Mountains
Slemish Mountain, a 1,500-ft volcanic mound in Northern Ireland, is steeped in history and offers stunning views of the coast and mountains. It is famously known as the reputed workplace of St. Patrick, who herded sheep there for six years. The mountain is a popular tourist attraction and is open year-round for visitors to explore. Climbing Slemish takes about 20-25 minutes from the car park, offering outstanding panoramic views at the top.
Be prepared for a climb, no actual man made footpath laid out to reach the top, You must negotiate your way up steep heather covered rocks to get to the summit. Beautiful views of all of N Ireland at the top though on a clear day.

Small but challenging, historic and beautiful. A great family day out..
The Antrim Rambler — Google review
We climb Slemish whenever we can. It's the perfect combination of scramble up a relatively steep, rocky slope and easily achievable summit, with fabulous views in all directions and a long spine to explore. Even very young children can make it to the top and with a car park and toilets it makes a nice little family adventure.
Richard Jolly — Google review
Great panoramic views all round. Good information centre and toilets.
Andrew Wilson — Google review
My last visit to Slemish was 24 Jan 23. From the car park you couldn't see Slemish. From the top you couldn't see the edge. Still was worth the climb.
Joe Devitt — Google review
Just to get the story straight. Patrick was from what is now Wales and he was most likely a Roman. At that time, England and Wales were called Britannia and they spoke Latin as the Romans only invaded those 2 locations. Patrick comes from the Latin word Patricius !!! (Patricia was the feminine word which is still commonly used to this day for girls' names). They gave the name Scotia to Scotland and Hibernia to Ireland but did not conquest these 2 lands. Picts inhabited the former and Celts the latter. They both spoke Gaelic and still do so today with Scottish and Irish being virtually identical to each other. He was captured in 432 a.d. and brought to Ireland from Wales. Why would he end up in Antrim, more than 200 km north of the most probable crossing point of, say, Dublin ? He did tend flock, maybe in Antrim, maybe not. Long ways to go, given the very primitive transportation available at that time. He was Christian BEFORE he arrived.

Great place to visit i can't climb up to the top but love seeing so many others climbing up. There are toilets in the car park with great views over County Antrim.

Up the steps go right .great views from the top.take it slow coming down. The car park has toilets and sinks .Good information signs around telling you about the history of the area.whort in distance but can be steep in places.
New Roads — Google review
Magnificent little mountain, near Broughshane, that stands out for miles in the Ulster landscape. History links Slemish to St Patrick, so this makes it one that most would want to climb. It's a tough little 20 to 25 minute climb from the carpark, but the views from the top are outstanding. About an hour or so will do to climb Slemish and then return to the carpark.
John Bashford — Google review
Lovely challenging climb to the top. There Is no right or wrong way to climb up it just find yourself a way up that suits you. Though most people stick to the one route. The views are rewarding when you reach the top

Outstanding, seen April 2023 on a rainy bleak day but the presence of the previous volcano activity gives it an opposing but original feeling, with a light mist hanging over it. Worth a visit

Sports complex
Ballymena Showgrounds, a renowned sports complex in Northern Ireland, is conveniently located near the vibrant shopping town of Ballymena. Situated by the main M2 motorway, it serves as a pivotal connection between Belfast and Londonderry/Derry. Only two miles away from County Donegal, this modern facility boasts a newly constructed access road leading to a spacious carpark. Additionally, multiple AstroTurf football pitches are situated behind the main Stand & Ground area.
Google brought me to the Warren street entrance which wasn't wrong. We had to take the entrance for the ecos centre instead which is an alternative way to get into the grounds(I think the warren street entrance is mainly for football matches and the likes)

Brand new access road off the Broughshane Roundabout, takes you to a very large carpark! Numerous AstroTurf football pitches behind the main Stand & Ground! Yesterday there were about 11 / 12 games in progress by 1100, from age 7 ish, upwards! 5 mins past the carpark you have several food outlets !

Covid-19 drive thru testing centre attendee. Very helpful staff and I must say I really appreciate the hard work these people are doing as I myself am a front line worker for during covid-19 also so I know the importance of moral support throughout this. I hope this gets back to them because in that heat with piles of cars coming and going it cannot be easy at all. Please if you see this wear your mask in the car, keep your windows up unless told otherwise to protect the staff and yourself and most of all be patient with the staff they are doing an amazing job and it is not easy! Thanks again.

We've photographed 4 weddings here over the years and it never disappoints! The team at Lissanoure are lovely and the setting is spectacular, we'll never take the same photograph because there is so much opportunity! We can't wait to photograph another wedding here again soon! ig: @honeyandthemoonphotography

A fantastic venue for the wedding of our good friends. The castle itself is absolutely stunning and with a church a short walk away is the ideal location. The grounds are lush rolling greens fields, which lead into lakes and a picturesque river. The food was very good and the service provided by the staff was great. Fully stocked bar, complete with some top shelf scotch always goes down a treat. A special mention to Ivor who was a great barman and was full of good recommendations for whisky.

Sharon Bell — Google review
My daughter got married yesterday and we had the reception at Lissanoure Castle. At first it seemed far to travel to get there, but to tell the truth it did not disappoint in the least. The journey is worth it and then some. The reception area is welcoming and comfortable, and then 'the barn' is just a great space to hold a wedding reception. There is plenty of space, it's toasty warm with a huge log fire blazing surrounded by comfortable seating, and the dining area is massive, with plenty of dance floor space if you need it. The staff could not do enough for you, and were all really friendly and welcoming. Thanks so much for a perfect day!!

Stunning surroundings for a beautiful wedding event. Historic with unique features such as round courtyard with grassy area (good for games during photos), open fires in receotion areas, covered outdoor area for ceremony, lake and walkways. Spacious dining room with great dance floor. Highly recommended!

My husband and I had the most perfect day at Lissanoure Castle. This venue is truly special and is everything we thought it would be, and more. With the organised event staff and Janes kitchen catering everything was totally perfect. (and delicious) A huge thank you to everyone at lissanoure - you made our fairy tale wedding come true.

We had our wedding at Lissanoure Castle on the 24th June 23. This venue is beautiful! The scenery is amazing for photographs, the barn allowed for us to keep our wedding party together for the entire evening and the ladies at Lissanoure could not have done anything more to ensure our day went to plan. I can not recommend this place enough. Emily, Jane and Sarah, thank you.

Glenariff forest park is a must see if you're visiting Northern Ireland. It's located just 1 hour drive north of Belfast and is very accessible by car. Arriving at the location I was surprised to see that parking for cars was £5 for the day and even more for vans, luckily when we got there the parking metre wasn't working so we got it for free. There are 3 different walks you can take each ranging in distance from a short 1 km, 3km and 8.9 km. I would recommend the waterfall trail (3km) which takes well under an hour and is a very easy walk although the uphill part is quite steep. On the waterfall trail you get amazing views of the waterfalls and it feels like you're somewhere exotic. Well worth a visit.
Kieron C — Google review
The scenic walk is probably my favourite walk in NI. It's fairly long (takes me a bit over 2 hours) and steep but the views are so worth it! The walk to the waterfall is also really nice and much shorter and easier. Even the view from the carpark/picnic area is lively if you just wanted to take a picnic lunch/watch the view.

Fab place to visit - we visited on weekend of Fri 3 June 2022 - Mon 6th and we stayed in the caravan park. Lovely setting with cafe on site near the caravan park. Very colourful in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended... and dont let mention of midges put you off - we hardly noticed them at all. Very good caravan facilities also.

What a gorgeous site, we stayed 2 nights in our campervan £27 per night which includes electric and fully serviced pitch, hardstanding. It has a laundry room, kitchen area, nice clean showers, with a decent hairdryer and a seat and toilets with baby room and disabled shower and toilet room, a little park for kids to play on and some lovely walks. You pay online and get sent an email with your key pass code , the warden was nice a friendly and popped to check if we were OK and needed anything. Great site will definitely be back

Visited 07/03/22 With a bit of sunshine on a clear day the views this place provides are incredible! The car park is £5 which is on the expensive side but you could easily spend the day here. There are multiple trails between 1k and 9k long. There are toilets and picnic tables as well as a cafe/gift shop. Would definitely come back.
Erika Crawte — Google review
This place is breathtaking and not just the beautiful views and variety of native plants. The walks will literally take your breath away. The 3km walk may sound easy but is mostly steep down & uphill walking. The toilets are acceptably clean (there is a baby changing station) , and there are plenty of tables for picnics, or if all fails, there 's grass. A worthwhile adventure for a family for £5 a car.
Christine Martin — Google review
What a beautiful part of Northern Ireland this is! Today we followed the Waterfall path as you will see in the photos. This is a lovely walk of about 3km but if you are not fit then it is not for you! It would be advisable to wear good walking shoes/boots as some of the paths are a bit rough and could be slippery in parts when wet. There is a good carpark which costs £5 per car and there's a decent cafe and gift shop. Picnic tables are available if you want to bring your own food. There are longer walks available for serious walkers or you could just enjoy the view from the carpark, it's up to you! It's a worthwhile stop off along the North Coast, only about 10 minutes drive from Waterfoot. Give it a try!
George Stewart — Google review
The park was great and the forestry was awesome but the signage was terrible. We couldn't actually find the falls which was the main thing we went to see. We didn't eventually uncover them but no thanks to the signs .... and the tea rooms closed at 3:30!
Malcolm Steele — Google review
Did the Scenic Walk which is 5.5miles or so. Walk starts at the main carpark (which now costs £5 for an all day ticket) following the black arrow way markers. Parts of the walk at the beginning are steep but paths level out, rest of the inclines are more gradual. Moderate fitness levels will find this walk very doable. Absolutely beautiful views from the top, can see for miles. Best views on a clear day. Small benches are situated throughout to have a rest and soak in the scenery. Walk takes approximately 2.5 hours. Well worth doing.

I don’t think I need a thousand and one words to describe our euphoric mood for this visit to Glenariff Forest Park . We love Glenariff Forest Park, it is such a beautiful 🤩 spot especially to walk the dog as he gets lots of freedom. We thoroughly enjoy taking time out in nature here. I'd highly recommend this walk if you're in the area, we travel about an hour to get here as it is spectacular

A really well laid out and maintained caravan park, A1! The Glen itself is fantastic with walks for everyone, up in to the hills or down in to the Glen. Laragh Lodge at the bottom of the main walk offers refreshments and a meal to fortify you for the hike back up, or you can drive down when you are ready to eat 👍

We stopped here to admire the view and have Irish coffee. This was a wonderful surprise to find such a lovely restaurant out in what felt like the middle of nowhere. The park is gorgeous and the trails that we watch on were lovely. The view down the Glen is absolutely gorgeous.

The waterfalls Two years ago I visited in winter, snow, white, beautiful. First time visiting at this time of year. Beautiful, green and colorful. Full of life that fills you with energy. Dooey's Cairn, a remarkable historical site located in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, offers an abundance of attractions for tourists. This ancient landmark, known for its rich and diverse history, is a must-see destination. From its well-maintained grounds to its excellent signage, Dooey's Cairn is an impressive spot that captivates visitors. With its significant cultural significance and intriguing heritage, this place deserves a visit on your Northern Ireland holiday checklist.
Magnificent Neolithic Court Tomb in a beautiful area. The site is well signposted and just off the road, encapsulated by a fence and green gate. You can tell it is appreciated by the local community as it is well maintained and in good condition. There are 2 signs with plenty of interesting info; some sites are lucky to even get one! There is some parking outside a manor house just across the road, but you might have to bring the car fully up onto the footpath. The court tomb itself is stunning in its preservation and doesn't take much imagination to appreciate; the full court and outer wall of large stones are still in position, with the tomb entrance and inner corridor still well defined.

I find things like this interesting because Northern Ireland is very small. The history is rich and varied. It may be a pile of stones but the significance is astounding.
ACORN Homestead — Google review
A little neolithic site nestled away in a sleepy hamlet beside an old thicket. Dooey’s Cairn is a Neolithic tomb (a single ended court tomb with forecourt) dating from c.3500-2000 BC. It is the best preserved court tomb in the Causeway Coast area consisting of a U-shaped forecourt that leads into a small stone lined chamber. Behind the chamber is a cremation passage, containing three pits, one of which held the remains of several individuals. This form of cremation passage is the only one of its type found in Ireland. During the excavations, archaeologists discovered various artefacts e.g. polished axe heads, flint arrows and decorated pottery. Fire-reddening of stones in the actual passage has been interpreted as cremation of bodies in situ.

The Pizza Parlour, a longstanding pizza establishment in Ballymena since the 1980s, is renowned for its appealing ambience and diverse selection of delectable pizzas featuring various toppings. Customers can indulge in options such as the American Hot pizza or the popular Margarita with its thin crust. Additionally, patrons have praised the flavorsome Sicilian pizza alongside mouthwatering dishes like chicken polo and succulent chicken with peppered sauce.

Love the carry out, the staff are super helpful and the service is fast. It can get very busy especially at the weekend or over the holidays so order early. The restaurant is nice but the atmosphere is missing the x factor, not sure what/why? All in all but a good spot!

Food was great, can't say the same about the service whilst ordering. Young girl with dark hair and glasses took my order, kept cutting me off when i tried to to tell her my order. Mumbling as she spoke I didn't hear was she asked and was very snappy when I asked her to repeat her self. Didn't seem like she wanted to be there at all which is understandable when your having a long day. But taking it out on customers is extremely unprofessional

First time here. Pizzas at reasonable price - and decent quality. I went for the slightly unusual calypso - tuna and banana topping. It wasn't quite the taste explosion I'd hoped for, but nonetheless decent. Service was attentive, and I liked the pop art vibes. We arrived at 5pm on a Friday and it was pretty quiet after just opening for the evening, but rapidly filled with a mix of couples and groups. Seems like a pretty popular spot locally. The draft Guinness wasn't available owing to an ongoing issue with their machinery, but happy with the draft Bierra Moretti instead. Could see us coming back.

Had lunch at the Glencloy Inn yesterday. Fantastic experience from start to finish. Met by a very pleasant young waitress who took our Covid screening details. Lovely wee restaurant and lovely staff. Clean and quiet. From outside I thought I'd be walking into a dark and dingy pub where I might get a few dodgy looks from the locals (I feel I've had that a fair bit touring round Donegal). But....this place was perfect for stopping in for a bite to eat while touring the coast. I've ate up the road in Londonderry arms before and think food was fine but can't actually remember it. Only problem, if visiting here with kids. The beef burger on kids menu seemed to be a patty homemade from mince with thick onion through it. My 9 yr old boy couldn't really eat it. Maybe someone else would love it but he's picky. I tried it too and found it to be not as nice as expected but can't put my finger on why. The kids chicken burger isn't a breaded fillet, it's just a plain fillet which again tasted nice to me but my 5 yr old wouldn't eat it because he thought it would be breaded. My 10yr daughter got chicken and chips. Can't go wrong with that. She was still a little hungry after that but there dessert menu is nice or you can get some morelli's ice cream a few doors up. Meal was £55 for 2 adults and 4 kids. Youngest 1.5yr old. Oh and I had a chicken stack on mash with tobacco onions and maybe pepper sauce, I can't remember but it tasted great too

The cuisine at Sanjha Indian Restaurant is highly enjoyable and the staff members are exceptional. However, there was an issue with being charged for poppadoms that were unexpectedly brought to the table. In comparison to other Indian restaurants in Northern Ireland, where complimentary poppadoms are provided, this came as a surprise. It is not an issue if there is prior knowledge of this additional charge. The menu at Sanjha Indian Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes that cater to different tastes.

Restaurant was quite busy but there was just one member of staff waiting on tables. She did her best but really needed help. Most Indian restaurants we've been to (including the other one in town) provide complimentary poppadoms but Sanjha do not. A bit mean, particularly as we discovered after leaving the restaurant we'd been overcharged by £4. The food was OK but portions were small. Overall would not go back.

The food was very tasty and the staff were great, however, we were charged £3.80 for poppadoms that were brought to the table that we hadn't ordered. I have been in several Indian Restaurants around NI and every time the poppadoms have been complementary. I don't mind paying, as long as I know I will have to do this beforehand.

This restaurant is the best in Co. Antrim if not N. Ireland. And not to be beaten in Dublin or Galway in our experience. Thanks for your lovely meals and please continue as you are doing everything so well.

Ridiculously over priced.... The food portions were extremely less. The quality of food was average. Food was served after one and half hours 🙃🙃🙃🙃 Difficult to find parking at peak hours

Chinese restaurant
Go Sun Chinese Restaurant is an established eatery that offers a traditional menu, featuring delectable Asian cuisine. The restaurant boasts elegant wooden tables and a stylish corner cocktail bar. Even without a reservation, the staff went out of their way to accommodate us and provided excellent service. Denise, our attentive server, helped create a relaxed atmosphere while we enjoyed the exceptional food. The portions were generous and satisfying. It is highly recommended to make reservations in advance to ensure a delightful dining experience at this popular establishment.
The food has always been good and tasty and was great value too! Phoned in a take away order of Crispy Duck & Chicken Chow mein and all very tasty but do check the 2024 prices. Much higher than some menu photos here, but still reasonable enough.

Was recommended here by a colleague. In the area for work over night and it lived up to everything they said. The food was excellent, the service was noting but perfect and a nice vibe to the restaurant. Ten out of ten to the team who were working tonight. 10/10.

Called in without a reservation on the chance of a bite of something to eat. The place was booked solid. Staff sorted us with a table for 2. Denise was very attentive and made us feel relaxed while we ate. The food was exceptional, and there was plenty of it. I would recommend it here for a good feed, but remember to book and you won't be disappointed.

Always great food! Sometimes you have to wait a wee while on delivery, but it's always piping hot, and worth the wait! That's far better than getting it 10mins earlier and it half cold, because the driver is greedy and takes too many orders at once. This isn't the case here! Probably the best Chinese in Ballymena in my opinion!

Really nice food in a lovely setting. The owner is very friendly and all the staff were helpful and had smiles. You can tell this restaurant is run with pride. Will definitely come here again when in the area.

Awful. Girl on counter wasn't friendly. Food was awful, chips stale and meagre portions probably highest prices in Ballymena, shame on you, I've been going to you for many years, since 1970sI got a chicken Maryland and chips for mum for mother's day as she doesn't want to go out. Such a let down, never again 😡😡

Extortionate prices, just paid £10.50 for honey chilli chicken with rice. I know takeaways have gotten more expensive but nothing justifies that price. Sooo many cheaper options around the town and better quality too. Your reply seems to suggest that because you pay vat on all your food is the reason why you are more expensive, yet I use a local takeaway app that have set up cashless payments with various other chinese/Cantonese takeaways at a fraction of what you charge.

Pizza restaurant
Milanos is an incredibly impressive eatery, situated on two levels with the upper floor typically reserved for special events and weekends. The ambiance of the restaurant is charming and inviting, boasting delightful seating arrangements adorned with comfortable cushions. Notably, the kitchen occupies a central position within the establishment, affording patrons a captivating view of the food preparation process.
My family and I called in during the Easter holidays and were promptly accommodated with a large table upstairs. The food was delicious and everyone cleared their plates. We will definitely be back. Thanks

It’s a cosy little pizza joint. They have charm, accompanied with a pleasant bit of care. There menu is great. Though likes some aspects of variety. But makes it up with the quality of the doses they offer. Great for group outing. They have a nice bit of mood lighting in evening. With a comfortably busy atmosphere.

Went here for a work lunch. Food was excellent and a nice atmosphere about the place. The waitress who served us was really pleasant and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. As for the food, I had the southern fried chicken fillet burger which was excellent. My colleagues had a mixture of burgers/pizzas/salted chilli chicken and I think every plate was pretty much cleared. Already looking forward to going back in the new year.

Very friendly waitress who got it just right when it comes to being friendly, efficient and respectful. Excellent food highly recommend the cheesy mushrooms, kebab pizza (you know it's wrong but it was so right!) and chocolate brownie.

I'd have given 0 stars if it was an option. £4 for a tiny portion of chips. I mentioned to the girl I was paying & who served us that it was very expensive for such a small portion to be snapped at 'I don't make the prices.' She had absolutely no manners at all, no please or thank you at any time. Generally if I'm not happy with somewhere I just won't go back but to be spoke to with such a bad attitude and treated like we were was disgusting. She shouldn't be interacting with people in any capacity.

Had our wedding meal here on 16th June 2023. Absolutely outstanding. Allan and his team went above and beyond for us and we couldn't be more grateful. Food was 5🌟 every single person loved their food. The atmosphere was so cosy and clean. They made us feel so special and went out of their way to decorate for me. Milanos holds a special place in my heart since I was a child and having my wedding there was perfect. Nothing was too much for Allan and his team who are absolutely fantastic. If I could rate higher than a 5🌟 I would! Thanks for making our day so special 🖤 Much Love, The Black's 🖤

We really enjoyed this place. Two adults, a 10 yo and 6yo. Good service and speedy. Friendly staff. We would happily go back. The kids portions were great and we really liked the pizza dough base.

Here for a hen party last night! Buffet was brilliant with large portions and great value for money. My gluten free dietary requirement was catered for perfectly. Special thanks to Chelsea for looking after me so well.

Absolutely amazing restaurant, set on 2 levels ( though upstairs was closed off, assuming used on weekends and for functions ) Decor was lovely and welcoming ( my other half especially loved the proper cushions on the seats ) the kitchen was in the centre of the restaurant which I love as you can see everything being made. For starters we had mozzarella sticks ( gone before the picture was taken ), dough balls and cheesy garlic bread, all hot and lovely. Mains 2 pizzas one vegetarian which was lovely, and they added toppings no fuss Other chicken and cheese Lastly chicken goujons and chips because I'm a big kid Highly recommended, lovely venue, lovely staff and amazing food

Milano's restaurant management should pay attention to all feedback, positive or negative. I was simply suggesting that the business should consider look at better communications within their delivery service. I'm not interested in getting into the details of who said what, I know what the waitress told me. To prevent any misunderstandings or attempts to conceal mistakes in the future, it would be helpful if you simply just called your customers and informed them that there will be a delay in their delivery. Lastly, from a public relations standpoint, it is advisable to avoid expressing your frustrations so publicly on platforms like Google's customer service platform.

Great authentic restaurant, great food, and prompt service. The staff are always polite and attentive. The food is delicious with something for everyone and is quite reasonably priced which is unusual these days.
