In the charming town of Malcesine, Italy, sits the impressive Palazzo dei Capitani. This historic building, constructed in the Venetian Gothic style, boasts a beautiful garden offering breathtaking views of Lake Garda. Originally built in the 11th century and later acquired by a wealthy Italian family, it is now open to the public for free visits. The palace also hosts various events such as art exhibitions and concerts during the summer months.
This is an old Venetian palazzo that now is used as a gallery. The garden is open for everyone without an entrance fee. It is very nice and calm place with great views.

A nice palace in the heart of the city. Offers great views of the lake and I believe they sometimes do concerts there. Free entry completely and you can walk right in. The palace was built in the eleventh century and was then bought by a wealthy Italian family. It’s now publicly available for entry. There’s free nearby parking also.

Nice and quiet place, botanic art, with entrance to the lake.

Lovely gardens to visit. This is free to go into and has beautiful flowers and a small garden you can walk around. Would highly recommend a visit here when touring Malcesine.

We had a lovely day walking through the gardens and admiring the beautiful views of Lake Garda. The building was very interesting and I particularly liked the the painted ceilings, etc. I would like to visit again.

A beautiful house at the center of Malcesine and by the sea, with a small garden that you can visit for free. During the summer it also hosts events like photo exhibitions, painting etc. A recommended visit if you find yourselves in Malcesine.

Stunning 13th to 15th century building, very well restored, and the dock at the back has superb views of the lake and mountains. Regular events, free art exhibitions when we visited 20 August, Malcesine is an amazing town, visit if you can.

Aril River, also known as the shortest river in Italy, flows through the small village of Cassone before merging into Lake Garda. The 175-meter-long river adds charm to the landscape with its meeting point with a waterfall and three bridges. The picturesque setting of Cassone has inspired renowned painter Gustav Klimt to create some of his famous paintings. Visitors can easily access Aril River from the nearby municipality of Malcesine and witness its unique beauty where it meets the lake.
Tiny river! Lovely restaurant sits on it and next to Cassone Hotel.

Mountain cable car
The cable ride is pleasant and quick. It takes less than 5 minutes to get to the first stop and another 5 minutes to get to the top. The second ride to the top actually rotates, so it doesn't matter where you stand. You will get to view all angles of the ride. The view of the lake and Malcesine is breathtaking. It is definitely worth the price of the ride. We paid €72 for two adults and two kids.
Nir Sharony — Google review
Booked cable car online saving 2 euros per ticket. Quick journey up although like others said they do pack you in. Beautiful views and fresh air. Spent 6 hours in total.
Stefan Channing — Google review
Wonderful views and a easy comfortable way to travel up the mountain. Would advise either booking tickets on line or getting there early to buy at ticket desk if you are wanting to travel in the morning. Signage could be improved and may be more explicit on how and where to queue for tickets or cable car access. The actual management was proficient and controlled very well by staff of those not wanting to adhere to the basic rules.
Paul Wennington — Google review
What an amazing place to go. We got there late in the day and nearly didn't make it. So glad we carried on with the journey as the views and the atmosphere are just incredible. As we were late, it meant there weren't that many people up at the top. A quick walk to the left and we could take in the peace and quiet... and I do mean silence around us. 😌 it as a beautiful day and one I shall not forget.
Dave Coles — Google review
Well organised cable car route to the top of Monte Baldo where you can enjoy a marvellous view of Lake Garda and the surrounding hills. Easy walking on the plateau at the top and you can watch the paragliding. Cafes and bars also available at the top. The wait for the cable car can be quite long at busy periods but worth it and it's only a few minutes walk from the bus station.
John Rushton — Google review
Logistics and process are fine. Price is steep with 25€ per person for all the way up and return. The view is very limited because of probably smog, so you might think it was just a matter of that very day. However, generally the view is not at clear and nice as advertised. On the top we could barely see the west coast of the lake. There are two nice little restaurants on the top with somewhat reasonable pricing.
Martin Metz — Google review
Well worth the money and time. Cable car takes you about 3/4ths of the way up Mt Baldo. At the top terminus there are easy hikes to sites that offer spectacular views of the entire lake. You can also vicariously feel the excitement of the para gliders that launch themselves from the northern end of the trail. If inclined there is a continuing trail to the top of Mt Baldo. It is a moderate climb but with scree on majority of the trail. Beautiful at the top. However make sure that you have enough time for the return as the cable car's last departure in at 1845. If you missed it there is a trail back to Malcesine.
Eugenio Bacordo — Google review
I highly recommend going up to Monte Baldo in the cabin, it really adds to the experience. We went on a weekday and there were no queue, but the tickets are a little cheaper online. The ride has two parts, and the second one rotates 360°. The only bad thing I would say is how many people are in one cabin, you have to be quick to stand at the windows.
Vikt?ria F?ldi — Google review
Got in early paid extra €2 because I didn't book online quick to the top can spend an entire day. Watch for the weather, we had a great view but a couple came two days later when haze and cloud spoiled their day.
Paul Brown — Google review
Going up at around 9am meant that there were no queues, which was very convenient. The ride itself is quite an amazing experience, once up on the hills top... Plenty of hiking trails, restaurants and amazing views. Around 20 degrees on a sunny June day. Recommended.
Marcin Zielinski — Google review
Nice, clean, fast, well organized when you are already at the entrance to the cable car. Before that, not that much. There can be a real long queue in the most popular hours in high season. It is hard to get information before getting to the cashier, there are no signs, or the signs are hard to find when you need something special, like going up with your bike. In case you want to do that, it is strongly advised to by your ticket on-line, as bicycles are allowed only at certain times. In any case you are better off buying the ticket on-line and avoiding the crowds., but now I am focusing on the bicycle aspect. You need to show up 15 minutes before your ride and take the elevator that is to the left from the stairs and the que of people (if there is one). The gondolas are huge, can fit up to 80 (!) passengers - packed a bit like sardines - or about 30 bikes and their riders. Staff arranges the bikes in the cabin. The ride up is very nice and cycling down from 1700 m is certainly not something one can experience every day. Check your breaks before you go! MTB bikes are recommended, as the first part of the road down is quite unpleasant gravel, but soon it becomes asphalt, though narrow. Ride safely, you need the share the road with cars! Traffic is light, but the hairpin turns can be dangerous.
Boglárka Lázár — Google review
Expensive but beautiful, If you plan on sticking around for a longer time at the top of the mountain it’s worth. If you are just staying less than 30 mins then it’s not so worth. Nice cold breeze up there, with a restaurant and relaxing area where you can sun bathe. Toilet also available
Laccs — Google review
Views are breathtaking and air crystal clear. 2nd cablecar swivels round slowly so you get a full view going up or down. Worth getting tickets in advance or on line as queues can be long in peak times. We went 11 30 and got on 12.30. Can be cold up top so take a sweater just in case and wear good shoes as lots of loose rocks.
Y B — Google review
They shouldn’t cram you in like they do, it’s too crowded. And annoying to have to scan your tickets so many times when you have 6 ppl in your group. But worth it to go to the top! The hiking is amazing and there’s a restaurant you can eat at with great views and atmosphere.

Totally unsorted, hard to find anything and every Corner ist cramped with stuff. You can't really tell who is working and who shopping. Oh and its expensive as well! For cooled drinks, they are another 30cents per bottle or can, shame in you! Never had that in a regular supermarket and Ich have travelled the world quite a bit!

Al Gondoliere is a seafood and pasta restaurant in Malcesine with balcony seating. The food was delicious, and the price was great for three skewers 20 euros. I would 100% recommend this restaurant.
With no questions, best restaurant in Malcesine, everything was fantastic. Service was incredibly fast, kind, even when we were leaving, they came back to our table to thank for the visit. Food is fantastic, I can recommend the tortellini with pistachio sauce and the tiramisu for the dessert. I have never been waiting so short for such a delicious food. If I had an option to give You 6*, I gave it to you. Thank You, I'll definitely come back

A cozy restaurant in the center of Malcesine town, the food was great and service was welcoming. We ordered grilled sea bream and the squid and shrimps skewers with king prawn. Highly recommend both dishes but I like the skewers more, as it provides variety and at a very reasonable price. The meal is around euro 60 for 2 ppl include drink. They have a special chilli olives served as snack which was super yummy! Btw, the service is efficient and great! 抵食、好味、熱情款待。😋😋😋❤️

Overall great lunch experience (in this atmospheric colourful town) and the traditional dishes are of quality, very well prepared and nicely presented. Food is clearly above average 👌 Il Pulpo primi was tasty and slightly crispy. The pasta nero Del Mare secondi with small scallops here again was perfectly cooked (aldente) and topped with two langoustines. We felt welcomed by staff and the friendly Owner and we were not rushed out despite being the last Customers (on a heavily rainy October day) which was very much appreciated. We had complementary digestives (Grappa, Lemoncello) from the bottles kindly left on the side of our table. Tutto era Perfetto 👌👌 Grazie mille

Amazing authentic pasta ragout! You have to visit this place and try their ragout. Their tiramisu is also fantastic! Service could be a little more positive and smiley, they look like they want to go home. But we can live with it, when food is that good.

The food was very good as well as the service of the staff. You felt directly comfortable although you are relatively close to the tables and chairs together. We ate the salmon with vegetables and black tagliatelle with shrimp and scallop. Everything was fine and super tasty! Especially the tiramisu is particularly noteworthy. That was super!

Great place to eat , amazing food , great staff who love their jobs . Was moved at the end of the night to a spot on the terrace and given a bottle of limoncello to enjoy while we listened to live music below . Heavenly dishes, and terrific, friendly, staff. The only thing which didn't fit to the otherwise high art of Italian kitchen was the bread. Still, The best roast potatoes I ever tasted and fantastic grilled vegetables. That's why we returned one night later.

Traditional food, with great produce and quality of meat. A bit old fashioned, and not very clean. Spiderweb in the plants. No smoking at the table outside, and no area for smokers.

If you're looking for an Italian restaurant with stunning views of Lake Garda, Ristorante Vecchia Malcesine is definitely worth checking out. The food is carefully crafted and artfully plated, and the service is top-notch. There are 11 different tasting menus to choose from, as well as wine pairing options with seven different wines from around the lake. Everything here tastes fantastic together and the service truly makes it a special dining experience.
Found this place in the Michelin guide and we had 2 different dinner sets. We had a table by the window with the late setting sun. The food was inventive, each dish had layers of flavors and textures, recommended wines were excellent. We loved it and will come back again. For a 1 Michelin star restaurant, the price for the set dinners were reasonable for the quality and service.

The Vecchia Malcesine is a really nice fine dining restaurant near the Center of Malcesine. The beautiful view you get from the little wintergarden, which contains most of the restaurants tables, is only interrupted by the delicious food that Leandro and his team serves. We tried the classic menu and really enjoyed every dish, from the fake tomatoe, to black pearl and pasta carbonara.

All was perfect: the 12 course menu, the amazing service and the astonishing view of the beautiful Garda lake while having dinner. The only pity: 7 wines during the menu is just too much - we were not able to sufficiently drink the wines ;) Absolutely recommend to go while staying in beautiful Marcesine!

Very friendly staff and tasty food which is value for money. The owner was very helpful and friendly. 🙏 Fish plate was tasty, especially with crispy skin. Bruschetta was served with spicy sauce which I liked. They even prepared a calzone without meat based on our request for our dietary restrictions. Great views of the lake here and very attentive and kind staff. Came here after we ran the Lake Garda 42 half marathon. They have a nice patio and a covered balcony upstairs that has a great view. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara which was delicious and we had the bruschetta for the starter which was delicious. My friends ordered pizzas (almalfi and margherita) and both were delicious. The view was great and the price point seemed fine, the food came out really fast. When the food did arrive I had pizza which was just water in the middle and had 3 hairs in. Disappointed after reading all the good reviews about this place. Atmosphere would have been better if the male owner wasn’t watching my every move. Would have told the staff about the issues but no one came over to check on us , felt ignored. Maybe an off day for them but if you want better authentic Italian food try elsewhere.

Tasty pizzas, good pannacotta. The five stars are for the experience - the staff were friendly and jolly and helpful and didn't pressure us for our table despite being very busy and full the whole time. Location good with views of the lake. Food is four stars really - if I had to nitpick, the pizza was a bit doughy and thick.

The food was amazing. They seem to one of the only restaurants that make pizzas in a wood furnace in the area. Ate here 3 times. Excellent pizzas and their gnocchi is delicious. The location with the view of the lake is very nice and in the evening i also experienced live music. Service wise they are quick with bringing out food, but if you don’t ask to order and especially to pay it takes a very long time. Several I waited over 15 minutes after asking to pay, so if you sit down here you should not be in a hurry :)

Probably one of the best restaurants in Malcesine. Price worthy! It was hard finding a place serving not-so-touristy food. Eventually we came across this place. The seafood soup is 5/5 The risotto is 5/5 Pizza very good Pasta with aubergine/tomato 5/5 House wine very pleasant (from wine amateurs ) Overall we give the place 4/5. We returned for a total of 5 times and while most food was best in class, some like lasagna or the dessert Tiramisu was somewhat below basic, hindering us from giving it a full score. All in all, we leave with a good memory, recommend!

After returning to Italy for the first time after 22 years this was the first restaurant we visited and it was such a nice surprise it was like: "Yes, this is how things have to be!" Not only the food was great, but the service was so welcoming and friendly it felt like I come to this place all the time. Not every restaurant here is like this I can assure you. The pizza was great even though the mushrooms were not fresh. The Carbonara was amazing. I am sad to say I don't have a different cooks variation to compare it to yet, but this is what it will have to live up to. The arrabiata was not really arrabiata and my little daughter ended up eating it. The pasta with fish was also really great. Of course we had a really nice Lambrusco of the house with the meal which is the only way to go here.

The foodd have reasonable prices. We ordered Risoto Gamberi, Grilled roast beef, tiramisu, semifreddo al torroncino, and some drinks. They were really delicious. We would absolutely come back here again if we be around the area. Really recommended. And we got two shots of schnapps and a pack of pasta as gifts from them.

We went there by pure luck since we were on the look for some food in the afternoon when many places (except for the badly rated tourist traps) were closed, and we were not disappointed - great atmosphere, very friendly service staff, and the food was perfect! We had Vitello Tonato, Carpaccio, lasagna and cannaloni Al forno, all great and fresh ingredients. We will surely come back!

Starting with staff, you won’t regret visiting this place. Everyone is looking forward to chat with you and therefore you really feel welcome in this place. Moving on to the main part - the food. We did not order anything we wouldn't really enjoy there, and must say, we are not easy to satisfy when it comes to italian food. Huge variety of pasta, a lot of pizzas and salads. Im pretty sure, that everyone will be able to pick something out of the menu. Also, I can recommend their prosecco “alla casa”. Very smooth for prosecco, with light tones.

Absolutely lovely evening he helped us find a seat in the courtyard because we have a god with us. The food was incredible I would highly recommend the beef. The location was in an old Build the history and the atmosphere and the staff is what made this. As a parting gift they gave us a bottle of wine. Small gestures go a long way. We will be back on this trip!
