Family restaurant
Harvester Winding Wheel Castleford is a family-friendly chain eatery that offers a variety of grilled meat, salads, pasta, and seafood dishes. The restaurant exceeded expectations with its appealing menu options for children. One customer enjoyed their flavorful smoked chicken stack (or similar dish) and appreciated the appropriately portioned serving size. Another patron's daughter relished the smoked beef brisket accompanied by mashed potatoes and gravy. The ability to sample various tasty sauces was also a highlight of the dining experience.
A lot better than I expected! Great choices for the kids too. I had a smoked chicken stack (or something, can’t recall the name), it was so tasty! And the portions were just right. Not massive and over whelming. My daughter had the smoked beef brisket with mashed potato and gravy. I had to steal a taste. It was delightful! Also love being able to sample all of the delicious sauces that they have on offer. My only regret is that I didn’t have more fries to dip in the sauces. :) The staff were also super polite and helpful. Made us feel very welcome.

Booked this evening to celebrate friends birthday, first time we have been. From the moment you walk in until the moment you leave the staff were Fantastic & delivered excellent service throughout. good food, good selection on the salad bar. Not overly priced either. Kids menus have a good selection of smaller portion for under 6’s and a good selection for older children as well. We will definitely be returning 😁

Had a wonderful meal tonight. Covid regulations Still being enforced so no problem there .the food was hot and served promptly by are server Mandy who’s happy smiling face Made the meal even more enjoyable. Who knew are server had worked with Paul Daniels and had been his assistant before Debbie McGee.she even did a few card tricks for us will definitely return to this surprising restaurant. As Paul Daniels used to say ‘we liked it not a lot ‘only joking it was excellent

What a brilliant atmosphere, very friendly staff and the food was excellent they have a massive salad bar to choose from and refillable drinks. And the prices are really good too. I would definitely recommend this place.

Visited for dinner on a Saturday - advise booking a table in advance in case they are busy. Unlimited salad is great while you're waiting for your food - usually plenty of selection available and good for kids too. The 1983 combo (half chicken and half rack of ribs) is my go to meal - delicious! They did tell us that they had run out of chicken so one of our party had to change their order, but all food came out at the same time still and was nice. Recommend the rocky road dessert if you're feeling like a sweet afterwards! Can be a bit rich and can be shared between 2.

The best Harvester, we travel an hour to get there. Delicious food. Staff are always friendly and polite. Never had a bad experience yet. It is great to have a meal where it isn't fried in loads of oil and a plate full of chips. Any excuse to pass and stop.

Very hot and miss some staff are very rude manager was great salad bar was sadly lacking in salad as a wheelchair user we weren't considered for a back seat as asked for ,for back support. Bread rolls and there butter very tasty love there butter food chips arrived cold sweetcorn was still frozen in middle so not cooked properly I dread to think what else goes on food servers females wear false nails I've seen bar staff grab glasses by rim you have to put your lips there I'm not having a moan I'm just a watcher I see so many wrong things here simple common sense things

This was the first time I have visited a Harvester restaurant. I was no disappointed! I ordered an halloumi flatbread and a rocky horror sundae for afters. Yummy!! Service was fast and efficient to say there was 10 of us, staff were pleasant courteous.
Becki Armstrong — Google review
Although the restaurant was packed, service was quick and efficient. Much appreciated was the free salad bar and bread rolls which added up to a free starter. The main meal of rump steak was excellent and well cooked. The desserts were to die for ! I will return again for sure !
Ian Maguigan — Google review
This is the 2nd Harvester we've been to and very happy the quality is as great as the first! I had the rump steak and it was buttery soft and perfectly grilled. The rocky horror sundae was as delicious as the first time. Jo, our server, was lovely, friendly, witty and personable! No fault at all and can only compliment her. She was great at helping us be sneaky to pay part of the bill without mum noticing. Simply delicious food, great service and lovely atmosphere! Couldn't ask for more and will definitely be back

Went here for an impromptu lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I don't mean that in an awful way but I've eaten at harvesters before and it was kind of just a means to an end, but the food at this one was really good! The staff were so friendly too! Cannot go wrong for the price. There were 3 of us eating and none of us had anything to say other than praise. We will be back!

Popped into here on the way home. We asked about dietary needs, Heather was our server and she went above and beyond with the service we received. She really is a credit to your venue and the brand. The food is good, the price is reasonable and the service was outstanding. We would definitely return if we find ourself in the area again.
Matthew Myers — Google review
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a chicken burger, you got 2 pieces of chicken but they were a little thin so it might be better to have 1 big one. The salad bar is great, I love that it comes with your meal, it encourages you to eat something potentially healthier. It has its own parking is a good thing

What a Christmas Day!!!! We were booked in at 3:30pm, for the last sitting, after visiting other establishments later on in the day my expectation was to potentially tweak things or certain items to have run out. This wasn't the case. The staff were absolutely exceptional, food was hot and fresh. We were a party of 16 (11 adults & 5 children) everyone was well catered for. Both adults and kids portions were great sizes. None of us have left hungry! Neil (who contrary to other reviews, is a southern lad and his accent is not fake!!) has bent over backwards for us since booking in September, being constantly in touch and tweaking things where needed. We are extremely grateful to every individual from kitchen, floor, bar and any other staff member in the building for giving up their Christmas Day in order to allow us to celebrate our Christmas as a family. No one was grumpy, everyone was high spirited and we were made to feel so welcome. We have already decided to book again for next year. To Neil and every single staff member working today you have absolutely made our Christmas, we cannot thank you enough. I hope the higher powers that be see this and give you the praise you all deserve! Mel and family.

We had an absolutely lovely time at the Winding Wheel. We had a large party of 17 people and our waiter Josh was brilliant and so accommodating, providing the best service and looking after us so well. The only downside was that the hand dryer in the female toilets was not working and only 1 of the 3 cubicles had toilet paper.

Restaurant
Singing Chocker is a traditional British pub that offers televised sports and a menu featuring familiar grills and international comfort food. Recently refurbished, the establishment boasts pleasant flooring, decor, and seating arrangements. Customers can choose from a variety of dishes, although options like sandwiches, wraps, paninis, or jacket potatoes were notably absent from the new menu during lunchtime. Nonetheless, the overall experience was positive with good food and friendly staff.
First visit, won't be the last! Visited on a Monday about 12pm. Quiet on arrival. Got a table quickly. Good menu choice Ordered at the bar, service fairly quick, Christmas party got to bar first. Food was excellent, hot. Good be delays if very busy but be patient. Staff friendly and helpful. Price ££ to £££ depending on number of courses. Remember to log in your car registration as soon as you arrive. Well worth a visit.

Was not very nice. Not the first time i have been there and food has been undercooked. Burger was bleeding last time now chicken wings are pink. Wont eat here again. Chips said they came seasoned but were just plain fries. Took almost an hour and a half for the main meals. The bar staff were all sat down laughing and joking apart from one called kayleigh. Who was up serving everyone while other bar staff were sat drinking cola from the bar. Iv had a reply how i meant to get intouch without a name and a number?

Superb service today from a lovely lady called Sue. She never fails to make us feel welcome, the steak was excellent value for money at £5.50!!! Would highly recommended booking your table as it can get really busy here.

Haven't been in years but wanted somewhere local for a birthday gathering. Actually hugely surprised but how good it was, staff were lovely, food was super fast despite being a large party and ordering seperately. Very cheap but all the food was pretty good. As a local or similar it's a good place to go. Dog friendly as well is a huge bonus. Thanks to the team for making an easy celebration!

Called here for a spot of lunch with family. It has recently been refurbished. The flooring, decor and seating all very nice. We all chose something different from the menu. However with it being lunchtime we did actually fancy a sandwich/wrap/panini/jacket potato etc.. but unfortunately these didn’t seem to be on the new menu so had to have more of a dinner. But all in all nice food and staff friendly. Will eat here again 🍴

We love this pub, it is our regular place to eat on our day off. The food is always tasty and hot. The servers are always friendly and polite. The only reason for 4 star is the decor could do with a little update. (Furniture and carpets). Otherwise would be a 5 star.

Restaurant
Bella Italia - Castleford is a lively and vibrant venue that offers a delightful selection of Italian pasta, pizza, and grill dishes. It also provides a special menu for children. Whether it's a spontaneous visit or a planned outing after shopping or watching a film, this restaurant is always an enjoyable place to be. The food is exquisite, and the staff are friendly and attentive.
Popped in here to try the tiramisu and starter, the starter was a black truffle gnocchi. Both were great, quick and friendly service. Quality was what I expected of this chain. Very good service from my server Amalia, very fast polite and asked me straight away about any allergies. Black coffee was a little bitter though.

Group of 8 on a quiet Friday night. Seafood Rissoto was not available. It took an hour for my meal to arrive. It was cold so I sent it back and it was removed from the bill. I was offered a free dessert for compensation but I didnt have another hour to wait so I said no. The optional service charge needs manager approval to remove, that only took a few minutes. Got a bag of chips on my way home. Everyone else said their food was acceptable.

Hadn't planned to visit Bella Italia was a last minute decision after my sons football game got cancelled. Food was amazing and Ceres is an amazing member of staff. She regularly checked in with us to make sure we were enjoying our food and engaged in conversation with us, very polite and made us feel very comfortable. If you asked me to name a fault with Bella Italia I'd say not a chance. We will definitely be coming back again soon!!! Thank you Ceres and the rest of the staff for a wonderful experience. See you all again soon.

We've been here - time no complaints and pleasant food and atmosphere. But yesterdays second visit wasn't great. The cheeseburger was served with clumps and core of the lettuce, the burger was like birds eye, the cheese had slid off to the side so half the burger no cheese. Coleslaw looked and tasted warm and not fresh. Partner today has an upset stomach after having a pasta dish. Waited ages and ages for service. Child asked for vanilla Ice cream but after waiting an age got chocolate ice cream- irritating. We had to tell her we'd get her a vanilla Ice cream from the van outside because we didn't want to risk waiting another 20 minutes + for vanilla. Partner asked for bill as well as Ice cream because we didn't want to be made to sit and wait ages for the bill as well. Staff more concerned with clearing tables, seating new arrivals and cleaning and clearing than they are about service for customers. Not impressed -food only just edible. Gone downhill.....

Really nice tasty 😋 dinner here at Bella Italia. The kids enjoyed their pizza 🍕 and starters. We enjoyed our mains, I had spaghetti carbonara with Chicken 🍗 and it was good 🤩 Service was good, fast, and staff were friendly. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Good access for all abilities and a toilet within 🚻 Good experience, thanks for hosting us ❤️💪🍕😋

Great place if you like expensive freezer burnt toppings, dry pizza crust and slow service. Never again, just go to Pizza Express across the hall. The entire experience took two hours.

Had an amazing meal here. Went with my friend who is vegan and there were plenty of options. I had a chicken Milanese and the house white wine both of which were delicious and reasonably priced.we shared a vegan cookie dough for dessert which was also incredible. The serving staff were friendly and we were seated quickly despite it being rather busy.

Absolutely terrible ! We have ordered online, food was cold, there was only half of the box of fires and no extra chicken on one of the pizzas which I have paid for £2 and on the other pizza pepper was as on the picture. When I have called them they hang up ! If I could give zero I would ! Pizza was small !

Food wasn't the best. My lasagne has less than 5 milimeters!!! Wasn't offered any ketchup or parmezano on pasta as other Bella Italia practices. On the door information that" limited places available only" but was empty when we came and only one couples came with 2 hrs spent in there.
Anna — Google review
me and my partner went here and the plates had these marks on it, which could easily be washed off with a little effort, quite pricey as well, we paid a total of around £40 for a starter, 2 mains, a cocktail and a soda. The staff was amazing tho, quite a noisy atmosphere but the restaurant can't help that however we were sat right next to the bar so we kept hearing glass clashing together.

First time we’ve been to Bella Italia in years after several poor meals. This was a pleasant surprise, the staff were fantastic, it was very busy and a good reason for staff to act stressed and rushed, however, this was not the case. Edward was our main waiter and was always popping by asking if drinks and food were ok and if we needed anything. Both food and drinks were very well presented and tasted great. We don’t live in the area, but I hope our local branch in Essex will be as good as tonight’s was. Thank you for a great meal.

Italian restaurant
American restaurant
Frankie & Benny's is a popular chain restaurant that offers classic Italian and American comfort food in a welcoming atmosphere suitable for families. However, it seems that recently they have made some changes to their menu, discontinuing the mixed grill option and replacing it with a pricey BBQ platter. Despite this, some customers still find the new menu to be great and enjoyable, especially during breakfast time.
Frankie & Benny's deserves a stellar 5-star rating for delivering an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. Right from the beginning, the service was exceptional. We were warmly greeted, and the staff inquired about allergies, ensuring a thoughtful and attentive approach. The prompt seating further added to the positive first impression. The beverage options, including sodas, offered a decent selection at reasonable prices. Although cocktails and beer were slightly on the pricey side, the overall variety catered to different preferences. Opting for the evening menu, which featured set prices for 2 or 3 courses, proved to be a delightful choice. Our starters, including garlic bread, arrived promptly, followed by mains that showcased a diverse selection—ranging from a burger and fries and a carbonara to a hot dog with fries and a classic lasagne. While there was a minor delay in mains, it did not overshadow the overall positive experience. The food itself was exceptional, with each dish impressing us and leaving no room for complaints. Although we were too full for desserts on this occasion, past visits had established that their desserts were equally amazing. The billing process was efficient, with the fair pricing of the bill and its prompt arrival, further contributing to the overall satisfaction of the dining experience.

That's one to cross off the list. Ordered a couple of pizzas, they were like something a six year old had made at school. Maybe it was nouveau cuisine and I just didn't get it though.

Our family of 5 really enjoyed our experience today. Our server Ellen was exceptional, providing friendly, efficient service, she was a real highlight of our visit from the moment we arrived and is a real asset to this restaurant. The food was excellent, arriving quickly and was all very tasty and reasonably priced. We have visited Frankie and Benny's many times but today's visit really stood out. Many thanks again to the team today.

Went in to be greeted by the waiter with a face like a slapped arse unfortunately. Can't really tell who works there and who doesn't as half of them weren't in uniform. Wasn't particularly busy. Prices are fair in today's market I would say. Drinks took a fair while to make their way to the table, other staff equally unhappy as they're walking around etc. shame to see it so empty on a saturday afternoon when its so sunny outside too. Quality wise - The burgers were top notch. Really really good. I had the BBQ brisket fries which were great, my friends had the lasagna which they were impressed with. Food arrived very quickly. Overall - I'd come again as the food is brilliant and the prices are fair, mostly. Portions were decent. Would come again. Thanks all. Absolutely recommend BBQ brisket fries.
Matthew Corton — Google review
I do not recommend it, we ordered hot chocolate with cream and coffee for two people, we got one teaspoon. The dishes we ordered looked like cheap food in the canteen, reheated from frozen food, poorly washed cutlery. Quality inadequate for the price. I am so disappointed we were there a few years ago, it was very clean and the food was delicious. We will never go back there again.
Ewa Kaczmarczyk (HandicraftEva) — Google review
Of all the Frankie and Bennys restaurants I have been to, this has got to be the worst. 10minutes we waited before being seated, after the staff supervisor had cleared and wiped the table for us. The table next to us stood uncleaned for the 2hours we were there!! See pic. And still was dirty two hours later after we left as we went back to see if it had been cleaned. Waitress that served appeared to be new, which we gave the benefit of the doubt. She took our orders for drinks and meals and then disappeared. Our food had been stood for a while once cooked-as we observed the cooks at work. Our plates were waiting 10minutes before a waiter brought them over - which arrived prior to our drinks, which when we asked what happened to pur drinks, the waiter came back with them after 10minutes. There was a birthday also and the staff at this establishment did not perform the duties of celebrating properly. No enthusiasm at all. Their faces said everything when the music sounded. When we got our meals, the chips were warm.and the burger wasn't brilliant. It would have tasted a lot better if they were delivered hot and not warm. When it was time to pay, the waitress doofered about abit and we ended up paying at the bar, which seemed easier than waiting around. Will not be returning to this restaurant...
Gary Gillmeister — Google review
Saturday morning breakfast with the family. Nice decor inside. Our waitress gave us a half hearted welcome, led us to our table, threw the menus on the table and walked away. Food was OK, although no better than the Spoons round the corner, which would have been better value for Eggs Benedict with bacon was tasty, although the side of black pudding was over cooked, as were the pancakes. Perhaps if the waiting and kitchen staff spent less time chatting to one another and were more focused on their jobs, the food and service might have been better. Staff also constantly distracted by Just Eat/takeaway orders, so had to chase for the bill. Would possibly go again, but with the alternatives on offer at Xscape and nearby, I don't think breakfast was particularly good value or that great quality.

We love Frankies & Bennys, great staff, good food and a lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately for me & probably many others they have decided to stop doing the mixed grill. The replacement bbq platter (seen in pic minus the rack of ribs) is overpriced at £30 and not all that.

Got seated at 11:15 am for an early dinner due to our 3 children were trampolining at 1 o'clock. We had to change the trampolining due to the awful service. Sat for over 1 hour and 20 mins awaiting food with over 7 tables coming in, getting served, finishing their meals and leaving the restaurant before we had even recieved the food. I questioned the manager and all he could say was... your food is on its way. Another 20 mins went by and it Still wasn't here. All my kids were really hungry and upset. The staff were not bothered and overall was a horrible experience. No more F&B for me.

Absolutely fantastic meal here today, menu looks to have had a revamp since last time I was there. Went with my sister who is vegan and there is a LOT of vegan options now. I had the rialto salad and it was amazing, and the keylime pie is to die for. Service was great too.

We ordered 2 small children’s meals with the drinks politely asking for them to arrive as soon as they are ready. 25 minutes later someone finally brought our drinks and the adults food order. 50 minutes after ordering, the 3 adult meals arrived and still no sign of children’s meals despite asking 3 times for an update. They had forgotten them so 10 mini after the adults meals came we finally recieved the kids meals. 1hr and 20 minutes after we ordered the children’s meals!!!!!! They got 2 of the 3 adult meals incorrect. Poor service, food was cold and clearly none of the staff communicate!!

New Eastern Court is a Chinese restaurant located downstairs, offering a buffet where skilled chefs prepare food in front of patrons. Above the buffet, there is also an à la carte restaurant. The service and variety of dishes at Eastern Court are consistently excellent. The menu includes popular options like salt and pepper chicken, curry dishes, duck, onion rings, and chicken balls. Additionally, there is a wide selection of desserts available, including a delightful chocolate fountain.

Love that you pay on entry and don't have to wait around for a bill at the end. Drinks order was taken at the entrance and brought out quickly. The staff were fab and even discounted our toddler as hes only small. The buffet has a good range (although some of the fried foods had dried out a little under the heat lamps). The dessert buffet bar was great with options for everyone. Would definitely come back again

Attended last night at around 19:00, it wasn't too busy and had a nice atmosphere. The food was delicious and all piping hot, unlike some buffets I've been to in the past. There was a nice range of food which was clearly allergen labelled. Good selection of desserts as well, which included a chocolate fountain and an ice cream machine. I would definitely recommend and will likely be visiting again.
Ella Ross — Google review
Food was really good and great value for money, only downside is the waitresses or waiters stalking your plate itching to snatch it from under your nose once you've finished. I understand there's got to be a relatively quick turn around regarding tables for other customers but there's nothing worse than being rushed off your chair. I felt like they were watching everything I was putting on my plate and weighing it with their eyes. It says all you can eat and also you pay for what you leave if you do leave anything which I completely understand but just relax a little and stop killing the vibe people just want to eat without having staff hanging about you like you're a shoplifter
Mark Thorpe — Google review
Feels like there aren't many places with self service like this left after covid. Glad we found it! Friendly service and a full range of Chinese favourites. This is a big restaurant with a lot of seating and a buffet area is big enough for everyone. Don't expect the finest food this is not a la carte, but the quality, variety, and freshness were all there. Will definitely be back.
Elliot Speight — Google review
As per many previous reviews; paid on arrival and forced to pay full price for 2 and 4 year old (didn't even measure) after being sternly told that a smaller plate could not be offered and plate sharing with children was prohibited. As a party of 9, we were seated at a table with only 6 chairs and members of our party had to go to find the additional chairs. Food was ok; large selection but low quality and very salty. Staff were very busy and had very little regard for customer satisfaction. However, the custom shows this is a popular restaurant- there were around 40 people waiting to be seated as we were leaving. I would not choose to revisit but understand why do many people go- it's relatively cheap with a huge amount of food to choose from with no plate limit.

There was hardly any food out when we went. What was available was disgusting. The chicken was still pink with blood oozing out. Deserts were not available. Had to ask for them. Overall it wasn't a good experience. Will not be going back.

Three of us went for lunch on 09-02-24 and we were all extremely dissatisfied with this place. Firstly, we ordered drinks on arrival but didn’t receive them until 40 minutes and asking about them with the staff twice. Secondly; the food was so incredibly salty that we only managed two plates each. And lastly, and most importantly, all three of us had incredibly upset stomachs Friday evening and Saturday day. Incredibly poor service and incredibly poor quality. We would never eat here again and have told people we know not to bother either

Better lay out than the old Eastern Court, lots of food choice. Some of the food was a little tepid and salty but overall it was a nice buffet.Paid just over £50 for two with two soft drinks Recommended if your in the area and looking for a Chinese!!!!

Only decent member of staff was the lady who was behind the bar I went for birthday meal with 5 others we arrived at 8 there was hardly any choice of meals not even chow-miens or anything the chicken balls where pick put us off straight away the desert area was basically empty and food trays where also I mentioned to a youngish member of staff asking where half off the products were and he stated we don’t use half of the areas anymore which was fair to say due to Covid then I mentioned how there was hardly any food in the areas which were being used he said why should we cook more food when there isn’t many customers or put out more deserts or anything. So why did I have to pay 109 just for meals when there was no selection or any decent food out things that were available either too salty or just undercooked like the chicken balls. And stuff member was just rude making out I was in the wrong for asking if there was anything to be put out as I paid full for 6 people and yet there was hardly any options to choose from we was offered no discounted price as they refused to fill up anything or just because there was hardly any options so it was a waste of money because some people had one small plate and wasted it as chicken was pink (chicken ball) it was a waste of money as we didn’t even leave full as there was no food and we pre booked so they knew we was arriving I booked weeks ahead Iv emailed the place to discuss but maybe we just had an unlucky visit highly unsatisfied

The first time I visited a couple years ago, we were ‘greeted’ by rude staff and expected to pay before even being seated, not knowing what drinks they had to offer or the price of them. The food was salty and had no flavour other than salt. We said we wouldn’t be going back there but we thought to give it another go, which I wish we didn’t. It was the same again and we were given a table number and expected to find the table ourselves instead of being seated like at any normal restaurant (unless you’re welcome to pick your own seating); we were told we have 90 mins before we even paid or were seated. When we got to our table we asked a staff member if the Highchair could be cleaned; his response was, ‘the spray and paper towel are over there’ 😳 after asking for a manager, he said he was a manager and continued to say he was busy and walked off. EXTREMELY OUT OF ORDER! When I went up to get myself and daughter some food, a man told us to, ‘move, move, move’, so he could refill the food trays, NOT ONCE BUT TWICE! I had to say to him, ‘that is not how you talk to someone, manners do not cost anything.’ He sarcastically said sorry 🙄 Also whilst getting my food and eating, all I could hear was CLASH, BANG, BANG! Staff just knocking plates about whilst emptying them, not having any consideration at all to the diners. Then to sum up our special occasion out, we were then put under pressure to hurry and leave, as the same ‘management’ guy came and put an extra table at the end of ours saying something like, ‘this is for the next customers, as you have 5 minutes left at your table’. Absolutely disgraceful. I will definitely not be returning and will be telling everybody about the poor experiences I have had at this so called restaurant!

Oh me oh my 😋 - what a feast 🍽. Great food with plenty of choice including all your known favourite dishes like salt and pepper chicken / chips and everything in between including curry dishes and duck to onion rings chicken balls. Then there is also a large selection of desserts too including none other than a chocolate fountain yum yum. From entering its a lovley experience and the lady behind the till was all smiles and very welcoming. Then it was time to fill my belly and boy did I fill it 😋😋😋 thanks for a lovley experience and feed.
