Bodies of Water
The National Park of Dartmoor is a large area full of rugged landscape waiting to be explored. There are a number of villages throughout the park, as well as Dartmoor Prison and Castle Drogo. The national park also holds events and activities throughout the year for visitors of all ages.
Saw some waterfalls, some wild ponies, some brilliant scenery and a goat. The Dartmoor is a fabulous place. Will see more on this latest trip to Devon. Plenty to do and see for all ages. Do yourself a favour and visit here if you're in the area.
Mark Minehan — Google review
A beautiful place with great walks and fabulous views. Lots of Dartmoor ponies roam around, along with sheep. Please drive cautiously as the sheep do wander into the road. Fantastic sunsets, and if you're lucky, you may even see a simultaneous moon rise as we did during early August.
Liz Glen — Google review
Impossible not to like the exuberant beauty of Dartmoor park, very well signposted trails will take you to places where you can observe spectacular views in the midst of wildlife. Wild ponies can be easily seen freely grazing which will give an even more special charm during your walk.
Rafael Angelucci — Google review
Love Dartmoor, great walks and the ability to get miles away from any civilisation is great! Challenging terrain, don’t go unprepared if you’re going to head deep into the moor! Weather can be horrendous and change quickly. River crossings are not uncommon!
peter78 — Google review
So glad to have this just down the road from me! So many great walks to be had across the moors, and a lot of history to be learned. I love finding the old ruins and stone circles, seeing the ponies, and taking photos. Sunny weather is ideal but it's much better when the fog rolls in!
BecomeTheAtlas — Google review
Amazing amazing amazing. This is a must to go to visit. Such an idyllic place to go. Very dog friendly and kid friendly a massive expanse to go investigate. So much to do and experience I honestly can't say enough great things about it. The pubs, parks, walks, views all spectacular!!
Chris Allum — Google review
Love it here. Peaceful and a lovely place to walk. We saw sheep with their young, ponies, birds of prey, and heard cuckoo's calling as well as many wild flowers. Unfortunately, there were people allowing their dogs to run wild despite signs stating they should be on leads. There were lots of sheep with young lambs. These places are for all of us to enjoy. Your enjoyment shouldn't encroach on others or the creatures that live there
J B — Google review
Love it on Dartmoor, no better place to relax and just breathe fresh air. The wildlife and animals make it such a peaceful place
OMGJaydenTV — Google review
A beautiful, natural and historic area with great views, walks, wild animals and landmarks. It can get windy and cold up here, but the fresh air is lovely
Nathan Dore — Google review
This place is HUGE. Got the trains there to spend a few hours there in the beautiful, mesmerising, tranquil countryside. It's stunning scenery stretches for miles. Loved every minute. Thank goodness for Google maps and a very kind passerby to put me in the right direction. After seeing the 9 stone circle advertised on Google Maps had to go on an adventure to see it.
Maple Acer — Google review
Fantastic, hauntingly beautiful area with ancient rock outcroppings. You could see into the faded horizon. The children climbed the subtle grade and jumped on rocks. Wonder and wander and freedom to your own thoughts.
Deborah Waddington — Google review
Dartmoor is an incredibly beautiful location, and it is fat more diverse than many people realise. The main town, Prince Town, and the prison are well worth a visit, but better still, pull on a pair of boots and head out for the solitude of the tors spread across the Moor. The weather can, and often does, change very rapidly on the Moor. Make sure you are well equipped for bad weather. Also, make sure you have plenty of water and snacks when out on hikes.
DMJ AM — Google review
Very scenic and interesting location, also good for children and dogs. Many Dartmoor ponies, sheep and Highland cattle can be seen. However, the weather has it´s own plans and you should always take a jacket or rain gear with you.
Sarina Cl A — Google review
Wow stunning even in the rain!! The ponies running wild made our visit.
Janet Marshall — Google review
This was the most peaceful I have found myself for a good time. With always being in a city you can forget that just some silence, fresh air and a good walk can do. I don't know when but I'm defo gonna bring myself here again. Also bring snacks and be prepared to have a big bladder because theres a lack on amenities around here.
Joshua Wilkinson-Gavin — Google review
Your experience and enjoyment of dartmoor really depends on the weather. On a good sunny day everything is clear, you can have enjoyable and easy walks. On the other hand, torrent rain and wind can really make it miserable. Be prepared for both conditions as weather here can change within a blink of an eye.
Anthony Chan — Google review
Love this place so much. Please please don't just go to haytor! There are much better places on either side. And please get out of sight of your car even if just for a little stroll. Cannot recommend more!
Jonathan Hill — Google review
We recently had a fantastic stay at ' the chapel ' at Lettaford. A landmark trust property, right on the edge of Dartmoor. A really peaceful and quite small hamlet, consisting of four previously working farms. Loads of history and lovely walks, as short or as long as you want. No mobile signal and no WiFi, just a small stream bubbling away next to the chapel.
andrew shaw — Google review
Love being here. The peace, the wildlife and the scenery. I just wish drivers would be a little more considerate of the roaming animals.

Sights & Landmarks
Buckland Abbey is a magnificent Cistercian abbey and estate museum with beautiful gardens, situated in woodlands. It is one of Henry VIIIs acquisitions during the Dissolution of the Monasteries and was later bought by Sir Richard Grenville who sold it to his cousin and maritime rival Sir Francis Drake.
This was my first visit to the Abbey and its one of those places that is on your doorstep that you take for granted and never go. Literally a 5 minute drive from home, it is easy to find and well sign posted. Upon arrival there is plenty of parking and ample disabled spaces closer to the entrance. A buggy is also on hand if you are unable to walk down the small hill. I paid my entrance fee as I'm not a member which included gift aid, at £14.30 it turned out to be money well spent. We decided to walk around the estate first and chose the blue 3 mile route, it wasn't arduous but they are shorter options via the red and yellow routes. When we returned we popped into the cafe for lunch. All the staff were friendly and attentive the food was very good especially after a walk. It is also dog friendly which personally I never agree with in places that serve food but those are the rules! We then wandered to the Abbey via the Great Barn. It was full of history and with so much of the original architecture/flooring etc it made it more interesting. Once back outside it was the obligatory visit to the shop. Well worth a visit
Anthony Woodley — Google review
A little gem, one of the most history rich venues from the national trust. A great venue for kids and adults alike, expect to be busy for a few hours in the main grounds. Plenty of walks lasting four miles or under. A four out of five star due to the cafe visit… no welcome and a sausage roll (labelled a small meal) is nearly £4, the same with a sandwich and £6.95 for a scone with jam, massive joke for anyone trying to visit for lunch.
Ben — Google review
Had a wonderful sunny day at the Abbey. Garden is nice and well kept. Cafe is good. Clean toilet facilities. However, the exhibits inside the abbey is a bit lacking compared to many others we’ve visited. The volunteers & staffs were very nice and helpful. Ample parking. For £14.50 per person, it’s worth a visit.
ahmad zahidi Ismail — Google review
Beautiful National Trust property. Extensively restored. Good range of walks around the extensive grounds. The Abbey is extremely interesting being the former home of Sir Francis Drake. Tavistock legend and Caribbean pillager. Car park is a short 5 minute walk but there is an electric car to the abbey of needed. Cafe, bookshop and plant sales
Chris Prettejohn — Google review
Beautiful place. All events we've been to, were great. Kids had lost of fun. Cafe is always busy, but food is really good. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Such a gorgeous place to visit. The gardens and plants were lovely. The displays and information in the house were very good. The cafe was clean and the food tasty. I'd recommend visiting on a sunny day if possible to get the best experience from the amazing gardens. Parking was free.

Lovely National Trust Abbey to visit. Interesting information about Sir Francis Drake in the Abbey. Lovely cafe and shop in a wonderful setting. Unable to take advantage of the stunning walks due to heavy rain the day we visited but definitely will be making a return visit
Angela Jordan — Google review
Fantastic place to spend a day. There's plenty to see and do, including a tour of Francis Drake's House with interactive displays, walks, craft shops, outside lawn games and a play area for the kids. The site is beautiful and serene with fascinating displays of agricultural tools and a breath taking great barn. The café serves delicious homemade meals and there is plenty of seating inside and out. A word of warning though..do not use your sat navigation to get there; you'll end up in the middle of nowhere down very tight lanes. Use the directions given on their website. Have fun!
Michael Lees — Google review
We went specifically to see the barn as they decorate it, we wasn't disappointed. Another great display. Even had carol singing too which sounded amazing. Good also to look around the Abbey. Interesting rooms and displays to look at. The volunteers are always very happy talk and explain any of your queries. Highly recommended.
Ian Beckly — Google review
Loved our visit to festive Buckland Abbey, the river of light barn was great filled with lit Christmas trees. The volunteers were all helpful and knowledgable. The history was interesting and the exhibits informative. Loved the old furniture.
Jay Audas — Google review
I was looking for a good coffee, walk in the countryside and a delicious lunch and found everything at Buckland! It was a much more extensive and varied place than I expected. I was pleased to find a good sized cafe in a building with character and started my visit with coffee. I went on to do the longer "blue" estate walk - it was only 3 miles on paths across fields and through woodland - but the quietness and solitude, the lush greenness, and sound of the river below, really gave me the sense that I'd found a piece of heaven. A delicious veggie chilli and cheese scone restored my energy levels, before a quick look around the house. I was surprised to discover that Sir Francis Drake had lived there and the house was more engaging than I'd expected. The gift shop was quite large and also sold plants. There was also a separate second hand bookshop and an art and craft workshop. I could easily have spent the whole day there, finding places to sit, relax and read. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

National Trust: Beautiful place for walking around and visit. Nice Perspective, great garden and lovely natural atmosphere. Many historical ,memorable times available , looks like a small museum. That's good for adults but it is boring for children because it has not interested for kids . If they have some facilities for children should be useful because my children said very boring after visiting. Larg parking area, clean toilets and sometimes for for and drinking available.
MOSTAFA — Google review
Nice house and grounds, some good walks although the red walk at 2.5miles felt longer due to hills. Nice shop, some plants. Good displays inside about Sir Frances Drake. Nat Trust summer of fun was well done for kids.
Andy001z — Google review
Nice place to visit for a day out. Gardens are well kept and the house was amazing. Slice of cake was a bit expensive but worth it.
Dot — Google review
The Abbey itself is beautiful. We turned up on a cold winter day so didn't bother with the gardens. The Barn was dressed for Xmas, with the Ice Fayre in 15/1600s? London being the theme. Interesting and fun. Sadly, we felt extremely rushed going around the Abbey. Last entry at 3 (we entered at 2:50) and we were rushed around and scuttled out by 3:25. I understand that the staff may be set to finish at a certain time but if the house is set to close at 3:30 then last entries need to be 2:30 at the latest. The staff were all pleasant but seemed like they couldn't wait to get out of there.... With the exception of Cally, who had all the time and enthusiasm to discuss and answer questions. Would like to visit again with more time to experience it properly.
clairedolci — Google review
Stunning lovely grounds to walk around too. Beautiful views. Lots of interesting artifacts walking around the house with Beautiful furniture. Loved the ceilings.
Libby Pymont — Google review
Nice quiet location easily accessed from the moors, plenty of 🅿️ with toilet, easy walk to the entrance with cafe and outside seating, couple of shops and to the barn which is impressive. Dog friendly apart from inside the abbey, lovely gardens and there are specific walks through the estate. There were numerous activities for children/families outside the barn. The actual Abbey structure is beautiful and well maintained as are all outside spaces. I went in the doorway but it was a meet and greet by volunteers and I had someone visiting in front of me droning on a bit, I had restricted time so will review the internal space when I have had time to truly appreciate it. A lovely site, tranquil and worth a visit
Chris Evans — Google review
Lovely gardens, amazing house. Very interesting layout of the house to depict the era of Sir Francis Drake. And an original Rembrandt. Will definitely return
Sarah Puddy — Google review
My partner and I visited here at the end of October with our friends and their children (aged 1 and 5). We had a lovely day out. The building and its history are so interesting..we love Tudor history, so learning all about Sir Francis Drake was brilliant. The kids were in awe at the massive nautical paintings, whilst we enjoyed the Rembrandt self-portrait. The children (and adults!) enjoyed dressing up and also going onto the replica boat and learning through play as to how to navigate the seas- very engaging. The gardens were still blooming and looking beautiful. We bought a few books from the 2nd hand book shop. We enjoyed some hot drinks from the cafe. Easy to find, easy to park. We got in for free as National Trust members.

A stunning National Trust property offering an insight into the enchanting history of the abbey development over the years and Its repurpose as a grand Home. All of the volunteers here were helpful and offered extra insight into the property's details and its exquisite decoration. Abi sits on incredible grounds with beautiful walks throughout the gardens, and it is a lovely place to visit in the winter. The gardens come to life in the spring and summer.

The Garden House is an enchanting garden with a diverse range of plants in different themed areas on the grounds of the Millhouse Hotel in Dartmoor, Devon. It has on-site nursery and tearoom, making it a great place to visit year-round.
This place is a hidden treasure it's beautiful. We'll worth a visit. Membership is great too. This would make a lovely birthday present 🎁. The tea room also has some delicious treats. You can come and go as often as you like. 😌

Absolutely gorgeous charity gardens, lay out is so unusual, with many plants not featured in other gardens and plants for sale too! What more could you want! Maybe food, had a delicious coronation quiche with salad, so tasty. Well worth a visit.

We visited here on a recommendation and were so pleased that we did. Stunning gardens in June; wildflowers and naturalistic planting, beautiful trees, trails, and open spaces. The walled garden was very pretty and it wasn't too busy when we went. I should imagine it constantly changes through the seasons but always remains peaceful and beautiful. There is a nice little cafe offering some welcome shade and refreshments. Good coffee and v nice cake. Highly recommended.

What a treasure this is! Many quiet spots to sit and take in the scale and beauty of both the 'wild garden' and the wonderful walled garden. All the facilities you would want including a cafe for refreshments. Will visit again in the different seasons as sure to have interest at each.

Fabulous Christmas wreath making at Garden House. Wonderful instruction from Maria using beautiful foliage cut from the gardens. Great value for money and delicious afternoon tea in the cafe.

Saw all the fairies and dragons as well as the beautiful garden. Had a great time, even in the rain. The staff were absolutely lovely, making a real effort with my 3 year old and letting him help in the garden centre 🙂

We'd been meaning to visit for a while. The weather wasn't ideal, but we went anyway, as it was my birthday. Helpful staff, a lovely café and stunning gardens all made it a good visit. Stunning, in the promise of even better things to see later in the year when thousands more plants would be in flower. My 'birthday cake, was scrummy :)

Lovely garden with plenty to see right at the end of October. We loved the colours of the acers and there were any other late flowering plants around. The Gardeners and volunteers were both friendly and helpful. I would certainly hope to visit the garden again at a different time of year.

Flea & Street Markets
Dating back to 1105, the Tavistock Pannier Market has been a staple for over 900 years, offering a variety of goods traded in a covered hall from Tuesday to Saturday. The market gets its name from the baskets used for transporting goods. Visitors can find something for everyone, with various food outlets available when needing to rest and recharge at Bob's East End cafe or other options.
✨️great selection of market stalls and little cafes surrounding the area ☕️🍰 perfect for finding a present for someone or if you just want to treat yourself !
StarLight Blue2 — Google review
Great little market offering a wide range of gifts, foods, drinks, crafts etc. we walked into town from our local cousins house as parking is an art form on a weekend apparently. It was quite busy but some of the items for sale were truly special. Totally worth a visit if you’re in the area.
peter78 — Google review
Well worth a visit. An interesting selection of stalls inside with craft, antiques and clothing. On the outside there are cafes and small shops.
David Crouchen — Google review
Lovely little area, worth a peruse if youre visiting. Lots of little places to visit and nice to walk around the street too. Its like a little flee market where you can buy lots of random little things; books, animal food, trinkets, antiques etc. Theres also a little cafe inside. Bought a nice little christmas ornament from one of the little shops.
FOOD NINJA96 — Google review
I've been here numerous times but I still get excited walking through the old doors to this market. Lots of great stalls selling a wide range of vintage clothes, records and accessories as well as homemade crafts and food items. Also, several good cafes to relax and have a drink or bite to eat, before checking out all the gourmet shops selling cheeses, meats, cakes and other goodies.
Philip Hall — Google review
I found the market very pleasant and a thriving place to visit. There are plenty of little cafes on the outside all serving hot and cold food and drinks. Inside the market lots of little stalls from cakes to toys to hats to pet goods. Thoroughly enjoyed it

Lovely shopping precinct including personal stalls, bric a brac, handmade. Outdoor/indoor and undercover dining. Superb public toilets. Parking close by. Access to all.
Rachel Shanahan — Google review
Not sure whether quaint and class go with each other... but it is what the pannier market is all about...there is something for everyone and when you have finished perusing and feel there is a need to rest your legs and top your energy reserves, then roll up to Bob's East End cafe. Light airy and warm you will not get high cuisine but you will get really good traditional dishes. Other good food outlets are available.

Stopped over while exploring Dartmoor. Small quiet town, beautiful. The market is a mix of everything. Quite interesting antique items. My wife bought a leather pouch made in Italy. Parking is a bit scarce. We parked at 1£ 1 hr max paid parking near the market. Public toilet is clean.

Lovely place to spend time browsing. A great mix of traders selling new and vintage goods. From arts and crafts to new outdoor clothing. Free to visit, but do check opening days. Also a good place to visit on a wet day as it's all indoors. In a beautiful very historic building. Surrounded by a trading quadrangle. Well worth a visit.

Lots of quality locally made crafts for sale and cafes like Dukes, special offer cake ( eg bakewell slice) and a coffee for £5.50

Loveliest indoor market - great historical setting and a great variation of stalls: local specialities, food, antiques, old bits and bobs, dog food, plants, hats - and nice cafés and eat-places all around. Tavistock, my favourite town in the westcountry! 🥰
Katharina Cranz — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed looking around the market, just on the outside there is a cheese shop ( wish I could remember the name) anyway, their cheese is unbelievably tasty. We plan on going there regularly to get our cheese now.

A great selection of local arts crafts, food and produce. Friendly stall holders, restaurants and cafes make this part of a great day out in Tavistock. Try the locally made pasties and relax for a coffee after your wander through the fascinating array of products... I loved the stall with ancient glass bottles and jars, there's something for everyone here...

Located on the western edge of Dartmoor in Devon, England, Lydford Gorge is a natural wonder and a hidden gem. Managed by the National Trust, it offers free entry to members and features the deepest river gorge in the South West. Visitors can marvel at the 27-meter-high White Lady Waterfall and experience the thundering water of Devils Cauldron as it cascades into deep pools below.
Really enjoyed our day here. We opted for the two shorter walks due to health conditions in our party. They were quite challenging with steep hills and uneven paths so would recommend you consider this before attending. The Devil's Cauldron and Waterfall were worth the walks. Reasonable price to get in if you're not at a member at £10. Nice little tea rooms at either end for refreshments.
Jess Lightfoot — Google review
Very nice walk through the gorge and woods. Didn't see alot of people, so was very quiet for most of the walk apart from the birds and running water.
Benjamin Murtagh (Benjamin Murtagh) — Google review
Enjoyed a day out here whilst on holiday in Devon. What an amazing place to visit with scenic and, in places, very interesting walks. The waterfall here is obviously the main attraction but there is so much more here to see as you make your way around the gorge. We started from the devils cauldron end - the devils cauldron sadly closed for repairs at the time of our visit - and did the complete loop taking in the waterfall followed by the riverbed walk back to where we had started. You can also start from the waterfall entrance, though i feel starting there would put the most dramatic and scenic part of the walk first and make the second half a little anticlimactic. Sturdy walking footwear is definitely recommended and I am not sure how some with mobility issues would fair with some sections of the walk, so may want to look further into this if planning a visit.
Terry Smith — Google review
Lovely day out with children, babies and dogs. Amazing sceneries, nature in full spring, we have enjoyed every moment ♥️
Joanna Kudela — Google review
It's just beautiful here. Years ago we nearly lost my little brother going across a wooden plank at the Cauldron, but these days there is a sturdy metal viewing platform. Still, you need to be steady on your feet and reasonably fir, as the ground is natural slate and gravel and uneven, and if you opt to do the complete walk there is a lot of steep uphill effort! I love the natural beauty and wildlife, and saw a red deer and beautiful birds, even though it was a wet day. The Castle Inn is lovely ( a little pricey, but this is Britain in the Summertime!) and there is free parking opposite - a godsend. There's the added bonus of the ruins of a 'castle' (really a courtroom and jail) and a beautiful old church, superb in its upkeep and detail. The photographer of the family will be spoiled for awesome scenes to shoot! With the usual National Trust cafe, with all it's gorgeous home-made fayre Lydford is well worth a day out!
Grace Devine — Google review
The views are beautiful but I wasn’t impressed with being charged for full price family ticket with a donation (over £30) without being informed that part of a trail is closed and we had to walk on the road without a footpath to see the castle and nearly had been ran over. We traveled 50 miles to get there. The cafe was average, but at least toilets were available.I’m feeling robbed to be honest, but that was educational experience.
Agnieszka Sibley — Google review
Gave it four stars as we've been before. BUT, after a 90 min journey there we found it was closed on a lovely sunny June day "due to high winds". Seriously!!! The NT website I checked in the morning for Opening Times did warn this could happen (and for foods) and said "check website" (err, I am reading it and you claim to be open today). Turns out you have to scroll back to the top (not the place on the page where Google puts you) and read the little yellow warning box 🙄
Shaun B — Google review
Beautiful waterfall and paddling area. Scary side cliff walks. But great for climbers. Alternative straight path options. I found the cafe very expensive. The staff on entrance were very welcoming and informative. Beautiful area of outstanding beauty. Quite a journey by bus. But can be done.

A beautiful wooded gorge with Waterfall and cascades. Walk along the gorge, with steps, to the white lady Waterfall, then back alongside the river to see the cascades close by. Check the National Trust website for opening times.

Absolutely beautiful woodland walk! The waterfall trail is just stunning!

One of the best places I've visited down here. Approx 3.5hr walk from devils cauldron to lydford Gorge and back. Coffee shop/ice cream half way near the gorge which was great. Take a towel! Path does get narrow and slippery on stone trail from gorge to cauldron but hand rails are in place and my 4 year old loved it!
Josh Reeve — Google review
Nice two waterfalls, main walk was shut due to landslide though. So have to drive to both main waterfall and devils cauldron. Paths can be slippy and path to devils cauldron is quite sketchy.
Graham — Google review
Not the average National Trust visit! This waterfall viewing walk includes an incredibly fun path up through the gorge. This is very exposed and slippery in places, there is a hand rail but no safety fence between you and the fast flowing water below so might not be suitable for misbehaving children and dogs. I completed the full circular walk with a baby on my back so not too dangerous but a challenge none the less and extremely beautiful throughout. I enjoyed it very much and will definitely visit again.

The privately-owned establishment provides elegant accommodation with 16 rooms, ensuring a warm welcome and personalized service for guests. The hotel also offers free Wi-Fi and parking facilities.
We recently got married at the Horn of Plenty and had the most perfect day. A truly memorable and amazing venue. The whole team made us feel so welcome and nothing was an issue. From the initial look around to the day itself the communication and attention to detail was excellent. Shirna and Mia were very accommodating with all aspects of our day, especially the last minute changes in the week leading up to the wedding. The food was delicious and we had many compliments from our guests. We weren't limited to a 'set menu' like menu wedding venues. We were able to sit down with Ashley the head chef and design a bespoke menu based around our favourite foods which was a lovely personal touch. The hotel rooms are lovely, all with individual character and very clean. We will definitely be back to stay for our anniversary. Big thank you to the whole team at the Horn of Plenty for making our wedding so special.

We had our wedding at The Horn of Plenty in November and from the beginning of our journey when visiting the venue for a tour, it has been fantastic service. The entire team at the hotel are lovely and welcoming. Shirna and Mia of the Events Team were so efficient at responding to emails and with dealing and arranging the big day itself. They made us feel so at ease. The food is also impeccable. The hotel itself is spotless and you are guaranteed a relaxed, comfy stay in spacious rooms. Beautiful views from every room we viewed. We wouldn't hesitate coming back to reminisce whether it be a meal, overnight stay or even an afternoon tea. Thank you Horn of Plenty.

The horn of Plenty will always keep a special place in hearts!

My partner and I stayed for less than 12 hours. Arriving late and leaving after breakfast to collect a puppy. However we were greeted with a smile from Matt and set up with a lovely room to rest and recuperate from. Breakfast was most relaxing and breakfast staff were very attentive. We collected puppy and made it back to the south east safely and will definitely be returning for a longer stay...with the dog!

We visited The Horn of Plenty for my birthday yesterday, using a 'Celebration Dinner' voucher for two, I had been given by my team. Young Jacob looked after us all night and was a little star. We found out that he had only been working there a short while. Dinner was very nice, the duck starter a little tough, but the rest of the dinner was lovely. We were asked to move to the Drawing Room at approx 1015pm, which if I'm honest, given we were only going to be 10 minutes or so more, could have waited. We've dined in very fine establishments and have never been asked to move so that they could make up the table for the next day. Another couple was asked as well who we were talking to. As we moved to the Drawing Room, we asked if we needed to pay any additions and we were then given the full bill. The lady (I'm assuming the manager) did not realise we had a celebration dinner voucher. Bit embarrassing for both ourselves and her, as when I booked I informed them of this with the voucher number and was also asked to bring the voucher along. It's the little attentions to detail I find that make an experience. That being said, we had a lovely evening and Jacob is going to be a very good addition to the staff. He was very personable and we had some nice little chats between courses. We forgot to leave a tip, so we passed this in this morning.

Well, what can I say about this beautiful gem of a place. Stayed here for one night as a treat for my partners birthday just fantastic the staff were lovely, very helpful and super friendly the room was just pure luxurious and the food, well, this was simply fine dining at its best 👌. When we was asked how our meal was I replied "just perfect " I handed our waitress the salt and pepper mills and said you don't need these on the table they are an insult the the chefs, the food was perfectly seasoned and we all agreed and chuckled to each other. If you get the chance "GO" you won't be disappointed.

Stunning views, amazing food, excellent service. Absolutely fantastic place. From now on one of my favourite places. Thank you so much for our experience today!

Not good at all, rooms are noisy from people going in and out slamming doors. Sat for an hour and a half in the restaurant and all I got was a small plate of leaves with Beetroot and dressing. A group of rich people came in and they were served within minutes and their main meals not long after. Have now left and gone to a local pub who deserves my custom. Not happy with The Horn of Plenty...a lot of money for little service. Update: they said 35 minutes was given between arrival and my main meal, then why did I sit there for an hour having only eaten 3 lettuce leaves, a tiny sliced beetroot and a teaspoon of dressing? Why was I then waiting a further 30 minutes from that point, still having no main meal in front of me. Yet a rich family walk in and are given preferential treatment straight away over everybody else. Stop telling lies Horn of Plenty, I'm not a fool.

Very good food. Friendly staff. Comfortable lounge and library. Well appointed bedrooms. Great view from the dining room. Terrace seating for when the weather is better. Relaxed, but smart, dress code adopted by clientele. Adequate car parking. Some rooms in adjacent building but plenty of umbrellas available. Highly recommended.

Although the rooms were not as expected I.e very small the view from our window was out of this world. The staff were fantastic polite, and friendly and could not do enough for us. The menu was nothing special with the first night's choice of Venison very disappointing and bland. The second night the chef redeemed himself and the roast beef was awesome both of us enjoyed it. Again first-day breakfast was lukewarm and the bacon was overcooked and disappointing, to say the least, the second day we had salmon and scrambled eggs were perfect. All this said we would book again love the building, atmosphere, and interior design views outstanding but the winning part of our break was the staff 👌

Started well turned into a disaster!! So myself and my partner attended the Horn of Plenty for an evening meal. We first had a walk around the grounds followed buy a cup of tea. The waitress that served us very friendly and helpful. We moved from the lounge into the main restaurant area and the views are beautiful. We had the 3 course set menu which was priced at £69. The starter was a little bland and lacked flavours but the other two courses were lovely. Unfortunately for us we left felt very disappointed due to the fact the owner Jeremy was sat at a table behind us and creating a lot of drama around his food that he was served. I was absolutely shocked at the way he spoke to his waitress and how rude he was being about the food he received. One comment from himself was ‘I don’t like rhubarb yet it’s all over my plate and looks a mess’ However the desert was a rhubarb white chocolate and pistachio mousse which I thought was lovely. So I do not understand why he ordered it. He then shouted about the lack of white chocolate, which the waitress explained it was in the mousse and he cussed and sent it back. The way he sent food back to the kitchen was in a very unpleasant manor and made us feel very uncomfortable. Jeremy also decided to storm into the kitchen at one point again very unprofessional. We couldn’t wait to leave. I would like to point out his staff did not deserve to be treated like that and we enjoyed the majority of our food. We will not be returning just due to the lack of respect towards his staff and the uncomfortable position he put us in whilst trying to eat our meal. It was definitely not a good experience. The worst part of all was the fact we were looking at the possibility of having our wedding here!.

Disappointed. Stayed here for a wedding and though the location is perfect, the hotel and service not so great. Room 2 is dated and smells musty. At £210 per night it was a huge disappointment. Of all the rooms in the main house this is definitely the worst and should be avoided. Hotel service was good in some places, breakfast especially, however being told to "get everyone back to their rooms" at midnight on the wedding night is unacceptable. A LOT of money was spent on the wedding and for the day to end like that was unacceptable.

Visited for lunch. Beautiful venue, the views are stunning. The food and the service were both impeccable. Lunch for a 3 course meal was only £30 a head... Which for the quality is very cheap I'd have been happy paying £50 a head easily. Highly recommend.

We got married at the horn of plenty in August and we had the most incredibly magic day. All the staff were amazing from our first visit until we left the following day. Visited with my mum and sister for lunch. The food was well cooked and well presented. The service was impeccable. The wine quality was excellent considering we didn't choose a "name". The location and views are stunning. Thank you to Jeremy for a friendly chat, and particularly for the wine! Wish I lived nearer so I could come more often.

The Cornish Arms is a great example of an old fashioned English country inn. It's been run by the same family for centuries and offers quaint rooms and suites as well as a gastropub with a beer garden. Chef John Hooker has created something special here: his smart but still convivial food remains true to its West Country roots. Expect dishes like the Cornish monkfish to be cooked...
We had an amazing meal for my partner’s birthday, absolutely delicious food, everyone enjoyed it very much, even kids demolished their burgers:) It’s our go to restaurant, we wanted to show it to the family and they all loved it. We found a birthday card on a table on arrival which was a lovely touch. Genuinely highly recommend everything on a menu! You won’t be disappointed, bread and whipped butter is a must though! Thank you to the whole team for another great experience:)

Stopped here for dinner enroute to Plymouth on the Devon Coast to Coast cycle route. Wow ! The chicken curry was one of the best curries I have ever had (and that is quite a lot I might add). Just beautiful depth to it, the chicken was succulent and perfectly cooked. I thoroughly recommend it. There was also a warm welcome at the pub, and I enjoyed two perfect pints of Tribute. So good, we are considering the 90 minute drive from Bristol to have it again.

One of the tastiest meals we have ever had, and we do eat out often. Staff were lovely, the place resides in a little quaint village. Do not listen to any other bad review as they are completely wrong. 10/10 even the kids ate it all 🙈 we would definitely recommend any of the steaks. *****

Recently refurbished, The Cornish Arms is tastefully decorated but so classy. We had drinks here on Saturday with family members, the atmosphere is always nice, warm and friendly. They are rather expensive for drinks and food but the seem to cater for more discerning clientele. That said the food is high class gourmet, the beer was top quality so all in all to be expected I guess. We loved it all the same.

Hands down the best restaurant for miles and miles (and more miles). The food is wonderful! Flavours are incredible, creative and well balanced. Produce is always best quality and very fresh, cooked to perfection. We go for special occasions and have never been disappointed. Service is amazing too, extremely professional and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. Personally, one of my favourite places to eat in the UK.

A fish & chips to die for. Among the very best I've had & I've had fish & chips on 5 continents. What do great? The lightest batter around a fabulous fillet. Mushy peas full of flavour. And great chips - lots of people do great chips. The starter was a Scotch egg but with a ham hock surround. Beautiful food.

If you are looking for basic pub food this is the wrong place to go. The food experience was Michelin class. The plating was simple with the main ingredient showcased. The vegetable were all placed on seperate plate. The duck was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. If in Tavistock you should not miss this experience if you are a food lover. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Didn't stay but came in to the pub. Good relaxed atmosphere. Excellent selection of beers. Attentive staff and cozy seats by the fireplace. There's a beer garden covered from the rain. As for food, the menu looks very English. You better book a table as they get really busy. Dog friendly pub.

Delicious meal, friendly staff and fast service. Everything about our food was great, we had heard amazing things and we were not disappointed. I had the barbecued mackerel to start and the Newlyn Hake for main. Our only comment would be to allow for more time between starter and main, we were in and out within an hour, our personal preference would be to spend a bit more time between courses.

Came here for food last night with a couple of friends & all three of us thoroughly enjoyed it. For starters I had the Scotch egg, cooked perfectly and paired with the small blue cheese salad it was a great choice. The chicken curry for main was one of the best curries I've eaten at a restaurant ( aside from a curry house ). Full of flavour, chicken thigh meat used & the home made tzatziki went well with the flat bread and I felt fat at full come the end! Didn't really need a dessert in all honesty but couldn't resist. You can't go wrong with a sticky toffee pudding either right! Finished off with a coffee, one of the best meals I've eaten out in a long time. Service was decent and the restaurant itself is a nice setting also. Looking forward to coming back!

Had a beautiful Sunday roast lunch, we travelled from Exeter to Tavistock to try the roast and it did not disappoint, we heard it had amazing reviews and we would give it 5/5 too. Everything was full of flavour, loads of pork and beef served, I’d only say it’s a pity the sticky toffee pudding isn’t very photogenic as it looks more like a beef burger, with a roast caramelised parsnip on top and the butterscotch sauce looks like lard, thank goodness it tasted incredible, not bad at all£65 for two courses with 2 cokes. We would definitely return

Visited for lunch. Amazing experience. We both had the pulled beef arancini to start. This has an amazing effect on me: it actually lowered my heart rate. Honestly, I felt overcome with a calmness that was beatific. The main course was roast beef/ brisket. Again, amazing. My other half had pork which, by all accounts was fantastic. A large gin and tonic to start. A large glass of montepulciano to accompany the beef and my other half had a beer. £84. Superb

New Years Eve meal. I was very surprised to get a table on new years eve as I'd left it late to book somewhere. Was thrilled to get a table and the food and service did not disappoint. I had the pate to start and the chicken curry for my main. Both were lovely, the chicken curry was delicious and one of the best curries I've ever had. I did have a dessert of pear and apple trifle but I really didn't need it as I was full but this was also very good . Service was excellent. Will definitely be back .

Impeccable. The Cornish Arms is a wonderful establishment. I've eaten here a number of times and will always come back for the food, which is always incredible. Having stayed recently, the experience surpassed my high expectations. The team will brighten the dullest of days and the rooms are absolutely on point.

Firstly the food is absolutely amazing though not cheap. The staff are very polite and can’t do enough to make your dining experience the best it can be. The rooms are so nice especially if you have one of the big rooms with the freestanding baths. Location is fab right in the centre of Tavistock and only a cpl of miles and you are deep on Dartmoor. All in all perfect

Excellent service excellent food. It is not cheap, but the price reflects the quality of the food and the service. Comfortable and not packed close to fit in as many tables as possible. My only criticism is that it may be a little bright in there and less "intimate" than other places. But if you want a great meal with an excellent menu, this is the place to go..

The Polizzi Collection's Hotel Endsleigh is an 1811 shooting lodge set in 108 acres of beautiful gardens and countryside overlooking the River Tamar. The hotel has 19 rooms decorated individually with antiques and modern furnishings, all dog-friendly, which are perfect for a relaxing stay. The hotel also has a restaurant serving local cuisine and afternoon tea making it the ideal place to spend a day or two.
A peaceful hotel set away in a beautiful Devon valley. A lovely old building with great open fire places. This is a place to go for a quiet retreat in the countryside, well away from city life. You can go for long walks in the beautiful grounds. Staff were exemplary. Polite, attentive and friendly. Food was exceptional. We enjoyed the spring menu which was fresh and well balanced. The wine menu was excellent with a wide selection of old and new world wines - although the markup on some wines was probably a bit on the high side. This is not somewhere to go for an action packed holiday, or for lots of activities. There are no spa or gym facilities. But if you want a relaxing break away in beautiful surroundings then we could not recommend this venue more highly.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The day we arrived we were upgraded to a suite which was bigger than most flats. We had our dog with us and everything is set up beautifully. We had breakfast with our dog in a dining area which overlooked the gardens, all 108 acres of them which are stunning. We went for an hours walk around them and let our dog off lead which was lovely. Food and service excellent. Everywhere spotlessly clean. We will definitely go back.

We stayed here over Christmas for 5 nights. The property itself is gorgeous. The food was a disaster. The first day we ate lunch and dinner at the hotel. My husband got food poisoning, we think it was the game terrine. He was bed bound for two days. After informing the staff of what happened they were sympathetic but nothing was really done to compensate us except for removing the cost of one breakfast since we didn’t go down. We however didn’t go down for any breakfasts. My husband barely ate for two days and we were both very wary of the food after that. I heard another guest remark that the food often seemed reheated. I can’t confirm if that’s the case but it was overall disappointing though. Worst of all was Christmas Day lunch. At £120 pp it should be top quality. The main being the worst. A low quality turkey roll, poorly cooked veg, and the most miserable gravy and roast potatoes. We left after the main and went for a walk. I’ll attach a photo of it below but they should be ashamed to have served up that meal. I watched as other guests left half finished plates, at least in our section of the restaurant. Unfortunately we won’t ever go back, which is such a shame as if the food had been good I would go back every month or two for a getaway. In general the service was great, and really appreciated, but that should be the case in such a place. We ended up spending nearly £3,000 for a 5 day trip. Bitterly disappointed! I didn’t have the energy to contest anything at check out.

Lovely waiting staff, service is not the quickest but I suppose that is the point of the dining experience at this venue. For people who have children there is a kids menu as well but I will say that the portions are big either for kids or adult meals. Grounds are really lovely with a couple of nice walk routes around the grounds.

Didn't actually stay here, but myself and a group of friends (15 year olds) got caught in horrible weather and came in drenched to escape it and sit down and warm ourselves by the fire. The staff were lovely and made sure we were warm by the fire, gave one of us a free cup of tea, and even drove us back to the village to keep us out of the cold and the rain. They were genuinely such kind and wonderful people and we felt the need to leave a review to highly recommend this place as it left such a great impression.

Well , what can I say. We were going to stay here and then Covid lockdown started and then we forgot about this place. Booked again yesterday for afternoon tea. Well what can I say, it will not disappoint you , they treat you like ladies and lord. Staff calls you by your last name. Afternoon tea is not cheap like other people said , but it is an experience , I would book it again for a special occasion , and we will be booking it for a dinner in near future. Welcoming place , now I can see what Alex means. Ladies remember to dress nicely and gentlemen to wear a nice shirt. There is no dress code , but it will enhance your experience. Enjoy 😊

The gardens are wonderfully dramatic both around the ravine and the long herbaceous boarder. The walk to the waterfall is well worth it but be warned even in July it was steep and very muddy. The peace and tranquility continues up to the sweeping lawned terrace where for the price of a pub lunch you can enjoy superbly cooked food. I can highly recommend the risotto and the local cider, whilst watching fledgling swallows speed by. I will definitely return sometime.

Exceeded all expectations. So much so that we extended our stay. Location: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Food & Drink: 5/5 Room: 4.5/5 My wife and I stayed at the Endsleigh hotel after deciding to stay in the UK for a ‘minimoon’, post wedding. Mid week, early September, the weather was delightful. We approached the mile long drive down to the grade 1 listed hotel, located on the edge of Dartmoor. Surrounded by so many trees, it really does have a magical feel to it. A very smiley gentleman named Paul greeted us and made us feel very welcome followed shortly by an equally warm and lovely reception from Keira on the front desk - nothing was too much trouble, we were given an option of two effortlessly stylish rooms, our bags were whisked off whilst we were led out to the front lawn where we drank champagne with the most stunning view overlooking the Tamar River. We didn’t leave the grounds of the hotel for our entire stay… there is a beautiful walk through the gardens and along the river and it really is the perfect place to unwind and do nothing but relax, drink and eat great food. It’s clear the hotel attracts a slightly older clientele, written as someone in their mid thirties. It’s understandable when taking into account its location and setup. There is no pool, or tennis courts and as much as those things appeal I wouldn’t change a thing. The service was exceptional. Krzysztof clearly runs a tight ship. Just the right tone - friendly, discreetly stylish, comfortable, quiet, surrounded by lovely gardens, a superb setting, wonderful staff and the most excellent food. Truly impressed and value for money. Thank you again to Keira, Paul & Krzysztof.

Wonderful traditional place. Had great cream teas, staff very friendly. Disappointing though: asked whether I would have to/ could reserve a table for the evening after returning from our walks (we were only visiting - not staying at the hotel) I was told: “I don’t know”. On our return at 7pm I was told that there was no availability- only if we stayed with them for the night. That was really disappointing as I had thought to ask for a booking. Anyway- this is probably the way it is at traditional places, doesn’t help with creating customers, though. The scones were superb, though. I must say. And the place is extremely dog-friendly.

As soon as I had arrived I was made very welcome by the front of house staff. Got myself booked in. Was given my room card, the lovely lady told me where my room would be. and then was asked if I would like to change my evening meal reservation to an earlier time, which I was grateful for, because I did happen to want to change it. Nothing was ever too much for the staff, very attentive, always making sure I had everything I needed and always with a smile. The evening meal was fantastic, cannot fault anything big thumbs up to the chef, I wasn't going to have dessert but it was such an enjoyable evening I could not resist, but I left the dessert in the hands of the waiter which was pure joy, wish I knew his name he was so charming, this fault lies with me, , passion fruit cheesecake was to die for. And the lady playing the Harp was absolutely pure joy to my ears. The room was beautifully decorated and so charming. I had a most restful sleep, The breakfast was wonderful I really wished I could have stayed longer then just the one night. But thank you for making my stay a most wonderful occasion. Will definitely be back to visit this most beautiful hotel in the heart of Dartmoor. The staff should be extremely proud of there selves they are all wonderful.

If you want to get away from it all, and park the car up, where there is nothing to do but go for a nice walk then this is the place to go (although there are things to do a short drive away). There are a couple of easy to follow 'out and back' rambles from the hotel (one with stiles and one without, which can be joined for a more adventurous round trip). The hotel is calm and well presented with attentive staff and what my wife and I think are the best cream teas/coffees in Devon. The rooms are pleasant but light until about midnight due to the outside lights. Be wary in the summer because the nesting birds do cheap at dawn, which is a nice sound to wake up to. I have reviewed the restaurant separately (but as a spoiler it is also good.

Treated to a night away to meet up with friends who live in London. As we live about 30 mins away & love Dartmoor we've been many times for coffee, but never stayed. What a room we had: a 4 poster bed, spacious room on the ground floor with a jacuzzi corner bath. Divine! I didn't really want to leave the room. We had a superb evening meal with informed attentive staff & reasonably-priced wine. We were also treated to some beautiful harp whilst we ate. There is a general sense of a staff enjoying their jobs & sharing this with guests. One cannot help but feel welcomed & looked after. Staff even found me a battery charger for my mobile, which I had left at home. Nothing was too much trouble. We're planning several more stays...in the same room! It couldn't be improved on - a 'pinch me' moment. Very dog friendly and grounds for every mobility as well as all the moor for those wanting more exercise. Perfect in every way! Thank you.

We had our wedding at The Two Bridges Hotel in April and it was the best day! We can't thank Ellen and the team enough. Ellen was incredible from our first meeting through to the day itself. We knew we were in great hands. The entire team were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was surprised at how relaxed I was on the day but that was in many ways down to how well everything was organised by the team and how well looked after we were. Anything I was worried about, they had already thought of and had dealt with it. The hotel itself is beautiful and the Bridal suite was perfect. The food is incredible, everyone has commented on how good it was. Everything went so smoothly (at least it felt like that to me!). Thank you Two Bridges for making our day so very special.

Beautiful location, building and staff. We did a 'murder mystery' evening, such an amazing evening. The food was stunning, 4 amazing courses. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.

Two Bridges Hotel is great little stop almost in the middle of Dartmoor. I didn't stay there I just stopped for a mid-week cream tea and a beer - delicious. The resteraunt is really rustic and the food was excellent, perfect place for a post-hike refresh. The hotel has 32 rooms, strangely didn't seem big enough, and was apparently Vivien Leigh's favorite place to stay.

We went here to celebrate a friends special birthday and had cream tea for 7 people. The scones were so light and fluffy, large, and had a huge amount of jam with clotted cream supplied. Had a cafetiere of coffee, one was faulty and poured coffee grounds our in the cup, but no hesitation on replacing it quickly. I would highly recommend coming here, such a beautiful location.

We didn't stay but enjoyed a weekday lunch with a cream tea finish. I like returning to The Two Bridges Hotel because one day, when it's raining, I hope to be able to sit on the large Chesterfield sofas because they look super comfy and the feel is so laid-back n relaxed. Otherwise, the food is very good (Ploughman's with Auntie Jame's Pork Pie, and the Pulled Pork in a bun). Service is friendly and quick! Good beer too - Jail Ale! If the weather is good, as it was for us, there is a fair bit of seating outside and a large enclosed lawn area. Altho, signs say you must pay for parking, this, wasn't being enforced when we visited. Lots of parking!

Lovely location. There is not much internet or phone signal, but so what! We had a lovely set meal for 37.50 plus drinks. The staff were helpful. We are thinking now of spending Christmas there next year it was that good. Cheers!

I am an older lady who was visiting to watch the morris dancing this evening .I stood in the foyer for several minutes waiting to make enquiries about food etc . Several members of staff passed by and not one made eye contact , said good evening or offered to get to me as soon as they could . Busy or not decent manners should not be overlooked . Loved the morris , sadly not the Hotel.

Onion rings were perfect. Chips were disappointing - not soft in the middle or crispy on the outside. Beautiful location though.

Date of service 09/05/2024....Reviews seem pretty good, but I,m afraid my experience was totally disgraceful. It was my first visit back to 2 bridges for over 35years as I was taking my daughter to the area I was raised to show her my part of the world. Proper clotted cream tea with fresh scones and local farm strawberry jam was of course on the menu. Well these words dont describe my disappointment, 2 bridges are quite expensive at 8quid per cream tea but two cream teas were ordered. What we received for 16quid was 2 scones hot on the outside still semi frozen on the inside, 1 small pot of cream and 1 small pot of jam for 2 people, worst was the egg smelling cups of tea and coffee that was undrinkable. We returned the scones to be replaced with unfrozen scones, luckily they seemed to forget about us as we waited and waited, this gave me the reason to get cross so my daughter requested a refund from a very apologetic friendly young man at the bar and we left never ever to return again. We got our amazing Clotted Cream tea in Princetown just up the road which consisted of fresh tea in clean cups. 2 delicious scones "each" and a pot of cream and pot of jam "each", not the crumbly clotted cream I remenber from years gone by but was yummy.

Absolutely loved our stay. The food and service was absolutely excellent from start to finish. My only pickup points would be that the housekeeping team need to work to a bit of a higher standard. The bathroom did have a couple of hairs on the tiles, and the bath did have a slight scum film on it. The rooms are quite "classic" in design (which I liked), but some of the furnishings probably do need to be reupholstered at this point as some of them are really worn and stained. The bedding could also do with a refresh as the duvet was lumpy and not particularly comfortable. The dinner was amazing, easily the best cured salmon I've ever had. The bar area was absolutely beautiful and very cosy after a soggy Dartmoor walk, the fires could do with a bit more attention though! Thanks for the stay and I hope to return some day.

Excellent young staff are trying their best during busy times. But, management needs a shake up. The service was hit and miss. We had booked in advance and ended up almost running our own visit. By the end of which, there was another qué of drinks orders at the bar. So, I asked at reception if the lady wouldn't mind coming to the bar, to let us pay for our meal on the empty second till. But, this was too much for her to comprehend. She just continued to sit there watching all the staff struggling to keep up. This carried on until other customers sat down on booked tables. The receptionist would then jump up and tell them to move without an offer of somewhere else to go to ("do you have anywhere else we can sit?.... "I don't know") As the only place around they have the market cornerd, but that doesn't mean you can let up on standards. It needs addressing because it is a lovely looking hotel in a lovely area.

HonkyTonk Wine Library is a unique establishment that offers a diverse range of wines from different countries. It is not just a shop, but also a wine lounge where customers can both taste and purchase their favorite wines. The menu includes delectable deli foods, particularly fresh seafood dishes, along with popular tasting boards. Additionally, the extensive collection of drinks available consists of various options such as rum and beers.
Spent a rather enjoyable 4 hours lunch catching up with a friend over excellent wine and a fantastic deli platter. The baked camembert was out of this world. Fitz, the owner, was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff were attentive but not too in our faces. We were seated outside on a sunny day, overlooking the harbour, and time just flew. Being from Manchester, I found this to be exceptional value for money, at least 1/3 cheaper than I'm used to. Already booked in again to try the seafood platter in a couple of weeks time. If you're reading this Fitz, open your second in Westhoughton!

I heard about HT from many people who recommended us to visit it. Therefore it was our first time in HT and we absolutely loved this nice place. The atmosphere there and interior design is very unique and memorable. We had a selection of a few starters to share and a meat sharing board. And that was plenty of food for a family of 4 to eat. The stunning food and beverage presentation really impressed us! All members of staff were friendly, smiley and attentive 😉👌🏼 I would definitely book a table for our next occasion😊

We were a family party of 5 , 3 of which had been to Honky Honk previously . First impression of when you walked in is the lovely atmosphere, followed by the warm greeting of the owner Zoe . We shared the meat platter for 4 and added a little extra off the menu .The food was amazing, such a wide selection on the platter and the service was fantastic. A real warm comfortable chilled vibe enabled us to have a fantastic evening and we are already looking to book again .

Excellent food and a superb selection of wine to choose from, Sunday lunch of slow cooked beef was excellent and very reasonable price. Accompanied by an professional jazz band, making a great atmosphere. Owners and staff are so welcoming and clearly enjoying serving their customers. Busy, fun and very enjoyable.

Family run with years of knowledge, these guys have the wine bar vibe nailed down. Highly recommend HonkyTonk if you’re searching for a plate and a glass of something wonderful. With a constantly transforming menu, and themes ranging from Jazz to Jamaican Independence - this library is anything but boring. NB: get the salmon and eggs for breakfast; it’s delicious.

Visited HonkyTonk for the first time on Sunday and we had the best experience we could’ve asked for! We’ve heard good things and have wanted to visit for a long time so we’re so happy the restaurant lived up to our expectations! The food was amazing and we all couldn’t stop talking about it all evening! Service was 10/10, really helpful and attentive. The wine selection was incredible also. We will definitely be back! Already talking about booking a again for another couple of weekends time 😍 Picture shows a veggie sharing platter for 2 and a normal platter for 4. There were 6 of us altogether and we couldn’t finish everything so there is more than enough to go around!

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, staff very welcoming and gave us some great recommendations on food and wine. Had a comfy sofa, perfect to sit back and chill out, whilst enjoying fantastic food and wine. Would love to come back in the summer!

I love this place! It's cosy and chic with wonderful, knowledgeable staff. They're happy to help wine enthusiast with zero actual understanding of wine (like me) and will give you great recommendations based on your tastes. Yummy veggie sharing platter plus a side of chicken wings (I know!) had last time I was there, and some delicious limoncello-spritzs the time before. They also have a little stash of board games, can't beat a bar with a board game!

Food was excellent can't fault the food!! , atmosphere was excellent 10/10. Staff was very polite but the actual service seemed quite poor! When you wanted another drink you literally had to wave for attention to get noticed! And a lack of deserts for a Saturday night and given dirty cutlery other wise would of been a 5* . We will be back but hopefully on my next visit I can change the review to a 5*

The HonkyTonk Wine Library exceeded our expectations, well, we knew it was going to be great but they managed to take it to another level. It was the perfect venue for fine wine and dining before we headed to the theatre. The staff were amazingly enthusiastic and knowledgeable and helped us choose the best selection of wines to complement the awesome food. As soon as I saw the chicken and chips on the menu, I knew I had to try it and it was definitely worth the wait - Thank you, we will be back!

My second visit to the Honky Tonk this time around it was for the dinner sharing board. The place was very quiet but it was a Tuesday evening, we didn't mind as the venue is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy good food and wine. The sharing board was lovely, beef wellington, ribs and ham all superstars on the plate. I'd highly recommend going for something a little different. It's also worth mentioning the breakfast sharing board. This was my first experience and I was blown away at how good breakfast could be.

This is my 3rd visit to Honky Tonk, and I can honestly say, locally, it's the best place. From the wine, to the food and ambience, it is truly lovely - looking out at the sea and boats of course adds to the charm! The cherry on top? The unhurried manner in which we could take it all in, savour the wine and enjoy our grazing board - absolutely priceless. I will be back with my Hublet at the end of June for his birthday! The owners are engaging and knows what it means to make their patrons feel welcome and goes above and beyond to ensure you have the best time ever. Thanks for a wonderful few hours - our girlie catch up was a triumph!

Had a lovely evening celebrating our wedding at the HonkyTonk Wine Library on 30th March. The service was fantastic and the wine/food/atmosphere was lovely. Thank you for a wonderful evening! We wouldn't hesitate to go back again!

Lovely location, amazing wine selection and a sharing menu to match. We only had a quick glass of wine but it was divine. I plan on returning regularly. Not sure how to leave another review so updating this one. Now been here several times and every time a great experience slowly becoming a regular joint. Booked in for the ‘Roast and Jazz’ in Feb, food was amazing, atmosphere was a great vibe and the live Jazz topped it off! The staff are friendly and the owners know their wines, great conversations and recommendations.

This was our first visit and won’t be our last. In fact we’ve already booked again in February. The staff, especially our waitress, were so kind and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious the photos don’t lie. The wine tasted amazing too. We had 2 bottles of the Malbec. And we thoroughly enjoyed the Jazz session. Perfect way to spend a wet/windy Sunday afternoon. Can’t wait for some sunshine to sit in the outside area and soak up the view.
