Seafood restaurant
Il Sottomarino is a stylish establishment that offers beautifully presented seafood dishes in a modern setting, complete with a charming garden and terrace overlooking the sea. The restaurant's reputation for excellence is well-deserved, as it consistently delivers exceptional quality and value for money. Despite the misleading information about prices on their Google profile, the skilled chef and dedicated team deserve praise for their efforts. It comes as no surprise that reservations must be made well in advance to secure a table at this sought-after venue.
As I starter I ordered the codfish croquetes and they were truly delicious. As a main dish, the ravioli and it was also very nice! Totally recommended! I will come back!

First things first. Book! Especially in high season. Waiting outside in the heat, hoping for a table that may never materialise, it's just not worth it. As for the restaurant per se, there's a reasonable selection of sea food dishes on the menu at an affordable price. The whole, accompanied by a nice wine selection where there were some interesting bottles from Francia Corta (try them out). Of the dishes we ordered, all were extremely well prepared, but some of them had a few quirks and lapses that are unacceptable at a Michelin mentioned restaurant. A case in hand, the "polpo spadellato" which, in our case, had acquired a strong smoked/burnt aroma that spoilt the experience. Others, like the "ravioli alla razza", came with a sauce that, in our opinion, did nothing for the excellent ravioli except smother their taste. Still of the eight dishes we had, most were excellent (the "trancio di morone" for example), well presented and well cooked. The desserts are very good and I suggest you share them at the table so everyone can try different things. The waiters were professional and courteous, sometimes distracted by perhaps having too many tables given the number of personnel available. Prices are in the norm for a sea food restaurant, especially if you consider the quality of the service and the 'ambiance'.

Unmatched table in Tuscany by the sea. Exceptional in every aspect and real value for money. The $$$ in Google profile are deceptive. Bravo to the chef and the team. It is not by accident that you have to book well in advance. The spirit of offering value to the customer goes further from the menu to the wine list. The service is top. The only cons are the lack of rythm between the different plates, however not really disturbing, and the really great difficulty to find a parking place. After half an hour of search, we finaly found a place where we got a ticket.

Position: Seafood restaurant in a prime location facing the sea. We were seated in the garden area as opposed to the front terrace surrounded by the intense scent of jasmine. Ambience: Low noise levels and sense of intimacy with tables well spaced. Covid-19 rules fully respected. Subtle lighting on the tables (Flos) so no glare. Very pleasant! Service: Excellent service. A special mention to Anna, a delightfully helpful and friendly waitress who attended to all our needs. Food: Food was well presented although portions were contained. Maybe the mixed seafood dish could have been hotter (piping is always preferred). "Cannoli" for dessert were delicious (chef is Sicilian so he knows his profession!). Fresh pineapple chunks could have been served in a more eye-pleasing way and perhaps some experimentation from the chef would have created a more exciting dessert. Extra virgin olive oil from Massa Marittima (Morisfarms) was very much appreciated with the accompanying bread. Wine: White Vermentino also from Massa Marittima (same estate) was ordered and given full marks for its fruity and light flavour. Supporting the local economy deserves top marks! Pricing: The bill for two came to 90 euro. Thank you for the very pleasant evening! Booking in advance is necessary!

Very tasty food and desserts and quality service.

I was kept waiting for a long time outside in the cold because I hadn’t booked. Too long to simply set a table for just one person. Too long to be able to order. The meal was just about tasty and partially made it up for the previous discomfort

Ristorante La Baracca, an Italian eatery, is extremely popular during the busy summer high season. Their fish menu is exquisite and delicious. If you make a reservation well in advance, you can enjoy your meal outside on the beach with sand beneath your feet. The staff members are exceptionally polite and efficient. It is considered one of the finest establishments in the area.
Can imagine this place being really busy during the summer high season. Really nice fish menu that tasted really good. If booked early enough in advance it is possible to eat outside on the beach with sand between your toes. The staff were very polite and efficient.

One of, maybe, the best in the area. Wonderful in October, after the bagno has closed, sitting on the sand with the late autumn sun reminding you of summer…

The two stars is given for the location and view. We had high expectations due to the many reviews, but it was not a good experience food wise. The owner had a really bad attitude and said they were fully booked even though we were there as soon as they opened. After some conversation he let us in. A really bad start, and it was clear to see he has some sort of problem with foreigners. Ravioli was not very tasty, it tasted old the stuffing, and the food in general was very fried and greasy. Tuna was good in taste but the vegetables was buttered and fried with too much salt, so it was almost not edible. Would only recommend for the location, not worth it food vs price...

Willing to eat a dinner at 7:30 PM. All tables were available but the owner said it is full seeing baby in the trolley. Do not recommend, especially families!

Restaurant
Da Santarino is a seafood restaurant located in the heart of Follonica. The food here is excellent, with a range of delicious starters to choose from, such as Crostini e salumi misti. The main dishes are decent, although not outstanding, and the Tortellini burro e salvia could possibly be frozen. However, the highlight of the meal is definitely the incredible crema catalana for dessert. The staff are friendly and provide efficient service.
If you are looking for a place to eat a fish and sea fruits in Follonica, this is the right place. Santarino is an old and traditional restaurant with a very good service, amazing food and reasonable prices. Do not miss it!

Dinner here was pretty good. My starter of choice, Crostini e salumi misti, was of excellent quality and absolutely delicious. My main dish of choice, Tortellini burro e salvia, was okay but nothing incredible - I have definitely experienced better elsewhere in Tuscany. Frozen maybe? Desert, crema catalana, was incredible! Staff was nice and service was relatively fast. Price was great. Location is not the best, whilst it’s definitely located in the center of Follonica, it is located in a little street with not the best looks. Inside, the restaurant is actually very small, despite being relatively nice-looking. Despite this, outside it’s preferable to dine.

Delicious food, helpful waiters. Tables are well separated by the benches, which helps also to contain noise somewhat.

We stumbled upon Ristorante Pizzeria la Lanterna di Riccardo Ardiccioni spontaneously and were promptly seated without a reservation. The service was pleasant, efficient, and courteous. The pizzas, cooked in a traditional wooden oven, were delectable, as was the fish. The prices were average. We would definitely recommend this establishment for its delicious food and charming local ambiance. Additionally, they offer gluten-free options including pizza.
We found the restaurant by chance while passing by. It was very good, we were very happy with the food. The service was fast. Tiramisù was excellent, also the Caborana too. Highly recommended!

Pizza was not good! The dough was sweet 😳, spaghetti with clams were pretty good and pasta was also dente! And this was good. It was a busy restaurant with no air conditioning 😫

Very good food and nice local atmosphere! Gluten-free options (including pizza!) are available. We've spent a great evening there and will go back to this place when we're next time in the area.

We waited about 45 minutes for the table, it's not because there are no tables, it's because the waiter refuse to combine two tables together for us. They insisted we need to wait for table of six to finish! We finished our diner at 1am. The seafood pasta was amazing by the way, really enjoyed it. Worth the wait, still low point for their bad management.
