Aso Roadside Station

Mentioned on
Toll road rest stop
Rest stop
Roadside station Aso is a toll road rest stop that offers picturesque views of Mount Aso and a variety of local specialties at its farmers' market, including pickled takana and soft ice cream made with Aso milk. The parking lot is free and provides amenities for sleeping in cars or campers, such as electrical hookups and sinks. Additionally, there is a local farmers market near the JR Aso station that offers fresh products in addition to the famous ice cream and milk.
This is a best place to enjoy Aso’s agricultural products. I have enjoyed lot of delicious food here and the milk is the best!

Wow this was a great shop with the parking. The weather wasn't nice but many people inside and outside. There was a big bathroom beside the shop separately. The EV charging area and cyclists area were too. We saw many camping cars parking there for the rest. There were many fresh veges and fruits outside, local food, drinks, radio eat snacks, crafts, and Kumamon stuff were inside. There was a room with the TV on to eat after buying the bento box, snacks, or drinks, which was a great idea to attract the people to come back. We just love that place!

Bungo-Mori Station

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The train station, Bungo-Mori Station, situated on the way to Hakata station, was established in 1929 as a midpoint along the Kyushu railway. The building underwent a renovation in 2013, with the facade now adorned in a dark brown color that symbolizes the earth and ground.
We were waiting for the train running to Hakata station. This Bungo-mori station opened in 1929 was a half-way in the spot of Kyushu railway. The renewal of the building was built in 2013 and the dark brown color of the facade symbolizes the soil and the ground. All members of the structure in the building were the original the same way as before. In particular, the reinforced iron plates on the wooden member of the roof truss members surprised me because there were the iron cramps and fastening between the king post and beam on them I've ever seen and learned just on textbooks in my school days.

There was a piano with the ETERA logo that you could play freely. Yesterday, I saw the news about Toriyama-sensei's death, so I played the Dragon Quest theme to pay his respects. It was a very easy piano to play. (Translated by Google) Parking nearby was cheap. Of course there is an entrance fee, but you should pay that much. In Yufuin no Mori, it seems that you can sometimes drive on the right side and enter the platform on the side of the station building. I don't know if all of them are like that. There is Bungomori Engine Depot nearby, but you will be satisfied with your stay for about 1 hour, so I honestly do not recommend getting off at this station (unless you are taking the mini railway). Kiyomizu Waterfall is a picturesque destination that stands tall at 246 feet. It can be accessed through two routes, one of which involves climbing steps via a temple while the other leads directly to the waterfall. The area around the waterfall appears secluded and hidden from view with no English signs or tourist information available. The site offers free parking lots and restaurants for visitors' convenience.
Gorgeous waterfall, with a peaceful environment. I came in December and got to see all the red and yellow leaves falling on a beautiful clear day.

Greeny and cool environment.there have two ways to reach to the waterfall.one is through the temple by climbing the stairs which is very hard but surrounding by the nature.other way is very easy to find, lookup the sign boards on your way to the parking.
Kasun G (ガヤ) — Google review
A picturesque walk to the waterfall with lots of greenery and the sound of trickling waters. Nice to be able to walk right up to the waterfall basin and have a photo shoot. If the waterfall basin is larger it would have been perfect. We also visited a mystical Buddhist temple next door - Hochiin 宝地院.
Shirley NKL — Google review
There are 2 ways to go to the waterfalls, 1 is through the temple, which I don’t suggest older people do, we had to climb so many stairs! My asthmatic self was wheezing throughout! But the temple above had a calming serenity because of how untouched and run down it was, and looking at all the Gods placed everywhere even made it breathtaking! 2nd way of accessing it is the one that leads you right where the waterfall lands, easy access! The area around the waterfall looks completely hidden, like it’s a town’s secret! So no tourist info or signs in English.

A great stop on the way to Hiroshima from Kotahara, the 7 bridge wonder starts here! This is considered the starting point, (for us midway of the scenic route) of a major cycling route for people into this kind of thing! Stop for Coffee, or a snack, enjoy the magnificent bridge! Inside the souvenirs shop behind, is a mini museum truly worth looking at! Perfect!

Suehiro Shrine

Sights & Landmarks
Located in Omishima, Iyo, the Suehiro Shrine was established by Yasushika Kurushima, the first lord of the Mori feudal lord, during the Keicho era in 1601. The main shrine is encompassed by an outer shrine known as Sayado. Interestingly enough, it appears that Sayado, Oiya, and Oido are essentially interchangeable terms. This mountainous sanctuary offers a serene ambiance and can be accessed through the Sumiumayama trailhead.
