Museums
The Powell-Cotton Museum is located on a 15th-century estate and features a Victorian natural history collection, as well as a Regency house and gardens. The museum houses cultural artifacts from Africa and Asia, along with a kids' soft play center, activity center, adventure golf, and a farm shop and restaurant within its 250-acre estate. Visitors can enjoy the impressive taxidermy collection of large animals collected during the age of exploration.
Brilliant place for a day out. Inexpensive entry fee and some fascinating exhibits. They have a handling room so the kids could touch things and feel them. They also tried the paper plane making with great success. The grounds are beautiful to explore or enjoy a picnic. Highly recommended !

Old style museum. Got there half hour before closing time with a toddler so didn't see much but what we saw was actually impressive. Better display of animals than Natural History Museum in London. The dramatics of life in savannah is well captured and the vastness of the display is amazing. Plenty of rooms from different journeys including China, Japan and Papua New Guinea. A lot of cultural bits, vases, jewellery and weapons (spears etc.) on display. Fantastic little corner for little adventurers/discovery, as well as for babies. Wish we had more time to spent to explore more.

What a fantastic museum for younger children! They provide backpacks for little ones with binoculars and themed learning aids and a whole room of hands-on exhibits. We were there on a bank holiday with traditional Japanese music in one of the rooms. The cafe opposite is super friendly and excellent value but I recommend popping in to book for lunch or tea when you first arrive as it gets very busy.

Beautiful gardens, museum, lots to see and admire, fabulous collection and very informative, even in 21 century!! Customer service is second to none!! Prices are great and very affordable, even for large families and groups. We take all our Family, Friends and Guests there!! Would highly recommend!!

Such an interesting museum with lovely staff, well informed and approachable. The house and gardens were a bonus with a friendly peacock. The small garden centre was well stocked and reasonable. Good place to visit, highly recommended

Plenty of parking, easy access for those with disabilities. Reasonably priced. Plenty to see, learn and do for all age groups, beautiful garden ( worth taking a picnic in the good weather), polite knowledgeable staff,no pressure to leave, Plenty of interesting artifacts with hands on plus quizzes, games for the children.Well worth the visit.Fabulous venue for celebrations.

Been here many times since I was a child. Very interesting and a huge collection of artefacts and stuffed animals from all over Africa. I feel like they have made the museum smaller? I like the interactive stuff toward the back that you can physically touch and feel. Vegans and animal lovers may not appreciate all the stuffed animals but for better or worse they’re there and can be used and viewed for educational purposes. It’s history.

I have many memories from going here as a little girl and it is still just as amazingly immersive as I remember. I took my disabled (wheelchair user) client to the museum and gardens last weekend and we had a really great time! The exhibits were brilliant, the gardens were beautiful, disabled access was good and the staff were really kind, happy and helpful. A wonderful place to have a day out!

Very impressive museum with a lot of African animals. The rooms with the animals were impressive. We also really liked the beautiful gardens. They old house was nice to see and the staff was very friendly and explained a lot of things about the family and the house.

Really enjoyed a family trip to the museum. A very very impressive taxidermy collection of very large animals...a bit sad but the specimens were collected many moons ago during the age of exploration. Lovely activities for children within the museum with a good handling collection. Children get some accessories to dress up with on arrival should they wish, which was a nice touch. We had a picnic in the formal gardens which were beautiful bin the late summer. We loved the walled garden especially. There was a nice woodland walk also and a nice café on site which we enjoyed a cream tea at in the afternoon. Very tasty. Recommend!

Such an interesting day out, my son was fascinated with all of the exhibits. Very reasonable admission especially as there is lots to see. The gardens are beautiful and fun to explore and the house is stunning. A great day out

I went to this place as a small child and it left me seriously traumatised. I suggest if you or your children are animal lovers you don't visit. I'm not sure how old I was when I went but it must have been 50 odd years ago, and it still fills me horrible nightmarish images to this day if I drive anywhere near the area. Since the displays are still obviously the same I cannot understand how this can be classed as child friendly ....

Fantastic museum! Visited for the first time and was blown away! Plenty to see and the staff were fantastic. Particularly impressed with the aids available for those on the spectrum. The rucksacks etc at each location meant our son got to really enjoy the experience. Thank you ❤️

The Carlton Cinema is a family-operated movie theater that offers a diverse selection of films, including both popular blockbusters and independent movies. With three screens and a tearoom, this cinema provides an outstanding experience for its patrons. The main theater is a large, aesthetically pleasing space with excellent audio and visual quality. The venue's cleanliness and comfortable seating contribute to its charming atmosphere.
Thank you for making me enjoy going to the cinema! What a beautiful experience. Superbly comfortable seats! Gorgeous interior! Lovely staff! Great surround sound without making your heart jump out of your rib cage. And did I ention the price? All really affordable, hence making it possible for a big family to go out and treat themselves. THANK YOU for helping me put a smile on my kids’ faces!

The loveliest cinema I've ever seen! Exceptional, beautiful place - the original Ticket booth is there, ( first opened in 1910). The outside front is all green Glass-glazed tiles, inside you'll have clean, comfortable seats, and the prices are so cheap, I don't get how they'd pay the Bills! I saw 'The Creator' there, and it added so much to the whole Cinematic experience- (a smelly Multi-chain Cinema isn't optimal for artistic appreciation...!)
Jerrard Nally — Google review
What a great place, perfect staff, good popcorn & drinks £7.50 for large popcorn and drink & there was loads for 2 people. Great price £3.50 to watch a film, lots to see, leather chairs were very comfortable, nice & clean & get the feeling you have gone back in time in the building with the pictures ect. If you go buy their sweets, popcorn & drink,it's not expensive its what keeps the cinema prices so cheap.

Lovely little cinema. The tickets are so reasonable! The staff are wonderful super friendly, cheerful and go above and beyond.

Wonderful cinema. Staff are all really friendly and helpful. Have all the latest releases and also a Thursday morning Movie Moments where they show recent films for only £2.50, with a free tea or coffee and a biscuit! Normal price is only £3.50 so always good value anyway. We moved down here 8 years ago and wouldn't go anywhere else now to watch films. Fantastic place.
Penny Gibbons — Google review
A really great cinema for a nostalgic and authentic experience. The staff were very friendly and approachable, a great variety of snacks and great pricing of tickets. My only criticism would be that in the large screen the volume for the film wasn't quiet loud enough
Thomas Chaplin — Google review
Beautiful cinema and so fitting to see a local film there. Prices are so reasonable. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly.
Sharon Rees — Google review
It is best to buy tickets in advance for the smaller cinema section as people were being turned away. Seating well spaced and comfortable. Various drinks and food snacks available. Toilets clean. We went to see sir Michael cane's last film. The great escaper. Brilliant but touchingly sad. By the end everyone in the room had been in tears.
Pete Windsor — Google review
Solo or with our family, we come here often. Staff are always friendly and the ticket prices are brilliant. We always buy something there so prices can stay the same! The bigger screen is traditional. The smaller ones are uncomfortable but will never not go here!!
Miss Horray — Google review
What an outstanding cinema! The main theatre is a huge beautiful room, with great sound & crisp picture. The place is clean, the seats are comfy, such a lovely atmosphere! I had the most amazing cinema experience yesterday and it took me back to my childhood as I used to visit this place as a child, but it's better than ever now, but it keeps it's vintage charm and character. I cannot recommend this cinema enough, not least due to it's fantastic value for money! I'd happily go every day!
djskaface — Google review
A local independent well run cinema. Shows all the new releases at affordable prices. Thursday morning is a 'warm space' and the management also opens up for live events such as the World Cup Final One of Westgate's gems.
Rebekah O'Keeffe — Google review
It's actually the former Westgate on Sea Town Hall. It has 3 screens. 2 are quite small holding maybe 30 so people. The main one in what was obviously the original assembly and function room holds about 250 I think. All of them have very comfortable seats and good sound systems and the Usual goodies are on sale in the foyer. The admission costs are about half what you would pay in a " Vue" etc. The only draw back is parking which might be a problem ,depending on the film and time of day. But I can highly recommend this cinema its as good as the far more expensive big cinemas
Christopher Wood — Google review
The cinema is wheelchair accessible, or at least for the movie we saw, but don't think all theaters they have are. The entrance hall is also very small, so trying to get into the building it can b very crowded, especially with a wheelchair. It also wasn't possible to book online a wheelchair seat and a seat adjacent as they are of a different 'level'.
DJ P — Google review
Fantastic independent cinema. I really recommend a visit here; Cheap entry Mega comfy seats (only £1 extra) Good range of reasonable priced snacks Super friendly staff
Paul Wells — Google review
This is a great cinema plenty of room & brought back a lot of memories, has more soul that the Vue that's for sure... Everyone should support their local cinema while they are still there... Ramsgate had three once now none.. just felt sorry for the staff member, one lady taking tickets & serving customers with their popcorn & treats. The queue of people was long with one lady dealing with everything or so it seemed...

Quex Park, a vast 1,800-acre estate in Birchington, boasts the magnificent Quex House and Gardens. Within this expansive parkland are trees that were planted during the 19th century. One can find respite for a picnic before embarking on an exploration of Quex House and Gardens - once inhabited by the peculiar Powell-Cotton family.
This is a great place to visit and shop. The Secret Garden Centre is lovely, Felicity's does great teas, the farm shop is pricey but brilliant, the grounds are wonderful and the crazy golf is awesome!
David S — Google review
The Powell-Cotton museum and the family mansion next to it were definitely worth the visit! The museum has provision for young children with sensory needs and even provides an opportunity for a hands-on experience, named as "Handling collection". It hosts more than 200 animals and other items from the founder's expeditions in Asia and Africa. The house also hosts interesting exhibits, along with spectacular furniture and tapestries, amongst which an authentic Napoleon's drawing and his hair (!) Our guide, Margaret, was knowledgeable and very friendly, making the visit even more pleasant. We finished our visit at the mini-golf garden, but we'll definitely be back, as there's so much more to do and see. Great family day out, recommended!

Absolutely fantastic day walking the alpacas with my work colleagues then afternoon tea. Theresa was absolutely amazing, friendly, knowledgeable about alpacas and very welcoming along with the young girl she was with ( so sorry name forgotten) I will definitely be returning to Quex Park with my daughters and walking the alpacas again. Mine being Jet 🥰 One negative is the marketing isn’t great as I didn’t know anything about this beautiful place until my work colleague booked it. Definitely needs to be promoted more
Joanne Amundsen — Google review
After sending an email but not receiving a reply, I thought I’d leave a review. The park itself is fine. Cheap enough for the kids to run around for a few hours. Parts are tatty and could do with a freshen up and the dinosaur puppet is kind of pointless but overall, it’s ok. Just take your own food and drinks as this is extortionate on site! My review is mainly based on the animals. Leaving aside the fact that prey animals such as rabbits aren’t my favourite things to see in a children’s play place, but the sear filth that the poor animals are kept in! I also had to tell staff to fill the water up for the rabbits on a very hot day. The goats, pigs and sheep have very basic enclosures with little to no enrichment and covered in their own faeces. It would be nice to see knowledgable staff periodically cleaning enclosures through the day and ensuring there is plenty of water and maintained enclosures. The rabbit enclosure was littered with old food with new food placed on top and no fresh veg! The enclosures for the rabbits were disgusting!

We enjoyed The Bouncing Bunnies Easter trail. Had lunch in the main restaurant. A nice couple of hours. Quex always has events on, but it is still worth a visit for a cuppa/ walk.
Ciarán Doyle — Google review
Although local to me had never visited before and what a delight! You do need to take into account the way the animals arrived at Quex which seems abhorrent now but was what was commonplace at the time. The Dioramas are well designed and constructed to show the natural habitat and the massive quantity of other exhibits make for a good museum. At the end there is a large room where adults and children alike can see and touch exhibits and learn more. Included in the low ticket price of £3.50 (less for children and concessions) was a guided tour of the house, an added bonus. Our guide was Dayze and they were knowledgeable and approachable. Photos were allowed. I would highly recommend this place

Really quirky place. I quite enjoyed it. The garden centre is lovely and the museum is very interesting with an excellent kids' room. My daughter enjoyed the soft play, and we had a lovely sausage roll in the cafe.
Simon Price — Google review
Grand daughter had a belated birthday party here ( Bounce Party ) . So much fun for the children and grandparents unbelievable for the price of the afternoons entertainment and a meal plus drinks . Excellently supervised staff went above and other throughout the afternoon nothing is too much trouble . Adults high light was the tractor ride with a twist , water 💦 guns were handed out to shoot the naughty chicken . Not this group water guns were in each other oh what a fabulous time we all head and soaked in the process . Us oldies took to the maze and beyond we found the Pirate Buccaneers adventure and a soggy Chicken getting changed . Hot food for the children plus apple juice or water . Highly recommend The Bounce party down on the farm .
Jeanette Payne — Google review
Whilst one of the playgrounds happily advertises a Maze, once you pay to go in, you then discover there is no Maze whatsoever, and it's "only there during the summer", as I was told by one of the staff when I asked. It not being there is ok, but don't falsely advertise it when you know full well it's not there. And adjust the prices too. The Maze was the only reason we paid to go into that particular playground, so I had a super unhappy 7 year old on my hands when he found out there was in fact no Maze. Not good Quex Park, not good at all.

What a lovely place! We did the Alpaca Trek followed by the Mini Golf.Teresa and Sophia were fantastic on the Trek. Teresa was very friendly, she did a great safety briefing beforehand and told us lots of facts about Quex on the way round. Holiday park
The Birchington Vale Holiday Park is located in the picturesque Kent countryside, but is conveniently close to Margate and Broadstairs. Covering 100 acres of land, it offers a variety of accommodations suitable for different budgets. The park boasts an impressive pool with a large slide, which caters to both children and adults due to its 1m depth. Even in April, the pool remains bright and inviting.
Fantastic! We stayed in a camping pod. It was clean with a nice big play patch of grass and paths for the kids to ride their bikes. Nice big bar area overlooking the kids park with zipline, swings and slides. Swimming pool was clean, good size and a really good slide. All the staff I spoke to were really friendly and helpful. We arrived early and they let us check in 3 hours early. All for a really good price, even during the Easter weekend. No complaints, I will certainly go back.
Dean Goldhill — Google review
We stayed at this holiday park as a family last week. We are not happy with our experience. Camping pod was ok. Shower block was dirty. It said on a sign that it's supposed to be cleaned twice a day but it wasn't. The two days before we arrived, it had been cleaned only once a day (could see the sheet on the wall signed by employees). I had to complain several times about the state of the showers. Dirty water and hair everywhere. How is it useful to clean a shower block used by 20 4-people pods at 1am and then at 8am and then not at all all day?! On the day we arrived, we tried to reserve a swimming session for the day after but they didn't have the reservation sheet. When we went the next morning, it was already fully booked. We went the following day: lifeguards seemed bored to death, no smile, no interaction, ignored a man-child repeatedly bombing into the pool full of kids. The day after, the pool was closed because the two only lifeguards were off sick. Won't book there again.
Myriam Joly — Google review
Really great pool with big slide. 1m depth so perfect for kids as well as adult swimmers. Nice and bright even in April. Pool, and changing rooms clean and tidy as were all other areas of the site. Life guards were friendly and watching out for the kids. Highly recommend. We will be back.

Absouletly fantastic service made a bad situation, pre meltdown happy. C thank you very much would highly recommend. Am already planning a revist as we leave. (Many things to do off site within 20mins, Nelson Park stables, Elev8 and Quez Park were our favourites)

I can recommend this holiday park very much. We were there as couple with his elderly mother. The park was quite, clean and the facilities kept in order and the staff throughout the park very friendly and they were checking on us after the check-in if everything was alright in the caravan. The caravan was modern and it seemed a newer model. The matrasses were a bit soft but some may like it like this. The restaurant was fantastic, spacious , clean and the prices for the meals affordable. If it is sunny one can dinner outside and enjoy the view on the green area. We were once in the pool which seems smaller then on the photo and it is fast crowded and proper swimming impossible. It is well guarded by friendly staff members and the area kept clean. Just as improvement idea maybe an "adult only" session would be appreciated for couples/adults. The parking is easy just next to the Caravan and the heating worked perfectly as the hot water too. It is really a good place to relax and wind down. The shop could have more food as pizzas to choose from. It is only a small shop and I would recommend to visitors to come along with the food already or eating in the restaurant. The park allows dogs and the dog owners we have seen were responsible and had them on the lead all times. Very friendly caravan owners in the park.

Wow what can I say about this place my daughter absolutely loves it here the entertainment team go above and beyond. They make her so welcome and go out of their way to make her happy especially with all the characters Loopy, Penny, Cyril and Scurry. I wish I could put some pictures on here her smile says everything. My daughter has a learning disability and she literally comes alive when here. They really make her feel special.

Amazing place with everything you need around. Very friendly team and people living there. The best part of it, you are near everything. Beaches, pubs, restaurants, bars. LOVE this place
Haden Jonah Rowling-Sami — Google review
Beware if thinking of buying a new static home from here. I just visited a friend who asked me if she should have a room thermostat (this is refer ed to as a boiler interlock in the building regulations) and has been mandatory since 2004. She also had no inline scale reducer or magnetic system filter and worst of all the commissioning certificate for the boiler had not been filled in so it was probably not installed by a competent person. I told her to contact Gas Safe and arrange an inspection.
William Barrett — Google review
I'm describing this as it was my daughter and grandson that stayed there for 2 nights just as a change from a b & b. Being out of season a lot was shut but they used the swimming pool on Saturday morning and comented how lovely and clean it was, the caravan was clean and comfortable they said, I only went there to pick them up to go to Bingo on Saturday night. She recommends it.

We just love it here. It's such a friendly place and that is done to the staff. It's lovely to see Daniel the entertainment manager is overseeing all the holiday services now. Try Querks nearby for excellent lunches.

In the summer it's a hive of activity and it's nice to be there. The bar area is reminiscent of the centre parcs sports bar and the menu isn't bad, I'd say the food is a little basic but not terrible.
Stuart Clarke — Google review
The first non-grateful surprise is the reception’s opening time, that is extremely deficient. They close at 1PM, a timetable that they don’t specify in their booking website, making it almost impossible for foreigners who come from Dover port to spend the night to rest, as it happened to me. I was totally abandoned to my fate, not leaving any cell number or anything to contact anyone and also any chance to get a refund. I will not evaluate the rooms or anything else because I didn’t have the opportunity to check them out, but for the absence of any hospitality to the customer, showing the incompetence of their service, I leave with a really negative experience. I hope they improve this aspect because it looked like an excellent option to spend a cheap and comfortable night with assured car park, but if the client gets absolutely zero attention, I will still leave extremely disappointed. As a “españolito”, I expected to receive a comparable treatment to the one we give “guiris” when they come to our home country, but it has been less than a fraction of what we give, as I adapt to foreign manners back home to improve our tourist’s experience, when I am the tourist I have to stand the natives’ incomprehension and lack of empathy in a situation where we were left homeless for the night, even receiving swear words from other english customers. In conclusion, I leave with a disappointment triggered by incompetence and arrogance.

Really a lovely discovery. Beautiful sandy beach a very nice stroll along the shore. I must say be careful to visitors, the tide came in super fast we got cut off on one of the stair ways onto the beach, we was not in danger but you can get distracted so beware. We didn't visit the bar or shop we saw as it was late in the afternoon. Would definitely visit again

We had a beautiful day yesterday. The weather was glorious and the beaches were practically empty (although it was whilst the kiddies are at school). Lovely stroll along the promenade and an awesome lunch at The Wave. We stayed until sunset and captured some amazing photos. There was ample free parking along the parade, but if not there is a pay & display car park. The Wave cafe/restaurant is highly recommended. Food was lovely and staff are friendly. There is another bar/restaurant opposite, but we didn't try that one. Also, when the tide is out there is a huge rock pool for the little ones to explore. So check the tide times to be able to do this. However, now for the bad comments. Be prepared for the awful smell of seaweed. The smell can be very, very strong and smells like manure. It can be very off putting. When the tide is out make sure you be careful of the stranded jellyfish left on the beach. The other problem is there could have been more toilets, as there are only a couple of places with portaloo's (which were clean), but some of them were locked, leaving only one at each end of the promenade, apart from in the cafe and bar I presume.

Food sometimes really good sometimes average but I haven’t eaten there for a while! Service can be quite slow and even though the young ones are lovely they don’t always see things that need doing like clearing tables outside before the seagulls are all over the food. It is an amazing setting and it’s lovely in the summer.

Excellent. Great staff team, Coffee and Cakes. Could not have asked for more. We popped in for the first time ever (no I don't know why not in all the other times we've visited the bay!) and were not disappointed. It was a bright sunny morning, although windy and a bit cold. We needed a warm up and refreshments. The ground floor was quite full, we asked just for Coffee and Cake, the staff member at the bar directed us to bar seats or upstairs to the Bay View seating that was all but empty. And yes it was a great view across the bay and more. It didn't take long for the Coffee and Scones, Cream and Jam to arrive. Delivered by a friendly and engaging young man. And it was very good too. We loved the team. We loved the friendly team and atmosphere. And we certainly will make this a stop on future visits for sure. Gotta check out the Food menu. Thank you all.. Bravo.

Cant wait to go back! The staff are lovely, the food was good, the venue is beautiful. Great place to visit any time but when the suns out and you sit on the terrace upstairs you feel like you are on holiday without getting on a plane 😎👍went again last Friday and had the breakfast, all good!😜👍🏻

Incredible food! The photos can't do it justice, but the taste was amazing. Loads of vegan options - the vegan duck is really tasty, as was the bread and dips. The staff were really friendly despite being very busy, and the iced coffees were perfect on a hot day. The position with the sea view was just gorgeous, and the bathrooms were Very clean. The best thing about Birchigton

Good food, great prices and 180 degree of sea and sky view. Wonderful place to view the sunset. Lamb stew too salty. Fish and chips very good. Chicken main dish is good. Lobster bisque starter with seaweed butter and nice bread great. Good service too.

Restaurant
The Powell - Birchington features a bar and restaurant where guests can enjoy drinks and meals. The establishment also offers a shared lounge and garden for relaxation. The hotel's rooms are well-appointed with a desk and flat-screen TV. Free WiFi is available, and there is also a terrace for guests to unwind. The kitchen at The Powell is managed by Head Chef Callum Cory, who utilizes the finest local and seasonal ingredients in his dishes.
Restaurant: Good food and wine at reasonable prices. We had four separate dishes...fajitas, chicken, fish n chips, and linguine. All very good. The chef was happy to change the chicken to include a portions of chips and peas instead of the suggested risotto. Non alcoholic beer available; staff happy to allow one of us to bring non alcoholic wine. Staff very attentive. Will return!

Wanted a quiet and relaxed meal with friends so we could catch up. The Powell Restaurant was a great choice. The decor is clean and well maintained. In fact it looked brand new. Even the bar stools had a touch of class to them. The bar had enough options for any drinker including presenting certain wines I presume as a local produce. Service was excellent. Polite but not obtrusive. Food was delicious and fairly priced. The fish curry had a beautiful flavour and not too spicy. All in all we had a great time and would highly recommend.

Really beautiful room, nicely decorated and very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful and it was a great price. Only couple of downsides were no onsite parking, however there is a pay and display very close where 24 hour parking was about £5 and also a residential road where we parked for free. There is also no breakfast in the pub. We were recommended the cafe across the road so there is an option for food if wanted. Would 100% stay again.

Popped my head in the door, asked if that was correct not accepting cash? They then confirmed so off we went, 6 of us to have a meal and drinks up the road, spent £160, that’s money this pub didn’t see! Oh well, they made their choice!

We had to book a venue for my mother's wake at short notice. The Powell gave us an excellent price per head for a finger buffet. More people turned up than expected, but there was plenty for everyone. The dining area was set aside for us to give us some privacy. The staff were excellent and couldn't have given us better service.

We were in the area for a little break away, we chose to have our food here on the Thursday night (May 5th) and the girl serving was great, very welcoming, talkative and very happy to help. We had a query about what we noticed was a local food - fried pickle - the chef came out to us to ask us about it, didn’t have any pickles but treated us to some fried pickled onions which were lovely! Would certainly suggest people to come here.

Great pub! We were a couple of Aussies in town for a few days, went there on our first day and it brought us back every day after that. The locals said it had recently re-opened. We could not recommend them highly enough. Great vibe, the service was impeccable - friendly and attentive - and the food was fantastic, using all locally sourced ingredients. If you're in Birchington or surrounds, go!

Only went to the bar, have eaten there previously, nice food but small portions. The front garden used to have bushes around so it felt more private and there was always music playing. Sadly now the bushes have gone, although replaced with pretty plants and no music it feels like your sitting in the street with all the traffic

I would encourage all musicians who book here to organise their payment method before performing as I was waiting over a week for payment and was lied to on more than one occasion!!! Had to chase the owner across different businesses in Kent to finally receive payment.

Lovely pub, friendly staff. Price of the wines exorbitant £12.20 for a large Rosa £9.90 for a large pino . £52.00 for 4 crayfish tail cocktails.which mostly seafood sauce. These are London prices. For a Saturday night only 2 tables in use.Want be going there again.

Not really sure how this place has high rating… First time in and we was left just stood there in the middle of entrance. One table full in the whole place and no staff. One staff sitting down on a laptop and said someone would be out. Waited 5 mins and still no one so we head to bar to get drink and no one there. Few mins later we was finally seated and served. By a nice lady. We ordered the shared for £55 and the presentation was lovely however the food was not great. The pigs in blankets were awful tasted like dirt/muddy taste I actually spat it out into a tissue. The ribs was microwaved with sauce on top and the chips were flavourless and not nice. Over all for £70 bill was very disappointed and both will not be returning. We was not asked if we wanted another drink or to look at the desert menu. Lucky we just wanted to leave.

Been here a fair few times and I was blown away each time. But tonight's dinner was awful, never like leaving bad reviews but consistency is key that's why we came back, have been put off coming here again. Starters, we're nothing compared to the same starter I had before. Specially for £9. The main was very very standard, mash was bit lumpy, grissile in the sausage & gravey was like water with minimal onion( baring in mind it's onion gravy). Everything just lacked in flavour. The only reason we ate was because we was starving. Was very disappointed.

What a shame you have gone to card payment only. I was really looking forward to coming back to eat here, as we had a lovely meal last time. Unfortunately due to not agreeing with card payment only venues. I rate you 1 star. We spent £150 on our last visit, your loss as we would of been regular visitors.

If you're looking for a venue for a party then book the Powell! From the outset its been easy and stress free. Complete flexibility with food options and the food was the best we have had for a party locally. The venue is a cosy country pub feel and the rooms are comfy yet luxurious. Thank you Sophie and team for your help. 5 stars for all, only given 4 stars for location as no onsite carpark so guests have to pay to parking or park and walk from residential roads but this isnt a big deal.

We've been to the Powell on a few occasions this year, while we have been planning our wedding at Chapel House Estate. Every time we've been there we have felt so welcomed that it feels like we're locals, even though we live 100 miles away! We booked out all 6 rooms at the Powell for our wedding guests, who all could not speak highly enough of the comfort and service provided during their stay. One of our family members who is just over 6'7 even said the beds were big enough or him! Which was a joy and surprise for him! We've eaten at the Powell as well on a few occasions and the food is always exceptional! Byron, the owner and Head Chef never makes a bad choice when it comes to food! And we can't wait to visit one of his other pubs and restaurants in the future. We also decided that it would be the perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner the night before, and the team at the Powell couldn't have been more accommodating to us, allowing us to take up their restaurant space for the evening! 30 of our close family and friends all in one place, getting ready to celebrate our marriage together was just wonderful. My only downside to The Powell is that it is so far away!! We both wish that we could be true regulars to this fantastic place!!

Situated by the sandy shores of Minnis Bay, this chic eatery and lounge capitalizes on breathtaking sunsets and scenic ocean vistas through its outdoor terrace, grassy areas, and a... Read full review. The cuisine overall is commendable but can vary in quality. I have visited a couple of times, where the margarita prawns were delectable initially but lackluster on my second visit.
Birthday treat and I wasn't disappointed. First visit and although small had a nice atmosphere. Tomahawk steak was superb, service was great and the wine, which is recommended on the menu was a great choice. It is quite expensive, if you go for the large cuts of meat but we'll worth a visit. The diners next to us had the burgers and they looked lovely as well. Will definitely go back to try a burger.

Excellent Sunday lunches at The Cow Shed Bar & Grill. Really generous portions, including the children's potion (seemed like the same amount of food on a smaller plate). The only issue is that the last two times we've been, it's taken over an hour from the booking time to receiving the food. There is also only a toilet for one person. BUT the food is fabulous, and well worth a visit. Faster service this time. I think they probably make the Yorkshire puddings on demand! They were great.

Great food - massive portions! I liked the decoration of the place, despite it being small in size it didn’t feel cramped. We had the classic burger and the chicken stack - both lovely and worth the price However, for a practically empty restaurant on a Tuesday eve, service was slow. We waited over 10 mins for our drink orders to be taken. The server wasn’t very welcoming or chatty with us which was unfortunate.

Food is on the whole great but can be quite variable. We've been a couple of times and the margarita prawns were fabulous the first time and rather bland the second. The sides like creamed spinach and cauliflower cheese are nice but very liquid. Both time's we had to ask for a spoon for them and on the second occasion the waitress brought a teaspoon, presumably to make sure we really savoured it. All that said the meat and whole fish are great. Burger looks really home made and tasty. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. Food is reasonable value in the current market.
Gemunu Peries — Google review
Overall it was decent enough. Priced as a group the bill was reasonable but some of the individual dishes seemed overpriced. And in the context of what was likely to be a decent-sized bill given there was four of us, charging me £1 to switch my fries for what turned out to be a pretty miserly portion of winter veg felt pedantic and ever so slightly tight. Starters weren't great, mains were delicious and the desserts were nice (although two of us had the cheesecake of the day which was apparently lemon but tasted a bit like the cheesecake of yesterday, or maybe the day before). If a group of friends wanted to go as a pack I'd have no objection but as a couple, I'm not sure we'd go back. No massive complaints per say, maybe just not our thing.

Went in for the lunch meal deal. It was ok nothing to write home about. Service was OK to be honest and a little slow not very attentive despite it being almost empty on a weekday. Sadly they add 10% service charge on themselves like it's London... It's birchington... This should be clear before you sit down. That said I won't be coming back again. Each to their own.

Lovely food well done chef. Unfortunately front of house fell short. Inexperienced or short on staff maybe. Drinks took forever; & 50% of our party had trouble on motorway so 25 minutes delayed. We were constantly told we had to rush as table booked out so much so; the under pressure waiter simply said would you like your sweets boxed to take home or taken off the bill. We were speechless. That's just the half of it on mother's day. Sorry but you fell very short on expectations. Table beside us also wasn't happy & demanded service charge removed also. 🙄 Not 1 for our shortlist.

To start the pigs in blankets and pork crackling was very tasty! I enjoyed the margarita prawns as a starter too, although the bread type accompaniment was a bit greasy. The fillet steak was very tasty. A good place for steak and cocktails!

Really disappointed. Made a booking for Mothers Day Lunch, I enquired at 3 restaurants as my 4 month old was coming and I wanted to make sure there was space for a pushchair as he can't sit in a high chair yet. Was told they absolutely could accommodate so went with Cow Shed. We got stuck in traffic on the way and alerted the restaurant 30 mins before we were due at our table. When we arrived the table we were seated at had no space for a pushchair, I alerted the staff and we were eventually moved but now with the delay of traffic and the extra delay of moving tables we were then being told we needed to hurry up as the table was only for 1hr 40mins and with the 25 mins traffic and about 15 mins table move we now only had an hour. The starters came quickly and were ok, very big portions which isn't necessarily a bad thing but no one finished theirs. Meanwhile drinks orders were taking 30 minutes for basic drinks orders, they forgot our drinks order twice during the meal. The main was delicious for 5/6 people, 1 got unlucky with the Lamb roast as it was a joint of fat pretty much, they did remove from bill when requested. As we were finishing up our mains the waiter come over, I assumed to ask him if he could bring our pre ordered deserts out due to the time constraints on the table, but he was in fact telling us we couldn't have them and needed to pay and leave as the next table were due. Honestly couldn't believe it. His offer was remove from bill or take away, the majority had ordered desert with ice cream so not really a take away desert.... There are max 8-10 tables here but you'd think you were in a 100+ cover restaurant how long everything took. Both tables either side of us asked for service charge to be removed, our bill didn't even come with it on, I'm guessing due to the fact they were kicking us out before our pre ordered meal was finished. I understand we were late but there was plenty of time to eat 3 courses if the table they had sat us at originally was pushchair friendly and the service had been better. Also note only 1 toilet cubicle. Overall food was good but absolutely wouldn't recommend on what is likely to be a "busy" day. Won't be returning.

5 stars based on the fact the owner clearly values customers and takes pride in his business! First order came and there were issues but upon phoning the shop, the owner immediately apologised sincerely and bought out a whole new order very quickly and it was lovely, the wrap was packed out completely! So thank you for the excellent customer service!

Oh my goodness, your team ACED my brother’s beautiful wedding meal/evening bank holiday Saturday!!! AMAZING food, fab staff, perfect atmosphere and you even nailed the sunset for them! Thank you all so much for your efforts, they had the most special day - it was all perfect! Special shout out to Lauren who read the room and interacted impeccably! Kelly was discreetly in full calm control and nothing at all was too much trouble for anyone - every want and need was met, all with a super relaxed atmosphere. Honestly, every person from our party was overwhelmed with the meal and service, so even guests who’d travelled for the occasion will be heading back to Finbars now! Thank you, thank you, thank you - can’t recommend you guys enough! xxx

We went to Finbars when it first opened and felt it fell short of its promise, especially the service. Now, a couple of years later it’s a different story. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The menu was appealing and the food and drink were served promptly, the quality was good and the portions generous and the bill was less than expected considering what we ordered. The sunset thanks to the restaurant’s position, was spectacular.

Stop off for a quick beverage, nice setting over looking the sea. Cater for Vegans which is great. Prices are a little expensive but you pay for what you get. The only downside was it was so noisy we couldn't hear each other talking. Pet friendly which is great when you want a rest between walkies. I would recommend this place.

We went to Finbar's last week with friends who were deaf. When ordering the meal the lovely waiter Joshua was amazing. He noticed their difficulty and was so charming, friendly and inclusive. He was able to do sign language and made sure that when he came to our table, he spoke and signed so that we could all understand. The food was excellent, with the best scotch egg starter I have ever had. Would definitely recommend, and want to go back soon.

Lovely little restaurant overlooking the bay. We visited on a Friday evening - only outside seating was available when I booked, which was fine and even though it started raining, fortunately we were seated at a table for two along the front, which has a canopy over it, so we were dry and got a great view. Delightful service, and delicious food. A good range of drinks including for non-alcohol drinkers.

Wow, fresh & delicious food, fab service, and a stunning view. You couldn't really ask for more! I recently ate lunch here with colleagues and ordered the Club sandwich, which looked fantastic, and you can see by the picture it looks very fresh and of a generous portion size! The fries were so tasty I would maybe say the best I've had. My colleague ordered the salt beef sandwich and commented on how good that was, too. I was lucky enough for the sun to be shining, although foggy, but the view was absolutely stunning. I definitely want to have dinner whilst the sun sets. It's the perfect location to be honest and would be suitable for date nights, catch ups, special occasions, sunday family lunch, holiday dinners - it really suits all. The team were super friendly and attentive, too. I need to plan my next visit!
Charlotte Wall — Google review
The view is fantastic and sitting outside on the terrace on a nice evening is stunning. Next time though I would watch the sunset on the beach and then go somewhere else for dinner. First, the positive. Our server was fantastic - very friendly, professional and helpful. She was attentive throughout the meal and very quickly corrected a small mistake on our bill at the end. There are a few more negatives unfortunately. I had the burger and it was incredibly greasy. It was OK initially but left a nasty taste in my mouth and feeling in my stomach all evening and night, I could even still taste it this morning. The bun was also cold - not room temperature cold, refrigerated cold - which made me feel it had just been taken straight from the fridge or defrosted and put on my plate. To contrast this, my partner did say the pan fried cod was quite nice. The desserts were very nice too, perhaps a bit too sweet towards the end but not extreme. As I said above, service from our waitress individually was excellent but the restaurant overall was very slow. This was despite having what appeared to be one staff member to every 2-4 customers - behind the bar inside was absolutely packed. A good proportion of these staff looked like they were aged 12-16 as well. To illustrate the pace of service, my partner and I each had one drink, one main and one dessert - we were there for 2 hours and 15 mins. As a specific example, when we requested the dessert menu it took about 15 mins for it to come and then a further 15-20 mins for someone to come back for our order. I've been to places that are much worse but this is definitely on the slow end.
Niall McDaid — Google review
Really lovely restaurant, food was absolutely perfect. There's not many places around here I've been that will serve a steak cooked blue, and it's a really good indicator of how good a place is in terms of hygiene, freshness, and skill if they do. The steak was gorgeous (bavette is my favourite cut) portions were just right. Poached pear was really elegantly spiced - not heavy handed with it as many places tend towards - and refreshing. Overall the seasoning for every dish we had showed a great degree of skill and care; nothing was bland, nothing was unbalanced or over-salted, and honestly I didn't expect it to be so good for the price. It's about middling on cost, I'd say, but the quality is absolutely top. The service staff were all absolutely lovely too, very patient when we took our time figuring out what we want (we forgot to ask for a corner or side table and find being surrounded a little overwhelming so took a bit to settle ourselves - such is life when you're ND). Menu is clear and uncluttered, and vegetarian options and gluten free options are clearly marked, tho I didn't focus on what they were once I saw they had my favourite cut of steak. We took a short flight of stairs from the grass at the top and then a ramp to get in, but I think there is a long long ramp led route along the bay we might have been able to take - all I can definitely say is that the place is AMBULANT disabled accessible, with space in the toilet to prop your stick, though it didn't have an explicitly accessible toilet (not that I saw). The wooden ramp in front of the door was a bit slippy under my stick in the rain, which I think may just be my needing to replace the rubbery bit at the bottom - it's been happening everywhere lately. The view over the bay is gorgeous too. Honestly a gem, definitely recommended.
