Order was taken, total mess up with order. When received it was not what l ordered. Told it was granary and it was wholemeal. Also, ordered tuna mayonnaise got tuna and cheese. Waited over 30 minutes and got stale cakes. Soup was bitter. So unfortunately had a bad experience. Would l go again. NO!!

Sadly the day we went the drinks took so long to arrive we had finished our cakes and were virtually ready to leave. Then I made the mistake of going to use the toilet and it was in a bad state - not something I'll be repeating

I visit here often for brunch/coffee with friends. Delicious food, friendly staff and proceeds support the local community, win win win ☺️ the pancakes are the best!!🤤

My most favourite place to eat. A great place to meet up for lunch with my mummy friends and their kids. Wonderful family area where you can relax knowing the kids are safe. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble and if course the food is outstanding. If you can get on one of the evening events you will not be disappointed. Can't rate this place enough.

Good breakfast, reasonable price. Great initiative.

The mix does a brilliant job for the youngsters of stowmarket and cabbages and kings is brilliant. Food is always fantastic and my wife is very fussy with her coffee but she loves the way they make it there. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. 10/10 for you all.

This morning was the first time visiting. We really enjoyed the cafe. The staff are so friendly and very accommodating when you order your food. Lovely food and the food was served very hot. Will definitely be going there again.
Kelly Dyble — Google review
Love this place, the food is great value for money and super tasty and friendly service from the staff. Seating can be a little sparse at busy times. Just be patient or ask someone to share, I'm sure they won't mind, the locals won't bite.

Nice cafe great selection on the menu, meet here with family and friends, always busy has a little children's play area for them to enjoy themselves whilst you have a coffee.

Experience a delightful excursion on the River Stour in a kayak, which is freely available to guests. Choose to stay in the Garden Room, one of two charming accommodations found within the historic Grade II-listed cottage. From here, you can observe magnificent dragonflies from Chad Brook as they gracefully flutter around your exclusive garden. Additionally, take pleasure in perusing the literary works of esteemed war poet Edmund Blunden during your visit.
We had our wedding reception at the The Mill. Okay, it was very close to the church, but thet was not the reason we chose it as a venue. The food was superb and we were able to offer guests a menue choice. The food was not the usual wedding fare but gastro, almost Michelin style food and every guest commented. The venue was beautifully presented and at the beginning the champagne flowed. Charlie and the staff took all the worry off our shoulders and the event was flawless. We are so happy we chose The Mill. Thank you to you all.

I experienced this afternoon tea with 3 friends today & thoroughly enjoyed it. The sandwiches were fresh, the sausage rolls were especially good as were the homemade cheese & plain scones. The icing on the cake, literally, was the selection of 4 types of homemade cakes, all delicious. I must mention Bradley who looked after us all afternoon. He couldn’t do enough for us. He was very polite, friendly & attentive. I thoroughly recommend this venue for afternoon tea & look forward to returning again soon.

Fabulous Sunday Roast, but 2 kitchen girls decided to have a full blown row for all to hear...not very professional. Felt sorry for the waitering staff as they were so helpful throughout.

Had an afternoon tea at the mill. It was the best one I've had in a very long time. Fresh bread, lovely sandwiches, good variety of cakes, moist and tasty. The scones were still warm and super tasty. Would definitely recommend. 5 stars. Happy customers

First time here despite living in Stowmarket for some years! Had a lovely pre Christmas lunch with my daughter (Korean Chicken & Haddock and Chips). Great service, food was excellent and not too pricey. "I'll be back" 😁
Paul Huggett — Google review
Went here for dinner today for my daughter’s birthday, bit of a last minute decision to go out for dinner and it was Mother’s Day as well so we didn’t expect them to fit us in at such short notice but they did, service very good, friendly staff, food was lovely and well cooked, we all had different roast dinners which came with a good variety of veg and the biggest Yorkshire puds I’ve ever seen and we all enjoyed them very much, dessert menu had much better choices than the usual chocolate fudge cake or cookie dough etc that is the staple of most places nowadays, only criticism is that the cappuccino myself and my son had was very small cups and not as hot as we would have liked but overall a lovely meal & welcoming staff, will certainly visit again when in the area next

Brilliant service for a first time visit today. We had afternoon tea which was absolutely brilliant, good price and so much we took some home.

It's a nice place, good customer service, good portions and I have enjoyed my food. Downside was super small parking lot. Very small tables for 2 and very close to each other. I used Groupon voucher and would not come back if I would be paying full price. Maybe we have been lucky but we could not get a coffee either as coffee machine wasn't working. Orange juice tasted like mixed with water.

Went here for the second time for a work colleagues Birthday, first time the food was lovely, this time however not good I'm afraid. Two of the ladies including the Birthday girl ordered the linguini which wasn't very flavoursome and very bland. They ended up sending it back and not eating it, they didn't pay for it but that's not the point, it tarnished what should have been a special evening. Suffice to say we won't be dining there again.
Sarah Fikry — Google review
Fabulous afternoon tea and great service. Far better than a much pricier one I had a few weeks ago. No problem with adapting the sandwiches for us fussy eaters too!
Karen Bambury — Google review
I took a group of 38 last week for afternoon tea and the food and service was amazing. It couldn't be faulted and the staff's willingness to accommodate food preferences and intolerances was unbelievable. I highly recommend them! Thankyou so much!
Jo Butcher — Google review
Appalling service and ruined my partner’s birthday. Having looked at other reviews now, and the extremely poor attitude from The Mill in the responses, we can see why. We had waited over 30 minutes and not even been asked for our drinks order, while the waiter (a young man with long hair) was completely ignoring us trying to get his attention. He decided to serve 4 other tables that had come in after us. At the point when we finally caught his attention (through very dramatic waving, as that was the only thing that seemed to work, and other attempts were ignored by him), the other 4 tables already had their food and drinks. When we asked for our Groupon voucher to be refunded, the waiter was extremely unprofessional and fragile, and immediately said “I won’t be shouted at” even though we were very respectful in how we spoke to him, and definitely not shouting. I can see other reviews also comment on the lack of ability of staff with basic communication skills.. The manager on shift couldn’t guarantee we would get our money back, but we decided to leave anyway as it was just such an uncomfortable atmosphere. We were then able to get our money back via Groupon, by the restaurant sending an email confirming we hadn’t had any food. In the email, they tried to use the excuse that they’d “checked the CCTV” and could see the other tables had come in before us? So not only did we have the worst experience here, they then tried to say we were lying. There were 4 of us there and we all saw the 4 tables of customers come in and sit down after us… I fully anticipate that we will get a sarcastic response from the management like in other reviews, instead of any sort of self-reflection / taking responsibility.

The Kings Arms, located near Harwich International Port, is a delightful establishment for a satisfying dinner. The interior is tastefully adorned and exudes a warm ambiance. The staff are amiable, always sporting cheerful smiles and stylish attire. Their menu boasts delectable offerings such as double cheeseburgers, fish & chips, and chocolate cremeux desserts that are sure to please the palate.
A really nice pub with a friendly welcoming staff and atmosphere. Good drinks, yummy food and an overall decent place altogether to spend quality time with friends and/or loved ones!

Exquisite food, flavoursome and out of this world. I had the lobster bisque with cod, smoked haddock, scallops and mussels and my friend had the double beef burger. Service was attentive and the place is very quaint and tastefully decorated.

Hadn't been here since the new owners took over but heard good reviews. Waitresses very friendly and helpful. Sunday roasts very good except cauliflower cheese which was vile......cooked to a mush and cheese sauce a thick tasteless gloup. Apart from that the landlord was somewhat short and sharp in fact bordering unfriendly. We'll give it another go and hope he changes his attitude. Oh we were also overcharged on our drinks!
Chumley — Google review
Absolutely fantastic pub, tucked away in a small village with a big heart. Everything was exceptional, including the food. It is a real gem, and the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars for food is because if it waned to, it could push for Michelin stars im sure. Hencethe reason I'm beingso harsh. However, it needs to stay as it is for its surroundings. We'll done.

Absolutely 5* pub. I think it's a bit of a hidden gem in haughley. Gorgeous interior, lovely staff and very high quality food & drinks. Easily the best burger I've had in years.

Really gorgeous pub and eatery. Super friendly staff and fantastic food. Not the cheapest but cheap doesn't always equate to good. Would wholeheartedly eat their again and recommend

We dined here last Thursday, after turning up early we sat and had a drink in the bar area. However, I imagine if they are fully booked this wouldn't be as possible as it looks like they use the bar for over flow restaurant reservations. But they do have an inviting looking courtyard outside which would be perfect in the summer months. Having enjoyed our first drinks we ordered 3 of the nibbles before ordering our food selection. The standout for me was the buttermilk chicken with the smoked chilli mayonnaise. Such a simple dish done outstandingly well and the rest of the meal followed the same suit. The menu isn't vast but I would say there is something for everyone & whatever you order I don't think you'd be disappointed. The restaurant space was warm and friendly, the tables neatly spaced and for a Thursday night in late April the restaurant had a wonderful buzz to it. Already excited to return here in the future.

We were on our way to Harwich International Port for the night ferry. The Kings Arms is 2 miles off the route and is a perfect place for dinner. The interior is beautifully decorated and has a very nice feel. The staff were very friendly, always smiling and smartly dressed. The double cheeseburger and fish & chips with a chocolate cremeux dessert were delicious - this was a great find.

Crown at Stowupland is a hidden gem that offers amazing food and excellent service. The staff are incredibly accommodating, even checking food labels in the kitchen for dietary needs. The atmosphere is laid-back and casual, with attentive but not overbearing service. The spiced lasagne is particularly recommended as a delicious menu option. Additionally, the fried chicken and chips with BBQ beans are described as stunning and of high quality.
What a hidden gem. Came here this evening with my family One of whom has dietary needs. The staff could not be more accommodating even checked the label of the food in the kitchen Service was laid back and casual. Staff were attentive while not being over powering Food was served up well. Presention good and tasted great

Went here for a mid afternoon lunch on Sunday & not many parking spaces to choose from, so I took it was a popular place. Took a little while to get served at the bar & drinks were reasonably priced, seated quickly & prompt service asking what we wanted from the menu. I had the fried chicken with fries, slaw & beans which was very nice & my friends had the roast each, which they said was very nice also. Tasty food & the only letdown was no one came back to our table to see if we wanted dessert, which I did but ended up paying the bill & leaving dessertless :( Pub looks like it has been updated & very nice inside & plenty of tables and the place was buzzing with the public eating & drinking. Overall the food was very good & would go back to have another dish off the menu, will say that the Sunday menu is different to the Monday to Saturday menu as I wanted have the crown burger meal but that is not avaliable on Sundays. What i did have was very tasty and I enjoyed. Slightly dearer than some restaurants & this place does allow dogs and was 4 in there while I was eating but all of them kept under control & being "good boys & girls" Hope you enjoy your meal if you decide to take a trip here as I did :)

Really lovely Christmas dinner here with the work team! Booked in advance via email which was simply enough to do and the staff member Mary has been very helpful and accommodating! Dinner was lovely! I had the game changer starter, wasn't sure of what to expect but it was very delicious soy and chilli dressing, almost comparable to a crispy chilli beef! Turkey Christmas dinner for main - fab! Nice portion size and lovely cauliflower and broccoli cheese served alongside. Christmas pudding for dessert was divine! Ordered a white wine spritzer and only complaint (which may shock some!) was that I could have done with more lemonade and less wine 😂 Staff were really friendly and the venue was warm and welcoming. Definitely one to visit again and try the normal menu!

A well stocked shop with lots and lots of different items. A tad on the pricey side on some bits, but you sort of expect that with some of these sorts of places..! Nice for a wonder round, and then you can pop to the Court Yard Cafe just behind or perhaps over for a short stroll in the nature reserve.
Andrew Cartwright — Google review
Very poor breakfast, greasy cold hard fried eggs, only one rasher of bacon which tasted like it was cooked a long time ago, sausages undercooked, very unimpressed, young waitress, nice but, didn’t ask how my breakfast was until she came to collect plates, staff talking to each other rather than checking customers are ok. Will not be returning, they discounted my unsatisfactory breakfast to £14.50? Not sure how much discount that was . Very unsatisfactory
Mr Wood — Google review
Went to the cafe for coffee and scone which was lovely. Great little place to eat. It was a frosty morning and my only complaint is that it was chilly in the cafe. Had to keep coat on.

Poor service , ordered granary bread sandwich , served white , spoke to waitress , said she would get it changed , nothing happened , just sat there , partner almost finished eating while waitress ignored me , eventually spoke to different lady who dealt with it straight away , overpriced , unimpressed , shame it used to be better .

Unique farm shop with a zero waste shopping section, where you can bring empty containers and fill them up with foods, detergents and more. Gorgeous selection of cheeses and other delicious local products. Recommend the truffle brie!

Visited yesterday and I had mushrooms on sour dough which was lovely, hot and eggs were cooked to perfection. However my partner's ham, egg n chips was "disgusting" according to him (I thought it looked awful too.) His eggs were hard/overcooked, the ham was warm and the portion size was fairly small. He didn't like to complain as we were with family and he's not one to make a fuss though he said after he wish he'd said something. We ate here last year and he had the ham, egg n chips and said it was much nicer then. My cousin had the loaded fries which looked amazing just a shame they only offer it on menu with bacon n chicken. You are missing a trick Alder Carr as non meat eaters would love this I'm sure if you offered a non meat version.
Lorraine Bradford — Google review
The farm shop has a good selection, and we love the morning buns. The cafe has a strange window between 11.30am and 12pm of no hot food, only tea and cakes?! We arrived at 11.24am, ready to order at 11.32am only to be told we couldn’t order food. Luckily the staff was helpful enough to ask the kitchen, and we were able to order some simple items off the breakfast menu. Overall, lovely setting, food has fresh ingredients and tastes good, but small portion and tad pricey for what it is. (Full English breakfast starts at £12.50, Breakfast muffin at £10).
