After the COVID-19 lockdowns and with establishments operating at full capacity, I was uncertain about reserving a table at The Wheelhouse. However, I'm pleased to say that I made the right decision. When my party of three visited on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was completely booked and even had to turn away potential customers.
Good menu , great service and well cooked food. Book in advance if you want to be sure of getting a table. Decent booze selection too

Rang to book table and managed to get in. This place is really nice and different. It was built in 1925. This is on the main part of Minehead. The staff friendly and welcoming. The owners really nice, ran out of blackcurrant so girl popped to shop which I thought was good. The food was nice though peas bit hard but was still nice.. Would go again and recommend

Booked to eat outside of Butlins as food on site was poor - it was a lovely meal, lovely staff too. The crumble dessert really made it for me
Laura Wesley — Google review
Very nice, very welcoming and very accommodating when we booked as I mentioned having two large dogs and the staff gave a table in the corner so the dogs were out of the way. The only let down is that the meat for the Sunday lunch seemed like it had been microwaved to heat it back up. The pavlova was unbelievably good and obviously made in house rather than bought in.

Having come out of lockdowns and with venues back to full capacity I wasn't sure whether to book The Wheelhouse or not. All I can say is that I'm glad I did. Visited as a party of 3 on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was fully booked and turning people away at the door. Food was tasty and wholesome and the atmosphere was friendly (so friendly that those being turned away were being given suggestions of alternate, competing, venues to visit). Had a shared starter, and then main courses and desserts. Came away very satisfied and will definitely revisit when next in town.

Went there with a friend for Lunch. Had the steak and it was cooke perfectly. The chips were amazing and so were the Onion Rings. The old building is a nice atmosphere inside (Wish they had AC but most old building done so can’t really complain) Staff were Great and Attentive. The food came out fast. Would go again and would recommend if you looking for a nice sit down meal

What a wonderful little restaurant. Good quality home cooked food, attentive staff and really good value. We really couldn't fault the place. (The desserts were amazing)

Excellent meal here this weekend, attentive staff but not intrusive. Priced well for quality food. Allowed us to take our dog too. Would highly recommend.

Booked the last available inside table the day before for Sunday lunch. So glad we did. Good size mains leaving room for dessert. Had a pork lunch (with roast pots, carrots and tenderstem broccoli) followed by cheesecake with raspberries and raspberry coulis. Excellent. May return for another lunch later in the week.

Great prices, friendly staff, good food. Glad we aimed for this place. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyed a delicious homemade Sunday lunch with dessert here. The menu offered so many choices, and all looked so good, that it was hard to choose. We had a perfect roast beef lunch, followed by crème brûlée and pavlova with fresh raspberries. The service was very friendly and efficient and the price very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Lovely cosy restaurant with friendly staff, excellent service and tasty food.

Very nice restaurant. Very good food. We had Sunday lunch and the roast potatoes and parsnip were probably amongst the best I've had. Bread and butter pudding was big enough to share (if you've a mind). You must book for Sunday lunch. Price is reasonable and service is very good.
Pauline Robins — Google review
A quintessentially British restaurant which is widely hailed as the number one catering establishment out of 67 in the environs of Minehead. There is a pleasant outside seating area when weather permits, otherwise inside is a comfortable area with pleasing ambience. The menu here can be as simple or as comprehensive as you want, from very reasonably priced snacks to a superb three course meal which still won't break the bank. Service is quick and attentive without being overbearing. This venue is a "must do" for us on every visit to Minehead and has always delivered and surpassed expectations every time. Happy to recommend unreservedly.

A delightful woman successfully accommodated her family at Fausto's Italian restaurant on short notice, without any time constraints. The presence of a single chef, who happened to be the lady's sibling, contributed to the prompt delivery of delectable food and outstanding service. Despite the swift service, they had ample time to enjoy their desserts. This experience brought a satisfying conclusion to their day trip. Gratitude was expressed towards the chef for his contributions.
We were greeted with friendly staff and has such amazing food here. We couldn't finish our mains, as the server recommended the Alpina Salad, which came with blue cheese and walnuts. It was amazing and got the reminder packed up in a takeaway to finish off later. Great food, great service, lovely atmosphere, quirky and yummy.

Lovely lady managed to squeeze our family in spontaneously - were upfront we had an hour gap - we were not rushed at all. One chef, lady's brother helping out the restaurant - the food came out almost immediately, brilliant service - had time for desserts. Very glad we could be served, was the perfect end after a day trip. Please thank the chef.

Restaurant’s atmosphere is soothing and romantic. I ordered the Salmone as take away which was full of flavour and pasta was perfectly cooked. Have to book in advance for a table as it’s busy Friday evening.
Henna B — Google review
Good feel to the place with all the nice lights etc. Really nice pizzas. But is on the pricy side for what you get. Good service as was busy but still fitted us in. Would go back again when in the area.

Found this gem of a restaurant on the last night of our mini break ? Outstanding pizzas with very generous toppings that tasted amazing. Excellent customer service from a friendly owner. Relaxed atmosphere with a peaceful ambience that makes it stand out from the crowd. Recommend a visit if you're in this area ! 👍 p.s. the olives are scrummy !!

I couldn't really fault the restaurant, the food was excellent, garlic mushrooms to start, Sea Bass main with a side of garlic bread (which I couldn't finish). Busy, warm (a bit too warm), cosy, a little loud but accommodating and pleasant. I can't rate them higher, neither can I mark them down for the entitled young twits who came in, seated themselves and proceeded to have inappropriate, loud, conversations about bodily functions and their, shall we say 'unusual' bedroom activities. Drunk? Maybe, had it not been for them I'd have stayed for dessert and a coffee but I couldn't tolerate it any longer. I'm far from prudish but listening to that was beyond what I'd consider comfortable. There's a time and place for that, chaps and that wasn't it. All in all I would recommend Fausto's and would return again, hopefully sans the riffraff.
Elienne Harris — Google review
Sorry but the food was very expensive and not at all value for money. They need to learn how to make Eton Mess, not a bit of cream in site. A bought meringue ring with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream and fruit coulis. My partner had perfittoroles, 2 came out!!. Both desserts came to £17. Won't be going there again even though the service was good.

I visited Faustos with a group of family and friends and we were highly impressed. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating, they were able to amend dishes as requested. Anna was also amazing and bought in vegan Prosecco and cheese especially for a vegan member of the party. She explained the menu clearly and that they could amend pretty much any dish to be vegan. Everyone in the group thought their meal was delicious all vegan/ vegetarian and meat eaters! We couldn’t thank Anna and the team enough for their hospitality and look forward to visiting again when we are next in Minehead.

A must every year, I can’t say enough about the service, quality of food. Perfect for that celebratory meal or just to treat yourself, too nice to become regular and become complacent. Update since moved to new premises, all of the quaintness is lost in the new smaller restaurant, hard not to be in earshot of others conversation, now not a great place for a quiet couples meal, different food choice this time but not keen on the new look and change so reduced the review from 5 to 4
Tim Shepherd — Google review
We had the luck to get a table for two without reservations. Service was very lovely and patient. Had some low-alcoholic Irish cider, perfect after a day of hiking. Food was so delicious, generous, yet light. I had a huge bowl of Cesar Salad (chicken outside well roasted, inside juicy. The dressing could do with a little less salt) with garlic bread. My partner had a well seasoned, juicy Pork Tenderloin with a cider&apple sauce and vegetables (baby corn, beetroot, little yellow zucchini,..). We couldn't order anything of the delicious dessert menu bc we were both so full. Payed a little over 40 pounds. Perfect variety of foods. Gluten-free pasta possible, vegan/ vegetarian options. We will come again!!

Situated in the historic Quaytown area of Minehead, The Old Ship Aground is a charming pub housed in a 1911 Edwardian building. Its prime location overlooking the harbor offers breathtaking views and the perfect starting point for those embarking on the South West Coastal Path. With its individually styled rooms, diners can expect an inviting atmosphere and warm hospitality. The menu boasts traditional beers and delectable River Cottage-style dishes made from locally sourced ingredients.
Very impressed indeed. We didn't have high expectations but were genuinely blown away by the professionalism and friendliness of all the staff we spoke to. It reminded me of restaurants and bars abroad (Spain, Greece etc.) where it's clear that the people working there take their jobs seriously and take pride in them. I just hope that the staff at The Old Ship are appropriately paid. Food and drink were also excellent, as was the atmosphere! We'll be back for sure!

A convenient hostelry from our holiday let and was good. We shared the mushroom starter which was very nice. The OH enjoyed her F'n'C but I wasn't impressed with my choice of Hunters Chicken (I knew I should have chosen the mussels). Lovely deserts made up for it! Excellent beer and even better service by the staff. So highly recommend

Lovely traditional style pub in a great spot. We came here for Sunday lunch and had the carvery - would 100% recommend!! Not usually the biggest fan of a carvery, but we all really enjoyed it. Also, big shout out to Rosie, who was super friendly, attentive, and great when it came to my daughter's allergies. Thanks all!

Lovely bank holiday stay at the old ship. Rooms are reasonable size. Although shower was quite small but very powerful and plenty of hot water. We stayed in a double room towards the back but had decent sea view from window. The double rooms at front over looking harbour are very nice with a small balcony which is nice if you have the weather. Breakfast was very tasty but fairly small in comparison to other places I've stayed. Meals were good when ate there again portions to money were ok but not as good as other places we ate for cheaper. But great for dog friendliness and all staff we encountered worked well and very very helpfuland obliging. Would use again especially if coming with a dog.

A group of 7 with a wheelchair and 2 kids. We ate lunch here and didn't stay at the hotel. The service was friendly and welcoming. The food was incredible. We had fish and chips, the batter was so tasty. I ate mine slowly to savour each bite. Highly recommend a visit here.

Absolutely wonderful! Great pub, very quirky and interesting decor throughout, lots of love put into it. Food was excellent and the staff are really lovely. Bed was super comfy and the view from our room was sublime. Will be going back again in August and we can't wait!!

Stayed here to start the SW coastal path. Rooms are comfortable and clean but the place is a bit tired. The pub is quite authentic, the food and drink were good, what really stands out are the staff, the manager was amazing and all the staff really cared. Breakfast was good albeit in a rather grotty dining room and we had a great packed lunch for our walk. I'd recommend this place to start the SW coastal path as it's right at the beginning of the path and we couldn't find anywhere else that came close in Minehead.

Had an amazing Sunday carvery, the meat and veg were delicious cooked to perfection and so tasty. Husband enjoyed the nut roast option. The puddings selection spot on. Service was fantastic and the pace set was great for a chill Sunday. Atmosphere welcoming and the setting beautiful. We will definitely be back next time in Minehead. Book in advance is my recommendation

Stopped off for a Sunday lunch, hadn't booked a table and even though they were busy they got us in. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was lovely. Best Sunday dinner I've had for a while. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. Definitely worth a visit.

We booked a table for 8 with a note to ask for additional seating for 2 toddlers but got no reply, I then emailed and phoned several times over 2 weeks to try to ask and also got no response at all. Thankfully the staff could accommodate us and did a fantastic job. The food was mediocre and came from a less than 1 page limited menu. The pub itself was small & loud but full of charm and at the end of Mineheads small harbour. The use of wooden boards instead of plates is always a bug bare in pubs for us.
Tom — Google review
Great pub, really enjoyed our ploughmans and cider. Have to say how impressed I was with the girls that served us, very polite, efficient, smiling and good at their job. Downsides, we opted to eat out side as it was a lovely day, and the beer garden certainly looked a bit neglected and there was a very noisy chiller fan that seemed to cut in and out about every three minutes, and was quite invasive into conversations, pity really. But had a good meal despite these slight negatives.
andrew Boorn — Google review
Great place on the old harbour away from the main part of Minehead. My heart sank when I saw the Sunday carvery advertised but as it was getting late we called in and were rewarded with friendly service, a warm and comfortable seating are and a delicious meal. On this occasion,it was towards the end of food service, the chef, Don, came to collect diners and took them to the carvery at the back of the pub in a large dinning space, presumably used at peak times. Don was friendly and chatty and obviously took pride in his carvery offering, explaining some of his ingredients and carving a fresh turkey which was succulent and tasty. All in all a perfect Sunday roast. Highly recommended. Better to book, it's very popular.

Had fish and chips…, at the old ship a ground .. because of there reputation on a good food Guide online.. when the meal came., I did expect real homemade fried potato chips., & not 10.., Yes 10, Frozen McKays, type chips.. not nice.. I did point this out the Waiter.,, only to Say no that’s wrong..He went directly into the kitchen.., To come back and say that’s how we do it now..no apologies… I could have gone to spoons for the same meal for half the price..or a local chippy take-a-way. Very Disappointed.., oh yes the pea’s we’re sloppy too.. sorry for bad Review.. The fish 🐟 was nice.., but overall the chips and peas were half of the meal. I was left hungry after leaving.. 10 frozen chips 🍟 .. 😣 .. O,S,A. please don’t reply to my comments.. There’s no excuses.

Booked a table as it was a Saturday night. We were seated quickly, given a choice of table location. We chose from the daily specials menu and the meals came quickly and we're delicious. A bonus was that dogs are not just "allowed" but really welcomed. Bruce loved the fusses and a supply of treats. Thanks to the efficient and friendly staff. Being local and having eaten a few times before we will definitely be back.

We stayed here over night. Comfy bed, great facilities, clean and tidy. Amazing dinner. Breakfast was included - absolutely delicious. Never tasted such a fab breakfast. All staff are friendly and polite, well dressed, always putting customers first. We came back and had lunch, roast was tasty, my partner actually drank the gravy.. he said he’s never had anything like it before. Thankyou Rosie and team for making our stay and meals so pleasant. We are travelling back next weekend so we shall see you Saturday :) xx

Should really be Six Stars 🌟 🤩. Pre book well in advance so as not to miss out. Menu uncluttered, vegan and gluten-free, well labelled . There is plenty of variety on the menu. All dishes looked fresh and made with love, care, and attention to detail. Service is natural, and staff positively engaged with all members of our group. Don't miss out on a little gem in Minehead. Next time we are back in town, we will book again. Thank you to the whole team for a great meal experience. 🥰. Oh Yes the sticky toffee pudding rocks 😆

We stayed here in 2022 and had a fabulous time, this year was really disappointing. The fixture and fittings in the room were falling apart. The toilet roll holder, the shower were broken, also the bathroom door only locked from the outside. When we requested fresh towels, we were told that we'd be charge £4 for the pleasure, and that our room would not be serviced if we did. In the end they gave us the towels free of charge but did not service the room. At breakfast, the portions were rather small inconsistent. I asked if I could get an extra sausage. I was charged £3 for one very average sausage! As for toast and butter, this was given very sparingly. One of our party was told that extra toast was not usually given. The service is extremely slow and seems to be a complaint from most people that visit. Finally, one of our party could not get into his room after leaving the key at reception. When he came back he found it closed and locked for the night. The emergency number given was not answered by anyone until a day later. He ended up sleeping in the corridor and then in the bus shelter, on an old mattress. It really is a shame what has happened to this tired old place. We'll be back in Minehead next year, but not at the Old Ship Aground.

Had an amazing meal here last night. My husband and I had ‘The Catch of the Day’,which was Hake on a bed of onions, green cabbage, roasted beetroot and new pots. The flavour was lemony and tasted divine. Our son had the Cod & chips which had been cooked to perfection. Shout out to Rosie who went above and beyond to clean up my sandals for me after I stepped in some dog mess outside☹️

I had a great stay here. The staff were the most friendly and welcoming team. The pub is in a nice location with a sea view from the window. The food was good and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was included and they made me a sandwich to go which was awesome. I look forward to returning when I am next here for work.

We just got back from a three day break at minehead quay and the pub was a very short walk from are accommodation. The pub had a really friendly atmosphere and the staff were excellent. We had are evening meals which very good. The pub is also dog friendly and as small treats in a jam for them.

The most heartwarming staff even when they were completely worn out because of to much work. Sam and the team did splendid .The rooms could do with a makeover, but the charm is intact and we just loved it and the surroundings of Minehead is absolutely worth a walk and drive. The small towns are so pretty 😍

I stopped off here to eat in the pub whilst on a little road trip. The pub is set in a nice little Bay Area. We used the street parking behind which was reasonably priced (certainly compared to London prices!). We had the halloumi burger and 2 steak pie dishes. Both types of dish were very nicely prepared. The steak in the pie was very tender. The plates and cutlery were clean and aesthetically pleasing. The meal including 1 alcoholic drink and 2 soft drinks was £56. There was also a pile of games - we played some cards. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Would recommend!

Just went in for drink and to decide what food to have man at bar told us to take seat. Half way through our drink lady came and told us to move. No reserved sign on table to say it was booked. Would have appreciated another table. Ut woman was t interested in finding out if there was. So left

We had high hopes of an excellent meal at the Old Ship Aground, and as we were going in, we heard a group of people leaving chatting about how lovely it had been. Unfortunately, we were the last booking of the night and I think that the chef had already got his coat on ready to leave as our meal was really not that good, with no seasoning and with some items cooked beyond being edible. However - I always think that the measure of an establishment is how they react when things do go wrong, and in this respect I cannot fault them. The manager, Regina, did everything possible to make things right and we were content with the outcome - the replacement meal was excellent. Well done to her - it's very clear that she is passionate about providing excellent food with excellent service and although she has only been there 3 months I have no doubt she'll succeed. So despite the hiccup with the quality of one meal, it's still a 5* review.

We had a one night stay at the quaint Edwardian pub and stayed in the sea view king room. Great location. Facilities in the room were average and all in working order. The pub decor was very atmospheric. The staff were pleasant and able to check us in just after 3pm. Breakfast was good. Quick service at breakfast. Unfortunately we had a terrible night sleep as there was loud music playing from 10pm through to 3am in the morning when it finally stopped. Still unsure where the music was coming from. Sounded as though it was coming from down in the pub? Unlikely to stay again due to noise disruption over night.

Passioni Italiane in Minehead exceeded all expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The ambiance transported us straight to Italy with its charming decor and cozy atmosphere. The menu was simple and perfect for lunch, We started with the bruschetta, a burst of fresh flavors that set the tone for the meal. The pasta dishes were cooked to perfection, and the sauces were rich and full of depth - we loved the Lamb and Rasin Meat Balls, and the Baked Beetroot Risotto was something else! 👌🏻 What truly stood out was the genuine passion for Italian cuisine that radiated from the couple who run it. They were not only friendly about the menu but also eager to share their story of how they found themselves in Minehead.. It's rare to find such a genuine Italian gem in a Somerset town, but Passioni Italiane is a true hidden treasure. We left with full bellies and grateful hearts, already planning our next visit. If you're looking for an incredible Italian dining experience, look no further than Passioni Italiane. It's a delightful taste of Italy right in the heart of Somerset.

Very homely and welcoming place, I have been back since I did this review. A pot of tea which has taken the top spot now off Horner tea room. The tea was exceptional, the teapot huge. We had Jerry the best general manager around serve us. It truly was service with a smile. We stopped here for breakfast on our way through Minehead. Parking is free if you register at reception. All you can eat breakfast deal was good. Nice choice and we'll cooked. We sat outside with dogs. Inside was a bit untidy, it seemed staff couldn't keep up with cleaning whilst breakfast was being served. Friendly gentleman on entry who explained the system, however girls inside less helpful. Altogether felt it ok for price and ideal if you need a quick stop off.

Been a few times now and tried several things on the menu. We're yet to have a bad meal! The sunday carvery is top notch! Service is great and the staff very attentive and friendly. Negatives: It's not the cleanest place in the world, cobwebs and dust is plentiful and the new 'waterless' urinals in the Gents means you walk out with stnging eyes from the pungent aroma!

An ok experience - service was slow - I think they were under staffed. But the staff that were there were friendly and helpful. The food quality was just ok slight on the cheap side. Great little spot very near to Butlin’s if you want a good meal at decent prices. Went there all week instead of paying through the nose at Butlin’s itself. They were short staffed, but the staff there worked their butts off to ensure the best experience they could offer with good hot food. I can’t thank Charlotte & Jerry and the chefs enough for the efforts they made this week. The above mentioned definitely kept the boat afloat and deserve a pay rise!

This is a cut above the usual standard in my view. The pub is new build and modern to service the adjacent Premier Inn customers. The food was simple but good and the staff polite and attentive. Not unpleasant views out of the large windows.

For the price, the portion sizes were small and there was a lot missing from the menu. Drinks were reasonably priced but the food was lackluster. The food came out quickly (it was not very busy and the food quite simple and deep-fried) but the fries on each dish were cold. The meals looked to be kid's portions. You'd be better off going elsewhere, Wetherspoon or McDonald's I would suggest.

We visit Brewer’s Fayre in Minehead often and today we were served by a lady called Georgina. Although we had never seen her before. She was very friendly and welcoming us from the beginning of our arrival to the end with a smile and great customer service, while serving us with the food that we ordered and asking if we need anything else I asked for some mayonnaise and she brought it quickly and efficiently getting it. The restaurant was busier than other days and she was very busy running around serving other tables or cleaning them setting them up for new arrivals but she was still smiley and friendly to everybody. She provided the best customer service that we ever seen in Brewer’s Fayre, Minehead. And as customers we think, she should be recognised.

Pub was clean and tidy. Food was freshly cooked. Cocktails were not bad. Staff were friendly and welcoming. But it was busy. I recommend to book a table in advance.

Tasty meals, reasonable cost after discount voucher. Staff forgot to provide side order of coleslaw and had to be reminded. Temperature was a little cool though perhaps we shouldn't have sat by the window

The restaurant was quiet but we had such excellent service. We advised we had an autistic child with us and they went beyond service. Interacting with him, service was quick. I couldn’t fault it. The 2 ladies and the gentleman who served us where so friendly, helpful and they were a credit to the company
