Gift shop
The Witches' Market in La Paz is a traditional market where vendors sell herbal and folk remedies, as well as unusual ingredients to supplicate the spirits of the Aymara world. Some of the more unusual offerings at the market include dried frogs, llama fetuses, and soapstone figurines carved from local materials.
Learn to NEGOTIATE. Even if you do not speak Spanish, ask for the price and just keep walking, compare prices, go back if needed, but do not accept the first offer. The main touristy streets are pretty safe but don't go wondering elsewhere. For food you have to try a hidden treasure, which is also like an antique museum, named Angelo Colonial. We had natural juices and a soup 'ajiaco criollo'. Amazing!!

It is a good place to visit and learn a bit from the local traditions. I found a woman who explained to me a little about the ceremonies she practices, the Pachamama, and her medicine. I believe this is a must in La Paz.

Oh my, the best place for gift shopping. They have absolutely everything! The market is huge spreading few blocks. Always negotiate and never buy at the first place you saw something. First I was offered textile for 600bs, then 450, then negotiated to 340, and bought another one for 240 from the street seller (not the store). Always negotiate, it’s the bazar! Mostly cash is accepted, only few stores accept credit cards. Just always have cash in Bolivia anywhere you go. Cash is king over there! You can find small restaurants that are absolutely amazing (recommended of course is Popular Bolivian Food, but it’s opened only 12pm-2:30pm and you need to make a reservation over there. While waiting your 45-50ml in you can walk around the market). Good luck!

Interesting market in La paz center. Curious dead alpaca babies. They sell them for rituals. You can find all tipes of traditional products, souvenirs, coca, shirts, bolivian jewellery...

Quite authentic for moreless touristy place. Very safe and interesting place. Shop vendors and Shamans are extremely welcoming and non-aggressive at offering their products and services.

It is better to visit this place along with a free walking tour to understand the use of main items in these shops. By the way this street smells so good after passing the streets with lots of traffic smelling burnt tire or petrol.

Love the place, although from what I heard I expected more witchy stuff. It had changed a lot over the years and now it’s mainly tourist shops. But it’s a lovely and colourful area. We still saw some witch shops witch dried herbs and dead llamas, which I thought was really cool.
Bor Blaauw — Google review
Very fun street to walk along during an afternoon or evening. It's less than 5 minutes walk uphill from the Plaza San Francisco. The eastern end has a few shops with local remedies including dead llamas for rituals! The rest of the street has small independent souvenir shops. The shop staff are all very friendly. Bargaining is possible.
V C — Google review
Nice place. Lot of unique items. Most interesting is alpaca foetuses in all sizes. Shopkeeper also doubles as an expert who would do the ritual for you. Bit spooky too. Very close to city centre, at Frances church as well as st Augustine church. Very colorful

an incredibly vibrant and fun place to spend just a little time or hours. lots of great silver jewelry from around bolivia, speciality artisan stories and crafts.

What makes a Nation or a society….. it is their traditions, belief systems and stories that creates their culture and builds the society. In the heart of La Paz only a block or so away from the San Francisco Church is an area that shows off the heritage of the Bolivian people. Stalls and large shops offer a whole variety of paraphernalia that caters to the ancient traditions and belief systems. On the sidewalks you can also find astrologers and card readers. The Mother Earth is worshiped here as the believers go about buying their items for their ceremonies and needs. The medicine men and women can offer services by blessing them as well. Interesting area to visit. Suggest taking a guide who can explain things in detail. The irony of a huge Catholic Church nearby cannot be overlooked!

A beautiful street to visit - you may smell out the peaceful and seemingly interesting cultures of the Aymara, Quechua and other indigenous chifleras doings in it. I recommend 100% to stroll around and buy few items you deem favourite from them.
Arnau Bertran Manyé — Google review
Pretty beautiful old cobblestone streets and many awesome arts! The witches shops all lay up with multiple llama fetus and some different products you don't see elsewhere. Make sure to not go inside to take photos cause they will charge you money. Also filled with many gift shops with good prices compared to the airport.
Pavinee Gaffney — Google review
It is a single street for tourists, but there are not only ordinary souvenir shops, but also fortune telling and spell casting, which are unique to La Paz. Therefore even if you don’t bother to buy anything, just looking around is enjoyable enough. Since it is located in the center of the city, I definitely recommend that you visit here when you come here for sightseeing.
hny — Google review
What a fun and cool market! Lots to see and lots to buy 😅 it gets repetitive after a while and not too many things that stand out and are unique but a definite experience you have to do while in La Paz.
Luke — Google review
It was nice to wander through the market. It is not huge, but nobody is hassling to buy something like in other tourist markets.

Also known as El Mercado de las Brujas and La Hechiceria, you can find all sorts of daily knick knacks in the Witches Market. In addition, the market is run by local witch doctors known as yatiri (who usually wear black hats and coca pouches containing amulets, talismans and powders that promise luck, beauty and fertility), who sell potions, dried frogs, medicinal plants like retama, and armadillos used in Bolivian rituals. Fascinating visit

The Valle de la Luna is a beautiful park located in La Paz, Bolivia. The park features stunning rock formations created by the erosion of mountains. The park is well known for its nightlife and is popular among tourists.
This place is AWESOME! Eroded pillars of white Andean mineral in a condensed area with walking trail, hygiene facility, many photographic opportunities, and places to just take in the 360° mountain vista that surrounds La Paz. Reminiscent but different from Bryce hoodoos. Well named "Valley of the moon, because the unique features and especially the white color do make you think of the lunar surface. An easy drive compared to other mountain views.

amazing park with easy, medium and difficult sections to climb. scenes are beyond stunning and worth time for quiet reflection, learning the history of the surrounding valley, it’s people, everything.
Jackie Quander — Google review
Amazing and mesmerizing attraction. Located 10 km from La Paz city. The area is a fascinating geological formation that looks as if it is the surface of the moon. The Valley of the Moon was formed due to erosion and rain wearing away the clay soil upper part of a mountain resulting in this unusual landscape.

The main loop is a short trail and fun to do with family and friends. I visited this location on my second day in La Paz, so I was out of breath many times but this wasn't a significant issue. I just needed to take it slow. The entry fee for me was 15bs (a little over 2 USD). We walked the main loop and were there less than 90 minutes. If you forget to bring water there is a small market across the street. This place beat my expectations and I'd suggest checking it out at least once.
Mark Lewinter — Google review
We absolutely loved it here. One of the most interesting and beautiful places we have been in South America. The only trouble was we had to rush through as we came later in the day. I imagine it just be stunning first thing in the morning.
Chris Taeni — Google review
Visited here in March, 2020. This place is literally like the moon and we can feel we get lost in a different world. It is also worth knowing more in the perspective of geology and this region's long history (even though I have no backgrounds in this field). Those who like these fields would definitely love this moon valley. Personally I think this mysterious valley should be emphasized much more as one of the best sightseeing spots in Bolivia. As for its access, this is a little far from the downtown, taking about 1 hour by bus. The thing is that local people seemingly know that this valley is kind of popular among tourists, and they taught me the right bus stop when strolling around to find it even though I didn't say I wanna go there. Anyhow enjoy your trip here, and be careful about bees (there are a lot).

Fun day trip hike. If you are like me, take your time with the altitude as there are a number of steep stair climbs. The big circuit takes about 45 minutes and there are plenty of places to rest. Very unique rock formations and cityscapes. The price for non-Bolivians was 15 bobs so not cheap yet still affordable. We took an Uber up from La Paz and the man was kind enough to wait for us to finish for the second ride home.

Valle de la Luna, located in the outskirts of La Paz, Bolivia, is a truly unique natural wonder that left me absolutely mesmerized. This natural park is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to the region, and the ticket price of 15 Bob for foreigners is more than worth it. From the moment I arrived at Valle de la Luna, I was struck by the otherworldly beauty of the landscape. The park features an incredible array of rock formations, canyons, and valleys, each of which has been shaped by centuries of natural erosion. The landscape is simply breathtaking, with a mix of earthy tones and vibrant colors that create an otherworldly experience. Walking along the trails in the park was an incredible experience. The rock formations are unique and stunning, and I felt like I was walking on another planet. The natural light that filters through the canyons and valleys creates a play of light and shadow that is simply mesmerizing. Every step I took in Valle de la Luna revealed a new and fascinating landscape that left me in awe. The park is very well maintained and clean, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They provided me with useful information about the history of the park and the rock formations, which helped me appreciate the beauty of the place even more. In summary, Valle de la Luna is a natural wonder that should be on everyone's list of must-see destinations in La Paz. The ticket price of 15 Bob for foreigners is more than reasonable for the incredible experience it provides. If you're looking for a unique and awe-inspiring natural attraction, Valle de la Luna is the perfect destination for you.

Interesting rock formation in the city center Not spectacular like other rock formation sites around the world Can be better maintained as a tourist attraction You can see the La Paz golf course rated as the world highest championship golf course

Very interesting place. Easy to catch a minibus that goes to Mallasa from San Francisco church in center of La paz to here. Takes about 40 minutes and 3 BOB. Valley is beautiful and worth the visit. Entrance fee is 15 Bob. there are two paths to walk. 45 minutes and 15 minutes.

Those are interesting rock formations, maybe not as spectacular as in Ethiopia, China, Egypt or Jordan and covering rather a small area but still an amazing place to visit in La Paz if you have a couple of hours to spare.

Worth the visit but a bit tricky to get to - definitely take the long route and little outcrops. Shooting practice across The Valley added an eerie feel.

Amazing place to visit in La Paz. It’s super close from our place so we went there by foot only. The view is so nice, you need to pay 15 bolivianos as tourist and 3 bolivianos for locals.
Elle L — Google review
What has happened over the countless centuries when strong winds have battered the clay and sandstone mountains is that you now have a wonderful natural phenomenon which looks like a vast tapestry of stalagmites called “VALLE DE LA LUNA” or the Valley of the Moon. This is quite typical of the mountains surrounding the La Paz region. Valley of the Moon is about 20 to 30 minute drive from La Paz near the small town of Mallasa. The entry ticket is 15BOB for foreigners and 3BOB for locals. A trail takes you into the valley and along the formations. Like any trail over natural terrain it is uneven and narrow at places but many spots to sit and enjoy the beauty and take photos as well. It can take about an hour to two hours to walk the entire trail and take in the fascinating natural wonder. In 1969 Neil Armstrong, the man who walked on the moon, while playing golf at a nearby golf course saw this formation and it reminded him of what he saw on the moon and hence the name - Valley of the Moon. Special note:- While walking on the trails, please talk in low voices as the sound carries and gets amplified in narrow surroundings.

Selina La Paz is a hip hostel with free Wi-Fi and an eclectic restaurant. It is well known for its welcoming atmosphere and great value for digital nomads. The hostel is located in the popular Sopocachi district, close to some of the city's best sights.
I stayed here for 1 night and The hostel is really amazing for The price. Breakfast, Coffee, food and sweets are beyond great. Also, they have all kind of activities in the evening. Highly recommend!

We had big expectations but unfortunately there were a few things that didn’t make our stay that great: on Saturday night you can’t sleep because of the very loud music coming from the disco beneath the hostel, they leave the kitchen door open so the whole building smells to fried fries, the carpet in our room was full of stains and felt dirty, the quality of the food in the cafe is super good but they forgot our order on both mornings that we had breakfast here. However, beds are comfy and location is good.

We stayed two nights in a private room at Selina La Paz and have no complaints. The staff were friendly and helpful. The shower had good hot water and water pressure. The cafe/restaurant downstairs did amazing food and coffee! We ended up having a couple meals there. We would recommend Selina La Paz and stay there again.

Good location, very friendly staff and very nice concierge service of booking tours and activities with their nice partners. (Recommend the death road with barracuda and the walking tours with Red Cap). We arrived there on December 24 and could join their Christmas Eve dinner which was very nice. The room itself is quite nice and very comfortable bed and nice linen however the towels they provided to us were tearing apart - the issue is the toilet. Very old, needs a renovation as soon as possible. There was a strong smell coming from the shower drain. Talking about smell - We were staying in the 3rd floor and there was always a very strong smell in the hallways which probably came from the restaurant kitchen. Quite unpleasant. We had breakfast included and it was very good!!! They also provided us a lunch box for the day we did a tour that left early in the morning.

+ Fast WiFi + Free salsa classes on Thursdays + Clean room + Cool interior design - Loud, Street facing - Expensive mediocre food in restaurant - Breakfast not worth it, no options. They had no milk for the coffee - Doors were so loud that you could not go out or into the bathroom without waking everybody up

We had a great stay at Selina in La Paz. Location was really good. Slightly away from the bustle of the witches market area but still a short walk. The area Selina is in felt super safe even at night. We got a private room and it was lovely. Extremely comfortable bed. Got 9-10 hours of sleep every night we stayed. We also met a tonne of interesting and friendly people at this hostel. The common areas were always buzzing. This is definitely the place to stay in La Paz if you want to meet other travellers.

We used this hostel as a return point for our travels around Bolivia. As a result, we had 3 separate reservations booked with them in advance. Upon arrival, we paid for the 3 reservations on the spot, for simplicity, not to get any sort of deal or anything but so that we did not have to pay each time we returned. We were 3 people, we booked a 4 person room. The rooms were OK, nothing great but nothing terrible. Each room had its issue. To be honest paying the prices we did for more of a hotel hostel than a hostel, the quality should have been better. The best part of the hostel, is the cafe. The team and food are amazing. The actual hostel team, is a different case. We experienced a sudden tragic loss of our dear friend, in the Amazon. A result of that, our party went from 3 to 2. We did not expect a refund to our current reservation when we came back from the Amazon, but the future 2, since we were well within the cancelation period, we thought we could change to a smaller room. They refused to do anything because we paid for all the nights on arrival. Given the circumstances you would have thought they would have helped us out. I am in hospitality and if a guest of mine came back to me to say that one of their party passed away, I would be doing anything and everything I could for them. They did not. In addition, when we arrived back, they went so far as to let us know if we wanted to check in early, they could down grade us to a 2 person room, which was ready, but without a refund. Do not book any tours with them. They upcharge everything and miss lead you on the information. As travelers, you rely on the guidance of the hostel team, so while you expect a small upcharge you also expect them to offer honest advice and guidance. This hostel does not do that. So overall, I would not recommend this place. If budget is something you are working with, there are other places much cheaper. If service is what you are looking for, this is not the place. If you do not care about either, and are happy with location and having access to great food, this would be a great stop for you! To know this is about a 20 minute uphill walk to the Witches Market, which is not bad for some, but for those with altitude issues it can pose a bit of an issue initially.

This hostel is amazing! The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfy. The staff is the absolute best, because when I was on the nightbus to Uyuni, I've found out that my headphones were still in the hostel. The staff was so kind to ship it to my next destination which was Sucre. So glad I'm reunited with them now! I will take more nightbuses for sure so headphones are pretty important to me hahah.Thank you very much! 🙌

I'm staying at the Selina and this morning I was woken up at 4 am by the receptionist and a security guard. They got me out of bed and made me show my room key and guest card as apparently in their system the room should be empty. Well, I was in the right room and I was taken out of bed without any need. It was very unpleasant and I had a terrible sleep after that. I wonder why they couldn't wait until later to settle the matter. So now I went to the reception to negotiate some kind of compensation for the unpleasant situation they had put me through, I suggested a complimentary breakfast (it costs about U$4.50). But they basically replied that they didn't care about the situation and that I could complain wherever I wanted. So here I am! Selina is not a cheap hostel, so you're expected to at least be treated well, which was not the case. Before this happened, I would easily give it five stars, as it is comfortable, safe, clean. But the way they treated me wasn't fair, they treated me like I was doing something wrong, when in fact it was their mistake. Choose a place that cares about your well-being!
Vinicius Vitorino — Google review
I stayed here 3 times over the course of 2 weeks in Bolivia in a private room and I really enjoyed my stay. When I experienced altitude sickness, the staff were so helpful. The food at the cafe was delicious. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. And they offered several tour options. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and it was in a safe location. Paula and Sabrina were staff members that stood out and were so friendly! Would stay again if I return to La Paz!
Megan Arabian — Google review
A standard Selina location with reliable and abundant amenities for a slightly higher-than-average rate. The staff was warm and helpful, the beds were comfortable, and the location was central enough to be within a 15-20-minute walk from the main attractions. My main takeaway was that the cleanliness was a bit lacking at times and the showers repeatedly flooded the ensuite bathrooms.
Allyssa Leaton — Google review
I stayed in Selina for a week. While the location and facilities are good, the staff is not very interactive. I tried contacting the event manager for several days, but she did not even bother to reply. So if you are looking for good stay go for it, but if your looking for collaboration, i would not recommend.
Sandeep Ganesh — Google review
Highly recommend the deluxe rooms - large, clean and bright rooms with a brilliant shower - strong pressure and gets really warm. We loved the breakfast here, you can choose between their breakfast deals or the a la carte - our favourite was the smoothie bowl which we went back for over and over again. The coffee was one of the best we’ve had on our trip - love the cortado. Soya milk and lactose free also available 😊
S S — Google review
Selinas are well known hostels, that are all over the world. We have been in much better ones, than the one in la Paz though. The rooms were clean, but the shower was super small in the private rooms. The service was okay, but nothing special. The food was good (especially the Avocado Sandwich).
Sara Ritz — Google review
We checked in just to be put in an incorrect room. Rather than the double bedroom we booked, we got placed in a dorm room with 4 single beds. The room had a distinct smell of damp. When flagged to the receptionist, we were challenged quite hard that it was in fact a private room because nobody else would be sleeping there. The rooms are listed at different prices online, which we mentioned, however just replied that in fact they are the same price and nothing would be done. I have no problem with staying in the room, although we were assured while booking it would be a double room (which is much nicer). The receptionist dismissed us on a not so friendly way and made me feel as if I was suggesting something totally incorrect. Unfortunate because we were looking forward to our stay!
Joe Brown — Google review
We didn’t stay at the hostel but we went to the cafe to eat. I got served raw chicken, they apologised and then said they would replace it. 40 mins later we went to check on it and they had forgotten and tried to serve us a chicken salad that had been sat in the food shaft for ages- it was stone cold and completely dry. We asked for our money back which they were reluctant to give. Then argued with us for the amount they had returned, when they didn’t give us the right amount. The outdoor seating area is not great- old food on the floor and foul smell. Inattentive service and very average food

At first glance, La Paz in Bolivia may appear as a large, unattractive and polluted city. However, upon spending more time there, one will come to understand that it truly is a bustling metropolis with an unconventional charm. Instead of utilizing bins, the locals simply leave their garbage bags on the streets for dogs to scavenge through – a practice not uncommon in other parts of Peru and Ecuador.

Church
The Basilica of Saint Francis is an impressive 18th-century Catholic church located in the center of La Paz, Bolivia. It stands out for its remarkable Spanish-colonial architecture and intricately carved facade. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from the rooftop and explore the monastery gardens. A museum adjacent to the church requires an entrance fee, which can be combined with the church visit. Guided tours are available and typically take around one hour.
No ticket required to enter to the church. There are daily services, three or four times a day. No photos are allowed inside the church. Very unique for this 1500s built church

Church of San Francisco de La Paz, is located on Av. Mcal Santa Cruz esq. Sagarnaga, mestizo baroque style, construction start 1774. The interior has a floor plan of three naves with a rectangular apse, covered with a central barrel vault, and side domes. The dome of the transept, with four windows, exhibits a delicate decoration that is especially enriched in the pendentives. The central portal, built around 1790, is divided into two bodies and three streets. And the crown a small finish also splendidly carved. A trilobed arch gives access to the inside of the enclosureIt. Is decorated by eight large Solomonic columns distributed equally in high and low art. The lower ones rest on monstrous heads, in the spandrels there are dolphin heads and in the upper part mermaids linked by the waist, the side covers have Indian faces, with the head touched with headband and feathers.

South American restaurant
If you're in La Paz and want to experience some of the best international cuisine, Gustu should be at the top of your list. This restaurant was created by Claus Meyer, a highly acclaimed chef from Denmark, and uses unique native ingredients to create mouth-watering flavors. Head chef Kamilla Seidler has won accolades for her culinary skills all over South America, so you can be sure that you'll enjoy every dish here.
An absolute can't miss while you're in La Paz! Definitely go for the full 8-course. You won't be disappointed. Portions seem small, but by the end you have absolutely no room left in your stomach, and you are perfectly satisfied. All of the flavors played off each other in an insane party in your mouth. Nothing was ever too much, and all the dishes complemented each other. The service is above impeccable, and the staff super friendly. You feel comfortable and welcome. Every dish has an explanation, and we were grateful for the English that was spoken so we could get a more thorough understanding of the dishes. This isn't just a meal, it's an experience.

The food and presentation was incredible. My palette was surprised by a lot of new tastes and interesting textures! And it’s relatively cheap for a gourmet experience compared to similar concepts. Service was fast and attentive, but at times maybe too fast? I often hadn’t swallowed my last bite before my plate was off the table. The waiters are also not fluent in English, so at times we were not sure what we were eating. We had the wine pairing (300 Bob). The wines are ok, but I think in retrospect we would have preferred drinks.

Cannot overstate how great this place is. Came in for a 8 course menu for lunch and the food was beyond great - easily among the top restaurants I have ever been: Top notch attention to detail, well balanced courses, lots of history behind each dish and both interesting in taste/texture as well as super delicious. Came with super attentive staff and a refreshing lack of pretentiousness.

There are multiple reasons you need to come here. They are serious about the food, the service is impeccable, and the food is seriously delicious. In fact it was the best meal of my life, and the fact that my vegetarian tasting was more than accommodated for made me so thankful. Each dish is lovingly prepared, plated, and exquisite. A special "GRACIAS" to Maria Georgina who was incredibly kind and helpful in answering our questions. Muchas gracias to the whole Gustu team for a spectacular evening!

I had high expectations and it was definitely worth visiting. We had a three-course menu and everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Besides that, the service is excellent - every time a dish would come, the waiters would give a detailed explanation of the dish and sometimes even bring the fruit/nut to show us how it is. The cocktails were also really good. Would definitely recommend Gustu for anyone who’s looking for a Bolivian fine-dining experience.

Exceptional. The flavors were like nothing we have experienced before, not in South America or anywhere else. Beautiful use of local ingredients. Even the butter accompanying the home made bread was heavenly. The place has a very nice open kitchen and all the staff wear the same uniform, from waiters to head chef, making the place feel down to earth although it is clearly a gourmet restaurant. We asked to meet the chef to compliment her, she was very humble and even recommend us a few restaurants in Quito which was our next destination. I can’t recommend this place enough.

This is a wonderful, one-of-a-kind restaurant. I highly recommend anyone who visits La paz to eat at this restaurant. The food, and the experience is worth every penny. The restaurant has a wonderful vibe and excellent staff. You should get one of the multi course meals it is truly an experience, and you will not regret anything. You will eat everything from Amazon shark to vegetables from the rainforest.

Definitely recommend coming here! Every dish was amazing and very well prepared. The service was great and most of the staff spoke very well English. The open kitchen layout is great as you can see all the chefs in action The prices are extremely fair for this type of restaurant. If your looking for an upscale restaurant this is it!

We have loved the concept, purpose and the story behind. Especially the way of working with young culinary talents. Our tasting menu was compound of local ingredients from different corners of Bolivia and it perfectly represented variety and nature wealth of the country. We agreed that the most outstanding meal was the crocodile. The team could be proud of the work they do.
Adam Hrivnak — Google review
A great experience. The food was delicious and great interpretations of local cuisine which are all accompanied by amazing service and story explaining each dish. We did the tasting menu and have to admit that given some of the different restaurants we have eaten around the world this was excellent value given the quality of the food. It’s a definite place you have to try while in La Paz. Book ahead!!

If you into fine dining this is the place to go. This was my sixteenth fine dining experience and the tasting menue with the drink pairing was outstanding. You should go for it, every course was tasty which you get rarely. The service was friendly attentive and fast. I already looking forward to come back here. Unfortunately it will be likely only in a year. I wish it would be sooner. Thanks to the Chef and Gustu Team.

The team runs a slick service from online booking, checking in and ordering - they were very professional. All the food were very well presented and explained. The use of local ingredients were defintiely a plus. All staff spoke English and were very friendly. The restaurant actually closes later than 8:30pm, not like Google suggested. I think they want guests to be seated before then. It was around 200B per person for a 3 course meal with a glass of wine.
Kenny Tang — Google review
The food and service were exceptional. The sustainable idea and the collaboration with local suppliers of meat, vegetables, etc. make all these dishes very special. The perfect wine was served to accompany each course. If you are interested in exceptional Bolivian cuisine combined with a lot of tradition, then this is the place to go. Highly recommended!

Flawless service! Our servers explained every single dish in the tasting menu in detail. The food was outstanding, an elaborate menu that took us on a journey through Bolivia. Definitely worth the visit!
Laura Elisa — Google review
We came with high expectations and Gustu did not disappoint! First of all, the interiors are beautiful - love the high ceilings and colorful yet simple decor. We decided to forego the 8 course menu and ordered a la carte instead - sharing three starters (llama, tubers, trout) and all four mains (corn, fish, pork, lamb). Every dish is very creative, rich in flavour and technically impressive. I prefer simple flavours so some dishes were too complex/strong for me (such as the fermented corn) but I can certainly appreciate the passion and skill behind what we ate! I enjoyed seeing the chefs at work in the kitchen as well. Portions may not look that big but all five of us were stuffed after dessert - the popcorn and chocolate, and tumbo. Service is extremely attentive and friendly, and not snobby for such a high end restaurant. They immediately shared the wifi information with us after we were seated, are quick to refill our water and fold our napkins if we step away from the table, and offered to help us get a taxi after our meal as well. Worthy of a visit if you’re in La Paz - make a reservation and come with an open mind and palate!

Vegetarian restaurant
Ali Pacha is a vegan fine dining restaurant in the center of La Paz that is doing food better than anyone else in South America right now. The dishes are delicious and unique, combining different vegan ingredients to create an amazing menu of degustation.
Amazing veggie food! Super nice location and staff. Great value for money!

Wow - what a great experience. The staff were great, the food (which is a surprise) was some of the best I've had in a long time. For the quality of the food, the experience it was great value for money
Connie Colgan — Google review
Fully vegetarian restaurant with a set menu and drink pairing. Food options with 3-5-7 courses menu and drink options of 5-7 pairing to food. We had 5 courses paired with 5 drinks and it was very interesting how the food elevated the flavour of the drinks!
Pavinee Gaffney — Google review
Well thought through dishes that keep you guessing about flavours. The textures were also an interesting blend. There needs to be more exclusive vegan fine dining experiences like this in the world. Highly recommend to vegans and non vegans alike! You’ll leave satisfied and curious for more

Lovely space, good coffee, and nice service.

We selected the Regular menu (5-course) and it was all delicious - tasty plant based food with local ingredients. Every dish is a surprise based on the chef inspirations. In between courses they also bring different types of bread with dips - also very tasty. My favorite dishes were the aubergine dish with almond and almond cheese & the coconut gelato with tamarindo sauce. We also tried their singani cocktail and it was also spot on.

Excellent vegan fine dining. A similar experience in London or New York would be 3x the price. Local ingredients, creative presentation and wonderful service. Also really cool to see an all female kitchen/ staff crushing it!
Kristin Marschhauser — Google review
Superb, loved the service and the food was spot on exotic, the only thing I didnt like was that the kitchen exhaust was turned off, making me smell of fried oil afterwards, and the price of drinks is too high.
Thomas Diersche — Google review
Really good vegan food in what is arguably the best decor/atmosphere in La Paz. The service is ok for a high end restaurant, but the portions could definitely be a little larger. The alcohol pairing in particular is really bad value for money, and you'll be much better off ordering one or two good bottles. Overall, a great experience, but not to the level required to justify the extremely expensive price tag.
Xavier Danaux — Google review
I enter this place without knowing it was a gastronomic restaurant. Amazing surprise ! The food used typical ingredient of Bolivia, in an delicat way. The service is perfect. And the "Short menu" at 100BOB is already enought to be amased. Thank you 🥰

Amazing vegan food. So nice to find this gem in the city of La Paz. The tasty vegan food was perfectly prepared, presented and served. Each dish complimented the one before it. It is clear that each plate is prepared with love and care. So, so good - even my non-vegan daughter loved the meal. It was our favorite of our many good meals in La Paz.
Pamela Mackey — Google review
Great food, beautifully presented. Okay service, but lacking in atmosphere despite the chatacter of the room. They need to improve on their wine supply as they didn't have most of the wines on their wine list.
Martin & Louise Rattray — Google review
This was not what I was expecting. It was more. I just did a Google Maps search for something with some greens, as traditional foods in these parts are heavy on the breads, meats, and fried much of everything else. What I found was a concept that is perfect for someone like me: I eat everything and get bored quickly with the same stuff. So having someone else choose for me is perfect. The quality and inventiveness was rewarding -- it's truly fine dining without the pretense -- but I enjoyed the process of having the chefs bring their menu out, one by one, one after the other. Karina was the bravest in her willingness to serve in English, as my culinary Spanish diction is pretty limited to TexMex classics. What's more the staff is uniformly professional and handsome. The open kitchen means you can see all the several hands going into making your dinners and they present it with pride. Ali Pacha might be outside the daily budget for some budget travelers in La Paz, but if you make a few concessions elsewhere during your stay to save up about 200BOB (US$30), you'll have a culinary experience you can take home with you to challenge Bolivia stereotypes.
Thomas J Gallagher — Google review
Always a unique experience. The ingredients are often familiar but prepared in ways few have ever experienced. It’s a great restaurant. Vegetarian and vegan foodies, in particular. will love it here. I highly recommend the paired non-alcoholic drinks as well.
Alan Schultz — Google review
One of the highlights of La Paz. Delicious combinations and a great way to know more about Bolivian food and its vegetables. The only con is that I ended up hungry, even in the 8 plates experience.
Michael Cerqueira — Google review
If you don't know what you are looking for you might miss this restaurant located in a barely noticeable old building in La Paz historic centre. A friend recommended it and we went in NOT knowing it is a vegan place. But that doesn't mean you wont leave satisfied trying veggies prepared creatively. The menu is set and changes constantly s you will find a different menu. we got the 9-course meal and we left satisfied but kind of wishing there was some animal protein. They also offer creative drinks made with juices to which you can add alcohol for a yummy cocktail. It is more expensive than other restaurants at around $60.00 us per person.

One word: delicious! We payed 200 bob per person for the regular menu, which included two amuses and five dishes.

I made a reservation to have lunch today at this restaurant. I made the reservation way ahead of time and I specifically requested a table outside, not once, but three times, due to COVID-19 concerns. The man taking the reservation said there was no problem and confirmed that we would have a table for 4 at 12pm outside. When we arrived there, a man behind the counter instructed the waiter to take us inside. I told him our reservation was for an outside table. The man behind the counter very rudely told me that there were no tables outside for us and we had to sit inside. I told him we already had a reservation, which they confirmed, for an outside table and we did not want to sit inside. He just said he could not sit us outside, did not even apologize and was extremely rude during this whole interaction. We decided to leave. When we left the restaurant, one of the people in my group mentioned that this had happened to them previously, and that the owner apparently makes reservations and then just decides to cancel them without giving any notice, in order to fit his friends, known customers or bigger groups. Although this is a popular restaurant, the way they treat some of their customers is appalling and needless to say I would not go back there or recommend this place to anyone.

Incredible food! You won’t be disappointed. The atmosphere and staff is also wonderful.
Leonora Pallotta — Google review
The restaurant is located on a quiet, safe street. The place is clean and the staff is attentive. They give you complimentary fresh bread and butter+2 types of sauce as well as some tiny delish empanadas. The place is clean and spacious. We stayed outside and it was great. Shade with the umbrellas. The soup plates are very, very, very big. 2 or 3 people can definitely share a soup. The tiramisu was delicious but it was not the classic one, it had a lot of tasty strawberries. The pisco sour was indeed sour and one of the best I've had ( if you like sour) . My friend had trucha and she liked it a lot. Thia restaurant has some good quality Peruvian food.

Super tasty true Bolivian food (I got the queso humacha), with sizeable portions. Atmosphere and service were great!
Erin Conlon — Google review
The place is very pretty, and the staff super nice, patient and helping. The food is decent but not really worth the price. They don't have too many options and the day we went that had run out of three of the things we wanted to order... The dishes I tasted were pretty good, but i wouldn't say they were the best I've had.

Coffee shop
This coffee shop is a great place to relax and get your caffeine fix. They have a wide variety of iced coffees, as well as hand-brewed coffee and espresso. They also serve up some delicious charcuterie (llama meat and salami). If you're looking for something more filling, they have a variety of plates that feature Andean ingredients.
The coffee and the food was amazing here! We sat my a candlelight and enjoyed cocktails. The service here was fantastic, very polite staff and very welcoming. The hygiene practices are also immaculate and we appreciated that after coming out of the pandemic.

Good place for some quality food here in La Paz. Although very expensive for Bolivia. The food was a little bit over the top and i would rather prefer a simpler menu! Still good though! The coffee was also very good, probably the best in La Paz!

The food was incredible with a very high level of attention and detail. Jorge was serving us and explained the process of the coffee curation as well as the food and how each ingredient of the meal complimented each other.
Jay Giltrow — Google review
The cafe had a very beautiful interior but the staff was (at first) unfriendly and unaccomodating. (There was a free table where I sat down and I was moved around because of the spatial distribution of the tables...to make room for other guests.) Prices are high. Addendum: I have to add that they excused for moving me...with a glass of sparkling wine... don't know if that was because they read this review or because they genuinely felt it... anyways nice!

My first stop in La Paz and it couldn’t be better. Hb Bronze Coffeebar offers a great menue with a perfect mix of old school dishes and new fancy variations. I was curious so I took the sandwich with beef tongue and pickled carrots. Didn’t know what to expect, but it was surprisingly delicious. Wow. Never had anything like that before. Great choice and great atmosphere too.

Atmosphere is lovely here - very well done interior. Service is pleasant but a little on the slow side for a cafe. For the price of the coffee, it was subpar. I’d recommend elsewhere to find a high quality coffee for the same or lesser price.

Attended for lunch and had the chicken sandwich and the pesto sandwich. The chicken sandwich was so good, very tender and the bread was delicious. The pesto sandwich was nice but a touch greasy. The ice tea was incredible. The service was fantastic and the place is beautiful. The frappe was good, not the best but good. The prices are quite high for the city but it is a really nice place.

There’s one word for this place EXCELLENT. I visit the place with a recommendation of one of my friend and I thank to her for this experience. Decent place, well designed, warm and cool staff and their menu with the quality of the products it’s one word EXCELLENT. Cold brew Bolivian distilled coffee absolutely you have to try. Thanks to all team.

Amazing Food! This afternoon we did a lunch here. The place is nicely decorated and very cozy. The staff explains the option and the multiple coffees they have there. I took the award winning coffee of 2022, and before he made it, they first brought the coffeegrounds to the table to let them smell. The waiter told the story of the yearly award and were the coffee came from. And already from the smell, I could tell that I was up for a treat. We also ordered the Avocado Sandwich and a Cheesecake. The flavours were absolutely incredible. Yes you pay something more than other places in Bolivia, but you get so much in return for that.

Ahijada Ajiceria is a Bolivian fine-dining restaurant that offers an exotic taste of the country's traditional cuisine. The chefs here use only Bolivian spices and ingredients to create dishes with a unique flavor. You can find appetizers like trout with chili, as well as full meals such as rice and beans.
It is our favorite Lunch place in La paz. 70bs for Set menu And they change menu each 2 weeks. They only open for lunch from 12:30 noon to 2:30pm. We tried ox tongue, trout, Pork. Their fish is sooooo delicious, they even took the fish bone, And Pork is just so juicy and soft. Well presented with all the local Bolivian ingredients. Highly recommend this place. Personal opinion, it is better than the 3rd best restaurant call " Bolivian Popular Food" ranked by trip advisor. Last visit that restaurant the main meat dish not as good as Ahijada just looks good. But Ahijada not just looks good but taste even better.

The food is delicious. Have been here a few times already. The food tastes as good as it looks. And you can feel safe eating there ( unfortunately you cannot say the same of all restaurants in LaPaz. They have an open kitchen so you can see how they prep the food. You can tell they are very passionate about what they do. It’s a new place so they have been working out the kinks but overall a great experience. And the place is nice , not too formal but not super casual either. Nice decor. I hope they start opening for dinner.
