Park
Vale da Lua is a natural tourist attraction located in Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, Brazil. The area features stunning rock formations sculpted by water, including waterfalls and swimming holes. Additionally, there are wells, caves and crevices to explore. The landscape resembles that of a moon with canyons and pools surrounded by incredible rocks. It's important to take caution when visiting as the zone is subject to sudden floods.
40 real for entrance in low season, but only pix or cash . Pretty short trail but very interesting and unusual. It is really like the moon surface

What a beautiful nature 😍 really I enjoyed lots

This place is very unique and strongly recommended for a special experience. This is so different from most places I've seen! The rock formation, the color, and the scenery are breathtaking! 40 reas to enter! Hitchhiking is very easy in this city, even from Alto Paraiso. It took me 5 min to hop in a ride as there is no bus transportation (i heard of one but everyone Hitchhikes). Taxi can be costly there. Every fall cost 40 reas, including the 3 or 4 miradors. So, be ready to spend to access these places. I preferred Salto Curumbo (south of Brasilia as it had 5 amazing waterfalls, a waterpark, and 3 swimming pool for 65 reas). See and follow my other reviews for pics.

What an amazing place. Not a super hard hike but please listen to the guides and lifeguards. This place can get dangerous if you are not careful
Jessica Pelegio — Google review
Crazy moon landscape with canyons, pools and unbelievable rocks. Be careful of the weather because the zone is subjected to sudden and violent floods. Trust local people indication and respect the limits. Enjoy and wander in this wonderful place!

Why go to the Moon when we have it here in Brasil 🇧🇷? This place is stunning and very unique, never before had i seen anything like it.

Small, but pretty place with peculiar rock formations and a river that forms nice baths. Mild trails present a beginner level tracking challenge making the visit suitable for children as well as adults.
Daniel Ribeiro — Google review
One of the best quick trips in the region: amazing view, unusual geography, car park quite close to the entrance, great for a swim further down. Could be done in half a day. Easy trail - could be done by elderly (as long as they're minimally fit), children, people with a hangover.
Meg Vicentine — Google review
Interesting place. the Natural pool in the end is refreshing. No protection to fall off.

A bit crowded but such an unique visual! Also easy to reach comparing to other waterfalls and places around.

Mirante da Janela is a must-visit trail in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, offering an incredible hiking experience. The route, starting at Mirante da Estrela, takes hikers through diverse landscapes including slopes, scrubland, stairs, and streams before reaching the iconic Mirante da Janela with its breathtaking views. A fee is required for entry, and having a local guide enhances the experience.
There is free parking at the trailhead. After around 10 min walking you will reach the gate where you pay R$40 for entrance. Credit card is not accepted. Only Pix or Cash. If you enter after 2pm a guide is required. The weather is pretty hot during the day, so bring enough water. The trail is well maintained and the view on the top is spectacular. You get a panoramic view of the valley and waterfalls. Personally I think this is the best trail in this national park. Also the sunset is very nice. So suggest you go in the afternoon and stay until the sunset. If you don't want to stay too late at the mirante, cachoeira-abismo at 1.8km is also a good point to view the sunset (that was where I did it)
Meng Li — Google review
Spectacular falls, I think the dry season made it more special. Challenging trek to the viewpoint and a stunning sunset to finish it off. <Chef’s Kiss>

definitely a to do when you are at Chapada dos Veadeiros. Parking lot available around 3km from the town. Nice hike, med level I would say. Awesome viewpoint, nice nature around and a waterfall on the way to have a swim

If y are prepared for one of the more difficult tours which will take y about one hour and 30min each direction but compensates with an really breathtaking view y have to go there.

Place with a beautiful view of waterfalls and a nice place to mind relaxing. The place has a little waterfall called "Abyss waterfall" but it's available only in rain station.

Best view I've ever seen in the Chapada dos Veadeiros. The track is a little bit hard due to the inclination, but the view totally pays off all the effort. The round trip took me 2h30 and the guy at the entrance, where you have to pay 15 reais, is really sweet and always offers you coffee and water.

Nature & Parks
Parque Nacional da Chapada dos Veadeiros is an awe-inspiring national park situated on a high plateau that boasts of billion-year-old rocks and the remnants of early mining cultures. Encompassing 650 sq km, it offers a unique landscape with diverse flora typical to high-altitude cerrado. The park houses natural wonders like waterfalls, canyons, swimming pools, and stands of wine palms.
Amazing place! Gorgeous natural beauty, perfect for those who love waterfall, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors. The trails are well organized with arrows guiding you through the different paths. The entry is free, but you need to get there early before it reaches the maximum visitor allowed capacity.
William Morais — Google review
What to say about this place? It is certainly one of the most beautiful I have ever visited. Well-marked trails, adequate guidance at the entrance, possibility to buy the ticket online and, combined with the exuberant and preserved nature of the cerrado. We only did the yellow trail and we loved the landscapes on that path: Salto do Rio Preto, Cachoeira do Garimpão, the carousel and the rapids. Gorgeous gorgeous! You need a little preparation for the difficult sections, such as steep climbs and descents. I will certainly come back to do the other trails. I loved the Park!
Arturo Gomez — Google review
We arrived in the afternoon so had to take the over priced minibus to the start of the walk. But it was worth it because the scenery is gob smacking. Went on the yellow walk to the big waterfall and then the shorter walk through the canyon. It was supposed to be 1km but felt much longer but great observation deck on the way with incredible views and a beautiful small beach at the end for a dip, then just a couple of hundred yards on a boardwalk back to the bus pick up which arrived on time to get us. Small shop at the bus stop for water and snacks. Take more water than you think you will need, at least 2 litres per person, especially if it's hot. Climb up and down to the waterfall was a little hard in the heat but plenty of places to stop to catch your breath. By far the most impressive scenery in the area. Went on canyon walk the next day. A much easier walk but much less impressive scenery.

We visited the park in October and took the Saltos trail. Overall the experience was great. When on the 80 m fall - unless you have vertigo - make sure to walk down to check the view of the 120 m fall from the top! Stunning! The complete trail has 11 km and we did it in under 6 hours. Some bits are hard work so take your time on the falls. Don’t forget food and water (and refil it on the falls)!
Cristiana Roviralta Dias Baptista — Google review
Amazing hikes views and waterfalls! This ppace is so entertaining especially if you're from the northern hemisphere, new plants and species you'd never encounter. I'm just sorry I couldn't spend more than 3 days there, we didn't have time time to see nearly enough. I'm definitely coming back.

Santo Cerrado Risoteria e Café is an unexpected gem nestled in the cerrado, offering a delightful dining experience. Despite specializing in risotto, the dishes are described as delicious and accompanied by great cocktails. The stylish ambiance and bonfire create a charming atmosphere for visitors to enjoy. Located in Sao Jorge, it offers various risotto options and a choice of wines, making it worth the visit despite its slightly steep prices.
Risotto is something my family truly appreciates. The richness of flavor and the generous portion compelled us to come back not only once but twice while we were there!

We’ve ordered a bruschetta and a mushroom risotto. Both were very yummy! The restaurant is also giving a beautiful atmosphere. The waiting time for the food was a bit long.
Anastasia Br — Google review
We ordered tomato bruschetta as a starter as we were really hungry but it didn't arrive in about 1.5 hrs so we cancelled it. They still tried to charge us for it... The mushroom risotto took 2 hours to arrive. It was ok, nothing special. The restaurant itself looked pretty at night time. To summarise: a poorly managed restaurant with ok food but definitely not worth the price or long waiting time.
Urban Angel — Google review
The food here is very tasty. The ambience is excellent with live music and a great feel. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is our server was terrible, he got our water order wrong, we had to ask him to bring the wine we ordered and then he cleared our table after being told explicitly that we would be back. To the restaurants credit they gave us another bottle of wine to replace what we lost. All in all I would recommend because the quality of food was superb.
James — Google review
Not initially welcoming to solo diners, as their risotto dishes are for two people and I was told they could not adapt for one person. I asked twice to check this with the duty manager who was very nice and said they could indeed serve a risotto for one person at 70% of the price for two. São Paulo prices.
Alistair Clark — Google review
One of the best risotto I've ever tried. Amazing place and atmosphere. Live music. Decent service. Pequi risotto with mango chutney was somehow really special.
Alexandre Bolzon — Google review
Very nice ambience found located at the charming town of São Jorge, 30mins from Alto Do Paraíso. Nice risoto options ranging from classic Milanese to more Brazillian renditions and choice of wines. The price is a little steep for a rustic dinner get away, but it's worth the visit.
Daniel Ribeiro — Google review
Just go here. This is the kind of place that has absolutely no business being there, in the middle of the cerrado. But it is, so you should have dinner there. Even if you’re staying in Alto Paraíso and you’re tired after a day’s trekking. Bad news: they only do risotto. Good news: it’s delicious risotto. And they do great cocktails. And they have a bonfire (you should get there early and sit by the bonfire). And the whole place is just really stylish. And why are you still reading this? Your taxi’s here, go!

The average price for their must-try dishes like risottos is around R$35 and lasagnas at R$29 each, with various flavors and combinations available.

I’ve ordered an spaghetti al funghi and they served me a noodle pasta with a good sauce but not spaghetti. I didn’t complaint as I thought it would be beyond their understanding. Good wine choice.

Went there several times while in Alto Paraíso as it has many vegan options. Food was good but when they don't have the daily plate you're left with Pizza, Sandwich and other snack like food which isn't what I'm looking for in a good restaurant.

Great food! A must go in Alto Paraíso! Totally recommend it.
Carla Oliva — Google review
Delicious food, sweet place, friendly staff. Really interesting menu and prices are reasonable. The burgers and the vegan chocolate torte were delicious. Only loses five stars because of the eco-unconsciousness of having plastic sauce sachets instead of bottles. Not seen these in a place like this for years. Other than that amazing. Thanks guys!

As long as you're prepared to wait (this is Brazil, after all) and especially if you go for the meal of the day, Cravo e Canela is the perfect lunch/dinner experience. I have rarely eaten vegan food that was this delicious (try it even if you eat meat elsewhere!). The place itself is quite cozy and you even have wifi over there. Plus the milkshakes are to die for. Super!
Samaa Mieltä — Google review
I really liked the space..., a green, chill garden supporting this way the concept of the restaurant as natural and healthy. The food was really good, the burger is big and satisfying. I went there two times in my trip, but the sunday, the time for waiting was a little bit big, like 45min.

Pizza restaurant
Vila Chamego is a popular dining spot in Alto Paraiso, known for its delicious pizzas and inviting atmosphere. The thin-crust pizzas topped with homemade tomato sauce have been a favorite in the Chapada dos Veadeiros region for years. Although it was closed for renovations during one visit, the anticipation to try their renowned dishes was palpable. Tucked away from the main area, this outdoor establishment offers a cozy ambiance where patrons can savor their flavorful pizzas even on chilly evenings.
This was a great little place. Tucked away, parallel to the main drag, we visited on a winter’s evening in late June. The whole place is outdoors, more or less, so customers in fleeces and woolly hats made swift work of their pizzas before they got cold. That’s not tough to do, as the pizzas were great, not too heavy on the cheese either, which is the usual Brazilian style. There was a guy playing guitar, too, which along with the kids playing football (sure it was next to a brazier, but hey it’s Brazil) really added to the atmosphere. A great option for dinner in a town with few. Looks like they deliver, too.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful atmosphere, very well balanced between rustic and charming, where pizza is traditionally eaten with your hands. Live music makes the atmosphere ideal for couples, with excellent service, although a little slow, but at a fair price. The only negative factor is the owners' insistence on saying that the pizza in the house's gas oven is better than that from a wood-fired oven, really a shame.
