Cayenne

Cayenne is the capital of French Guiana, on the northeast coast of South America. Its 17th-century old town district blends influences from France, the Caribbean and Brazil. Tropical-colored Creole-style houses sit beside hilltop ruins of the French colonial Fort Cépérou, which overlooks the Cayenne River. Shops and cafes can be found on the main commercial thoroughfare, Avenue du Général de Gaulle.

Returned a third time for the Bergere pizza and salted caramel ice cream with salted caramel sauce. Food and service were perfect. Wine carafe was reasonably priced. Updated my review to 5 stars. Would absolutely recommend this place. Second Review: Ok I am updating my review. I returned in the evening—only because they had a great beer selection and the rest of the bars around town seemed to be closed. I’m glad I did. The server working the evening shift tonight was very nice and so was the guy (maybe the manager) that served my food. I got the French Creole appetizer and it was outstanding. I may come back tomorrow and try the pizza. Original Review: As others have said: Nice building, but rude staff. As soon as I walked out of here, I suspected the reviews would say exactly that and I was not wrong.

A famous place in Cayenne since an age, more exactly since 1908. Located in the main square of Cayenne. You can have there a good daily menu for 12 €. Nice indoor and outdoor terraces. You will appreciate too the historical premises, an old creole house.

For the first time in my life in French Guiana. We stopped for dinner at Bar des Palmistes. A wonderful welcome from the staff, a nice atmosphere and a perfect steak, for which we thank the Master Chef very much. He can be proud of his work👍 We will definitely come back.

Ended up here several times - great location that's perfect for some people watching along with views of the park. Servers speak some English and were very accommodating to help with the menu. Unfortunately was never there during food hours but at minimum would suggest swinging by here to escape the heat (or rain) and grab a cold drink.

A traditional place to sit on the terrace and have a beer. But service leaves a lot to be desired. Getting hold of a waiter is not easy. The second time I just left after waiting 15 minutes for my beer.

Very nice location and offers a good ti' punch. The problem is the service which, to put it mildly, doesn't really care. The food is good but not exceptional - at least the things I tried. I went there many times during my stay in Cayenne, the place is particularly enjoyable in the evening.

Typical colonial style bar in Cayenne, great! A little lacking of maintenance but still good on creating the atmosphere!

Discovered unexpectedly, Restaurant La Petite Maison is a delightful find. With reasonable prices, generous portions, and excellent service, it offers an enjoyable dining experience. The dishes are expertly prepared and many are homemade. The charming Creole house that houses the restaurant adds to its appeal with its traditional architecture and beautiful aesthetic.
Good one

Really excellent food. Just fine/creative enough without sacrificing being delicious and perfectly prepared. I quite enjoyed the setting as well, an old house that has a lot of character.

(Translated by Google) Found by chance and very pleasant surprise. Correct price, it's good, it's plentiful and the reception is great. The dishes are well prepared and most are homemade. The Creole house which also houses the restaurant is typical and super pretty. (Original) Trouvé par hasard et très bonne surprise. Prix correct, c'est bon, c'est copieux et l'accueil est top. Les plats sont bien préparés et la plupart sont fait maison. La maison créole qui abrite le restaurant en plus est typique et super jolie.

Amazing restaurant with that offered a lot of value for the quality of the food. Highly suggest the appetizer sample plater and we had two separate fish entrees which were perfectly cooked. Desserts were very good as well, but maybe a little less when compared to the entrees (but don't hesitate to order - better than anywhere else in Cayenne). Only advice is that there's no AC and was rather muggy in the restaurant - on par for the area. So no need to overdress - keep it light and casual.

(Translated by Google) The food is still good but the prices are clearly on the rise. The young people in the service still need to learn. A plastic strip from a bottle of oil discovered in the main course and no commercial gesture. It’s clumsy at best!

(Translated by Google) Excellent restaurant that knows how to combine local cuisine and gastronomy. The fish tartare, well prepared and spicy, with its generous portion of homemade fries will remain a highlight of my stay in Guyana. :) (Original) Excellent restaurant qui sait conjuguer cuisine locale et gastronomie. Restaurant
La Taverne De Cayenne is primarily focused on meat, with most of the staff hailing from Bazil, including the chef. This bodes well for the quality of their dishes, which are often accompanied by delicious sauces. However, it's unfortunate that they don't offer moceca on their menu – a dish that should definitely be considered for inclusion.
Nice 😍
Kenny Weimert — Google review
It's pretty much all about meat. But almost all staff seems to be from Bazil including the chef, so that can mean only good things for me. I like something with a sauce and sadly they don't have moceca. (Need to put that on the menu). There is a crevette with sauce of yr choice option. Yummy. But these are prawns w full shell. And they don't give you a plate for the shells?? Wine by the glass is a reasonably priced. The shrimp was good. The other place down the street, 'La Petite Maison' does serve moceca.

Located in downtown Cayenne, ẞpinish is a top-notch lunch spot offering a convenient and diverse menu crafted from locally sourced ingredients, all at an affordable price. Whether you choose to dine under the cozy patio or by the inviting poolside, the choice is yours. Although labeled as an Italian establishment, it actually serves delectable French cuisine with a delightful Creole twist. The atmosphere is pleasing and the food, while not reaching their ambitious standards, remains appetizing.
One of the best places to have lunch at when in downtown Cayenne. Quick and easy menu made from local products, at a very reasonable price. Eat under the patio or pool side, your call! I don't see why it is advertised as an Italian place though, to me it's just fine french food with a creole touch.
