Matsopoulos Mill, also known as the Mill of the Elves, is a historic flour mill complex in Trikala with a rich history dating back to 1884. Once a functioning industrial monument until the 1980s, it has now been transformed into a cultural center featuring a cinema, theatre, and local history museum. During Christmas, it becomes a vibrant grotto of lights attracting families from nearby towns and villages.
Lovely place for the youngest, so many interesting things to see, looking like a real christmas village, do not miss this place during the christmas time.
Bisera Chauleva — Google review
Very interesting museum that show all the info regarding the mill as also the procedure of grinding the seeds. Also, in the premises of the mill, there is a nice park, cafeteria, cinema.

Lovely classic mill design, picture Perfect.0l0 Great to explore with an outdoor cinema, walking distance from Trikala centre
james masters — Google review
Around Christmas this park is transformed into a beautiful theme park with lots of food, games, activities for children & not only! Negative aspects is the fact that usually is overcrowded and you should be careful with children, not to get lost, and also it is necessary to have much more toilet places and much cleaner!
Z. Nikos — Google review
The history and triumph of the family that brought the mill and updated is a very inspiring story.

Beautiful utilization of the place. Great xmas decorations. Bit on the overpriced side though. Worth a visit. Not worth buying anything.

This is a nice museum for a short visit and on the day we visited, it was free (may always be free, not sure?). While there are digital learning devices, there is not any real practical exhibits to speak of, that would have made it better for our son.

Trikala is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, city in Greece. It's clean, its people are very nice and friendly but above all they are very, very, very polite. I was shocked to see that the young people there are so polite that I could not omit to mention my and my daughter and I. Went into a crouded of souvlaki restaurant to have something to eat and without any hesitation two young people just got up and offered their seats to us! It IS THE PLACE to visit at Christmas with the kids.
Nomikos Mike Tseros — Google review
One of the most beautiful sights of Trikala. You will take some of the greatest pics there with your friends or beloved one. Try visiting it both day and night if possible!
Damian Santalidis — Google review
One of the most characteristic spots in the city of Trikala and one of the most picturesque as well. Wherever you go, you will definitely have a pass from there and take a nice picture. It is well preserved and the municipality has put some public sitting areas where you can enjoy the view to the river and the vibe of the city in general

Osman Sah Mosque, also known as Kozum or Kursum Mosque, is a significant landmark in Trikala, Greece. Built in the 16th century by a Turkish prince named Osman Shah, it stands as one of the few remaining remnants from the Ottoman empire. The mosque was constructed as a gesture of gratitude to the locals who had helped the prince recover from an injury.
This 16th century mosque is one of the few remnants from the Ottoman empire and one of the landmarks of the town. It was built by the famous architect Sinan Pasha for the prince Osman Shah, son of Sultan Suleiman. According to legend the mosque was built as a thank you when the prince was healed from his ailing illness in Trikala. Among the many mosques that the city used to have, this is the only one left standing.

The Κέντρο Έρευνας - Μουσείο Τσιτσάνη is a museum dedicated to the Greek musician and composer Vassilis Tsitsanis. Housed in the old prison building at Karditsis 1, it also served as a bath house after the prison closed.
This is a unique place, a unique experience which has been set up with much love. It took many years - decades - to set it up and the passion of one individual, Stelios Karagiorgis, as well as the commitment of a few different mayors who believed in his vision and did everything they could to help make that happen (something that is unfortunately unusual un Greece). Collaboration and continuity can result in miracles, and this is certainly one of these! Certainly worth visiting! ❤️ If you do, don't miss the augmented reality based application tsitsanisAR: you will be able to watch Tsitsanis himself speaking, as well as other unique pieces of evidence that tell about his life. PS. You should naturally also visit the ottoman bath downstairs, as well as the remaining prison cells in the other building opposite to Tistsanis Museum.
Maria Boura — Google review
Renowned composer Tsitsanis Museum. Newly renovated, above the bathhouse/prison museum. A great place to learn about rebetika songs in a beautiful space. Information is available in Greek and English. Tsitsanis was born here in Trikala.

Really interesting Ottoman era building housing a museum and research centre. The building was recently renovated and converted to a musuem as it used to be a prison.During the renovation work, unknown old turkish baths (hamam) were uncovered on the bottom floor and work has been done to preserve them in order for visitors to be able to view and appreciate them. The first floor is dedicated to the legendary greek songwriter, singer, and buzuki player Vasilis Tsitsanis who was born in Trikala. Tsitsanis was a prolific writer and he is attributed with modernising the rebetiko sound making it more upbeat and accessible to the masses

Theme park
"The Mill of the Elves" is a festive destination that attracts over a million visitors from November to early January. This old water mill has been transformed into a magical toy and confectionery factory, where Santa Claus and his Elves welcome guests to their enchanting kingdom. The park offers rides, live entertainment, food stalls with various treats, an ice-skating rink, and the opportunity to purchase New Year charms.
Of course there may be larger Xmas thematic parks in the world, but this was fun for us and the children. Lot of different food, some festive treats, lovely decoration, stage with program and activities for the children. We spent around 3 hours, and we could've spent more but it was raining.
Jordan Kocevski — Google review
If I could give 6 stars for something, this would be it! Above all expectations! World class! Starting from the smallest details, up to the whole picture, everything is made with style and crafted exceptionally. The whole town is living for this event: new open parking spaces all around the mill. About the mill: classic schoolbook example how to revive an old building, wrap it around a story, and sell it to the masses. Well done people of Trikala! Hats down!
Petar Stojcevski — Google review
I wonderful experience for children and adults alike - so magical. Food and rides are quite pricey but given that entrance is free and the atmosphere is lovely - a few extra euros are well worth it. Allow between 10 euros per person to eat and drink - and another 10-20 per person for rides or other treats…. All the people working were friendly and welcoming- all spoke English (thank you) - some fluently (the lady in the biscuit wheel spoke excellent English as did Father Christmas’ helpers and in the photo shop). We are learning Greek as best we can but are still pretty terrible at conversation. I worked in a tourist attraction in Australia and so appreciate the effort it takes to be happy, smiley and welcoming all day. The toilets were all very clean and the workers there were friendly too. Would 100% recommend

The best Christmas 🎄 thematic Park in Greece. It has a lot of food and winter activities for families and young couples. Its an ideal destination for everyone to enjoy. I enjoyed the vast selection of sweet and pastry along with burgers hot dogs etc. Recommended for everyone during Christmas, its such an ideal destination, marvelous work by the municipality of Trikala. Also Meteora a world heritage sight is few kilometers away, so you could travel for a full weekend of fun.

Best Xmas theme park in Greece! Lots of happy people around. Stuff was super prepared to welcome visitors and ready to help. Well trained to deal with children and navigate adults. Absolutely recomended for family with kids, plus adults who still feel kids :) Bonus point: free entrance. Prices inside the park were also normal. Congrats to the municipality for its great effort!

Great Christmas destination for all ages. Full of rides, live entertainment, food stalls of all kinds, great tasting sweets, an ice-skating rink, or simply buy a new year charm and get your camera lenses ready as you step into a fairy tale. If you have extra time up your sleeve, take a train ride to Trikala city centre or drive just 20 minutes away and head to Meteora. While taking in the breath taking view, try to visit Saint Stefano monastery. A magnificent and unique experience, indeed!

The best Christmas themed park in Greece! No entry fees, cheap food, ample sweets! Very secure and clean with plenty of attractions. The old mill has a great tour with all of its history! The atmosphere is so Chirstmasy that it makes you feel like a little kid again! I wouldn't change a thing in there, and best of all it is 10 minutes walkjng distance from downtown Trikala which is breathtaking during the Season! Trust me, it is worth the drive wherever you live in Greece!!

Small plates restaurant
The restaurant Τα Μεζεδοκαμώματα offers generous servings and a cozy atmosphere. The quality of the meat can be improved as it lacked juiciness and was overcooked, possibly due to rush hour. Although recommended, it is uncertain if this is truly the best tavern experience in town, considering other nearby options. However, the establishment stands out for its excellent service and delightful daily specials.
There were many tavernas close by but because There were more people sitting at this one we chose this to eat at. Wonderful service. Their special was excellent. Great food. I will definitely go back.
diane fergadis — Google review
Good portions, warm environment. The meat could be better it was not that juicy and it was overly cooked. I guess it was rush hour. Recommended but not sure if its indeed the best tavern experience in town.
Panos Tzikoudes — Google review
The meals are expensive and quantities laughable especially compared to the neighboring restaurants, they are decent in taste though. The service is unacceptable. We sat down while half of the tables were empty, waited for about 30 minutes for our order to be taken and another 30 minutes to even get our beverages. The heater near our table was turned off and it was cold (Januray) so we asked them to open it which they did but after about 15 minutes they turned it off again without telling us. We asked them to reopen it and they did but they closed it again. The town is full of wonderful restaurants, just go somewhere else.

As a Greek Australian, I rarely dine at Greek restaurants because they don't meet the standards set by my family's cooking. However, my visit to Greece and specifically to Tsikali tavern shattered those expectations. The lamb was exceedingly tender and had a perfectly caramelized exterior from being oven-cooked. My partner enjoyed the pork shin cooked in orange and rosemary, which was crispy on the outside yet delicate inside.
Excellent place to try local Greek food. All dishes were locally sourced and simply outstanding. Service is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!
Boris Nikitin — Google review
Fairly good food, took them way too long to serve, a bit weird that all other taverns around this place were full and they were not but overall quite good.
Eirini Talanti — Google review
First the bad news: In the managers' quest for space efficiency, you get a crammed place little room to move, lots of noice and a fair deal of cigarette smoke. At peak hours the service is somewhat slow to very slow (if ever so polite). and last, they like to let you think this is Cretan cuisine when in reality it's only a distant cousin. However (here comes the good stuff): You will struggle to find a single plate below average. In fact most plates are well executed, with almost entirely ballanced flavour and (the best part) an adventurous character mixing known and established ingredients in new delicious ways. I think three and a half stars would be spot on (if such thing as a half star existed). The prices are very friendly too.
Harris Axer — Google review
Nice and cozy tavern, the food was very good, the dishes were huge and the price quite low. Even in the hot August lunchtime the temperature was good thanks to being in a small shadowy street with huge fans creating a nice wind. Overall a very nice lunch experience.

As a Greek Australian, I rarely eat Greek out because it doesn't measure up to what my family can make. Coming to Greece has blown out those expectations. I have never had such tender yet caramelised lamb in my life, with the oven cooked lamb. My partner got the pork shin cooked in orange and rosemary, crispy on the outside and delicate on the inside. Salad, chips, Rice, everything was impeccable in flavour, and at a reasonable price. I would absolutely come here again.

The menu boasts generous portions at affordable prices, making it a great value for money. The staff is attentive and ensures efficient and high-quality service. Conveniently located in the town center, the establishment also provides pleasant outdoor seating options. Good food, lots of meat choices and generally a wide variety of plates. The portions are generous and the prices fairly low taking into account the quantities. The personnel is very good and cares to provide a quick, quality, service. Great and friendly service. Quick seating outdoors. Good, authentic Greek food. Four stars because the food did not stand out and was a bit let down by the grilled feta. While I looooooove cats, it was sad to see all the stray cats while eating. I just kept wanting to give them all my food.

Came here for lunch, a wonderful atmosphere to sit relax and engage with the locals. I was taken here by locals so definitely a good place. The owner/manager was very accommodative, we wanted specific dish and they did not have it, because of the competition, he agreed to buy ingredients to make that dish. When in Greece do not hesitate to ask for what you want, they usually will make it for you. The taste of the food was delicious, it was good sized portions where you would be full by the end of it. Local drink is a must try.

The Greek restaurant Ladophánaro offers incredibly delectable cuisine. During a visit to the city, three individuals dined at this establishment and indulged in various dishes such as Greek salad, Bifteki Gemisto (a cheese-filled meat patty), Tiganita Fetas (sauteed pork with feta cheese), and Grilled chicken fillet with mushrooms. Each dish was bursting with flavor and exceeded expectations.
I highly recommend this restaurant! Dining here was an amazing experience. The vibe of the interiors is so cozy and the staff is really welcoming. There is a menu in English, and everyone was eager to answer my questions and explain the dishes, as well as give me recommendations. The food was delicious. I had the sautéed pork (which came with fries) and boiled greens. Water and bread was on the house, and I was also offered a free glass of wine and dessert (which was amazing!).
