Plaza General San Martín

Mentioned on
Park
Sights & Landmarks
The Plaza San Martin is a green space located in the heart of Buenos Aires. It is known for its equestrian monument and open green space which makes it a popular spot among downtown workers and shoppers. With a history dating back to the 18th century, the park is surrounded by many historic architectural monuments.
In a city filled with beautiful parks, this may be the most lovely. Huge, perfectly maintained trees and spectacular statuary and plenty of quiet paths and benches. A great respite from the chaos of nearby Florida St.

Beautiful square but many homeless people

Beautiful place! Went there for a morning stroll around 6-7am. Some soldiers were there for flag raising at that time. Majestic statue of General Jose de San Martin. Just a little bit of mosquitoes there in the morning, but don't worry!

Fantastic park right in the city center overlooking the area towards the Rio de la Plata, Retiro, Torre de los Ingleses (some sort of give away from England to some of their best customers then). All in all a very beautiful and very typical design by Carlos Thays with lots of ornaments, monuments, emblematic vistas. Fin-de-siecle landscaping at its best and some fantastic architecture around: edificio Kavanagh, an art deco masterpiece, and the Palacio San Martin, seat of the Foreign Office, another great building from the city beautiful era.

Very nice square, with a monument to San Martin well eloquent of what was his campaign in the Andes. I recommend visiting it with a tour guide who will tell you the story. Unfortunately it has a fence around it to prevent vandalism. Anyway, the whole environment is very nice.

Who was General San Martín? José Francisco de San Martín y Matorras (1778–1850), known simply as José de San Martín (or "the Liberator of Argentina, Chile and Peru") was an Argentine general who led the successful struggle against the Spanish Empire. He was born in Yapeyú, Corrientes, in modern-day Argentina, and studied in Málaga, Spain. Plaza General San Martín is small. It has a tiny police station on stilts on the southern end; the Circulo Militar is across the street. It's the Retiro neighborhood's main green space. The statue has bullring. It was inaugurated in 1862, and declared a National Historic Site in 1942.

Great place for an excelent taste of Buenos Aires. It is beautiful, there is security around, benches to rest, a water fountain. Locals spend time with their family or pets. Not far away, there are many good options for eating. Nice place.

A pretty awesome square with lots of history. Take a free walking tour that guides you through here to hear all about it! The story behind the church was both tragic and funny. =)

This place is beautiful. Very clean and spacious. It was the 1st place I visited in Buenos Aires while just waiting for my hotel check in. I grabbed a cup of coffee and a media luna and just sat down in a bench enjoying and taking all the nature in and all the beauty around me.. there are also homeless individuals floating around. So you must also keep an eye open.

Catedral de La Plata

Cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
The La Plata Catedral is an expansive, neo-Gothic cathedral with a room for 7,000 people and an interesting museum on the construction of the building. The twin steeples were completed in 1999 and the design was inspired by medieval churches in Cologne and Amiens. The cathedral has fine stained-glass windows, gargoyles and polished granite floors which are accessible in the basement through an elevator ride.

Very beautiful church - really huge and located in a nice area of La Plata. Visitors should definitely add this as number 1 priority if they are visiting the city. Both the internal and external areas are incredible and the church js located jn a very nice area, with a park and lots of people.

such a historical and beautiful place to visit. I highly recommend to go into the museum and to use the elevator that shows you such a great view from the top of the catedral

Such a beautiful church. La Plata is like a hidden gem!! So happy to have done the day trip
Stacey Gibby — Google review
You don't expect this kind of architecture in South America and you definitely don't expect a Cathedral with this level of detail to be made of brick. The design was incredible and the history behind the building is unique as well. The interior is just as grand as the exterior and has a holy aura to it. Definitely worth stopping in for a minimum of 30 minutes. The stain glass alone is worth it
Alyx Falis — Google review
La Plata Cathedral is a Neo-Gothic construction that took over 100 years to finish. It was completed in 1997 when they added the needles. If it's a clear day, I personally recommend taking the full your with the elevator ride. You can actually see Rio de La Plata (La Plata River) and appreciate the disposition of streets and green spaces.
Lia M. Albrecht — Google review
The picture doesn't do it an ounce of justice. What an incredible monument to God, to Mother Mary, to honor Mater Dolorosa, the sorrow she felt. When I entered the cathedral I was owe struck, slack jawed and staring as I walked down the middle aisle, The arched ceiling so high I had to raise my head and lift my eyes heavenward, like the stars above the impossible pillars and glass murals stir humility in the heart, giving a fractional glimpse of the infinite sublime. I wonder how many people it has inspired, igniting dormant faith.

The Museo de La Plata is an impressive museum of anthropology, geology, zoology, palaeontology and botany housed in a beautiful Neo-classical building. It boasts a vast collection of prehistoric artefacts, dinosaur bones, animal skeletons and taxidermy animals. The first floor is the main attraction with its world class display of dinosaurs. The museum also features exhibits on ancient civilizations such as Egypt and the Inka empire.
Amazing museum, but a complete pain to reach (assume 2 hours from Buenos Aires) Definitely a rival to the natural history museum in London! It is on thr small size, but well worth a visit

Probably the best museum I have visited in South America! They have millions of very interesting pieces from earth evolution to human cultures. Also the entrance fee is free on Tuesdays!

Awesome museum! Cheap to enter and full of wonderful exhibits including fossils, animals, plants and rocks! Staff were friendly too! Would recommend visiting if you get the chance. It's about an hour on the train from Buenos Aires so it can be a trek but its worth it.

The most impressive skeletons you see in the photos are fake. Not worth the trip from CABA unless you're bored and visiting La Plata. Disappointing

This museum allows you to learn about the local fauna now and in the past, through fossils and skeletons. They also have objects from the originary peoples from south America. Very nice visit. I went in January 2022 and it costed 500 pesos (2-4 dollars) at the time.

Awesome. Great for kids. A fantastic old school museum in a gorgeous building, more dinosaur bones and animal skeletons and taxidermy animals than anyone would ever need. Upstairs has more modern interactive exhibits, but the first floor is why you come. Truly a world class collection of dinosaurs on display. If you have kids, this will be the highlight of their week.

A place full of knowledge and experience for the ones who love antiques and about dinosaurs, birds, insects, and a lot of other things.

Curutchet House is a modern architectural masterpiece by the renowned architect Le Corbusier, located in Argentina. Built in 1953 for Pedro Curutchet, an Argentine surgeon, it is one of only two structures built by Le Corbusier in the Americas. The house exemplifies Le Corbusier's five points of architecture and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
If you like Architecture, this house is a MUST. The experience visiting the House could take you 40 minutes to 1 hour including the speech from the guide. Designed by the Architect “Le Corbusier”. Unesco World Heritage

Interesting but foreigners from outside Latin America pay $6000 entry (6 usd). Includes a pamphlet and a talk, both in Spanish. Also you have to wait outside the house for someone to let you in, which isn't totally clear.

Cool, inexpensive admission, interesting peek into what the original owners lives would have been like. Beautiful views of the plaza/park across the street.

The Curutchet house is part of UNESCO world heritage program. This house is the only proyect from Le Corbusier y Latín América and is a perfect example of his architecture manifest. This house is eclectic, between modern architecture and brutalism, it is located in the middle of 2 pre existing houses and it articulate their facades. The house has lots of sensitive details that make it unique, and its really incredible the level of coherence achieved even when Le Corbusier designed it from the distance only with sheets and photos from the site. This house is real because of the good relationship and collaboration between the local architect Amancio Williams, another architecture master, that take care of adjusting, and fine tuning the project while building it. He was LC's eyes on Argentina and everything was resolved overseas by letters in a back and forth analog communication. This is a masterpiece, organically resolved and masterly design from conjunction of LC's mastermind and Williams's precise harmony with his ideas.
Luis Picarelli — Google review
It's very different kind of tourist place. Entry fee is little costly that too sometimes without receipts. But the creativity is amazing by considering the time of design.
Anupam A. Gandhewar — Google review
The only work in south america for Le Corbusier (pioneer swiss architect) If you are foreigner you'll pay 150 pesos, if local 60 or 30, if local student 15 pesos. You have about 30 minutes to visit all the house alone. Take photos and set a little bit on the terrace. There are sketches for the place exhibited on 2nd floor, plus some of the house plans & sections.

Parrilla Pena is a great Argentinian steakhouse in Recoleta, where the locals go. The food is simple but delicious and the service is friendly and welcoming. If you're looking for an authentic Argentinian experience, head to Parrilla Peña.
Go and eat. Old place, regular tables and chairs, paper table cover. No fancy at all, but traditional and friendly. Locals knows each other. Good food.

Great Argentine parrilla, huge rib eye portion, excellent empanadas, amazing flan con dulce de Leche. Need to run a marathon after lunch to burn the calories. Recommended.

Traditional Argentinian asado, grill. Excellent quality meat for meat eaters, great selection of wines to accompany. Personally had amazing salad with cheese, i love the view, and business of this place especially from the second floor, authentic true argentinian restaurant, where we go back pretty often.

Great Argentinian restaurant, lovely stuff and atmosphere, you fill like you just visited some Argentinian family and everyone in the family tries to make you feel good. Steak was one of the best which we tasted in Argentina. Recommend to everyone.
Alexi Amniashvili — Google review
That was a parilla with a local vibe. We had chance to talk to some locals in the restaurant and they also mentioned it was one of their favorite place in the city. Steak was cooked to perfection. Ask for “jugoso” (medium, medium-rare norms don’t always apply in Argentina) if you want it to cooked like in the photo. Overall great experience; however the service can be improved. We would visit there again
Mert — Google review
We ordered rib eye 3250pesos,( March 2022) pretty pricy but its two pieces juicy meat. So for the quality and quantity 700grams meat its not too bad. They also charge 130/person table service fee. My friend recommended me here for cheap eatery, definitely not cheap but traditional style grill steak house with pretty high quality rib eyes. I think we will come back for the ojo de bife ( rib eye)
Crystal Zeng — Google review
The best steak I've had so far in Argentina and not too expensive. Good value for money. 3500 for steak, chips and a bottle of water
Lenny Maclean — Google review
This is the kind of place you want to go back to and it's a fair price. The rib eye steak was so good and tender. And mollejas were awesome.
EVERALDO ALMEIDA — Google review
Considering the price and quality maybe it’s among one of the best choice of assados which you could enjoy in Buenos Aires capital. This only costed my 3,600 pesos including one bottle of water, and the bread, salad and Espanda are free!
??? — Google review
It's a highly recommended place by locals and tourists alike for good asado. The prices are also reasonable, not too expensive. However, it can get very crowded especially during meal times so it's better to dine in earlier in the day or to make a reservation prior. The portion sizes are good, and the place is great for a bite or a hang out session with friends.
ruchita vaidya — Google review
Delicious. On arrival we received empanadas for free and bread coated with herbs. The condiments such as chimmy churry was also delicious. We ordered the salad with everything and it was yummy. We loved the fact that when we ordered the waiter himself said it was too much. Sometimes in a foreign country it's not easy to order when you don't know the amount. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone who want to experience a traditional Argentinian BBQ.
Maria Newman — Google review
This is one of the perfect parrillas to visit in Buenos Aires. Not the usual hyped up touristy places (though some of them are great). This place has amazing old school service, and has more reasonable prices. The server was very helpful in recommending options. The empanadas and their red chimichurri deserve a special mention, apart from their meats of course!
Rakesh Mishra — Google review
Authentic and Outstanding Experience at Parrilla Peña I had the pleasure of dining at Parrilla Peña, where I ordered morcilla and lomo de bife. To my delight, the meal started with a complimentary empanada and mineral water, totaling 17,650 pesos without tip. The quality of the food was nothing short of amazing. The empanada stood out with its rich meat filling, more filling than dough, just as it should be. The crust was perfectly crisp, enhancing the overall taste. The morcilla was flavorful and cooked to perfection, a real treat for the taste buds. However, the highlight was undoubtedly the lomo de bife. It was grilled to perfection, juicy on the inside, and absolutely flawless. I appreciated that the dishes came without sides, as they would have only distracted from the main event. The ambiance of Parrilla Peña added to the experience. It's a popular spot among locals, which is always a good sign. The restaurant isn't overly touristy, offering a more authentic experience compared to the typical tourist traps. Price-wise, it was reasonable. Although I didn't order wine, I noticed a great selection available. The no-reservation policy is something I find appealing, adding to the casual, welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent, contributing to a truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic local flavors and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

An Asado institution. If you're looking for the most traditional Argentinian asado experience then look no more. Make sure to ask for Medium rare, and enjoy thier steaks. You can't go wrong in there.
Ahmed Abdulmajeed — Google review
Great food, big portions and reasonable prices. Lots of locals go to this place. Order the Mollejas and they were delicious. My first time trying it, I could taste the smoke and it was very tender. You need to eat it while it’s still warm. The best empanada that I tried in Buenos Aires (I tried empanadas from at least 10 different places). Ordered the Chorizo beef and it was cooked with perfection. Also the mashed potatoes were delicious and very light.
Rafael Barros — Google review
“I enjoyed some fantastic and very affordable meals at Parrilla Peña during my visit to Buenos Aires. It was recommended by several of my local contacts as their go-to place for dinner. I was advised to try a variety of cuts: Entraña steak, bife de chorizo, ojo de bife, and vacio. While the Ribeye, known as ‘Ojo de bife,’ remains my favorite, I sampled all of these cuts at Parrilla Peña, and they were all grilled to perfection. I also had the opportunity to try the Chorizo and blood sausages, which added to the enjoyable experience. To recap the cuts: • ‘Entraña steak’ is a type of steak known as ‘skirt steak’ in English. It offers a flavorful taste. • ‘Bife de chorizo’ is the equivalent of a ‘Sirloin steak’ or ‘New York strip steak’ in English. It boasts tenderness and marbling. • ‘Ojo de bife’ corresponds to a ‘Ribeye steak’ in English. Its marbling contributes to its remarkable flavor and tenderness. • ‘Vacio’ is known as a ‘Flank steak’ in English. It’s a lean and flavorful cut often used for grilling or marinating.”

Parilla Peña is the Buenos Aires neighbourhood parilla of your dreams. Come for the perfectly cooked meats (by far the best I’ve had in over forty years visiting the city - mollejas, tira de asado and entraña are standouts), stay for the local oldies sitting alone at their tables, drinking their red wines diluted with soda while arguing about politics and football with the asadors, waiters, and each other. Pride and history drips from the walls. It’s magic.

La Conga is a Peruvian seafood and chicken restaurant with large portions and modest prices. It's off the beaten path in the Once neighborhood, but it's well worth joining the largely Peruvian clientele for a feast. Arrive hungry to get your fill of ceviche, calamari, seafood rice or a whole chicken. You'll probably have enough leftovers for several meals to come.

The best Peruvian food outside of Peru that I have ever had. Their serving sizes are massive and can easily leave a group of two to four full. The food is high-quality. The servers and friendly and the service is fast. In the evenings, there is a line to get in.

Great Peruvian restaurant! The portions are huge and the price is really good. The food is fresh. The only inconvenient is that since it's usually overcrowded, you have to queue up for some minutes. But everything is well -organised. The ceviche and the passion fruit frozen juice are the best!!

This place is amazing. The empanadas are incredible. The place is quaint and very traditional. But the service is amazing. My server teased me about having a coffee at 1pm, joked with me, told me stories, recommended food, and actually told me to order less as I ordered to much. He was very friendly and funny. Absolutely fantastic authentic Argentinian food. You will have not only the classic meat-based plates, but other less common options such as humita or locro. Would totally recommend if you are around!

Got a recommendation from our tour guide to get empanadas here. Ordered six different kinds to try with a side salad and some sparkling water. Enough to feed the two of us for $10 plus tip! Empanadas were delicious and the service was great!! Outdoor seating available

Argentinian pub. Enjoyed lunch snack of empanadas, tamale, and wine to settle the stomach after long overnight flight. Lively lunch of locals and visitors. Steak look great at the nearby table and was finished quickly. Delightful waiter. Nice to try real local dishes. I

Great empanadas and salad, cheap and with very fast service. The waiter was hilarious and super friendly.

My experience at this restaurant was rather mixed. The overall quality of the food was average, with a notable issue being the undercooked chicken, which was a significant disappointment. However, I must commend the delightful mashed potatoes they served. The primary concern arose during the payment process. They declined my credit card, even though there was no indication at the entrance that specific card types wouldn't be accepted. This created an uncomfortable and unexpected situation. I hope the restaurant improves its communication and ensures better quality control in the kitchen.

We came here twice for dinner during our week in BA but could have easily come here more. We found this restaurant during our research for trip but I can’t remember where I read the recommendation except I did take note that their empanadas are highly recommended and the review is absolutely correct. We tried the baked and fried empanadas and both were juicy and flavourful but I’m partial to the fried one (Sanjuanino). We ordered fernet with Coke on both visits and we had a generous pour each time 😊 On our first visit, my husband ordered a choripán. As soon as I saw modongo (tripe stew) on the menu, I looked no further. I loved loved my big bowl of tripe. The organ pieces were tender but still retained their gummy texture and the flavour of the stew base was very pleasant. My husband said his choripán had very good flavour but was a bit dry (could have used a little more grease). On our last night in BA, we wanted to go somewhere homey with hearty dishes so came here again. My husband had a milanesa and fries and I went for the steak and fries. The attached pictures say it all and I don’t think I need to put words to describe them. As a visitor, you will probably want to dine at Don Julio like everyone / every travel website suggests. However, if you aren’t able to make a reservation there, you won’t miss out much. El Sanjuanino will give you a more leisurely neighbourhood dining experience with equally good and authentic Argentine asado menu. Besides, El Sanjuanino will not burn a hole in your wallet. Some of the wait staff are more comfortable conversing in English than other but if you will be fine even if you have a very limited Spanish vocabulary. The patrons were about 50/50 locals and English-speaking expatriates.

It’s packed in here with tourists. The prices are ok but the quality has gone down in the years I have been here. The best empanada is still the fried San Juanino. Hands down! The other we tried were rushed and no really great. Cheese and cebolla was really bad, mush and luke warm. Got two sodas. One 500ml and the other 350 ml, charged the same for both. Staff is friendly enough but I won’t be venturing back.

A dining experience you would expect at your grandmother’s kitchen if she were an Argentinian. The best in every aspect.

El Sanjuanino was recommended for its empanadas, and we can confirm those were one of the best we had in Buenos Aires. They are made "al horno" (on the oven), which I personally prefer rather than the fried ones. 🥟 Regarding empanadas, they have some different fillings on their list and we had the spicy meat and the capresse (cheese, tomato and basil). I cannot even choose a preferred one. The meat one was perfectly spicy, it had egg and olives for extra flavour, and it was really moisty. The capresse was with a lot of melted cheese, and tasted like a really good pizza. The outter layer was thin and they were not super roasted, which is exactly why I loved them so much. If I knew it before hand, I would just have ordered more empanadas and made my lunch out of it. 🍲 As it was an unexpected really cold and rainy day, we were suggested to have some lentejas, which is a one pot of lentils, sauce and different meats (sausage, meat, panceta). It was a perfect combination and a great dish to share after empanadas. The service was extra special. Although we had amazing experiences in Argentina, I should say that the staff was genuinely good with us. They have a second room on the basement, and it's a good idea to visit when you are around Retiro / Recoleta.

This was one of the best restaurants we visited in buenos aires, we visited d off the peak hours just before they were closing so didn't have much of a wait time. We got the "hunting deer" and that was one of the best dishes we got to try in south America, the meat was tender, juicy and the gravy alongside was delicious. The service was great too and our waiter made sure we understand what each dish is about before taking the order. Highly recommend this restaurant

Had to go in the floor down which had a smell not easy to live with it. As I read that the choripan and empanadas were good, i ordered them and i received so low quality food specially the choripan was half and a disaster!!! I payed for these 2 and 1 water 4250 pesos which if i would have change them throuth the bank that would be 12,70 dollars!!! Very very expensive for the taste and the portions i got!!!! Paris is cheaper then BA

The Milanesa was incredible. Hilarious waiter and great service. They brought out the salt before the food so I could salt the French fries. The bathrooms were clean.

Grill
The Parrilla El Pobre Luis offers Argentinian-style grills with delicious beef cuts, including chorizo de rueda without tying and liver to the cloth (liver steak wrapped in bacon and laurel). Owner Luis Acuña also prepares pamplonas of chicken, pork or loin, the strip of roast lamb and other dishes.
Nice sports club decor, good staff and fine food. Steak served how we liked it (medium rare) not over done as much of Argentina likes to cook it.

TLDR: Delicious, clean and cozy. Nice restaurant in the cebter of the busy Belgrano, the ambient is cozy and tranquil, with a lot of football shirts, the waiters were nice and welcoming, they were good, talkative and helpful. We ordered a chicken salad, a tira de asado, a milanesa de luis, a pamplona and for appetizer, we asked some french fries. They were amazing, I ate the pamplona and I was delighted all of the flavours convined perfectly. A bit pricey, 3900 for a tira de asado. If it werent for the price it woukd probabky be a 5 star bathrooms were ok and semi-cleaned.

An overall nice parrilla. Everything we ordered came in generous portions and was indeed very tasty. We had morcilla and chinchulines for starters, 1 ojo de bife to share for main course and a flan mixto for dessert. Steak was cooked to a nice medium rare as we asked for (which is hard to get here in bs as) I felt the meat was a little bland, though, maybe it was just me. Also, service was fast but not the friendliest. Bare in mind this place is pricier than other parrillas in town.

This restaurant is a must! The service was a little slow at first but our server had a larger section and was handling it very well! He was very friendly and had good suggestions. He even recommend that we order less fries since the servings are large. The food is very tasteful and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. My family enjoyed the chorizo appetizer so much, we actually went 2 days in a row to eat dinner there. Its a little pricier than other parrillas, but well worth the visit.

Excellent service, limited but amazing meat selections. Good, solid wine list. Too much soccer... but understandable.

Good menu. Speciality of the house meat rolls called "Pamplonas". Have parience, it takes some time to be prepared and served. Waiter not very kind, seemed to be in a hurry and not willing to give service. We were gently asked to pay and start getting ready to leave a nit after midnight... A bit expensive.

Great Parrilla barbecue, highly recommend it! The place has a unique character and first class cuts cooked to perfection accompanied by excellent Argentinian Malbec wine. I strongly suggest to try the Bife De Chorizo stake as this would be an excellent choice of a re traditional prime Argentinian cut. Also tried the provoleta grilled cheese which is fantastic and a local delicacy the Mollejas de res.

Not a very known restaurant but surely a must visit one! The prices are very cheap compared to other restaurants in Buenos Aires and the meat is better than most of them! One of the best I've tried in a long time. The service is exceptional and the atmosphere is great. You can watch the grill man and there are many decorations such as football shirts and photos that makes it nice to wait for the food

Great service, we ordered the Uruguayo to share since it’s a big piece of steak! The spinach side dish was a very nice addition and portions are very generous. It was very good and a nice atmosphere, very warm and cozy ambiance here. Would recommend for sure if you’re staying in Belgrano or in the area.

Great Steakhouse! A classic Parrilla of Argentina, a place you must go if you visit Buenos Aires! Awesome for groups and fun atmosphere. I'll be back!

Incredible Argentinian steak house. Best meat in town. Ideal place to taste new cuts. Not cheap but worth it. You always have people waiting so make a reservation or arrive early. A guy at the front desk will park your car if you don’t find a place to. I will definitely go back.

La Cocina is a classic Argentine empanada restaurant whose fresh, piping-hot empanadas are sure to satisfy any taste. The unassuming exterior and general lack of flashy decoration make it a great choice for those looking to get a true sense of Buenos Aires' down-to-earth character. Locals usually order their empanadas to go, but there are a few tables inside if you're feeling adventurous.
This was a great stop after we got turned down without a reservation somewhere else nearby. We had been wanting to do an empanada crawl, and opted to just do the whole crawl here at this renowned empanada joint. We tried every empanada on the menu and loved them all except for the creamed corn (choclo). A well oiled machine, so even if there’s a line, you won’t wait long.

Great empanadas. I specifically liked that carne suave and the ricotta y jamon empanadas. The best is the atmosphere there, the guy who deals with customers has a bigger than life personality, confident, funny, slightly flirtatious, curious, attentive - everyone literally leaves with a big smile. The empanadas are not only tasty but pretty well priced too - 1400 pesos each (April 2024). In the evening people were coming and coming, the line was long and never ending. No wonder why the place is popular. Super recommended!

We went a bit out of our way to come try this place. It was really good, but probably not worth the out of the way trip again. A couple of our empanadas were cold, which plays into the review. We ordered pikachu, pollo, carne suave, y carne picante. My favorite we're the two carne ones. Also be aware there isn't much seating available at the restaurant.

Great hole in the wall for empanadas. Paid $1.40 USD each and had 3. The best, one by far was the spicy beef, followed by the regular beef. Would probably avoid the chicken one.

Piping hot empanadas that burnt my tongue as I bit in (the taste was worth it). I purchased three, and that was about the right amount. I highly recommend the carne picante, but the queso y cebolla was delicious too. The inside is rustic, giving the place an authentic feel. My friends and I were the only English speakers. The only downside is that the sole employee is a bit harsh with us when we didn't have our orders ready when we reached the front of the line. To be fair, he was busy.

Amazingly tasty & delicious! We tried many but the carne suave (meat) and carne picante (spicy meat) and pollo (chicken) were the best 👌 We ate 3 each and were so content & happy with our lunch. It’s a small place and there are not many seats. If you eat in you’ll need to bring your empty plates & rubbish to the counter and pay before you leave.

The best empanadas we have tasted in Buenos Aires. The pastry is amazing and the filling is just genius. I personally loved them all but the best was the Choclo as it is slightly sweet.

Great empanadas! They have been there since 1977. Spicy beef and chicken were great. The wife had a veggie one and also liked it very much. Enjoy!

La Cocina had been on my list to visit during the 4 days my wife and I were in Buenos Aires, and we finally got a chance on day 4. Great place to grab a quick lunch and some tasty empanadas, a local beer and a glass of inexpensive wine. La Cocina is a small place (maybe seats 15 people max), and very charming. I tried 4 different empanadas (Carne suave, carne picante, pollo, ricotta y jamon) but the Carne ones were my favorite. Loved the flavors. The Owners are really nice and attentive. A must visit, I'd recommend visiting this location (but there are several in the city).

Cute little shop with loyal local visitors as well as foreigners. The empanadas de pollo were delicious and I really liked the potatoes and eggs inside. The empanadas de ricotta y jamón were a bit too much cheese. It was a bit over the top for me but still delicious. I get why it’s so popular.
