Trakai

Trakai is a town in southeastern Lithuania, west of Vilnius, the capital. Part of the Trakai Historical National Park, Trakai Island Castle is a 14th-century fortress in the middle of Lake Galvė. Once a home to Lithuania’s grand dukes, it now houses the Trakai History Museum, with archaeological objects, coins and crafts. On the lake’s southern shore are the stone ruins of the Trakai Peninsula Castle.

Restaurant
Senoji Kibininė is a top restaurant in Trakai, Lithuania, offering European and Central European cuisines. Visitors praise the attentive and friendly staff, as well as the delicious Lithuanian cold beetroot soup. The restaurant is known for its traditional Eastern European food and is a must-visit spot for those looking to explore authentic local flavors.
Very friendly staff. Food price is affordable and the tastes are genuine. For 4 things ordered in the picture, it cost less than 12€ in total. The restaurant has the traditional wooden interior. If you want to try something Lithuanian, this is the place to go to. Probably save your money by skipping those fancy restaurants in Vilnius.

The town of Trakai is known for its picturesque island castle and Kibinine, a baked wheat flour pastry with a filling of meat, vegetables, or cheese. Senoji Kibinine has locations all throughout the city selling these delicacies, as well as a cozy restaurant catering to visitors. We tried the Mutton and the Venison Kibinine, both of which were filled with ground meat mixed with onions and spices. The soup of the day was a creamy spinach soup topped with croutons; and the Roast Pork with Mushroom Sauce was a pounded, lightly breaded pork cutlet topped with a creamy mushroom sauce and served with a simple salad of greens, radicchio, red bell peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. While the restaurant was a nice setting to eat, the food was simply not fresh, and most of the items had been sitting around for a while and were simply reheated (including the Kibinine).

Must try Lithuanian “kibinai” when you in Trakai. Fresh, handmade and super delicious! Highly recommended 😄
Jolita Val — Google review
Would recommend eating Kibinai only, those are always the same across the board. Chicken broth average. Potato pancakes were not made in a traditional way - only finely grated, no salt and served raw, had to send back. Menus feel dirty and really need a good wipe. Interior pretty good, but to match it, the music should be changed for more authentic feel.

We arrived in Trakai on Saturday, a day off, there were a lot of people, but there were places. I was very pleased that there is a roof, the shade saves from the terrible heat. The place itself is very authentic, the employees are nice and generally the service is good. I advise Russian-speakers to turn on the translator, as the waiters understand only English and Lithuanian. The food pleasantly pleased, they took only cold borscht and traditional kibinai pies. I advise everyone to come here.

First time trying kibinai and I was recommended this place by my Lithuanian friend. The recommendation was accurate, the place was authentic and had a really good atmosphere. The food was delicious and the beer was cold. Just what we needed on a hot day after visiting the nearby castle.

Very nice food and staff! A nice cozy place to eat. Really enjoyed it.

The Castle in Trakai is amazing, but let's be honest, I come here for the Kibinai... And there are "MANY" Kibinai places in Trakai, but this is the place if you want the best tasting traditional old school original! They have been doing it for many years...and they KNOW what they are doing! They are the true "OG"! I always have to come here when I travel to Lithuania! Also when my wife introduced me to this place(years ago) she told me about a server that I would meet, he was always there, always dressed very proper, and was a staple of the establishment. I got to meet him a few times and he definitely lived up to the legend. I don't know what happened to him, but I always think of him when we come here.
Scott Titus — Google review
Service is average, however that's typical for Lithuania. None smiles, no one asked if all was tasty if we need anything else. The place in the garden was empty, but I was not allowed to seat where I wanted. Apparently tables were under reservation, but there were no sign on tables. While we ate none came to any of those reserved tables .

Very good authentic Lithuanian food. Very tasty Kibinine ❤️ and fried bread with cheese.

Very good option if what you want is to taste typical Lithuanian food. The service is impeccable, the place very beautiful and welcoming. The prices are the cheapest I have found in my trip.

Terrible food. The kabinai are dry and unseasoned. The soup in bread okay but very tiny, the „bread sticks“ some dried up supermarket snacksticks we thought it a joke. The chicken roast a poorly fried something… do not eat here.

We ran accidentally in this place and didn’t expect much. We had Lithuanian cold beetroot soup for the first time and we really liked it! The staff is very attentive and friendly. A place to definitely come back and to recommend to others!

One of my favourite places in Lithuania. It has it all. Great authentic Lithuanian food, beautiful views, great service and affordable prices. We have visited this place many times. Whatever we tried, it was always up to very good standards, delicious and fresh. My personal favourite though, is the chicken kibinai. I cannot wait to go there again! Absolutely incredible place.

Restaurant
We had a delightful visit to Kybynlar on a bustling Sunday afternoon. Despite the crowded terraces, the staff remained busy and attentive. We were promptly greeted after finding a table and our drinks arrived quickly. The menu warned that certain dishes may take longer as they are prepared to order, but the wait was worth it. The portions were generous, the ingredients tasted flavorful and fresh, and the meals themselves were delicious.
A very popular spot to eat! It was a warm, inviting stop for lunch. The chicken dumpling soup was delicious as was the chicken kybyn. Absolutely wonderful!
Shawn & Jeff Marsteller — Google review
We had this soup/stew specialty. I got the chicken and my wife had the beef version. The beef soup was pretty tasty but the chicken version was quite flavourless and more like hot water with a little bit of chicken flavour- quite disappointed with that.

The service did they best, just there is not enough of them so prepare to wait. The food was excellent, the view and the atmosphere amazing. Minus for the toilet where the toilet seat is missing, a pity for the overall experience but I don't want to remove the star.

I am not big fan of Kybins but the ones I've tried here was something special. Best kybins for sure in Trakai. The ones with lamb were awesome! Super view to the lake from the terrace.

This was a nice place to get something to eat after visiting the castle. It was by far not the best food I have ever had, but food is more than just food... it is memories, atmosphere and mood Today this was a 4 star restaurant.. the food was good and warm, the beer was chilled and foamy, the atmosphere and sun was really nice

The best restaurant of Karaim cuisine in Trakai) This is a brief trip to the Karaim culture and everyday life. Decided to dine in due to the multiple positive reviews on Google maps. It is located not far from the Trakai castle. The base of the Karaim kitchen is meat and paste dishes so I decided to try one of them. I ordered the local dish one of the most famous non-ritual dishes known not only to Karaims is kybyn (pl. kybynlar). It is a leavened paste cake having the form of a half-moon and lamb or beef filling; it is baked in the oven or on the tin. I tasted one kybin with lamb filling and another one with curd and herbs. Both dishes were unique, delicious and overall perfect. So delicious taste is guaranteed as well as pleasant prices and good service. The staff will help you to choose something between traditional Karaim dishes. My recommendation!

Lovely experience! We visited on a busy Sunday in the early afternoon. Both terraces were nearly full and all staff looked busy throughout. Despite how busy it was we were greeted quickly after finding a table, and drinks arrived promptly. Our food order was taken quickly too. The menu warns that some dishes can take longer due to being prepared to order. The food took a little while to come but it was worth the wait. The portions are good size, the ingredients tasted fresh and the dishes were delicious. The service was friendly and relatively quick especially considering what a busy time it was. Would definitely come back!

🍴 I recently visited the Kybynlar restaurant and overall, my experience was good. 💡 The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. 🍽️ However, there was one issue - some of the dishes took a long time to come out, about 60 minutes. 🕰️ While I understand that good food takes time to prepare, waiting for an hour was a bit excessive. Otherwise, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. 🤤 I particularly enjoyed the flavors and spices in the dishes. 💭 In conclusion, I would recommend the Kybynlar restaurant for its food and atmosphere, but be prepared to wait a bit longer for some dishes. 🍴

Bona Pizzeria is a fantastic eatery with an incredible vista of the castle and river. The service provided by the waitstaff is exceptional, and the ambiance is warm and cozy. The pasta served here is delightful, featuring delectable mushrooms that add to its flavor. The only minor drawback is the lack of Spotify premium, resulting in intermittent ads during songs. However, this does not detract from the overall wonderful experience at Bona Pizzeria.
The place is wonderful! The view of the castle just perfect! Interesting choices of tea. Pizza and small traditionals pies (I don't remember the name) was delicious!!! Bravo for good work!!

We visited during Christmas holidays especially to taste the local « kibinai » (dough filled with eg chicken/mushroom or pork or lamb). Kibinai were good, service was fluent and view on the castle and lake very attractive as decor. Seems to be even more attractive to visit in summer time while also enjoying lake activities or visit to the castle.

Great food with even greater views to enjoy 😊👍 We were greeted and served by friendly staff, kudos to one of their staff Laura for being an awesome waitress ✌️

Cool place and nice service and waitresses. Beautiful view on the castle and on the river. Pasta was great, I think that there were mushrooms in aswell which were absolutely delicious. Only kind of funny thing was that the eating place did not have spotify premium and the ads were playing once in a while between songs :D .

Nice view. Good price for Kibinas. Dogs alowed. Nice staff. Warm and cozy.

This restaurant is oriented to one-day tourists, which do not come back to Trakai, so they are serving overpriced, poor quality food made of frozen ingredients, just because they have good view to the castle. More oriented to quick profits than quality. Worst pizzas in Trakai.

Ordered one stronger coffee with milk and another with almond milk take away. Waited for the order ~10 min and then asked the waitress at the bar for an update. Espresso machine wasn't even used, the employees forgot about the order. ~5 min later the youngest junior employee brought me a double espresso without milk. I politely asked again the waitress at the bar whether this is how they make coffee with milk. The waitress then asked a different employee to make the order. Another 5 min later the waitress comes out of a different room with our ordered coffees, but bizarrely without using the Espresso machine at the main bar(perhaps there's a different one back, but questionable). I didn't ask whether one coffee was made stronger since it already took too long. There were 4-5 waiting staff in total with less than a half filled restaraunt and short queue for take away. At least 2 employees were regularly idling or shuffling aimlessly while my order was forgotten and later incorrectly fulfilled as well as tables inside and outside piling with dirty dishes from multiple tables. The staff in general was polite and well mannered so at least there's that, but service was too incompetent, disorganised and unproductive. While ordering I've noticed that both the steamer was very dirty with burned milk and the waitress using the machine was poorly tampering the espresso without appropriate pressure and without consideration for leveling of the coffee or it spilling out and not cleaning the steamer in between use. Poor work ethic, incompetence and lack of concern for coffee preparation is expected and a regular sight in non specialised low to mid range restaraunts, but the absolute absence concerning hygiene is very unpleasant and made me regret ordering the coffee. The management and staff need to both improve in monitoring the restaraunt and delivering better service. I will not be visiting this establishment in the future which is a shame since the location and interior are really good, but without better staff I know that the visit will be regrettable. I payed for the coffee ~7.4 EUR, but the service was worth 2 EUR max.

Lovely view, great ambiance and tranquility. Seems like you always can have a table on terrace with spectacular view of Traku castle. Prices are very moderated, well aligned with touristic places. Definitely, highly recommended place to stop by for a coffee or quick bite.
Arturs Mons — Google review
For some reason online order did not go through, even though it was auto confirmed and paid for. Bonus points for preparing the food extra fast AFTER the inquiry, although an apology for one hour wait time would have been helpful too. Pizzas were cheesy, but the taste was not special in any way. Just a simple pizza with a chance of not getting your order done.

Perfect spot to sit and eat, beautiful views, in my opinion better in the Winter, so much going on. Great place to refuel before or after a nice walk. Pizza was great, Tea and Coffee good quality, 4 star as the soup I ordered never showed up but appeard on the bill, waitress wasn't really bothered either....

Do not get the salad, total rip off. It said it had hummus and there was seriously less than a teaspoon full! The only good thing was the view.

4th of Feb was national day of Cepelinai, some other restaurants invited elderly people to have some cepelinai as a meal, restaurants treat, for free. This place posted a picture (which was already removed) on their FB page, saying they joined this good deed by treating elderly people at no cost as well, however, there was no such thing at their place, random picture with grannies is from season when it was warm - currently we have below 0's celsius temps, deep winter, no greenary nor leafs on the trees, look at grannies shoes. Their post removal from FB page proves how low this business can go and where their values stand at.

Precioso. When you feel the pressure to leave as soon as you have finished your ordered meals and can't spend some time chatting with colleagues while finishing your vine or drinking a table water because staff has no other company after us - visit leaves mixed feelings. As you are valuable customer only if you constantly ordering and paying. The place is amazing but staff is so so.

Firstly I'd like to say this hotel is above and beyond expectations, nothing is to much trouble for reception staff , the connected pizza restaurant was superb , with smiling ( which is unusual here ) English speaking staff , I rented a private spa area , well all I can say is wow , in London u would pay £400-£500 to rent a spa of that size and In superb condition, we paid 59 euro for 90 mins , mind blown , the view is out of this world ( like sat on the waterfront, facing Traku castle 🏰!!!!! Rooms well furnished, proper beds !! Not 2 singles which for some reason seems to be normal for married couples in this country!! Parking is limited but there are friendly locals who rent spaces within a minute or 2 walk ( I paid 10 euro for 24 HR , in UK it's £12.60 for 6 hrs ) My only complaint, and to be honest it's hard to find a complaint is that 16.80 for a double jack Daniels and coke is a bit much , but when u factor everything else in its fantastic value , Thank you hotel Apvalaus Stalo Klubas for a memorable stay , I would genuinely live there if I could , thanks 👍👍👍👍

We went to the restaurant for the special occasion and although the views were amazing, service (initially) fairly quick unfortunately some of the food dishes were disappointing. The waiter forgot the sauce for the duck dish, risotto was slightly undercooked, all steaks were under-cooked for 4 people (even for the tables nearby), fish ice cream was inedible (I always try weird ice cream flavours but in this case it was extremely fishy and overwhelming). Then we were left just with one waitress - there were only 3 tables but she seemed to struggle and we had to wait for ages to be served.

The location couldn't be better and some of the staff are really fantastic, I've had some very good customer service which is saving my opinion of it. Also it's quite reasonably priced. But this place is disappointing.. the interior has some charm but is incredibly tired and falling apart. In my room, the tv doesn't work properly, the fridge wasn't on and i got locked in the toilet when the handle fell off (thank goodness i had my phone!). Then there are the spectacular and weird own goals..Breakfast doesn't start until 10am.. really? this is hard to understand! Reception are gone by 6pm so you have to call an emergency number if your room key stops working (mine did, though not discovered at night fortunately). And let yourself into the hotel with a code like an airbnb. There are no chairs in the room so if you want to work you think "great, I'll go to the beautiful and quiet library".. no you won't! Guests are not allowed, it has to be booked as a function room. So it sits empty and unused all day long and probably most nights too. You can't get food beyond 9 or 10pm as the restaurant doesn't have an exact closing time (it depends on how busy it is) so you are never sure and there is no room service. The spa is charming but can't be used by guests as they wish, it has to be booked and paid for as an entire room. That said, I'm conflicted on this as it's not tremendously expensive to book, generally available and it's nice to have the place to yourself. I'd love to buy this hotel.. It would be so easy to double it's profits overnight and it's popular thanks to it's location and these things are so easily fixable. And there are some very good staff. But if does feel like a wasted opportunity.. frustrating really.

The restaurant BONA Lounge offers a beautiful panorama, pleasant atmosphere, and a sense of calm. It seems that getting a table on the terrace with a breathtaking sight of Traku castle is always possible. The prices are reasonable and in line with other tourist destinations. This establishment comes highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a cup of coffee or have a quick meal.

The music was too loud. It was also too warm inside. The prices are high, the food was nice though! A glass of wine is 5 euro and there was a hair in the glass. The employees are young girls who looked a bit lost, forgot cutlury. We went outside because of the loud music and the warmth inside. Things could be improved! The view is wonderful!!

Horrible service. We waited 20minutes for the menu, then another 35 minutes for just drinks. Had to go to ask if the drinks are comming at all (after 35 min just to get a drink!). Then our waitress forgot about our order all togeher. So after more then an hour without drinks we lost hope to get them and the food we ordered was long lost too. To sum up - did not get drinks and food. Left. HORRIBLE. I have never left such a rewiev but this is beyond. Wait staff is very rude, slow and unprofessional.
