Arriondas

Arriondas is a village in the Spanish municipality of Parres, Asturias. It is located where the River Piloña joins the river Sella, in a narrow valley. The convergence of rivers makes it an important place for fishing. Wikipedia.

Friendly, easy and so much fun! The company was so easy to get to and the pick up process was super easy. They provided a wetsuit and life jacket and it was €3 to get water shoes. They also provide a tub to carry any food/belongings with you in the kayak. Highly recommended

Facilities, access, general amenities: very good. Great even. They have showers, rent out anything you might need, the car park is literally 10 metres away from the entrance... Ignoring the fact that my safety vest smelt absolutely terrible... Overall good service. But I can sincerely only give them a two star review because the ramp they use to push users down from the meadow into the river is incredibly unsafe, and the staff member who "helped" us down today actually made sure we hit the stone wall on the way down, before we hit the water. One of us hit the wall so hard, they sustained a bloody injury to the leg, literally seconds after having started the activity. We were rudely pushed down the ramp, no warning, no making sure we were going down at an appropriate speed or safely... When we later told them what had happened and asked them to please make sure this didn't happen to anyone else, they simply offered a surprised reaction... Not fun, hitting your knee against a wall because a staff member pushed you roughly down a wooden ramp. Shocked would be the appropriate word to describe how we felt. :(

Excellent expérience of canoe with this organisation. All went very well: we were able to be picked up very quickly after our journey then we had a shower which was amazing. Great experience for everyone.

This was extremely busy. We initially went to the wrong company as there are many companies based in the same area. It was not easy to tell them apart. It was very difficult to find the entrance and we could not have done it without the directions from a nearby company. Parking was almost full when we arrived which was about midday. There was a lot of queuing involved for check-in, safety briefing and getting the kayak. The queue to check-in was the same whether you booked in advance or not. Many kayaks were in the river making it hard to have your own space, a bit like bumper cars - more than 100 kayaks in the river at the same time which was not quite what we had in mind. The water is shallow and sometimes you have to get out to push the kayak. I am not sure if this is because of the season as we were there in the summer. We got out at the first exit which was 6km down the river. There was a delay for the bus back to the carpark/site. I am sure if it is usually this busy.

I just had an amazing day with my family! We went canoeing 16km down river Sella on a triple canoe which was 4 hours of pure fun! And then we went to explore the spectacular caves of Pando guided by our friendly and expert guide Pepe! Stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and kayaking on the same day for a convenient price - I can't recommend this enough!

We had a great kayaking experience with the RanaSella team. The staff is extremely professional and helpful. They make sure everyone in the group feels comfortable. The tour guides are knowledgeable and really good at what they do. We definitely recommend the team to all the adrenaline junkies.

O yes! What a trip. The start is a shoot from the high bank straight down into the river! Exciting moment! Good equipment and instruction. Good logistics, no long wait to be picked up from where we chose to paddle to. Nice river. Clear, clean water.

Beautiful area, but full of drunk people throwing rubbish everywhere. It's better in the off-season. Regulations around waste and numbers of people need immediate attention. This company seemed fine except for the guys who launched us - they were really unfriendly. Good parking set-up.

It was a fantastic experience! We visited Cangas Aventura in Arriondas, Asturias, as part of our vacation and tried kayaking on the Sella River. The beginning was amazing with a slide that literally threw us into the water, and the stunning views. The whole adventure was incredibly fun, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend it for all adventurous spirits!🥰🥰

We had an amazing experience here. First day we went climbing. Kids (10 and 11) loved it and Alex was a fantastic guide. Next day we went canoeing down the Sella river. Also very nice, but very busy (a little too busy). Great organization this company for sure!

We had a wonderful time participating in the Descenso del Sella adventure sports and horseback riding activities offered by Los Cauces in Asturias. The overall experience was enjoyable, with a good number of participants and efficient organization. However, we did have some concerns regarding the lack of social distancing on the bus due to COVID-19, which made us feel uneasy.
Very fun day on the river thanks to Los Cauces! Quick transfer to put in and back to the town after the excursion. Friendly and informed staff. The office in Ribadesella has dressing rooms/bathrooms for after the descenso to change. Get there early because parking can be difficult- might be worth it parking more towards the Guardia Civil or Bus Station and walking (less than 10 minutes and saves you the headache of driving around!). At the bus station drop in for a pincho de tortilla!!

Very bad experience with the unkind persons. Not helpful and just sit in the car on arrival while they watch you frolic dragging the kayaks onto the side

(Translated by Google) We had a great time. All very well, there were quite a few people, but quite fast. We did not like it, that many people go on the bus without distance and with this COVID it is quite scary. We did it with a dog and great, we didn't put a vest on him because they didn't recommend it to us if our dog knew how to swim, but they will charge it at € 3 and in other companies they give it free. (Original) Lo pasamos genial. A very good company if you want to do "la bajada del río Sella"(going down Sella river with a canoe). It offers you the chance of stopping at two points of the route (8 and 12km) and has an overall very good service including changing rooms and car park

(Translated by Google) An incredible experience. Very friendly and easy to book. They put a video explaining the basic rules to be able to go well in the canoe. The oar, compared to others, seemed less dynamic to me, which made it more difficult to row and maneuver, but without any problem other than a little more effort. Material taken care of both canoes, paddles, vests and an airtight boat (nothing got wet and we capsized a couple of times, leaving the canoe upside down), that if the return van seemed small to me and we were going quite tight, but it is 15min. Very good price compared to other companies. We took it on the day of the promo and it was €17/p. And taking into account that it is one of those that leave first and ends later, more kms are covered. Of course, it would be nice if there was a stop between the first and the end, since after the first one comes the most complex rapids and you can feel tired. Careful changing rooms, spacious to shower and change after the experience. Definitely recommended. It is wonderful to walk the Sella and see the whole landscape.

Once there, when you see the volume of people, you imagine that you are going to be there for a long time but they do everything right away. All the staff are attentive and efficient, but it is necessary to highlight the work of those who manage the canoes, secure the container with your belongings, and get you ready on the ramp: some real stars. (Translated by Google) We were at the beginning of September with another couple and we chose Canoas El Moyau to do the descent, it was the first time we did this activity and we really had a great time. Before starting, they play a video explaining the types of routes and you pick up your lunch and vest. Once you have all this, you go to the canoe. The beginning is quite cool since it seems like you are in an attraction, there are several points where you can stop for lunch and if you want you can buy a soft drink or beer and I think you could also buy some food. Finally we did the intermediate route and the experience was quite good except that we had a capsize in a curve, the current turned our canoe and overturned it, it was super funny. Once the tour is finished, they take you back to the starting point, where you return the vest and the bucket where they gave lunch. Additionally, the facilities have changing rooms where you can change and take a shower. The only problem is that there was no soap in the showers or in the sink, so the shower without soap didn't help much.

Restaurante El Corral del Indianu is a stylish venue in Arriondas, known for its creative twist on Asturian cuisine. The restaurant offers tasting menus with innovative dishes like crab-flavored beans and deconstructed pote. The tastefully decorated restaurant also provides a limited "a la carte" menu for those seeking a lighter meal while still experiencing Michelin star service.
A beautiful restaurant, with lovely decor. Staff are extremely nice and what can I say; the food is tremendous and out of this world. The chef is truly a culinary genius, providing a roller coaster ride for the palate.

Great meal, service was good. I'd definitely go back.
David Lowther — Google review
My 152nd Michelin restaurant experience. At El Corral del Indianu, you have to respect what is going on here, as the chef clearly goes for it. Ingredient combinations that shouldn't make sense are plunged together as if concocted my a mad scientist. While some of them really don't work (hence the 4 stars instead of 5), enough of them do, and Id rather dine 10 times out of 10 at a place where a chef is constantly pushing the boundaries than a place where a chef no longer (or never) cared. The price point of 91 euros for around 15 bites also feels like a steal, if only they had enough servers (less than five serve the entire restaurant, leading to overly long delays bringing dishes or getting your check). So overall not quite worthy of 5 stars due to some taste misses and lack of servers, but still worth a visit considering the value.

During our travels through the North of Spain, we had an exceptional dining experience at Casa Marcial. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, even running to us with umbrellas when it started raining in the car park. The interior design was minimalist yet charming, with a Scandinavian touch and lovely local foliage arrangements. Every dish was beautifully presented on unique plates, accompanied by fresh silver cutlery with each course. They also offered a cider tasting that perfectly complemented the cuisine, all of which was produced locally. As someone with professional cooking experience, I was highly impressed by the chef's skills and artistic presentation. The food was truly outstanding, and each of the 20 courses provided an extraordinary experience. I especially admired the chef's dedication to using local ingredients, creating a culinary work of art. I'm already looking forward to returning to Casa Marcial to relish this delightful dining experience once again.

PERFECT BLEND OF TRADITION AND AVANTGARDE. Casa Marcial is run by chef Nacho Manzano and his sisters. They transformed their parents' humble eatery into a two-Michelin-star restaurant. Its scenic rural setting provides a stunning visual context for Nacho's cuisine, which is firmly grounded in Asturian traditions. His creations are not all that experimental but rather coherent and personal. There are two menus, which differ in size and concept. Prices are moderate, given the restaurant's superb quality. The longer menu costs €165 per person, and the shorter one €110. Wine pairing adds €65 and €50, respectively. For dinner, there's also a lighter menu for €80. While some dishes are more convincing than others, the overall experience is amazing. And the desserts are out of this world.

The waitress we had was incredibly nice and patient and the food was great! It seems harder and harder to find that. Simple restaurants that serve quality food with kind service.

(Translated by Google) The place is very charming, it has an indoor dining room in several rooms and also a fairly spacious covered outdoor terrace. It has two menus, classic and Asturian, where you can taste a good fabada or Asturian stew with its compango and main courses such as stewed goat or scallops with Cabrales. The menu is extensive, with good cachopos, salads or scrambled eggs. Typical Asturian and homemade desserts, cookie cake and cheese and shallot cake. The waiters are super friendly. A 10 out of 10.

(Translated by Google) We stopped by chance on the way to our destination and when we take the same route it will be a "mandatory stop" now. Very nice place where it mixes the typical Asturian with the modern in its decoration, super clean, fast and good service and exquisite food. I'm going to put some photos😁, sorry if the dishes are not complete but you can see what was there. I have eaten fabada like this in few places except at my house Exquisite everything (Original) Paramos por casualidad de camino a nuestro destino y cuando hagamos la misma ruta será " parada obligatoria" ya.

Brilliant. Fantastic setting, friendly staff and really good value for money. Menu is limited but unusual in comparison to most Spanish restaurants in the area. Always well cooked. Out of the melee. Try it.

Spanish restaurant
Gigi's Barrel, a renowned restaurant in Arriondas, is highly recommended. The establishment offers incredible and innovative cuisine that is always fresh. Gigi, the owner, provides exceptional service and ensures a memorable dining experience. A visit to Asturias would be incomplete without enjoying at least three meals here. With options like grilled chipirones, zamburinas, and papa 3 salsas, patrons are guaranteed a delightful culinary adventure.
I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. It's a must if you visit Arriondas. Awesome, fresh, creative food. Gigi is the best. Every time I'm in Asturias I have to eat here at least 3 times. You can't go wrong having lunch or dining here. I recommend: Chipirones a la plancha, zamburiñas, papa 3 salsas...

Well-done for a smoothly run business and delicious heart-warming food. Tried the menu del día as well as a marisco dish and both were delicious, home-cooked with attention and soul. The wine that came with the menu was decent, all for a good and fair price. We left all smiles, satisfied and with a full belly!
