Lisse

Lisse is a town in the Netherlands, southwest of Amsterdam. It’s known for the Keukenhof garden, which has millions of spring-flowering bulbs. Nearby is the 17th-century Keukenhof Castle. In the town center, the Museum de Zwarte Tulp explores the region’s history and the development of tulip varieties. Outside of town, pedestrian and bike paths wind around flower fields in the country’s tulip-growing region.

Nature & Parks
Keukenhof, also known as the Garden of Europe, is a vast 19th-century park which opens annually from mid-March to mid-May. It displays a breathtaking array of Dutch spring flowers and boasts around 7 million flower bulbs planted each year. Located in Lisse, it is one of the world's largest flower gardens and attracts approximately 1.4 million visitors during its eight-week season.
Beautiful gardens perfectly manicured lawns with great floral beds such vibrancy of colours and the smell is magnificent as you walk round is so intense, the restaurant's are very clean and staffed well and incredibly helpful, the lavatories are very clean and well maintained. The pavilions are well laid out and a festival for the eyes. Definitely worth coming a glorious day out.

Beautiful place! A sea of flower colors! 😍🌷🌱🌸 It's worth seeing! The park is large, with many beautiful locations. Lots of places to eat, playground, mini zoo, goats, sheep..🐑🐐🐇🐔🦆 Souvenir shops. We had a wonderful day, count on walking for 3-4.5 hours to see everything. 😁

Words are not enough to explain the beauty of this place. Also beauty of this place can't be captured in photos or videos. We just have to feel it. It is a beautiful Tulip garden in keukenhof which is opened only for certain period of time in between March to May. It was our pleasure to visit Netherlands exactly during this time and had a chance to visit Tulip garden. Well spent a day in this garden, lot of Tulips, picturesque places, high points for, kids play area, photography spots, what not, I feel minimum stay of 5-6 hours is required to feel the joy of this place
Snehaja Chunduru — Google review
Go early to beat the crowds, and you will have a truly wonderful experience. We found the gardens simply breathtaking. Every direction you turn is another picture-perfect view. The smell was phenomenal. The shop was lovely and not too expensive. Worth the visit. Truly a must see!

Wow, wow, wow. We spent six hours here, trying to do it all. There was a surprise after surprise and there were so many awesome photo opportunities. There were indoor gardens with beautiful artwork, a maze to a tower, petting zoo, boats, windmill that we could go in, great food, lots of shops, and so much more. So much beauty all around and although it was so packed, we really enjoyed our time there. Expected to spend 2-3 hours, but were there foe 6!
Monette Eames — Google review
Such an amazing place. Displays the beauty of God's creation. Spectacular array of tulips and orchids. The colours are amazing. The place has many places to sit and just enjoy the scenery. Cafes and food trucks are located at various locations. There's also a playground for kids.

Our visit to Keukenhof Gardens was an absolute delight! We dedicated an entire day to exploring the meticulously landscaped gardens, which were a feast for the eyes with their breathtaking displays of tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths. The vibrant colors and fragrant blooms created an enchanting atmosphere. In addition to the captivating beauty of Keukenhof, our stay in Lisse provided the perfect base for further exploration. Venturing beyond the gardens, we discovered an expansive canvas of tulip fields stretching over a 50-mile radius. Renting bicycles allowed us to immerse ourselves in this sea of colors, making each day an adventure filled with natural wonders. The combination of our time at Keukenhof Gardens and the surrounding tulip fields made for a truly magical and memorable experience. After visiting Lisse a few times now, I can suggest best time to be here is between mid April and mid May.

There are no words that can describe how beautiful this place is💚 gorgeous and colorful flowers, they smell amazing too, I felt like I was in the secret garden, the more I wandered there , the more I discovered new and beautiful scenes of flowers and waterfalls. Make sure to check the weather, because the weather was awful when I visited it (end of April)
arwa bariya — Google review
Amazing park, beautiful even with cloudy skies or under the pouring rain (and there some indoor attractions here!) Thousands of sorts of tulips, all incredibly diverse and beautiful. Themed installations. Plan to spend several hours here, as there are so many beautiful spots. Several fast-food options.
Evgeny — Google review
Went here early April and the flowers weren’t fully bloomed yet. This place is lovely but it can be packed quite well. The place is nice and big and provides a great work. Worth €15 per person just to relax and do tulip sight seeing.
Jcx — Google review
Some really beautiful displays of thousands of tulips plus other bulbs and complimentary plantings. We booked a time slot awhile ago and recommendations were to go early to avoid the crowds but this is misleading as there were a lot of people booked in at the opening and many bus tours. Just keep in mind this is an event more than a traditional garden visit and you won't stress about the crowd. It was still a peaceful atmosphere and really lovely.
D&C Lambert — Google review
We had the opportunity to visit and wow was it busy! The lines to get in were very long but moved quickly. Great washrooms and nice maps to follow on your self guided tour. Take your time and enjoy. The gardens are beautiful and immaculate. I had no idea how many varieties of tulips there were until the day I visited. So interesting. GO HERE and enjoy. Try the Friet Bus in the parking lot! Great fries!

We visited this wonderful park on May 4, 2023. Tickets were bought in advance online, there was a huge queue at the entrance (they pass quickly). They took a map for free at the entrance, it helped us to navigate. The territory is very large, the legs got tired, they rested on benches or cafes. For children there is a large playground + mini zoo. Gorgeous park with lots of different colors. We went to exhibitions with flower arrangements according to the season. Lots of beautiful photo locations. Mill overlooking the tulip fields. We arrived at lunchtime and left at closing time. You can bring food and a picnic blanket with you. I advise everyone to visit this wonderful place and more than once!❤️
Halyna Bondarenko — Google review
Best tulip gardens in the world. Opened for only a few weeks in the year in the summer. Go early to avoid crowds. Huge queue. Take the bicycle to cover the area. It is huge and worth visiting.
Samar Sahoo — Google review
An amazing experience. I was there in May 2023. The tulip fields are simply amazing, even despite the crowds of people. Lots of charming paths between blooming tulips, daffodils and other flowers.
Agnieszka Rybczyńska — Google review
Arrived early, and did a full circuit of the gardens. The colors and arrangements are spectacular. There are lookout spots around the gardens where you can see the farmer tulip fields all around. It's a very beautiful and peaceful place. Also saw an old automated organ playing a full brass band. Was very entertaining. Highly recommend a visit during Spring.
Roberto Faria — Google review
Amazing. We have visited twice. We visited end of March the first time and the flowers were starting to bloom. The second time, we came end of April and 97% were in bloom. Both visits were fantastic. Lovely to stroll and wander around at your own pace. So picturesque. Plenty of shops to buy souvenirs and some bulbs. Would highly recommend to others.
Chloe Galvin — Google review
Impressive collection and presentation of tulips. The area is very large, you can easily spend a day. Try to book an early slot, as it gets very crowded. Plenty of food options available throughout the park; playground, petting zoo and a maze will delight kids.
Alexander Louis — Google review
Fantastic natural park for those who like nature and especially tulips. Many and varied colors. We liked a lot. All logistics, transport from the airport, purchasing tickets online are very easy. As it is only open for a little over a month, you can expect a lot of people, but it's enough for everyone.
Paulo Nunes — Google review
Wonderful gardens with an incredible display of spring bulbs. Tulip extravaganza! Crowded even at 10am on a Saturday in mid-April, extremely crowded by noon. Will definitely visit again next year, although will try midweek rather than a weekend. Photos below don't do justice to the 6+ million bulbs they plant each year!
Robert Mills (FissionGuy) — Google review
This is a must visit during tulip season. It is large but you can just wander around and you’ll be amazed at every turn. They do have very informative tours as well. Public transport there and back is simple. Buy tickets ahead if you can but otherwise they are available when you arrive.

Guests rave about the exceptional hospitality of hosts Michiel and Maryse, as well as the top-notch facilities. Visitors can also enjoy scenic views of daffodil fields from their rooms.
Michiel and Maryse are wonderful hosts for B&B! Our room had a view to the field of daffodils! The bathroom had a great bathtub to soak for the night! We felt so comfortable and at home in the lovely room. I totally enjoyed the breakfast and especially the very good coffee! Anyone looking for a getaway or a lovely stay while visiting Keukenhof should really consider their B&B!

(Translated by Google) Michiel and Maryse go to great lengths to ensure that you lack nothing in this very complete B&B with Wellness. The tulip room felt very luxurious and was fully equipped. The spacious bathroom is extremely pleasant and the seat also gives you every opportunity to relax in your room. During our visit, the dahlias were also in beautiful bloom, which you can see from your room. TIPS: It is recommended to combine your visit to the B&B with a visit to the Keukenhof estate and enjoy walking the 'boot path', which can be completed in 2 hours. We chose to combine our private sauna outing with a sushi meal served by the owners. This was delicious and has a more than excellent price-quality ratio. We will definitely come back! Points of improvement? Little things that we also gave to the owners. (lighting in the wellness area) but not so much that it bothered me or my stay was perceived as less. Personally, I found the beds on the hard side, but someone else may find this very pleasant ;-). The refrigerator also makes a lot of noise (when you use it). But this could easily be disabled. Breakfast is tasty and varied, but the yogurt is served with a mango (probably from a can), which gives it a less flavor.

This is one of those reveiws where we loved it so much we don't want to let everyone in on the secret. But, in the end we want to share the amazing experience we had. I'm not sure my wife and I have ever had such an incredible stay as we did at Pergamo. We only had one night and it was wonderful. They are amazing hosts...truly amazing. The facilities are top notch. The ability to rent a bike was a huge score for us. We were able to bike around the region with no trouble. They gave us a route to choose that led us to Keukenof which was perfect. The spa was out of this world. Only thing we wanted was more time in it. Book a stay here...you won't regret it. One piece of advice, if you're going to be late, let them know. It makes things easier for them. We will be back.

Lovely & relaxing, in the middle of the tulip fields! We really enjoyed our stay at the Pergamo B&B. The infrastructures at the property as well as our room were very cozy. The privative wellness center with it's hot tub and sauna was very relaxing. A very nice break from our COVID routine. The location is ideal, especially if you plan for a bike ride in the tulip fields around the Keukenhof area. The Noordwijk beach, Lisse and Leiden are also within riding distance. The breakfast was great and there were some options to have dinner at the property (partnership with local restaurants). Both breakfast and dinner had vegetarian options. The owners are super friendly and helpful, they helped us to plan our bike trip with hints about things to see in the area.

Maryse was gracious enough to let me book a room at the B&B to get ready for my wedding day at the Keukenhof Castle with all my bridesmaids, and I cannot express enough how special her and her husband made us feel that day! Not only is the property and the rooms the most gorgeous B&B you could stay at overlooking the tulip fields, Maryse went above and beyond by making cute signs to welcome me and my bridesmaids on the special day. Thank you so much Maryse! I cannot wait to come back!

We loved this place ❤️ and the host - Maryse and Micheil were amazing. We stayed here for one night. We had special request which they helped us to organize. Rooms, surroundings , service and breakfast was good 😊. Place is surrounded by lots of tulip fields which was the main focus of our visit. We rented the cycles for them (there was issue with one of our cycles, Host were kind enough to bring us another cycle to the place where we were stuck). Commuting to this place depends on your mode of transportation. We took a bus- 361 from Schiphol airport to the Lisse(30 mins) and walked about 2kms to the location. Overall we loved the place. We will surely plan again. Highly recommend!!!

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Kasteel Keukenhof is a 17th-century mansion located on a country estate with gardens that host various events and concerts. The castle's name, which means 'kitchen', originates from the Countess of Hainaut who used the parks and nearby Keukenhof Gardens as her herb garden. With a rich history spanning over 400 years, visitors can explore the interior to learn about this history through portraits, furniture, monuments and more.
Big and beautiful forest that is surrounding the castle. You can walk and walk for a long time. There was no waiting at the entrance, no fee. There is a parking lot right in front and a nice terrace/cafe inside the garden. Lovely for a weekend walk! Especially when the tulip fields are blossoming.

Food was average. One star because the level of service is negligible. Particularly, the waiter was totally ignorant and never responded to request. When finally responded, he was very unhappy and was obvious that he could not be bothered with us. This totally ruined the experience. We will not go again.

As we sat down to have lunch, it started raining. We thought we would wait it out and that the rain would be over quickly. But it started raining even harder and before I could even blink my eyes or ask for help, a very kind waiter Noortje, grabbed my plate from the table and found us a table inside. She wanted to make sure we are really comfortable and for that we are thankful! The food and service generally was great! Thanks!

Lovely warm (also equipped with fan) b&b with nice private sunny rooftop, just on top of the delicous restaurant in the little square; tulips field is just in the doorstep, so nice walk after dinner; amazing fresh baked croissants and fresh orange juice for breakfast. You can also find supermarket in the corner. Don't miss the nice flower expo in front of the church

the owner didn't want to serve us, I couldn't understand the real reason, but he obviously doesn't like strangers, I'm really interested in what it would be like if we weren't white, he would probably incite dogs against us, I experienced something like that for the first time in the Netherlands for sure, I recommend bypassing in a wide arc

Food was OK, but waiting time was way too long in detriment of the whole experience (Had to spent almost 3h there, out of which 2h was waiting time). I could understand it in the first hour, when it was more busy, but not later when the restaurant was getting empty.

A relaxed and modern Restaurant / Bar with a great selection of Good Beer. The food is surprisingly good, especially given the setting during the evening and as an afternoon tea type of venue. The staff are friendly and attentive, making it a great place to eat out.
A nice relaxed Restaurant / Bar. Very open & friendly staff. The owner is there most days and looks after both his customers & staff well. A surprisingly good selection of Good Beer.... given this is primarily a Restaurant in the evening and a luck / afternoon tea type of a venue.

(Translated by Google) Nice cozy place in the center of Lisse. When you enter, the bar is central and from the shop you look at the open kitchen where they are cooking in a disciplined manner all evening. The interior is somewhat austere in character with a boring suspended ceiling, this aside. The menu is extensive for both lunch and dinner with a changing menu. The dishes are tasty and beautifully presented. Not a very extensive wine list, but sufficient choice. Service is friendly and available at the right time. Pleasant, lively place with tasty food.

Geweldig genoten. (Translated by Google) Placed a nice online order early this afternoon. Picked this up at the end of the day. Everything looked very neat. Spare ribs were delicious. The desserts ordered were also very good. 1 small thing, they only deliver in Lisse. That's a bit of a shame. For the rest it was great. Enjoyed it immensely.

It's a nice place to be at grand café A-muze in Lisse. Delicious freshly prepared food and friendly staff and owners. The location on 't Square' in Lisse is central and a stone's throw from various shops. The interior is comfortably furnished (recently renovated) and when the (heated) terrace is open you can sit outside. The quality of the food and drinks is good! For example, the orange juice is freshly squeezed and they serve 'Coca-Cola' instead of cheaper alternatives. The food tastes delicious and the service is fast. Highly recommended if you are in Lisse! (It is not without reason that the terrace is often the first to be full) ☺️

A-Muze in Lisse, onthouden !! 👍🏻 (Translated by Google) In general I am very critical of restaurants and especially of take-away, but this was delicious. Piping hot spare ribs, crispy fries and crispy lettuce - the delivery person didn't bring the right order the first time, so he had to come again, he came with a red blush on his cheeks (no need for that buddy, you solved it nicely) the second time it was done correctly with the entire order. I really just had a nice meal, and that doesn't happen often when I order something or go out to eat. I have also eaten at A-Muze a few times and every time it has been good, neat care, clean kitchen and tasty well thought out dishes. I don't often praise restaurants, but this is highly recommended. A-Muze in Lisse, remember!! 👍🏻

Very nice, clean, soft romantic as you would expect in the provincial towns. This is how you would like them. Old fashioned meets fresh modern. Very affordable, and tasty. Little mistakes were gracefully corrected. Friendly, without fake-ishness... Love these places. Good coffee, espresso, with whipped cream, candy/cookie and a drip to coffeliquor in the cream..Classy!

Overall friendly, but food quality and wait time for service were horrible. Would never go back and would not recommend. Details below. Had an early reservation for dinner at 5:30 as we have 2 young kids. Initial welcome was friendly. The waitress helped translate the menu, which was helpful. She recommended the turkey with mushroom sauce, which my wife ordered. Instead, I ordered the salmon. For the adult orders, the menu offered a 3 or 4 course option (in retrospect, a la carte would've been better). Soup and bread comes first, which was actually tasty and with sharing the soup with the kids everyone stayed occupied and happy. Our salads came next along with the kids' food. We ate the salads quickly, but then sat for well over an hour as we watched our kids slowly finish their meal and move into the restless stage. After finally inquiring about our entrees, they brought out 2 orders of turkey with mushroom sauce. When I pointed out that I ordered salmon, the waitress initially questioned my recall on the matter before asking if I wanted the order corrected. With 2 restless kids an hour and a half into dinner, I told her I'd just eat it. The turkey was clearly an artificial patty of sorts crafted from turkey parts and the mushroom sauce was eerily similar to condensed cream of mushroom soup. Very disappointing, particularly since the waitress had been pushing it. Now, both ours and the kids' orders came with dessert. Not much choice here. Kids got the "kid's ice cream", which was a premade portion of vanilla ice cream on a layer of cookie covered in rainbow sprinkles. Adults chose either vanilla with chocolate sauce or carmel ice cream. While I applaud the fact that they appeared to have made their own carmel sauce, it was clearly burned. As soon as the check finally made it out I threw down cash and we beat a hasty retreat. You won this round, Chefke's. There will not be another.

After spending the morning in Keukenhof Garden , I was looking for a lunch place that is outside tourist trapped Keukenhof. Found Chefke, about 10 min walk or 5 min drive from Keukenhof. Had a nice lunch on the outside table. Super friendly service. I ordered a sandwiches and the waitress added a small cup of soup for free. 👍 Other dinners was local people.

The Het Tussenstation Lisse is a small but cozy cafe that serves up delicious coffee and cakes. It's located near the tulip fields and the Keukenhof Gardens, making it a great spot to stop for a break on your travels.
everything is so good here. Food is very good and the service is excellent. this restaurant is just next to the train track and you can enjoy your food with a good view.

We have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The food was good (not spectacular but quite nice) and one of the staff members was super nice. However we had an unpleasant situation at the end of the meal with a second staff member: we asked for some desserts and the cake slices were big (we had seen them going to other tables). Our children wanted a piece of cake so we planned that they shared. When they brought us dessert we asked for a second plate for the kids to share and we were told we couldn't have the plate. This was completely unnecessary. We were a party of 5, we all had mains and adults had dessert to so this sounded completely ridiculous and spoiled the experience. What a shame

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Het Tussenstation, and I must say it was an incredible experience! This restaurant is housed in a historical building that used to be a train station, which adds a unique and charming atmosphere to the lunch experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. The breakfast and lunch options were both fantastic, with a wide variety of choices to suit all tastes. The quality of the food was exceptional, and it was evident that the ingredients were fresh and locally sourced. One of the great things about Het Tussenstation is its location. It's conveniently situated near Keukenhof, making it an excellent spot for a meal before or after a visit to the world-famous tulip gardens. And if you're looking for a place to bring your family, Het Tussenstation is perfect! There's a playground on-site, and the restaurant is family-friendly, with a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Overall, I highly recommend Het Tussenstation for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. The combination of great food, excellent service, historical charm, and family-friendliness make it a true gem in the area. Five stars all around!

A great find and a bit removed from city centers. It is in an old train station (and trains still pass today), but it gives it a vintage feel. Had the high tea, and while a bit non-traditional high tea, the food and overall experience was great. Would go back.

Very nice restaurant right next to the railway but not stressful at all because the trains are slick and quiet. Not so many menu choices but all tasty nontheless. The drinks are even more special and the coffe tastes awewsome Free parking 50 meters from here

Good environment and lovely place but horrible customer service. Wouldn't visit again. When assigned a seat the waiters got into a fit about this specific person not being allowed to assign seats. My grandmother has a hard time standing so the extra 15 minutes this took was horrible. I am a vegetarian and asked if a simple toasti could be done without the ham which was absolutely not possible even thought the current visitor total was a whopping number of 20 (persons, not groups). I had to order a snack dish of cheese rolls (which was not made for lunch) because all the other vegetarian dishes contained goats cheese which I have a hatred against. This was not the restaurant it's problem. It was the service which was bad, the menu had eggs on there and a different dish has cheese and bread. I don't get the problem that a simple bread with an egg and cheese is hard with only 20 customers and 4 waitresses...
