What a perfect location to this restaurant! Just by the lake and so awesome to sit inside, gorge on to some good food and enjoy snow outside. Food was scrumptious too. Loved the place for the view

I recommend this place, the oyster are very fresh, our steak and grilled shrimp are also nice. The location is superb by the lake, the service and staff are also very nice.

Plenty of tables but the restaurant believes in making guests wait outside! We waited 15m to just get the attention of a server, only to be told not now...meaning wait longer! They just kept walking around, not even telling us if they'd be with us shortly! A little bit of service and politeness can go a long way.

The food was tasty but unfortunately me and my friend got really sick right after and threw up everything.

The atmosphere was good, no annoying background music so our party could hear each other and the view on one side was good, a sunset behind a pier into a lake. My food came after a reasonable wait and was okay. I ordered the hamburger and fries, the hamburger was a little dry and the fries were severely over-salted, price SEK 240. Expensive compared to an equally good hamburger and fries I had at another restaurant at lunchtime two days ago for SEK 99 and where I could salt and pepper my fries as much or little as I liked. The waiter at Sjövillan did not give me a beer glass when I ordered a beer and expected me to drink it from the red wine glass already on the table. Of course I could have done that but usually there are different glasses for different drinks and at a restaurant at which one pays quite a lot for the service, presumably, the staff should know which glass is suitable for which drink. After the meal the waiter took the plates away without asking if I was finished even though it was a quiet evening and there was no queue of people waiting to come in. The other people in my party seemed to be content with the service and situation so I don't think Sjövillan is different from other restaurants in the area. They could maybe educate their staff to have a little more dialogue with with their customers. What I wonder as a side-note in general, not Sjövillan in particular, is why evening meals should cost at least twice as much as lunchtime meals in Sweden. Personally I would never dream of paying SEK 240 for a hamburger and fries unless my Swedish friends suggested going to a restaurant in the evening when for some inexplicable reason everything doubles in price.

Edit: I just ate here again, in late August of 2019. My former review, from 2018, is below this one. We were ushered to a table that lacked cutlery and water glasses. We had to point this out to staff. The wait time between starter and main was over an hour. The starter tasted good; it was well made. Service was slow and staff was (still) lackadaisical. We waited for service for over 25 minutes after the main. The main arrived and was very nice. We were then asked to leave our table due to overstepping the two-hour mark (due to staff lateness) and were moved to the lounge area. Dessert was truly fantastic; cloudberries with a single miniature churro and browned butter. Made reservations for 17:00 o'clock, but had to wait for the maitre'd for 20 minutes. They couldn't find my reservation but we were seated anyway, which was nice. A lackadaisical waiter gave us minutes after ten minutes. The vegetarian main was nice! Definitely worth the money, that main, but the staff had nil engagement despite a half-filled room. No charm, but good food.

If you are foreigners or speak english,I dont recommend this restaurant.me and my family went there with full energy and exited because of beautiful downtown, I ask the waiter about one of the main course in the menu.she not understanded well ,when I asked my question again she answered me impolite with anger. All of my positive energy gone at that moment.

The food was good. We were 9 people and most of us ordered oxfile and it was good. I was surprised with their siders, it was really good. The last time i was there was 4 years ago and i appreciate more their siders this time. The one thing i dont like was there was too little space between our tables and the other table, but overall we had a great time.

We have visited this restaurant on a Sunday, at approx. 16 o´clock, which is not a popular time to eat in Sweden. Even tough, we didn´t have to wait to get a table and there was plenty of free tables available it took more than 30min until we got served our four meals, a.o. a burger and some grilled meat dishes, which shouldn´t take that much time. The meals were OK and tasty. All in all the food was OK, so in case you are walking the streets of Rättvik and feel hungry, you may be comforted, but hopefully a bit more promptly. 😉

Amazing place alot of people eating and drinking! I look around and it's alot of different dishes I would love to try! Thought about the biggest burger 400 gran of tasty burger! Sounds good but I ordered "fläskfile" and by company bought ribs! The food is amazing the sides you have with the food is tasty and well made! The only thing I wanted changed, was to grill the corn just a little bit more! But I want to return again next time we are in Rättvik! Love it 4.5/5!!

Loved it despite the rain. The mixed grill for two was lovely. Loads of food for two adults and two kids. I also appreciate the large selection of beer.

Food was delicious, decor was good ,staff really nice and my semi-vegetarian option was good. What they fall alittle short on is the alittle to loud music and I'm not suger coating that its pretty pricey. All tho you get what you pay for. All around good place for a steak or not a steak.

Would defiantly drive from Stockholm to Big Street BBQ just to eat those delicious ribbs again. Very cosy place, nice house music and friendly staff. Place is not pricy. Even though this is Rättvik it could be smart to book a table in advance. Remember to taste the beer from the local brewery. Dalabryggeri.

Pretty beautiful in its own strange way because the theme of the place is from 50's American restaurants and I would say it's pretty authentic 👍. Food was very good both in taste and price. Beef patty could have been slightly juicier but regardless I must say the quality of meat 🥩 was really good. Overall full marks.

Nice American style diner! The food was good! If I could give the restaurant one tip, is to add Root beer floats to the menu! Nothing more American than having a nice soda float!👍

Very close to the coldest and most tasteless burger. The bun was drenched in pickled onion brine, the paddy was cold, stiff and tasteless. Garlic Mayo for 29 SEK - no garlic. Atmosphere - nice decor, zero vibe; barely noticeable music; although full the place was like a funeral. Nice fries. Ok milk shake.

Dinner 45 is a American 50s style dinner, it has good Hamburg's but not worth the price in my opinion. The have the possibility to make food for people with special needs(I personally only know of gluten free because of my brother). The service was so so, was waiting for 30min to get a milkshake. Toilet was not very clean. My conclusion is it's a good place for special events or to get the one time experience.

Very nice and authentic american diner. The interior makes you feel like you are in an diner im the U.S. They even have a kids room so your little ones can have some fun.

More for the nostalgic decor. Food was ok but don't expect anything exceptional taste wise. Nice to see and experience especially if you get to sit in the Cadillac to eat.

If you are interested in passion for food, this is the right place. The products are local with high quality, even the plates etc. are made from locals. the way of preparation is very close to the point with the special note of local herbs. Thanks for this special experience, it was brilliant. Ah, if I forgot, the people are also very special in her passion and very friendly.

Amazing setup for a "restaurant" (it's more like a destination with amazing food), where most of what you eat is either produced or grown on site or brought in from other farmers in the local neighborhood. I've been here many times over for lunches during summer and they all been over the top. Today me and my wife was lucky to get a table at the special "Pizza night" and what an amazing experience! Staff, food and location is just something you have to experience when in the area.

This place is amazing! Beautiful cosy rooms with spectacular views. A place to relax in the nature. Their food is so special. All organic and coming from the closest farms. We had probably the best beef burgers of our lives. Tender and juicy meat with super delicious bacon and cheese.

Very friendly owners and the food is delicious. And the best part? It's local! + Pittoresque, beautiful environement.

Great pizza experience in Rättvik. There were several vegan options on the menu but I wanted a basic mushroom pizza with vegan cheese which was easily provided by the restaurant staff.

Unassuming humble location that pleasantly surprised us serving absolutely delicious and flavourful vegan pizzas! We had the ‘Florens’ and the ‘Venezia’; perfect base, moreish toppings, deserving of the awards. Friendly fun staff who were happy to modify our order. Will definitely be regulars here.

This pizzeria deserves a full 5 stars and nothing less. The pizzas are truly the best we found in Sweden. Very good menu including vegetarian and even vegan options. Super friendly owner. Accepts Bitcoin payment. Simple interior but an nice and comfortable terrace. Don't get yourself fooled by the average of "just" 4,1 stars; this restaurant deserves more!
