Waterfalls
Tinago Falls, located in Iligan, Lanao del Norte, Mindanao, Philippines, is a hidden gem nestled in a deep ravine. Accessible by a winding staircase, this natural wonder features a mesmerizing waterfall that drops from a great height into a tranquil blue lagoon. The falls are renowned for their breathtaking beauty and can be reached after walking some distance through captivating surroundings.
This place is awesome. I have been to some beautiful falls in the country but im impressed by how secluded and majestic the place is. Such an awe inspiring place indeed. There may be some drawbacks to the place but i could only think of 1, the stair climb down going to the falls itself, having to endure a 300 plus steps to reach it is in itself tiresome already not to mention the gruesome climb back up after spending an afternoon swimming and rafting to the falls. But it is all so worth the effort and risk.. definitely gonna recommend the place...
Ken Victoria — Google review
This place is an awesome escape from the city landscape. I would recommend going early morning and bring your own breakfast meal. It is advisable that you be physically ready for the steps going up and down the waterfalls since I think there are about 300 plus steps and a total of 600 plus steps going down and back up from the site. Take your time climbing up since some steps are really steep. Senior citizens should be extra careful when trekking up and down the path. Also, there are available restrooms near the waterfalls that are clean. Lastly, the staff there are nice and will assist you with anything and are really friendly. I would personally love to visit another time.

An easy drive from Iligan City as the roads are all cemented. The trek which is around 300+ steps from the parking is a challenge to those with weak knees and you have to go down to see the falls and climb up again when you leave. We paid only P120 for two people for entrance and another P250 for a table at the falls. The falls itself is so beautiful with the sound of the rushing water which is so therapeutic. They renovated the toilets to western standards which is a nice surprise but there weren’t many available so I wonder when it’s peak season the number of people using it would be busy. We sat there and had a nice picnic and were the only ones on a weekday afternoon.

Water was cold and the view from the bottom of the falls is very majestic. There's a cliff where you can jump off (it's only a few meters high). You have to be very careful with the climb though as it's tricky and you have to literally climb it through rocks and vines.
Chardy Fernando — Google review
The scenery and the taste of the wind is quite refreshing. You can feel the essence of a true falls. 💯 Satisfying adventure. P.S. 355-step stairway (stairway to heaven 😭) will make your knees tremble for 15 mins 😂
Elmer Montebon — Google review
It's worth the hike. Tinago falls is so Beautiful and relaxing. You can really hear the sound of nature. Even though its so tiring when you're going back up. But it's all worth it just to see this beautiful falls
Cherry Laguardia — Google review
My favorite spot on Mindanao 359 steps to the bottom. Thank God some guides carry stuff down for you. Bring along Sandals or rock shoes, swim clothing and drinks with a picnic. It's worth it if you can spend the day there. At the bottom, guides can pull you out on a raft into the falls, you can jump off cliffs, or just spend the day swimming. Then... there is there hike back up those 359 steps. Worth it for one of the most amazing falls I have seen.
Jim T — Google review
Recommended for someone who is physically fit and loves nature. The entrance fee would cost you 25, the life vest 25 and water rafting for 10. The cottage that we had paid during our visit was 350. I can't give details to other cottages since I wasn't able to ask. I would really recommend you to try their water rafting. You will be experiencing under the pressure of water coming from the waterfalls itself. You have a life vest so your safety is guaranteed. You must bring your own food since the place does not offer any food. The pool where you can enjoy swimming is quite rough. There are a lot of stones. You better wear your footwear. Just be careful with the current water. Overall you will enjoy down there but not the trail going up and down. You must be physically fit and not afraid of heights. Great choice for those who love hiking and trekking.

380 plus stairs in a steep incline is a good cardio. the only thing i don't like about the place is that there are too many fees. the water is clean and clear.
Nunki Reyes — Google review
One of the most beautiful scenery i found here in mindanao. this place is extremely safe. trees are all down the sidewalk‚ and gently sway in the wind looking like they belong on a beach‚ and they give this place a relaxing‚ calm‚ look. It’s obvious to me that people enjoy this place just by the scenery. It is well taken care of‚ and very clean. Everybody looks to be having fun and a good time. Next time i will bring my friends here to see this beautiful scenery.

I've been to many Philippine falls and this is one of the best! The local government has organized the place and the guide system. The guide that was appointed to us is so hardworking, patient and very polite. At the falls itself, it's mesmerizing and breezy. There is a raft that can take you inside the falls - very cold but very fun and exciting. Make sure you are prepared for the stairs.. that you are healthy for it. Don't miss visiting this falls when you are around the area!
Kates — Google review
The falls is beautiful, but it takes time to reach it. And I don't really recommend Asthmatic people to go there. It may be risky for them. Also, the CR's are very dirty and the water smells bad.

Maria Cristina Falls

Waterfalls
Maria Cristina Falls, also known as the Twin Falls, is a stunning 98-meter waterfall located in Iligan City. It provides power to the Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant and is a significant source of electric power for the entire Mindanao region. Legend has it that Maria Cristina Falls was named after twin sisters who fell in love with the same man. The falls are a popular tourist attraction and an inspiration for many stories.
It was raining when we visited this place. We were actually given a warning that there were landslides along the way, although these has been cleared already. It was around 20-30mins from the city center. The falls as seen from the viewing area was fantastic — beautiful yet dangerous because of the rapids. You will definitely not like (nor will you be allowed actually) to swimming there. I am just amazed when I checked the map and realized/learned that this falls is actually connected to Lake Lanao — the water going through this came from that lake.
John Bart Lovern Dumalag — Google review
This is a bridge and you need to get in to NPC nature's park to see the view. Its a long way down to the park. The park is closed to tourist since marawi siege.

I was just in awe after seeing such majestic falls. ❤️ Nature's park is closed na since the pandemic. I could just imagine how nice it would have been here pre-pandemic with the zipline and resto and all.
Kat Velasco — Google review
Maria Cristina Falls is known as one of the Majestic Waterfalls in Iligan city because of the presence of more than 20 waterfalls. It is sometimes called the "twin falls" as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfall. It is located 9.3 kilometers away southwest of the city proper at the boundaries of Barangays Maria Cristina, Ditucalan, and Buru-un. Known for its natural grandeur, the 320 - feet (98 meters) high waterfall is also the primary source of electric power for the city's industries.
John Walter Mabanta — Google review
This place is sooooooo amazing. Maria Cristina falls is part of Nature's park but sadly only this area is open for public viewing. No entrance fee, only donation. No shuttle from the entrance. Habal2 fare back and forth: Php60
Mary Joy Egos — Google review
One of Iligan City's main landmark and tourist destination. It has been the city's main source of electricity since 1950s through its hydroelectric plant. The beautiful and scenic falls has an equally wondrous tale of its own. It's not called the majestic waterfalls for nothing 😉 We always bring our visitors here but today's the first time we've visited its turbine facility. I hope i can upload and share the videos too
Iris Christine Montebon — Google review
Visiting Iligan and its environs will not be complete without seeing first-hand the magnificence of Maria Cristina Falls - a great source inspiration and of electric power for the majority of households in the country. Before, one freely enter the falls area but now due to the threats of its security, the management greatly monitors and restrict access to the false.
Brian Dela Torre — Google review
Beautiful waterfall and power station. Our understanding was that the falls and ajoining eco-park were closed to the public but our driver spoke with the guards at the gate and we were allowed access to the falls. There's nice facilities, a covered observation deck as wall as some shops that are currently closed. I hope to visit again when the area is reopened.

Timoga Spring Pool is a delightful location to relax and cool off. The pool features a unique design, with cascading water that flows from the top to the lower level. However, it's important to note that parking space is limited and cannot accommodate many guests with cars. As a result, visitors may need to rely on roadside parking, which can be unsafe and risky. Despite this inconvenience, the experience at Timoga Spring Pool is truly memorable.
Timoga Spring Pool becomes even more delightful in the company of classmates, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared enjoyment. The beautiful surroundings serve as a backdrop for creating lasting memories with friends, enhancing the overall experience of this serene retreat in Lanao Del Sur.

A nice family getaway place in the summer. The spring water that is collected in the pool is refreshing. Beware of the food stalls opposite the entrance - they are unreasonably too expensive. The lechon however tastes good according the the locals.

Mimbalot Falls, located in Iligan City, is a well-known and widely visited waterfall system in the region. The area boasts beautiful surroundings with multiple spring pools and sitting areas for visitors to enjoy. Restroom and shower facilities are available nearby; however, they may not be up to standard. Access to the adjacent resort provides additional spring pools for guests' enjoyment.
Well worth the visit! You can get really up close with the falls!

Too late to read some reviews here that there’s a free entrance at the left side if you’re just here for pictorials. We paid for 100php (for 2 adults) because we entered the gated entrance of Iligan Paradise Resort. They have man made pools on the right side for kids and adults, but it’s not really developed if compared to Timoga Coldspring pools. Still a nice place to unwind and be “one with nature.” There are toilet/shower rooms available but I haven’t checked the conditions inside.

Nature at its best. Raw and fresh. I would love to see some development here. The tables are uncleaned. It's looking like ab abandoned place but even then, I sooo love the place. It is a getaway that is not so far away.

One of the famous and no need to walk attraction in Iligan. Most part of it is private resort where you need to pay for the entrance and cottage if you want to. Though if you prefer for a free one, just follow the pathway at the side leading to the waterfalls. What I don’t like here is the garbages around along the trail and in the water itself! So irresponsible of the visitors and the resort management itself.
Jorge Golle — Google review
this place is okay. there are tables in the water. there are shades that makes a unique picnic experience and there are no fees unless you decide to swim in the man made pool.

Took my visitors here. They're all the way from Naga. It's a perfect place to begin with when you plan to visit different kinds of falls in the city. This place is very accessible and so maybe you could visit it first before the other falls.
Janine Estacio — Google review
beautiful settings with entry fee...as we were very early our group was the only one there on a weekday until the afternoon. Big waterfall and fresh cold, spring water pools..sitting areas for hire and CR/shower facilities available (not very clean though). Have access to next door resort as well with more spring pools.
Tandiwe Fatyi — Google review
Love the sound of waters falling and echoing throughout the place! Although it was very slippery when we climbed, it was a pretty fun experience. Love the natural massage that you get when sitting on the spot where the water drops. The water's very clean as well.

Are you itching to beat the heat before summer is over? I did mine by waterfall-gazing at Mimbalot Falls in Buru-un, Iligan City. The endless water rushing from the top paving its way to the rocks downstream is calming and breathtaking at the same time. It’s nice to get wet, get a closer look and probably take photos but make sure to take extra care as the path is slippery. Of course I took photos myself and you can see them right below. Still, nothing is more satisfying than witnessing this majestic beauty by yourself. What are you waiting for?

If you're in town and have a hankering for Chinese cuisine, LAI-LAI YEUNG CHOW RESTAURANT by the waterfront is a solid choice. The prices for their dishes are reasonable and you can enjoy a satisfying Chinese dinner for two at around PHP1000. This establishment has stood the test of time, maintaining the same delicious flavors they've been serving since I was a child.
It was indeed a great experience to dine with your family and friends.

This restaurant is an oldie but goodie. They still serve the same taste of foods they have been serving since I was a kid. The place is a bit old and maintained but is not not updated for the current trends. It still looks almost the same as it when when I first visited this place about 2 decades ago. By the way, they have WiFi now by the way so I guess that's a bit cool now.

Just for the food affordability this restaurant is the best in Iligan ! for less than 1000 you can have 5 dishes and it's a super big serve ! trust me !! haha! they have the Giant Springrolls i've seen in my life ! Food is fresh but they don't have fresh drinks only in powder and soft drinks. I hope the management woul renovate the place as it's very old and dilapidated already !! Aircons are so noisy. and they should adjust to modern style at least it's already 2023! it's very tacky and old style place, you could have make this restaurant a super nice one competing to the new restaurants in teh city !

Iliganon restaurant in Iligan City offers a diverse and enticing menu for its customers. Some recommended dishes include their flavorful beef randang, delicious thin crust pizza, and indulgent creamy durian shake. This establishment is known to cater to Muslim customers by providing halal food options. The unique tables add an artistic touch to the rustic ambiance of the place.
Cozy ang ambiance... the best ang durian shake... downside, limited parking area.
Carlo Fajardo — Google review
Came here with a friend, and he ordered a durian shake as this restaurant is well known for its durian shake. He tells me that it tasted great, but since i dont like durian, I'll give their shake the benefit of the doubt. Their carbonara serving was generous but I didn't like its overall taste as I could tell that they used margarine to make the sauce creamy. Aside from that, their pasta didn't have any sort of meat on it, so you're just basically eating creamy pasta. I also tasted their cookies and cream shake, it was okay. Just the typical tasting shake that you'd get from any medium scaled restaurants, nothing too special.

I have only tried their Beef Randang and Carbonara so I can't really say much about their *other* food. I love their unique tables. Very artistic. 10/10. The Beef Randang was good but a bit salty for me. But I love how spicy it was. Their carbonara is good too but too cheesy for me.
