Points of Interest & Landmarks
Alter Strom, located in the heart of Warnemunde, was originally a canal connecting Rostock's port to the Baltic Sea. Over time, it became a charming area with colorful houses where fishermen and sailors settled. Visitors can now enjoy strolling along the picturesque promenade, shopping, and savoring delicious seafood while watching seagulls. It's a lively place with opportunities for swimming and beach activities. The area is perfect for spending quality time with family or friends over a weekend getaway.
Great place for hangout and pass the weekend. You can eat lots of fish items. Sea beach was too good -- you can swim, play volleyball etc.

(Translated by Google) It's beautiful there. Wonderfully centrally located, it was the starting point for almost all the other sights around it. The train station is also right next door. The harbor tours start here and you come directly to the pier or, if you turn off shortly beforehand, to the lighthouse, tea pot and the beach promenade that leads to the Hotel Neptun and beyond. An almost incredibly wide beach there. You can take a nice walk along the old stream itself. The many small houses are home to shops and many restaurants and cafés. Even some of the old fishing boats are now snack bars. Caution! The seagulls are crazy about food and will sometimes grab a fish sandwich straight from the hand of an unsuspecting tourist. It is advisable to eat under the parasols (even in winter). Anyone who visits Warnemünde cannot avoid the old stream.

Es zog mich noch einmal hierher vom 8. - 10.7.22, traumhaft. The Warnemünde lighthouse, a 19th-century historical landmark located in the charming village, boasts stunning views of the sea and surrounding areas. The tall structure offers plenty of seating options for visitors to take in the picturesque scenery while enjoying snacks on-site. However, transportation to this location can be challenging due to limited public transport choices and scarce taxis available. Its notable features include an old lighthouse and a large ship and ferry port.
The lighthouse in Warnemünde was for centuries a meeting place and a place of happenings, and so it is still today. As it once guided the people of the sea through the storms, now it guides the countless visitors that are gathering at the seaside on the sunny weekends. I recommend tourists to come to this place and plan their tour through the town from this point on. Best regards!

The lighthouse is definitely worth to see! Amazing view, you can read about a technology used for signaling, what's really interesting. Only what I didn't like was how the stuff haven't been speaking even a word in other language than German and even haven't been trying.

This small resort town area in northeastern part of Germany is a relaxation haven. Long beach coastlines and the vibrant vibes with music and lotsa visitors makes you really feel on vacation. The lighthouse is a good marker that you are at beach central. For cruise ship passengers it's kinda walk to reach the place so itbis not advisable for those with mobility problems The other good thing about this place is that it is exempted from Sunday cloaures of shops. I was sonlucky I found a shuh haus wjere I can buy my authentic Birkesntock sandals. Am also lucky I got the size I need. Lots of restos and hotels around the area. I also noticed commuter trains frequentoy come in and go right at the xenter of town.

If you're interested in learning about shipbuilding and seafaring, the Shipbuilding and Maritime Museum in Rostock, Germany is the ideal destination. It is the largest floating museum in Germany and showcases numerous exhibitions. The museum provides a comprehensive overview of shipbuilding history, starting from the Slavic era to present times. It offers a diverse collection of naval history, technical knowledge, and artwork. Currently, there is an exhibition featuring different epochs of painting art through Donald Duck cartoons.
Note that there are a lot of stairs, some of them steep, if you want to see everything. Well worth the visit, displays a lot of seafaring history of the GDR and life onboard the oceangoing ships. Do not miss the outdoors displays and the rest of the park!
Ari Joki — Google review
Awesome museum in a real ship. It's a whole lot bigger than it looks. You could easily spend 1.5-2 hours there. Sadly, everything is in German, though.
Mel Gomez — Google review
Excellent museum and a great location. A really good exhibition about the ship itself and the shipbuilding industry in Rostock.
Martin Stone — Google review
Totally worth a visit! A broad display of naval history, technical information and art (currently there's an exhibition broadcasting the different epochs of painting art via Donald duck). All that presented in a docked ship (mostly interior, so good for bad weather). Entrance fee is 4 Euro (very fair), additional 2 Euro for the parking lot. Starting at 10 am. It's close to the beaches of Warnemünde and Rostock old town, therefore a perfect location.
Thomas Ploner — Google review
Amazing museum with beautiful model ships, (working) models of engines with such incredible detail, history of shipbuilding and all very nicely layed out. The ships and its museum pieces are very well maintained. The park where the museum is located is also worth a visit by itself. Entry for park and the musuem is only 4 euro.

Very cool museum in a great location. We spent way more time on the ship than we had planned for. I never saw it when it was used as a youth hostel, it must have been an interesting place to spend the night. The new exhibition is fun. Can highly recommend a visit.

The detail and exhibits are amazing. I use to work in the engine rooms of ships and it was fun to see the engine room on the ship with the engine taken apart showing parts you usually don't get to see. When i was there they had an exhibit on torpedo including old torpedo engines it was a great afternoon!

Extremely friendly and professional staff. Very nice food, simple but effective presentation and tasty too. Very friendly staffs and good menu. We ordered pefferling soup and seafood soup for starter. Both are very good and fresh. Restaurant "Zum Stromer" is a charming eatery that offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, complete with a fireplace and an outdoor terrace. The restaurant specializes in locally sourced fish and homemade pasta dishes, making it a great choice for seafood lovers. The quality of the food is excellent, made using only the finest ingredients available. Although the prices may be slightly higher due to its location in a touristy part of town, the dining experience justifies the cost.
Excellent seafood! Had a lovely dinner here with friends. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals and drinks. Good service. It's not cheap, but it's right in a touristy part of town, so that's too be expected. The food did live up to the higher-end price tag. Recommended!

The service is good and Dorsch Filet tastes really great. The best restaurant so far I can find in Warnemünde. For non-German visitors: waiters and waitresses can speak English, but the menu is all in German.

Good quality food. It is a bit expensive but the food is made by best ingredients. It is in located in a quiet place.
Babak N — Google review
The experience here was first class from the service to the atmosphere to the food. It was only a short walk from the cruise terminal and well worth the effort. But be forewarned, although they did have an English menu available, on the night we were there, English was not well understood. However we were able to get by with my high school level German. Our waitress was very understanding of my feeble attempt at speaking her language and she could not have been nicer. Overall a great experience.
Eric Marsh — Google review
Delicious food and wine for a reasonable price. Excellent setting and good atmosphere for a nice dinner. We didn't dress nicely and weren't challenged. We made reservations and I'm glad we did, because the place filled up very quickly after it opened at 5pm. There were a few other places open at 4pm, just up the street, if you feel like getting a drink before dinner.
Nick B — Google review
Really nice and cozy place. A real fireplace keeps the guests warm in the colder months. Absolutely excellent food made from first class ingredients. Everything cooked to the point. The white chocolate cake was the top of a superb three-course dinner. Also excellent wine selection and very friendly staff. Wonderful place all in all, with very reasonable prices for the quality of food, service and place.
Susann Krake (Lonlyhiker) — Google review
I find the place itself cosy and welcoming (loved the fireplace). Some small details like wires, cracking paint and the absence of a candle on one of the sides of the entrance could be taken care of. The starters were heavenly and the complimentary tomato soup was delicious. My husband's fish dish was superb. Mine was tasteless, accompanied by way too salty sides. Desserts were alright. We will probably come back and I will pick another main course.

I've never written a restaurant review before, but I recently visited Restaurant Fabelhaft while visiting from the United States. Let me just say that Tom, our waiter, was exceptional. He went above and beyond to accommodate our menu requests, considering that some items may have different translations than what we're used to back home. Tom provided service with a friendly attitude and made sure our meals were exactly to our liking. I would highly recommend this place.

Twee Linden Inh. C. Linkis is a charming German restaurant situated by a canal, offering an array of delectable dishes showcasing the finest seafood and meats from the Baltic region. The staff is exceptionally friendly, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests to enjoy their meal. While the sauces are flavorsome in their own right, it is recommended to use them sparingly as they can overpower the delicate essence of the base food, whether it be fish or meat.
Great food and atmosphere. The restaurant is located in the middle of market. Me and my wife even got a free glass of gluhwein. Sea food lovers would definitely enjoy the fresh food here. I'd personally recommend poached fish with bratkartoffeln

Amazingly fresh seafood and great quality meat. Super friendly staff. Very cosy atmosphere. My only suggestion would be to go easy on the sauces. The sauces are delicious in their own right but they tend to crowd out the delicate flavours of the base food, be that fish or meat.

Grillstube BROILER is a stylish hotel eatery located along the waterfront, renowned for its delectable grilled poultry accompanied by various savory toppings and crispy fries. Upon arrival during lunchtime, there was a lengthy queue outside the establishment. However, despite initial hesitation, I decided to join the line and was pleasantly surprised by the swift waiting time. Moreover, I managed to secure an excellent window-side seat.
Well, you'll have to wait a bit for the delicious chicken and great atmosphere of 70s. Ans it's worth it! The service is fast and friendly. While you wait for a table, you can have a drink at the bar and listen to the pianist in the hotel lobby.

The seasoning must be especially made for them. Never had such a delicious chicken before. The fries are also pretty good. Can’t complain about how fast you habe the food. Sometimes you need to wait a bit, but you‘ll receive a beeper from the waiter. with this you can wait outside and enjoy the seaview of the Baltic.
