Beautiful ace and nice food!

La Coleta and Cabo de Gata is an absolute jewel nestled in a picturesque setting, a culinary haven that has captured my heart and palate over the last 15 years. Every visit transforms into a memorable dining experience, filled with the rich flavors of expertly prepared octopus, paella, and the exquisite gallo pedro, making it an unrivaled destination for gourmands. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a cherished tradition, where I joyfully bring friends and family from around the globe to share in the delight of each dish’s culinary craftsmanship. La Coleta is more than just dining; it’s an immersive experience into the best of gastronomy, where every bite tells a story of passion, flavor, and excellence.

Amazing place. Lovely sunset meal and top service
Clive Tomlinson — Google review
A couple weeks have passed since I was in La Goleta and I can’t stop thinking about the amazing food I ate there. Would be hard for me to recommend a specific dish because all of them are WONDERFUL. They made the best paella I ever tasted, full of everything (not just rice like many others I tried before) the ajo blanco with the finest texture, the boquerones, all the pizzas are delicious, the octopus was absolutely amazing, and the desserts as well (chocolate cake was my favorite). EVERYTHING on the menu is delicious!!! All the staff was great and super friendly, you see all the love they put into their work. And what makes this restaurant even better is the location, just in front of the beach from where you can see the beautiful sunset. On my next vacation I want to go to again to Cabo de gata just for tasting again the amazing food of this restaurant.

We ordered the meat grill for 2 & was not disappointed. It came on it's own heated grill to keep warm while you're plowing through chicken, lamb, beef, pork & sausage. Beautifully cooked & only €30. Well recommended. Right on the seafront as well.
Liz Matthews — Google review
Helpful staff, but unimaginative food at rip-off prices. We asked the waiter to recommend a fish, and based on his recommendation chose the Gallo Pedro (John Dory) for €23.50 each. It arrived in a heavy batter, with fried potato wedges and an ajoblanco sauce. No herbs, no innovation, everything white or yellow, nothing beautiful on the plate. Too expensive, and left us feeling bloated. For the same money you can eat very well in Madrid or Barcelona, or have a 5-star creative meal at Samambar or Lebeche restaurants in Rodalquilar down the road from here. Don’t make our mistake… take your money elsewhere. EDIT: Thanks to the owner for your reply. Yes you are right that I should have said something while we were in the restaurant. I decided not to because we simply wanted to go out and enjoy our afternoon rather than spend time critiquing your food. About the prices: we have eaten fantastic food in Spain, including spectacular fish in Madrid for €17.50 and €22.50 in Naia bistro that was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. I can understand you want to defend your restaurant, but if you compare locally in the region and across Spain, my humble opinion is that your prices are way too expensive for the quality of food you are serving. We appreciated your friendly welcome but think €30 per person for a main course and one drink (plus you charge extra for bread) is simply too expensive.

Fantastic food, you need to reserve your table, relaxed service, if your in a hurry go elsewhere, we found it the best of the lot in Cabo de Gata

I’ll recommend this restaurant. The black paella was so good, better than the paella I ate in Valencia (both me and my husband agree with). And staffs here are nice and friendly.

Booked this amazing restaurant for my friend's birthday dinner. The ambience was perfect, the service wonderful and the food was very delicious. The host was so welcoming and went the extra mile to ensure that we had a good time. I'll definitely come back again when next I visit Almeria.
Kemi Okoruwe — Google review
Definitely recommended. Good food, wonderful location and friendly staff. In contrast to some other restaurants around the place looks well kept which is always reassuring. My only criticism was the the main course tends to be served before you have finished your starter. We had this, but others as well. If you're in a hurry, it's great, but most people are on holiday and donning waiting a bit, have another drink, enjoy the view, etc.

Okey, traditional paella was very good.
Magnus Gustavsson — Google review
(Translated by Google) The paella was four-finger rice, so it cannot be called paella with prepared bag ingredients and stale rice. The scallops and anchovies were good. Fried milk very dry. The attention of the service was not equal, all the surrounding tables had a complimentary liquor and a thank you very much to us. The spacious and clean living room. In short, I do not recommend it, a typical place that takes care of those from the area and not the stranger, zero equality.

Pizzeria Pietro is located just a few meters away from the beach in Retamar. This pizzeria offers a wide variety of pizzas, hamburgers, salads, and typical tapas.
(Translated by Google) Spectacular pizzas, especially the Christian one, which lives up to its name because Christian is the most charming boy in all of Cabo de Gata. Congratulations, we hope to see you next summer.
ISABEL ALVAREZ — Google review
Rather odd pizzas, funny shaped and scarce ingredients not matching what they advertise in the menu. The pizzas are prepared one by one in a round clay oven and sometimes the base gets taste of ashes, or is burned on some edges and not well done on some parts. All pizzas cost about the same (1 euro difference between the cheapest and the most expensive one), and are fluffy and leaking. No inside seating, just 6 tables in a narrow alley, and people at the dining tables complained about the slow serving. Overall edible but not a great experience.
Juan Cea-Claver — Google review
(Translated by Google) First they made a mistake when making the pizza we ordered, we came back and they proceeded to make another one so far so good. The second pizza they made for us took literally 5 minutes (bad indication) because the photo below shows the pizza they made for us. Unfinished dough and burnt underneath, practically negligible ingredients.

(Translated by Google) The waiter is very friendly, but the pizza barely has any ingredients even though they sell it to you as "300 grams". On the other hand, a dinner for two with two pizzas and three soft drinks for €32 seems excessive to me.

(Translated by Google) The most average pizzas I have ever eaten in my life. Starting with the unprofessional staff and the reggeton music at full blast. But the last straw was the frozen and reheated dough, the ingredients were barely visible and at €10 the pizza seems excessive to me. For this I go to Dominos Pizza and at least I know what I'm going for. In short, a shame about a wasted site.

(Translated by Google) We went to the pizzeria because of the good memories we had of the previous owner. It has gotten substantially worse. Pizzas with few ingredients and half-cooked dough, a service with hygiene problems and somewhat unfriendly. The shouting match in the kitchen could be heard perfectly on the street despite the racatanga music at full volume in the premises. It's a shame, every year we went to this pizzeria because we liked it.
(Translated by Google) They have no idea about making pizzas. The dough either comes out full of flour (rarely cooked) or they make it charred. Furthermore, they have the shame of changing the ingredients without telling you (for example, they leave only the anchovies in Cabo de Gata and replace the shrimp and tuna with capers) and charge you exactly the same (€1 more than the rest). . Quite unfortunate, better to go to the María Luisa pizzeria.

(Translated by Google) The truth is that the pizzas are delicious and even more so after a day at the beach. Its size is unique so that's not a problem either. The thing is that when they charge you for a canned cola and a canned nest, three euros each...I repeat for a canned one. Kedas ice cream even though it is at 40 degrees. It seems outrageous to me that prices are abused in this way. For two cans of soft drinks 6 euros Of course they brought us two glasses with an ice each. Maybe that was it.

Chiringuito Restaurante Chiri-Bus is a cozy beachfront bar with a great location and lovely sea views. While some may find the service a bit grumpy, it's common in the area. The food is delicious and well-presented, making it worth a visit. Although the menu prices might be on the higher side, it's understandable as they are the only option on the beach.
The food here is amazing!!!! We had a paella for 2. A fresh tuna salad Fried calamari Bread Around 5 gin and tonics each x4 Lemoncello shot each 140 euros in total
Lauren Keele — Google review
Cosy bar (chiringuito) in front of the sea. Nice for drinks and tapas. The food in the menu is a bit expensive but Probably is due to the fact they are the only one in the beach 🏖
Wesley Rodrigues — Google review
Great food at a great location! The service might be perceived as grumpy, but this seems to be the case at most restaurants in the area. The food was great in taste and lovely presented too. And all that with a beach and sea view. Will definitely come here again.

Don't Go! I was taken in by the shack amongst the fishing boats, thinking of the fresh fish brought in right there and served up at your table. However, the fish in the display unit looked stale. I pointed to the Menu instead - €18 for the bass, and then was charged €33 for tomatoes and wine on top! I agree with the previous comments - it's like a scam! I will never go back nor recommend this place. Go the restaurants in the village
Prime Time — Google review
Food is decent but not great for the money you pay. Its heavily overpriced for what it is and they try to sqeeze in €16 tomato salad just by the way. Even a bread service is €4. Well would not go again nor recommend it.

Food was good and the red prawns were delicious
Michael Saunders — Google review
Nice sea view. Strong smell of fish. Ridiculous price for a Coke and a caña - 6 euros. 'Free' tapas was warm ensaladilla rusa with a dead fly on it. Do not recommend.
Kerry Lee Higginson — Google review
The restaurant is very nicely located on a wide beach in a large bay. Parking in front of the restaurant. The food is plentiful but unfortunately not very good and expensive compared to the quality. With the fish platter, we had the impression of getting lukewarm leftovers. The prawns tasted old and warmed up. The waitress was surly and didn't even put down a second plate. Cutlery was only available on request. We don't recommend it!

A wonderful experience. Unique fish menu, cooked on a blue boat-barbecue. Fresh and tasty with great atmosphere and service 😋

Be careful with menu. Most of meals without price. Octopus was tasteless and seabass too salty. We ate it because of the prices, incredibly high compared to other restaurants in the area. To be avoided! They serve bread in plastic bag and chips for incredibly high price

Mediterranean restaurant
Restaurante El Faro is a delightful Mediterranean eatery with stunning views. Despite not having made a reservation, the friendly waitress accommodated us inside, where we still enjoyed a good vantage point. The zucchini salad and crispy toast with sardines were both incredibly flavorful. We also shared the delicious flat iron pork. The staff was amiable, and our food arrived promptly. The only drawback was the difficulty in paying; we had to ask multiple staff members several times.
Great food, great views and even better service. Lovely!!!!!

We hadn't booked but the lovely waitress seated us inside on our own, which still had a good view! We had the zucchini salad and the crispy toast (taco) with sardines both were extremely tasty! We shared the flat iron pork which also very good. The staff were friendly and the food came out quite quickly. The only downside was trying to pay, we ask 3 different staff 4 or 5 times. We understand they were busy but as we were paying cash it literally took seconds to do. It certainly wouldn't put me off returning though, that zucchini salad is worth it 😃
