Mediterranean restaurant
Restaurante El Torreón is a seafood restaurant known for its fish dishes and paella. Situated just meters away from the ocean, it offers a serene dining experience with the sound of waves in the background. The outdoor seating area provides a pleasant beachside atmosphere. The menu features a variety of salads, appetizers like lemon anchovies, and main courses such as grilled seafood platters, turbot, and polpo.
Lovely restaurant, right on the from of La Cala. We visited twice in a couple of days. We first had calamari to share (good portion for one!) and then had the paella which is min 2 person, we opted for the chicken and mushroom and it was excellent. The second time visiting was in the evening, this time I just had a starter portion of fried prawns with peppers and a portion of fries, my father had the black pasta with clams - all the food here is really very good. I had a Lime cheesecake and my father had a Tiramisu, both were very good sizes and definitely home made.

Starting on a couple of positive notes, this restaurant has extremely fast and efficient service. At the same time, it’s not one of those restaurants that is trying to get you in, fed and out again as quickly as possible. You are allowed the time to enjoy your meal. The vegetarian options are, however, abysmal. There is only one vegetarian main course, the vegetarian paella, and it requires a minimum of two people to order it. If you cannot find a second person willing to share with you, then it is pizza Margerita for you - and you don’t come to Spain to eat pizza in a Spanish restaurant. Also, a word of warning - the smell of frying fish is very strong in the restaurant if they have not opened the windows. You will be carrying this smell around with you for a while once it gets into your clothes. Overall the food was good and the restaurant can be recommended.
Garth Grisbrook — Google review
The key selling point of El Torreon is its location, right at the edge of the beach overlooking the ocean. The interior is light with twenty indoor tables and ten outdoor tables. The food was average for the price. While the grilled seabass (€21,95) was fresh, perfectly cooked but in need of seasoning. The homemade cheese cake (€5.50) was dissapointing and overly sweet. The service was cordial, efficient and professional with the staff accomodating a change of tables.
Alain Portmann — Google review
Great spot outside or inside, at the beach but not in an area that was super congested. The menu has some great salads when you want a refreshing lunch and also has some good apps...the lemon anchovies were a favorite. I also had a simply prepared turbot one night and my husband had the polpo...both were great. There is not any deviating from what is on the menu but it is pretty diverse. One night we opted for dessert and glad we did...the like cheesecake was very light (for cheesecake !)

Beautiful day time views with the glass next to the water. It was our favourite spot to come. Very friendly staff! Baby friendly! Good coffee and great food.

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere when we visited in February. Will definitely be back next time we visit
Mischa Parry — Google review
Absolutely superb food, and excellent service. Some of the best paella and started with an amazing tuna tartare (as pictured). The seafood is amazing and perfectly cooked. We’ve been eating here for years and it just gets better and better. To give you an example of the excellent service of this place, my daughter wanted sardines cooked in the boat on the beach (we’ve had it before here a few years ago) but they currently didn’t do it. One of the waitresses phoned another local restaurant, organised to have some takeaway sardines cooked and then she could eat them with the rest of our meal! Absolutely incredible.

Amazing place. We have been coming here for 10 years now and the quality has never dropped. Highly recommended the grilled sole and black and white pasta with prawns and clams.

Both fabulous dishes and not so fabulous. My paella vegetarian was very salty and not much different vegetables inside. Much boring

Restaurante Konfusion is a trendy Spanish fusion eatery that offers a contemporary atmosphere and delectable cuisine. The menu features a blend of traditional and modern dishes, such as the cheese platter, ham croquettes, pil-pil, hamburger, and angus steak. With its affordable prices and chic ambiance, this restaurant is an excellent choice for those seeking delicious food without breaking the bank.
We had a fantastic meal here this evening. Starters, mains, dessert, coffee and wine was excellent. Potatas bravas was delicious as was the lamb! The service faultless. The waitress asked us if we wanted to wait between courses, which was welcome as we didn't feel rushed! Fantastic weather, fantastic quality food, drink and atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend!
Joanna Thomas — Google review
Prawn and oyster mushroom special was lovely as was the salmon starter. Goulash was slowly cooked to perfection so the beef just fell apart as it should. Lovely meal and cocktails the best in the area. Non pretentious with friendly helpful staff. We will be back.

The last time I went to Konfusion it was in their old venue, which was small and definitely needed an upgrade. This new venue is excellent. Spacious, beautiful and the food was amazing. Loved the Salmon rolls and the lime salad. Will definitely be back again in the future.

One person got a pork burger that wasn't cooked. One person got a fish with to much salt. The 2 other main course was perfect.

Marjorie and the restaurant was as fantastic as it was when we ate there last year. Extremely friendly, wonderful food and a great experience. One of our group was a fastidious Scot who is hard to please… he was enthusiastic about his experience and we shall return next year. Thank you…

Easily the best restaurant in the area. Fantastic food and even better service. Looking forward to our next visit.

Don't normally review but we had such a good evening I thought I would. The food was really good and the service was fantastic (great with the kids). Loved the duck burger and the cocktails. Would definitley recommend.

What a beautiful little gem in La Cala de Mijas. I've been here now already a couple of times. The food is really delicious. The main dishes, but also the starters/tapas. Also, and very important: the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended

V good service. Food was tasty and well proportioned. Menu was a little small with a heavy focus on kimchi. Fine for us but maybe not all? Good air conditioning and bathrooms too! Would recommend. Cocktails were v well made and generous, if a little sweet.

Konfusion is one of our favourite places around. The staff are so friendly and the food is really good too, with a great choice available. All very fresh and served with a smile.

Their cocktails always surprise with the presentation. The tapas are very good as well, especially the Brazilian prawns and the wasabi salmon. They also have a great selection of gin.

Fine dining restaurant
Olivia's La Cala is a top-class restaurant with an unparalleled international cuisine that will leave your taste buds delighted. The setting by the beach is perfect for a romantic evening out, and the live music in the evenings makes it a very lively place to be.
First time I had been there, the food was fantastic, wine was very good, setting was great and the service was first class. The owner popped in Elliot Wright and worked the area making sure everyone was having a good time. Recommend a visit it was great night out.

The two small dishes ( tabbouleh and the dolma) where good but the Tagine on Lamb that the sold in as … special.. was not special in any way just like a basic meat stew that all arround the table woul do better… yes irs Turkish and I have been in Istanbul etc. The ”Tiramisu” was just a cake with strawberry jam and cream, the cheif can never had a real Tiramisu or dosent care. But the staff was nice and the views good. Dont think well be back/ not fore 110€ even if the owner tock the ”Tira” of the bill. Tomas

Set menu, well worth the money, food looked absolutely gorgeous and tasted just as good! When we mentioned it was a birthday lunch the waiters came with a special dessert as a surprise. Which was very appreciated by all of us, thank you :) Loved the music as well, even if it was a tiny bit too loud. Very friendly & accomodating staff. Perfectly located overlooking the beach. We'll be back for sure 😊

The 3 course set menu for 25 euros is more than worth it as the food was amazing. The passion fruit cheesecake especially was to die for. The setting by the beach was perfect. The singer of the day was really good, great voice, although we were a bit disappointed they were only a background singer that subtly walked round the tables rather than 'entertainment' that you could watch and sing along and dance to. Very much worth a visit and we can't wait to go back in the summer.
Shell Parody-Wyatt — Google review
The food that we had was great and the DJ fab. I am going to list my experience. Now it was resolved on the night but it would have been preferable to not have had this experience to be resolved. Not enough staff on throughout the whole place. Sky Bar had 1 guy, a second joined at 9.30 when people started getting tables and it was emptying. He did an admirable job, no complaints and managed our expectations but understandably it was difficult to get more drinks. Staff downstair were stressed, under pressure and rude. Booked a table for 9pm but didn't get our table til 10pm and didn't eat til 11.30. Which is generally fine as we expected to eat that late but half the menu was then sold out. The staff were never there to take drinks orders, food came out 10/15 minutes apart and we only found out food was not available when the other items had already come out. Atmosphere and music was great but I would highly recommend going for an earlier sitting if you want to eat the food.
Fiona German — Google review
Food not tasty. The menu descriptions do not match the reality. We ordered wood grilled steak and it was not grilled at all. Sauces chemical and no taste. We mentioned the waiter but he didn’t do anything about it. Pasta was ok but sauce also missed flavour. Salmon tartar was also not wow. Live music was nice but way too loud, impossible to understand eachother. We paid a lot of money for not meeting the standards.
Veerle Mertens — Google review
We really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. Staff were wonderful, food was amazing and the layout and location are exceptional. The restaurant and terrace are both spacious. We had the 2 course set menu (18.95 Euros) and a couple of relaxing drinks. The only thing wrong was we were overcharged and did not realise until we were a 3.5 km walk away.
Garry Wilkinson — Google review
We were told that Olivia's La Cala had a new head chef, and one that we knew was extremely talented. It's been several years since we were there last time and we weren't particularly impressed then, but now we wanted to give them another chance. And we don't regret it, they were right in the starting pits to open a French restaurant "Le Mirage de la Mer" upstairs. We got there when they opened for the day and the head chef David Boyejo Oluneye took care of us himself. We were served dishes from the new French menu and they were among the best we have had anywhere. The environment is fantastically pleasant and the location on the beach promenade perfect, a very well-run establishment which now also has very good and well-prepared food. The price level may seem high, but nowadays you really get value for money, we will certainly come back many more times.
Jonny Erixon — Google review
Came here for the Sunday roast, having tried various roasts in the Mijas area this was by the best, everything perfectly cooked and tasty. We had the chicken, beef and pork and all were delicious. Service was friendly and quick. Would have liked to tip more but they add service charge to the bill which was a bit strange but Im guessing because it is more of an evening place.
Kyle Hughes — Google review
Amazing experience. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was live entertainment and dancing. To top it off Elliott Wright was there and was happy to be photographed and mingle with the customers.

Honestly one of the best nights for a very long time Staff excellent food amazing highly recommend the lobster pasta and wagu steak Elliot popped in what a fantastic genuine gentleman Don’t think twice book and have a great night what topped the night Paula Rigel was singing OMG amazing lady fabulous voice

My family and I had dinner here on a Saturday night. Both the food and entertainment were 10/10. We visited at the end of October and it was fairly quiet however in the summer it’s rammed and you need to book well in advance. The house red wine was the best house wine we have ever tasted. Food was 10/10 and the service was second to none. We’ll be returning again soon.
Amy Davidson — Google review
Lovely beach side location. The food was very good, service as expected but not outstanding. Music too load for an evening dining experience. The drinks are very expensive and we didn't like the added on service charge of 12%
Ian Brand — Google review
Nice restaurant/bar beachside of cala de Mijas. We've been there only for supper and enjoyed the life music and a bottle of wine. Prices are reasonable for this kind of location, and the atmosphere is quite cosy. We will come back soon to try a dinner.

Don’t understand all the negative reviews If I’m honest so it must just be Jealous people and haters. We went tonight for dinner and the staff were amazing especially the lovely lady maitre d’ that greeted us upon arrival and showed us to our table. Excellent food! Great atmosphere and a live singer who was brilliant! Reasonably priced food and huge portions! 10/10 and will come back again!

Tapas bar
Lizarran is a great place to go to if you're looking for a Spanish cocktail party. They have around 200 different tapas to choose from, and the coffee is always good. It may be a chain, but it's still worth checking out.
Nice place to escape from the relentless consumerism and have a break before hitting Iceland. The coffee was good and the selection of tapas mouthwatering (they have around 200 different tapas and offer a selection of them each day). It doesn't help they walk around with platters to tempt you! It may be a chain but it's still worth giving it a try.
Couldbe Yue — Google review
Informal and laid back Lizarran is all about convinient, no fuss Spanish dishes. On the menu you will find ten fish dishes, five egs based dishes, ten sandwiches and sixteen meat dishes. The chorizo a la cidra (cider sauce) was tasty and the portion size generous. The service was cordial and friendly. A good option if you are after no frills, generous portions, Spanish food in the Fenguirola area.

Oh my God I could come here every day. The astounding variety of pintxos makes me so happy! Chicken falling off the bone, delicious chorizo and eggs—and for dessert, perfect lemon meringue pie.
Marne Mayer — Google review
Avoid at all cost !!!! Save your money!!! Staff are majority unfriendly. Some exceptions. Lots of them, but all seem super busy doing something else (not customer related) The menu Food is awful and I mean awful!!! - all reheated old meat and no love / skill in the kitchen Might as well buy something from Iceland (next door) and ask them to reheat, would be better quality! The tapas pixtos (which in other branches are amazing, great selection, fresh and imaginative) at this location, everything is fried and old, left to die and nothing refreshed. Poor Ordered the pork with Gorgonzola - chips were raw, the pork was obviously cooked some time ago and was soooo dry. If I dropped it on the floor it would bounce back up We also ordered a chicken and apple salad - this was covered (like a kids plate with tomato ketchup) with super sweet balsamic glaze. Four thin slices of apple and I had to send out a lost and found to find any chicken. Salad wasn’t dressed and the majority of the bowl were bread croutons. Not exactly a chicken salad as advertised Complained and waited, waited some more … Eventually, just asked for the bill - €38 for two dishes we didn’t eat plus a €3 charge for dry bread we also didn’t eat and sent back. No customer service offered not even a sorry We love Lizarran and would recommend usually, but this location needs looking at by the company as doesn’t come close to the usual standard The beers were nice 👌🏼
Brett Star — Google review
Waiter is very nice and professional but waiting time to order food is disgrace. They need to hire more ppl working in the peak time, especially if we take in consideration that this place is not cheap. Owner could spend some money and give better service to clients or he can help as well if he is so cheap because it's obvious that place is short stuff.
Matija Micek — Google review
Really unfriendly waitress with no customer service skills! Didn't day a word obviously having a bad day but is that my fault? Didn't offer a menu 8nly a plate! Menus confusing and expensive! What is this place allmabout? I've been to other lizarrans and much better service than this. Just because this has a high level of foreigners as customers is no excuse for bad service. If she doesn't want the job give it to someone else we only had a coffee but would have eaten had service been better
Philip Highway — Google review
I've been going there for years. The food is very hit and miss, but the service has gone downhill recently. They no longer seem to retain staff, the change almost weekly, and getting served is a big problem, despite two or three staff that seem to be doing nothing. To wait ten minutes for a drink has become almost normal. When the bill comes, check it.

La Familia Chiringuito is a highly recommended Mediterranean restaurant located on the Costa del Sol. The food is consistently delicious, and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. They strive to provide excellent service, even for those without reservations. The prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous. One dish that shouldn't be missed is the espeto white fish – it's a must-try!
Lovely fresh seafood. Friendly staff, all come together to make this a perfect place for lunch by the sea
Hezekiah Okoh — Google review
Very delicious food with good price-value ratio, very kind staff and nice view. You must book a table, because they are popular, and there is high chance for the restaurant is fully booked.
Attila Demeter- Szatm?ri — Google review
We visited La Familia after a walk along the boardwalk. The atmosphere was perfect; situated right in the beach, La Familia provides a great ocean view and fresh fish. We thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips. The dish was huge - it’s plenty to share between 2 people. It was a fun experience to watch the fish being cooked on the grill outside the restaurant on the beach. My only frustration with La Familia was that service took a long time. We tried to get our check several times; we finally managed to flag someone down after 20 minutes trying.
Stephanie Dickens — Google review
I love La familia chiringuito! The food is always good and the staff very welcoming, they always offer the best they can, regarding service, acomodation even when I arrive there without a reservation. I deffinetly recommended!!

Maybe one of the friendliest, most attentive and pleasant staff in Costa del Sol! Very value-for-money place and we found the portions to be quite generous. You cannot miss the espeto white fish. It’s a MUST TRY!

Friendly staff, beautiful location, laid back atmosphere and delicious food. The food is absolutely exquisite, the mixed fish fry is amazing. Also highly recommend the prawns pill pill, burger and artichoke starter. Food portions are generous and well priced. Sun beds are only €9 each and include a drink!

Love this place. Fabulous location on the beach. Staff are friendly& helpful. Very popular. Booking recommended - even for a beach bed 😊
Tricia Tayler — Google review
This is an honest review and fair of our experience. We were last here 4 years ago and always had a great meal. This year was not the same. Prices are definitely higher than other top restaurants in the area. We had a paella for 3 people and it cost €50. The paella was burnt on the bottom and certainly wasn’t anywhere near a €50 portion. It was very tasty but was very small and burnt. Not what I would expect to pay for €50. Would far rather go another 400m to El Torreón
Alan Rodger — Google review
The best restaurant in the area! Big variety of appetizers and main dishes. Staff is extremely polite and helpful. Beautiful view of the beach. I recommend to try grilled fish , it is so stunning . It is better to call and reserve the table in advance ( restaurant is always full of guests).

Fantastic meal. Steak and sea bass was really well cooked. We are a large group of 13 people and the service was excellent. Friendly family run restaurant with stunning sea views.
Craig Webb — Google review
Totally recommend it… should do a reservation in case of dinner… its one of the best restaurants we’ve been to… food is totally delicious sprcially the ones from the grill (evenings the grill is turned on) service and staff are very friendly…
Loai Z — Google review
It is a decent place to grab a bite right on the beach. We ordered different kinds of espetos, and they were all good. The only thing I was surprised by was when the bill came. Be advised that the menu pricing is, in my opinion, a bit deceptive. If you order an item that has a price indicating that it's for two people, be aware that it means they will bill you double that stated price.
Gino Ferma — Google review
Used the sunbeds here. Booking process was easy. Staff friendly. Beds are expensive compared to most others on the beach and service was terrible. Trying to get a drink was difficult. I could see some groups getting excellent service but I was barely acknowledged. It took over an hour to get a drink after ordering. Explained that it must have been forgotten but no apology. Atmosphere was ok with good location next to watersports. I don't think I'll return.
Sarah Mawer — Google review
La Familiar is a great day out if you love the beach. A fab beach with easy access to the sea (no stones, rocks etc), the sunbeds are well organised and the restaurant is fab! Never had a bad meal here and we love the laid back beach vibe. The food is always delicious and well cooked and I particularly love the boquerones & calamari ,but the paella here is also fab and the dessert Crema Catalans is fab! My husband had the Caesar salad which he very much enjoyed. Well worth a visit 😎
