I absolutely loved this place! Classy, just what I needed after coming from Mombasa. The Tuna dish was the best tuna I've EVER had! The drink was strong (just what I needed 😂).

The staff service was quick and efficient. We placed our order and had it very quickly. The food was very tasty as were the drinks. The pizza we had was flavourful, tasty and all the ingredients tasted fresh. The ambience is great as is the cleanliness of the restaurant. I would highly recommend a visit here if you visit Diani.

Best Italian Restaurant on Diani Beach. Owner has a really cool range rover parked outside. Delicious food. Always come here for the Seafood pasta. The pizza are good too. Came here once and after I been coming back handful of times. Been to diani over 5 times and ever time I visit I go here at least once. Good food and service. Great ambience and vibes

The restaurant is located in a middle of a courtyard and you can book semi private booth. The food is good but not incredible. The pizza are thin crust pizza and are quite decent.

Great atmosphere and some good food , Pizza was thin and crispy exactly as it should be (Italian style ) the pasta was tasty and the octopus was delicious (a little bit if sand) the Ice cream may find favour with the majority but as a for mer resident of Florence Italy it was below par for Italian flavour which is a shame , the lemon sorbet could have easily been made with local fruit and provided some zest. Just my opinion. Will visit again soon for the pizza. delicious octopus

What can I say about this restaurant... I love everything about it. We were travelling with a dog and it's one of the very few places that allows dogs in their restaurant. The owner was so kind to our dog and gave him water on a hot hot day. He kept checking up on us, but mostly him. 😃😃 While he cares for his customers, children and pets rank very high and I can't blame him. The staff are very kind offering the best service. The food is also great. We kept going back to it. If you eat pork: try the chef special pork pizza. Enjoy your meal there.

Loved it! The little privacy booths were super cool , intimate , warm and they were great to have fans in hand for the same. Quick service, great portions, and the food itself is Great! Highly recommend.

Pizza was tasty, however that's not original Italian style, and there's a lot of cheese. Good service, I got chili and garlic sauce when asked.

The porkchops were well seasoned and juicy not dry. The crostini was good hot & gooey. The carbanara was okay could have used more seasoned egg yolks but was good nonetheless. Recommended for sure!

This is a place to go to if you want to go out and dine at Ukunda Beach. I would highly recommend a visit because of the food. I am satisfied by they’re meals and would say that you will be satisfied as well. The reviews say a lot about this restaurant! (The picture is just a starter)

We had the Gnocchi Quattro Formaggi and a Peanut Butter Milkshake. Both were very delicious. Great price-performance. Service is also very good.

For the price I expected better. Small portion. Luckily we had a starter. It's pasta from a packet for the spaghetti at least. They should switch to fresh pasta and tagliatelle based on what I had. I was quite disappointed with my dish. The taste was good however. It was lacking substance. It's a nice setting inside and would be a fine place to dine out in the evening as we went quite early. The portion might be sufficient for you so try for yourself.

What a beautiful place in Diani. Our waiter was so welcoming and top-notch. She made us almost order everything from the kitchen😅😅. The food was so tasty, i enjoyed my lasagna. Whenever i come back, this will always be my dining place!

Perfect spot while in Diani. The prices are so affordable for authentic Swahili dishes, most of the food is ready made so it's easy to just walk in and eat immediately. Loved it!

The place is beautiful and the food is good and plenty. But Too many houseflies please do something about it. Also the service is a bit slow. Other than that, food is great.

Being a foodie, I couldn't help but just visit this restaurant to experience the great Swahili delicacies 😋 Loved the coconut fish, some chicken byriani and then drunk me some cold ukwajo juice (allow me not to translate)😁 Very great ambiance and service 👌🏾

If you are looking for an informal, authentic place to try local food this is a good choice. Can't say I was blown away by the food, but it was good and inexpensive, and overall was an experience worth having. Tip: the tamarind juice is delicious, but the ice cubes are made with unfiltered water.

Coastal food is the best kind of food in Kenya hands down any day. And this place tries its hand at it. I would not give them five star compliment but at least I would thank them for trying. A for effort. Sadly swahili food has difficulty to transfer from home to mass production. All a restaurant can do is try and here is the best effort. I loved the chicken bitiyina I had here. I will do it again.

Excellent Swahili food! Definitely a top spot in Diani. I went multiple times and the service was quite hit or miss. Sometimes it was slow and others it was much faster. No consistency in this aspect. That said, I always returned. The food is incredibly worth the wait, always hot, and the portions are extremely generous. Great value

Service was terrible and it took forever for our table to be cleaned so we had to stare at dead flies and dirty dishes for 30 minutes. But you know what they say about not very clean spaces producing great tastes(or maybe not). When the food finally came, it was great....at least the pilau was....don't order the biriani please, not good at all. They have good fish too!

Was recommended as a place to try for local cuisine. It was busy so seems like many people do like it but it was just not memorable. The more typical dishes like pilau/biryani seem to be okay but the others, even simple chips, fried chicken, samosa... went unfinished. Leave alone the masala chicken 🤢

Usually Java is good, this branch is so-so. Also waitress was rude. Counter lady was nice. Malindi Macchiato was a disappointment. See picture from menu vs. the reality. The same was true for the other orders made.

Very terrible experience considering the precedent set by other Java restaurants. My friend and I ordered for a double burger ....it had no fillings, just cheese and the patty. We couldn't eat and decided to have it packed but the packaging was bogus as well. The manager called Christine was very rude. This is the worst experience ever.

Great place for a quick coffee, or even beer and lunch. They have great breakfast too. The outdoor area is pretty boring and not very charming in a parking lot, but spacious. Prices are fairly high but reasonable. Service a little slow but works for the place

They advice on healthy meals that one can take. Fresh food is served. There's outdoor and indoor sitting. Various ways you can pay. Great coffee as usual, affordable and very tasty food. The internet is also very fast. Always eager to try their monthly food deals. I had the chicken wings which was delicious, my daughter had the kid's portion of chips and beef sausages with strawberry milkshake. Overall we enjoyed the early dinner, had the chocolate cake for dessert *forgot to take a picture* and vannila icecream which was delicious...editing to add chicken fajitas, kids beef burger , ice coffee which I have had countless of times and espresso

We had a great experience. The service was great! Very polite, professional and attentive! Beautiful atmosphere. Enjoyed our food as well. The sauce on the sea bass really made the dish. Our friends' first experience with beef tartar and we all thought it was great. They sang for our friend's birthday and gave a little desert treat. My only critique is the vanilla custard texture was gritty. Highly recommend. Overall a wonderful experience 🙂

Such a wonderful experience! My friends and I drove all the way from Mombasa just to come here and it was worth the hype! Ambiance matches the food and staff were really lovely and timely with the food. Prices are also somewhat reasonable. I would recommend checking the menu on the website before going.

They offer transport to and fro to all guest residing in the beach front hotels which was very convenient. The cave is mindblowing especially at night giving a very romantic set up. Their cocktails are definitely worth it...

This place it’s special for 2 reasons. One it’s the owner with his vision in creating a fine dining experience, and second is the amazing a setup in a cave thousands of years old. It’s unique and worth booking a table in advance . The staff is friendly, well trained and competent. You’ll most likely meet the man behind all of this and he’ll make sure you’ll have the best time.

We enjoyed an excellent diner in an unique atmosphere. Food is great, staff friendly, ambitious and skilled. It’s not expensive for what you get offered. Crepes get flamed at you table, very impressive! Thanks for picking up and bringing back.

The absolute worst dining experience of my life! The food is mediocre - I ordered a vegetarian linguine, it was not bad but nothing special. The service however was utterly disappointing. We waited 30 mins AFTER finishing our starter before our main dish (linguine) arrived. One of the chef (maybe he was head chef) walked around outside asking diners if they were enjoying the food and I took this chance to politely tell him that I was a little upset that the linguine took almost 30 mins to arrive, and he immediately got extremely defensive and told me this was normal in a restaurant, and a lot more reasons. When I told him then I must have not been to too many restaurant since I don’t find it’s too normal, he told me “pls don’t talk to me like that”. There was zero apology from him. Why go around asking diners if they are enjoying if he is not receptive to feedback??? His attitude ruined my dining experience, and really ruined Mombasa for me. I unconditionally do not recommend this restaurant . Even without the bad attitude, the food is not worth the price. Please do better.

Ali Barbour's has had some mixed reviews in the recent past, but has taken these to heart and now has a new chef and the food has greatly improved. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience there on 26 August 2023 and the food was delicious!

A very cozy place. The ambience is so welcoming. Ali Barbour's Cave is excellent for dinners with family and friends. Great service from all staff. The service is top notch. I highly recommend it. Good to call/ book a table.

Food is good quality but nothing more, presentation is certainly appreciated although there is a bit more work to be done, on a negative note, please stop serving ice cream on a plate, use the proper serving ice cream bowls. Service is well-captured and attentive, all waiters were super nice, thank you for making us feel welcomed. Dining inside a cave is certainly a new experience, but lighting could be improved, when the roof gets closed its dark beyond romantic. Nevertheless interesting place to visit. Can't comment on prices as I was a guest, cocktails were nice. Enjoy your visit.

Unique experience on dining inside a cave. Highly recommend to come and have dinner. Plus, the food it great. We had the fish of thebday, Madagascar meat and appetizers prawn in whisky and chicken leave pate.

Ali Barbour's cave restaurant is a must have experience. The ambience, the service, the food it is all exemplary! I was worried about vegetarian options before visiting the place. However they had really great options this was an absolute plus. They even offered pick up and drop off which was really nice. I definitely recommend a visit if you are ever in Diani. Absolutely worth it

Very nice experience in Ali Barbour. This place definitely has a romantic atmosphere. Service was very good and polite. All dishes especially lobster were very good. I must say chocolate dessert did not meet my expectations, probably should have went with cheesecake. Of course it is on pricier side for Diani Beach but it's definitely worth going and experiencing dinner in the cave. It's superb that they offer a ride back to hotel or ab&b stay.

Amazing atmosphere, very good location. I recommend to go at 18 so you can enjoy the place even with the light. I am vegetarian and I found very good good choices. The risotto was incredible!!! Really recommended also the lime cheese cake. Prices are definitely higher than any other restaurants in diani but it’s really worth it. The staff super helpful and the quality of the food was great!

As vegetarians we were apprehensive about trying out Ali Barbour's Cave Restaurant. We heard good reviews about the food and atmosphere but looking at the menu we saw we would be limited in options as vegetarians. We ordered the smoked beetroot for starters, and all 3 vegetarian options for mains - vegetable and cheese risotto, tofu and linguine with roasted aubergine. The beetroot, risotto and tofu were to die for. We literally had a party in our mouth from the burst of flavours. The linguine had a strong herb that wasn't to our taste that didn't work for us. For dessert we shared the vanilla custard and could almost swear we got a taste of heaven from the first bite. We would highly recommend Ali Barbour Cave Restaurant. The concept and ambience is beautiful and unique in Kenya.

THE most amazing meal on the last day of our holiday. Had the 5.30 to 8.30 slot, so we could see the sky in both daylight, dusk and the starry night, was fabulous! Food was lovely, my steak cooked to perfection & my Mum loved her duck main course, The staff were attentive but not intrusive. It's not cheap, but it's so worth it. HIGHLY recommend.

Nice outdoor open space with beautiful beach and easy access. Child friendly and high chairs available. Wide range of food options for veg and non veg. Pizzas and sushi platter were delicious. Eggless Icecream parlour on site. Staff were friendly and attentive. Covid secure. Would highly recommend.

This place is magnificent! The beach, the breeze and amazing food. Anything you can crave, they have it. I love the soups and sushi, but my kids love the fish and chips. The desserts are delicious not to mention all the home made ice creams and sorbets! This is a must stop if you are visiting Diani.

Beautiful space right on the beach. Lovely breakfast menu . Octopus in coconut sauce was the highlight of the menu for me. Great thin and crispy pizza also. Service friendly and efficient but not intrusive. Nice place to hang out. And no rush ……pole pole🤪

I went there for the scuba and stayed for the lunch. Loved the food, the view was splendid as well. I'll definitely be back.

The atmosphere is a 10/10, such a beautiful view of the ocean. Had the prawn sushi and fish tacos. The sushi was nice but the fish tacos were a bit underwhelming and lacking in flavour. You also have to pay 1,500 at the entrance but its redeemable and can be used for your meal/drinks Overall it's decent value for your money

We were looking for something different (better) than the food in our resort and are sooooo glad we ventured beyond the gates of our hotel to find The Nomad. The food was the best we’ve had in all of Diani Beach - from the mango gazpacho to the pizza and the strawberry milkshake (for me) and the Caesar salad and fish tacos and a variety of mixed drinks (for my wife) we couldn’t have been happier with the food, the view, the ambience and the service.

Great place right by the beach. Food was great and so was service. We have tried fried calamari, goat stew and grilled snapper. Snapper was rather dry but still good, rest was just delicious. Sorbets and melted chocolate cake were worth it. It's a great place to have a beach walk to. Entrance is right from the beach.

My first time ever at this place,4 yrs ago,was pathetic..Visited once more after the 4yrs and i love that some things have changed... A nice place to have your meals with a view,good food too...i still have some buts with the service though...

This place has a relaxed atmosphere with a pleasant ocean breeze in a refined setup. It’s ideal also for larger groups. We enjoyed our food, with German size portions (meaning big!) and carefully plated dishes. The service was great and the staff is very friendly. It gets 4 stars since we didn’t like the cocktails. Definitely there’s room for improvement. If you are into other drinks, there’s a huge selection of wines and spirits from all around the world. It’s definitely a place we would recommend.

Beautiful beach club with great food selection. We came here every day during our stay at Diani and have food/drinks throughout the day. The beach doesn’t have any sun loungers so this is a nice place to stay and you can leave your things while you do some water sports and activities
