Lodeve

Lodève is a commune in the department of Hérault, in the region of Occitania, southern France. It is a subprefecture of the department. The derivation of the city's name is from Gaulish Luteva, composed of lut-, swamp, mud + suffix -eva. It might therefore translate as the muddy place or the swamp city. Wikipedia.

bad experience all along. Food was average, salad with grilled vegetables. that were scarce and over cooked, the mozzarella smelled like the fridge, the tomatoes were clearly supermarket ones. long wait to get served, and even pay! very slow and not very friendly staff. Even the coffee was bad! Overpriced for what is served.

What a horrible experience. My family ate at this restaurant after most other places had closed for the afternoon. We were told that they would only serve salads- no more meals. As we were hungry, we stayed. We ordered 3 salads that took a considerable amount of time along with a surly waiter. The salad with the foie gras and chicken gibblets was unappetizing and most horrifying of all was the chicken caesar salad which had a raw piece of chicken. We sent back the raw chicken salad and asked for the bill- which charged us for all 3. After refusing to pay for the raw salad the staff started to argue back saying they had extended service for us and offered us another salad. If this was such an issue we would have gladly left instead of being treated to such a disgusting meal. Finally they relented and removed the salad from the bill. Everyone beware- terrible service and food.

The royal coucous is excellent, the meat is tender, the vegetables are perfectly cooked and it is very hearty. I recommend ! The worst dinner ever in our life. We paid 38€ for the worst food ever. We ordered 3 courses: the rice was like plastic, the chicken was overwhelmed and the crab had no tasty .

Le Petit Sommelier is a remarkable bistro that offers exceptional French cuisine. The menu showcases refined dishes with a delightful blend of flavors, making it a rare find in today's culinary scene. The staff at this establishment are truly outstanding, with the head of the room demonstrating impressive expertise as she efficiently manages the entire dining area single-handedly. This phenomenal local restaurant should not be overlooked, as it provides an unforgettable dining experience.
Phenomenal local bistro featuring exquisite French cuisine! The staff is extraordinary! Not to be missed!

Horrible restaurant! We came as a group of 5 people, 3 of us wanted to eat a full course and the other two where just craving some desserts, the lady server refused to serve the desserts saying that “we are not a tea shop/restaurant and everywhere in France you cannot eat just desserts in a restaurant” which is an outright lie! After confronting her about this she just grabbed the utensils and said that we can leave. To be honest she should be fired and never work in this industry! We do not recommend this dumpster of a place!

(Translated by Google) Nice stopover before the visit to the museum with refined cuisine, hearty and very good dishes, a mixture of flavors that is very rare today. The kindness of the head of the room and especially her experience because she alone manages a full room. Bravo and thank you for this moment. Continue like this.

Great lunch today with lovely food and good friendly service (plus lovely weather), all at a reasonable price. We would certainly eat there again.
Nicholas Gomersall — Google review
Horrible service, waitress refused to serve the table because only 3 out of the 5 people were eating main courses and the other 2 only wanted deserts. Absolutely no manners, very rude and racist personnel. Do not, I repeat, do NOT eat here.

Le Petit Sommelier is in may ways the ideal traditional French restaurant. The couple who run it are delightful and the food in really good. On our last visit I had what were probablly the best lamb chops I've eaten. We have been going there for years, and will continue to do so in the future. If you want a taste of the real South of France Le Petit Sommelier is the place to find it.

Aanbevolen als beste restaurant in de stad maar wat een koude ontvangst door de vrouw van de baas/kok en wat een teleurstellende prestaties voor een veel te hoge prijs. (Translated by Google) Recommended as the best restaurant in town, but what a cold reception by the wife of the boss/cook and what disappointing performance for a much too high price.

Very nice place, nice people, good service, and a nice menu/carte. A nice place to have dinner with friends and family 👪

Delightful restaurant in a charming town. Delicious menu to suit all pockets. It was 32°C outside while inside it was comfortable with A/C. So we ordered several salads and were not disappointed. Again the local white wine, a picpoul was a great accompaniment to the magnet de canard. The curried vegetables were less successful. The crumble was to die for. It’s a family run restaurant with the father in the kitchen and son serving at table. Professional and knowledgeable. Recommended.

Zeker langsgaan! (Translated by Google) In an apparently deserted town you will find two Dutch chefs who serve the most delicious dishes (with, I hear, local ingredients) on the table. A small, cozy restaurant in a beautiful historic street where you can enjoy 'normal', almost Dutch in French. Definitely visit!

Delicious and well prepared plates, presented elegantly against a warm and cozy backdrop. We enjoyed duck breast, warm chevre wrapped in filou dough, gravlax salmon, fresh greens, stuffed aubergine with falafel and artisanal beer. Also appreciated that they offer mostly organic wine. They graciously accepted us at lunch time half an hour before closing, for the day and their month+ seasonal closure. The ambiance, bustling and smiling energy (no false manners here) and gastro dishes are not to be missed. Many thanks and bonnes vacances! See you next year.
