So first time I came here it was very quiet, the atmosphere and furnishings are lovely. I've had Katie serve me twice now and both times she was lovely, welcoming and warm which made the experience that much nicer. The first time I came here I had the cream tea which I had been craving and I was lucky enough to find a cafe here in market rasen that did so. I feel that this is a lovely little gem hidden away and I would highly recommend here and shall be bringing my mum as I know she'll love this place too

An absolute gem of a place! Loved the fact they also do slimming friendly choices. Food was great, staff were lovely & prices were good. We went today in honour of my mums 2nd heavenly birthday & she would've loved it! Will definitely visit again 😃

A great place to visit. Warm and friendly. Really approachable staff. Excellent cakes and great homeworker food. Very dog friendly too. They get very busy at lunchtime so I would advise booking. They are 100% about the community and provide the elderly with meals at lunchtime. It is great They cook everything from fresh.

I recently hired the Nice and Naughty catering trailer for my 30th birthday festival party where Nicola and her team did not disappoint. Everyone loved the food, it went down a treat and really fitted into my festival themed party. Nicola was happy, friendly and helpful, the trailer was great and looked the part next to the band and fire pit. I would highly recommend this for anyone wanting a burger and hot dog trailer for their party, the prices were good and food was even better, there was a good variety available, along with vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options and Nicola brought extras just in case! Thank you again for helping make my festival birthday a hit.

Service was great, food was great and reasonably priced as well. The children's Afternoon Tea also went down really well! I'll be recommending it to my friends and will be back again if I'm in the area.

Lovely little cafe, lovely food and lovely staff. The food looked lovely on other people's plates and the food I ate was high standard. On a superb note, their speciality tea actually included loose leaf teas and not just tissanes as you find in most cafes. I would definitely return.

What a great place. Rang early today to ask about gluten free cakes.....one was freshly made (lemon drizzle and best I've tasted) - where else would do that?? Nice surroundings, friendly staff, good service, couldn't ask for more. The meals on the menu looked appetizing and all freshly cooked.. Lots of gf options too. Highly recommended....and thank you.

It was quite nice, but I thought the price was rather expensive. We had 2 cheese and onion toasties and tea for two. The bill came to £15.00, the ingredients were of cheap quality, white sliced bread, cheddar cheese and a small amount of chopped tomatoes and cucumber on the side. However the staff were friendly and the place appeared to be clean. There's a list of up and coming evening events on the wall which looked interesting. I would like to go back to try the evening food and entertainment. I didn't visit the toilet so not sure if a wheelchair would be able to manage?

Government funded to provide hot meals to the disabled. Failed to do so. When questioned; blocked from their FB messenger, then blocked from page. (I have all the screenshots). Was promised a call at 10:30 hours today; to no avail…! My opinion is they are not fit for purpose and should not have further funding. Merely my opinion.

Been in today and it was fab. Loved everything. All the girls were lovely and management could mot be more accommodating . Highly recommend this bistro bar and cafe. Going back tonight for quiz and cocktails.

Bit of a wait for food but that was ok as we knew things were cooked to order. We loved being able to bring our dog in with us (& he sat very quietly under the table). A big pot of tea (3 or 4 cups) is always a bonus.

Amazing food. Great atmosphere, especially when the bingo is on. The staff are friendly and beautiful people. If you are ever in market rasen I recommend popping in for something to eat or a cuppa. I also recommend the Sunday carvery

I read a lot of good reviews about this location but I was disappointed by my visit. Sunday morning breakfast after race meeting. Sat with no issues, staff were polite. not visually busy, not informed of any staff shortages or issues. Ordered a breakfast and a sandwich. Ultimatley took an hour for order to come out. ⁸ updates on why the delay occurred during our wait. Sat for a long time waiting. Others came and left dissatisfied. When order did come, literally everything on plate was overdone. Egg was brown on bottom and essentially rubber at that stage. When asked how the food was, I specifically pointed out the egg was unedible, I was offered a replacement to the eggs but honestly at that stage I didn't want to wait an unknown amount of minutes to eat two eggs by themselves. Who would? Honestly it was probably a bad day for the place, when paying the bill they only charged for food and not the drinks. We had nursed 2 drinks for the hour and the second drink i ordered never arrived. At the end they explained they were short staffed and were sharing between multiple locations which contributed to the issues we found. Reality is that they should have said that at the start and being short staffed doesn't excuse the lack of communication. It also doesn't excuse the end product that was provided being of such poor quality Overall our experience was bad and we are unlikely to go back considering previous experience. I am kinda saddened by the fact that we experienced this given the general good reviews. I was hesitant to give such a bad review but its only fair to share our experience in an open manner

Had a Prosecco Afternoon Tea today to celebrate my husbands’ birthday (which was a surprise gift) and had a fantastic time. I booked via email and Nicola made the arrangements and took the menu choices. She asked if we were celebrating anything, so I mentioned it was for a birthday. Upon arrival the ladies had put balloons on the table and wished my husband a happy birthday. This was a lovely gesture and made the visit that bit more special. All the ladies were absolutely lovely and the food was gorgeous. Lovely homemade savouries and cakes 😋. They even surprised my husband with some chocolate cake with sparklers in. As we weren’t able to eat everything we was given boxes to take home what was left, so we can continue celebrating later. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff for your kindness and we’ll be visiting you again soon. Nigel and Pam

If I could give this place 10 stars I would.. it was our first time visiting The Gate of India and we will 100% be back. The hospitality, food and atmosphere were all absolutely incredible. Our family all agreed that it was the best curry we had ever had. Would highly recommend coming to this restaurant! 10/10

Heard the place was back to its old form! I heard right! Class food, friendly service with a touch of banter! Food was spot on, served fast and mega (just like the gate of old)! Nann bread phenomenal! I’ll be back!

Went last night for a meal with my husband for his birthday. The staff were so attentive and funny (especially Mia) and the food was fantastic. So tasty and quickly brought out. Nothing too much trouble for them and they made the night special for my husband. I recommend the chicken Karahi 👌👌👌👌

My wife and I visited the gate of India on Bank Holiday Monday. What an absolutely lovely restaurant. The staff couldn't be more accommodating down to the smallest detail. And the food was excellent. Absolutely 10 out of 10 if we could have scored 20 out of 10 . We would have. The next time we are in the vicinity we will be going again 🙏.

Lovely food, ordered a takeaway. Wasn’t sure what to expect as we’re from Leicester and are used to excellent curries. We were all very pleasantly surprised and very much enjoyed it. All four of us agreed one of the best curries we’ve had!

Always feel welcome here and staff are lovely. It's clean and comfortable, but a bit dated, like having an Indian at your grandma's, but that kind of adds to its charm. Food comes quickly and everyone has always enjoyed it. I had Nawabi Special Duck which is thick and creamy and very mild, but could do with a little more flavour (although maybe perfect for kids?). Also if you get poppadoms and pickle tray you don't get the minty one unless you ask. Everywhere is different though, so it's not a bad thing. Would definitely go back and try something else.

The restaurant itself is fine, the food is fine. Not spectacular but nice enough. However, they overcharged us by about £20. Me and my partner went for a meal and our food totalled £49, plus two cokes and a lemonade, and we were given a bill for £68? The bill was all handwritten, which I didn’t like. It wasn’t typed out as though put through a till, and I couldn’t read the writing that well. We thought the bill was steep but it was only when I got home and checked the prices on the menu again that I realised how much we were overcharged, will not eat here again.

We came in the first of January and my daughter said her birthday is in 7 days so the waiter gave my daughter a birthday card. The waiters are very nice! And funny. Also the food was delicious!

Just ordered and picked up a takeaway. Popadoms burnt and the chicken madras sauce left a pool of water on my plate. The other curries ordered were very ordinary. Very disappointing.

Uaually a go to for an Indian take away but last night meal has left us very dissapointed we ordered Pasanda which was bland and underwhelming. Pilau rice which was just plain boiled rice no seasoning. And poppadoms that were all broken. Not sure what went wrong as usually the food is amazing.

Friendly local pub. We were visiting Market Rasen and staying overnight for the races. We joined in the pub quiz and raffle and the regular customers and landlord were very welcoming. Will definitely come back for a visit.

Great food , good service and Guinness spot on , if I had any complaint it would be we were not asked if everything was ok, but thats just me, would recommend to friends

Had a lovely meal. Well cooked and plenty of it at a very reasonable price. My pet hate sticky tables and chairs was very low too table size too eat properly. But we did enjoy it

Myself and my friends have been going into this pub for a number of years but I have been prompted to write a review following one that I have recently read regarding the brunette member of staff. I am so pleased that someone else has experienced the same attitude from her as we have, I really thought it was just me and my mates that she took offence to. It really is like Faulty Towers how she will blatantly ignore you and serve and chat to her friends instead. I am 40 years old and I have never experienced anything like it. It's a real shame that she is like this as I do like the pub but I won't be going back in whilst she is there. Hopefully she will move on and get a far more appropriate job like a traffic warden!!!! On a positive, the choice of lagers is good but me and my mates will be off to the Swan!!!!!

Just been to the Aston Arms Market Rasen. Had a steak and Stout pie with extra gravy chips and peas. OMG it was amazing! It's real home made with plenty of filling and the taste was fabulous. Gravy to die for, nice and thick! Great value for money, would absolutely recommend!

Quick visit to the area and called in for lunch, great fish and chips with mushy peas, tasty fish, served quickly considering many people were ordering food, good price, would recommend.

Mediocre at best, kids, dogs, noise and food that was OK, best bit was chunky chips. I won't be rushing back. Shame as its local and I hoped for better. It was also difficult to work out the difference between staff and customers

I'd say the best pub in the village for a nice chilled quiet pint, it's lively don't get me wrong but the other pubs in the area seem to be full of loud mouth youths (nothing wrong with that) I was looking to just sit back and enjoy a pint, nice church behind too.

Lovely little country pub, stopped for a late lunch on Saturday, fast service & food was excellent for the price. Last time I visited was a few years ago & had Lincolnshire sausage pie couldn't find it on the menu this time which was a shame as I remembered how delicious it was, ordered a all day breakfast which was lovely although not Lincolnshire sausage, my partner had a cheeseburger which he said was lovely.

Had a nice lunch here a while back. Visited because of the Elton John/Bernie Taupin connection, because I’m sad like that. I’m probably not the only one to have done this.

My favourite place for chips, very reasonable prices and extremely friendly staff, always chatting with customers. I love their food! All the fish is cooked to order and is hearty and delicious, you should definitely make this your regular chippy!

Fish & Chip Heaven! Just like from my childhood in Lincolnshire, so pleased there are still traditional places like this around, no nonsense just great simple food. As I live far away now when I'm visiting I love to try different chippy's and I think this must be the best in Lincolnshire!!!

Really nice service from the ladies behind the counter. Fish was cooked to order from entering the shop. Fish and chips cooked very nicely and more than enough for the both of us. So easy when there us a car park just behind the shop (just a bit further up the road to Tesco and a quick left turn). And if you think you might struggle to open the door to get in, they have that covered too.

Very busy chip shop so busy they were queing down the street the food was very nice and reasonably priced

A great place for Fish and Chips. Food always taste great and is hot. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Due to food being so great there is always a large queue of people but staff are super quick so you never wait long. Highly recommend .

We were recommended to try the food here. I plumped for the homemade steak pie with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My partner deep fried scampi and chips with mushy peas. Washed down with tea for two. Not the largest of portions but quite adequate.

Really lovely place. Fantastic clean rooms, super breakfast and really love service. Jacob at the bar was really kind and helpful as I was travelling alone. Jane serving breakfast and cleaning the rooms was also excellent. Would defiantly recommend and I would definitely stay here.

Working in the local area and staying in Louth but not at the king's head , so can't comment on the rooms as not stayed here, but the food is great, home cooked and much better than ping meals elsewhere. Reasonably priced beer. TVs with sports on, pleasant staff and nice atmosphere

Would not hesitate on recommending this hotel. Great location in the centre of Louth. The room was although small it had all the facilities including tea and coffee and was cleaned every day . The staff were wonderful and courteous.

We went on Saturday evening . The food was absolutely gorgeous. Three of us had the Steak and Ale pie . It’s was delicious and probably by far the best we have ever tasted. Along with the mixed grill . I must also recommend the service from Sarah was brilliant. Very helpful , quick and nothing was too much trouble . She made our night even more lovely and will definitely be returning again , Thankyou

I arranged a buffet reception here for 40 people to follow a Memorial Service. The manager and staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, the room we used was totally comfortable and suitable for the occasion, and the buffet was excellent and at a very reasonable price. I very rarely give 5* reviews but the King's Head deserve them. I did not stay in the hotel, but on the basis that it's the people who make the place, I would have no hesitation in booking a room there.

We spent the day in Louth and decided to stop out for tea. I asked in a local store if they could recommend a place to eat but no suggestions made. We walked around and we were put off by all the other establishments welcoming dogs. I do not like any eating establishment that allows dogs. We then found the Kings Head. What a place, top service, food to die for. Even though we had never been there before we were made to feel that it was our local. Keep up the good work. We did not stay over just a day trip.

Everything was great, food ,location and the welcome. The staff, all young, were friendly, funny and respectful. My only concern was the stairs....very odd and uneven. If you're young I'm sure you won't have a problem, I'm 72 and not as sure footed.. thanks for a good stay. Sandra from Yorkshire

Restaurant Review Only: What can I say... this place was superb. The staff were very friendly and were exceptionally kind to our two children. Food was cooked to perfection and you could tell everything was home made. Chips were to die for. Kids meals tasted just as good as mine amd my wife's. Would recommend and eat there again!

Good hotel in Louth Town centre. Rooms clean and ok. Comfy bed. Be warned, we stayed on a Saturday night. Don't expect to get any sleep before midnight as a band was playing in the bar and was very loud. Good cooked breakfast.

Have not stopped in hotel as I live in the town, so can't review rooms, but have eaten here a couple of times. Had a lunchtime meal here back in late summer, we all had steak burger with chip & onion rings, all homemade, with dressed salad which being honest I think the bested burger I have ever had. We went again last week four of us for evening meal waited about 25 minutes as all cooked fresh a sirloin steak, beef and ale pie, chicken fajita served on sizzling iron & a veggie burger all absolutely superb. Not forgetting the staff who where very polite & nothing to much trouble. Already organising another visit in near future. Thanks to all.

Absolutely disgusted with the “service” we received. My husband and I read the signs of the car park before entering. We parked up and then double checked the signs to make sure we are in the correct spot and don’t need to pay or display any ticket. Upon us entering the pub itself we got “greeted” by who we assume is the owner saying “you parked in the wrong place guys” in a very rude voice. When my husband said we came in to get some food, all she said was “oh, alright”. This put us off straight away and we didn’t want to eat there anymore. When we asked one of the staff members, who was actually nice, to be let out the owner lady came storming in. When my husband told her that she’s put us off with her “greeting”, she didn’t seem to mind one bit. She was rude again and said she saw us look at the signs and they clearly say you don’t have to pay. She also started calling my husband rude when he was trying to explain we were just making sure we followed all the car park rules. We never received an apology or any acknowledgment of her doing anything wrong. I’ve never seen anyone so rude and condescending in my life.

We had a staff meal at the Kings Head on Saturday night. It was lovely and hot but we were waiting a fair while for our main course to come out and alot of people already had theirs.

Just went for lunch whilst visiting relatives in Louth. Good range on the menu. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Ate upstairs, very spacious.

Popped in for lunch with friends, all of us ordered the lasagna, which despite a wee wait, was worth it. Clearly made from scratch, and done properly. Served hot, with a delicious garnish salad and chips. Very tasty. Service was spot on. Clean toilets, and nice atmosphere overall. Can’t comment on rooms as haven’t stayed.
