During my stay in Heiligenblut, I had the opportunity to visit Casa Antica, where I indulged in a delightful Neapolitan pizza. The Inferno Mortale caught my attention with its warning about its spiciness, and it certainly lived up to its reputation, being topped with ground Naga Jolokia (Ghost Pepper). While not suitable for those who shy away from fiery flavors, experienced spice enthusiasts should definitely give it a try.
Ordered carryout from Di Casa, and the “Inferno Mortale” pizza does not disappoint! 🥵🥵🥵 The menu lists it after “Vulcano (hot),” “Vesuvio (very hot).” The Inferno Mortale is described as “inedibly hot,” and, if you order it, the staff will warn you that it is so, and that it is not a joke. I ordered it anyway. I have a high tolerance for spicy food, and in ten years living in Austria, I have yet to encounter any food, even in Indian restaurants, that provides an exhilarating level of spicy heat. My family ordered three other kinds of pizza which were all very good. I ate one bite of mine, with everyone watching. The jalapeños on it are the *least* of your worries. The not-so-secret sauce is the olive oil infused with Carolina Reaper peppers. That first bite started very nice, with heat that built and built and never stopped. Big sip of cold water. By the second bite, my face was red and my wife said she could tell how hot it was by the way I was chewing it - as if I could somehow keep it from touching the inside of my mouth. I finished the first piece (this is restaurant pizza, meant for one or two people, so the pieces aren’t large) with just water. The second piece required some milk to absorb the heat (I even added some cream I had on hand). I couldn’t eat a third piece. I consider this to be a challenge I was unable to meet, and no failing on the restaurant. In fact, I applaud them for putting something so unique on the menu. Bravo! I hope you enjoy their pizza if you come to the beautiful Heiligenblut, and if you want a real challenge that will entertain your companions, try the Inferno Mortale. For myself, next time I will try the Vesuvio. 🙂

Absolutely delicious pizza with a view of Großglockner right from the terrace. The place was rather busy when I visited and we needed to wait for a table (the pizza was absolutely worth it).

Nice and cosy place with super friendly service. Great pizza, very tasty. Nice red wine and very good coffee. The list of pizzas on the menu is super long 😁, so take your time to do a proper selection. Highly recommended.

very tasty food. Pizza's are fresh, and italian styled, these are not fastfood sponge ''pizza''. Very quick service, even with larger groups. We had dinner here twice. Prices are reasonable.

I love the place...we love the place:) so far we tried few pizzas, soups (excellent minestrone and tomato) and wine. And spirits. And coffee. And afogato. Pizza is so delicious, one does not expect to taste it outside Itay and the soup was simply superb like home cooked. The place is cosy and homey and the staff very nice. Probably reservation needed in high sesason. Reasonable prices ...oh and we love the music inside...80s and 90s rock and the chef sings to tunes:)

We visited this place while staying in Heiligenblut. I was expecting a Neapolitan pizza and luckily it was. Delicious and well done. I tried Inferno Mortale. The waitress warned me it is very spicy position on menu. Turns out that pizza was sprinkled with ground Naga Jolokia (Ghost Pepper). If you are an amateur of spicy food, this is not the position for you ;) If you have experience, be sure to try it. The next pizza was the Quattro Stagioni - very tasty. I highly recommend this place.

We were seated on the right side of the restaurant, which does not give you the right vibe of the restaurant. Ordering tomato soup with sour cream was pretty good. Furthermore, we ordered pizza ortolana, which was too watery, in my opinion, and it needed salt. Service was alright. They came to ask a few times if everything was good.

The terrace offers stunning views and surroundings at Café-Restaurant Dorfstub'm. On Saturdays, the local brass band parades down the street and performs in the nearby town square, creating an enjoyable atmosphere. It is highly recommended to try their delicious goulash soup and knodel while enjoying the band's music. Although the service can be sluggish due to high demand, reserving a table in advance is advisable for a satisfying experience.
We ordered cordon bleu and cheese dumplings. Both meals were tasty. The lady serving us was kind and knew German and English, and the menu was in English. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant.

Food is average. I had gulash soup which was really good but main course ruined it all. Beef was really hard and had lots of strings making it hard to cut not even mention how hard it was to chew it. We also had dumplings which were quite good. Service is super polite. Shame they didn't deduct moneu Y for food I haven't eaten.

We visited this restaurant twice on our skiing holiday. The food was excellent and the mother and daughter her served us spoke very good English, considering my very limited German. Great food, friendly service. Well worth a visit

The views and surroundings are wonderful from the terrace. Ate here on a Saturday, where the local brass band march down the street and into the small building to play in the town square, this happens every Saturday, right across from the restaurant. Great experience to watch and listen to the band whilst enjoying excellent food, the goulash soup and knödel are highly recommended. Service could be a bit slow at times, due to the restaurant being very busy, it is definitely a good idea to reserve a table in advance.

Just look somewhere else. Food is just okay. Nothing especial. Everything is butter flavoured. We were very precise ordering tap water (Leitungs Wasser). The waiter brought us an (oppened) bottel of water. In the bill they charge us 6€ for that.

Lovely restaurant in a fantastic town. We came mid afternoon so the selection was a bit limited. For the full menu come after 6:30. We had pikante gulasche suppe and an inslat mixta. Both were excellent.

Got the traditional dumpling/pasta dish, it was really good and tasty! Looks like it's too small, but the filling helps and it was enough! Staff was also quite friendly and explained where the dish is from. Apparently the restaurant is family owned, and they make the food for the city festival :) Close to the restaurant there is a bunch of small gift stores and there is a great view of the mountains nearby!

Service in restaurant bad. Waiter laughs at customers because he thinks that what they want to eat is not a right combination. Meat is rough and very salty. I had to wait for 1 hour before my meal came and the waiters gave the wrong orders to people. Overall the restaurant is very bad. No comment about the hotel itself.
Richard Beck — Google review
We had ice cream, which was good, however the service was quite rude. When we asked to pay, the waiter brought the bill, when we wanted to pay with debit card and the waiter was clearly annoyed with that question. He aggressively grabbed the bill from our table and murmured something. Followed him inside the restaurant to pay with card, he kept shouting things to himself and collegues while angrily slamming the cash register. If you have a restaurant in the middle of a very touristic area, be prepared for customers who want to pay with debit/credit card, or don't offer the option at all if you don't want it.

Handdoeken werden echter normaliter slechts één maal per week ververst. (Translated by Google) Contrary to what the reviews here indicate, our experience with the owners/staff is not that good. A small anthology: Towels: Our room had two large and two small towels. After a few days we needed fresh ones, so we started asking for them. However, towels were normally only changed once a week. After some insistence we were able to get fresh towels. This was very useful, because we should have also used these towels in the sauna, because they were not changed daily in the sauna. Then the sauna, the sauna had to be reserved every day after which the owner would turn it on. Since we want to use the sauna every day after skiing, we had to make a reservation every day, much to the annoyance of the owners. One evening, two people from our group had turned off the sauna (which meant the sauna had been turned off and on) and the owners only found out about this the next morning. This was communicated to us in a very reproachful and very unpleasant manner. (nowhere was it indicated that it was the guests' responsibility to turn off the sauna, after all, the sauna was also turned on by the owner and our expectation was that the owner would take a tour of the building to end the day, not the guest.) A day later I went to reserve the sauna again, the owner indicated that it was very hot outside and it was not necessary to use the sauna. I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. I then said 'sauna, half past six!' said, I turned around and walked away, after the second day I felt very burdened every day to be able to use a facility, which was our primary reason for choosing gasthof... To get from the Gasthof to the bus stop, you have to descend a small hill on the Gasthof grounds. Frozen snow makes this trip in ski boots very dangerous. Our expectation that salt would be spread from the Gasthof turned out to be wrong. Our stay was from December 27 to January 3, during New Year's Eve there was a party in the restaurant. Party was for friends/family of the owners. Corona rules were not an issue (pubs/restaurants had to close at 10 p.m. that week). The music from the owners' party was also so loud that we couldn't sleep after twelve. I then went to say something about it at half past three, where the owner told me that I should drink more beer and not complain, after all, it was New Year's Eve. The atmosphere was grim, guests and owners were all completely drunk and very upset by my request.

Eten lekker maar redelijk prijsig in vergelijking met andere plekjes. Voor mayo of ketchup moet je bijbetalen en dat is eigenlijk toch wat uitzonderlijk in Oostenrijk. (Translated by Google) Food tasty but quite pricey compared to other places. You have to pay extra for mayo or ketchup and that is actually somewhat unusual in Austria.

Sporthotel Heiligenblut is a cozy mountain retreat with an indoor pool and a sports hall. It offers complimentary breakfast and dinner, creating a delightful culinary experience. The hotel's warm and welcoming staff ensure that guests feel at home, while the well-maintained premises exude cleanliness. The standout feature is the delectable cuisine, which consistently impresses visitors with its exceptional quality.
I am German/American, new skiier who spent four nights with wife and two younger kids. The hotel is older but clean. The offered breakfast and dinners are good but not gourmet. Everyday offered something different. Be sure to arrive in the first hour or two as some of it gets stale. We had an assigned table for the duration. That was very nice. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The pool is quite small; we didn't see anyone in it. The childcare amounts to a room with some games and an adult. Our kids tried it one evening and while they weren't bored they didn't care to return. Bus to the lifts is convenient. You could also walk in 10mim if you have normal shoes. They have two washers and one dryer. 4€ for a load of wash and all the drying you need. Ski storage is nice. I'm told by the lady at the rental place in town that theft is not really an issue though increasing in the really busy times. I saw one other guest lock her skis in the storage area but otherwise no one seemed to worry. The ski school is right next to the hotel and goes 10-3:30. You can extend that by transferring the little ones in town. 9:30-4. As someone who grew up mostly in California, I liked the non-pretentious air of the skiing in general. I hate the crowds of Tahoe, Mt hood, and Boulder,co. This area feels more normal, family. The majority spoke something other than the English or German that I speak. Maybe I just didn't understand the snootyness but I don't think that's it. (Did I mention I hate American skiing?:-)) The food in the restaurants on the mountain was good and priced normal. Not cafeteria. The ice skating nearby is a nice outdoors one. Free and you just show up. Bring a stick if you want to practice your puck skills. The local Hallenbad is just ok with a not hot enough hot tub. WiFi at the hotel and on the mountain are usually pretty good and free. My references are German wifi (basically non-existent) and West coast American. Netflix is not a problem, especially if you download shires before watching. At the end of the visit my wife and I asked ourselves "how could a fancier place be better". We didn't really come up with anything. It had everything that's important to us.

This place is very nice. The staff makes you feel welcome and is very friendly. The hotel is extremely clean and cared for. Most amazing though was the food. We have never had so many delicious dinner in a row. Really impressive! I gave 4 stars instead of 5, because I think bathrobes should be complementary for such a long stay and the wellness area should be open earlier and longer as well and not only during times where people come back from skiing.
