Gouffre de Proumeyssac, also known as the Devils Hole, is a breathtaking cave system with massive stalactites and a cathedral-like chamber. Once feared as a gateway to Hell, it now offers visitors stunning caverns, tunnels, and captivating music and light shows. The surrounding area boasts troglodyte cave dwellings and picturesque scenery along the Dordogne river.
Wonderful experience, the stalagmites are lit by spotlights and there are incredible structures throughout the cave. Well worth the visit, the audio phones provide a good guide for those who don't speak French. Visit around 45 minutes. Perfect for both rainy days and those wanting to escape the hot sunshine! Highly recommended.

Very interesting and great for all the family. The English audio was brilliant and very informative.
Ed Casson — Google review
We visited this cave on a very hot day (35C) and the underground coolness was most welcome. Remember to pick up a free audio set before you set off: otherwise you will miss out on all the fascinating details. It's worth booking in advance because it was filling up quickly when we got there. The light show does a great job of highlighting the rock formations in turn.
James Marshall — Google review
Great experience, the guided tour takes the visitors through different levels of the cave and once behind the stalagmites through a narrow corridor where one needs to duck. The pools at the bottom of the cave have crystal clear water and the chamber in it's own is very impressive. The bulb like chamber is about 150ft high with the narrow opening at the top which would be about 15ft in diameter. There is an animation where they explain the formation of the cave millions of years ago. There is water dripping still from some amazing formations down the middle of the chamber. Totally worth a visit and highly recommended. Pictures weren't allowed.

45 minute guided tour in French with headsets available in other languages. Don't go if you have mobility issues , lots of steps and one bit is going to be difficult with sticks or a wheelchair.
Steven Jones — Google review
Incredible place! Too bad pictures are not allowed inside...
Julien Boutoille — Google review
This experience really dazzled the whole family. We descended in the nacelle, an open cage on a single cable (less scary than it sounds) and enjoyed the lights and sounds of a show for several minutes. As it's rainy season, each major formation looked a bit like a waterfall, and rain fell all around the edges, very sparkly. Just absolutely extraordinary sights.

Breathtaking views, well-preserved art of nature

These caves are impressive so why have I only given it 3*? When booking the trip I didnt notice that if you weren't French or didnt understand French then you would need an audio guide. We were in a rush so didnt take any money with us to pay the extra for the audio so we just had to stand and listen to the French commentary (I know we are in France!) You are given a leaflet but as its dark down there you cant read anything! I did speak to an English couple who had purchased the headset and they said it only gave short and very limited information - much less than the guide was apparently giving. After standing around and looking for 5 mins you have seen everything so the rest of the tour 35 mins you are just standing around looking at the same thing and not understanding anything about what you are viewing. I had to come back and read up on them to understand what I had seen. My fault but I wish it had been made clearer on the web site. Maybe have a prompt when you pay to ask "do you want to purchase the audio guide?" There is a small tardis type thing that you can descend into the caves using but to be honest I wouldn't bother. I dont think you would see any more this way than walking down. It isn't cold so I dont think you need a jacket/jumper. There is one stretch that is a little low and tight but easily accessible. There is more to do and see around the site but mainly designed with children in mind.
Carolyn Dexter — Google review
Simply unbelievable. Go in May/June... get the last tour and enjoy the space / experience without anyone else around:) That allows you to immerse yourself much like the designers of the show intended ☺️🤓
joe higham — Google review
Beautiful destination. Our children 10 and 12 were fascinated.
Emily Mason — Google review
The cave is beautiful but the English audio system was not working and that limited the experience
Tim Blank — Google review
I wasn't blown away by the experience. It's interesting but smaller and less impressive than I was expecting, with clear emphasis, even within the cave, on the gift shop (where the available photos weren't great, making the ban on photography in the cave even more disappointing).
Slim Jim — Google review
Very nice introduction video with translation in Dutch. The tour itself was nice and my son (5 years old) enjoyed it immensely. Downside is it's kind of short (45 min tops) and not very cheap.
Daniel Swartz — Google review
All explanations in French incl. Initial video with no translation. Audio guide was available, but still seemed like way less explanations then for French visitirs. Nice cave, but rather short (just one chamber). Have been in many caves, but never heard of no photos allowed. Quite expensive for what it is.

In the charming town of Le Bugue in the Perigord Noir region, Aquarium Périgord Noir offers a delightful family-friendly experience. This popular attraction features a diverse range of aquatic creatures and includes an alligator park and exhibit. Visitors can immerse themselves in an underwater world while observing well-cared-for fish and reptiles in spacious tanks.
Went on the big bird paracourse and played jungle golf. Friendly helpful staff with plenty of staff speaking English. Well worth a visit with plenty of things for the family to do. Jungle golf is very open to the sun so look for the shady parts
Neil Hill — Google review
Nice for max 2 hours but relatively high entrance fee. We were there after season and catering was closed. Really was looking for coffee and crepes😀
M. de Meer — Google review
There’s a selection of ticket choices for a variety of activities in the same location. We skipped the rest of the activities as it was €132 for a family of 4 for the Aquarium, Maze and big climbing frame. We paid half this for just the aquarium. Not a bad exhibit overall, but in my view expensive for what you get, and the time it takes to get around - maybe 2 hours if you really go slow. However, if it’s a rainy day and you’re in the area then it’s probably worth a visit - especially if you’re a fan of alligators…..
Neil Johnstone — Google review
It was ok. The receptionist didn't give us options of tickets, we learned later we could have done the aquarium and either the crazy golf or the prehistoric park or all three. That was disappointing. The aquarium itself was ok except where the crocodiles are kept.. a very small concrete area with a little water. It was sad to see. Pictures online show a fishy tunnel but that wasn't there. The creperie was open but we wanted burgers so had to finish the aquarium to reach the hut. When we did, it was closed. The receptionist should have told us that too. We did have pizza there tho which was very nice and very hot. Very nice lady served us.
Lane — Google review
Great aquarium, all the tanks were well sized and the various fish and reptiles were clearly well looked after. The demonstrations were a fantastic touch as well. We got to watch the beavers and turtles snack on carrots, pet an alligator, feed some fish by hand and hold a boa constrictor - all for free!
Jack Kibbey Newman — Google review
Quite an expensive day out (€70+for 4 adults and a 1 year old) but nice to have the place almost to ourselves. Some refurbishment is needed before the summer season. It cost the same amount again to eat on the premises.
Ashley Frost — Google review
Disappointing. Confusing signs to direct your visit. Dirty water tank screens. Dirty water in the tanks. . Annoying piped music. People were getting lost due to poor signage. Only the overpriced giftshop was clean and organized. Very expensive. Two adults and two children (9 and 3) came to €55 for just over an hour visit.
Graham P — Google review
We had such a fun day. Aquarium, big bird, mini golf and maze. Good value for money and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We found the maze a little confusing because of the language barrier but still enjoyed it. Definitely go back again.
Julie Tomkins — Google review
This place was fantastic, if an animal lover then this is a great day out. Plenty to do for kids and adults alike. Jungle golf and don’t forget “BIG Bird” Europe’s largest thrill seeking, nerve wracking climb only attached by harness and pole lol. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Great places to eat and sit down and stroking the coi carps made my day 😃
All Things Clarice — Google review
Lovely aquarium - our child loved to touch the fish at the end and to stroke a baby crocodile
Dan Greenwood — Google review
Nice aquarium, loved seeing all the different fish and alligators, and reptiles, entrance price is rather high for the amount of time spent here.
Gemimia Louisana (Monkeymadness) — Google review

Very friendly and great place to visit. All staff members are very welcoming and always so bonjour. A must visit is the BBQ chicken hut as the food is good value and taste great. We had a lovely member of staff called Corrine. Who went above and beyond to make sure we received great service. We will definitely come back soon.
duncan squires — Google review
We came here as a family of 4 and we did a session of climbing, the aquarium, mini golf and had a go at the labyrinth. The mini golf had a great variety of course with many moving animals, tunnels, water and generally all the stuff kids love. Labyrinth had a variety of animal and humans and mini factoids about them. We then went in the mirror maze which the kids found very fun.
Jack Osborne — Google review
Could have been bigger for the money they charge. But kids loved it and the staff were very nice.
Simeon Velikov — Google review
We had a fantastic day! We went to the Big Bird and the Prehistoric Maze and had great fun in both! The lunch (Chicken BBQ and Burger Sofa) was also great! All of the queues were short and I really appreciate the cool mist that was sprayed around all the areas that people were queueing, it was a nice touch on a very hot day

Located on the northwest edge of Le Bugue, Grotte de Bara-Bahau is a fascinating cave featuring engravings created by prehistoric humans. The site offers guided tours in both French and English, providing insightful information about the cave's geological formations and prehistoric art. Visitors can marvel at ancient engravings and bear scratchings while learning about how early humans utilized the cave.
Very un commercialised site, we were the only visitors and had a personal tour, the guide spoke English well enough to convey the geology, prehistoric use and engravings in the cave, large open cave 125m long by 25m wide ok if you're claustrophobic
KodaChrome73 Mr — Google review
Interesting cave with ancient carvings of animals. Our guide was enthusiastic, but could have moved things along a bit faster. We were the last round of the day and started 15 minutes after the appointed time. She was really nice.
Bruce Ishikawa — Google review
We hadn’t heard of this cave before but thought we’d give it a go after seeing signs while in the area. I’m so glad we did as the tour was very good. It was done in French and English, which was helpful, and the information was really interesting. I’ve not seen cave bear scratchings before and it felt really special to be treading in the same area that these animals once were. It was wonderful to see the engravings too and to learn about how prehistoric humans used the claw marks to make their art. (It’s also a great value attraction!)
Roberta Doggett — Google review
The Grotte de Bara-Bahau is one of the best caves in the Dordogne area for it's price in my opinion. We took a tour with a guide (I'm not sure there is any other option) and he was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable. There are some interesting structures as well as some very interesting engravings made by ancient man.
David Mann — Google review
Another amazing cave. It's hard to tell me how good the tour was because it was in French and I don't understand enough words to get context.
Larry Blount — Google review
One of the smaller privately owed prehistoric caves. Discovered in 1951, work was undertaken to make to cave accessible to a larger public. In the process the original blockages were removed, severely altering the geography. Luckily ‘the original entrees’ were more or less preserved. The engravings are actually quite interesting and worth the visit. Some 18 carvings are engraved on three panels including three impressive abstract symbols, a hand, six horses, two bison, an aurochs, reindeer, bear and two incomplete drawings. If you have visited other caves this is a very interesting addition and you will experience the limitations of line-drawings or photographs you might have seen. The shape of the rock surface and changing expositions with light make you emerge in the experience.
joost — Google review
Cave filled with ancient engravings. Not the biggest or showiest, but with dedicated guides and a fascinating personal tour. Our family of 4 got a personal guide and she was so informative. Superb.
Ronan McDonnell — Google review
Good cave. Very decent tour from Sophie who showed us the cave and its history. Lots to understand and definitely a quieter affair than some of the places to see in the area. Merci!

During a recent visit to Crêperie L'Abreuvoir in Canada, a group of 11 individuals arrived without a reservation and were promptly accommodated. The service provided was exceptional, with friendly and courteous staff members. The quality of the food surpassed expectations, offering delicious cuisine at reasonable prices. This dining experience proved to be one of the most enjoyable during their ten-day stay in the area.
Brilliant crêperie!!! Food is delicious, and it's very reasonably priced. Great choice. Most importantly- It provides gluten-free options (galettes), and staff is super friendly and accommodating. Travelling with a 6 year old coeliac girl in France can be challenging when it comes to food venues... we were fully satisfied with Crêperie L'Abreuvoir, our girl's dietary requirements were understood and looked after with care. It's a vibrant spot, with AC indoor rooms and a lovely terrace area. It is a very popular restaurant, so reservations are advisable in high season. Customer toilets are clean and a changing table is available. High chairs are also provided. I highly recommend it.

Good food and a nice location alongside the river. You can sit outside, however it will get cold pretty quickly. Also, the people working there are very friendly.
Fleur Gorsse — Google review
Wonderful place with spectacular view of the river Vézère. Perfectly shaded terrace comfortably houses many tables but you don’t feel crowded despite the fact that the restaurant was packed. We chose lunch special - salad with duck bits - exquisite! The other meal - porc with caramel sauce and sautéed veggies and fries- was another great choice. Very happy to have stumbled upon this place. In total: great food, good service and very friendly owner lady making sure her guests are happy. But you have to know to show up in time. Lunch in France is strictly served between 12:00 and 2pm. Knowing this we did not delay in choosing the restaurant and were rewarded nicely.

We had a lovely lunch here. It was a bit too cold to eat outside but they have a wonderful terrace overlooking the river. Food was excellent, the caramel pork a particular highlight. Prices were reasonable. Service was very friendly and quick.

Although we were the only guest (probably to early: we arrived at 18:30) we were welcome to eat here. The waitress was very friendly and recommended the daily dish. This boeuf 5 epices was very nice and more than enough for us. We also had the recommended desert, not large but very nice with different flavors. We.found the price just above 40 euros for two persons a very good deal.

Very good, the suggestions du jour were both excellent, the salade had more meats than lettuce, and the spicy beef was a very good mix. All of that next to the river!!!

We have had a nice evening here. Service at table was prompt and friendly. New waitress. Was looking for the right way of working and got feedback from colleague. But did not matter. Everybody has to learn. Food was well prepared. A nice menucard with both French cuisine and Asian dishes. The price ratio was fine. Dessert was absolutely delicious. Strawberry mousse airy and deliciously tasty! Thanks for the lovely evening.

Had dinner there last week, should have been 5 stars but the frites were inedible. Over 50% were cremated, black charcoal and the rest were mostly well over cooked, hard and crispy. When we complained to the waitress she said this was "normal" ( I wouldn't give them to my dog if I had one!). This was really a shame because the veal escalope and salad were excellent. I think the frites were left over from lunch time and should have been binned.

Phoned this place for a table for 5, for the last night of our holiday. Reservation confirmed. Turned up at designated time and told no reservation in our name. Thoroughly bad customer service. Would never use this place due to how we were treated. Luckily we found somewhere to eat, and had a superb meal. Their loss, as we spent near 200 euros. Bottom line: ultra competitive pricing for average quality (good value) Spartan indoor, but lovely terrace. If you want to enjoy a view on the Vezere, calling them to book a table is mandatory.
