Wine store
Enoteca Sgonico, located in Sgonico (TS), offers a reservation-based gastronomy service and direct sales of Carso wines. Situated amidst the beautiful Carso region, known for its white limestone and small oak and black pine trees, this vintage establishment is surrounded by authentic old houses and a charming stone-built church. The cellar boasts an impressive selection of premium white wines from the area.
Best food ever. Love Mitja
Mark Gruden — Google review
Often bad reviews are written in a paroxysm of rage. This one is only partly so. The Enoteca Sgonico has serious flaws that should be addressed. The food is ok: apart from the rubbery squid and the almost inedible shrimps (mazzancolle) with pata negra that seemed coated in industrial cheese, the rest was passable. However, I cannot agree that the fish were fresh, if one considers as "fresh" only local and seasonal product. Red shrimps from Cyprus, tuna from Adriatic (yeah... perhaps in the 1970s), blue shrimps from New Caledonia (with strawberries, that I politely declined) etc. And boletus... in December. The price is not ok: 190€ for two people for essentially two mixed platters of starters each, one bottle of semi-decent wine, two glasses of sparkling wine, two coffees with a small tray of mignons. Having eaten no fresh catch whatsoever, the price was at least 50€ off. What really angers is instead the owner's attitude: arrogant and condescending. No menu, no prices: "I won't tell you what's coming. It's a surprise, everybody loves it." No, at the fourth round of (previously industrially frozen) raw shrimps, I didn't love it at all.
Igor Guardiancich — Google review
Raw fish menu is excellent but price is too high for what’s served and not known in advance..quite deceiving for a 130€ per person menu without wine.

A beatiful vintage place in the midle of Carso - the large green area above trieste laid on white limestones an constelled of small oaks a black pine trees, often whipped by the wind. All around a little group of authentic old houses an one stone-built tiny church An impressive and delicious selections of seafood apetizers is the best you can try Cellar is plenty of the best (and expensive) whie wines of this zone of italy Everyone must try this place !

We slept at the camperspot for a few nights and we felt at home. We bought our food there everyday, drank the tasty (and cheap) wine and tasted their delicious selfmade cheese. Veronica, the host, and her family were superfriendly. We loved it here!!

(Translated by Google) Good food but not excellent, staff not very kind and not at all educated on how the different dishes are seasoned (and even once we asked for information, the contents of the dish were not reported correctly). For the rest it is a simple and a little spartan place, the bathrooms cold and without toilet paper or hand paper ... We would have been unlucky. The outside of the place is pleasant with some games for children (3 slides and two swings) and the possibility of walking around seeing some animals. I expected more.

What a great place! We used their newly created camper parking and service. You can dispose everything, get fresh water and electricity ist included. The people are lovely, helped us enormously when asked what we could do best on a hot day. The cheese ist great and a clear recommendation to purchase in the farm own shop.

I had a lovely dinner, mixed cheese and salumi as appetiser, pork stake with mushroom sauce, buttered spinach and "patate in tecia" as main dish and a delicious prune "strudel". Service was friendly and professional. The lady chef was nice and cooks really well. I will return.

Local community hub aiming at quality and quantity for both wines and food. Chilled atmosphere with local customers and busier at weekends and in summer. Check opening times before going as it can change between seasons.

The bread gnocchi with the goulash was amazing! The dessert carsolina is sweet and light and so worth it! The hostess is fiery but in a good way! A def must stop for those that want good food and a place that is welcoming!

Farmstay
Restaurant
Agriturismo Ostrouska, located just 20 minutes from Trieste in the countryside, offers a delightful and pleasant stay. Sharon, the host, along with her mother, are incredibly kind and welcoming. The rooms are impeccably clean and beautifully designed. The farmstay serves a delicious homemade breakfast that is highly recommended. While the restaurant has limited opening days, guests can enjoy dining on the neighboring farm.
Really nice spot, best breakfast in Italy. Unfortunately, the restaurant is only open a few days a week but we were lucky that we could eat on the farm next doors! Would for sure stay here again.

Not big menu but all home made food, wines, breads from their own products & animals. Specials: ricotta & horse radish form of ricotta, curred meats, terrano wine. Nice typical Trieste karst house

(Translated by Google) A working farm (wine growing) and they have animals here such as pigs (you can smell that), donkeys, chickens, rabbits. From here you can see the sea. The beautiful rooms are neat and modern and equipped with a mini fridge with soft drinks, beer and their own wine. There is a kettle for tea (no coffee). There isn't really a place to sit. Outside there are 2 sunbeds and a hanging chair and there is a small table with 1 wooden chair right next to the entrance. There are chairs and tables on the terrace near the restaurant, but without the comfort of a cushion. Unfortunately, the restaurant is only open on Saturdays and Sundays (we were here from Tuesday to Thursday). I had not counted on this, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby. You have breakfast in the restaurant and it is really Italian with lots of sweets, but there is ham and cheese.

Possibly the best “agriturismo” on the Italian “Carso” Kras! Sharon and her family will take you to a culinary experience which will allow you to understand the heritage and culture of our land! Everything is homemade and produced directly by them, on top of it, the best “Vitovska” you can ask for! For those of you who don’t know, Vitovska is THE white wine of the Carso-Kras; for those of you who are more red-wine oriented, you must try their strong and powerful Terrano-Teran! The location is gorgeous, the food can’t be describe by words and the owners are the sweetest human being you can find! Stop by for a glass of wine or an entire culinary journey..too tired to drive back home? No worries, just spend the night in one of their beautiful brand new rooms…Sharon will serve you a breakfast you won’t forget! I have been coming here for over 20years and it’s still one of my favorite place in the World!

On this particular Saturday, Trattoria Gostilna Gustin was bustling with a large crowd of locals who conversed in both Slovenian and Italian. The cuisine offered at the restaurant appeared enticing, with delectable-looking cakes that were simply marvelous. Moreover, the coffee served there was considered to be of high quality, while the waitresses were not only young but also exceptionally attractive and efficient.
The food is just amazing, the staff is the cutest. Cozy and relaxing place!
