Restaurant
Bistro 53 in Maynooth offers a wide variety of dishes, including Al Forno and Platos principales. Their menu consists of popular options such as Antipasti - Entrantes and SIDES. With a total of 90 dishes and beverages available, customers have plenty to choose from. Some recommended dishes are the fried lamb liver for starter and pork belly for main. The cuisine is mainly Italian, with standout items like the incredible risotto and delicious lobster pasta.
It was my first time in this restaurant. I really like food and service. I ordered a Melanzane starter, the main course was steak and for a dessert, I had tiramisu. Everything exceeded my expectations. I left my car in the nearby shopping centre for free.

Nice place, a little on the more expensive side but tasty enough food. They also do a set menu for €26. Set in a central location on main street in Maynooth with a host of pubs nearby.
David McLoughlin — Google review
The restaurant is Ok, it's nothing special. Food was good, but i would say it was not the best steak I had. At least for me the price does not fit to the performance. It was good but nothing special. The menu is small and next to wine the selection of drinks Is to less.

If you are looking for great food in a nice atmosphere then Bistro 53 is the place to go in Maynooth. Every time I visit the food is perfect. The range of choices allows me to have something different so the experience never gets stale. I had a fillet steak last night and it was extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. The vegetables are always cooked just right and the baby beetroot is gorgeous. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It just never disappoints

The food was great! We ordered many dishes because there was 10 of us but my goat Sheree salad was over sauced so that is why it’s a 4 instead of a 5 star. Otherwise everything was great!!

We had a perfect lunch today! The food it's exactly on my taste 😋 And dessert was sooo delicious 😋 😍 Definitely we will go again! 😉

Amazing dinner, super fresh. We went at late but the staffs were still super nice and accomondated to us. Can't rate the food higher, authentic Italian right at center of Maynooth.

Very nice restaurant where the atmosphere blends with delicate dishes. Presentation is the main driver here, some plate were not as tasty as its Presentation however not bad. Quality price with the lunch menu is fair enough. Recommended

Excellent customer service. Very fast and kind. Nice meals with usual prices. The only bad is the Coke in a small glass full of ice on two minutes with no gas. - Second experience wasn't so good. Soup extremely spicy, imposible to eat. Meal nothing special. Service not so good like the first time

I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! The food was exceptional, especially the delicious lobster pasta. What truly made my visit memorable was the outstanding service, thanks to Ramona. Her attentive and friendly approach elevated the overall experience. I'll definitely be returning for more delightful meals!

Top notch restaurant and we are just overly impressed with the food, they have a great selection on the menu, one of my all time recommendations being the stake. We come here quite often and we can truly say that everything is ten out of ten. Excellent customer service, great atmosphere, and by far the best food in the area. We highly recommend trying out this place to everyone. Keep up the good work bistro team and we’ll definitely be back soon.

We ate at this restaurant as our final dinner in Ireland, and what a delicious meal it was. My wife had the prawns with Mendoncini pasta in a pesto sauce and I had grilled sea bass with mashed potatoes, spiced tomatoes, zucchini, and red pepper. For dessert, we split a homemade ice cream with almonds, which was a fantastic end to the meal. Everything was outstanding and we would highly recommend Bistro 53 for your next meal.

The Mediterranean in Maynooth. I’ve just eaten in this superb restaurant. I walked in out of a cold lashing sleet storm, and was immediately transported to a high class Mediterranean Restaurant. Sublime food, great service, and a perfect ambiance. I’ll let my pictures speak for themselves.

Spanish restaurant
On 15/08/2023, a customer expressed dissatisfaction with their dining experience at Picaderos, a Spanish and Mexican tapas restaurant in Maynooth. They mentioned that the starter was satisfactory but found the main course, specifically the steak, excessively salty. They also criticized the garnish as being minimal and felt that besides the steak, there wasn't much else on their plate apart from overcooked chips.
I’ve wanted to visit Picaderos for a while now and finally got the chance on Wednesday as I was on a training course in Naas. I was definitely not disappointed the food and service was extremely good. We ordered off the early bird menu which had a great selection to choose from and was great value. Mussels prawns and manchego cheese croquettes for starters, paella’s and sea bass for mains followed by churros for all of us. Every dish was delicious and great portions. Will definitely be back soon to try more of your amazing food. Great job to all at Picaderos.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. First time here, and it has shot into my top 5 favourite restaurants! Unbelievable menu. You could dine here so many times and still be trying news things. Tomahawk steak was fantastic. My wife said the pulled pork was the best she's ever had. Staff were very friendly and very attentive. Can't wait to return.
Justin Doody — Google review
Absolutely fantastic place. The food is to die for. Amazing flavours and quality ingredients. Already looking forward to returning and trying other tapas dishes. Menu selection is great. My friends highly recommend the cocktails as well – although they were a bit pricey (€13).

Awesome Spanish food. The paella was huge and really tasty. They have alcohol free beer. Staff was professional and friendly. A really nice atmosphere eating outside.
Andrea Avesani — Google review
Authentic spanish and mexican tapas place with wide variety of options, you can have the tapas portion or main portion. One of my favourite tapas places in Ireland, and in the middle of a nice walk in Maynooth main street. The only problem was that the door was shutting with loud noise and no action was taken by staff, and some items were late to be served. Manager is very friendly and explained the situation, especially that other tables nearby faced the same issue. I would still recommend the place!
Ghassan Zein — Google review
Picaderos is a quaint restaurant situation main street in Maynooth, conveniently situated in walking distance from the train station and on the bus route. We ordered the meat platter, muscles, and patella, which was finished at your table and was extremely tasty good-size portions. Staff are always friendly and they add to the good atmosphere experienced in the restaurant. Drinks are well priced, and they have a large range to choose from. Highly recommend Picaderos when in Maynooth.

I loved this restaurant so much! It’s my favourite restaurant in Maynooth. I love the food and the service is amazing and the staff are really friendly! I’ve been there for many special occasions and I just love it. 😁

I found picaderos 4 months ago. For a Spanish girl, picaderos has been one of my 2023 discoveries and I will not stop going everrr. Is a bit expensive but not as expensive as other tapas places I've been or heard about around Dublin/Kildare. The manchego cheese croquetas with the honey sauce are a work of art, same as the fried calamari, I ALWAYS other them both, and It never disappoints.

A nice and cozy restaurant, I really liked the atmosphere and the music, the service was good and the food was great. I listened to various music from my country Venezuela and I felt enchanted.

Have to say the hype of this place fell short for me. The service was very slow, the waitress had very poor English and I had to repeat my order numerous times, when the venue wasn’t overly busy. Waited nearly 15mins for a Coke and a beer that arrived flat . I got a dirty look when I asked to change it for another beer. overall experience 1 star

Avenue Cafe, Restaurant & Bar offers a modern twist on traditional Irish cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. The dining space is adorned with tall shelves showcasing an extensive wine collection. The food is wonderfully prepared, using fresh ingredients and presented creatively. The braised lamb shank is tender and flavorful, while the salmon fish cake appetizer is deliciously moist. The skilled bartender crafts a delightful hazelnut Alexander drink for an enjoyable after-dinner experience.
10/10!! Best spot for a Sunday Lunch and not only! Food is absolutely gorgeous, outstanding service and amazing cocktails❤️ Worth travelling from Lucan just to have some quality food👌🏼 Our favourite place 🤗

Lovely food and the staff were very pleasant. Slightly on the expensive side (10 euro for a large glass of white wine). Will be back regardless.

Got there just as they were closing but they still let us in. Had coffee and quiche and really enjoyed it. Sat outside at the back. Will definitely go back again.

Group of 12 went here 2 days ago, for lunch after a Christening. The place is beautiful when you walk in. Lovely outdoor area too. Staff were lovely, food was delicious. Was quiet enough, but picked as mid-afternoon came round. The food really is incredible. I had the soup for starters, burger for main, and the chocolate brownie for dessert. The whole table just had empty plates. Just go here, you won't regret it!

Great food and amazing service. It is certainly worth a visit. Be prepared because the portions are very well sized. We ordered salmon and smoked fish and chips. Everything was delicious!

Had a lovely dinner for my birthday last night and then was surprised with a dessert , Thanks so much ! Service was great 😊

Excellent skilfully prepared contemporary Irish cuisine with fresh ingredients and creative presentation. The braised lamb shank was perfectly tender, juicy, and mouthwatering. The appetizer of salmon fish cake was flavourful and nicely done - not too dry. The bartender also made an excellent hazelnut Alexander drink - which is perfect as an after dinner drink. Great ambience inside the dining room or al fresco on a nice day. Highly recommended and worth a trip into Maynooth.

Very tasty food & lively atmosphere! Been here twice now, both times on a Saturday night. The first visit I ordered the crispy onion burger and of course their signature chicken wings. Second time around it was a larger group of 8 and we ordered the wings, deep fried brie, and calamari to start, followed by the chicken burger, the peppercorn burger, the feather blade, and the fillet steak. Portions were very generous and all dishes were delicious. Unfortunately there was no room left for dessert 😅. Overall a great spot, especially for accommodating a large group!

Visited for a family birthday meal. The menu had a nice variety of different foods to choose from. Food was delicious. Drink menu is also very nice. Restaurant itself has a nice cozy feeling to it although the front part of the restaurant is very small you nearly feel on top of the next table dining to you. If possible I would ask for a table in the back or upstairs !
Lauren Browne — Google review
Cannot praise the staff enough and the food!! 5 out of 6 of us had the Featherblade and 5 of us raved about it. So lucky to have such a high quality restaurant nearby. 5 star for everything...food, drink selection, staff, cleanliness, ambience...really impressive

Lovely lunch options Food was delicious Service gr8 Unfortunately, the front section isn't warm with the cold breeze coming in every time the door is open A little blow heater isn't sufficient in a business premises ! At at least 4/5 tables people had their coats on . Maybe it's time to invest in Over Door Heater? For the comfort of customers

I have been to the avenue many times and it never fails to disappoint. The food is always wonderful and the menu is very broad. The prices are very reasonable, especially the early bird. The staff and service is always fantastic, and the staff go over and beyond. Highly recommend this restaurant, and will be back again!
Michelle O'R — Google review
Avenue is fantastic. My colleague was saying it was a very good place. Unfortunately we weren't able to do dinner there the night before but we're able to get lunch. I ordered the Lamb Shank and oh man was it fantastic. Literally fell off the bone with the littlest poke from my fork. Service was good, they soup was also fantastic. All in all just great. Would definitely recommend and I feel it is worth every euro.

Breakfast restaurant
Coffee Mill Bistro is a popular establishment known for its delightful cuisine and excellent coffee. Visitors are drawn to the restaurant's inviting atmosphere, which strikes a perfect balance between bustling and claustrophobic. The outdoor area, particularly in summer, adds to the overall charm. Customers consistently praise the friendly and efficient staff who provide warm and pleasant service. The food itself is described as not only visually appealing but also exceptionally tasty, reminiscent of home-cooked meals or possibly even better.
The food, the staff, the ambience deserve appreciation. The staff are very friendly and food is amazing. Lemon Ice tea is a must try!

Very rude Host/Manager (older man with white hair). He spoke to us in the absolute rudest manner. We were a large group who he said he could seat (we checked before entering the cafe as there were 7 of us), told us to pay for our breakfast and he’d have the table ready for us. He went as far as pointing out the table he’d give us, two tables that he would move together. We came back down and he’d given the table away to people he knew & tried to seat us at separate tables about two meters apart. After a few moments we asked another waiter if we could sit at another table that just freed up, so we could all sit together & they cleared it and got it ready. While we were sat there the host came up to us and gave out to us for taking the table, saying that we’d no right to take the table (even though we’d asked a waiter) and spoke to us in the rudest manner I’ve ever experienced. He literally said “I’ll remember this next time you come in” which was simply bizarre because we asked could we sit at the table. Insane way to treat customers paying for service. I simply could never recommend this place due to how rude he was, it was a shame because the place itself is lovely and the food as well. He was also being visibly rude to staff members which was awful to witness as they were quite busy and doing a good job. Business of seven people lost, who work locally and would’ve recommend the place to customers if it had’ve been a pleasant experience.
Caoimhe Ní Fhearghail — Google review
I've had many experiences here and keep coming back, the food is lovely and they serve really good coffee too! Staff are also nice, especially given how busy it can be! The atmosphere is lovely, it's always busy but not so busy that it's claustrophobic. The outdoor area is really nice, especially in summer.
Laura O'Reilly — Google review
We were with our family and were very pleasantly surprised. The service is very pleasant and warm. The staff is great. The food is amazing. Not only does it look very nice, but the taste is also unreal. Like home, maybe even better. If you are in Maynooth you must stop here and eat. 5 STARS
Jhonny Cash — Google review
I had an extremely unpleasant experience there and when I came here to complain about it, I found that the same thing had been repeated countless times with different people! The person I believe to be the manager/owner of the place, a large pot-bellied man, was extremely rude and impolite to me, unlike all the waiters who were extremely friendly and polite! I don't know if he behaves like this with all customers or just with foreigners. I certainly won't be coming back, and I think there are several places on the same street that offer much better service to tourists. It's unfortunate how one person who is apparently in charge, who should be setting an example, can ruin the experience of the place.
Larissa Haringer — Google review
It's incredible how a restaurant with such a rude, ill-mannered, sexist and imbecilic owner or manager manages to operate here in Ireland, a place of kind and pleasant people. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone so they don't have to deal with a person as unpleasant as this man. It's unfortunate that there are still people like this serving customers.
Marcio Cataldi — Google review
Good reasonably priced food! Great location in Maynooth. Service was excellent with very nice staff!
PG25 — Google review
Extremely rude, unpleasant and unprofessional manager/host. As a group of 7, we arrived and asked if they had space to seat us as we understand not every place would be able to cater to this. The manager said yes, allocated us a table and then we went to order. After ordering we then see our table had been allocated to someone else. The manager then tries to completely split us up AFTER ordering..so we find another table that can fit our group, which then the manager was openly rude to us and in short blamed us for sitting at another table even though he had given (I guess regulars?) our table away after we had ordered. He then proceeded to be rude to our entire group, and also again, tried to split us up across different tables so we wouldn't be at all seated together. It was quite unbelievable how we were treated when from the start we were okay with going elsewhere if they couldn't seat us. The manager was also not shy of being rude to his staff openly. His staff were so lovely and catered to our needs, providing fantastic service. It's unfortunate that this man ruined an experience as the food was actually relatively nice. We wouldn't return again solely based on this manager.

Italian restaurant
Donatello's Restaurant, an Italian eatery located in Maynooth, County Kildare, offers more than just a place to enjoy great food. This establishment also functions as a wine shop and doubles as a wine bar and cafe. For those seeking a cozy dining experience, there is an intimate dining room upstairs where patrons can indulge in breakfast. With its charming ambiance and delicious cuisine, Donatello's Restaurant is a popular choice among locals and visitors alike in Maynooth.
Recently visited the restaurant for our Anniversary and it was a blast. We were 20 mins late and they were still so helpful with finding us a seat. Their food is top notch and the staff were always there for anything we needed. Highly recommend it for a night out as a couple. It is a bit pricey but I believe it is worth the price.

Popped in for an early bird only to have possibly one of the best steaks I have ever tasted. Superbly seasoned and cooked to perfection with the most flavourful peppercorn sauce ever. A real treat. Ribeye with langoustines! Will most definitely be back!!!
PG25 — Google review
The food here is only good at best, they have quite nice cocktails too. Unfortunately all of this cannot do anything to save this restaurant from the unfriendly, rudeness of the staff. This restaurant used to be fantastic but as of the last year or so their service has declined to the point where myself and my close friends and family members will not be returning. I recommend if you’re reading this to do the same as it is extremely expensive for the terrible and rude service with the food only being okay.

Visited Donatello’s on a miserable Friday evening for evening dinner . Really helped to brighten up a day . Very welcoming, helpful staff. Menu filled with tastes to suit all . Was seated upstairs which was fine, I had read that it was a cocktail bar and I thought this may get loud but there was groups of patrons also enjoyed the dinning experience which was great . I had 3 courses including coffee which was excellent. I will certainly return & recommend to anybody .

Donatellos is quite simply, brilliant. Went there with 4 other friends after a round of golf on a late afternoon one Sunday and from start to finish the experience was beyond reproach. We received a very friendly and warm welcome on arrival. The serving staff were all excellent. The atmosphere in the place gives a very authentic vibe and the food just punctuated that beautifully. The mushroom starters were so moreish. So simple yet so tasty. The Pasta Primavera in the mains was flawless. Light and flavourful. The real surprise was the cocktails. It's not too often you find skilled mixologists in a restaurant. Their Espresso Martini was excellent, not too sweet. Also sampled a Rye Whiskey Sour which was also very good. Finally, we sampled a collection of desserts, including the Profiteroles which were soft and delicious. Will be returning here often!

We went to Donatellos last night for our anniversary and they were amazing to say the least . Food was outstanding as usual and the cocktails were to die for … The staff are amazing and so friendly and courteous , such a credit to the restaurant . They sent up a desert on the house and 2 glasses of Prosecco which we really appreciated … thank you for a lovely evening lisa and Keith ❤️

We went there on Valentine's night. You would expect restaurants to prepare their best food and desserts for special occasions, especially when they know they are fully booked, but the pizza came a bit cold. The chicken dish was good, though. For dessert, we got tiramisu and profiteroles. Both desserts were not bad but not good either; you could say they tasted like they were made a week ago.

In truth, no restaurant should ever get five stars for the food .. just to keep the chef on their toes! However Im adding a star to the food because the service deserves SIX stars. Friendly, upbeat diligent efficient and hardworking and very very smartly presented staff exceeded all expectations. Very busy but the staff remained super cool and unphased and service and foot times were very good indeed. Lovely athmosphere and will definitely return. PS: shame on the table that returned their ice cream desserts and wanted the price removed off the bill. The things waiting staff have to live with !!

Really disappointed tbh, got the vegan Antonio which is olives, vegan sausage and chilli, it had no chilli on it and the olives are straight from a jar with zero flavour, sausage is Linda mccarthy sausages, probably cost them 2 euro to make it and pretty much tasted like it, dough was good. The "sautéed" rosemary & sea salt potatoes were frozen roasties reheated, they were red hot while the pizza was cold and as for my €6 vegan garlic bread.. Well the photo says it all really. They also tried to charge me €29 for it which was ala carte prices but reduced it to €25 after I enquired.. Not worth it.

Beautiful day, loads of people. Suspecting that the waiters were a bit overrun, however they were a bit too.. Attentive. Asking several times during the one meal of everything was okay, if I needed anything else. I also got seated without a menu and was left waiting for a good while before I got to look at the menu. Other than the service, the food was superb. The chicken wings were delicious, the desert absolutely amazing (a cake by Nonna [enter surname]). The pizza was nice, however I ordered it very spicy and it was not spicy at all. After asking for and adding some chili oil it was moderately spicy, a decent moderate heat. Definitely a really tasty pizza, just not delivered to the promised level of spiciness. (While writing this short review, the two different waiters have asked me if I am okay/have ordered already.)
