Restaurant
The Crown Inn, a former coaching house, offers traditional accommodations with complimentary full breakfast. It also features a bar and restaurant where Angie and Chris enjoyed their search for outstanding cuisine in a friendly atmosphere. They had an exceptional meal at The Crown, with Angie being unable to finish her sirloin steak due to its generous portion size. The meat was succulent and the fish Risotto was exquisite. The service provided was excellent as well.
We would just love to say that are stay at the crown was absolutely 5 star the food was spot on and the service and hospitality exceeded 5 star. If we are ever in the area again we know we're we are staying again.many thanks from the smith family xx

Great pub meal and very friendly service. The menu on the website didn't look very exciting but the specials board had all sorts of more unusual dishes which was a nice surprise. We ordered the venison loin which was perfectly cooked and came with an absolute mountain of veg, and the classic burger which was also really generous and tasty. Lovely friendly place for a cosy meal.

Stopped for lunch when passing through Pateley Bridge. Wonderful Yorkshire hospitality, all staff friendly, cheerful and polite. Fish & chips tasty and filling, reasonable price. Thoroughly recommend.
Jane Rolph — Google review
Giving 5 star because the food portions were really good including the desert. The staff were alright too! It’s a nice place to eat the ambience is nice! I would say however the chef forgot to put the king prawns in my friends food! She wasn’t too bothered because the other fish in the meal was nice!

Would not recommend for a number of reasons. Rang ahead a week early, booked a table indoors and mentioned we had a dog, and they said they would reserve a table indoors in the dog friendly area. Of course, when we arrived, our table was in the no dogs allowed area... fair enough, mistakes can be made on the phone, so we sat outside in the courtyard area near all the bins, not exactly the nicest of areas. Anyway, my girlfriend and I ordered the steak and ale pie and fish and chips - 2 classics you'd assume would be good. The fish and chips was completely dripping in oil and not good at all. The steak and ale pie was poor, no flavour at all. The worst part was the customer service, all staff seemed very rude, the landlady (we assumed) when collecting our plates didn't say a word to us. Just all a very disappointing experience, and it's such a shock for lovely village like Pateley Bridge to not have somewhere that can serve good pub grub. If unsure about customer service comments, check recent reviews on Tripadvisor and Google Reviews...a lot of other reviews saying the same thing. Clearly some attitude issues of the landlady and chef. Don't go, try the takeaway pizza across the road instead!

Dropped in for lunch a day ago. Recommended by a local. Warm, friendly greeting. The place is spotless. Delicious lunch, well judged portion. Not too big, just the right quantity. Extremely fairly priced. Will definitely return.

Angie and Chris continued our search for excellent food in convivial surroundings. A superb meal at The Crown. It's the first time I've ever seen Angie unable to finish her sirloin steak...well it was a half of a cow. Even I tried it: melting meat. Delicious! The fish Risotto was superb, too. All excellent, great service. What more do you want? Come here for a delightful experience!

We came here for our dinner whilst on holiday. The service was excellent. There was only one member of staff working in the busy restaurant area when we were there and she was doing a wonderful job under pressure! The food was amazing! Great portions sizes for adults and kids. Would definitely go back again.

Went here twice during our few days stopping locally. Nice local ale, lovely food and a warm welcome from the ladies who were working there. Definitely recommended.

Fabulous Sunday roast with ample roast beef and wonderful cauliflower cheese! The crumble was delicious too!

Had lunch here, as it scored high on Google maps and I would definitely recommend. Nice little pub, which is larger inside than it looks. I like the split bar which creates a public bar and lounge/restaurant seating. Staff were great/really friendly and the food/drink was served quickly. Good selection of beers. Best part, the food! It was great, with good portion size, cooked to perfection and way above normal pub standard. Very tasty. A perfect lunch for a day's walking.

‘Land lady’ is so rude it’s ridiculous. Made our whole family feel really uncomfortable. After leaving we were told by multiple locals that she is very well known for being rude & unfriendly. Visited the Royal Oak afterwards which was much more friendly and pleasant.

We had a lovely lunch here today. Good choice of dishes. We chose from the specials menu . The food was delicious and well presented . The fruit crumble and custard was really good! The waitress was very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend a visit.

I can’t recommend this place enough. Me and my partner came for a quick lunch here, not knowing the area. The young brunette waitress, was amazing very kind and attentive running the restaurant. The food is the best I’ve ever had. A good steak pie with a gravy, large portions. Chef needs a pay rise

My partner and I had a wonderful dining experience at Olley's Pizzeria in Pateley Bridge on Saturday evening. The service was outstanding, and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food. The only minor issue we encountered was the excessive noise from a nearby table of six people. If it weren't for their disruptive behavior, we would have stayed longer for drinks. However, this did not reflect negatively on Olley's Pizzeria itself, as they were amazing.
Fantastic restaurant which I regularly visit. Service is great & the staff are always friendly. First time I’ve had the lasagna & it didn’t disappoint.

Visited Olleys Pizzeria Italian restaurant in Pateley Bridge on a Saturday night, the restaurant was busy but seemed to be a few tables available. The menu seemed to have enough choice to cater for most. The pizzas on the menu were ok, didn't seem that authentic, perhaps didn't seem like they'd been cooked in a wood fired pizza oven. They're also quite expensive, average £17 for a pizza.
T Vickers — Google review
The service is so friendly. Fabulous little place. Huge menu and everything we have had has been lovely. Couldn’t eat it all, so they packed up our leftovers for us too.
Jo Tomlinson — Google review
Ate here twice and drank here a couple of other times (we were in Pateley Bridge for 6 days) because it's a lovely restaurant with top quality food and friendly, welcoming staff. Definitely recommended.
Stephanie Walters — Google review
Used to love this restaurant. Never have I experienced such bad service. My wife's side don't come, they charged adult for my daughters meal, my sons burger was wrong & mine never came after asking twice. When the bill came it chip a side & starter we never ordered. Expected more than just a free garlic bread. So disappointed, gone massively down hill.

It’s been a few years since we visited last. It was an impromptu reservation a couple of hours before on Friday night for 4 . We received a warm and friendly welcome on arrival. The food was absolutely fantastic. Tagliatelle con Pesce, Schnitzel, stroganoff and pizza al pachino come highly recommended.
Tony Gomersall — Google review
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food options and great quality. Price is slightly on the high side for food. As a side note, some good scotch at a fair price if that's your fancy.

Booked here to celebrate our anniversary. Quick service for drinks and starter but unfortunately had to wait over an hour for main course.

A fabulous family friendly place to eat. A well put together menu with a broad Range of choice and not just pizza. A great selection of local beer including the great 54° and others. Very nice and helpful staff. Highly recommended. 👍🍺🍕🇮🇹

My partner and I had fabulous meal at Olleys In Pateley Bridge on Saturday evening, service was brilliant, really enjoyed the food...the only little issue we had was a party of 6 people on a table nearby where particularly noisy (excessively so) I think had they not been there we would have stayed longer for drinks, but felt put of by a small group of peoples behaviour. Will not mark Ollys down, as it's not there fault, they where amazing.
Lynne Walsh — Google review
Had a great meal here. My bolognese was really good and my wife's beef stroganoff was delicious. The pizza was tasty, no complaints but it came out uncut so we had to cut it ourselves, no biggie. Small, cute place where you can have a drink and order some. Restaurants aren't always open late in Pateley, so factor that in to your trip.

Toft Gate Barn is a charming and quirky cafe located at The Bivouac at Ilton near Masham. It offers a cozy atmosphere where visitors can enjoy hot chocolate, play board games, and socialize with friends and family. The cafe also hosts special events, trails, and craft activities for guests to participate in. Visitors have praised the delicious lunch options such as quiche with homemade coleslaw and chutney, along with unique salads featuring ingredients like blueberries.
Fantastic food, staff were brilliant. We were a group of 28 and honestly there wasn't a single thing we could fault. Staff could not do enough for us, so friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend 👌

After a lovely walk (AA Walks: The Mines of Greenhow and Bewerley Moor) we were ready for something nice to drink and eat. Steak Pie, Chips and Peas was the perfect answer. What an amazing place this is. So pleased to have found it.

Fabulous! Brilliant food grown and created on the farm. Excellent staff. Lovely interior with spectacular views. Only the slightly muddy / pot-holey entrance let's your initial impressions down. Once you're over the threshold you'll be wanting to return! Food and portions are great, lovely cakes and super hot drinks. Not the cheapest but with this quality you don't mind. Wheelchair friendly if you let them know, you can access from round the back.
James Ferguson — Google review
They were shut! Supposed to be open, according to both themselves and to Google Maps. Very disappointing as had come a fair way. I do dispute their claim though to "best view in North Yorkshire" - that accolade goes to the nearby wondrous Coldstones Cut. And that was open and (albeit honesty boxes) free.

Lovely cafe/farm shop in a lovely setting. We called in today while out on a bike ride. Been passed many times, but this was the first time we've called in. We both went for the Full English breakfast, and I had a flat white coffee also, my friend GP had a can of real Coke. The breakfast was wonderful. As someone who enjoys a proper cooked breakfast, I can honestly say this was one of the best I've had. It's not huge, nor is it small, the ingredients are first class. 2 slices of bacon, a sausage, an egg, half a grilled tomato, beans, a slice of black pudding, some tasty properly cooked mushrooms and a slice of toast. My only slight complaint, well, more of a preference, would be that the flat white coffee was stronger. The lady who served us was really friendly and helpful too, which isn't always the case in some farm shop cafes. We will definitely call again.

Lovely feeling of escapism, views are spectacular very pleasant service and lovely to talk to. Food excellent, obviously fresh wholesome with great menu choice with cakes and things to choose from too. Very atmospheric converted barn. All round excellent.

Thought at first glance the Menu looked nice & Husband chose the Steak Pie on special & I chose the Quiche & ordered a separate portion of chips. The chips were awful, so very overcooked & greasy. I had rather a small peice of quiche in relation to the huge half plate portion of tasteless lettuce. Service was rather minimal & no checks on whether food was OK. I wouldn't rate their hot food at all.
Vanessa Lee — Google review
Great spot and delicious selection of cakes. Good choice of hot pies too. We had the beef sausage roll and a blondie, both of which were superb. Definitely will pay them another visit as they did do good but sadly didn’t have time to try it.
Dan Lomas — Google review
This is such a lovely little place. Food is really good. They cater for gluten-free and they also have a decent selection of fresh fruit & veg and meat from their own farm. The “Naughty Corner” is our favourite place, especially when the fire’s lit. Highly recommended.
Neil Pittaway — Google review
Great place to take dogs after a walk. Homemade steak pie, chips, quiche & cakes on the menu - all delicious! Lovely cappuccino's & a huge pot of tea for 2, very spoilt! Nice real fire stove for the dogs to chill out in front of whilst we ate. Friendly staff too. A really lovely treat. Not sure why it says it's permanently closed on TripAdvisor as it most certainly isn't 🥰

I read the reviews of Toft Gate Barn and decided that we would have lunch here rather than in Pateley Bridge, so glad we came. We both had the homemade quiche (caramelised onion) with chips to share, it was delicious 🤤. Shame we didn’t have room for a piece of cake 🍰 as they also looked delicious. Thank goodness we found this lovely cafe which has seating downstairs and even more upstairs.
Andrew Easton — Google review
We went for a gale force windy walk up to the Cut and surrounding area after. Went to this cafe afterwards for some lunch. It wasn’t busy at this time of year. Had an amazing lunch of what was advertised as quiche and homemade coleslaw and chutney. Much better than that! The quiche was delicious, the homemade coleslaw was homemade coleslaw but the chutney and salad were the show stoppers in our opinion. I’ve never thought of putting blueberries in a salad! Anyway, the coffee was good. We sat at the window so we could look at the view of where we’d just walked. As we ate the view quickly disappeared. The weather up there changes quickly. We’re very grateful to be inside.

The pub and restaurant at The Sportsman's Arms boasts a wonderful selection of beers and other beverages. The food offerings are exceptional, with the venison being a particular standout dish. While it may be slightly pricier than your average pub, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. This establishment is perfect for a meal out or even a stay in their beautiful B&B. Guests have raved about the delicious food, which is expertly prepared and presented.
amazing fresh local produce, superb flavours and menu choice, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.

Fantastic food and a stunning location. Building is also very pretty and well maintained. Service started a bit iffy, I wanted to sit outside and there was only one other table occupied, I was very abruptly told I needed a table number, like I had just committed the greatest sin of the 21st century. After resolving my crime of the century my food was delivered to the table, a nice beef sandwich and chips.....no asking if I would like any sauces for my chips or anything like that, you get what you're given. Can't tell if this is because I wasn't a local or if it's because I'm a biker and it's an upmarket establishment.....which is funny because my Harley was worth more than 90% of the cars in the car park.....but I digress. When I went back in for a second drink, service picked up, I was asked if I enjoyed my meal and staff were friendlier this time. I try not to hold grudges hence the 4 star rating but while I'm not local, this was my 4th visit in two weeks and only this time did I have issues, maybe they don't like bikers here or I just caught them on a bad day?

Excellent pub / restaurant Are there on consecutive days. Good selection of beer and other drinks at the bar. Food was excellent- my favourite was the venison. The photo is the lamb A bit more expensive than your normal pub Excellent staff - very friendly and helpful

If you like snazzy this place is for you, or at least one of their rooms is for you. The outside and the entrance seating didn’t give the posh vibe at all. We reserved a table but we weren’t given the choice where to sit which is fine but to me it makes a big difference. I didn’t know enough about the place, I though it was just a typical pub that served food. The waiters even took it very seriously, I felt like I was in Paris or something. Anyway I can’t really fault them on that that’s just my preference, this place would definitely float many peoples boats. The food portion size were okay… but the prices are definitely up there. I had a three course and by the end I was full and happy, which I guess you should expect. I think this place would suit many people especially if you’re thinking of a special meal with a special person 🙂

An excellent atmosphere in this lovely country pub. The food is varied and delicious. We just attended a 50th wedding anniversary there. They coped admirably with a party of 16, giving us good, friendly service. The range of food chosen was wide and all cooked to an excellent standard.

Harefield Hall is an exquisite lodging nestled within a 15th-century manor house, offering refined accommodations and a contemporary British cuisine restaurant. This stunning hotel has meticulously preserved the historic building, providing a captivating atmosphere for guests. The personalized service provided by the limited staff surpasses that of large chain hotels, ensuring memorable experiences. The spacious and comfortable beds offer restful nights, complemented by breathtaking views.
We really enjoyed our stay here. We paid a bit extra for a larger room. It had a great view across the valley and a bay window you could sit in to soak up the sunshine. The staff are friendly. We ate in the restaurant for two nights and the food was high quality. The hotel also has a bar which non-residents can use. It was popular and this added to the atmosphere in my opinion. In the hotel description it says to think of it as a large guest house rather than a luxury corporate hotel. If you stay with this in mind you will enjoy it.

Harefield Hall is a super idyllic Place with very atmospheric decor, a cozy bar, and a chic restaurant, as well as very friendly hosts. The rooms are quite small and very noisy, but that's not unexpected in such an old building. All in all, it was a pleasant stay, thank you very much!

We booked into the hotel last minute and are so pleased we did. Our room was very comfortable with 2 big arm chairs and a table overlooking the garden and a fabulous view of Guys Cliff and the 2 stoops( Yorke’s Folley ) The bathroom was modern with a large walk in waterfall shower. The bed itself was like a football pitch and was very comfortable. When it came to dining we sat in the cozy bar area with a log fire for a couple of real ales, then went to the elegantly set out restaurant for a well priced and delicious 3 course meal made from locally sourced produce. If you wish to visit Nidderdale I would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel or even just stop in for a bite to eat and a bear

1 star is even too generous !! My parents booked for 1 night stay there was a sign that said check in time 4pm they were waiting more than 45 minutes called the ring door bell no one answered there were no lights on. Called up and was told that today was blocked out even though my parents had booked and a booking confirmation email. Absolutely ruined the day and left them with no where to stay! Absolutely disgusting service !!! My mum called and spoke to someone who was absolutely no help whatsoever and didn’t even apologise never had a service as poor as this DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME !!!!!

We had a lovely stay at Harefield Hall when visiting Harrogate for the weekend. The staff were friendly and efficient and very helpful. We had not planned to eat at the hotel but they managed to fit us in. At first we thought the food was slightly on the pricey side however the portion size was larger than expected. Although not a huge range on the menu we were not disappointed. Our room was larger than expected with a view over nearby countryside. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was heavenly! Although a little tired looking in some places we found our room great value for money. The breakfast the next morning was lovely and set us up for the rest of the day. Although not a huge selection on the continental side it was certainly value for money. If we are ever in the area again we would definitely think about staying here for a second visit.
Emma Gates — Google review
We ate in the restaurant tonight and it was great. After a mile’s walk in the pouring rain we were able to thaw out before a roaring log fire with excellent beer before our meal. Food, service and ambience were excellent and Nicky who was running the bar and restaurant single handedly was a star: efficient, friendly and cheerful. Thank you.
Kath Chapman — Google review
We booked a table of 5 here for my mum's birthday via email at 6:30pm which was confirmed. We then received a phone call less than 24 hours before this date to ask if we could change the time of the booking because of an error on their part. Once we were seated the service was OK and the food was above average but one of us did find a hair in their food. When we told the staff about the hair we were made to feel it was in some way our fault although they did actually give us the money off for that meal. When we were leaving the premises we said thank you and we were ignored by staff that had been serving us, this turned what would have been an alright experience into a negative one and were left with a sour taste in our mouths.

Beautiful hotel! If I could give it more stars I would. The building is incredible and for an old place, it's been cared for and kept very well. There aren't very many people working here but it's a much better personal service vs a big chain hotel. I'm happy to wait a little longer for service but have my choice of drink remembered! The bed was huge and comfortable. The views are great. Food so good that we chose to eat both nights at the hotel. Breakfast size plentiful. All in all, will be recommending this place to everyone and can't wait to bring my girlfriend back here for our anniversary!

We stayed for one night and Harefield Hall turned out to be an ideal place to stay. The room was spacious and had everything we needed, including a bath and great views in the morning. The two members of staff we encountered were polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine, but there are parts of the hall that are ‘dated’ and in need of refurbishment. However, a decent stay.
