Station from which day-trip excursions on restored steam locomotives head into Germany.
Simpleveld, a quaint train station with open air restaurant next to the train tracks. It's a perfect place to soak the sun when out, drink and eat and do nothing else. The steam train departs from the station. The to and fro ride ride lasts about an hour. The time flies sadly, the ride feels shorter than an hour. The train coaches take you way back in time and are well maintained. The scenery is quite pleasing to the eye, keep you camera handy! Pro tip, some windows can be pushed down (not all), helps if it's too hot inside or if you want to take pics. You get a decent view of the rolling hills if you haven't been here in South Limburg before. Tickets are 15 bucks an adult. Free parking next to the station. Recommended.

Awesome experience and fantastic, friendly staffs bring you back to time travel and lots of fun! Thank you so much! This is our second time here, and this time we brought our 88 years old Oma with us and she enjoyed a lot. We'll come again when my family visit us. P.S. There's a very nice pastry shop nearby with maybe the best Limburg Vlaai!
Joanne Lo — Google review
Lovely train and very scenic ride. I would also appreciate an announcement talking more about the history of the train.
Vanessa Hebert — Google review
Very nice outing if you are in the neighborhood. Restored steam & an old diesel train travel through the scenic landscape of South Limburg. There is plenty opertunity to enjoy the food and local specialty vlaai, which is a cake with either fruits or rice, which my sound odd but is actually very nice, at the many stops along the approx 40km of tracks. Single ticket allows access all day to each of the trains and can be combined with a visit to Valkenburg for example. Enjoyed our day with the ZLSM in the steam train.

Lovely day!! Really fun little trip on a lovely railway even though they couldn't steam because of the drought. Service was instead pulled by a lovely 1950s Dutch diesel locomotive, with the same Nederlandse Spoorwegen logo on it as today. Lovely experience all round and a lovely lunch as well! Strongly recommend as a nice attraction off the beaten track if people are interested! Can imagine great for families too.

Museums
The Museum Vaals, an art institution, has temporarily ceased operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite its closure, the museum boasts a splendid and aesthetically pleasing garden. This outdoor space is particularly impressive, offering a delightful environment for visitors to explore and enjoy. The ambiance of the garden is truly enchanting; it exudes beauty and charm through its lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and meticulously designed landscapes.
Very nice

Museum worth a visit if you are around here. But nothing much to show except it’s same old church artefacts. Apart from that the restaurant next to it is nice

(Translated by Google) Nice to see such a huge collection of images. Opening times on the website are incorrect!! Is temporarily only open on Saturdays and Sundays (opening times on Google Maps were correct). Walking forest with the few statues of the Stations of the Cross requires maintenance. It's also a shame that several Stations of the Cross are the same and are in danger of falling apart. You can see from this that the entrance fee is desperately needed to keep up with everyone (actually they could use a nice subsidy). Also nice is the fact that the meaning of your name is looked up.
Nico Zwaneveld — Google review
(Translated by Google) This museum buys everything from churches that are closing. It's impressive how many images they have. At the entrance the manager asks your name and when you leave you get a paper which means your name. Nice to see so many statues when you are in the area, definitely worth a look.

(Translated by Google) Very impressive museum that was created for a good initiative: beautiful religious people look at you as you walk through the church. At the end of the church you can find information about each saint in a plastic-covered leaf folder. Beautiful church music plays in the background, which is also available for purchase. By the way, when you say your name at the beginning, they make a historically and religiously etymologically correct history story of your name and how it is reflected in the Christian religion, for example which saint. Very unique and fun! Entrance is €5 per person and you can also donate for maintenance. The cafe nearby is also fantastic, offering a coffee, pastry and even a 3-course meal for an incredibly affordable price. Immediately after the meal you can take a walk through the park, where all kinds of religions are located. All in all, an incredibly impressive and unique museum that is definitely recommended.

(Translated by Google) Nice museum with church statues. The €5 you pay is quite expensive if you don't see it as a gift. We went in with the idea that the people who work there have to maintain everything from that €5, so we see it more as a gift than as going to a museum. The THREE-COUNTRY POINT museum is a spot where Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands all come together. It's located at the summit of Vaalserberg, which is also the highest point on the mainland Netherlands. You can cross into each country by linking your hands across the border at this spot.
Absolutely gorgeous here. Mad to think you can go to three countries in the matter of like three steps to the left or right. The forest walk was beautiful and the diner was too. Can't wait to go back there.
Abbie xo — Google review
It is a good place to be. First of all reaching the spot itself is a good small trek or a bicycle ride, as this point is up the hill. Then the observant tower gives you a great 360 view around. Climbing the stairs of the tower is an experience in itself. If not atleast lift can be used to reach the top. Not for people with fear of heights. The woods around this place are a wonder to explore in different ways and some cafe or restaurants can further add to experience.
Lay Gupta — Google review
The place is very interesting as you can see all three borders! It seems has a lot of activities for kids. The route to get there is also very nice. But the tower itself I found quite pricey. There could be a bit more structure about the borders (flags, etc.)
Gabriella Barbosa — Google review
Obviously it’s a great location where you find 3 countries border in a single point. Things you will get: Naturally it's beautiful. You can walk through the wood. Enjoy labyrinth. Restaurant. Kids playground. A viewpoint tower. But, I was pretty hopeless. There should be more activities, more fun things, it is not a dreamy place as it would be.
Mumtahana Yeasmin Tanwee — Google review
I went there twice, first on a weekend and then in a week day therefore I can recommend the best day to go there, and definitely week days are better. You won't find a lot of people and you can take your pictures if you'd like to and walk in peace. There is no much to see and do over there, but I think is a unique experience to be able to step in three countries in a matter of seconds 😁. Moreover, you can go to the viewpoint and appreciate the view from the sky 😅.
K?tia Gomes — Google review
Interesting place, nice woods to walk through. An observation tower you can climb to look around for €5. There's a special beer labeled for this place. Important: call before you come to see if the maze is open... For us, it was closed for construction, even though their website and their Google business entry said it would be open...

Three countries meeting point( Netherlands, Belgium and Germany). It was a nice road trip and it takes us through country side. Beautiful day spend with family and kid. Entry is free and 4 euros per person to go up the tower. But its worth for it

Interesting place to visit with the all family, nice park and playground, beautiful walks and cycling routes. breathtaking views from the top tower, 5€ ticket entry.

Lots of walking, cycling routes, places to eat and drink too. There is a labyrinth as well but I didn't visit, since i went on a gloomy day, i rather wait for summer. Paid Parking available.
Jaime Chacoff — Google review
It’s a beautiful place to explore. One can make it up to the tower to enjoy the spectacular views across Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Both walking & Cycling routes are available. It is also good place for a day-out with kids. We have been to this place multiple times.
Dr. RM, A Traveller — Google review
Great point where the three countries meet. Great playground for kids. There are lots of cafes or kiosks for drinks and snacks . Also there are nice hikes around the region. The actual point where everyone takes a lot of photos (or selfies) can be a bit crowded and difficult to get hold of. it's worth a drive when you are in the region.
CrticalTraveller — Google review
Since I visited on a drizzle day it was all fog and the best scenic atmosphere around. Pleasant for a walk around with no crowd around. Only if the museum or the skywalk is to be visited then buy tickets else to see the point no special tickets needed at all

Beautiful place in the wood. Here you can see the border of three countries Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. But one of the countries (Neutral Moresnet) assimilated with Belgium. The areas around this is quite beautiful and if time permits, a walk ot trek is recommended. The Vaalserberg is a hill with a height of 322.7 metres (1,059 ft) above NAP and the highest point in mainland Netherlands.

Perfect place to visit and admire nature in all its glory, while seeing one of a kind monumental landmarks. Went during the wintertime. Thus, only a few things to do around the area. However, if you’re a nature enthusiast you’ll surely enjoy this moment of sightseeing and exploration. Only downside is that the availability of elevator to reach the top of the tower can be unpredictable. The Belgian fries at the stall next to the tower are a must to try!
Katy Orozco — Google review
A unique place. It was once a 4 border area until one of the countries (Neutral Moresnet) assimilated with Belgium. Not many places in the world can boast of such a neutral and free access border. The areas around this is quite beautiful and if time permits, a walk ot trek is recommended. This area is via the highest point within mainland Netherlands.

This is a nice public space with some trails, a great observation Deck with beautiful views, a playground, Europe's (largest?) Hedge maze, and what appear to be a variety of little shops that are open in the summer (I'm not sure though, as the buildings were closed up when we went). I traveled from cologne to see it, then stopped in Aachen for the Christmas markts on the way back. Perfect trip!

An interesting point, a three country border, Germany-Belgium-The Netherlands! Popular among tourists. A pole depicts the point where borders meeting. One can enter from any country, have fun there; climb to a high rise tower for aerial view of surroundings in all three countries, have Coffee/snacks/ meals in The Netherlands just 50-100 metres across, track in the adjoining forest/ridge in adjoining Germany and go out to any country.

The Mount Vaalserberg is a remarkable historical landmark situated at the intersection of The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, also known as Three Points or Drie Landenpunt in Dutch. This location offers fantastic opportunities for leisurely strolls and sightseeing. Two observation towers, namely Wilhelmina toren overlooking NL and DE, and Boudewijn toren facing Belgium, provide awe-inspiring panoramic views.
Hey everyone....The highest mountain in the Netherlands 322m 1058 ft ... Easy peasy hiking or a trip with the family, there are also monuments in the area.... Border of 3 countries Belgium Netherlands Germany

Great place for walking and site seeing of the landmark that connects The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany known as Three Points or in Dutch Drie Landenpunt. There are two sight seeing tower that give you an incredible look over either NL and DE (Wilhelmina toren) or Belgium (Boudewijn toren). You can also get either some fast food, snacks and ice or decent food at either of the three restaurants. There are some free but mostly paid parking lots and a free play garden for children.

Here you see one solitary burial mound dating from the Neolithic period (beginning 5000 BC) and/or the Bronze Age (3000 to 800 BC). Most of the burial mounds on Vaals and Vijlenerbos were excavated in the 1920s and 1930s by the German geologist Liese, but some are still untouched, like this one here. The restaurant In de Oude Watermolen offers a pleasant ambiance, with a terrace that provides picturesque views of a pond. The cuisine is of high quality, although it is on the expensive side. The service is satisfactory, and the overall experience in this beautiful location is favorable. Additionally, there is a bistro associated with the hotel that serves excellent food and has efficient staff members. The establishment offers an ideal setting for relaxation, showcasing stunning vistas and providing outstanding service from the kitchen staff.

(Translated by Google) The relatively poor overall rating is apparently due to the associated bistro. We got an excellent menu in the restaurant itself. There was really nothing to complain about in all three courses. What was a bit lacking was the pumpkin foam as a greeting from the kitchen at the beginning. And there are only menus with three courses or more, all of which were plentiful. Unfortunately, people who just want to eat a little something are not well served here. In my opinion, you can't blame the restaurant for that.

Troje is an excellent eatery with delectable cuisine and an incredibly amiable staff. This charming establishment, which operates as a family business, boasts waiters and waitresses who are exceptionally kind. 後面有一組情侶剛進來,我們馬上行善勸退😏 We don’t like to leave bad review unless it’s really horrible!!!! If you want to see how food can be so badly prepared, you can give it a try. The fish fillet is super thin and tasteless, and the portion is sad as shown in picture. You can find a better one in supermarket freezer. The appetizer plate ‘looks’ nice, but taste 😱. We don’t know how can some squid ring being hot and some are cold, we don’t want to think it’s recycled, but it makes you think😒 We ordered sparkling drinks (bitter lemon and appleschorle) and guess what, not sparking at all. After the meal, we are left with a bad aftertaste and 40 euros less, we’ll have to go somewhere else and eat before we leave🥲

Poor excuse for Greek food. Staff is nice but nothing feels fresh, prices for big portions are there but only comes with big amounts of the cheap stuff like fries and whatnot. Everything seems to be fried, maybe it makes it easy to hide the low quality. It feels like a mashup of the discounted part of Lidl. A plate with mixed entries was ordered. All the vegetables and carbs were freshly fried, but all the seafood was cold and probably fried hours ago. Never coming back.

Brasserie Lodge is a charming restaurant located in Vaals, offering a picturesque setting with huge windows that provide stunning views of the surrounding hills. The location is particularly cozy during snowy winters and summer nights. While the food could use some improvement, especially the steak and desserts, the menu offers plenty of options at affordable prices. The service is fast and friendly despite being quite busy, making it ideal for an evening weekday visit. Booking a table in advance is recommended due to its popularity among guests.
An absolutely picturesque location that justifies a visit in and of itself. Fortunately, the food is also excellent. However, expect to book a table beforehand and slower than usual service, as the place is absolutely filled with guests. Good vibes.

Recommend a evening weekday, because during lunch or in the weekends the road can be quite busy. The food could use a bit more touch, especially the stake. Deserts are also a bit sad as is the wine. Could use a better assortment. The service however was fast and very friendly. And the location indeed is great.

Excellent view over the hills here in the south of Limburg, not overly crowded and they have multiple spots available outside. Certainly worth a small stop.

Lovely restaurant at a great location! Huge windows provide a fantastic view of the hills in this region and it's particularly cosy in snowy winters and summer nights. Good menu with plenty of options (but not too much), it's affordable and I'd definitely recommend it.

(Translated by Google) What a special location! This unique restaurant is located underneath the town hall. Small but very nice, atmospheric and hospitable. Beautiful menu with beautiful dishes. You can also order delicious dishes from the menu, such as fresh asparagus from the cold ground. The dishes were excellent and prepared with care and love. The hostess is so hospitable and that is also reflected in the young ladies in the service. They are even willing to take you back to your home or residence so you can have a nice drink. Where can you find that in the catering industry? These people really get it!

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but we experienced a scandalous scam. 1) After ordering our dishes, the waitress brought us 2 pieces of baguette bread, with butter. It was a simple supermarket baguette, baked in the oven (very "low-end"). When we paid, we noticed that each of the 2 pieces of bread was billed at €9.65! However, in any restaurant, a basket of bread (much better than here) is offered. 2) For the adult dishes, a supplement of 6.25€ is charged for the sauce! This makes the price of the dish far too high (in Vaals, you can eat a similar dish for half the price). 3) The children's dishes are very ordinary: just a little meat, French fries, and compote served in the plastic pot... for 16.50€ (for one dish, not both); again, this is much more expensive (and not at all better) than the children's dishes usually found in local restaurants. In the end, we paid 182€ for just 4 adult dishes, 2 children's dishes, 2 glasses of prosecco and 2 bottles of water. We left with an unpleasant feeling to have been cheated out of around 40 euros. How disappointing!

The Restuarant is located in the basement and has a truely bohemian atmosphere. Food is excellent, if a little expensive. Service was great noting I appreciated the fact they are not always at your table chasing an order. Staff were excellent. You can even purchase local art and craft products.

Wauw! Allebei heerlijk! (Translated by Google) Wow! What a delicious meal we had here tonight. A beautiful location, friendly staff and food to die for. Definitely recommended if you are in Vaals or the surrounding area. We both had the carpaccio as a starter. What surprises on the beautifully decorated plate. My husband then had the tournedos and I had Limburg sour meat, or a stew. Both delicious!

Definitely one of the best restaurants in town. We have been there with a big group of 20+ people and they arranged a special meal for us. Unfortunately nobody told them that we had some vegetarians and also one vegan in our group. But that was absolutely no problem. They served some amazing vegetarian and even vegan options. Highlight was the vegan tiramisu which was spontaneously created by the chef. You exceeded all our expectations. Thank you so much!!!

They were worried that we didn’t like the food, because we ordered only one dish for two, but wow, the food was scrumptious The service, though, has potential for growing

(Translated by Google) We ate here on a Saturday evening and it wasn't busy yet when we arrived. Nevertheless, we had to wait an extremely long time for our meal. Employees were friendly, but it would have been nice to get a mini snack as compensation. Something like that suits this restaurant, where the owner himself indicates on the site that you have to wait a long time. I would have liked to eat a little less meat (I ate schnitzel) and a little more vegetables (there was a handful). This is more appropriate these days, when meat is no longer the main component of a meal, even if you are not a vegetarian. Schnitzel itself was tasty, but also very salty. I found the mention on the menu that it was pan-fried to be remarkable. Doesn't that go wrong in other restaurants? All in all, tasty, but not quite great.
