There are numerous reasons to visit the remarkable Chiesa di San Pietro Apostolo. One factor alone suffices: the opportunity to marvel at the masterpieces showcased inside. These include glazed terracotta artworks crafted by acclaimed potters like Della Robbia and other talented artists from their workshop. The experience of beholding such exquisite beauty evokes a plethora of emotions, leaving visitors enthralled in awe.

(Translated by Google) Sacred building dating back to 1224. In 1578 it assumed the title of Parish Church. Romantic style. Very suggestive and picturesque like the whole village of Radicofani. It's wonderful to get lost in the streets of this delightful and original place, beautifully kept. The houses are made of stone and brick, like all the villages in the Val d'Orcia, beautiful. (Translated by Google) It is the main church of Radicofani dedicated to Saint Peter. Built around the 10th-11th century, it has undergone various interventions and modifications over time. The facade, in squared volcanic stone, has a simple but beautiful portal with lunette. The interior with three naves is in Romanesque-Gothic style but without interesting details if it were not for the works it houses, many of which were created by the master Andrea della Robbia and some of his disciples, works created with the glazed terracotta technique. The Crucifixion of Jesus is splendid, placed on the main altar, with the weeping Magdalene at his feet. In the right nave the Madonna Crowned by angels stands out, with S. Job and S. Antonio Abate. It is also worth mentioning another Madonna crowned by angels, with St. Michael the Archangel and with St. Catherine of Alexandria located in the left nave. Other interesting works present are the polychrome wooden statues by Tuscan sculptors such as that of the dead Jesus, the Madonna del Castello, etc.

Simple church with a single hall which is worth a visit for the work found on the main altar, a splendid glazed terracotta reredos by Andrea della Robbia depicting the Madonna Crowned by Angels and surrounded by several Saints. Also interesting is the 15th century wooden crucifix located on the right side of the church. Fortezza di Radicofani is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. The town boasts several notable buildings, including the Palazzo Pretorio, Chiesa di San Pietro, and Chiesa di Sant'Agata. The highlight of the visit is the Rocca di Radicofani, an old fortress turned into a well-known museum situated on a basalt rock offering stunning panoramic views of Val d'Orcia.
I loved this place and the story about their version of Robin Hood. They have a cute restaurant and lots of places to see the most wonderful views. It’s only a couple of euros to get in and the people running this are very friendly and have put in real effort to improve it.

To be honest I had no idea what this place was before I visited. We stopped here on our way to Rome, as we were leaving the Val D’Orcia. To be frank: the best views we saw of the Val D’Orcia were from here. There’s also a nice little museum here that explains the historical importance of this site.

It was an absolutely amazing experience. It's a beautiful place and if you are in the area and interested in castles and forts, it's a must see. There is also a grill with great food right next to the Fort. The Fort itself has tons of information inside and has a great view over the area. Entrance is €4 per person and it's definitely worth it to do it alone or as a group. The tight, windy staircases give you a great feel for the history of the place while also not feeling too claustrophobic. You can really envision the history that comes with the Fort.

Radicofani is a charming town situated in the Province of Siena, boasting a picturesque location on the southern edge of Val d'Orcia. Positioned at an elevation exceeding 800 meters above sea level, it offers a sweeping and expansive vista that encompasses the entire valley, stretching from Monte Amiata to Lake Bolsena and Lake Trasimeno.
From far away, you will see a very high Castle. Honestly there’s nothing to do around or there is only a small cafeteria with a very limited menu when we went they basically had nothing. We just got a Coke. But the actual tower is very beautiful. The region has some very interesting history as you walk through the castle. At the very top you’re going to have excellent photo opportunities of the Tuscany range. Afterwards actually recommend you to explore the Radicofani towns in the area. We managed to find one where they had an excellent little deli hidden inside that city. You’re going to have to do some walking of course not everything is on Google maps, especially not for the unknown small cities.
