Went to Setenil for a quick visit and it's indeed a special place to see. Parked at the main parking and it stays around a 10min walk from the village highlights, the covered street. It didn't seem to have many options for lunch but we eventually found a good spot. It was sunny and warm day even in December.

Very small town but with a history and very nice streets to walk. The houses have been built into the rocks and it looks like caves but they are houses. Very good experience.

I traveled from Seville to Setenil, and I instantly fell in love with the journey! The road is full of sunflower fields, bringing a fresh atmosphere. Setenil itself is a charming town, unlike anything I had ever seen before.

Probably one of the most recognisable villages in Spain and we’ll worth a visit. There’s an underground car park, near the old town, which is cheap and I wouldn’t hesitate to use. It’s just an amazing place to wander around!

We then ordered the parillada ibérica for 5 people and we were blown away with the amount of food we received. The pork was very tender and the fries tasted very flavoursome with a hint of pork. I highly recommend Bar Frasquito for anyone looking for someplace to eat in Setanil. Be sure to make a reservation in advance because this place fills up fast for lunch!

Saturday morning getting up late I hoped on a taxi and for 29 euro(tip included) I reached Setenil de las Bodegas. However I will stop and write a short review for Bar la Escueva, a place I took a small meal in on a busy Saturday week. The bar is big, well at least comparing to those from Ronda and I can honestly say that I think it is about the same size as all three places I tried in Ronda. Plus a couple of tables outside so yes, it is big. The prices are a bit higher than in Ronda but even though I ate just a small meal I can honestly say that the food was good. The liver pate, the bread and jamon blended wonderfully and this was one of the nicest surprises from my trip even though it was just a simple, small meal

My wife and I decided to try a few different things. My wife is Spanish and I am not. We mostly speak in English out in Spain. We ordered a bottle of water, tomatoes with tuna, the seafood skewer; which was amazing and the croquettes. It was 40 Euros which was well worth the price for the quality and service. I recommend this place if you want some tasty food.

Too bad didn't stayed here and went for the neighboring place which eventually disappointed us. In La Escueva you must try a salad with their organic pink tomatoes - they are good in the north of Andalusia.

Use that time to stroll around the village center. There are only two roads with caves, divided by a river. The restaurant is on one of these cave roads, so everything is at hand and time will fly. When you get back there is a good chance that there are still one or two before you. Get a drink or simply wait, taking in the scenery. Once you're seated get your order going asap, either because you have scanned the QR code before or because you have already chosen from the menu on their web. If you are unsure, ask the staff for recommendations or tell them any special requirements – we are used to Ribera de Duero, but were told that "la gallinita ciega" was far superior to their Ribera house wine...and so it was. In fact so much that we have now ordered a box of it. Virtually unknown wine with an excellent taste and cheap as chips ! As for the food, they have really tasty vegan options..as well as food for "normal" people (yes, I am the vegan in the family..). The food is good quality and served quickly. The staff are fast, efficient and very friendly. This is the number one restaurant in the village and it is easy to see why.

Great food and service. Big plates for decent price in a very turistic place. We waited for about 30 minutes to get a table, but we knew what we got into, we had seen the comments so we decided to come to this one. We had the croquetas, flamenquines and the parrillada for 2. A lot of food for 2, thankfully we were told that one more dish was too much. The flamenquines were a bit raw inside, but when we told the waitress they immediately took it and brought a new one, well cooked. It was all very good. The fries could be better though.

I found the prices to be quite high for the amount and quality of food offered. They made us pay 1 euro for the dryest, most basic piece of bread I've ever been served. The vegetarians in the group asked for the scrambled eggs without jamón and, although they were assured it was possible, they ended up getting the eggs with the jamón Inside anyway. Only thing that was fine was the space and the niceness of the staff.

Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. We both ordered the leg of lamb and it was incredibly delicious. All other dishes I saw going to other tables also looked very good. I highly recommend this place.

Picturesque town and a fantastic location to sit down for a coffee, drink or meal. The food is quite good with quick service. The tomato and tuna salad is how simple food with good ingredients can be done!

Great location,friendly and fast service but unfortunately a bit of a tourist trap.By far one of the most expensive beers i had in Malaga.7 eur on tap.The crochetas de rabo del torró even though big had only bechamel with a few strings of meat,potatoes soggy and from frozen bag.I do recommend this place for a quick stop but read the menu carefully.

Ok so firstly maybe it's just me but this place asks its clients to scan QR code to see their menu. I might be from another century but this was a first to me. Service was mediocre and could do better. Food... well I know it is Spain and it seems that in every restaurant here you get well seasoned food without asking... and there is hardly any veggies on side together with your food unless you ask... I do not get it but that's Spain for you. In general food was good but service was fair. Plus the QR menu...

The place is beautiful, surrounded by flowers and oranges, with a beautiful view. Fast service, delicious food. Recommendation

The location of the restaurant, in the caves of Setenil is beautiful, but this isn't gourmet dining for sure. I had the fried scuttlefish, each piece came with a different consistency (some super- chewy, some a lot less so). It was basically good bar food.

My second time visiting Setenil and eating at this place, where again...the food and service were exceptional! The refreshing air inside the restaurant, outside being 40 degrees, the waiting time for your order being very short, the politeness of the staff, all these are small aspects besides the delicious taste of the food. I heartily recommend the meat dishes, but the garlic prawn croquettes were also delicious, accompanied by a refreshing goat cheese salad. The cheese tart (Tarta de Queso) as here I have never eaten anywhere else is absolutely insane!!! 🤤 PS: Go dressed lightly because the portions are in large quantities and we didn't leave any leftovers on the plate 🫣

I had an espresso and I think it was one of the worst coffees I might have had in a long time. Its taste was very bitter and strong, rather than smooth which is what it should be like. I feel the staff was not engaging enough and they should be offering different products for a light meal/coffee.

No need to discuss about the location and the beautiful environment. The same with the food. We ordered sirloin beef steak or as they called it there “Solomillo de ternera”. Soft, fresh and delicious meat with fries and little bit spicy sauce aside. Perfect!!! Recommend 100%!

Of course this is a tourist-filled town, so you expect to pay the old tourist premium. However, for the most part La Tasca was great value. The Russian salad is certainly overpriced but everything else was very fair and tasty as well. Great location too, so definitely a great option for lunch.

I enjoyed taking a seat at your charming, little bar during my trip to Ronda. Your coffee is great! The toilets are clean and overall the layout of the establishment is quite cozy. I wish I had more time to stay inside and try out some food from your menu as well. I definitely recommend stopping by and having a morning cup of coffee here 😉👍

Had the slow cooked lamb leg. Asked for salad or vegetables on the side but it was only served with fries. Nice taste but the meat was not warm in the middle. Saggy fries.

The Codillo and the Octopus were fantastic. The setting is of course spectacular, and one would expect some kind of tourist trap place, but this is the real deal!

One of the best places I've eaten in Andalucia. The service was so nice and the food A M A Z I N G! We ordered croquetas (a must!), parrillada ibérica and callos. Simple tasty!

I cannot recommend this place enough! We were a group of 12 people. And each one of us had the best meal here while in Andalucia! The restaurant has a nice cozy vibe, even if it’s within a cave. Lovely staff, helped with photos of the menu. And the kitchen is open. Fried cheese with gem was heaven on earth :) The digestive liquor and coffee at the end was just perfect to end an our long day. I hope you have time to visit the cute town of Setenil de las Bodegas.

A traditional and classy Spanish cafe-bar in the cave, in a typical local fashion, with expected cavy-interior. Fast service and amazing beverages with further gastronomy options.

Small restaurant with terrace! Delicious food (meat specialties+fish specialities) even the menu is not so various! Service is friendly and very fast and prices are so small (one beer = 1.80 euro). Worth to make a visit and have a best meal!

Deception. Prices are per dish. The waiter does not warn that the rubber squid costs 45 euros, although the price on the menu is 10 euros. This is a tourist scam. The taste is terrible. They just didn't eat it enough.

Although they had just run out of the XL calamari that we wanted to try, I had a great grilled octopus with a delicious sauce and a nice desert.

The food was okay, nothing special and value for money not particularly good. Service, however, was unfriendly and inattentive. In addition, we had to change places because the waitress wanted to tidy up the terrace. Cutlery was also only brought on request.

Fair price, good food. An outdoor terrace with a wonderful view, next to the river. In my particular case, the waitress was not so nice, but I think maybe she was stressed. Beside that, everything was good.
