Best Cultural performance...... i ever seen at any place......their performance was best .They hold their tradition and culture in themselves. They entertain a lot . I found it an absolutely amazing experience witnessing the cultural shows at the Sauraha Tharu Culture House, when visiting Nepal. These shows were nothing short of spectacular, leaving a lasting impression on all of us who had the privilege of experiencing them then. Moreover, beyond the sheer entertainment value, these performances served as invaluable educational experiences, offering invaluable insights into the history, beliefs, and values that shape Tharu identity. It's nice to see the culture and the energy the performers bring. 3 star because the mic audio can't be understood and audience made lots of noise. It would be better if they asked the audience to be silent.

Enjoyed the cultural dance and each of them telling a story. The skills of the percussion was really good. The dhols were a nice treat as they harmonise with their voices. The peacock dance was a a highlight.

It was really wonderful cultural performance by tharu community who have created a platform for themselves to preserve and showcase their culture and traditions to the world. If you are in sauraha for jungle safari then do not forget to mark up this place in your list as in the end you will be mesmerised. The show is all about different forms of dance performed by tharu community(boys, girls, men and women) throughout the year in different seasons. The show begins right after the dusk, around 7pm lasting for about 1 and a half hour with 5 to 6 performances of various forms of their traditional dances in a wholesome traditional attire with their own instruments. Long stick dance, short stick dance, fire dance, peacock dance etc. are different forms of dances performed here for the visitors. Peacock dance is epic as the moves are so smooth and fluent as if some peacock has came and is performing. During the last dance performance do not hesitate to go to the stage and dance ;) Entry is based on tickets and the prices are nominal. The hall is fully air conditioned with a slight touch of theatre. I have some videos which i will be posting. One genuine setback which i have faced during the show is that the lady who is describing and handling the stage has to be little soft with her english accent as it was becoming difficult to understand the descriptions in between. Overall the show was super and what i have learnt from them is to preserve and conserve one's heritage, customs, culture and traditions.

Loved the stick dance and the peacock dance ... The fire dance was pretty mesmerising too. It was great to see such beautiful performances. They ended it with a really fun note of inviting people to dance as well.

It was a great experience to see their culture via song and dance by the local people.I liked the peacock dance most perdormed by someone of them and at last also joined them during their dance.

Tharu culture house evening show is a must see! An hour long show displays a beautiful mosaic of traditional Tharu dances and instruments. Music, energy and vibrancy of this show will have you dancing on the stage by the end of the evening.

Enjoyed tharu cultural dance. Price of ticket is bit High but we enjoyed the entire show. We have also joined their dance group at the end of program for group dance 😀 Strongly recommend for friends and family

Good place to watch elephants, we need to cross a bridge on foot to reach this place. Bridge in itself is an adventure. Good place to visit in area, one can spend around 45 minutes here including bridge walk. Entry ticket 100 NPR for foreigners!

You have to pay NRs 50 for ticket to entry. You can observe mother elephants and child elephants. There is a adult elephant's skull too. Since this is breeding center, don't expect too much as a visitor. If this is your first time then you will enjoy it.

Fun experiences,especially for kids. Visit before 8 am in the morning,im summer ,as the weather will be cool and pleasant. Also, at around 9 am, the elephant leaves to graze in the jungle. Or visit after 4:30 in the evening.

The place is nice. But not much you can expect. These looked like more for short stay elephants. You will see some small once’s running around or being chained near their mothers. The place can be visited in the morning within an hour max. Nothing much to do or see. The place is serene and nice for an early morning stroll. If you are lucky you may see a group of deers wondering outside the breeding area.

You can see bunch ko elephants and their kids. Nothing much but is a pleasant and peaceful place. I did take a short walk in the jungle, so reaching the breeding center was somewhat of a relief. The entry fee is 50 rupee for Nepalese citizen. They claim that the fee is used for the welfare of the elephants.

Oh my God .... Just loved the way it has segregated sections of mother elephants and their calf. A view that eyes really love to behold Can be visited by all aged .... if they are comfortable in walking . Jeeps also take you to that breeding hub . Horse carts , bicycle an be taken on rent . Such lovely sight to see babies enjoy watching them . Tooooooo goood

Elephants that are bred here are called ‘working elephants’ which means they will be used for breeding, elephant rides, elephants safaris, for various other work their entire lives. When I was taken I saw many animals rocking back and forth which is a sign of stress and depression in elephants. There is a room which explains how the spirit of baby elephants are broken to make sure they are obedient to the mahouts. That’s not how these gentle giants should be living their lives. Please don’t support animal cruelty. Nepal has stunning mountains and beautiful people, visit and enjoy those attractions but not this place where elephants are chained and used for work.

It's hard to see the animals in chains, but it's good for the elephant population and they use the elephants for patrolling the park against Pochers

It's a good project by government of Nepal. Elephants are breeded in protected environment with proper care by doctors and veterinary. Very impressed with overall care and facilities available for elephants here.

This is a pretty sad place to visit. No one in Nepal will be honest to tourists especially about animal cruelty. Ironic when elephants are considered a god, but one religion that is the most important to our guide is ‘tourism’ and that is the only reason this EBC is operating. To breed elephants that will continue to work and safari and bring in the tourists money. I was excited as I thought a breeding centre meant they were breeding them for the wild… this is not the case. They are bred into captivity. Born a slave. Die a slave. 😢 we need to stop this sort of animal abuse.

Worth to visit if you go to the park and safari as well but don't expect much. It's more like a parking lot for elephants than a breeding center. You can see little cute elephants playing with each other which is really lovely but if you want to see more realistic and natural breeding center, you might want to go to Sri Lanka

When we came more nearby, we saw the man hitting the elephant really hard with the hammer on his head to push him and make the elephant follow his commands. This was only a short footage of the day, and it shows directly a lot of how they treat those poor caged animals behind the scenes and before the scenes. The Elephant Breeding Centre at Chitwan National Park offers a unique insight into elephant conservation. While the experience was informative and the elephants well-cared-for, a four-star rating reflects room for improvement in certain aspects.

Some elephants with their kids were there. Nothing more. Yes, the place is good for the children. One more thing and that's on the way, the suspension bridge is a splendid one in terms of construction. Entry fee N.C. 100 only.

Well, Tharu Cultural Museum & Research Center is one of the famous cultural museum which is located in the city of Bachhauli. It represents the detailed view of Tharu culture and their lifestyle. It is undeniable that the museum is easily accessible. We can go there by bike, car, taxi, auto, rickshaw, bus, and so on. Peple with wheelchair can easily go there. We can purchase ticket outside and visit the museum with family and friends. The price is very reasonable. Great museum that portrays history of Tharu people with informative notes. Besides it has on display the rich culture and traditions of Tharus, that range from birth rituals, marriage, festivals to death. The museum also accounts the historical connection of Tharu community, Nepal Government and the English emperor.

Beautiful place to vist. It has a lot of ancient stuffs. This place holds a lot of information about the tharu people. Tharu were the dominant resident of terai region. There are a lot of cultural stuffs of these people. Many dummy model to show the cultural dresses of this ethnicity. There are a lot of photographs showing the hunting done by ancient king of Nepal which i don't loved cuz i don't like to see any animal being hunt or curled.

I suggest to visit this place while you are in Sauraha area .. your perception toward Tharu will change.. you will understand cultural and historical part of Tharu's in Nepal . The museum is just 20 min walking distance from Sauraham Rhino Chowk and if you take 3 wheeler it is 5-6 min drive.. Student get 50% discount on Entry fee so do not forget to bring your card ... The traditional culture and lifestyle is on a rapid pace of Change. Those people were the most primitive settlers in the Tarai Region of Nepal. The culture of going abroad has greatly contributed to the well being of society. However, it has also contributed to the change of their day to day culture and life style with the modern style buildings and western or non Tharu food. This Museum is keeping the some of the informations on the traditional Tharu Culture.
