Fish Sanctuary....Syntu Ksiar is a vast stretch of land that lies on the banks of Myntdu River. The literal meaning of Syntu Ksiar is 'the golden flower' in the local Jaintia language. According to the legend, the place got its name from a lady called Syntu of 'Iawchibidi' clan. It is believed that the lady was committed suicide by jumping into the river here. After she got drown into the river, a beautiful golden flower blooms in the middle of the river which is said to be very beautiful and cannot be plucked by anybody. Thus, the place got its name from this particular flower which grows here.

Don't be misled that you would see fishes here. It's a sanctuary for fishes to flourish in the nearby river. You will get to see local life though : people fishing, betting on an archery game (am told this happens once in a while). It's a peaceful place. But if you are a tourist on a fixed schedule - you may want to avoid this. But if you are a wanderer like me - you would sit hours here doing nothing in the tranquility of the place.

Not very well maintained. May be due to corona. But nevertheless enchanting. The story of how it was made is both romantic and hair raising. I hope someone makes a film out of it someday. Thoroughly enjoyable visit.

The Sajar Nangli Lake is located in Thadlaskein. It was constructed by a General of the Jaintia king who rebelled against the monarch. The lake is believed to have been dug out by the toes of the bows belonging to the General and his followers and is located on the Shillong- Jowai road. A few hotels have opened up near the lake and one can do boating,

Located in West Jaintia Hills District 8 k.m.. from Jowai on National highway - 44 is a man made lake at Thadlaskein fed by a Perennial spring. According to tradition, one Chieftain Sajar Nangli had an irreconcilable difference with the King of Jaintiapur. Not wanting to be blamed for an inevitable bloodbath he decided to flee from the Kingdom with his followers. Before his departure, however, they dug the present day lake with the ends of bows as a memorial. The lake is revered by the people of Raid Mukhla who continue to offer sacrifices near the Lake. A popular outing spot for locals

This place is alluring not only that it offers a peaceful environment it also soothes the soul and have a healing effect as it is surrounded and enfolded in sunny spots of greenery and the beautiful masterpiece of Nature.

It's a serene and well organised botanical park with wonderfully paved pathways, gazebo shelters, benches, dustbins, landscaping, viewpoint, arched causeways. It's part of a sacred jungle and one can listen to the soothing sounds of nature. It's a great place to meditate. Another proud feather in Jowai and Jantia hills.

Great place to be with family and friends. In fact, one of the best tourist attractions that i found, and fortunately it's still pretty much hidden from the commercial world and tourists from other states. Somewhere I'm feeling pretty bad reviewing this place as it's still pretty much unexplored. Coming back to the place, vast greenery, sorrounded by rivers, ample space for children to play, horse riding, cycling and many more activities. Even grills and other stuff also available there at rent. Overall, it's a perfect place for a great time.

The Ialong Park, about 10 kms from Jowai, is a hidden gem, often left out from plans made to the state of Meghalaya, and something you shouldn't miss. If you're planning to visit Meghalaya for a longer period, the Ialong Park is where you need to be to unwind and relax from the overwhelming views and treks during your trip. The view of the Myndtu river and valley is lush green and a tonic for tired eyes. The state government has taken initiatives to make the Park more environmentally relevant. Leisurely activities like fishing and walks are a great way to relax and take in the natural landscape of Meghalaya.

Came to know about it from Google maps. Had a great experience amidist trees and clouds. You can hear birds chirping all the way through your walk and feel the cool breeze. The only problem is that it is situated away from the NH and is connected via a small route which is not shown in the map accurately. Otherwise it was awesome.

Great place to hang out with friends family or couple.. till then it's a safe place with all the greeneries and side view point toward the plain belt river .. have seen some beautiful birds in some seasons.. one guess house nearby.. if you go down towards the end of the road towards the river it's a great spot for picnic and chill out of the river.

Not so great. It's jungle area. Not very disabled-friendly. Clear directions into the park area are missing. Tickets are collected. Rest rooms are kept locked.

A beautiful waterfall to spend a few hours enjoying the sounds of water gushing and the beauty of nature. The views are absolutely stunning, the walk to the waterfall is beautiful and pleasant. We ended up spending way more time than planned at the waterfall as it was super peaceful and beautiful. I would definitely recommend you visiting this place if you are in the area or passing through. Do make this short detour, you will not regret it for sure!

A group of us cycled here from Shillong and camped over on the plains close to the falls. Tryshi falls is magical just like out of a movie scene. The place is well maintained and there is a staircase leading to the base of the falls. It is a very picturesque spot.

Beautiful waterfall at beautiful location. Medium level trek. Mamu steps you have for going down. We visited it in second week of Dec 23

Beautiful waterfall with view points from all sides. You have to walk for a few meters to reach the upper level. Around 700 steps if you visit each level view point. Ample car parking.

One of my favorite is definitely tyrshi falls. It is not the most popular but definitely once you get down the view is stunning. You need to climb down stairs to get a full view of the falls and it's stiff. Climbing up is also will take your breath away but definitely not too difficult. It takes around 20 minutes to climb down and 25 minutes to climb up depending on your stamina level. Entry fee is Rs. 20 per person. You can't take a bath in the waterfall although no restriction is stated but it is too risky hence advised not to try. But the pictures you can get in the waterfall will be remembered for life.

One of the least explored falls of Meghalaya. Very natural views and not so much crowd. Peaceful and very beautiful place to visit. However, don't plan your trip on Sundays cause it's church day. You might not find any suitable place to eat/drink.Entry fees for this site is Rs. 10/20/30 (Depending on the season). You can buy some snacks at the entry gate. Try to visit it before the noon coz it's very far from Shillong Police Bazar.

Entry fees : 20 rs for adult and children 10 rs There is view point which is paddy field which looks good , it’s clean and well maintained. Very very less crowd. You need to walk 40 mins (to and fro). Surrounding you can see small flowers which is so pleasant to watch. Water is not so clean but water falls looks so good to watch.

It's a double layer falls, there are two poi ta to observe it. The photos in my review here is the ones in the upper part.... You can also trek down to the lower part. Entry fees is Rs 20 for adults and 10 for children. Parking space is available. In the ticket counter you will find waters, cold drinks, chips and smokes. Overall a good place for your weekend trip. We also found people cooking there food near the falls and having it. The place is kept neat and clean, dustbins available for throwing your leftovers.

This is what happens to a place that is transformed into a tourist spot. The waterfall is quite nice but the construction is done all around the falls which is definitely an overkill. . I understand the idea of protecting the hikers but I guess if we do so much construction then it kills the overall feeling of hiking. . NOT RECOMMENDED
