There are ATMs in the vicinity of the market, so you don’t need to worry much. There are buses that run into Mapusa from just about everywhere in Goa, for as cheap as INR 10-20 a ticket. Since the place can get really crowded, we recommend you to wear your mask at all times and carry enough sanitiser. market that is open from around 9 am until 6.30 – 7.00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Like most Goan markets, it tends to shut down for the traditional susegad or siesta time in the afternoons. One can find just about anything at Mapusa Market, with items ranging from antiques and Goan pottery to handicrafts, textiles, clothing, spices, fruits, vegetables, meats, jewellery. Bargaining is advised and is a good place to test your haggling skills. On every Friday, local traders, farmers, artisans, etc. showcase their products or works. And that’s the day you will also get the opportunity to buy without paying middleman prices. The place is buzzing and just what one needs after the shopping. One can sit with a chilled beer and take a break and just watch the hustle and bustle of the market. The food is pretty good and is totally value for money. Their crispy fried sardines are a house speciality.

Local market area where all surrounding villages come for grocery and household supplies. Friday market is a weekly market which has been happening for over 50 years and has been cancelled only during the pandemic times ever since. Goods ranging from hardware to garden supplies to hair clips and clothing you can get it all here. During peak times there may not be place to even walk freely. Itsa must visit for a local shopping experience. Goods are usually negotiable but not always. Take care and be safe...

You'll find a wide array of goods, from fresh produce and spices to clothing and handmade crafts. It's an excellent place to shop for souvenirs and experience authentic Goan flavors. The market comes alive on Fridays when it hosts a vibrant weekly bazaar, attracting both locals and tourists. Navigating through the maze of stalls can be an adventure in itself. While it may lack the touristy polish of some other markets, Mapusa Market's authenticity and variety make it a must-visit for travelers looking to immerse themselves in Goan culture.

It is a big market with multiple entry points. Requires time and bargaining skills to make purchases here. There are shops for vegetables, fruits, seafood, clothes, footwear, eyewear, spices, kitchenware, sweets and so on. Vehicles are not allowed inside the market and should be parked outside any of the entry points. Not good for elderly and kids as place is crowded and roads are uneven at certain places.

The local flavour of everyday life is captured in this Goan marketplace. Chillis, fruit, local spices, utensils and so on at great prices! It is a purely local market so not for those used to high end markets. For me,a must on every visit to Goa to get chillis and kokum and sources, pottery and so on!

It has everything any Indian soul needs from spices to wives or husbands :) Seriously, conveniently placed bazaar. Parking is an issue. Bargain here. Food available mainly in snack form. Fresh produce and crazy variety. Market security is visible so I guess it is safe here.

Friday market means Mapusa market. There's a different joy to it altogether. Well I happened to pop by here today enroute home from Siolim, where I had been earlier this morning. You step into a welcome frenzy .. from fresh flowers to hot bread to choris (Goan sausages) to pickles to dry fish to palm jaggery to kokum to spices to fresh fruits and vegetables to metal ware, utensils and utilities, footwear and even the ever famous 'maxis'.. Mapusa market is where you'll find everything at. Check out Pascal's bakery and St. Xavier's bakery for some delectable kazarache boll, dhos, pinad, perad (all Goan/Portuguese sweetmeats) and savouries like potato chops, croquets, cutlets etc. Shopping here is nostalgic of a bygone era, pre-supermarts and hypermarts types. It roots you. It satiates your soul. It makes you happy. Well atleast I vouch for it over airconditioned retail therapy any day 😊

Good market to shop at. You can buy veggies, sausages, fruits, fish, plants, gardening items, bedsheets, pots and everything else under the sun. This place is busy as hell, I was there on a Friday and it was packed with people. My advice to you would be to park your car way before the market because finding parking for a Car is very very tough and for bikes it is easier.

Though the place is crowded on Fridays, it's a local market day, it's worth it. Should have the bargaining capacity. Those who love dried fish they will enjoy. Good for even local nursery. On the whole worth the visit provided you can take the crowd and heat(esp during Mar-May month) in your stride.
suresh kini — Google review
A go-to place for everything especially on Fridays. Clothing, footwear, bedsheets, curtains, accessories, locally grown fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, plastic & iron household items, flowers and anything you can think of you will find it here. You will not find parking space easily and you should know to bargain and be ready to walk in crowded areas.

This temple is of Lord Bodgeshwar- the protector of Mapusa city, goa. He is also called as the caretaker or rakhankarta. This is a very serene place, huge and beautifully maintained. They have toilet facility at the backside of temple, but it was not working when we visited. Visitors come from far off places to visit, hence mentioning abt it. There is a vast parking lot. This temple is close to MOPPA airport though 30 minutes away. There was no rush when we visited on a weekend but people kept visiting this temple. So there was continous flow of people. During the festival time it is crowded and there is a fair on the outer side. If you are visiting North goan Beach you can visit this temple.

This church offers a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of community. The architecture is traditional yet inviting. The worship services are spiritually uplifting, featuring engaging sermons and inspiring music. The congregation is friendly and diverse, making visitors feel at home. However, there could be more emphasis on outreach and community service initiatives. Overall, it's a place where individuals can deepen their faith and find fellowship, but there's room for growth in extending that sense of belonging beyond the church walls.
