Restaurant
Es Caló is a restaurant located in an idyllic setting with breathtaking ocean views. They offer a variety of seafood options, such as mussels, squid, lobster, paella, and grilled fish of the day. The restaurant also boasts an airy terrace where patrons can enjoy their meals. It is situated close to popular attractions but still maintains its own charm and tranquility. The Es Caló lagoon is highly recommended for swimming and snorkeling activities.
Wonderful! We had a reservation at El Mirador that the restaurant cancelled on us due to closing their outdoor seating due to wind. I called Es Calo and they gladly took us last minute. I’m so glad they did, the views and atmosphere are incredible, the staff are so good and happy to serve, and the food is fantastic! The paella was wonderful, appetizers were great (tuna tartare, bread…).

Great setting with nice outdoor space and a relaxed enjoyable atmosphere. Prices are high here but if you wish you can still stay affordable. The paella with blue or spiny lobster is the popular dish here, we went for the fish and seafood paella it was nicely cooked, well presented and some lovely crab, prawn, squid, fish and mussels. Come for the setting stay for a slow leisurely meal with plenty of wine! A great afternoon!

Since we are staying in Apartamentos Es Calo for 4 nights we chose the easy option and made a reservation at this restaurant last night. No criticism of the food nor the choice of food and the service was beyond criticism especially from Alvaro! However the pricing is extraordinary, admittedly we chose an expensive wine at €42 but for 2 pre dinner drinks, just starter and main course and wine, €162 was something of a shock ! However by the time we left on a midweek night in September, the restaurant was almost full so their strategy seems to be paying off!

Lovely spot. Terrace with sea view is worth the trip on its on. Fish and seafood was all fresh a tasted fantastic

Sunday lunch with a beautiful sea view. Great food and good service, we had seafood paella for 3 which had lovely flavour and a lot of different fish.

Best lunch in our trip! We went around 11am to ask for a table for 2pm. Waiter told us they were fully booked but to be back around 2:30 and he’d get us in when any table’s last turn was over. While we waited we were allowed to use their pool and showers, which was great after spending the morning at the beach. We ordered just a couple of starters since we were advised the bogavante con patatas y huevos were big portions (and they were!). The ensalada payesa and the ceviche were delicious and not too filling, and the bogavante was spectacular. We were 4 and ordered bogavante for 2 (~1.4kg). For dessert we shared a cheesecake (curado) which was really good, stronger than the usual baked cheesecake. Last but not least the service was impeccable. From the first late attempt to make a reservation, through the waiting time and service the personnel was really kind and helpful.

Excellent food and even better views. You must go for the lobster with eggs and potatoes (as pictured) and their boiled fish. It comes afterwards with rice and squid. Perfect with some cava sangria👌🏼

This restaurant, located on the beach in Es Pujols, combines traditional spanish and italian dishes with creativity and high quality products. Specialties include homemade pasta made with squid ink and tuna tartare. The atmosphere is relaxed and modern, with a focus on wine tastings.
Pre-Season April 2024: Great ambience plus super nice service. We went there with our kids and it was a really cool mix of people and house music. We had lunch over there with tasty Pizza and Fries. We can recommend the Nutella Icecream 🍧(ask if not on the menu)

Everything on the menu is about 25% too expensive but the setting is nice. Ordered a medium rare sirloin but got served a well-done one. A shame because you could tell it was quality meat. If you walk a bit north-west (left when facing the sea) along the shore you can find some of the nicest beaches of the area.

Excellent setting with good music and views. Good service as well. It’s owned by a nice Italian gentleman. As such expect to eat with a lot of Italians. Food was great. I strongly recommend the fried fish platter to share. I saw many people ordering a pizza, so I would assume that it’s good too. Sushi seemed nice but extremely pricey.

Must see when visiting Formentera, this place has an amazing view and it offers a great atmosphere and ambiance. The staff was very welcoming and professional. The food was amazing (great pizza, pasta dishes, seafood and traditional paella). Great place to enjoy during the day as well, amazing drink and cocktails with live dj music. Highly recommended
E. Garibaldi — Google review
Food was exceptional, especially the lobster special. Service was lacking even before the lunch rush began, we had to chase down our waitress a few times even after she acknowledged we needed her assistance for basic items. Driving to this location is extremely frustrating, it's down long one way roads upon which you will have to back up many times to let competing cars by. You'll be in good shape if arriving by boat.

Very nice restaurant with good service and OK food. Only 3 stars because of the pricing: 30 euro’s for a veggie burger with potatoes, same price for 6 pieces of ravioli. Also, you get bread with olives and aioli to start of with which seems to be on the house but then charge you 10 euro for it. (Also overpriced) Not worth the experience, but we are locals and not tourists. Maybe this changes our view.

Great vibe in the place. We went Sunday for drinks and it was packed, a really awesome chilled summer vibe. Then back for dinner mid week. Much more subdued but the staff were excellent and the food was tasty.

Great restaurant near the water of Formentera. Beach also close by. The place is rather big but still very nice and cosy. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The paella was very tasty but a little on the salty side. Prices are quite high, but the views and atmosphere make up for it. Great tender service of you go there by boat they will pick you up and bring you back to your boat.

One of the most popular bar/restaurant. The picture with the red WW van is a must! There is a nice view from the terrace d overlooking the bay and service is fast and efficient. The menu has a good variety ranging from pizza, fish and meat. The only reason why I gave 4 stars are the prices (40€ for a pizza is insane)…

Lovely restaurant & wonderful view. We really enjoyed this Italian / Mediterranean restaurant. We biked here from the port & it was a nice, easy, flat ride. Great service and the food was awesome. We enjoyed the pizza and bolognese pasta which we were pleasantly surprised about. Definitely a nice place to visit !!

Went here during our stay in Formentera and is was a fantastic experience. The staff was helpful and quick to bring us our drinks and food. Everything was very fresh and delicious. There was great music playing and a live saxophone player walking around playing along with what the dj played. Very fun, energetic place to dine and enjoy time with friends. We went at sunset and the view was beautiful! Highly recommend this place for everyone who goes to Formentera!

Amazing service and food. A big shout out to Matteo, our lovely waiter, who gave us excellent service always with a smile on his face. Thanks also to the manager Mattia. We will come back for sure :)

Best location and they have created a fantastic atmosphere in their restaurant, with flowers and hippie buses at the entrance as well as on the roof. I visited the restaurant on a rainy day without a reservation. The staff were helpful and maintained a high standard. Having said that, the visit costs accordingly and I wish my dining experience had something extra. However, it was better than anything I cooked myself 👌

Italian restaurant
Ca Na Pepa is an ideal restaurant located in a white farmhouse on Placa de la Constitucio, 5 in San Francesc Xavier. It features a spacious terrace adorned with wooden tables, soft lighting, and beautiful buganvilla plants. The menu offers delicious and meticulously prepared dishes that combine Mediterranean and Italian cuisine. Notably, the seafood pasta options are exceptional, with ingredients like lobster and clams.
A beautiful experience on a nice terrace table and creative Mediterranean food from sea as well as land quality ingredients, few plates choices, but very thoughtful. We tried huevos with parmesan sauce and jamón y truffle oil, sublime, then Casarecce de pesto de pistacho con pomodorini y gambas and then Pluma Ibérica de Bellota con boniato cooked "asado" super tasty only suggestion would be to add a bit more side (more boniato as was only two small slices) Then we had Pavlova with Chantilly, strawberries and Mango Ice-cream TOP! So delicate and fresh and Mousse de Crema Catalana with a nice twist of melted chocolate at the bottom! All paired with a nice simple Spanish eat Chardonnay. touche ' This was my second time here last time in 2019 and I must say it didn't disappoint at all after three years!

We visit this restaurant every September from our home on the mainland in Dénia. It's small but very atmospheric with great food and even better service at reasonable prices. Today I enjoyed Salmon Japanese style while Linda had Eggs Benedict with Salmon and Avocado. Both first class! See you next September!

We decided to come after reading reviews on lonely planet. They have amazing seafood options, but I decided to stick to the traditional vegetarian spanish omelette. The gnocchi del mar was fresh and delicious. Clean bathrooms, great service, peaceful location.. did I say they have alternative milk for your coffee? Can’t go wrong!

Absolutely awful food. The pasta arrived cold and congealed, the gazpacho was like Heinz tomato soup with some mozzarella plonked in the middle of the bowl (why???) and the carpaccio of veal was literally drowning in mayonnaise. When I complained the manager refused to deal with the situation and cowardly chose to send a young girl to deal with things in his place. She was absolutely lovely and I felt sorry that she had to work in such an environment. When the bill arrived they had added nearly 50€ to the bill, items that we had not ordered. The whole experience was dreadful. Probably the worst food I have consumed in a very long time. Apparently the owner is Italian. How very surprising. Seems like he has lost his passion for serving good food. A definite tourist trap. My friend who lives on the island explained that it was not a place a local would ever go to. Avoid this place at all costs if you want decent food.

Lovely place, ok food ! Very limited menu for Vegetarians and not even 1 meat free option on their Piadinas! Surprisingly good service for Formentera at peak! The Menu at night is way better than the one for lunch, even though is a great setting also for daytime meals ! Disappointing wine menu.

Had lunch here and was deeply disappointed by the quality of the cooking (not the service, which was good). Our vitel tonné veal came almost raw and chewy. The salmon we replaced it with was boiled and tasted off- something the bland yoghurt sauce failed to cover. Left gripping our stomachs…

Incredible restaurant with a vibrant atmosphere, excellent service and fresh, flavorful dishes. One of our best meals while visiting Formentera. We give this place 5 stars across the board 😍😋
Diane Manda — Google review
The bald waiter was not friendly at all. They bring you bread and charge you PER PERSON 2.50€ (when you didnt ask for it) They then have the nerve to tell you they charge it because washing the napkins isnt free. First time ive heard that in my life. And the drinks are over priced when its dinner at night. A morning coke apparently is cheaper. Id recommend booking for “Il Gioviale” down the road as its always fully booked and a million times better in every way than this place.

Me and my partner had the Anchovy+Butter pasta and the Octopus+Aubergine. It was banging. No cap. Highly recommended, gangster food, and really good prices and nice staff
Dexter Benjamin — Google review
Surprisingly great place. Beautifully presented in one of the few old buildings to be found in the town, incredibly friendly welcome (for big group with lots of small kids so not the easiest table) and, above all, really top drawer simple food with clean delicious flavours. Best pasta a la Norma I've eaten for a long time...and the wine was great too. Only criticism is that the portions are a little bit small...but I'm being picky to even point it out.
Alex Weiner — Google review
This was a 9/10. The gazpacho was absolutely amazing and the curry was also very good. I was a little disappointed with the gnocchi. The ambience was very comfy and calming and suited the place very well, as it is beautifully decorated. The staff was very nice and the price was very reasonable. Would recommend.

Mediterranean restaurant
Franceschino, also known as Can Carlitos, is a new restaurant located in Puerto la Savina. It offers a wide selection of tapas and paellas prepared by renowned chef Nandu Jubany, who owns the famous Catalan eatery Can Jubany in Calldetenes. With an emphasis on using vegetables from his personal garden, Chef Jubany has gained international recognition for his culinary skills.
Another restaurant by Nandu Jubany and, as such, excellent quality but also quite expensive. This one is more tapas oriented, although you can get plenty of main dishes like rice or fish. Every single dish is tasty and excellently executed. You can have basic ones like Ibérico ham with tomato bread and still it is gorgeous -they actually have a ham cutter expert dedicated to it!-. All service is young but very professional. You can find Nandu himself or his son (Eudal). Finally, all the place is open to the beach and you can actually see the -probably- best sunset in the island. Totally recommended! The food is good, well chosen and well-made. We had the bravas, bombes de sepia and ensaladilla together with the seafood paella. Portions are small however quality is good. But for me that’s as far as the goodness goes. 1. We were made to wait at the door in front of the kitchen for 10 minutes. Very awkward trying to wait and not get in the way of the waiters. 2. Service was poor. We had to ask for some help with the menu 4 times. They kept insisting we have to order our wine before the food. 3. There is only 1 girls’ toilet for the whole establishment. It was dirty and there was no running water. Plus the girl before me had a man inside the bathroom with her doing goodness knows what. No one was taking care of this and it’s right in the entrance!! When I commented to the waitress what the situation was, I received a dirty look and a quick excuse. 4. At the end, no one came to ask if everything was ok and about our experience. They were just interested in us paying the bill. Very cold indeed. This is such a shame as I was super excited to visit this place and had been looking forward to it for such a long time. But I WILL NOT be coming back. No one deserves to be treated this way especially for the price the client is expected to pay. Now I know that the moderator will say something like: oh we’re sorry, we will take note of your comment and hopefully improve bla bla bla. But I just wanted to voice my opinion and hopefully shed some light. Great disappointment for my second favourite island in the whole word.

Best restaurant in Formentera. The place is amazing, by the water, beautiful decoration, very beach vibes. Most important: the food is amazing ! Everything delicious

Undoubtedly my favourite restaurant on Formentera. We arrived at lunch time with no reservation but they accommodated us with good grace and charm. The food and service were fantastic, truly fantastic. There were 4 of us and we had mussels, prawns and I had a light starter. Even though they were all delicious we had "food envy" caused by the couple at adjacent table. They had delicious smelling chicken and a fish steak. The service was excellent and the staff so friendly. In fact it was so good that we booked dinner for my stepson's 18th birthday. For the birthday meal he and his friends had mussels again "because they were so good last time". 3 of us had the chicken, which was tender and tasty. The margaritas drinks were all good and the puddings hit the sweet spot! Again the staff were brilliant and laid on a birthday dessert with candle and song. It was a brilliant night and I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Great food, good ambience, fabulous location and professional staff. EXCELLENT. As an added surprise as the sun went down on the horizon the restaurant played a song by Queen and almost everyone went to photograph the sunset and sing along/dance. Great atmosphere.
Paul Weston — Google review
First and foremost, the food is superb. Secondly the sunset view is spectacular, in addition, I loved the way they celebrated the sunset. It's worth going just for that. From the outside, this place doesn't look much but get in there and if you want a table closer to the beach make sure you bring sun screen!

Top cuisine by a known catalan chef. I highly recommend this place for: 1) High quality seafood 2) Amazing entrees (croquetas and bombas) 3) Creative and tasty deserts. Recommended for a special occasion since you'll pay for the quality, name and unique spot!

Best restaurant on the island, amazing sunset location and great quality of food and service from the staff. The food is delicious and it’s probably the most affordable place out of all. Highly recommend the mussels 👌

Restaurant by the water from Catalan chef Nandu Jubany. The terrace is located in the back with direct view on the sea, and a large shaded section plus a few seats by the sea without shade (only parasols). The atmosphere is super nice and relaxing, and there was always a light breeze. The service was good and friendly. We had starters, a paella as main and a shared dessert. The food was excellent, and you can see that the ingredients were of quality. Would definitely recommend!

Great restaurant right near the rocks. Friendly service, excellent food and good wine. Although, the music was a little bit too much Chris Martin and lacked a little bit authenticity

Our favorite restaurant of the trip, amazing view of the sunset right on the beach, great service, music & atmosphere and really good food! Will definitely be coming back :)

Truly the best restaurant I've been in Formentera. First of all it offers a beautiful view, especially during the sunset, so I would have gone there just for this. We ordered the menu (that was around 55/person) and a small sangria (which is 1 litre!). First thing I noticed is that the staff is incredibly organised and extremely nice. We had uncomfortable chairs and they immediately changed them. The food was unbelievable: an explosion of flavours all around your mouth. I particularly liked the most the fish tartare and the rice, I think both were the best I've ever tried. The sangria was good and actually made with a bottled wine of your choice. We asked if it was possible to change the dessert from the menu with another one, they asked the owner/manger and it was fine. By the way, the dessert was perfect! I think this is how a restaurant works! Totally worth going again.

If you're looking for an Italian restaurant with a really authentic wood-fired pizza oven, Macondo is the place for you. The pizzas are huge and tasty, and there's a lot of variety on the menu. Plus, they do catering too!

Very good quality pizza and generous portions! The service is quick. You need to leave a deposit if you want to book online so it’s better if you show up early and get on the list. The selection of the wine is a bit basic but the food compensates.
