Bridges
Mon Bridge, the longest wooden footbridge in Thailand, is a popular attraction in Sangkhla Buri. The village offers various nearby attractions such as the market and main temples within walking distance. For those interested in visiting Wat Wang Wiwekaram and Chedi Buddhakaya uphill, renting a motorbike is recommended. The town was established by Mon families fleeing Burma over 60 years ago, resulting in a diverse cultural mix of Karen, Mon, Thai, and Burmese residents.
This wooden bridge connects Sangkhlaburi village with the Mon village. It's a beautiful atmosphere. There are restaurants with a great view of the bridge scenery.

Enjoyed this place for a one night stay visit. Enjoyed the sunset views and also morning views, and enjoyed walking around the local markets and the walking street. There are local boat tours available but we didn't try that unfortunately. It would have been quite interesting.
Panida Da Ottesen — Google review
Off the normal tourist routes, this was a very attractive place to visit. A dam has flooded a valley, creating a large lake. A morning mist burns off early when the sun warms up, creating great views. A long boat ride on the lake is recommended.

Awesomely, so much to see and do. Takes a few days. Beautiful and great food and wonderful locals. We road motorcycles here from Pattaya.

Auttamanusorn Wooden Bridge (Wooden Mon Bridge): The Mon Bridge, located in Sangkhla Buri, Kanchanaburi province, Thailand, is the longest wooden bridge in Thailand. It spans an impressive 850 meters across the Songkhalia River, connecting people on both sides of the river. Before the Mon Bridge was built, villagers used a makeshift bamboo raft bridge called the “One Baht Bridge,” where they collected a fee of 1 baht for crossing. Luang Por Uttama initiated the construction of this wooden bridge to provide villagers with an easier and cost-free way to travel across the river. The bridge was built between 1986 and 1987 using local materials and the voluntary help of villagers. It consists of hardwood planks and 60 pillars spaced 10 cubits apart to allow boats to pass through. The Mon Bridge holds great significance for the Mon people, symbolizing faith and friendship between Thai and Mon communities. It has been repaired several times to ensure its safety and functionality. The most recent repair occurred in 2013 after heavy rains caused part of the bridge to collapse

Arrived here after visiting Erewan National Park, roads leading here well built but single lane and full of hills and corners. Prices extraordinarily cheap here. We bought Fruit juice 10 baht, that the same juice sold in Bangkok 30 bahts. People are very welcoming, they smile and greet you. The wooden bridge quiet a sight. People except rain here anytime. You will see umbrellas on bicycles. There is boat ride can take you to Wot Somdet, Underwater Temple, not possible to go these places by car. Other interesting things to see Mon Village, that has market, Songkalia which is next to Mon Bridge. It is especially good in the morning around 6 am when there is fog over the bridge giving you perfect opportunity to take photos We stayed one a boat overlooking the bridge which an easy walk to bridge.

We came to Sangkhlaburi to see Thailand 's longest wooden bridge, Mon bridge. Having seen the longest wooden bridge in the world on Myanmar (U Bein Bridge), this wooden bridge is very similar structure designed and just as beautiful. To best capture the beauty of this bridge is best during either sunset. A lot of visitors will gather on the bridge to capture the sunset, but for a good photograph shot, it's best taken picture by the pier to have the bridge and sunset on the backdrop.

Beautiful views at sunset &sunrise, 24 hours open. You can join Mon tradition “give alms to a Buddhist monk” at the morning (6.00 am.).

Can see the lovely culture & atmosphere at the Mon village which shares the culture of Myanmar. The food here is more like Myanmar food but here is more into a fusion.

Amazing bridge. The biggest wooden bridge in Thailand and the second biggest wooden bridge in the world. And this bridge was in "The Creator" movie. Must visit place!!
Istvan Somogyi — Google review
Beautiful place where you can enjoy sun rise while you walk on the bridge. You have to come here early from 6.00 to 7.00 AM becasue the morning market will start closing at 9.00 AM and the weather will be hotter. The other good thing beside the market is the people. Locals and natives here are charming especially the children. There are also nice hotels nearby where you can walk to the bridge. Spend a night here and go to the night market and wake up early to go to the bridge is a good idea. Mon bridge is the reason you come to Sangkhla Buri.

Recommend going during not a public holiday to avoid crowded. A foodshop opposite is good as well

Awesome experience, located at Sangkhlaburi in Kanchanaburi Thailand. About 180km drive from the main Kanchanaburi area. Good views driving to the bridge, some parts of the routes do not have street lights. Arrive at the Mon bridge, about 800 meters long in fairly good shape. At the end is a small market selling stuff made by the locals. Modest rooms for rent available in that area. The river below is the Songaria river, spectacular views from the bridge. Be careful if you are walking children on the bridge.
Ramg Work — Google review
Beautiful and quiet place. Historical bridge. Enjoy the view. There is a possibility to take a boat tour from here to the lake and old monastery.

Longest wooden bridge in Kanjanaburi. Dress up in Thai clothing and give alms to the monks in the morning. Not a lot of western people go and they are missing out.

The wooden Mon-bridge in Sangkhlaburi - 850 meters long - is not only a functional structure, but also a scenic attraction and a spiritual site. The bridge offers a stunning view of the reservoir, the surrounding mountains and the sunrise or sunset. The bridge is also a popular place for Buddhist monks to collect alms and for locals and visitors to make merit by offering food and flowers The Mon bridge is a remarkable example of human ingenuity and cultural diversity. It is a testament to the Mon people’s skill, perseverance and creativity in building a bridge that unites a town. It is also a source of pride and identity for the people of Sangkhlaburi, who cherish their unique heritage and welcome visitors to experience their way of life.

Nature & Parks
Khao Laem National Park is a verdant park with an extensive reservoir that boasts picturesque hiking trails and campsites. It is situated in the Amazon countryside, where visitors can explore nature roads and admire waterfalls without any signage. The area is also home to various wildlife, including snakes, and fishing villages floating on the river. If you opt to hitchhike, it's necessary to ensure balance by offering a ride back someday.
I love the serene atmosphere that this area provides. The calm water and gentle breeze have won us over. It was a bit of a drive to get here but the energy we got was unmatched. The area is looked after well. The camping ground is clean and not crowded at all.
Tom Kitbumrung — Google review
We stopped to camp over night and were very happy. Very clean compared to other national parks. Right on the road so there was no travel time to get anywhere. Camped right on the river which was fun for playing in the cold water. It's only 5m wide and thigh deep at most where we were there so great for kids. Food and drinks available during daylight hours and really cheap for everything. Tickets get you into both parts of the park with the lake sunset view or the river part. 4 person family was 6USD for the night to camp with our tents. Rangers on site all night and very safe feeling here with lovely views
Thai Traveller — Google review
One of my favorite National Parks in Thailand. Great campsites and nice lake ti watch the sunset. There is no need to bring a tent and other camping gear, the National Park has everything for rent. The fee is more expensive for foreigners compared to Thais which I don't normally agree with this rule but I think for this National Park it is totally worth it. They also have restaurant inside the park, real authentic thai food and very hot (spicy).

Amazon countryside with waterfalls and nature roads without any signs . You can see snakes even on the roads and fishing village floating on the river and much more nature experiences if you step off you bike and just go to discover yourself and the area. Oh yes and sometime people give you a ride when you hitchhiking but the other day you must give it back to someone to keep the balance!

It's a great place to camp against the backdrop of the lake, and it's hot during the day, but there's a cool breeze after 8 p.m.

We used to be able to drive right up to the helicopter pad where the white observation post is located. Unfortunately now, to get to the observation post, you need to trek a significant distance up and down steep inclines to get to that spot. While a moderate challenge when without any equipment, making the trek with professional photography equipment makes it a perilous trek that’s made even more challenging with the heat. Guess I’ll be giving this a miss from now on. Pity. It’s one of the few interesting places Rayong has to offer.

Wat Wang Wiwekaram is a revered Buddhist temple in Sangkhla Buri, serving as a spiritual center for the Mon people. This temple complex stands out with its unique architecture and artistic style, distinguishing it from other temples in Bangkok. The annual Songkran Festival held here is an exceptional event where bamboo water spouts are used to pour water on monks instead of directly dousing them.
If you are interested in Mon style architecture and the Mon people, then Wat Wang Wiwekaram is a great place to visit. It is a beautiful and peaceful temple that is full of history and culture. You can distinguish the Mon style from the Thai- or Ayuthaya style by comparing the shape, size, and decoration of the pagodas or stupas. The Mon pagodas tend to be more slender and taller than the Thai ones, and they often have a lotus-shaped finial at the top. The Mon pagodas also have more elaborate carvings and sculptures on their walls and niches, while the Thai pagodas are plain. This temple is the spiritual center of the Mon people in Thailand and is dedicated to Luang Pho Uttama, a revered monk who was born in Myanmar and died in 1983. The temple was built in 1953 by Luang Pho Uttama and a group of Karen and Mon immigrants. It is a large complex that includes a main Buddha image, a museum, and a library. Wat Wang Wiwekaram is a popular tourist destination and is especially busy during the annual Mon Festival, which is held in February. The temple is also a popular place for Thai people to come to pray and seek blessings from Luang Pho Uttama.

Better to visit once in life time! Architecture is different from other temples in Bangkok. Surprisingly artistic style.

One of the highlights of Mon Community's Songkran Festival at Sangkhla Buri is using bamboo water spouts for pouring water on monks instead of pouring water on them directly. The traditional ceremony will happen on 17th April every year. I had a chance to be there 2 years in a row. Very impressive. #watwangwiwekaram #buddhakayapagoda #songkranfestival #montraditionalsongkranfestival #sangkhlaburi #thongphaphum #kanchanaburi

Beautiful temple complex in Sangkhlaburi formerly led by the revered late Luang Phor Uttama.

Complex of multiple temples close to each other. This is not Thai style so you can feel a little bit of Nepal in Thailand. Not the coolest thing I have ever seen, but it's close to Chedi Phutthakhaya. So if you are already close to the place, pay a visit also to this temple complex.

What do we get when you mix Mon and Thai architecture in one place and here we are. I just love the decal from the inside and the out side of this temple.

Three Pagodas Pass is a historic mountain pass located on the Myanmar-Thai border in Sangkhla Buri. It is known for its three Buddhist stupas and offers tourists the opportunity to obtain a one-day visa to enter Burma. The area is rich in history, with ties to Thailand, Myanmar, and Japan's construction of the railroad during WWII. While the location itself may not be very inspiring, there are some restaurants and coffee shops in the small town nearby.
A long drive to get to the Mymar border crossing, but some amazing scenery on the way. The border market also offers some great bargains.
Martin Egglesfield — Google review
The Three Pagoda Pass is a land border crossing between Thailand and Myanmar and is named after the three pagodas that are located on the Thai side of the border. The Three Pagoda Pass has been an important trade route for centuries. It was used by the ancient Khmer Empire, and later by the Burmese and Thai kingdoms. These pagodas are said to have been built in the 11th century by King Anawratha of Pagan. The Three Pagoda Pass is a popular tourist destination, however, the border crossing is not open to foreigners. The site is good for a nice stroll. Very close is a nice market and various options for a decent cup of coffee.

Historic area with a lot of shops. Free Parking is available nearby. What I love is there are also lots of natural attraction nearby.

This place was great! It is full of history and mystery. I loved learning about the history of Thailand, Myanmar, and even Japan constructing its railroad thru Thailand and Burma back in WWII. As usual, people was very nice, food was great, and sight-seen/photo-ops were in abundance. We could not cross to Myanmar that day because of some issues in the border at the moment. But being so close was enough to have me wanting to go back!

Buddhist temple
After approximately 15 minutes, we reached the second destination, Wat Somdet temple, a Thai Buddhist temple situated on a hill. The journey involved a brief walk uphill for less than 10 minutes, enduring swarms of mosquitos. This particular temple captivated us with its charming entanglement within lush tropical trees and an ambiance reminiscent of the Angkor Wat complex. It remains an unfinished structure left by a deceased abbot, which surprisingly adds to its allure.
Worth a visit but only if you want to pray at the temple. Not much really here, just a stop on the boat tour. Good for some photos and taking in the peaceful nature of the place. There are a lot of steps to climb up there and it's not maintained well.

An unfinished temple left behind by a deceased abbot. Its incompleteness, however, turns out to be its appeal. Hundreds of tourists must take a boat to arrive at this place and pile up stones believing that if the stones are to be stacked up to 9 pieces, blessings will be showered upon them.
