The New Rendezvous is a well-established Chinese restaurant that offers an extensive menu of Cantonese dishes, including a variety of seafood options. The venue has been running for a long time and prides itself on delivering high-quality food and exceptional service. The aim of the restaurant is to consistently provide an amazing dining experience by offering delicious meals, a good wine selection, and friendly and attentive staff. Customers can enjoy their meals in a spacious setting with tables placed at appropriate distances.
My friend and I shared a delicious meal last night at this restaurant. We had the Rendezvous Banquet for two and the food was superb. The service was excellent too and I was relieved to find the tables at a good distance and a request to wear a mask when entering the restaurant. A very enjoyable experience.

Takeaway order was delicious. Venue looked great on collection. Will definitely visit for a sit down soon.

Had an absolutely lovely meal here, can't recommend it enough. The staff were so lovely and couldn't do enough for us, they really looked after us. Had lots of vegetarian options on the menu, such as salt and pepper mushrooms and tofu dishes. The restaurant was lovely, decorated nicely and had a warm family feeling inside.

First time in a Chinese restaurant in a few years ... and The New Rendezvous made it worth the wait. The set meal banquet we had (between four people) was excellent, the wine selection was good and the friendly, attentive staff made this a great evening out with friends. Looking forward to returning soon. 👍🏻

First time ordering and we did not regret it! Best Chinese I’ve ever had and it’s right on the doorstep, everything was beautiful. We ordered a variety and every dish was amazing, we will definitely be coming back for more!

A group of 11 of us, no where near enough food, very rude staff, near enough shouted at us while he took our orders. Bad service and very overpriced for the minuscule amount of food we had
Mark Atherton — Google review
Asked if myself and partner could eat a main with rice each, considering he had a fish based meal and I had a chicken one, thought twice thinking possibly it too much, nope went home hungry as I couldn’t eat fish based rice with my chicken dish, won’t be going back
County Durham Shopper — Google review
Superb takeaway. We ordered it and it was delivered promptly. The food was delicious ( probably the best I've ever had) There was excellent communication and the lady delivering the , phoned as she approached the house to clarify the directions( it's a new estate) Will use again
Roger Boyle — Google review
Enjoyed the food. Prices are high but the quality of the food is amazing so I think the prices are reasonable for what you get. Not just your usual Chinese restaurant options (including lots of seafood options) which is nice. Service was good but I dont like the 10% service charge being added to the bill. I want to have the option to tip as and when I want and dont like restuarants who automatically add a service charge. I think lots of people probably just pay it as they feel awkward asking for it to be removed but this would make me think twice about coming here again which is a shame as the food is really good

The attentive and helpful staff at Mambos Ponteland made a positive impression by promptly taking our booking and being aware of our arrival. Despite being busy, they had a table ready for us. Unlike many restaurants in the UK, they proactively offered water before presenting the menu. Speaking of which, the menu was excellent with a variety of options including lobster, mussels, chicken, and King prawns in a delicious lobster bisque.
Visited with a group of friends. Friendly upon entering and very nice interior. Ordered the garlic bread for starter, so cheesy and flavoursome and quite good for sharing while the wait for mains. Food took an average time to come out. I ordered the steak surf and turf. It did not disappoint a VERY large portion and steak cooked to perfection! The sauce was one of the nicest I’ve had but I felt the fries were just unnecessary (but delicious.) Others on the table ordered salmon, pizza etc it looked lovely and a standard size pizza. For dessert I opted for the sticky toffee pudding, again delicious lots of sauce on the pudding which I always prefer too, this restaurant is definitely not stingy on portion sizes and there’s something for everybody’s taste buds. Nobody on the table drank alcoholic drinks but I did get a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri which I don’t think is stated in the menu but they are more than happy to make. Service was attentive coming round plenty of times asking how we were. 100% my favourite restaurant in ncl BUT be aware parking is NOT good. You get 2 hours in the Waitrose car park but our 3 course experience lasted just over. There is also some street parking but may mean a short walk.

What an absolute gem of a place this is. We moved to Northumberland earlier this year and hadn't had time to explore much or find places to eat. Overjoyed to discover Mambo's! Staff are friendly, service is spot on, and the food is unbelievably good.
Oliver Hague — Google review
Delicious food and prompt service at the start of the meal when the restaurant was quiet. Later on, it was full with people waiting and our desserts took rather too long to appear and appeared about 5 minutes after the coffees instead of at the same time. However, overall we liked it and would go again.

It's a very good eating experience you can see why it's a busy restaurant, the staff is very professional and make sure you have the best possible experience, the food is very well presented and enjoyed by all, definitely worth a visit

We went New Years Eve. The restaurant was very busy but managed really well. Service was quick and attentive. The food was amazing as always. It was hot and well presented. The taste was excellent. We were a party of 4. Two of the party had the lamb tagine, the lamb fell apart, no need for a knife and the dish was full of flavour. The other two had steak, prawns and mussels. The steak was cooked to perfection and the seafood was delicious. Will definitely book again! The restaurant is easily accessible to all.

We had a lovely evening, the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Their chicken version of 'Surf and Turf' was amazing. We had gorgeous cocktails too. Will definitely go back.
Lynn Tilley — Google review
Helpful attentive team who took our booking knew who we were when we turned up and despite being extremely busy had our table all ready. Offered us water before menu an action sadly lacking in many a uk restaurant. Menu was excellent and the choice of lobster, mussels, chicken, King prawns in a lobster bisque with a choice if a side was not only well cooked and presented but good value compared to other allegedly quality restaurants I have eaten at. My wife's choice of lamb tagine was also excellent. Reasonably choice of wine and drinks though not cheap but in line with restaurant prices. Atmosphere was very positive with an eclectic range of customers. Large car park next to it that belongs to supermarket. Will be back.

My daughter flew up from Bristol to celebrate Mothers Day. I suggested Mambos (wish I hadn’t) ??…Arrived early so had a drink then waited forever to be served? Starter was anaemic with no flavour the main was awful, my daughter ordered the Pailland and she asked how to pronounce it, the waiter was so rude in his response?….It was chicken and arrived looking like a huge white fat sausage not sure what part of a chicken that was? Her salad was just a bag of Frisée lettuce no dressing nothing else? I had seafood linguine scorching in part cold in others ☹️? Microwaved??? No one came to ask how the meal was or if we needed anything, we were totally neglected and it wasn’t even busy? The whole experience was awful. Used to be so lovely there but think they’re living on their reputation!! Won’t last long if they continue like that after all going out is a treat.. cost £80+ too!! Very disappointed .

When it comes to ordering food, I usually prefer fast delivery. Haveli excels in this aspect and offers the finest traditional Indian cuisine in Newcastle. The flavors of their dishes make you feel like you're dining in the actual restaurant. Although the prices might initially seem high, the quality of the food justifies every penny spent. This restaurant is a must-try if you're seeking swift delivery of fresh and piping hot meals.
Went for a family celebration. Hadn't been for quite a while. We had a great night. The place looks brand new inside and very clean. Service was excellent and so was the food. Very reasonable prices too. Will be back again soon.
Simon Rowland (StarManAstro) — Google review
I recently dined at Haveli Restaurant and had a fantastic experience. The Indian cuisine they serve is top-notch, and the quality of the food was outstanding. The flavors were rich and authentic, and I particularly enjoyed Lamb Chops. The ambiance was pleasant, and the staff provided excellent service. I highly recommend Haveli for a delightful Indian dining experience.

I was Delighted to see that Haveli at Darras Hall had opened again after the strife of the past 2 years so I went along there to re-experience Their wonderful food and 5 Star service . I am now looking forward to regular visits to Haveli , a Restaurant that ticks all of the boxes for me and is without any doubt a lovely dining experience in a great location . Thank You All at Haveli , See You next Weekend johnny

Four of us dined here in April 2023 and it was so good my husband and I are going back for our wedding anniversary at the end of May. The service wasn't super fast but that was good as I never like to feel rushed. The food was delicious and I can highly recommend. Reasonably priced too.
Louise Allen — Google review
My wife and I went to a valentine's evening at Haveli Ponteland last night. On arrival my wife and I were given a glass of prosecco each on arrival and my wife got a red rose. There was a special valentine tasting menu. The food was fantastic and my wife and I ate and enjoyed everything on the menu, of which there was 4 courses. My wife really enjoyed the wine selection, there was a choice of low alcohol wines which she thoroughly enjoyed. Haveli have just been awarded a prestigious Michelin BIB award. The service was fantastic with nothing too much for the friendly staff. We will be going again and I would advise anybody that lives locally or are in the area to go along and eat there. A 5 star evening.

An underwhelming experience. We booked online and we were invited to pre-book our meal. When we arrived we were shown to our table but the service was PAINFULLY slow Everyone of the staff members were very pleasant, but very slow. The mixed platter was tasty , but it took a long time for the main courses to arrive (a prawn Karachi & Rogan Josh) The prawns were tasty , but the lamb was underseasoned We decided not to have coffee or dessert, but there was another delay as they couldn't print the bill!! Again there was a delay when I paid by credit card. I'm not sure if there was just an IT problem, but there seemed to be long delays throughout the night. I felt that a 2 course meal , with 2 non alcohol beers and 11/2 pints of lager was expensive ( almost £110) Nice surroundings, very pleasant staff, but I can't understand the Michelin recommendation
Roger Boyle — Google review
Usually when I order food, I prefer to have it delivered quickly. Haveli does that on point and has the best authentic Indian cuisine I have ever had in Newcastle. The food tastes like you are having it in the restaurant itself. Initially, it seemed the food's expensive but after having it, I realised it was worth the money. A must try restaurant if you are looking for fresh and hot food delivered at your place quickly.

Amazing restaurant. Very friendly staff and amazing food. Would seriously recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening of dining. Ideal for a date, business meal or just wanting a take a way. Can't recommend enough. Thank you for making my dining experience pleasurable and memorable. Will definitely be back more. Must have been a dozen times already.

disappointing food. Lacked flavour and spice despite asking for extra. The Currys were too watery for my taste. Lamb chops were an excellent bit of meat but again lacking flavour The service was great, and the decor nice but you can find a better curry elsewhere.
Naik Singh — Google review
I regret to express my dissatisfaction with the taste of the product, despite the distinct appearances of the dishes, there was a noticeable lack of variation in taste. This similarity was unexpected and could be disappointing for those anticipating diverse flavors. Individuals seeking an authentic Indian culinary experience may find themselves let down.
Jithin Mathew — Google review
Our suspicions started when the restaurant was less than half full on a Saturday evening. The service was appalling, we waited over 40 min for starters and only compensated with replenished popadoms with no dips offered. We waited 15min for drinks and when it finally arrived, we had to send the cocktail back to be remade because it was bland. A fresh cocktail was not made. When the cocktail returned, it contained less contents than what was sent back. We had to ask for more drinks whilst 4-5 staff stood vacantly staring into space around the restaurant. The food was average and not worth £45pp. Reading other comments my understanding this place has collapsed since new ownership and become a distance memory of a good place to eat.
james farwell — Google review
Highly recommended. Polite and helpful staff (although one waiter hung too close a little too much, but was new and still learning). A small range of menu items - in their case this is not a weakness! The dishes are well judged, meat used was great quality. Very flavourful.

Amazing lamb rack starter, then we had a prawn and chicken dish which were both very flavoursome. Would highly recommend and the staff were very helpful and friendly too.

Number9 Bistro was established with two main objectives: to bring top-notch local and nationally sourced ingredients and to cater to the people of Darras Hall and Ponteland by offering a superior dining experience. The cuisine at Number9 Bistro was delicious; however, some customers felt that the prices were slightly high considering the portion sizes. On a positive note, the interior ambiance was pleasant, accompanied by an enjoyable playlist, and the restroom facilities were well-maintained.
Lovely little bistro cafe. Parking outside. The interior is very classy and comfortable. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced. The staff are really lovely and friendly.

The food at number9 bistro was tasty, however I did think it was a little overpriced given the portion size. The atmosphere inside was good, with good songs playing, and the toilet was nice and clean. Parking here is very easy. We arrived on a Sunday and had the Sunday lunch as that is all they were serving, which wasn't clear from looking on the website in advance. It's something to note if you are going on a Sunday, but it was very good so I'm glad I had it.

Met here as a half-way meeting place for lunch with friend. A good range of food, value for money, attentive friendly staff, prompt service but didn't feel rushed. Will choose here again.

The food was delicious and service was extremely good as well! Emma was serving on her own when it was very busy and yet didn’t fail to provide excellent service! We’ll be back again! 100% recommend.

Unfortunately Number 9 has gone downhill. Pleasant staff but food service is slow. Food is reasonable but higher price than the rest of the village. Toilets need a lot of work with broken sinks and cisterns with leaks and wet floors. I hope it gets back to it's better days.

Popped in for breakfast (eggs Benedict) last week, food & coffee was excellent! First time had eaten in for a while, have had numerous take out coffees (and Sunday lunches too in lockdowns) and was not disappointed. Place was very busy but service was still attentive and really good friendly atmosphere. Will be back again soon!

The food was absolutely delicious, we ordered some of their new menu items and we weren’t disappointed! Highly recommend the braised pork belly. To top it off, the staff were so welcoming and friendly.

Had a very well presented Sunday roast here. Overall very happy with the experience and we’ll definitely be coming back. Few warnings: we went when it was cold/snowing outside. If you sit by the windows you get a very cold draft. Dinner took a while as there were many people ordering simultaneously, but the staff warned us in advance about this and apologised. The restaurant is a lot smaller than expected so you’ll definitely have to book in advance.

Italian restaurant
Ristorante Fratelli is a contemporary Italian dining room with an outdoor terrace and cocktail specials. Unfortunately, a citywide power outage prevented the customer from placing their mains order, but they enjoyed the delicious meatball appetizer and drinks. The service was exceptional, as the staff kept them informed and even provided a carton of milk for their baby when the local supermarket was also affected by the outage. This lovely place has friendly people and an impressive menu for mains.
Went as part of a large group for lunch on a Saturday. Service was so quick and the food was very tasty. Prices were reasonable for what we got, I'd put it in the "let's go somewhere nice for a treat" bracket. Parking is free but don't forget to add your registration number on the tablet at the bar, otherwise you'll get fined by the cameras operating at the supermarket carpark. Would go again, food was excellent.

Power went out before we could put in our mains order due to some citywide glitch, but our meatball appetizer was delicious and so were our drinks. Service was fantastic. They kept us informed and ultimately they even gave us a carton of milk to take for the baby since the Sainsbury's power was out and we weren't going to be able to pick any up for her like we planned. Lovely place with lovely people! The menu for mains looked amazing so hopefully on our next trip to the North we'll be able to stop by again and eat more.

It has been a long time since I was last at Fratelli we called in on the hope of getting a table. The staff were very accommodating and found us a table. The food was very good. I would have given a five star review if it had not been an added service charge on the bill I believe that giving a tip is discretionary and should not be on the bill

Visited here a few times, most recently for my birthday which I was surprised at the end by my boyfriends rearrangement for the staff to sing happy birthday for me. The food as always is gorgeous, the lasagna is beautiful! One of the best I’ve had however this time I chose a chicken dish which again was absolutely beautiful. We come here as they are able to cater for gluten free which is hard to come by!

Driving back to Newcastle Airport for Southampton, stopped for lunch with our friends. Service, food and drinks excellent. Definitely stop again next time. Highly Recommended.
Shirley Hibbs — Google review
Poor service and rude head waiter. We booked Sunday lunch and were initially told it was all available. Then the head waiter comes over and tells us it’s all off now - this is at 4pm. So we were stuck having to choose from the main menu. The staff were incessant with trying to take drinks orders quickly. I told them about 3x we weren’t ready. The head waiter spoke really rudely to my father when we were ordering. My steak was advertised as including onion rings - but they were missed off. When they brought them after I pointed this out they arrived all burned and incinerated. To cap it off they take £20 deposit when you book and then have the temerity to add the service charge onto the bill. Dreadful service.
Victoria Spooner — Google review
Visually a lovely place to eat, staff were attentive and pleasant and the cocktails were amazing. The food however was a different story. Calamari starter, cut too small so all you tasted was batter. Main course risotto, the worst I’ve ever had, no seasoning, stock or flavour, white rice and seafood. My husband had lasagne, he said it tasted like a ready meal from a supermarket. Other members of the party weren’t impressed either with their choices but said they were ok and we left disappointed. The people on the next table had pizzas which looked really good, so maybe a good place to go for pizza.

Had our tea here tonight and was really nice and fully enjoyed it. We looked on the website before coming to see the happy hour was £11 but was charged more when the bill arrived and was advised the website had not been updated but because the food was lovely we are not complaining just pointing this out. Thankyou.

3 sat. Lunch menu looked promising. Tortellini ok but could do with more filling. Scallop’ Milanese was dry with no spag sugo. Fries ok. The peas with the fish and chips were delicious. The fish and chips however were a serious disappointment. Soggy like heated in a microwave from frozen. I should have sent it back. The interior and decor is stunning. Service first class. Chocolate fudge was excellent. So a mixed experience. A la carte may be better.

Great Italian place. I’ve been s a few times now and never been dissatisfied. It’s a very unassuming place from the outside with it being next to Sainsbury’s. But don’t let that put you off. Inside is very spacious and tastefully decorated. The bar is stocked with a good range of beers and the wine list is very extensive. I definitely recommend a visit if in the area.
