Udipi Sri Krishna Vilas, a renowned eatery in Chidambaram, is known for its delectable meals served on traditional plantain leaves. This popular and longstanding hotel offers a variety of tiffins with an authentic taste. Notably, their masala dosa is highly recommended. Operating until 9:30 pm, this establishment avoids using garlic or small onions in their dishes.
Food here is always same as when I tasted as child here.. Traditional place hygiene food pongal vadai signature dish with steaming filter coffee as combo

The morning tiffin & coffee was delicious. Their hospitality was something which is rare nowadays. I'll recommend this eatery for anyone who visits/cross Chidambaram. Wonderful experience.

Wow, what a taste. We had Coffee, Pongal, Medu Vada, Badam Halwa, Tomato Thokku Dosa and Poori. Tomato dosa Was little sour, kilangu which they gave for Poori was little bland. All other foods are great. They also had carrot halwa, Kasi halwa and some other sweets, but did not try.
Vinoth Muthiah Sekhar — Google review
The food is good, ambiance gives a vintage feel. Having been going here for almost 15 years food taste has not changed much.

Good food with decades of lagacy but subpar ambience. Better to get parcel.

Authentic rustic mess to have a wonderful breakfast!! The place is bit inside from the road so easy to miss, lookout for the small board that says "Tiffen Ready" / "Meals Ready". Ample space in road for car parking! The food is vera level!! We had a ghee roast, rava dosa and poori! Dosas were crisp, piping hot and the chutney sambar were out of the world! Poori and aaloo masal were awesome! Then comes the grand finale filter coffee, the best South Indian filter coffee!! Sorry I didn't have the patience to take photos of the food, cause they were too tempting and hot, not to dive in straight was a serious mistake 🤣🙏🏻

Worst ever hospitatlity. I would rather provide no star for hospitality. I informed them about 40 people will come for lunch well in advance (4 days back) but they were so lethargic and they concentrate only on online food delivery and they didnt concentrate for dine-in peoples. They have only 3 people for preparing food and serving and most of the time they were looking at online order alone. When queried about this, they didnt respond well. I will never suggest this place for dine-in.

15 August, 2023. Visited on Weekday (Long 4 day Vacation), No-wait Time, No-Reservation needed, Dinner This is one of the oldest restaurants in Chidambaram running successfully for 3 Generations. The food they offer is very home-made like, fresh and so good. We had Podi Uthappam Ghee Roast Podi Roast Onion Roast Badam Milk - Rs.45 Rose Milk - Rs.45 It was one of the most delicious food I have ever tasted in a restaurant so far. It was really really really good. Podi Uthappam had a entire full layer of good amount of podi with good oil combo. It was the perfect food with perfect taste. The Orange chatni given was out of this world, very mouth watery, refreshing & FINGER-LICKING-GOOD. Ghee Roast was a very special coz of the high quality made Ghee. The ghee was very homemade-like and it was so so good. Badam Milk and Rose Milk was also in-house and the padam milk is literally full of padam. Both had perfect flavors and blended so well. This Place is a MUST TRY.

It's an antique bramin pure vegetarian restaurant in chidambaram, sambar rice is not good but rest of all curd rice and tamarind is tasty .

Go there if you look for authentic good old fashioned vegetarian Udupi cuisine. I was there for breakfast and dinner. I suggest Adai Aviayal and Idli - Kothsu. Did not try their lunch

Meals was good... Taste like home food..., more over its a budget hotel with good and tastey food , you will be getting here.. Location wise it's a located in center of the city... You can't park your 4 wheelers coz they don't have parking spaces for 4 Wheeler's... Toilets should be taken care, it's not maintained properly... Serving the food needs to be improved... Over all its good for veg lovers....

Udipi Sri Krishna Vilas popular and one of the oldest hotel in Chidambaram. They serve all tiffins in traditional plantain leaf with a very good taste. You must try masala dosa here. They open till night 9:30. Excellent part is that they don't put small onion aka garlic in any item. I recommend Udipi Sri Krishna Vilas for your tiffins option

Great place to have lip smacking food. If you're in the vicinity, looking for some good food - This is your place. Tends to be crowded during peak hours.

The place was nice service was bit slow but can be ignored. Food taste was good. Ambience was also good. Try Crispy corn in this place.

One of a good place to have family dinners! Ambience was good. Food could be better comparing with price range which is slightly on the pricier side. This definitely is the best choice restaurant for tourists but not ideal for local’s!

Very friendly and kind service. All staffs are really helpful. Must go to shop for sweets and food. Yummy 🤤 panner soda and mini meals.

We visited Chidambaram in November 2022. This restaurant is in walkable distance from Nataraja's temple. The place was simple and sweet. There were numerous options in the menu. We stayed there for two days and tried different items every time and the taste never disappointed us. My 5-year old also liked the yummy food. On the last visit, we mentioned it's our anniversary. The whole staff treated us with great warmth and created a little cake from a dessert. We were overwhelmed by their hospitality.

Good breakfast. Quality is authentic. Being in front of the famous temple and in a brahmin locale, you get the real feel of brahmin food. Filter coffee is top notch.

Price is high , service is well maintained , taste of the dish is outstanding my suggestion is to maintain Order management (served me different dish ) Water management ( more people water dryout) Othere than this staff is humble and more different varieties in the menu and with good taste that is the highlight

Great vegetarian restaurant in Chidambaram. We were roaming around the main temple looking for a good place to eat, when some localite suggested us to go to this place. We did, and we were not disappointed as the food and service here was excellent. Good options in the menu. We ordered Paneer Biryani and it was very flavourful and tasted great. Punjabi thali was great too, with Tandoori roti made of wheat for those looking for good North Indian food. Though Paneer was a bit on the sweeter side, rest of the things tasted good. Overall, we liked the food here, and will recommend to those who come to Chidambaram to try this place.

Went with family for dinner. If u r looking for a multi cuisine restaurant in a small town, then this is the choice. Clean and nice. Located in heart of temple town. They have lot of varieties, little expensive. Charging equivalent to cities like bangalore and chennai. Had Gobi Manchurian, idly and chola poori. Taste wise good. Various chutney provided for idly. Chola poori is made of atta (not with maida) , so it is little harder to eat. Tastes as like poori. People working here are good. They help u whatever you want. Before to chidambaram temple , someone was issuing pamphlets for advertising. Not sure why it is required. If people knows real value, then they definitely come. They accept card, upi too. Even asked auto driver , everyone suggests other restaurants, but not this.

We stopped here randomly when we were returning back to Chennai from our temple trip. I ordered Chidambaram meals and I can’t say enough how good it was. One of the amazing meals I have had in my life . Simple but mouth watering. Extremely polite and kind waters who kept serving us more food without even us asking . Hope your restaurant reached many hearts and tummies ❤️

Ordered Biriyani, Chicken Tandoori and Prawn Thokku. The chicken and Prawns were fresh and well cooked, juicy and tender. But don't go for the Biriyani. It is more of a Mutton Puliotharai with fried pieces mixed. Service was very good.

Hotel Akshaya exceeded expectations with its pleasant stay. The bathroom was immaculate, bedsheets were crisp, and the room felt snug and inviting. The air conditioning and television worked flawlessly, ensuring comfort throughout. Its proximity to the temple is a major advantage, accompanied by ample parking space and an A2B restaurant conveniently located below for meals. Although the non-AC room lacked adequate cooling due to hot weather, a requested additional fan resolved the issue promptly.
Without any expectations I happened to stay here in Hotel Akshaya ! Surprisingly it turned out so good of an experience. The bathroom was super clean, the bedsheets were fresh, the air conditioner and the television were working properly and overall the room was so cozy and comfortable during my stay. If only I could visit Chidambaram again, this place would be my first choice to stay !
SUBA SHREE — Google review
Place is very near to temple so that's a great plus. Decent parking space and you have a A2B just below for food. Rooms were good we got a non AC room but the fan was inadequate due to hot weather. We requested an additional fan and it was provided which really helped. Good staff and service. You can definitely stay here.
Harihara Balasubramaniam — Google review
Paid 3300 INR for the room. Very tiny roon for the price. No one cleaned the room on next day stay, we stayed for three days and two nights. No toiletries. Top of it, the receptionist SUGANYA.. today during checkout, even after explaining her that extended time upto an hour was requested from my side , (as a tourist I can't wait for more than couple of hours at railway station), morning there was a different reception staff and they agreed for the extension. I was ready to pay and more over it wasn't a busy day as well. Many rooms were empty. This staff SUGANYA didn't coordinate with the staff or had a pinch of empathy to talk about the request. She was insisting to check out and at that moment I lost my cool. Hotel comes in service industry and the concept of service is missing. A2B restaurant downstairs is a big advantage and the only advantage. Disappointed with the staff behaviour.
Dr C — Google review
The hospitality and service received were excellent. The manager was cheerful and assisted us in promptly assigning our room, even though there was a mistake in the booking for the next day. However, there is room for improvement in the quality of the additional beds. They were infested with bugs, and I ended up with numerous insect bites on my hands. Another issue arose with the availability of hot drinks. We were informed that they would only be served after 7 a.m. when the restaurant opens, which posed a problem as my hungry kids were awake by 6 a.m.

After Renovation, this Hotel Rooms are Too Good..! We liked our Stay more Comfortable. A2B is in Ground Floor Offering Yummy Vegetarian Food. Few disadvantages Viz. No Room Service & No Breakfast Plan. Sometimes feeling like an Old Cultured Lodge..! Let's See...
SRINIVASAN COIMBATORE — Google review
When we were on our South Indian temple tour, our tour operator booked this hotel. It's walking distance to the temple, so convenient. Rooms are clean but washrooms are moderate. Watter was very slow, no hot water. Next to Ananda Bavan makes it easier to have decent, economical vegetarian food. It's ok for pilgrims but, maybe not that great for European or for US star traveler.
Raj Rajasri — Google review
I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at this hotel, and I must say, it was one of the most disappointing and frustrating stays I've ever had. From the moment I made the booking, things started to go downhill. The front office staff (Durga and Suganya) were incredibly rude and unhelpful, and it became evident that they had no intention of delivering on the promises they made before I made my payment. Before I arrived, I called the hotel to confirm certain amenities, and I was assured that everything I needed would be available. However, upon checking in, I quickly realized that these promises were empty words meant to secure a booking. The room I was given was nothing like the one I was shown in the pictures during the booking process. It was outdated, poorly maintained, and lacked even the most basic amenities that were supposed to be included. When I questioned the front desk about the discrepancies, they brushed me off with an attitude that can only be described as dismissive and disrespectful. They seemed completely disinterested in addressing my concerns and made it clear that they were not going to make any effort to rectify the situation. It felt like they had already gotten what they wanted – my money – and didn't care about providing the service they had advertised. To make matters worse, I had paid for certain additional services which were promised to be included in my stay, but when I inquired about them, the front office staff denied any knowledge of such offerings. It was as if I was being gaslighted. The frustration and disappointment I felt were overwhelming, and it truly ruined the entire purpose of my trip. I would strongly advise anyone considering staying at this hotel to think twice. The false information provided by the front office staff, along with their rude and unhelpful demeanor, made this a stay I would rather forget. I believe in honest and transparent business practices, and this hotel fell far short of those standards. My experience here was a painful lesson, and I hope my review serves as a warning to others.

This is not even capable for one star. They have good AND bad rooms, which is not at all right. We were given the last and the worst room. We were having our most worst experience in a hotel in hotel akshaya. Many people say that this is a good hotel, but it is not AT ALL. There is very little space for even a family of THREE. It had many flaws like stinking bathroom, no complimentary breakfast etc. The most important thing is the water is too salty to keep it in mouth for even two seconds. The only thing we liked about this hotel is that it is near to the temple. I WILL NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE IN MY LIFE.

Hotel is located very close to Chidambaram Natarajar temple. Sufficient parking facility was available. The stay was very expensive compared to the services they have provided. Following basic amenities were un-available (considering the price): 1. No complimentary breakfast 2. No water kettle or instant tea/coffee sachets

Reasonable price. Friendly Reception desk. Very close to Natarajs temple . Several vegetarian eateries nearby . Over all happy

Hotel Saradha Ram is a functional lodging establishment that offers basic accommodations. It also features two casual dining options, a bar, and complimentary parking facilities. Situated in the cosmically beautiful town of Chidambaram, this hotel provides an ideal stay option. Its strategic location reduces travel time and allows guests to have more leisure hours. During the festive season, the hotel becomes vibrant with cultural activities.
Located in the heart of the city, serving more than 35years the hotel and rooms are very well maintained. The room and bathroom were very tidy and big. The parking is also ample with guards safeguarding. The hotel has a lift as well as staircase. The children play area was well sufficient. There are both veg and non-veg restaurant. There is an ATM in the premises.

If you go to Chidambaram this is the place to stay. Had stayed there last week. The service was excellent. Staff was extremely cooperative. I reached much early than my check-in time due to my train schedule, they let us in the room without any trouble. Sincere thanks for making our trip comfortable.
Shiju George — Google review
It was a savior for me in the midnight to get a room here. Staff are really polite and helpful. But I would suggest the management to keep the bedsheets, room cupboards, table, bathroom stuff clean. It was not maintained and clean. There are stains on sofas, chair, bedsheets. Please improve. The best thing is its location. They have a restaurant where ghe food is okay okay but I was really upset when I got my dinner packed. Guys make it better.
Puspanjali Sarangi — Google review
The staff is so laid back with zero responsibility towards the customers. Room service is extremely bad- we are made to wait for hours before anyone responds even to take the order for dinner. Food quality is the worst- so so spicy and disgusting. Basic items like dal fry are not available. Basic cleanliness and hygiene is not there. Staying in this hotel is a big waste of money. If they cannot cater to the needs of the customer, its better to shut down a hotel like this. Horrible experience- please never stay in this hotel.

Best hotel in Chidambaram they have a set of newly renovated rooms which are very good, wifi was little patchy but not a big issue. The complimentary buffet breakfast has limited dishes but whatever was served was good. I stayed with my family for 2 days and had a good experience.

One of the decent hotels at chidambaram opposite to bus stand. Temple is just walking distance of 1 km. Room was spacious bit expensive and old styled ones. Toilet and bet was clean, service was slow. Definitely food complimentary was damn good but again the issue was service was too poor. There is restuarant at hotel what I can say Is can avoid that not because of taste because of price and service.
Arun Manoharan — Google review
I stayed 1 day here for triple occupancy, the tariff was too high compared to other hotels.. it went to too old!! No plug is opening to insert your mobile charger the staff will come with screwdriver to open the point so you need to be ready with your charger, if you miss again it will be awful!! From Railway station they will charge 100rs and it's exactly opp to bus stand(only this is beneficial if you are traveling through bus). Temple 1.5Kms so again you need to look for an transport!!! Overall it's not a good hotel at the moment, when I asked they informed me renovating don't know when it will complete!! So better check all these things before you check-in ...

Very good centrally located hotel. Nice clean rooms with good restroom. Nothing fancy. But comfortable. Very helpful staff. Bad experience with receptionist Bala, they have given manual key and the door got locked & informed they are just telling to wait and no action taken. Just speaking personal calls at reception and duty manager not available. Afterwards arrives Mr. Murugavel Manager, he is supporting this receptionist, and searching for spare key, they don’t even know where they kept it. What if there is kid inside and the room got locked randomly and it is an emergency. I prefer lakshmivilas over this, Mr. Krishna good service at lakshmivilas owned by Saradharam only.
