Vancouver Island

There's so much to see on Vancouver Island that it can feel a bit overwhelming. You can get a taste of the west coast wilderness, a little urban culture and a good dose of British Columbia charm on this island that stretches more than 200 miles. There are major cities like Victoria and Nanaimo, but there are also smaller communities, secluded beaches and rugged parks with plenty of wildlife.

It has permanent galleries and interactive exhibitions that explore the natural and human history of British Columbia as well as the world within its world-class exhibitions. The Royal BC Museum also features a IMAX movie theatre.
This is such an awesome experience! I enjoyed the Orcas exhibit 🥺❤️ I loved how they explained things such as climate change, global warming, plastics, saving our mother nature. This touched our hearts. So far, this is the best museum I have ever been in. I will never forget my experience here and will definitely be back again ❤️ I thank everyone who made this possible, the effort you put into this is very much appreciated. The setup was amazing, everything is interactive and educational. There is also a great collection about indigenous people which are all so inspiring. But, of course the best of all, the natural history of BC. From historical to current records of all living things. Information after information after information, it’s crazyyy but we love it! ❤️❤️❤️ You can buy tickets online to avoid the line up. But, staff here are so fast so you wouldn’t really feel like you’re waiting. 😊

Great museum has very nice and extensive exhibits. I went there when they had the wildlife photo-journalism exhibit which was a interesting one. It wasn’t busy whatsoever but I did go on a rainy Sunday around 3:00. Would definitely recommend going. It also seems like there was a third floor exhibit but for some reason it’s closed and I don’t know why. Maybe it will be open sometime in the future.
Nik Gorbs — Google review
We enjoyed the wild life photography exhibit. The Chinatown inside the museum is very cool - so much details! So is the mammoth scene, forest scene with deers & elks, and the ocean front scene.

A well curated museum.A must visit when in Victoria. Right now though only the nature history wing is open and tickets as low as $5 is being charged. Will like to visit when the renovations are over to look at the rest of their fabulous collections.

This is one of the best museums we have visited. It has natural history, art, First People cultural history, and an interactive town/ship/ mine from British colonial history. Really great. Two weeks ago, that section was closed for remodel. I'm hoping it is still as awesome as ever when it reopens.
Kathleen Freeman — Google review
Impressive amount of varieties of contents and installations. One of the most interesting places to visit in Victoria. Recommended to check what exhibitions they're running before visit. Great for families with kids. Indoor with air conditioning. (Tickets are more affordable than the Butchart Gardens in Victoria...)
Wayne — Google review
It looked small from the outside but surprisingly big for it's size. Decent amount of of exhibits I must have spent 2.5 hours here. Not busy here I guess it's slow season in mid-October.
Mark B — Google review
All the staff is extremely friendly and fun to interact with, especially the gift shop attendants and security. We had a lot of fun viewing the exhibits. The exhibits were very interactive which is great for making the museum more fun for kids. The gift shops have a good variety of pricing to suit all peoples budgets.
Justine Bouma — Google review
Good exhibit but some areas are closed. We missed the IMAX as we were on a tight schedule. Kids really enjoyed the aquarium areas.
Rafael Aranguren — Google review
Great place to visit and learn about the ice age and stuff. They even had a showing of covid portraits which was cool. Likes: it was cheap. $5 per person and it was absolutely worth it. Lots to see and learn. Dislikes: Nothing I can think of
James Adegboye — Google review
Had an amazing time!! The exhibits are so huge too. Did not do the IMAX portion this time, but I heard that it's a good option, especially if they are showing movie/documentaries that pair with current exhibits, like they are currently doing with their Cambodia exhibit.
Sydney D — Google review
Some of the exhibits are undergoing renovations. However, the ones that remain open are still enough to spend a few hours learning about the natural history of British Columbia. 🤩 I really enjoyed the titles of some of the information paragraphs. They use catchy phrases to hook our attention. 🤓😁
Leo M — Google review
Great exhibitions as usual! I went during family day weekend when they had free admission for under 19's. It was very busy but lots of fun! Lots of the museum was closed/didn't have anything set up, but even so, touring the exhibits that they did have took us around 2 hours! Very interesting stuff, I love mammoths!!!
Chloe LeBerg — Google review
I'm sorry but this museum is so tired, it hasn't changed in many years since I visited or if it has those sections are closed. The entrance is and remains uninspired with that grey plaza. There is no art on the walls it is the same white paint throughout, broken escalators on our visit, and small entrances to the exhibits often overcrowded as there is no staff directing people. We did enjoy the one staff member talking about owls. The photography exhibit was good. The gift shop is large.
Robert Kent DesRochers — Google review
Both husband and I enjoyed the museum. It is bigger than it looks on the outside. Liked the exhibitions they had but wished there was a permanent indigenous exhibit. We also went to an IMAX film and enjoyed that as well. The combo pack was around $40/ person.

Always an adventure, but this time around, with the Dinosaur exhibit, I was in my element. They have an amazing and meticulous way of setting up their exhibits. 10/10 is a great way to spend some time in Victoria ( especially in the fall and winter)

Free during a holiday. However, you will see a lot of people and their kids running from left to right or screaming. Be prepared. Lovely place, otherwise.

Located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Pacific Rim National Park Reserve boasts a diverse landscape including a lengthy beach, over 100 small islands and a 75km rainforest hiking trail. Divided into three distinct areas - the Broken Group Islands, Long Beach and the West Coast Trail - visitors can experience old-growth coastal temperate rainforest, important First Nation archaeological sites and ample wildlife such as whales, bears and bald eagles.
Fantastic spot in the spring before the crowds arrive. Great outdoors activities, stunning sunsets, wildlife etc.

Port Alberni inlet is gorgeous. The open waters of the west coast was just that. Open. The huge swells had me puking off the side of the boat. Once we moved inside broken island chain it was calm as was I. Fishing was amazing. Needs to be seen.

A very scenic 5 hr drive from Victoria to Tofino. One of the most beautiful drives in North America, no matter which season. The wilderness and untamed beauty of the West feels otherworldly. I look forward to my next visit!

Such a beautiful park. Enjoyed the rainforest trail very much!
Anika Tabaschum — Google review
very nice places and landscape. parking should be cheaper and opened earlier in the morning. Also watch out some trails sections are very badly maintained ; some wooden board are missing from the many platforms, some are so damaged that it is dangerous to walk on them. Especially Shorepine bug trail, Florencia to southbeach/Wikaninish beach. The beach parking lots are always closed in the morning and only opened at 8 am Its almost never possible to surf before work early in the morning. Very often the bathrooms are very clean.

We were on our way to Tofino, famous as a small surf town that’s home to around 2,000 people. Tofino is located on the west coast of Vancouver Island. To get there requires a scenic ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo, followed by a 3-hour drive through the stunning Pacific Rim National Park. Pacific Rim NP is absolutely stunning, so make time to visit, on your way to Tofino. While getting there does take some effort, we can assure you that a visit to Tofino is absolutely worth it.
Regina Fugat — Google review
Stayed there for 2 days. Nature was an otherworldly experience. Seeing the best of Pacific coast. Can't wait to come back and surf.

This place is epic. The WCT is awesome. Bring cash for a steamed crab, even if it's 9 am. Swim in the ocean, it's cold but it's worth it. Don't be a wuss.

Just finished the WCT 6 days and it was absolutely amazing. Lots of mud definitely wasn't 100 ready for everything we went thru but it was an amazing trip would recommend to any one looking for and adventure.

One of my favorite places. Tofino is just a stunning place. Pacific Rim has the biggest most beautiful trees with a beautiful newer boardwalk for the perfect hike. 100% worth a visit if you are in Tofino!

We camped overnight in our RV. Our site was in the Rainforest surrounded by large trees, ferns moss and the tiniest to the most giant of mushrooms. Some more local family members joined us for a BBQ dinner with that magical backdrop for our evening! We also enjoyed the beach trails The comfort station was clean and the park quiet. We will definitely stay longer next time.!

Absolutely stunning! This gorgeous reserve belongs on everyone's bucket list. So many beautiful trails to wander. It was also nice to see the clean, modern washrooms along Long Beach.
Amber Roy — Google review
Wild and beautiful. For camping. Camp sites are small and crowded, so your experience will be dependent on your neighbours. Massive tree coverage so they campsites can be damp, if you’re not from the west coast, it seeps into your soul. Bring layers! And enjoy the glorious nature.

Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is a stunning protected area located on Vancouver Island, Canada. It's renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, including rugged coastlines, ancient rainforests, and pristine beaches. The park is divided into three distinct regions: Long Beach, the Broken Group Islands, and the West Coast Trail. Visitors can explore a variety of outdoor activities, such as hiking, kayaking, and wildlife watching. It's a haven for nature enthusiasts and offers a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of the Pacific coastline and the diverse ecosystems of the region. We went just hiking and checked out the beach around with a lot of surfers. The park is really nice. Both trails together are roughly 4km of steps and trail. All new made and really secure. The forest is really impressive with its huge trees. The parking for a group costs 21 dollars or 10 per person. There are plenty of small benches to make breaks and look at the view. You could see bears and a lot of birds here.

A place you won't want to leave. This is one of the most magical places you will visit. Kick off those shoes, feel that sand between your toes as you watch and hear the waves crash into shore. I would highly recommend a sunset beach walk, absolutely stunning!

Amazing hike and experience, walked to the seal look out and back, roughly 4.5 hours. Saw lots of seals but no whales. Some water fill ups along the way but have to filter. Overall amazing experience will be back to hike the whole trail.

This is one of the places you must come if you decide to visit Vancouver Island. We drove through the gravel road to visit Bamfield and we found this amazing place. A lot of people come here for the West Coast Trail to do backcountry hiking (74km). My family and I did the day-hike, which is about 20k out-and-back. The trail itself is well-maintained and has a lot of surprises. We had to climb many wooden ladders (they called them stairs) to get to the top. We also saw many tiny animals and some reptiles like snakes 🫣 along the way. When you reach the 9km mark, you will see the sea-lion-haul rock. A lot of sea lions come to this place to rest, and you get to watch them from a respectful distance. You can also spot some orcas playing in the ocean. I kid you not, I can sit there and watch the scene all day long! You will then encounter the lighthouse just before you reach the 10km mark, and this is a wonderful place to take a quick break. We turned around and headed back after we visited the lighthouse. Overall, this was a great hike. I was impressed that my children completed the hike without complaining. I guess the amazing views, the ladders, and those surprises kept them busy, so they were always excited to discover and explore the beauty of this place. I would definitely take my family for backcountry when my children are older.

Cox Bay Beach, situated in Tofino, Canada's renowned surfing capital, is a vast expanse of sandy shorelines embraced by lush trees. This popular beach, nestled within Pacific Rim National Park, attracts surfers seeking the thrill of tempestuous waves crashing from the mighty Pacific Ocean.
This was by far the easiest beach to get to out of all the beaches I went to. To be fair all the trails or beaches I went to did not have a fee. The beach was nice and not too crowded. I went in the colder times so not many people around. Very pretty beach:)

A must if you are visiting Pacific Rim. *The beach is actually a private property. *Has paid parking *Access through the breezeway on the left hand side of the washroom *Very busy even on weekdays *The waves are great for surfing

Love this beach, great sunsets and surf. Very nice place to relax just outside of Tofino. We parked near Long Beach Report and just walked through the property without any issues. Not sure if they enforce parking more now this was a few years ago. Definitely a must see on the west coast of Vancouver Island!

One of the top beaches in the area. Excellent for beginner surfers. Great for walking the beach. The wind can be cool. About a 5-10 min walk from the paid parking lot. Outhouses.
Tina Panetta — Google review
Beautiful beach and good surf. Pretty heavy whitewater and mush on high wind days, but on good days it's a prime cruising wave
Nick Brooks — Google review
An amazing beach! There are better beaches to learn how to surf, tricky to get out past the break. But for hanging out, playing with your dog or family, this is a great choice.

Cox Bay Beach is located on the southern edge of Tofino and is certainly a draw for surfing , beach walking , and photography..the white sandy beaches look out to the Pacific Ocean..there are sections of the beach with quite a number of driftwood logs that certainly attract a tourist’s attention…we picnic and enjoy the wide variety of activities..I particularly enjoy to photograph large crashing waves with a strong energy present when large waves hit their height and then come down with a crushing visual roar…

Stunning beach! This one is lovely to walk along the beach then go to either cox bay viewpoint on one side or the boardwalk trail on the other for some nice views of the bay.

This is the place to watch the sunset. I've heard that the Cox Bay lookout you can find by hiking up all the way from the entrance on the right hand side on the beach (when facing the ocean) is magnificent as well!

Visited in August, great beach. We also did the Cox Bay lookout trail located at the far end of the beach. Well worth it going up.

Beautiful walk along the beach and then jiked up to Cox Bay lookout. Check alltrails for the location of the trailhead. It's a good one. Recommend waterproof hiking boots.

The water is cold, super cold !!! Very different from long beach where in the waves take away the sand with the tides, you seem to sink in if you’re in the same spot for long :) Saw some folks making wonderful Time-lapses because it does give you a beautiful sunset to look at as you climb the nice rocky surfaces for a somewhat aerial view :) recommended ! Will definitely visit again when we visit Tofino !!

The trails are well-maintained and developed, offering visitors the opportunity to take in the beauty of the large trees while breathing in fresh forest air.
We did both trails and thought they were both beautiful! Super well developed & maintained - great job to all the people who have worked on these trails!! Great way to see so many beautiful, big trees and breath in all that forest air! 🌳 ❤️

This is a beautiful and awe inspiring walk. We did the A loop as the B loop was closed. The trail we walked on was all laid out with a beautiful wooden boardwalk with steps up and down the hills. So there are no muddy trails and it is an easy walk. The old growth forest is incredibly lush and you could see the new growth sprouting from fallen, old trees that had decayed and allowed the forest cycle to continue. Breath taking scenery!
Michael Ogawa — Google review
Really enjoyed walking here. We did hiking along trail B. It's totally worth it and highly recommend. Its really nice walking through the lush rainforest and the path is on a raised wooden platform. Park pass can be purchased at the parking lot at Trail B.
abhiram s — Google review
Definitely worth doing if you’re visiting Tofino. We took our time on both trails, which made the stairs not seem like a burden on our way back up. Trail A took us about 35 minutes and Trail B 40 minutes, again walking pretty slow, and just over 1km for each trail.
Marli Mounsey — Google review
We did loop B today. We moved quickly, so it took us only around 20-25 minutes. Absolutely gorgeous walk and we loved the signage throughout which included descriptions and information. Would have loved to stay for loop A, but had a tight timeline. Definitely worth the stop!
Mimi Godin — Google review
Breathtaking walk. There are two 1 KM Loops. Check out both. It is incredible to see how they’ve built such a sturdy and stable wooden boardwalk-like pathway throughout the rainforest. Photos can’t even capture the beauty of this trail.
Laila PT — Google review
Two easy loops with a bit over 1km each. Almost completely on wooden paths. Impressive rainforest 😍 definitely worth stopping! Parking is 21$ for a day pass (shortest option) and two adults. Guess that's needed with all the tourists in summer?
Matthias Mustermann — Google review
Nice walk We did Loop B then Loop A. We liked Loop B better. Took us 45-60 min per loop with stops. Park pass can be purchased at parking lot by cards ($10.50 per person per day at Pacific Rim NP).
Lucas Lee — Google review
I really loved this walk. I remember coming here as a kid with my sister, my grandpa, and my uncle. I don't remember much but oh boy is was it ever beautiful. If you are in the area, its totally worth it. Very highly recommended, don't forget your park pass! Enjoy the sights and sounds...take lots of pictures!
Jack Pajak — Google review
Exceptional walk in the rain forest. You’ll have 2 trails available (one on each side of the road, A and B). Parking is on the B side, which you’ll have to pay for (21$ for a group or 10$ per person). The all walks goes on wooden paths and is relatively easy. Some of the trees are gigantic.
Dorian Didier — Google review
This place is like a other world! Reminds me of New Zealand! So pretty, so fresh and peaceful! Be prepared for a lot of stairs. We'll maintain boardwalk throughout. We just hiked Trail B and it took about 45 minutes with stops.
Mishka McColm — Google review
This was so tranquil and beautiful! I went on a lovely morning and there was not another person around so I got to enjoy all of the nature and wonder to myself. I love that the trails are all walkways to not disturb the forest and living areas for all of the wildlife in the areas. Pristine and natural and allows you to immerse yourself in the environment.
Laurie L — Google review
Beautiful trail. It is one of the busiest trails in the area, but early morning before 8am it is deserted. Lush and old landscape, entirely on a deck platform. It took me about 25 minutes to complete trail B loop. Very easy, some stairs but nothing crazy. Dog friendly on leash. One of the highlight is the bridge made out of a huge tree trunk. Theres also a huge tree where you can picture yourself next to it.

The Pointe Restaurant is an elegant bar and eatery in Tofino, Canada, offering beautiful water views and warm decor. It has been serving farm-fresh Canadian dishes for 15 years. The restaurant is known for its gourmet focus and is located at the Wickaninnish Inn, a luxurious hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Guests can enjoy dishes like local cod with romesco crumble or aged organic ribeye with mashed Yukon Gold potatoes.
Of all the meals we had while in Tofino this was by far the best atmosphere, service & food. Definitely a meal all of us will be talking about for ages. From booking a reservation for a big group, to the a rural meal the staff at the Pointe were amazing to deal with. 10/10 would come back!

5 stars for cocktails and our server, but 2 stars for the front desk/hostesses. The cocktails and food were incredible, as was the view! We ordered one of their Negroni and sour cocktails (the specific names of the two are slipping my mind). Delicious and beautifully presented. The fish plate was nicely plated and we thoroughly enjoyed the butter crackers that accompanied the selection of smoked salmon and other local fish. Our server was the best (blue-eyed gentleman that only recently began working there), but we did not have a lovely experience with the front desk/hotel gate/staff. We were visiting from Toronto and are used to higher end restaurants, but did not feel welcomed. We called in advance to inquire if a reservation was required, the gentleman on the phone said walk-ins were welcome, but that they were dependent on how busy they were (totally understandable). We arrived at the gate of the inn by car and had to wait to hear if there was space. Showing our vaccine passports was not an issue. We arrived at the front desk of the inn and they claimed that they were very busy at the bar (even though we could see every stool and chair in the bar area was empty) and that they’d need to call to see if there was space. Keep in mind we had already sat in the car and waited until they radioed in to inquire of there being space. Would we come back? Perhaps not. I hope guests that aren’t staying at the inn are treated with just as much kindness as the guests.

I would give it 6 stars if I could! We came here for our 1st wedding anniversary and it was spectacular! Higher end dining yet very relaxed and casual! What an incredible treat it was to finally experience dinner here. I was able to get a reservation over the long weekend and highly recommend the later seating in the event there's actually a sunset. It was too overcast the day I went, but the panoramic view of the stormy coast was almost better. I think this was the first time I've ever been asked about any dietary restrictions at the time of booking a reservation, which I appreciated immensely. My server for the evening, Loretta also proactively confirmed any allergies/restrictions right away. The dining room is so well run with a perfect balance of polished and relaxed flow to service. Staff are attentive, pleasant, knowledgeable, and the food was fantastic. I was definitely full with an appetizer, main and dessert There were no regrets with trusting Loretta to curate a culinary experience with wine pairings for 2 of my courses- wow. It was extra impressive to have multiple dessert offerings that weren't just sorbet considering I'm celiac and allergic to egg!! Thank you to everyone at The Pointe for one of the most polished and memorable dining experiences I've had in all my travels.
Patricia Nichols — Google review
Stunning restaurant with service to match! I ordered the eggs Benedict but had scrambled eggs instead of poached... delicious. The staff as you walked into the building were warm and greeted everyone, the hostess was the same and our server was incredibly attentive. If you have to make a quick trip to the restrooms you'll have a chance to see their exquisite wine cave... and the table with the kelp stained into it... absolutely beautiful. Nothing was overlooked in the design of these spaces. A must if you want a west coast experience!

AMAZING! We came for brunch and the French toast is probably the best I’ve tasted in my life. The hot chocolate was perfect, not too sweet, just perfect and I didn’t want the drink to finish. Really nice views of the beach. The storms started and it was just great to have our meal in the warmth of the restaurant and watch the roaring waves and kept warm by the big fireplace. It’s a really nice restaurant. Free parking, and free charging for your EVs. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our server was very professional and welcoming. From being seated to getting the check or even going to the washroom, all the staff I encountered were very nice, and welcoming. Even the valet were very welcoming. The service here is top! Will visit again when next we’re in Tofino. Loved it!

My husband and I have been coming to the Wickaninnish Inn for special anniversaries since 2001 and we love the Pointe Restaurant. Stellar service (always friendly), attention to detail, stunning views, amazing food. I am especially a fan of the Pointe breakfast as well as the creative and delicious desserts! Each dish is SO beautifully presented - a miniature work of art, really. We recently celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Pointe Restaurant, and our menu that evening had an anniversary message at the top, plus we were presented with a chocolate Happy Anniversary message at the end of our meal. If you’re looking for a magical place to celebrate a special occasion, I highly recommend the Pointe Restaurant.

This is as close as it gets to a perfect dining experience, and I don’t say this lightly. Everything from the atmosphere, the service, the cocktails, the food (presentation, taste, cuisson) and the overall attention to detail just hit the ball out of the park. If I could give 6 stars I would. Bravo.

Really enjoyable at the Pointe restaurant for my wife’s birthday and our honeymoon special dinner. 10/10 service from the start with personalised menus, excellent recommendations for food and wine and also acocmodating a table move to have a prime spot view! Unfortunately the food didn’t quite live up to the service for us. Although it was local ingredients, we felt the tasting menu was trying to overcomplicate the food a little too much which didn’t work on a number of dishes both taste and texture wise. Despite this, the service and setting really pulled through (as well as the wine) to make it a very nice evening.

We came in for Sunday Brunch by walk-in. The staff were very warm and welcoming. They actually had two by the door, who would welcome and swing the large doors open for guests. Our server was very professional and well spoken. They talked us through each dish and had a very keen knowledge of the menu. We started with a mocha and a hot chocolate for beverages and they followed up with a query on whipped cream topping. That was some of the best mocha I've had in a long time and it came served with a fresh baked cookie that was just the right amount of sweet. For our main meals, we ordered the Bison Tongue Reuben and then the English Pea and Duck Risotto. The server was attentive in asking wether we wished for separate side dishes, larger dishes or central serving to share.. Its often assumed, but this has to be the first time we had 3 meal sharing options presented. The thoughtfulness was very delightful. The food itself was all it was promised to be. Fresh, flavours masterfully composed and visually on point. (no pun intended) We'd definitely love to visit again..

We enjoyed several breakfasts and dinners at the Pointe Restaurant during our stay at Wickanninish Inn this holiday season. We tried the vegetarian, regular and New Years Eve tasting menus in addition to other dishes. The service, food and drinks were all great. Quality and local source of the food as well as presentation justify the higher price point. Variety of bread provided with each dinner meal was awesome and we appreciated oil/vinegar alternative to butter. Chocolates at the end of each meal, including parting truffles on the last day, were a nice touch. We were also satisfied with the room service for coffee and charcuterie. Views of the beach and waves were amazing. Thank you for a memorable dining experience!

Vista 18 Restaurant is a top-notch harbourview rooftop eatery that features seasonal, organic cuisine served morning till night. With large windows overlooking Mount Baker, Juan de Fuca Straight and the Olympic Mountain range, this chic restaurant also boasts private booths and dark wood furnishings - perfect for a romantic rendezvous. The extensive wine list and reservations available online make booking a table easy.
We had a wonderful dining experience here with great food and service and a fantastic view of the city. We had the fresh Oysters and Humboldt Squid as appetizers. Then the Sesame Tuna and Pork Tenderloin for our main course. Cheesecake and Three Truffles for dessert.

Took my best friend here for a birthday breakfast, as his first time at Vista 18. In my reservation I had requested a table overlooking the Inner Harbour if possible, for the special occasion. Upon arrival we were taken to the other side of the restaurant and seated with a less than desirable view of some buildings below. It was slightly busy, but noticed some empty tables as we walked in, so I inquired about a better table as per my online request. Though not a ‘window’ seat, our server was able to seat us at an empty elevated booth near the Harbour side of the restaurant, across the aisle from the windows, giving us a view of the ocean! My granola parfait was oddly mostly pineapple chunks, which I left as I dislike them; however, my breakfast potatoes were very good, and my friend enjoyed his benny. Our banana smoothies were also very delicious! Overall, it was a nice breakfast, reasonably priced, and our server was very nice! Would pass on the parfait for next time. *Note: the empty tables pictured were mostly all occupied when we arrived*

My daughter took me out for my birthday. We were seated in a booth. The uptempo music was playing at just the right volume. The lights were low which allowed for better views and created a very intimate atmosphere and a private feel. We ordered 3 courses. Mains were the pork Wellington, Beef short rib and we also got the 3 cheese ravioli in chorizo bolognese. Truly everything was spot on. Portions were generous. Food was well seasoned and cooked. Medley of flavours was deeply satisfying. We were observing dry Jan and Feb so we had mocktails (YUM) and Royal Jamaican ginger beer (highly recommend). Our server, Drew, was a delight. He didn’t hover. He was on the ball and he had great energy and a quick wit. He gave good suggestions on food and wine. We felt welcomed and had a lovely evening. Overall, well worth the trip. All round excellent experience and we would like to try happy hour next. One thing, I’d love to have a view of the harbour next time - we were facing the Marriott.

Was looking for a place to get brunch while waiting to get on our ferry back to Washington and found this place. The views are amazing here. No matter where you sit, there's a great view. The food was delicious too. I highly, if only for the views. Was a quick walk to the black dot ferry line, so that was a plus too

Overall upset about the service. Firstly, despite requesting window seats since booking close to 2 weeks in advance, they could only give us a booth across a walking aisle because the host said they were booked upon arrival. Throughout the meal until the end, I walked around the restaurant for the different views and for the bathroom and no one ever sat at those questionable "booked" tables. The view wasn't spectacular either way. The food was not bad as the flavor was on point and portions were as described. However, my $40 steak had over 25% worth of inedible membrane in it and I voiced my disappointment to the server. He was very polite but couldn't offer any good explanation. He mentioned he could get a discount on the bill but never got back to us until I question the bill at the end. Wish they could just offer a small percentage discount or even a small complimentary dessert. That could easily win a five-star. Small offerings to satisfy an upset customer goes a long way. I have been to many similar-level restaurants that could do much better. Quite a bit of improvement in management is needed, including seat allocation.

The food here is simply amazing. Wife and I loved the food and the amazing views and service. It is one of the places that you promise yourself to come back for more. All aspects from drinks to dessert all top notch. We waited in hotel lobby after a long walk to refresh with some chilled lemon water before heading up. There is a Lego model of hotel in lobby which you have to see.

World class food, some of the best! Dinner server Michael left an impression nobody can ever live up to, what a service, such a caring gentlemen, treating diners like royalty. If not just for food, I’d come back just to be served by Michael again. Salmon and squid for dinner with a guava passion fruit juice was a very memorable combo, I’d have it again. Breakfast is great too, but service is just normal. Potato Green Apple soup with olive oil was the bomb for breakfast! The Artichoke Spinnach benny on their biscuit was really good, I packed one home too and it stays fresh and soft for long time. Wow wow wow! Great vegetarian and pescatarian options!

The food is just so fantastic!! You can feel every piece melting in your mouth. The entrees are so good that makes you feel is the main course. Absolutely lovely. I can’t wait to visit again.

This place is perfect for date night. The atmosphere is amazing. The services are great. Kevin was very friendly and attentive. The food was good but most dishes are a bit too salty for me. There are many options on the drink menu. They also have a kids menu with a few options. The view of the sunset was remarkable.

I have to say, the servers Scott and Juanita really knew their stuff 👏👏. They provided attentive service that was above average, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The view and overall vibe of the place were also really nice, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy our evening. To top it off, the staff surprised us with a cute little birthday cake for my friend, which was a really thoughtful touch. It added a special touch to the dining experience and made the occasion even more memorable. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the food. The steak we ordered was a letdown. We asked for a medium, but it came out well done. That was a big disappointment. We were hoping for a juicy, perfectly cooked steak, but it just didn't deliver. ☹️ The squid dish was also underwhelming. It lacked the flavor punch we were expecting. It fell flat and didn't leave a lasting impression. However, I have to give credit where it's due. The batch of oysters we had was a saving grace. They were fresh, flavorful, and really saved the meal from being a total disappointment. We thoroughly enjoyed the oysters and they were definitely the highlight of the dining experience. In conclusion, while the service and ambiance at Vista 18 were great, the food didn't quite live up to expectations. The overcooked steak and lackluster squid were major letdowns. The oysters were the only shining star in an otherwise mediocre culinary experience. Hopefully, the restaurant can work on improving the consistency and execution of their dishes to match the level of service and atmosphere they provide.

We went in for me and my friends 18th birthday. Amelia was fun, helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu. She did a great job creating a laid back lovely experience. Food was fantastic, views absolutely worth it. Will be back the next time we are in the province!

The best sky-view restaurant in Victoria! The food portions are just perfect size (not too big) and taste is very good. We also liked the wine menu with lots of BC wines that we usually enjoy drinking at home. The service is amazing - Emma is a very nice person and a professional waiter. Thank you! We will come again for sure.

The Vista 18 Restuarant and Lounge is located atop the Chateau Victoria Hotel. Got there just as the sun had set, and I can verify the view of the sunset to the west was amazing. We ordered Chicken and Prawns, and also 10oz strip loin.... the entire meal was very spot on. I had to make sure the waiter, whom was also bery delightful and tentative , to let the Chef know we acknowledged his expertise. 75$ each for a couple drinks and our meal including appetizers. I Definitely recommend this very clean and looked after gem.

Classy, chic, city views! I have been to Vista 18 a couple times now. every time I have enjoyed my experience from the ambiance to the views and service! Our server, Scott was funny, informative and relaxed. restaurant interior, elevators, guide you up to a gorgeous city views of Victoria, BC. Glass windows, surround the restaurant. Beautiful at anytime but especially sunset and at night! Food tasted beautifully curated! personally, I felt that no dish needed salt or pepper! Desserts were fun, childlike and unique I had the peaches and cream bourbon Brulé with fruity cotton candy! Looking for to next time!

The views, food, cocktails and service was great. The peach and creme creme brulee was delicious. We tried the green tea cheesecake but were disappointed. Other than that, it was a great experience.

We had an excellent experience at Vista 18 last night. The food was fantastic, the waiter and staff were professional and courteous, and the location is second to none in the city. The night view is magnificent on a clear night with all of the buildings lit up. It was well worth the money spent. Not the cheapest in town, but the value and the experience is great. I would highly recommend this restaurant for travellers and locals alike.

I was about to give this a four star but I felt like my experience was good from service, cocktail and the soup appetizer (my favourite ) until I got my entree. A pork Wellington, which I received and it looked like a pork steak. There was little to no pastry which I had waited for the server to come back but did not see for awhile which I then looked online to see if anyone else shared pictures of their dish to compare. As a benefit of doubt. He arrived only when I was finished the entree, compared to the beginning where he was around under 10mins or so. I inquired why there was no pastry around the pork, which he quickly informed that he was sorry that he should have mentioned that this is how their pork Wellington is. I was kind of shocked by his response and tired so I paid to leave. These are the two things that bothered me and Ill leave some photos for you to judge. But other than a not pork Wellington which I was excited for the mushroom and pastries that was non-existential. The taste of everything was overall tasty and well cooked.

A classic Victoria restaurant with beautiful views and friendly staff. Food was well prepared and flavours were great. Steak was cooked to perfection as was the Ling Cod. The carmelized peach bread pudding was a perfect ending to wonderful meal.

Can’t beat the view, and my Amaretto Sour was perfect. The charcuterie, calamari, spinach salad and the steak were all delicious, the only thing that didn’t quite meet my expectations was the tiramisu cheesecake. Other than that, lovely experience and great service! I highly recommend checking this place out

Pluvio restaurant and rooms in Ucluelet, BC is a must-visit for food enthusiasts. The restaurant boasts an open kitchen and offers a show-stopping 3-course dinner featuring seafood and global cuisine. Chef Warren and his partner Lily have curated a menu that celebrates the coast, using the freshest ingredients, some of which are sourced from their rooftop garden. The menu changes seasonally to highlight each new harvest, incorporating foraged elements like spruce tips and mushrooms.
Thank you so much to all the staff at Pluvio. We came here for our 25th anniversary and you made it such a memorable one. We had the 5 course vegetarian tasting menu. The combinations of flavours were amazing, the food was perfectly prepared and presented. If it is available I recommend the seats looking into the kitchen, watching the chefs at work was a treat and Chef Ross would come out and answer questions and give insight to the meal. Just as incredible as the food was the staff, so friendly and ready to answer questions and give info about each dish and pairing. Danni, our server, was amazing, as were the rest of the staff.

Truly one of my favourite places to stay and easily my favourite restaurant. This was our second time staying at Pluvio, we first came in April and loved it so much we came back again and stayed for 4 nights. The whole experience was amazing from the beautiful rooms, incredible atmosphere and service, exceptional food and drinks menu. We’ve have both the tasting menu and 3 course and there’s not a bad word to say. Everything was perfect and the wine pairing for the tasting menu matched perfectly. You can even add extra snacks to your meal if you choose, which is hard not to do every time as they are unforgettable. The price for the menu if great for the quality and portions. Every staff member is welcoming and friendly they know the menu like the back of their hand. If you’re on the island this place is a must and definitely and experience you’ll remember.

I was very happy when I found they had a vegetarian option. While you can't select it when you make the reservation, we had no issues in getting the plant based tasting menu for dinner. What an amazing menu: delicious, with lots of details, variety of ingredients, full of flavour... The place is very nice and cozy. I would not be surprised if they get one Michelin star. Great experience!

We dined at the restaurant and had an amazing experience. We sat at the bar (highly recommend) and watched the action in kitchen first hand. Chef Warren and his crew run a tight ship and it was impressive to see. Service was impeccable and the food was world-class. If you’re in that area it’s a must. Highly recommend.

Guests will discover very quickly that customer service is at the heart and sole of Pluvio. The rooms are spacious, the decor modern and tasteful. I was skeptical of the “cold breakfast provided” but these are delicious, healthy and better than most restaurant serves meals in my experience. And of course the food in the restaurant is extraordinary and the wine pairings were spot on. We look forward to our next visit.

Nestled in the heart of the city, Pluvio is not just a place to eat; it’s a destination for those seeking a culinary adventure. On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of experiencing their highly acclaimed chef's tasting menu, and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I stepped through the doors, the trendy and cool decor set a vibrant backdrop for what was to be an unforgettable evening. The atmosphere struck a perfect balance between elegance and a relaxed vibe, making it an ideal setting for both romantic dinners and casual social gatherings. The chef's tasting menu was a dazzling showcase of creativity and culinary expertise. Each course was a masterpiece, featuring bright, bold flavours that danced on the palate. The dishes were not only flavourful but visually stunning, with a riot of colours that promised—and delivered—sensational tastes. The staff at Pluvio were impeccable in their service. Attentive yet unobtrusive, they ensured that each course flowed smoothly to the next, enhancing the overall dining experience. Their knowledge of the menu was impressive, providing insightful details about the ingredients and the preparation that enriched our appreciation of the meal. A highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the perfectly cooked dishes. Each ingredient was treated with the utmost respect, perfectly prepared to highlight its flavours and textures. It was evident that there was a profound understanding of how to coax the best out of each component, whether it was a succulent piece of seafood or a fresh, crisp vegetable. In conclusion, Pluvio delivers an exceptional dining experience that goes beyond mere eating. The chef's tasting menu is a journey through flavours, textures, and colours that not only satisfies the appetite but also captivates the imagination. If you find yourself searching for a dining venue that promises an evening of culinary delights, Pluvio should be at the top of your list. Stephen

Hands down one of the best meals I've had! This little gem in Ukee can easily beat out some of the best restaurants that Vancouver has to offer. From the moment we sat down to our last course, we felt well taken care of by the team at Pluvio. Each dish was cooked to perfection and we enjoyed every last bite. The dishes were so creative and visually stunning, with a great balance of flavors and textures, and that you know the chef had specifically designed each course with care. I can't recommend this restaurant enough and we definitely will be back.

Pluvio restaurant is truly one of the best dining experiences in the world. My husband and I went there again last night and we were remarking on how, of all the restaurants we have eaten in the world (and there have been many spectacular establishments that we have been privileged to eat in, some with Michelin stars) this is truly our favourite. The food, the flavours, the presentation, the atmosphere, the gracious service are all unbeatable. Last night was a memorable feast for our senses. I felt so grateful to have had another chance to be in this beautiful gem of a place. Thank you to all the incredible staff and chef Warren Barr for yet another scrumptious feast. We will be back!

The dining experience at dinner was one of the best we've ever had. Lily, Warren and the entire team were so wonderful and attentive. The food and cocktail were amazing, nothing but very clean plates and smiles all around from our group the entire evening. To this day we still talk about the dining experience. We really appreciate the intimacy the owners and team at Pluvio create for their guests and diners and it was the perfect place to kick-start our first full day as a married couple. We will most definitely be back!

We had a very nice meal here. This is clearly a more expensive option in town but we’d say the standard of the food was commensurate with the price. Most of our dishes were absolutely delicious. And while there were a couple of things where the flavour combinations didn’t work for us, the quality of the ingredients was still clear. For example, we didn’t like the scallop and orange sauce combination. But the scallops were the biggest and juiciest we’ve ever had. However, our visit didn’t get off to a good start, as we were left waiting at the door for over 20 minutes. It turned out some previous guests had run over their time slot so our table wasn’t ready, but nobody communicated this to us and instead everyone that walked past avoided eye contact with us and essentially ignored us. It didn’t help that another couple came in 10 minutes after us and got seated straight away. We still were offered no explanation. Eventually we were seated at a different table at the bar which had been vacant the whole time. We understand the restaurant can’t control the actions of other guests but we think the situation could have been managed and communicated a lot better. We almost walked out because we got fed up of waiting, the only reason that we didn’t was we thought we’d be charged a no-show fee. In the end, we’re glad we persevered as we had a nice meal, but we do think this situation could have been easily avoided and shouldn’t happen at a restaurant of this standard.

My wife and I eloped in Ucluelet, and chose Pluvio for our wedding dinner. It was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had, with absolutely impeccable and personal service. Fun and creative dishes, beyond just being delicious. We had one small issue with a dish and the restaurant did everything to make it right. An absolute must try experience for anyone.

Party of two booked a month in advance for Pluvio Restaurant last week for a special occasion and was impressed by the high quality and amazing taste of their dishes. The restaurant is small but cozy, with a lively atmosphere and attentive service. The menu offers a variety of locally sourced cuisine, from appetizers to desserts. However, be prepared to pay for this stellar culinary delight. The dishes are quite small and thus not very filling, but every bite for us was worth it. We decided to splurge on dessert and shared one each, which was the perfect end to a lovely evening. Although it is tough to get reservations and we won’t be able to afford to go there often, it certainly is a great place to celebrate special occasions. We will be back!

What an incredible and thoughtful dining experience! We visited during our honeymoon and were presented with a congratulations card signed by staff, and a Polaroid was taken during dinner to capture the memory. The staff and service were top notch. Lily and Katherine made us feel right at home. A beautiful restaurant with amazing owners and staff. Dishes were of exceptional quality, we had the best scallops of our lives, and every dish had its own twist and uniqueness to it. We had the three course menu and the portions were just right. Drinks were fabulous and one-of-a-kind as well (and that's coming from someone who doesn't drink!). Will definitely be back and was already sharing this gem with others once we got back home.

This is a review for the restaurant, not the hotel. We ate at the Pluvio restaurant but did not stay in the Pluvio inn/hotel. We were very happy with our dinners at Pluvio. The service and food were exceptional. It was nice to meet the head cook, Warren. Lily and Kate were also knowledgeable and thoughtful servers. We went back a second time during our stay in Ucluelet because we loved the intimate atmosphere and tasty food so much.

By far the best 3 course meal I’ve ever had. Not only are the flavours there, the presentation is art on a plate. The vibe is relaxed and cozy and unpretentious for such quality food. The service impeccable. The meal end with a homemade truffle after desert. Great wine selection. It is truly a culinary experience you won’t want to miss if you visit the area. You must reserve in advance.

Beautiful meal and experience. Service was amazing and the food really lived up to the hype. They were super accommodating of some of our food restrictions (a vegan, a dairy allergy) and no one felt left out. Love the snacks served around the three course menu, it was a delight seeing what came to the table next. Worth the price, reviewers on here complaining don’t appreciate what it takes to craft meals like this. Portions are small but you will be full by the end of the night don’t worry.

My wife and I had the tasting menu with wine pairings. We sat bar-style right by the kitchen. We witnessed artists making art. Amazing meal meticulously put together. The veal cheeks were both incredibly tender and crunchy. So many of the courses were amazing. This restaurant deserves a Michelin star.

An incredible experience, truly a special place. You can tell that blood, sweat and tears goes into everything that is put in front of you and everything around you. This restaurant is a labour of love, but its all about fun, discovery and experimentation. We had the 5-course menu and wine pairings, it was on par with some of the best restaurants worldwide. Such a pleasure, we’ll be back— definitely. Thanks Lily and the team…

The best dining experience we’ve ever had. We loved sitting at the chef’s table and watching how gracefully everyone works together to make these incredible creations. We ordered the chef’s tasting menu and they were so accommodating to our allergies and intolerances that we had forgot to put down in our reservation details - (thank you again!) The service was wonderful. Every detail was so thoughtful and we are so glad that we booked my birthday dinner here. We look forward to eating here again the next time we visit Ukee!

If there's one thing that this establishment gets right besides excellent food is - Hospitality. From the onset, we were greeted by our names and were shown to our seat in the most politest yet unprentetous manner. The staff was extremely personable and made the whole experience very intimate in an already a very intimate town. The food was carefully curated with a lot of passion and heart and every dish had a good balance where quality of fresh ingredients truly shined. We had celebrated a birthday milestone and couldn't have picked a better venue to do so. We will likely stay a night or two on our next visit but I would highly regard this place as one of the top picks in all of BC. Highly recommend

Our whole evening from beginning to end was incredible. They asked our names right at the start and it truly felt like we were guests in their home (in the best way). When we called ahead with dietary restrictions, they were very accommodating. The attention to detail in presentation, creativity, and flavour were unmatched. The environment felt cute, cozy, but elevated. Our server, Anaise, was so kind, knowledgeable, and charismatic. Would request to have her again. We will absolutely be returning and recommending to all of our friends and family. A more expensive evening, but worth it!

Fantastic dining experience from start to finish! Our server, Catherine, was so lovely, as were the rest of the staff and the owners, Chef Warren and his wife Lily. Friendly, attentive but not overbearing, fun (great playlists, guys!), tasty cocktails, impressive wine list, and very clean kitchen. We loved being able to see the chefs work their magic while we dined. It was super impressive that they even took down and washed the hood vents in between dinner seatings. We will definitely be back and highly recommend dining at Pluvio.

We stayed at Pluvio and had dinner at the restaurant as well. The food was really good and nice experience, would highly recommend it. The room was really nice as well, very spacious and lots of good treats inside (breakfast, coffee, tea, juice, and fresh cookies). Bathroom very big and clean. Shower had enough space for two people. Only negative is that during the weekend the old veterans club is quite noisy and sometimes stays open until 1am. Although loud, it wasn’t too bad with all the doors/windows closed. If you are a light sleeper it may be an issue for you. Only recommendation is that you add a hot tub to the property! Will be back for sure.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I booked Pluvio. This really turned out to be a casual but really well thought out take on fine dining that beat all my expectations. Staff really take care to focus on service and presentation. Sablefish was my favourite of the night. Ask them to smoke the Sage cocktail it’s a nice touch that’s not offered on the menu.

Pluvio is one of the top 5 restaurants on Vancouver Island. I had had their food (takeout) during Covid and it was memorable. I had reservations to return for dinner November 2022, but that had to be cancelled due to a huge storm and power outage. I was super impressed that when I and my dinner partner entered they even made mention of that, and the personal service throughout dinner was exceptional. It was well worth the wait! We both had the 3-course tasting menu and they also brought lots of yummy "extras." Our server, Jovan, took great care of us and his wine suggestions were spot-on with our food. I only wish they were in Victoria - actually, no, I would be broke and fat, if that were the case!

This place is amazing. Had the pescatarian and vegetarian chefs tasting menu. Every single item we ate was a hit. Not one weak dish. Super super impressed. Probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had in BC and well worth checking out if you like fancy thoughtful food. I wish I lived closer so I could come again. As a vegetarian I appreciated the care to developing dishes that didn’t rely on boring veggie tropes. I was surprised and delighted by the food. Also loved the ceramics they use and the plating (which I normally don’t really care about) did stand out. Good job.

THE BEST. I would give it more stars if I could. My husband and I ate here last summer and we are still talking about how it was the best fish and chips we’ve ever had and wish we could eat here regularly! If there’s a line, wait in it. It’s worth the wait! And the experience of sitting on the dock and eating with that view was incredible. Don’t miss this spot if you’re in the area 🤩

Large portions and great quality for the value, plus nice location on the water. The only con is the wait - you have to stand in line for 20-30+ minutes just to order (for lunch on a somewhat sunny Friday). However, once you order the food comes out relatively quickly. They do have outdoor seating but it fills up quickly, every seat was taken. Definitely come earlier rather than later during peak meal times!

The chowder is DELICIOUS! Kinda tastes like a curry chowder. Beautiful view, excellent food. I highly recommend Red Fish Blue Fish. The wait is long but once you get your food you will know why. Definitely worth the wait.

Before I start, as many others mentioned, there was a very long wait. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place if you are in a hurry and want to finish your meal fast. Yes, but the food was worth the wait. Their BC Fish and Chips were my favourite, with a warn fish and chips perfectly cooked and seasoned. The foods were wonderful. I’d also like to acknowledge their wonderful harbour view that you can enjoy while eating your food, but I went there mid-to-late August, which, there were a lot of bees and wasps, so consider visiting at another season if you dislike those. Their service was not bad, quite kind comparing to other restaurants. But they were really busy that sometimes they forgot our requests, but I had to understand this because I went there at a peak time.

OVERALL: It's not a Comparable 5star restaurant Review - but awesome for a fish n chips shack. Super friendly staff, and fast and effective. Also busy and long line, so bring some time and a coat (it can be windy and cold out there). DETAILED REVIEW: It is what it is, and that's also what it wants to be. A fish and chip shack that serves out of two converted containers. They offer a good seasonal fish selection (salmon, cod, halibut) and you can have it traditionally deep fried or grilled. We tried both, the fish and chips (Cod and Halibut mix) and the Grilled Salmon with Salad (both were just great, juicy, and fresh and the salad was surprisingly delicious and fresh. We did not try the soup (chowder) but it was very popular and people seemed to love it. Great overall experience

We love Red Fish Blue Fish! The fish is fresh and perfectly cooked, and everything was seasoned to perfection. Highly recommend coming here - we were there 20 minutes before they opened, and there was no lineup. Once they opened at 11am, the line grew a lot - but it is worth the wait!

Got a one piece halibut fish and chips and it was amazing! The fish was very fresh, soft and literally melts in your mouth. Both coleslaw and fries were amazing! Make sure you get there early because the lines are very long during prime time, especially during holidays/weekend.

Alright, return customer here. They executed their cooking technique flawlessly. No short cut on the fries, excellent batter on the fish, chowder was full of ingredients and flavour, the deep fried pickles complimented everything really well. Great deep fried fish and chips on an ocean side wharf. My wife and I enjoyed the deep fried salmon with chips and also the Jerk Fish poutine. The is a restaurant kiosk that you order from and you eat your food outside. It is fast food style. There are some seats but mostly standing room only. There are no washroom facilities available here but there are public washrooms about two minutes away. The food was hot and delicious. Next time we are in Victoria we will be coming back.

The fish and chips are good. They have three different kinds of fish: halibut, salmon and cod. I tried all three. The halibut is much more expensive but I didn't find that tastier. I liked the salmon one the most. It is nice to sit outside by the water eating the food. But as the other reviews mentioned, there was a long wait. We waited about 25 minutes to order and another 25 minutes to get the food. Although the food is good, I am not sure if it is worth the wait. Maybe on a warm day it would be better than yesterday when I was there it was cold out.

This has got to be the best fish in town. Staff are down to earth and friendly and the bonus is you get stared at by the fattest looking seagulls in all of Victoria. Everything was tasty and fresh. The pickled onions and sprouts were an elevated touch. I would highly recommend this place rain or shine, wind or snowstorm. A hidden gem located right on the water of Victoria harbour.

Fish and chips fried to perfection! Large fish pieces and very crispy. The highlight of my meal was the tuna taco cooked medium rare. It was full of flavor and satisfying. The views are spectacular. I went on a less busy cold day and the wait time was around 15 minutes then another 10 minutes for my meal.

By far the best Fish and Chips joint in Victoria! The fish is perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, hot and flaky on the inside. Good portion size. Nicely cooked fries as well. Loved the fish tacos as an option as well. The chowder is filling and has such good flavor too. It's right off the marina and close to where the sea planes take off. This is a must try when in Victoria.

I never had any fish and chips better than here before. Halibut with chips tastes soooo gooood. Wild salmon Tacones was amazing!

Brasserie L'Ecole is a French-style bistro with unpretentious quarters that serves tasty food and excellent wine (along with beer). The menu changes constantly to reflect the best of seasonal ingredients, while always delivering decadent flavours. If you're in the mood for something special, definitely order the signature platter for two!
We waited at 5 and were able to be seated when it opened at 530 on a Saturday. I think we may have been one of the last groups in line that made it in immediately. I had the burger, olives, asparagus brioche and for drink the Vieux Mot. It was delicious. All of it. One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The fries were yummy and very French traditional. I’ve never had a salty brioche before but will now be trying them more at home. I loved it. I can’t speak enough about how kind the servers were! I travel a lot alone with my daughter (5yo) and we love to go to fancy dinners together. However that usually means we get turned away or side eye. It was absolutely not the case here and I really appreciated that! We both had a wonderful dinner ❤️

I’ll start with the fact that I never leave reviews. Before I get into how insanely amazing the food was, let me rave about the service. We got there and waited outside for about a minute or less before we got greeted by the most joyous man. He kindly told us it would be a bit of a wait and asked what phone number they should text. My boyfriend gave his, to which I asked how charged his phone was. 14%. When we got there (they texted exactly when they predicted they would btw) the lovely man seated us and said “I heard you have a low charge on your phone” to which we approached a table where they had plugged in a cord for him to charge his phone. I almost teared up it was so thoughtful This level of service on top of some of the most high class food preparation in Victoria, (the stuffed dates were to die for) makes for an unmatched experience of fine dining in a wonderfully energetic and positive atmosphere.

I went with my Family to this restaurant, we were glad that it was a good day because the wait outside in a line to get a table could be quite painful if the weather was terrible. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very calming and quite. As well the waiting staff was fantastic. Our dishes were quite tasty, quite enjoyed the Duck Croquette. The steak was also good but would have liked some vegetables with it.

This very special French Restaurant operates on a first arrive, first basis so we arrived 30 minutes early and there were several enthusiastic customers already lined up…the discussion among those waiting was enthusiastic about what each individual was interested in ordering..the staff made regular visits along those waiting to answer any questions and to determine how many in each group..when seated, the service was excellent and all questions were answered..the cuisine was exceptional and we appreciated each portion of our order..the dessert was very delicious…we will be back soon for another adventure in this French Atmosphere..

Loved it here, and will for sure be back. Unique and lovely spot. Not a fan of the need to line up to get in - if they allowed reservations, I would come much more often. Loved the fist I had one night, and the duck. However, have had much better steak for way less money at other places. The steak I had was ok, but actually was over cooked, a bit tough, and considering the price (!!), I will definitely never order steak here again myself.

What a wonderful place, and people were right - you can't have a bad meal. The restaurant is small with just a dozen or so tables, not crammed together. The ambience is dark with sun coming through the front window and background music that is really low so everybody can talk. The top recommendation is the dry aged burger, oh my... This was the most unique and best prepared burger I tried, by a mile. To the eye, it looks like a normal to above average burger but the smashed meat is crunchy like bacon and has such a unique taste. Another highly recommended meal is the duck breast, it was tender and juicy. Even if you are not a starter person, just try onion soup, you won't regret it! Coming back for sure, because all the meals look and sound standard but are prepared on the next level. I enjoyed it so much I didn't take pictures 😁

The trout was delightful and I would recommend the truffle oil frites which were also delicious! The restaurant had a lovely ambience and the staff were friendly and prompt.

Classic French bistro out in Victoria. They don't take reservations which works out perfectly for someone like me who makes dinner plans last minute! Food was delicious, and the wait staff had great wine recommendations for us. Would highly recommend the Ratatouille and the liver pâté

One of the best joints in Victoria hands down. Gluten-free options for my celiac folks, delicious french cuisine, wonderful atmosphere, abundant wine list, cocktails, and immaculate service. There is a reason why Brasserie is able to operate without reservations. Go a bit before you're wanting to eat and get ready for a top-notch experience.

Adorable spot, pretty busy so try and get your name on the list for one of the settings. Feels very cozy inside but still intimate. Salads were amazing and food very well prepared. Would highly recommend trying it out

I am from Quebec City and I was very excited to try this classic French restaurant. We showed up at 6pm and they took our phone # and texted us at 7pm when the table was ready, which didn’t bother us. I don’t get why it’s so popular. I was very disappointed by the food. Maybe my expectations were too high because of the amazing food we have in Quebec. We had the endive salad and dates with blue cheese as an appetizer. Endive salad was very basic, kind of boring, for $17. The dates were okay, as expected I guess. My boyfriend had the trout and I had the mussels. Trout was served on an over cooked potato patty, it was dry and had a bland taste. For $30 you get a small portion of Salt Spring Island mussels (they were super good) and a small side of fries, which were okay. The ambiance is not great. The decor is not exciting either. I was expecting more because this restaurant is always full, and normally French cuisine is amazing. Will not go back.

This place offers very solid bistro dining in Victoria: * You likely know that they do not take reservations * We showed up on a Friday night just after 8:00 PM & were warmly greeted by the owner/manager. Within 5 minutes he had us comfortably seated. * Tables are well spaced apart. They could easily cram more in. The owner explained that this is his new philosophy: fewer tables = superior service + getting home at a reasonable hour. A huge amount of respect for this philosophy. * All of your brasserie favourites are on the menu. We opted for the ratatouille & the mussels with frits. Both were expertly prepared & a very pleasing explosion of flavour. * Wines are very gently priced. We opted for a sensibly priced Chablis. * Lighting is low & very flattering to the guests * Service throughout was knowledgeable, low key & polite * Guests seemed to be enjoying themselves. The sound level was subdued but exuberant. * A very enjoyable evening at Brasserie L'Ecole.

Is your Chef gone?? What happened? The steak sauce is not remotely what it always was :(( The french fries used to be worth coming to this restaurant for. What happened – now they are soaked with oil to stay hot, but not fries anymore. Some kind of science experiment? Mayo - your house made mayo was superb. It’s just nothing anymore. I hope your team finds the greatness it has always delivered.

The staff is great! Very attentive even if not their table. No reservations, so be aware of the seating policy and plan accordingly. It is worth the uncertainty! The chocolate cake was so good I took a photo after the first bite so I can look back on it wistfully.

Wonderful atmosphere, lovely meal before heading to the McPherson Theatre Opens at 5:30 and had a lineup by 5:15 We didn’t feel rushed even though there were people waiting outside. Chose the trout, whipped feta, squash, chard and grano.

One of the best restaurants I've been to in a while. The server made excellent food recommendations. We ended up sharing the endive salad, 16oz steak and white wine and garlic mussels. My husband lived in Brussels for several years and said these were the best he'd had in ages. The steak was fantastic. The next time we're in Vic, we'll be back.

We decided to finally try Brasserie L'Ecole on our anniversary for nice French dinner. 30 minutes waiting out in the cold was not so fun but we heard that's how you get a table so we dressed warm at least. We were seated right away and our server was polite and friendly while answering our questions about the menu. We ordered French onion soup and Tortelloni as appetizers and Rock fish, Duck Confit as main. French onion soup was fabulous. Rich in flavor, plenty of cheese on the top. The rest however was not so impressive. Tortelloni needed a bit more sauce, rock fish was cooked properly but was way salty. Duck confit tasted like a leftover most likely because it's overcooked. Not too long ago we had really nice duck confit at Cafe Brio so we were definitely disappointed. Dessert was alright, nothing impressive. After telling our server the rock fish was too salty, he took care of dessert which was nice. Personally I would prefer getting a great food and paying the right price for it than getting it covered on the house becuase it was not seasoned properly.

Got lucky that there happened to be a table and didn’t have to wait. French onion soup was great for the cold rainy weather out. The duck with Roquefort sauce was a nice combination of flavours, and burger with truffle fries was tasty as well. Restaurant interior was cosy, a lovely place to dine for special occasions.
