Wilmington

Wilmington is a city in Delaware on the Christina and Delaware rivers. Downtown’s early-20th-century DuPont Building is part of the local du Pont family legacy, which is also evidenced at the Hagley Museum. Those grounds include the 1802 du Pont gunpowder works and the family's Georgian-style home. The Old Swedes Church, between the Christina River and Brandywine Creek, is from 1698. Brandywine Park is to the north.

The Hagley Museum is a historical site located on the banks of the Brandywine river that showcases regional industrial history, including gunpowder mills and the DuPont family home. It played a crucial role in building the DuPont fortune and is spread across a large campus with numerous buildings and mills to explore. Visitors can take informative tours to learn about how gunpowder was made and see gravity-powered water turbines in action. The museum also features a machine shop displaying impressive engineering feats.
Natural resources beauty kingdom! You can watch and enjoy waterfalls sound very closely , it’s small height but still very beautiful. Very rare find old and big stones construction which you can easily find here and very climbing hill experience is very nice.

This is the home of E. DuPont and the Black Powder mills. The DuPont family was very prominent in Wilmington Delaware. They arrived in the early 1800’s. They started their business in the manufacturing of black gun powder

Excellent displays of patent models as well as the history of gun powder manufacturing in the 19th century. The house was also extremely well preserved and interesting.

Great museum with a wide variety of things to see. The property starts in the patent museum which is interesting and full of weird inventions. We didn't spend a lot of time here because we were heading to the house tour first. There are shuttles that will take you up there and you just need to let the staff at the ticket counter know what time you'd like to do it. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are also a lot of buildings on site ranging from old mills to 19th century town to a machine shop that does gunpowder demonstrations. On top of that you have the wonderful views of the river as you're walking around. You could spend a large portion of your day here if you had the time. Overall great place to visit and highly recommended.

The usual DuPont quality. In the summer, there is much to see and the grounds are incredibly beautiful and expansive. There is a lot of history here. For Christmas, they thoroughly decorate everything and it’s an excellent holiday experience.

The Hagley Museum is fascinating. It is a gunpowder factory that helped make the DuPont fortune and is quite a large campus. You can walk or take the shuttle and the tours are very informative. Situated along the Brandywine river, there are many mills and building to explore. Learn how gunpowder was made and many other interesting things. Our favorites were the tour of the gunpowder mills, run by gravity powered water turbines (it ends with a BANG) and the machine shop (so jealous). The museum is near the DuPont Estate and both can be seen in a day if you are ready to walk. I Highly recommend visiting, especially if you like engineering, machines, etc.

This is a great place to check out if you are into history. This is were the company DuPont was founded. Check out the website to see upcoming events. They tend to have a lot for young kids as well as adults during the week. If you like my post follow me. .

I enjoyed the demonstrations. However, if you didnt make an appointment earlier to see the interior houses, you are not able to. For the price, and only being able to see one small aspect of the area was disappointing. And the price was not adjusted for what was closed or available to the customer. I enjoyed what we saw but was disappointed that the price was not adjusted.

Fascinating and amazing museum around this DuPont family and their black powder factory / production along the Brandywine river. A museum of American Decor, there's a lot to see. You'll also learn a lot about the DuPont family. Great place to visit. This museum was so interesting. House tour was fantastic! ❤️🇺🇸

It is a beautiful place and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. There is so much to see. It’s a huge estate but they have shuttle busses to take you around. There is so much to see and it’s fun for the whole family.

This place is amazing. Had an informative tour of the Eleutherian Mills Residence, first home of the du Pont family in the US. So much to look at in the mansion. The barn has an original Conestoga Wagon as well several du Pont carriages. The Machine Shop and Turbine demonstration showed the power of water. Great views along the Brandywine River. The gunpowder demo at the Eagle Mill did not have a very big bang due to moisture but it was still impressive. This is where the du Pont family started their empire in black gunpowder. I have lived in the NJ/PA area all my life and never knew that the museum was here. This should be the starting point when touring the Brandywine area! From the visitor center, the shuttle bus takes you around the property with specific stops. Plan to spend 3 to 5 hours exploring.
Janet Cohen — Google review
Beautiful site! This place starts off at the main building which is a patent museum displaying the actual models of inventions when people applied for a patent. After that building, you can either walk along the path that guides you through the estate that contains the various buildings that were used in the preparation and manufacturing of gunpowder or take a shuttle that passes by every 15 to 20 minutes. Essentially it's a hop on-hop off shuttle. There is no additional fee for the shuttle. You get to also go through the main house where the family lives and it's just stunning. Everyone there is super knowledgeable and informative. I highly recommend this place. It's extremely affordable and you can go at various times of the year to enjoy either the gorgeous summer landscaping or during the fall to see the leaves turning.

This is a wonderful museum highlighting the DuPont family beginnings from the early 1800’s after arriving into Delaware. The museum carries many interesting patented inventions. This is a must visit place your entire family will enjoy! Also Hagley museum has special events taking place throughout the entire calendar year. I can’t wait until my next visit!

Amazing museum about early American history of gun powder manufacturing, great tours of the factories, + great exhibition of 18th and 19th century American historical inventions and the history of copy right and patent laws.

So beautiful here! All the people on the grounds were very nice and helpful too. I'm going to have to come back for more time in the actual museum after I was so distracted by how great the outside part was.

Our family had a wonderful time visiting the day after Christmas. It was my birthday so we didn’t get the earliest of starts. Had no idea there was so much to do and see.. We did the visitor center, main House/ museum, Barn and Gingerbread displays. Everything was beautiful. The workers and staff were delightful. The grounds and gift shop were awesome. Again, so many more buildings to see next time. Hopefully in the spring when the flowers are blooming. Lovely day.
Bill Huelas Jr — Google review
Interesting history and example of water powered machines. You can watch as sluice gates are opened and water begins to start turbines. Very cool demos. Last entry is 3pm but if you want to visit the home, you should arrive by 2pm. We arrived at 2:30pm and had missed the last shuttle bus that takes you to the home. The museum offers discount rates for people who have and active EBT card ($2 per person).

Nemours Estate is a sprawling 100-acre property featuring a magnificent 102-room Louis XVI-style chateau and an impressive collection of antiques. The estate also boasts beautifully landscaped gardens that are definitely worth exploring. The history of the Dupont family, who made their fortune selling gunpowder and ammunition during the 1920s, can be learned from the knowledgeable tour guides present in the house.
What a beautiful estate. Visiting what I always dreamt of owning, it took my breath away walking and touring the Nemours Estate. We visited with our three small children, and it was enough walking that they enjoyed it without getting overly tired before we saw the entire property. It is amazing how much land is there to see, but we spent 2.5 hours walking majority of the grounds, touring the mansion and garage. Parking was very easy, but when we were leaving (around 2-3 pm), there were only a few spots to choose from. Most of the staff are very friendly, and you can tell they have a genuine interest in the history of the property. Would definitely return for a photoshoot in the near future, because the grounds are too gorgeous to not get pictures professionally taken here as well.

I am so glad that I was finally able to get here! What's not to like about this fabulous place? Nothing! They have a wonderful staff there to make sure that your day is pleasant. Can't walk a lot? No problem! I brought my mother who is nearing 80. We got a ride to and from the parking lot to the Mansion in one of their golf carts. The Mansion is air conditioned. There were plenty of places to sit in the mansion and there was a small tour that can take you around the grounds if you don't want to walk it! Can you believe they let you walk on the grass? :) The staff is so knowledgeable and you can take pictures inside and out (except no flash photography). Thanks to those who have preserved this place for all to enjoy. If you like a bit of history, art and a beautiful gardens, don't miss this one!

Staff are knowledgeable and very hospitable. They gave umbrellas to visitors to borough since it was raining the day I visited. You can tour the basement, ground and second floor. The grounds are fashioned after the garden at Versailles.

Beautiful hidden Gem of Wilmington,DE. We were amazed by the size and beauty of the house. It was very tastefully decorated for Christmas which made it so spectacular! The tour guides were very nice and knowledgeable, we learned a lot about the DuPont family. Loved the conservatory and the bowling alley in the basement “man cave”. The staircase was very impressive too. The gardens looked fantastic but it was a cold day, so we’ll have to make another trip.

Absolutely gorgeous place. Extremely well kept. The staff was so knowledgeable about the history of the property. I enjoyed a lot tiring the mansion and taking pictures of the gardens. There was a couple doing a photoshoot and off course. This place is breath taking. I would recommend to everybody. Some of the things that caught my attention were: Their own ice making facility Self Vacuuming system for the house. Their own bowling alley. The bathrooms oh My lord. Just divine. Please go here and enjoy.

We had the most fabulous time here. The place is well staffed with friendly employees who are knowledgeable and appear to love what they do. The gardens and the house blew me away. We enjoyed the guided tours and loved walking the grounds on our own too. You can easily spend the whole day here.

The mansion and its gardens are simply beautiful. The guides inside the mansion are super informative about the history of the DuPont’s family. Prepare to spend at least 3 hours to be able to tour everything. Super recommended, you can feel a bit of Versailles on this visit.

This is magnificent. Land of history, beyond the opulent of the time, is a place to admire the art, the technology of the time and the arquitecture. Every room have a live guide that explains in details the life style and again the history in the walls and objects. Gardens are gorgeous, cars collection...

A beautiful mansion tucked away by the nemour hospital grounds sitting on 100 acres. I highly recommend coming here early so you can listen to more of the historical background during the tour from all the tour guides in the house to learn about how the dupont family rose to fame and fortune back in the 1920s era selling gunpowder and ammo. They unfortunately didnt have any of the fountains running actively. They do offer a military discount on the tour prices for tickets. Free parking lot and restrooms in a trailer near the parking lot.

Just to start with it is one of the DuPont’s family estates so be prepared it is a gem. We have visited this beautiful place both in summer and in winter. It is gorgeous in any season. Gardens during warmer months are fantastic you will have a feeling that you’re in France. And in the winter time especially around Christmas the mansion looks charming like some about to start the ball. We drove an hour to visit and it was worth it.

The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. It was inexpensive to get in, so anyone can afford to take their family. We spent about 3 hours there. The walk and steps were not strenuous. There is so much history and beauty. It's a must see.

Very pretty and informative. Well worth the $20!! Every tour guide that we interacted with could answer our questions. If you take a survey before entering and before leaving, they will give you a flower kit to take home! Plenty of bathrooms around the grounds. They have bottled water for guests in the chauffeur garage.

The gardens feel like Versailles and the interior of the mansion feels like Schönbrunn. Truly a stunning palace, a hidden gem here in Delaware! Definitely consider stopping by, there is fascinating history here and it is truly a great experience. P.S. the staff are extremely friendly and helpful

Explore the elegance of a 77-room Mansion, a Chauffeur's Garage with vintage automobiles, and 200-acres of French-inspired formal gardens, grounds, and woodlands. Meticulously maintained grounds with many water features. Antique gates and Children's Hospital on the grounds. The Mansion is open to the public and has excellent staff available to answer questions. Billiards room, bowling alley and an ice room are included in this amazing building.
Corby Crawford — Google review
This duPont mansion was easy and uncrowded to visit and gave an excellent view of life as a rich family whose philanthropy was useful (Children's Hospital) while built from the DuPont fortune. Touring was easy and we could explore the mansion in any order we wanted. The shuttle around the grounds was great to get an overview of and history about the estate. The docents were knowledgeable, plentiful, and not intrusive.

Delaware has an abundance of beautiful parks and gardens, but the riverfront is my most favorite place to be. I go there everyday. Sometimes just to sit and look at people walk by,look at the beauty of the surroundings and walk. It's refreshing and a safe place.

If you like going for a long walk on board walking on board then this is a definite place to visit. The board is very well maintained. The river seems to be 'Delaware River'. Along along the board walk you will find hotels, restaurants, PENN cinemas is 1 street away from the board walk. You can find it while ur walking on board. You can go early in morning or evening if the temperatures are ok. For rest rooms you will have to use the ones in restaurants, hotels beside the board. The board walk is very well maintained. You can also take a ride on bike.

Absolutely amazing place!!! They got everything you need. The Riverwalk is an excellent place to exercise, grab a meal, get a view of Downtown Wilmington, and get awesome sunset and seneic views!! Lots of history to read about along the way, so make sure you take your time and read some of the informative displays that are posted along the Riverwalk. Even has a few of the old cranes that were used to load and unload ships. I did several miles today and didn't even realize it due to all that there is to see. As always, I recommend this for the entire family for a day of fun and adventure. I recommend this for couples who would like some time alone. I also recommend this for those who have fur babies and want to exercise them as well!!

I enjoyed this walk by the river. The area had excellent views of the Wilmington skyline as well as the grassy arena across the area. It's very commercialized, with restaurants, a children's museum, golf course, and farmers market. Unfortunately I visited on a Tuesday in March and most things appeared closed. Parking is scattered throughout the area so check a map. My only complaint is the bathrooms were closed. Thankfully the market had theirs open.

The fireworks were mesmerizing. In July there were the fireworks, we got lucky to see the closure view. The fireworks took about 20 minutes. It was beautiful from Start to end and the ending was very amazing.

The Wilmington River Walk is a great place for a walk, to hang out, or to hit a resturant/bar. At least 6 resturant choices and 3 hotels(Hyatt Place, Homewood Suites, and Westin). Frawley Stadium, home to the Delaware Blue Rocks baseball team, is also located in this area. The shipyard that used to be on the waterfront, built landing craft (LSTs) for the Navy during WWII. The large cranes still exist at the site. Overall, a great place to visit.

Saw the circus acrobats. It was a sensory show on a Saturday afternoon. Not too crowded. Entertainment was awesome. I don’t think there is a bad seat in Clayton Hall. The building itself is architecturally amazing. My mom shared a memory of running around the balcony back in the 60s when it was a movie theater. Interesting history.

This is a great venue for performances. It's a beautifully restored opera house in downtown Wilmington. It's intimate, and because it is, the acoustics are great. The best seats are in the orchestra. They have plenty of legroom. The seats in other areas are less spacious, especially in the balcony. Legroom is an issue for me since I am 6'-4", so I always get orchestra seats when I can. The prices for the tickets are always reasonable. The people who work there for the events are always friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Grand Opera House as a venue for performances.

Wife and i went to an 80's dance party there. Absolutely a blast. Lots of fun, but temper your expectations of a night out. This was $7. a ticket with a cash bar. Drinks were $8 which is also cheap and not watered down! Snacks were a simple bowl of Utz pretzels. Actually, for the money spent, this was all perfect! I highly recommend an evening out at events here. Where else could you take four people out to four hours of dancing, snacks and fun for less than $60 total? Amazing.

The Delaware Art Museum is an exquisite museum that boasts galleries dedicated to pre-Raphaelite art, Brandywine school illustrators, and a 9-acre sculpture garden. The exhibits are carefully curated with great attention to detail and care. The museum also follows proper Covid protocols ensuring a safe visit for all guests. Among the highlights of the museum is Howard Pyle's artwork, including Treasure Island Pirates.
Such a gorgeous museum! I was only able to visit for a little over an hour, and I barely covered the first section. Clearly a lot of love and care goes into these exhibits! And they took care to make sure all the proper Covid protocols were followed. I cannot wait until I can visit again.

I had a wonderful experience at this museum. I had not been since I was quite young. I could not remember much about it or really say I could leave a review until I went back. My husband and I spent time strolling through and enjoying everything our hearts desired. I'm glad we started outside because the inside is bigger than I recalled. We started outside with the sculpture garden since that day there was a nice cool breeze. Most of the path was quite level, so I wouldn't have any issues with using my cane. I don't always need one, but I have some bad weeks. It's important to mention this especially if you look at my profile and my reviews, I'm looking out for accessibility issues whenever I go places. I think about wheelchair users, and I think about older folks and people who have health problems like myself. Speaking of which, on the inside, the museum has elevators, so you can get upstairs and downstairs with ease. The bathrooms are comfortable, spacious, and conveniently located. To me, every space felt welcoming and carefully designed and decorated! I loved the variety of artists and art on display. I was impressed with the number of African American artists I ended up learning about. I was just going to enjoy the museum and personally didn't have any expectation of finding a lot of Black artists. So I was pleasantly surprised, and it gave me a sense of pride! We had our lunch at their cafe, which is really a beautiful space. We chose to eat outside because, again, it was nice weather. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and accommodating if there were any needs expressed during the trip to the museum. I recommend locals and out-of-towners visit because you get so much for $14, the price of what some fast food meals almost are, honestly. I would advise several hours to take it in, and I was there two and a half hours but didn't get to the library or children's area downstairs. Neither did I get to shop even though their shop looks like it's fantastic! I will be back to visit again during the Rosetti's exhibit. Five-star experience and I'm thinking about getting a membership for the family.

We visited the Art Museum on a Sunday because Sundays (at least at the moment) are free. It was my first time to the museum and I was pleasantly surprised by the size and scope of the place. They have a lovely sculpture garden outside. We spent about 20 minutes walking through it. Inside there is plenty of impressive art that was created or held by Delaware collectors. We ended up spending about 2 hours perusing it. There is also a very good coffee and sandwich shop, and a gift shop. We really enjoyed our afternoon and will return.

Well-curated collection of art, both historical and contemporary, with a lovely sculpture garden to add to the pleasure. The museum was very quiet on the June Saturday we visited with plenty of space to enjoy the art without crowds or distractions. The cafe, located on the main floor, is small but quite special.

When the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science was closed for an event, my little family drove past the Delaware Art Museum on our way home. With two very disappointed little kids in the car, we thought it was worth a try, and I cannot overstate how impressed I am by the very intentional kid-friendliness of the Delaware Art Museum! We started our adventure in the Cafe because it was cold and rainy, and the kids needed hot cocoa to warm up, and the grownups will never turn down a nice coffee. These drinks were 10/10. The hot chocolate was the perfect temperature for little kids without having to wait or add ice cubes. The mocha latte and the white mocha latte were perfect - just sweet enough, but not at all syrupy, and the latte art was some of the best I've seen outside of Pinterest! The barista who does the latte art should teach classes! The cookies were great, but the macarons were a little too creative for my preschooler's palette. I thought they were delicious, though. To top it off, there was a tiny library full of books for kids of all ages! I LOVED that the kids could flip through a book while we enjoyed our snack, and I'm now disappointed that other cafés don't have little kid libraries! In the basement, there was a perfectly magical room for kids to play in. Everything was made of soft fabric, there was an ENORMOUS toy dog that children are encouraged to climb on and read to, and there was *another* children's library stocked to the brim with beautifully diverse books, bilingual books, books written in Spanish, and books about a few artists. It was truly delightful to snuggle up in the nest and read a book with my big kid while my toddler roamed and climbed. In addition to the deliberate kid spaces, the galleries themselves were welcoming for little ones. No one shushed my big kid as he exclaimed about the beautiful sculptures and talked about his favorite parts of paintings, and there were so many things just at his eye level that he could enjoy. It seemed like there were nearly as many children visiting the museum that rainy afternoon as there were adults! I can't wait to go back and explore the sculpture garden on a nicer day.

Numerous galleries with awesome arts. I loved the sculpture park and labyrinth walk. There is a cafe and I did not tried anything there but looks like the locals love it. There are free admission days from May thru October, so i recommend a visit even if you are not a huge fan of arts.

The museum has many different sections which have a wide variety of different art. There were so many interactive sections that teach us about history as well as many other skills. This place is somewhat kid friendly. This is an amazing museum and I highly recommend it.

La Fia Bistro is a bistro that offers a rotating menu of globally influenced dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Situated in an outdoor seating area, this establishment, owned by Bryan Sikora, former chef/owner of the renowned Talula's Table, is accompanied by Merchant Bar. The kitchen is helmed by James Beard nominated chef Dwain Kalup who creates inventive and seasonal cuisine with an emphasis on sustainability and local produce.
This place was excellent! The food was just exceptional. The drinks were very good and strong. I had the steak and strawberry salad. The meat was cooked perfectly and the flavor profiles just blended nicely. My wife had the ravioli and again it was excellent. We shared the crispy duck plate and that might have been my favorite that night. It was so crispy and had excellent flavor profiles. The plating was also very fancy and really enhanced the look of each dish. I would 100% go there again. It was a nice location in Wilmington only annoyance was parel parking, but that is a me problem!

Traveling through and found this awesome place. Service, drinks and food were amazing. Our small plates were delicious and our entrees were incredible. My lamb shank was off the charts good. Wish we were staying longer to visit them again. It’s a must for fine dining.

We went for the prix fixe Valentine's dinner and the food was phenomenal. We tried some things we hadn't had before, like smoked scallops and gnudi, and it was all just exceptional. My husband's duck was melt in the mouth perfection, best we have ever had. They also had a berry pavlova for dessert which just thrilled us, because it's such a good dessert but it's not common here in the US. This blended the sweet and tart perfectly so it wasn't an overwhelming sugar bomb. Literally our only complaint was the portions. This might've just been because it was a special prix fixe menu, but my fish and my husband's duck breast was maybe 2-3 ounces each; that's an app in my opinion. It felt more like tapas than a main dish. But we'll be back to try more of their regular menu because the quality really was outstanding.

Lovely meal last night here. I rarely preset beef but thought the sirloin was prepared perfectly. White asparagus was also awesome! The staff was also knowledgeable and gracious.

One of the best restaurants in Wilmington. The grilled octopus is absolutely amazing. The duck breast was cooked to perfection. Great drinks, and amazing ambiance.

GET THE DUCK CONFIT!!! This place was sinfully good. Absolutely great ambience, incredible staff, and the food and drinks were amazing!!! Try the naked and famous mezcal drink - incredible blend of flavors. It’s a spirit forward drink but we’ll worth the try. And, as this review is titled, you have to try the duck leg confit - the best duck dish I have ever had. Had it with halibut and cheesecake and the meal was satisfying, not too pricey (Wednesday night prix fixe menu - $40), and left nothing to be desired. Parking may be difficult - I walked from the hotel. This was seriously incredible and a must try if in the Wilmington area!!!

We ordered 4 appetizers, thought to be fulled, but it was tasty I had to try to the duck breast!Id been to Manhattan worlds Top star restaurants, this is at that level. I really like it! Thank you Chef! Very tender, warm, crispy on skin, and not gamey at all it was perfect for me.and the cut is very nice too! Lastly The price is very friendly!I can afford to come back!

I love the food here, they are exquisite and flavorful. But the portions were too small. My husband and I were given a seat near the restrooms, we saw that there were still plenty of empty seats in the restaurant and tried to switch to the seat next to us (which belonged to the same waiter) but he was denied, not sure why. Other than that little hiccup, everything else was fine, the waiters were very good at keeping up with the pace of the food and didn't keep us waiting too long even though they were busy. will back again!

I came here with my party of 5 on a Saturday night, and this was the first visit for all of my guests and myself. We had the latest reservation time of 9:15pm and were also running a few minutes late. To my surprise, we were not rushed at all for our order. The waitress Natasha was very kind, efficient, and attentive. For appetizers we ordered the gem salad, master board, octopus, and roasted maitake mushrooms. Another waitress or food runner took the time to break down all the cheeses, meats, and other items on the master board when delivered which I really appreciated. For entrees we got the wagyu steak, bucatini pasta, and saffron spaghetti. The appetizers and entrees were all delicious. I get steak every time I go out and am mostly disappointed. This steak was cooked perfectly- so tender, and the flavor amazing. Very Unique dishes and ingredients that are all very fresh and tasty. The apple icecream desert was delicious. Again the service was awesome and I really appreciate how patient they were with us being the last table and they’re pretty late. I would go back when I’m back in the area.

Perfect Date Night /Celebration Spot! The Wednesday Night Prix Fix ($40pp) was phenomenal. From the generous portions and attentive service to the strong drinks and cozy atmosphere - we couldn't reccomend La Fia more highly. The house music selection was unexpected, but enjoyable nonetheless. Menu Highlights: - Starters: Duck Confit - Drinks: The Boardroom and Red Samuri - Mains: Braised Pork Shank - Desserts: Yuzu Semifreddo

This place deserves 5 stars! Have been here a few times for the prix fixe tasting menu and everything has been on point every time. The food and drinks were all high quality, no complaints. Cute ambiance, although it can be difficult to find parking so I would recommend to get there early if you have a reservation. I love the decor as well, and murals painted by a local artist. Service was top notch as well. Waitress was intuitive, prompt, helpful, and checking in regularly.

Great food. Great service. Like any place just a step under fine dining, the prices were a bit high while the portions were very small. But the food was very tasty, and they had a lot of interesting dishes. The volume and acoustics made it hard to have a conversation - which made it suboptimal for our anniversary (which is why we were there). But it's still a great little spot.

Fine dining restaurant
Bardea Food & Drink is a contemporary eatery that offers refined Italian cuisine, including pasta dishes and wild boar. This restaurant excels in multiple areas, catering well to both date nights and special occasions. It is recommended to make a reservation in order to indulge in their delectable food choices, complemented by fancy cocktails or selections from their Italian-centric wine list.
My husband and I enjoyed our date night here. The food was delicious! Our waitress, I forget her name but it was her first night and she was great! The fish was seasoned well and melted in our mouth. The burrata pop tart was different and delicious. Our drinks were good, it was a good vibe, and we had a great night. We will be back for more!

Bardea is a force to be reckoned with. Between the steak house, food and drink bar (separate) and the new Italian house they are opening, I’m excited for what they are doing in Wilmington, DE. Went to Food and Drink and man, impressive. I will say, come expecting small portions, but delicious and amazing. Eat slow as we should and you you will be pleasantly full at the end. Enjoy a few different dishes and amazing culinary skills.

Food was amazing. Tasted as it was freshly cooked. I was very impressed. Amazing look, setup and decor. We had a reservation but had to wait for 20 minutes. It was a Friday and they were busy. They knew it was my brother birthday because it was listed on the reservation. Asked about it while we were waiting but by the end they forgot. They did not do anything. Overall amazing food and place. Just being picky but for a Friday it was still an amazing service.

Great ambiance and food, drinks were excellent. Knocking a point off because our server suggested we order 6 items to share between 2 people and we felt this was too much food for us, especially at the price. Notable mention for the burrata pop tart and risotto. Overall, perfect spot for a date night and we will be back.

If there was only one place to go to during your stay, it would be here. You will have a fantastic time surrounded by lively chatter. Always fully packed so prepare to grab a drink by the bar while you wait to get seated. Decor has a lovely old-world charm with lots of character. Food is meant for sharing so order a ton of dishes to try. My fav was the charred octopus and the raw dishes, but really everything was great and service was fantastic. Great place to bring a date or celebrate a special occasion.

Dining at Bardea Food & Drink was nothing short of extraordinary; it effortlessly secured a spot in my top 5 meals. The Italian tapas were a revelation, each dish a symphony of flavors that left a lasting impression on my taste buds. The culinary artistry on display truly elevated the dining experience. Not only did Bardea excel in the realm of Italian tapas, but their wine selection was equally impressive. The curated choices complemented the dishes perfectly, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the meal. The attention to detail in both the food and wine selection showcased a level of sophistication that sets Bardea apart. The ambiance added to the overall charm, creating an atmosphere that was both intimate and lively. The staff's knowledge and passion for the cuisine and wines further enriched the dining experience. Bardea Food & Drink is undeniably a gem, deserving of its place among the top culinary experiences.

This was my first time dining at Bardea and I was impressed. The taste and presentation of each dish was superb. The drinks were unique, fresh and made with precision. The bartender (Zach) was knowledgeable, provided excellent service and we enjoyed all of the drinks that he recommended. This was my first time here but it won't be my last.

Absolutely incredible experience! I came here because of restaurant week and was blown away by the variety. The food was delicious and paired with excellently balanced cocktails. Below is the selection of what I ordered: - grilled avocado (delicious with a lovely tart pineapple side) - meatballs (perfect to share with two, delicious smoky flavor) - two pasta offerings (both well balanced and the pasta Al dente) - blackened salmon with Caesar salad (salmon cooked perfectly, there was a bit more Caesar dressing than I normally use but I liked having the option) A special notice for the desserts. The rocky road flourless chocolate cake was I think the best dessert I've ever had, even including New York offerings. The cake was rich, the mousse light, and the ice cream refreshing. Perfectly balanced. The cheesecake was also delicious, even for someone who doesn't normally enjoy cheesecake. How they made it a ribbon I'll never know, but it was accompanied by a deliciously tart lemon sorbet. Overall incredible, especially our server Ryan. He was perfectly attentative when needed, and even requested the desserts a little early as I'd made a note that I had a show that I needed to make it to after dinner. 12/10 service.

First time at Bardea and I can honestly say that this place is special. I have had the pleasure of experiencing meals at quite a few Michelin Star restaurants around the world and its not an exaggeration to say that the overall experience at Bardea would certainly be worthy of that accolade. We sat at at the bar and ordered a few different items from the appetizers and pastas. First of all, the bartenders were amazing. Attentive and quick to respond even though it was very busy. Cocktails were perfectly mixed and served with genuine smiles. Then the food came and each dish was crafted with passion and creativity. That kitchen is a place where art meets science and its all executed at the highest possible level. Something as simple as an avocado was elevated to a place that will make you want to come back again and again just to get another bite. The pork collar and the octopus were both plates that show the skill level of this chef, each offering a grouping of complex flavors that balanced so well with each other that really showcase how much effort and time went into planning it all out to perfection. I could go on and on about each dish we had and the attentiveness in the way it was all presented and served. We will be back soon to try more of this amazing menu and to see what else this culinary genius comes up with as time goes on.

Appetizers were good! Drinks were good, but their meat was okay. It was very chewy and I wouldn’t recommend it. It was very dry and overcooked. The rest of the food good. Only main course disappointed a lot. I expect their steak would be tender.

Bardea Food & Drink is my team's go-to place for late lunch and early dinner meetings thanks to the phenomenal locally-inspired menu served daily, the quaint and inviting ambience, plus the quick 5-minute walk from our office downtown. We make it a point to visit at least twice a month. Everything from colorful salads to hearty pastas and expertly-seared meats demonstrate culinary finesse. However, the consistent showstopper is the flawlessly cooked salmon salad with bursts of tangy citrus, crisp greens and savory salmon combining ingeniously. You can always tell ingredients are farm fresh! Beyond palate-pleasing food, owners Scott and Cullen drive home that signature welcoming hospitality making everyone feel immediately at ease. Their presence adds so much to the charm and neighborly warmth regulars enjoy. If wanting to treat visiting colleagues, important clients or even yourself to an overall stellar quality meal close by the office - then Bardea Food & Drink should be your timely go-to. Just be aware, once you experience the cooking and hospitality, you'll definitely be back again and again like us!

This was our first time here. We were created at the door by the Maitre D, who took us to our seat at the bar. Told us about the name and their menu. Wow, was he right. We got the Ravioli that had rabbit and chorizo, which was awesome. We also had the Margarita Pizza. The sauce was light and flavorful, and the crust was light and crispy. The staff was tentative. Overall, they paid special attention to each dish served. This was our dessert.. Highly recommend.

Great place for a nice meal. Most of the menu are smaller shareable plates. If you want to just try a couple small things this is a great place to do so, or go for a full sized entree. Really can’t go wrong. Service food and drinks all were great.

DINERS BEWARE: just want to bring this to people attention when we got our bill we found out we got charge a 3% employee benefit fee on our bill in addition to $2 per person water fee. For this 2 reasons alone I would not return to this restaurant. They should of already factor those into the price of the dishes not to added as an added charge to the customer. And if they were to do that they should have a notice on the door not for you to find out when the bill comes. This place is overpriced and overrated. Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. There were 7 of us so we were recommended by our server to order at least 2 of the to share dishes and at least 1 small plate per person. So we ordered a bunch of small dishes to share. The octopus was my favorite. I was pretty disappointed at the pasta dish especially when you claim yourself to be an Italian restaurant I had high expectations on the pasta dishes. I find the portion to be a bit overpriced for the amount of food you get. The pizza was decent. The two to share for the table dish steak $176 for 44 oz which doesn’t look like 44 oz. Looks more like 36 oz to me and fish $135 was just ok. I honestly think the $29 bone in ribeye from Texas Roadhouse taste way better and cost about 1/3 the price per oz than this place. And the fish is nothing special for $135 for 3.5 lb. So if you decide to try out this place don’t waste your $300 on those 2 items. Our server she was amazing and very attentive. She constantly comes by to check on us. I have food allergies they mistakenly gave us one of the small plate that they did not remove the stuff I was allergic to but our server came by and caught it before we started eating and took it back to the kitchen to replace it for us. The restaurant is a cute little restaurant with a great atmosphere. If you are around the area and been thinking of trying this place by all means give it a try but be warned of the overpriced and overhype of the food. I had high expectations of the steak and fish but very disappointed. A few of us left hungry and unsatisfied. For the price we paid I felt we should leave full and satisfied but that wasn’t the case. We would not be returning to this establishment.

Le Cavalier offers elegant French cuisine and fine wine in the formal dining room of a 1913 Italian Renaissance hotel. The remarkable dining area showcases the building's historic charm with its painted ceilings and plush velvet seating. However, what truly captivates visitors are the exceptional French dishes served here. Indulge in delectable options such as poached lobster tails drenched in a creamy, vibrant sauce or savor their tantalizing French onion soup topped with not one but three varieties of cheese.

Mrs. Robino's Restaurant is a traditional Italian eatery located in a restored row house from the 1940s. This charming establishment offers classic red-sauce dishes, such as ricotta-filled ravioli and chicken parmigiana, making it ideal for families seeking a friendly neighborhood dining experience. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes evident that this restaurant is also well-suited for parties.
My grandfather come here when it was 1 unit now 4 and my dad. They call it Momma Robino’s. First time I remember coming here. Bread omg good , had ravioli mix 1/2 cheese 1/2 meat and the meat ball is so good. Bad thing find parking out front or nearby.

I thought this place was nice, but could have been better. No complaints about the pizza, lemonade, or espresso. The only downsides are that there is no individual-sized pizza, no pizza-by-the-slice, and they did not have any raw brown sugar. They only had white sugar and other sweeteners. I like raw, natural sugar in my coffee, especially when I am having a good espresso or cappuccino. Some of the staff were very nice, and others were just so-so. The decor was nice and inviting. Good place overall…

I drove in from out of state to meet up with some friends for dinner here. Our server, Bill, provided excellent service and checked in with us to make sure everything was right. The owner also stopped by to chat with our table and further enhanced our positive dining experience. I loved the crispiness of the chicken on my chicken parmigiana, and the sangria is definitely in my top 5 favorite sangrias I’ve ever had. The cannoli was a perfect way to end my dinner with friends.

Wonderful experience here. The pasta is homemade and fresh, and so filling! Traditional Italian marinara sauce and wonderful sausage and meatballs. The portions are large and worth the price. This was featured on diners drive ins and dives and we did not know that until we got inside the restaurant. I will definitely go back!

Amazing Italian restaurant with great staff and even better ambiance. We went in and were immediately greeted by 3 people and quickly brought to our seats. The wait staff was one of the best i’ve ever had, our waitress was super helpful with recommendations and super bubbly. She immediately got us some waters and bread. The bread was delicious, especially with the 3 different oils on the table. I got what I believe was the tour of Italy. It came with meatballs, homemade pasta, a sausage, a meat ravioli, and a cheese ravioli. The red sauce was amazing and the homemade pasta was delicious. I also got to try to my girlfriends pasta that had white sauce, chicken, and mushrooms. It is genuinely one of the top 5 pastas i’ve had. The sauce was absolutely delicious and everything in the dish worked amazing together. I would go back just to buy another dish of this. Above all, the portion sizes were absolutely massive. I cannot think of the last time I couldn’t finish what I ordered at a restaurant, but Mrs. Robinos had me beat. I only got through about 2/3 of it and had enough for lunch the next day. My girlfriend made 2 more meals out of it. All in all, I had one of the best dining experiences i’ve ever had here and would love to come back. I definitely recommend this place to anyone and hope everyone supports this small business.

We had our rehearsal dinner here on 10/26/23 and we were BLOWN away. The way they took care of us, the setup, the food, etc. our guests couldn’t stop raving about it all. We were able to have a running slideshow of pictures of us through the years, a delicious anti pasta spread for an appetizer to start, and incredible after dinner desserts (including a gluten free option for my mother in law) to end the evening. They truly just went above & beyond to make our rehearsal dinner everything we dreamed of & more. Special thank you to Robyn & Andrea, they truly went above & beyond for us. Andrea even somehow got us white & gold napkins to match our aesthetic a couple hours before us arriving when I hadn’t gotten them. She also made me a specialized menu to put on each persons place setting. It just looked absolutely beautiful. Robinos is a Delaware staple that we’ve been going to for years but I just had to compliment their warm hospitality and how special our rehearsal dinner was. Thank you so much Mrs. Robinos!

Typically, this restaurant is booked in advance with limited walk-in availability but we decided to try our luck and we were able to get a seat that was booked for a later reservation. The hostess was very transparent on this and length for our seating but also accommodating, which we very much appreciated. It ended up being a wonderful night with the comfortably one would get with a reservation. We were so appreciative of the service and hospitality. Above all, the food was amazing! The waiter recommended the chicken course which was nothing short of amazing! This restaurant deserves all the praise and some! Highly recommend!

Snuff Mill is a new Butchery & Wine Bar located in Independence Mall in North Wilmington. We were excited to go. Reservations were about 4 weeks out when we made ours. We were not disappointed. The ambience of the place is really cool. Lots of soft lighting and cool artwork. The food was delicious at every stage. We had the smoked beet salad, braised pork cheeks, filet mignon, and chocolate ganache. Everything was excellent. They also have an exclusive beer from Wilmington Brew Works (an excellent local brewery) brewery just for them, as well as cocktail options, and an extensive wine list. We highly recommend it!

The whole experience was fantastic! The lavender martini was so flavorful and delicious I actually preferred it to my beautiful white burgundy, which never happens! The razor clams were excellent and we asked for a spoon so as not to waste a single drop of the precious sauce. We had the rockfish special, the burger and a steak. All were perfectly prepared. The s’mores presentation and flavor was sinful. I would highly recommend!

Instantly my wife’s new favorite restaurant in New Castle County, and maybe all of Delaware. The atmosphere is exceptional for a Delaware dining establishment, quaint, clean and beautifully decorated. The staff was friendly and attentive, Carmen was great. Very good selection of wine and spirits and of course the food was excellent. The menu is limited but what they offer on the menu, but they appear to do what they offer really well. The Caesar salad was full of flavor and portion was ample. The Steak Frites(Hanger steak and french fries) was flavorful, juicy and seasoned and cooked perfectly.

I would give it a 4 star or 5 if it weren’t the last dish. Everything was perfect until the dessert which I was looking forward to, sticky toffee pudding, after i had a spoon, I realized its dried and seems the chef forgot to put in the sauce, so I talked to the server but then she dismissed me saying ‘ its like that ‘ then at the end we have to finish and pay for the ‘ non-sticky’ toffee pudding , leaving feeling sad. The cocktail with ginger champagne foam was great, Squash salad was great, ‘ that chicken ‘ was great, just not the dessert without sauce 🥲🥲🥲

An Unforgettable Birthday Dinner at Snuff Mill Butchery I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my girlfriend's birthday at Snuff Mill Butchery, and I must say, it was an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. First and foremost, the service was outstanding. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome and well-taken care of throughout the evening. They went above and beyond to ensure that our celebration was special and memorable. The food was simply incredible. We both ordered steaks, and they were cooked to perfection – tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It's evident that Snuff Mill Butchery takes great pride in the quality of their meat and their preparation techniques. The sides and accompaniments were equally impressive, complementing the main course beautifully. One of the highlights of the evening was trying the vodka truffle martinis. These unique cocktails were a delightful surprise, showcasing the restaurant's creativity and attention to detail. The combination of smooth vodka and rich truffle was a match made in heaven. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm, inviting, and perfect for a special occasion. The decor was elegant yet comfortable, and the lighting created a romantic and intimate atmosphere. Overall, our experience at Snuff Mill Butchery was nothing short of perfect. From the exceptional service to the mouthwatering food and unique cocktails, every aspect of the evening exceeded our expectations. It was the ideal setting for a memorable birthday celebration, and we can't wait to return for another fantastic meal. I highly recommend Snuff Mill Butchery to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience.

This is another small but awesome restaurant. It is all farm fresh and very tasty. We tried what they call the smoke show. The flavor and smoke taste was good. Our meals were delicious, but they did forget the asparagus on one of our plates. The bass was also tasty and cooked to perfection. Truffled cream corn was okay. Definitely would recommend for a good diner. The best part if you liked the cut, you had they sell the meat right there to take home.

It was alright. Food was good but it was definitely loud in there. The whole atmosphere was a bit weird. I would give it another shot though. Server was pretty nice. They use and reuse the confetti for celebrations which seemed funny but is resourceful I guess!

We took my mom here for her birthday and it was such a special experience! Dory and the entire team took excellent care of us. The intimate space felt warm and inviting. We LOVED the food and can't wait to come back. Everything -- 10/10.

Snuff Mill is an excellent long awaited dining addition to the Wilmington restaurant scene. Robert is an excellent chef. The details are fine tuned and it’s a great place for the true foodie. Every thing is exquisite from the decor to the experience to the food. Every meal has exceeded our expectations. Also always a fun night out and a place to see and be seen.
