Wood Lake Nature Center

Mentioned on
Nature preserve
Sights & Landmarks
Wood Lake Nature Center is a beautiful and easily accessible nature preserve that offers wildlife viewing through various habitats along trails and a floating boardwalk. Although some sections border the highway, it's still a peaceful retreat to explore. The center hosts organized events such as candlelight New Year's Eve walks. However, dogs are not allowed in the area, so visitors must plan accordingly if they wish to visit.
We came on an unusually warm day in February. It was 62° and beautiful. I remember coming here as a child with my mother and enjoying the cat tails. Seeing my children get excited over them too was a lot of fun. We really enjoyed walking across the bridge that spans the lake and circling around the park. There are several benches to stop and rest if you get tired. I loved seeing the big trees in the woods. There were many ducks and geese in the water. There are porter potties in the parking lot if you need a restroom. It was a fun walk down memory lane.

Beautiful nature area hidden in plain sight. This place is very easy to get to, just off of 35W. There are a few sections that border the highway, which is fine in the summer but likely becomes much more apparent in the winter when the tree lose their leaves. We attended a nice candlelight New Years Eve event that was well organized and pleasant. The only downside is that now our dog determines where we walk, and dogs are not allowed here.
Peter Goldberg — Google review
Lovely lake with something very unique offerings- a boardwalk that traverses right over the center of the lake for gorgeous views, and a nature center with exhibits, outdoor seating, rentable spaces and more. This is not your run of the mill MN lake. They have put a lot of effort in to create something different than expectations. Definitely worth stopping by for a walk, run, picnic, or to check out the nature center.

Very nice trail , right in middle of Richfield. Lots of bird species. Easy trail good for beginners They also have a wooden bridge, which gives a nice view of the entire nature center The center was closed when we went so did not get a chance to go inside Overall a good hiking spot if you are in the area

Beautiful!! My dad used to bring us here when we were kids, forgot how beautiful this place is!

This place is beautiful, there was a lot of wildlife to see here. There's a small park on the trail as well for children . It was also nice and quiet, my kids enjoyed going for a walk here. The floating bridge was cool, we saw a huge snapping turtle by their. There was also a building that you can go into with some live animals, books, games, Information, bathrooms, and water fountains to refill on the go.
Danielle — Google review
Such a neat place. Lots of birds on the lake amazing views and floating walkways. The ducks are tame and love just hanging out. So many different species of birds and turtles roaming around. Trails are well kept and beautiful walk around!

This is always a perfect walk...lots of trails, water, trees...easy walking paths. Just gorgeous and never crowded. They also have a nature center for people to learn especially children. Easy parking. Went 4/27 for the sunrise...updated my photos.. still 10/10

The interactive museum is really nice with lots of interesting exhibits. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The walking trails are well maintained with plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy nature. Be sure to wear good shoes, the longest trail is a pretty good hike. The picnic area has ample seating, good shade, and is well maintained.

Wonderful place to walk sometimes there's beavers, deer ,foxes. In the city but it feels like you're in the woods. They have a lot of activities for kids which is wonderful. I love walking here and meeting wonderful people is lots of beautiful birds and great place to take beautiful pictures. They put a new bridge in across the water last year which is very nice and very safe. Beautiful place to go enjoy. It's great place to also go when it's very windy because the trees when the they are in bloom keeps the wind away. In the summer also very beautiful saw turtles ducks with their babies. Such a beautiful scenery. ☺️ great for the sunsets.

Love the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Great lake to walk for the scenery, to read, draw, anything that takes you to a peaceful place, you'll find that here.

Fun & Games
Wheel Fun Rentals at Veterans Memorial Park offers a variety of outdoor activities, including bike rentals and mini golf. The park features scenic walking paths and a charming mini golf course set amidst lush greenery and shade. While the mini golf course may not be perfectly maintained, it provides a fun and friendly neighborhood experience. Visitors can also enjoy delicious ice cream treats while exploring the park's beautiful surroundings.
We stopped by for some mini golf and had a great time. Next time I'd like to rent one of their bikes and go for a ride in the park. Customer service was great too.

It's a beautiful course. There's a ton of trees and water. However, a lot of the holes are poorly designed. On one of the holes there isn't even a level surface to start from. I had to use a wood chip to "tee off". Atmosphere 10/10, playability/fun 7/10.
Liz L — Google review
Fun place, a weekday and it's not busy I was the only one mini golfing sign up for emails and you get coupons and then even a free ice cream treat if you like golf. Very nicely set up mostly in the shade. Enjoy 😊 Now they're only open Saturday and Sunday until the end of September how sad and they have the best ice cream also oh I said that before. Walking paths around it are nice .

Had a great time here. Fun quick time playing mini golf. They serve ice cream here as well! Pleasant workers at the little pavilion.
Sam Busacker — Google review
Fun place for family fun or group fun! Place was one of the best mini golf places I’ve been to.Each hole was unique in its own way.
Andy Esteban — Google review
Overall, this place is darling and we had a blast on our mini-adventure! The food was fine - pre packaged sandwiches on a griddle and malts - and the course wasn’t the most well kept. However, it is exactly what you expect from a local, neighborhood driven mini golf course! Everyone was SO friendly and we did have a wonderful time!
Rachel Herr — Google review
Poorly designed course, nothing is flat to tee off on. Ball is usually up against the concrete walls. Everything is sloped to go to the walls and stay there. Holes weren't deep enough so ball wouldn't always stay in the cup. Some holes were okay, but usually you ended up against the wall. Played other courses that were fun and challenging. This course wasn't that fun, same curved areas and dips to make you challenged but needed different challenges. Beautiful location and shaded in most areas to keep you cool. Should have had water and benches for people to sit and wait for groups ahead of you. Malt shop was slow and under staffed. Should use the second doorway to deliver food and drinks to keep people from crowding around the same spot.
Cherokee Golf — Google review
I went here for the first time recently, and it was incredibly disappointing mini-golfed. Debris on the course, slopes that you can't get your ball to stay out of, open gaps behind the holes and many holes you can't even get your ball to stay still when just trying to “tee off” at the beginning of each hole. I would not recommend this course. I couldn't get off the course and gone quick enough.
Peter Dahlberg — Google review
Went with a happy family - slightly disappointed at the cost, but still, it looks lovely and it’s a great day. Wrong o’ reindeer. The courses, while being nicely located and shaded, we’re the most frustrating time I’ve ever had ‘golfing’. Everyone got frustrated by the time we reached hole 4 and it was almost painful completing the course. The balls won’t sit still at the T off areas (we resorted to using some of the detritus on the ‘green’). The concrete barriers are terribly placed, and the levels around both the holes and the ‘fairway’ led the ball to roll to the concrete bumper edges more than 9/10 times. When you try to pull the ball away from the wall to hit it again, it just rolls back to the wall. The carpet is so worn, that even trying to push the ball down hard into it, won’t stop the ball running away at some of the Ts. My son got upset and the ‘winner’ on each hole seemed to be who could do the best slap shot. The ‘round again’ price has gone up to $5, but that won’t be an issue to anyone who has actually played, as they will never want to play there again. What was supposed to be the high point of a day taken off work with the family became a low I don’t want to remember. I really wish I had read the reviews before I parted with the $24 for the three of us. Conversely, the children’s play area just next to it is ace (and free). It is a real shame that the mini golf is such a letdown, as with a bit of care and resurfacing, this could be a great fun adventure for a family. Until that happens, just say ‘NO’.

My children and I love coming here in the summer. Great affordable food. It’s just a few miles from her home in south Minneapolis. Easily accessible to other foods and shops in the neighborhood and highways. Kind staff. And their lifeguards really play close attention to all adults and children alike.
Molly Manor — Google review
Such a fun kids pool area with slides and a variety of water features! I love that there are free life jackets available so that the little ones can stay afloat in the big pool.
Jessie Shapiro — Google review
For one adult and one child it was $20. It was extremely crowded even though it was a cloudy day, and there were not enough chairs for everybody. People had to put towels down on the grass and it just doesn't seem like they care about customer service. My child enjoyed swimming whileI sat in a chair. A hot dog chips and soda combo is $6. In other places it may only be half this price. It wasn't expensive experience for something that was not so great.
Leika Schmidt — Google review
Nice clean, well staffed. Could use more shaded areas
Robert Jensen — Google review
Pool is nice, when I showed up there was a sign that stated they were only accepting cash, so we piled back into the car to run to the atm. By the time we got back to the pool, the cash only sign was gone, so that was a bit annoying. I will say that the 15 minute mandatory "safety breaks" are so silly in my opinion. I understand that the lifeguards need breaks as well, but that means more staff should be hired. I don't go to the pool to sit on a chair for 25% of my time there.
Adrianna Strong — Google review
Great place to relax and have fun. Plenty of space and attentive lifeguards. The waterslides are a blast! Cheap way to spend a hot day.
Katie Kay — Google review
been here plenty of times but my last visit out did the rest..if your kids aren’t the best swimmers don’t suggest to bring them here.. lifeguards just sit around and watch.. my kid was drowning my friend had to go in & get him. to the lifeguards discretion he wasn’t though.. his head was below water & clearly struggling to come up.. supervisor was no help of course she backed the lifeguard but hadn’t my friend been there it would have just been apologies and tears from staff.
Ja,michael — Google review
Took my kids here over the summer on a pool pass. They enjoy this pool and has three large swimming areas, diving boards, and one large tube. I would recommend for summer activities.
Liz B. — Google review
Great place to swim laps. Pool is well maintained and just got a new paint job on the lane lines. The two big slides were fun. The kiddie area was fun for the whole family. We'll definitely be back.
CT Neal-Herman — Google review
Bring your own towels and locks for lockers if you want. There are chairs and limited over large umbrellas for shade. You have to pay if you go, even if you're not going to swim. The bathrooms are not the nicest, but they're typical public bathrooms. There is a zero entry splash pad for little ones and a very large lap pool that goes from 3ft 3in to at least 6ft deep (I didn't go to the other end, it's huge 😅). There are a ton of lifeguards and they pull everyone out of the pools every so often for safety and to run drills. We had a blast in the splash pad with a one year old. It's only shallow for the first foot or so and goes to about 2ft deep. So, not a lot of space for a tiny person to play independently, but still a good time. It was pretty busy when we went on a hot, summer weekday, so I gotta imagine it's nuts on the weekends. Get there early to get a spot in the shade. Will be back.

Nice ice arena and mostly I love the high bar stool style seating vs having to sit on bleachers! Temperature inside was comfortable as I was not doing the usual shivering. Signs directing to rink 1 and 2 were clearly marked along with location to locker rooms.
Traveling Smith — Google review
Great rink! Warm for the parents. Only vending machines, no concessions. Kids had to go up stairs to get to locker room which is inconvenient with all the hockey baggage.
Kelly Gahlon — Google review
Really enjoyed this youthful hockey game and my nephew Leon was killing it on the ice. The entire family had a wonderful time watching the game !

Nice multiple sheet facility.
Jeremy Gesicki — Google review
Aside from being busy, the open skating was a great place to bring my new-to-skating kiddo. They have skating supports, so my little guy could learn without hanging on me the whole time :). They require masks, so I felt safe amidst the pandemic. We even got to see the big kids playing hockey on the other rink once we were done with our skating.
Rachel Peterson — Google review
Very clean well arranged arena, has lots of seating and tables for you yo enjoy a game.
jose martinez — Google review
Rink itself is very nice but I just went there to get my skates sharpened today and there must have been 100 people in the lobby and not a single person in the front desk area. There's no bell to ring or any way of knowing who works there, so after waiting 15 minutes I left annoyed that I drove there.
Aaron Barnhart — Google review
My son attended a birthday party here and had a great time. The arena itself is perfect for open skating or hockey activities.
Jonathan Aurand — Google review
Very nice arena, ample parking, and the restrooms are large enough to accommodate the crowd.

A great area a that actually has skate sharpening and concessions. Fun place to play.

Restaurant
Covid had shuttered it fir 2 years but it is now open and food services are available. Hours for the lounge are not optimal yet but attached restaurant is open early for morning flights. Menu has many options with amole drink choices. For me favorite is their Waffles. However I would like to mention Lisa who serves there. She is amazing compassionate person and we have been so lucky to meet her twice in last two visits. People like her make the world a better place. I am not a golfer and use this lounge as part of Priority Club benefits. I recommend this lounge.
Arun Singh — Google review
Love this place! Have a ton of golf Sims and serve up a ton of great food with drinks! Huge wraparound practice green that's open to putt on any time.
Jon Ross — Google review
Priority pass gets you in with a $15 voucher that can be used for food, drinks or golfing activity. I got the roast beef sandwich with au jus and fries $18. It was tasty. I got a water to drink, which was never refilled. They charged a service fee, which was not a tip. Of course I gave a 20% tip on the total, even though I received no real service. I was dying of thirst. I think they should at least have a water station so guests can get some water. I only saw 1 bathroom and it was clean. It’s your only option for priority pass. It was fine to sit and do some work before my flight.
Kim S — Google review
Great spot to come to during a layover if you have priority pass. The Buffalo chicken salad is really tasty although the side of sweet potato fries seemed a little over cooked. Overall, good vibe and to get the fastest service definitely sit at the bar.
Sarah Dokowicz — Google review
This lounge accepts priority pass. It was a unique experience since they also have a golf practice kind of a setup inside. The priority pass gives you 15$ worth of credit which you can utilize to pay for golf game or food. In terms of food they do have good options, a couple of vegetarian options as well. The service is amazing here and staff is quite friendly.
Kirti Parekh — Google review
We stopped by the PGA lounge because we had a 2 hour layover. We enter with our Priority Pass, which they give you $15 vouchers for the food which was not bad. We ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, Chicken wings, mushroom Swiss burger, and the soup and salad combo. The food was pretty good and came out quick. The service from the front desk to the food service was just excellent. Such friendly and kind staff, made everything was all right and wish us safe travels when we departed. There was a lounge area with the mini golf and bar, and also the Resturant sit down area. Which is located on the edge of the mall in the airport.
Annie P — Google review
I didn’t realize this was there and that Priority Pass was accepted until I looked up and saw this place on the 2nd floor. I’ve been going through MSP for over 1 year and I missed this. Would be great to have a sign that’s more visible outside of the immediate area. With your Priority Pass you are allowed up to 2 guests and each person gets a $15 voucher for food or golf experience. They open at 8am and close at 8pm Monday-Friday and 8am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday. Nice way to get some exercise and respite from traveling.
karina k — Google review
Solid lounge. I checked it out since it was the only one with Priority Pass in MSP. It's different than other lounges I've been to in that it's basically a normal restaurant and they give you a $15 voucher to spend there (or on the golf simulators). Most menu items were of course over $15, but I ended up getting the chips and guacamole which was $14.95. After taxes and tip I paid less than $5 which was a good deal in my eyes. The chips and guac were great. They also came with salsa which I did not like at all.
Ethan Shoe — Google review
The staff in the lounge was unprofessional, rude, and not hospitable at all, especially one by the name of Gallant. I would never treat anyone like the way I was treated. I visited this past week, and it was the worst experience I've ever been treated before. I come to this lounge frequently when I travel. The fries and NO chicken sanwich were cold, but It was a clean environment. I asked for a manager and was told he was in a meeting but to write a review. SMH, PLEASE DO BETTER! I pay a membership just like anyone else.
Tatiana Pernell — Google review
I like this lounge a lot. Fun hitting balls, food is solid, priority pass affiliation is great But charges like this are a joke. Hospitality charge? Poorly disclosed (if at all) before the bill, prices are already high and this screws servers
Keeler Colin — Google review
The PGA Golf Experience Lounge at the airport offers a unique concept of combining golf and dining, but unfortunately, my recent visit left me somewhat disappointed. One aspect that stood out was the steep pricing of their food. Even considering the inflated prices often found at airports, the menu at the PGA Golf Experience Lounge seemed excessively overpriced. The voucher provided with the Priority Pass, valued at $15, proved to be insufficient to cover most items on the menu. It felt as though the main intention behind offering the Priority Pass voucher was to entice customers to visit the lounge, only to discover that they would need to pay extra out of pocket to enjoy a full meal. This approach left a sour taste in my mouth, as it gave the impression of deceptive advertising. While the concept of combining a golfing experience with dining is intriguing, the execution fell short in terms of value for money. The lounge could benefit from reevaluating their pricing strategy to align with customer expectations, particularly considering the limited options available within airport terminals. In conclusion, unless you have a strong interest in combining golf and dining, or if you simply have extra cash to spare, I would recommend exploring other dining options at the airport that offer better value for your money.
Sam — Google review
First time in Minnesota, first time visiting this lounge! They were at capacity when we arrived so we had to wait a few minutes before entering. We were given a voucher and sat at a high table for two against the windowed wall. The whole space felt clean, and moderately noisy (tvs + a family with young children playing on the green). We simply stopped by to eat and rest before our flight. The food was good, very comforting, and our server was kind enough to pack it up when we realized we’d need to leave earlier than planned. All in all, nice lounge!
Orizema — Google review
This doesn't give me lounge vibes. This is a restaurant/bar. Its EXTREMELY expensive. My deluxe grilled cheese cost $19.50. They give you a $15 voucher if you have the priority lounge pass. Food comes out fast. My cheese was melted and bread was toasted nicely, however the Avocados were just thrown in chunks inside and the raw tomatoes were also just weirdly sliced and thrown in there. The tomato soup was the best thing about this dish. They have a good selection of wines (decent prices). They also have beer, cocktails. Service was bad. They are friendly but the etiquette is different. My server threw my license on the table like she threw most of my stuff. The atmosphere just isn't comfy to me. It's not a place you spend hours at like most other airport lounges. They do have an area where you could hit a golf ball (i believe you have to pay but not 100% sure). This airport needs a real lounge for priority pass members. Other than the United lounge, this is the only option. Update-came back & same experience. Bad service. Even worse food this time. Food comes out so fast, I'm pretty sure its microwaved. Breakfast crossiant sandwich costs $16.50. All meals cost more than $15, that way you owe money after using the voucher. Theres better food outside. Don't bother coming here.
Komal P — Google review
Priority pass . Gives $15 voucher. Cozy seats, good wifi and ranges for rent and complimentary putting green area. Buffalo chicken salad was $16 and pretty damn good.
Alexander K — Google review
Service really made this experience much better than I was expecting. Prices are reasonable, especially if you have Priority Pass as you get a voucher for food as well as complimentary snacks / drinks. Servers were attentive and friendly. Made for an enjoyable layover spot.
