Boat tour agency
The Maine Maritime Museum offers historical artifacts, demonstrations, and cruises that showcase the Kennebec River's shipbuilding tradition. The museum features paintings, models, and interactive exhibits that tell the story of seafaring over 400 years. Additionally, visitors can witness a working wooden-boat shipyard in the on-site Percy & Small Shipyard that is preserved by the museum. Outdoor exhibits related to shipbuilding require appropriate attire for viewing.
This was an amazing museum to see the history and documentation on Shipbuilding in Maine. Many model ships, lighthouse exhibit, engine works, plus you have all the original buildings that were used to plan, fabricate, and build ships. It was a real eye opener for lobster fishing is a dedicated building. As well as the had a remarkable painters exhibit, Arthur Beaumont. His watercolors are breathtaking. Allow plenty of time to explore as there is much to see and walk too. Strollers would be fine outdoors with ease. Wheelchairs if not motorized may have some difficulties in areas.

We did the museum tour, which I think is a good thing to do BEFORE going around and looking at the rest of the museum. It was helpful to start with an understanding of the history of the business and shipyard. The preservation of the buildings all these years is remarkable, and kids should have plenty of entertainment during their visit. There are lots of smaller indoor exhibits, like the lobstering exhibit that are interesting for learning about the modern fishing industries.

We should have gotten an earlier start…so much fabulousness to take in! We spent a little time inside the main building and then it was time to take the boat trip up the Kennebec past the Bath shipyard with two guides keeping us informed of the history of shipbuilding in Bath and pointing out what we were seeing around us…wonderfully done by these guides. After docking we did visit 2 of the original buildings on site and plan to return later in the week to continue taking in all the exhibits. It is a first class museum!

We were in Bath, ME in October. It was a side trip which my friend resisted. "Shipbuilding!?? Blah, Boring". However, I was driving so she literally "came along for the ride". Blah, boring couldn't be further from the truth. Bath, ME had a very important role in building ships, perfecting design. There are over 20,000 items in this collection. You get an education in what's involved in building a ship. There are also Guided Tours, boat tour on the river, many demonstrations. Wooden shipbuilding is fundamental to this area of Maine. Maine has more to offer than just spectacular Parks, Lobster & Fall Colors. Bath offers another perspective on this stunning state. Interesting town too with some great restaurants.

The Maine Maritime Museum is an amazing, unexpected pleasure and is definitely worth a stop on any trip to Bath. I'm guessing if you live in Bath, this is a must for anyone who has kids or loves boats as well. This is a nice sized campus with a main museum building with a bunch of exhibits and a bunch of other buildings which take you through the process of building a schooner. November of 2022 is free admission which was a very nice surprise, but even regular admission is worth the price (this is one of the few museums left on earth where kids up to high school age can actually get in free!) The staff is amazingly nice and knowledgeable. The location is basically perfect with a wonderful setting right on the river. This is a museum that is someplace I'll never forget and it is well worth a visit!
slibocker — Google review
It is a perfect museum to visit if you are remotely interested in maritime history or that of Maine's. Great exhibits throughout the property that are engaging for visitors.
Jim Weakland — Google review
Excellent museum. Very informative, and situated right on the river. Some of exhibits on shipbuilding are outside so dress appropriately. In the parking lot there is a little building that has a film about Bath Iron Works. It's very cool and a must see.

We had an amazing experience on the Autumn Lights Cruise! We capstoned our honeymoon with this experience. We did book ahead of time, and we’re thankful we did as it appears to have been full. Although we did not partake, there were light snacks and refreshments (including coffee) available for purchase. The crew were kind, friendly, and informative. They shared local history, landmarks (of course focusing on the river lighthouses), and wildlife. We feel very fortunate that we were able to see 2 eagles, countless seals, and many other waterfowl! The seals were so cute popping up and checking out what us tourists were doing! The fog rolled in and we were worried it would ruin our views but actually cast a really cool vantage point over the river! This hopefully a helpful tip - our cruise docked and we left the museum around 5:45 so we just recommend accounting for a little leeway around the 5:30 end of cruise if you’re making dinner reservations. We didn’t have dinner booked until 7:20 so we weren’t in a rush! We talked about doing another tour with them on subsequent trips to Maine! Thank you so much!
Jenna Franseen — Google review
This was the BEST! The museum is wonderful, hands on and interactive. Great for ages 2-102! The outdoor displays, buildings and cruise were incredibly fun and educational! Can't wait to go back!
Tanya Mace — Google review
Very interesting. The downside was that, despite opening at 9:30am, there were a number of things not yet open (or operational), like the Donnell house (opened at 11am) and many of the video monitors.
Daniel Marciante — Google review
The Maine Maritime Museum was so much more than I expected. There are 6 working buildings on 3 or 4 acres that are in daily use building, restoring and displaying historical boats. Includes a blacksmith shop, sail loft, carpentry shop, boat displays the list goes on. The main museum is an incredible display of maritime history, historical pictures, ship parts, maritime stories, maritime trailblazers and the building and use of ships for centuries. You don't have to love ships to love this museum. A ticket allows 2 days to see everything... and you'll need it.. AND there are cruises that show the Kenebec River and historical points of interest.
Don Moore — Google review
Very well set up museum ,always a nice experience.

Super friendly, super knowledgeable folks cruising you along the Kennebec River showing off lighthouses, wildlife (bald eagles) and the Bath Iron Works. Very cool museum as well. Recommended during a visit to Bath.
Matthew Hurley — Google review
This museum is a gem for adults and children, would recommend visiting when out buildings are open for touring.
Steve Dallas — Google review
A must-see on the Maine coast. The main building has thoughtful, informative exhibits, well-placed to make the most of a small-medium space. It's artful as well, with rotating displays. The curators are obviously talented. There are also a half dozen out buildings with lots of info about shipyard functions, a 2-story Lobsterman museum, and even a playground. The two best parts are the full size minimalist statue of the tall ship, Wyoming (be sure to take the free tour or listen to it on an app), and the boat tour of the harbor (extra $$, but worth it). Use the very clean bathrooms or have some refreshments on the on-premesis food and snack shack. A nice way to spend an informative and delightful short afternoon. Plenty of parking. Gift shop is very good.

Saw a musical there with surprisingly excellent talent from the community. The live musical accompaniment was flawless. The price of the ticket didn't reflect the quality. Next door Chocolate Church art gallery had a first rate pottery show to which i made a return visit.

I was in awe the first time visiting the Chocolate Church. It is an absolutely beautiful building, inside and out. I have now been a few times and have enjoyed every visit! They have a few snacks and refreshments available for purchase at a table. The seats are comfortable, the staff is friendly and helpful.

I had a wonderful time seeing plaza suite here! It was in the annex on the new black box set. It was an intimate set and a wonderful experience. Everyone there was very kind, I went to the wrong door and was totally turned around but they helped me get in and get my seat! It was a great play and a great space, I will be back!

This really is Pemiquid Point. One of my favorite places on earth. Views of surf, wildlife, rocks and of course the lighthouse is incredible. As with anything worthwhile, the drive is not short. Many improvements to the location have been made over the years.

I have only been out to the island once but I always like to look at it from the beach. My great great great grandfather Edwin M. Wyman was the assistant lighthouse keeper from 1886-1889!

Unexpected surprise stop on the way up the coastal highway. Very knowledgeable volunteers, lots of history, and amazing to see the rebuild of the boat in progress! And they had a restroom which many boondoggle stops don’t have. We parked by the Elks Lodge for a fun photo op.

Great experience for the family, school group, or homeschoolers, as well as those who are interested in shipbuilding. Maine’s First Ship is endeavoring to build a replica of the Virginia, a 30 tonne pinnace that was originally constructed in 1607 Popham Colony, making it the first “known” or recorded English built vessel in the United States. Their are limited hours so be sure to check their website! Go on the right day and they may be working on the ship! Small selection of artifacts from the Popham colony as well as a diorama!
Troy Ancona — Google review
Stopped in to visit the Virginia, such interesting history. The dedicated volunteers were so knowledgeable and very helpful. I enjoyed learning about the history of ship, along with the work done to create the replica. There was no entry cost, just recommend a donation, as this is all run by volunteers.
Candace Steeves — Google review
Thank you to the lady that took her time and telling us about this beautiful ship
Bessie Daniels — Google review
The docent was weird, but Maine-weird, so it totally worked. He knew a lot about the history of the early colonies, and he was a woodworker and shipwright, so he was able to answer all the questions we had. The only problem is that they are not licensed to allow visitors to actually set foot on the boat, and that does kind of detract from the primary reason for likely anyone visiting this site. You can go out and get a close look (supervised), but I would have liked to go below deck, or even just ON deck. Still worth checking out, especially since it’s a free, donations-based museum. And it’s a great add-on to anyone visiting the Maine Maritime Museum a few miles away. Plus, if you’re into wood working and ship building, they can always use volunteers, and volunteers ARE allowed on the boat.
Brandon Lee — Google review
Very cool wooden ship reconstruction from 1607 being built and everyone can visit close up!
Roger Barry — Google review
This is a very cool place for a certain type of person to visit. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if it's your thing -- there is a carpenter actively working on the boat, and you can walk right up and ask questions. You get to basically walk through their workshop and there is a ton of information on the history involved. It's pretty small, but if you're into it you could spend a while here. Very impressive. And there's a great view of the river.
Sara Tinsley — Google review
Very cool piece of local history, reconstructed. It's in the water now but you can't go on deck. Upside there is tons to see in the freight shed, you can look at the Virginia from the dock, and everyone there is so excited to share the experience with you. Loved it!

Dog park

Parks
This park is huge, and amazing in the summer since it has a little beach the dogs can use to swim in the river. They even plow the walking path in the winter so it's easily accessible all year long. There are usually a bunch of dogs there, and the owners are nearly all friendly and respectful in the behavior and clean up of their dogs. We always have a great time!
Megan Kalinoski — Google review
Our Poppy pup absolutely loves this dog park! We love it as well! It is a beautiful park that we had discovered a year before we got our puppy, when we were seeking out a location to fish from land that was easily accessible and had parking. So when we adopted our Poppy and sought to socialize her we started exploring dog parks....this one has been our favorite go to even if it's a bit further from our house, well worth the extra drive! It does get muddy and holds some water but we have seen an abnormally high amount of rain this past summer, fall and even so far this winter!
Jennifer Wurfel — Google review
Not usually a fan of dog parks, but this alone was great. The dogs were calm, there are a number of great spots to sit. It's right beside the river with beautiful views!
Tori Penney — Google review
This is an off leash dog park. This is for dogs to play and to enjoy running and playing. Do not bring your little kids under 6 and expect that they won't get barked at. Don't throw your toy to your dog unless you expect other dogs may want it. Yes, there's people that leave there dogs poo on the ground...because they are not paying attention. You have all types of owners that will bring their dog(s) on the weekend...expect the the good and the bad ones.
MR. Allen — Google review
Always an amazing time. People are always friendly. Dogs love to play and get along great. Was disappointed the area where my dog likes to go swim was gated off

Beautiful view! Super clean place for your dog.. when they say voice control if off leash... please listen. There is open water, and if your dog does not listen... well.... nice paved path to walk on.. big space for dogs to run. No bells or whistles, but it's so nice.

If you are looking for fresh seafood look no further.. this place has fresh delicious seafood👌 You can sit inside or dine outside on the dock and watch the boats drive by.. very nice place, great atmosphere, clean, polite and tasty with a great view. Mostly have seafood but they also have some delicious cheeseburgers aswell. Their coleslaw and haddock is the best I've had yet.

Kennebec Tavern,Bath Maine, stopped by Kennebec because we wanted something different other than lobster, the loaded nachos was good but the lettuce should not be added to nachos since toppings are warm then the lettuce get wilted, there were no avacado and wish there were more seasoning added. Also had a cup of chili, nice concept with chunks of beef but again lacking in flavor, the cheeseburger with mushrooms was lacking in flavor, fish and chip was adequate, it would go a long way if the cook uses salt/pepper while cooking to enhance food flavors. The chicken breast sandwich was overcooked and again lacking in flavor, side of potato salad was disappointing, it was doused in mayo,a little goes a long way. Today customer go to restaurants that are consistent in flavor, perhaps this was a miss day for Kennebec. $$$

Food is absolutely delicious and flavorful. The atmosphere here at night is so peaceful with the candles lit and the light music. It is perfect for a quiet date night. I’ve had both the lobster linguini, and the maple peach salmon. My husband has had the tavern macaroni and cheese, as well as the southwestern black bean burger (he’s a vegetarian). He also has enjoyed the meals here.

This is a very chill place for a warm, tasty meal. The service was delivered quickly with a smile. Candida is top notch. I had the fish Peta with avocado tartar sauce over thai peanut coleslaw. Smoked tomato soup was rich and delicious. Small Greek salad was well balanced and delicious. Cocktails are Large. 5 of 5 forks. Cheers!

Parking is limited but great for a Friday and Saturday night crowd. Restaurant is on the water so you get some really great views. Service was fantastic, the ladies there were super friendly and had such a great vibe, smiles and good all around happiness! Very nice to have when dining out. My husband and I ordered the seafood platter and the 3 course meal (Italian theme) which is called Passport To Flavor. I highly recommend that! * Ask wait staff for menu Food came out fast, hot and delicious. The appetizer was very tasty and great for sharing. The shrimp alfredo was super scrumptious! The alfredo was thick, creamy and had a beautiful flavor. The shrimp was tossed in some kind of lemon with herbs and it went well with my meal. The seafood platter was also very tasty and the fried batter was perfect; not too soggy, not too breaded, not too burnt, just right. We finished off with pistachio cannoli's and that was soooo good! I recommend coming here for a great meal, great views and a night of fun with some friends!

This place was great!!!! We had a table outside right by the water and it was such a great view and the food was great. I had the crab roll with fries and I had zero complaints about the food! There were large, supple pieces of crab and it had such a good, fresh flavor. The fries were hot and crispy. For sure 10/10 for the food. The only thing was that we were waiting at the front for a table for like 30+ minutes because the hostess had to go clean each table prior to sitting the customers. But they were busy, so it's not that big of a deal. For sure would eat here again! Loved it and totally recommend it to anyone in the area.

Very enjoyable experience! Our waiter was very friendly and efficient, taking our orders and frequently checking on us; dishes were all tasty and perfectly seasoned - clam chowder, haddock sandwich, haddock filet, and mac & cheese. Highly recommend this fine local restaurant!

The perfect side of the road lobster roll /seafood Maine experience. The Lobster rolls are market price, and about the same as everywhere else. We also had the clams and clam chowder, which were also perfect. You can also get whole lobster meals, local jarred fruits and condiments, and ice cream at the other little "shacks" on the large deck (great river view!). Be sure to check out the history displays, too. Great service. Cash only.

I was disappointed with the hostess. She was busy, but rather than acknowledge people waiting she just ignored the people in line time after time. We got seated after a little wait and chose the outdoor patio. The view of the Kennebec River is beautiful! Ordered the spinach artichoke dip and crabcakes to share with my mother and two raspberry spiked lemonade. We were not disappointed. Everything was cooked perfect and was very tasty. Kylie, our waitress, was a lovely young lady and made sure we had everything we needed. She was patient with my grandparents and was very sweet. She made sure our experience was perfect!

My friend and I decided to try the Tavern for dinner after she arrived in Maine for the first time. My sister recommended we stop here even though I had misgivings after reading so many of the negative reviews. We are so glad we did! The service was excellent & fun and the food was delicious! I do wish I would have ordered an appetizer though. Her burger & my Greek Scallops were excellent!! We would definitely order again

Staff was so friendly -- great service and experience. We ordered the lobster tortellini and clam chowder. We also shared mussles as an appetizer. Food was good and came out hot. The tortellini needed lots of salt and pepper but the cheese and lobster were quality and they didn't skimp at all on the amount of lobster served! Untoasted pita came with the mussles and I saved them for my chowder. Would go again if we're ever back in Bath!

I have been to many seafood restaurants, but the Kennebec Tavern is by far the best. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, the food is hot, fresh, and delicious, and the alcohol selection is top-notch. I highly recommend the Kennebec Tavern to anyone looking for a great seafood meal. The menu has a wide variety of options to choose from, including lobster rolls, clam chowder, and fresh fish dishes. The food is always cooked perfectly and the portions are generous. The Kennebec Tavern also has a great selection of draft beers, including many local and craft beers. I always enjoy trying something new when I go to the Kennebec Tavern. Overall, the Kennebec Tavern is a great place to go for a delicious seafood meal and a relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Lunch stop down on the water, wasn't super busy for a lunch crowd. Nice location, a bit dated but some neat decor. Service was good. Tackled the fruit and nut salad, was excellent. Family restaurant
J R Maxwell & Co. is a popular restaurant known for its prime rib, lobster prepared in various styles, chowder, and other hearty American dishes. The establishment is often bustling with activity in the evenings and is a top choice for many visitors to Bath. While some have noted that the restaurant may be understaffed at times, the food quality and friendly service make it worth the visit.
Come to Bath for the gorgeous town and stay for the amazing food! We had the best meal of our entire trip at Maxwell. I was itching for some clam chowder and this stuff did not disappoint. It's creamy and smooth with delicious chunks of yummy. I got the haddock with amaretto lobster cream sauce. You can see the large chunks of lobster meat and the sauce was fresh and amazing. Kid #1 got "the best Reuben he's ever eaten" and kid#2 devoured his entire plate of fish n chips. As I've stated before, being from Rochester NY we know good fish fry so this is really saying something. We were dying to try the Indian pudding but sadly had no room in the bellies. Service was friendly and the dining room was lovely. We'll be back for that Indian pudding as soon as we can!

The oysters were delicious, the fried haddock was not bad but not especially good. The burger was good. While the restaurant was busy (I understand most restaurants are understaffed now) the staff members were very helpful. This is a great option for a restaurant open later at night.

I like the restaurant, our server and the food was quite good. The issue was many seafood items on the menu that day weren't available at 3p. We overheard both staff and customers wonder how that could happen. It changed the atmosphere at least that day. I would try it again because I enjoyed what we had.

Meeshell, the waitress, was great. She was very attentive, prompt and polite in her service. Food could have been stepped on and we would still leave a solid review based on her service. Luckily though food was pretty good. Fried mushrooms and Reubens sandwich were both good. As well as both shrimp and kid pastas!

First time visiting and I think we got in right before the dinner crowd. I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant and the menu offered enough variety we both found something we liked. We were offered water and bread while we looked over the menu. The Blueberry Martini was amazing!
Haile Sue — Google review
This place gets busy! Great food, strong drinks, and good service given how busy they were. My only regret was only getting a cup of the clam chowder and not a bowl. I'll be back!
Norm S. — Google review
This is one of the busiest restaurants in the evening in bath. (Most of the town gets sleepy very early.) There's a good reason for that as the food is very good and the service is friendly. Their self proclaimed 'famous' French onion soup was good, that is expected just too much cheese on top for me. The stuffed lobster was pricey at $59, but delicious, even though there was no crab stuffing to be found as advertised. Having said that, the scallops stuffed inside were very, very good! We also enjoyed a baked haddock dish that was delicious. Although there are many separate dining areas, there is absolutely no social distancing so if that's something you're concerned about, you may want to take a look inside before settling down here. Reservations are recommended. Street parking located right out front.

Quiet restaurant in the heart of Bath. Great service. I had the Fish & Chips; amazing! Especially the fish. My wife ordered Haddock with coleslaw. The slaw was very good, the Haddock lacked flavor... could've used a bit more seasoning. Would definitely return.

My husband and I were in Bath and chose this place—we were not sorry! Delicious bread, excellent sangria house Chardonnay was crisp and refreshing. My husband said that their clam chowder was the best that he had ever eaten. That’s saying a lot. I loved the French onion soup, and could’ve eaten an entire plate of their asparagus. Our server Allerie really shone after the rush was over, chatting with us and making suggestions. The restaurant is a bit understaffed, so don’t be in a hurry, but who isn’t these days? So glad we discovered this place. We will be back the next time we are here.

Our food was excellent, the service great and a nice pour on the wine. We loved it and will be back. Appreciate the option to have a grilled haddock sandwich - not just fried - it was fresh, as was the roll - which was nicely toasted. The special, open faced turkey sandwich was huge and great quality. Clam chowder - very good. Thank you.

We've been coming to Bath for years. This has always been our favorite place for dinner. I dinged a star because this last time my sister and I each ordered the reuben and they forgot the dressing on both of them, so they were very dry. We asked the waitress for some and she was great and brought it out. Quantity of food for the price is fantastic, especially compared to other local restaurants. The building and interior design is fun and cozy.

The restaurant staff is known for their exceptional work ethic, as they tirelessly cater to their customers' needs. Despite being cash-only, the prices are reasonable and there is also an ATM available on-site. The rustic ambiance of the old seafaring tavern adds to the overall experience.
We drove all the way from Long Island ,New York .for the best cabin pizza .did you say cheese ? And an amazing friendly crew! Thank you for making our trip do worth it . We left with a pineapple pizza for a friend heated it up in the oven at 450° when we got home they loved it

The pizza is awful and not worth the long wait. The cheese is gross and the pizza always has too much sauce. Maybe if your an old person with no taste buds this pizza might be good but other than that I don’t recommend this to anyone

This has to be the hardest working restaurant crew I have seen in a long time. I went on a Friday night when they were busy and they were just working it. Pizza was really good and the space is an old school seafaring tavern kind of a vibe. Note: cash only, but prices were very reasonable (and they do have a cash machine). Well worth the visit!

Great pie great crust, cabin makes good pizza easily one of the best in Maine. Somewhat chewy slightly thicker good crisp crust sauce is perfect prices are good. Highly recommend!

Not a bad place. Pizza just wasn't what I was looking for. Not bad, but more doughy and less flavorful than I thought. Staff is super nice though and service is always great. Also, cash or check only. Not a bad thing, but just a heads up to anyone ordering from here.

Husband and I on vacation in Booth Bay and decided to try The Cabin pizza located in Bath, about a 20min drive from us. Private parking lot next to restaurant and parking along the street. Old vintage building, walk in, go up to the counter which doubles as the place you order and pick up your order. You grab a menu and pick a booth of your choice, make your decision and return to counter and place your order. Friendly and helpful young man answered questions and took our order. Cash only place, ATM machine available. Beer and can soft drinks to order. Big, cozy place with plenty of booths to be had. Steady stream of people picking up orders, also have delivery. Our food took 20min and was delivered to our booth piping hot with paper plates and silverware. Talk about a fantastic, delicious pizza! We ordered a large, also comes in a small. It was packed with fresh tasting cheese and items, great tasting sauce and crispy crust. YUM!! We truly pigged out and had some leftovers to take home! They have a full menu of other food options to consider. Their sandwiches looked so darn good being delivered to another booth. I highly recommend trying this place, it was that amazing!! We will be back soon and very soon!! Debbie and Bob, Mich 🍕🍺

On the Thursday before my son's wedding. The cabin let us come in 40 minutes before closing and order for eight people. We stayed right till the last minute. They didn't pressure us to leave or say anything they just patiently waited for us to finish. My compliments to the cabin for being so nice to the people from out of state. Thank you.

Cabin has gone down a little. It just tasted different than I remember. It's been about 10 years since I had it last. Now, with that being said, it was good pizza, better than chain delivery for sure. Everyone in the back is working hard and seems to enjoy it, which adds to the taste for sure. The Cabin is still cash only. They do have an ATM inside just in case you forget. We went for dinner, and the wait was respectful since they were a little slammed. Canned drinks, bottled beer and plenty of Moxie! This was a go to for years in the 1980s and 1990s for sport banquets and will continue to be sought after by the locals. Head on down towards the shipyard and enjoy some Maine Pizza! Do not forget the Garlic knots!

Exactly what you would want, good food at a fair price. The garden salad was a nice surprise - big, whole onion slices and tomatoes and more. Top level. I had a hot sandwich and it hit the spot. We were able to finish seating for nine on a Friday evening because they had a few big tables. Cash only - that was a wrinkle. Nice people. Happy place.

the food is good for the price paid, it's not exceptional but it's damn good. the portion size is big and the prices aren't bad at all. the seating is nice along with view. one thing I did notice was some of the seats if you lean forward the whole seat moves forward so I do think it could be a little more secure.

The pizza was excellent. The ham Italian wasn’t too bad either except for I’ve never had an Italian on that type of bread, but it was still good staff Very nice and friendly.

My husband and I are obsessed with The Cabin’s chili pizza!! The crust is perfectly thick to hold all of the chili goodness, but the chili itself is not layered too thick that it weighs down the slices. Very unique and something we never knew we needed in our lives. We also tried the pepperoni pizza and enjoyed it very much. Service here is fast and the staff is super friendly. Highly recommend if you want to try some unique and delicious pizzas!

Awesome Place, awesome vibe! It gets four stars because the food is not quite what it used to be. It is still amazing though! The prices have gone up considerably. I would recommend going and enjoying the full experience with eat in vs. Take out. Definitely worth the money then! Still, when you need to get your Cabin fix I would recommend all day long!

New American restaurant
Nestled in Bath, Maine, Winnegance Restaurant & Bakery is a hidden gem that offers a delightful dining experience. The restaurant boasts a traditional ambiance and an enticing menu featuring daily specials like fresh-picked crab salad melt, Thanksgiving sandwich, surf n turf scrambles, and crabcake-stuffed haddock omelet. The lunch menu showcases Maine's exceptional seafood with dishes like the crab BLT and blackened haddock sandwich topped with a crab cake and lobster aioli.
I feel the best experience for me about eating at the Winnegance Restaurant other than the great food is the roots of the establishment haven’t been changed. The old wooden floors as one steps inside is silently echoing out the memories of former owners and customers when it was a General Store. The feeling of “Everybody Knows Your Name” still exists here. “Help yourself to a cup of coffee”and discuss the beauty of why Maine is so special - it’s the people. The owners, Holli and Shawn, are creating gourmet meals and desserts and they make everyone feel relaxed and welcomed. It’s homemade cooking that will warm your soul. The restaurant is small but the tables are constantly being shuffled to accommodate any sized party. The warmer weather brings the added bonus of outside porch dining. It’s just a great time and the help is always friendly and quick to please. Whether it’s a morning breakfast with real homemade fries or Shawn’s award winning chowders with a chicken salad sandwich, my family and I are never disappointed. The only disappointment one may encounter is scoring a parking spot, but take out is available and an abundance of fresh caught Maine fish, as well as other staples, are available to purchase. Thank you for working so hard and helping us to enjoy some normalcy.

Delish!! Sit on the porch if it’s nice out. Haddock wrap was so good and the lobster grilled cheese. Such friendly owners too! We will be back next time we’re in the area

Wonderful place. Excellent food. Friendly staff and owner. (Sorry getting my first bite of the Vegetarian Reuben took precedence over photographing it!)

The seafood chowder was excellent. Loved the BLT with haddock. Portions were generous and the staff seemed genuinely glad to serve us. Prices were fair, and my five dollar house wine was generous. A great place to get lunch!

Delicious food, very friendly service! We used the wheelchair ramp since my 92 year old mom couldn’t use the steps. Ordered the crab cake appetizer, crab cake sandwich, chicken salad wrap, crab meat grilled cheese, and BLT with turkey. All were delicious and large portions. Loved the view and the breeze on the porch. We highly recommend and will return!

What a hidden gem! We got there just after breakfast service finished, but weren't disappointed with the lunch menu at all. They showcase Maine's amazing seafood in a relaxed accessible way. We enjoyed the crab BLT and the blackened haddock sandwich, with a crab cake on top and lobster aioli. Some of the best food we have had in a long time! The service is friendly and casual, with self service drinks. If you can sit on the terrace, the view over the river is lovely. Parking can be a challenge if it is busy, but definitely worth finding a spot and trying it out!

We went very early on a Sunday morning and it wasn’t busy. The food was excellent. My boyfriend had the Mainers breakfast and I had the breakfast fish tacos, both were delectable. We also got some pastries which were excellent. The owners were so nice and attendant, but it’s easy to be attentive when there’s only three people in the restaurant at 7 AM.

I wish Google allowed me to add an occasional sixth star when a place has something of the charts to offer. This restaurant's imports and pastries, seafood dishes for breakfast and their scones, were both some of the best breakfast items we have ever had anywhere. Charming location, indoor and outdoor seating, very slow service because they kitchen is small and the deliciousness is well known by locals, but you can grab pastries and self serve coffee right when you walk in(and you should not miss the blueberry granola scones!) All the food coming out looked good, nice home fries, homemade toast, sweet but interesting muffin French toast. But the seafood omelettes were the star of our meal. Bacon Swiss scallop with caramelized onions was breakfasty but loaded with scallops. The seafood omlette had loads of shrimp, scallop and lobster in every bite plus shredded crab throughout. Seafood was perfectly cooked, fresh and firm...a delicious reminder that you are eating food prepared by a local lobsterman's family, much of it out of the waters you can see from the tables on the porch. Exceptional... We might come back for the seafood tacos and salads again today at lunch if we can ever find room to eat again.

Wow what great food. It does take a minute to make because they don't microwave your food. I went all 3 days on vacation and had a variety of the menu. Everything was great! Only a little dig on the service, not our waitress though she was super nice and accommodating, they did however say we couldn't add horseradish to comething because they didn't have it.. then brought out horseradish with the oysters.... otherwise everything was beyond 5 stars. Be patient wait your turn to sit and you will be rewarded.

Outstanding! From the moment you walk in. Cozy and friendly service. If you like seafood breakfast specials, this is the place. If not, there are plenty of other selections. I had a great Rueben Omelet, and the better half had a nice scrambler.

One of those places that you run across, full of atmosphere and no doubt history, tied to the community and locale. In addtiona t breakfast, i bought a lb of fresh scallops that were just brought in. I cant wait to stop by again. Dont not stop when you pass by.

Excellent location and view. Our food was a bit of a miss though. The fried chicken sandwich was great. However, the grilled cheese sandwich was burnt and dry. We also ordered the crusted potato app and it was really disappointing. I think we just got a bit unlucky today as the food going to the other tables looked much better. We will go here again if we are in the area. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Small place, but the food and service was amazing. Cinnamon rolls right out of the oven. My boyfriend had the seafood omelette, said it was to die for. Definitely a new favorite.

The food was wonderful. Our server worked hard and was so friendly. Party of three. One got meat lovers omelet and said it was good. The other two got specials - monte cristo sandwich and shrimp, spinach and feta over scrambled eggs. Delicious. Don't miss the cookies. We got some chocolate chip cookies to go and we glad we did. So delicious.

Byrnes Irish Pub is a fantastic establishment that offers an impressive selection of beverages. They have a variety of drinks, including Magners Irish Cider on tap and various versions of Irish coffee. The food they serve is exceptional pub fare, particularly their pastrami poutine and whiskey glazed wings. The service provided by the staff is top-notch, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. With live music performances by an authentic Irish band, the atmosphere at Byrnes Irish Pub is lively and enjoyable.
This was our first time here and loved it. They had a great selection of drinks. I had a Magners Irish Cider on tap and my wife had a variation of an Irish coffee. They serve pub food but it is really good pub food. We split a couple of appetizers, the pastrami poutine and the whiskey glazed wings. Both were great as was the service. Definitely going to make this place a regular watering spot.

Okay. So I’ll leave my honest opinion in summary. I thought the food was good, beer was good, while rather expensive, but the staff was the worst part of my experience two days in a row. They seemed rude. Didn’t want to serve me, more interested in chatting with the locals. When I did order food, they got it wrong. I asked “to go” and I had to remind them, when they brought out a salad I was hoping to eat at home. I had Jess as my bartender, and she seemed unenthused to serve me.. It was like she wanted me away from the bar, for her friends etc. I ordered an appetizer on 2nd night, and she rudely asked if it was to go, while implying I should like another beer. I can only assume, because the night previous, I had asked for chicken wings and a salad to go. And, what do you know, the night before they didn’t listen to me. Brought me salad on a plate and acted like I was in the wrong, even though I asked for it to go. As soon as Jess dropped off my “appetizer/dinner,” and without asking, snatched up my menu and took it to a customer a few seats down. I’m sorry I have seen a lot, but that was one of the rudest things I’ve ever experienced at a “restaurant.” To top it all off, I had no idea the place closed at 8 pm. So, bartender took my menu, and failed to inform me that they closed in about an hour. I was planning on ordering dinner, but had no idea they closed at 8 -9 pm. I just would have appreciated a, “heads up, kitchen closes in 30.” Instead of someone giving my menu to another customer. Honestly the three stars are for the cooks because they make this place. The food was fantastic and the service atrocious.

Byrne's feels like a neighborhood pub, the kind of place where regulars love to gather and welcoming of newcomers too. The food was outstanding! We had leprechaun balls for a starter which were great. My wife had a delicious sandwich and I had bangers & mash, which was excellent. We got desserts to go, bread pudding and cheesecake. They were both very tasty. I can't wait to bring some extended family here when they come to visit Maine.

Food was OK, nothing special but not terrible either. Nachos were good, until you were the top layer and only have a pile of chips. Very dry, even the parts with cheese lol. Got a half order of Mac & Cheese, it was burnt a little but otherwise it was alright. It's the old fashioned homemade kind which I enjoy but not everyone does bc again it can be dry and the burnt didn't help I'm sure. Wings were pretty good. The chicken burger had this cashamole sauce which is a guacamole basically but it had like the tiniest smear of it on there as you can see in the photo so again a little dry. If you like dried out food then this is definitely the place for you. It was very busy and very fill as there was a Christmas singalong but they have it every year so they should be prepared. LOTS of kids running around but may have just been bc of the holiday sing a long. Not really my scene for a bar. I don't think I'd go back overall. Just ok food, just ok service and atmosphere. Very cluttered and not sure how clean it is, especially since they just walked around all the candy the kids smashed into the floor instead of sweeping it up right in the entry way 😳

If you like an Irish pub, you’ll love Byrnes Irish. A rainy Friday in Bath found us wet and hungry, but even the lunchtime vibe was lively and festive with a mix of local workers and families. The place wasn’t overly crowded, but we were lucky to get a table. The food and service were solid. We enjoyed the Brian Boru Reuben and the clam chowder. That’s a corned beef Reuben (Irish, right) with a healthy dose of cheese & kraut, and the clam chowder was just the hearty comfort food you probably want on a damp day in Maine. The Irish onion soup was the unique item made with the usual beef stock (I think) and caramelized onions, but the Guinness in the broth provides a complexity beyond the more familiar French version of this soup. The mix of cheeses on top add a tangy sharpness that made this my favorite part of our meal. Sadly, we couldn’t explore the broad array of libations offered, as we had 7-hour drive ahead of us. I’ll plan my itinerary better next time.

Angie was incredible, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was utterly infectious. An all-around wonderful experience and I hope to be back! P.S. The Irish crème cheesecake is the best dessert I’ve had in years
Jordan Guest — Google review
We stopped in because we heard the music and the albeit reluctant allure of a Guinness beer in a pint glass. But after entering and smelling the food we decided to try a little. We started with Celtic Cesar salad with anchovies for an extra dollar. It was fabulous and so we tried the Irish onion soup with a slice of Guinness bread for an additional dollar. The soup was amazing with a hint of Guinness and robust onion taste. It was light on the cheese but paired with the slightly sweet bread it was delectable. So it was two for two. We then decided to try two specialty drinks a the bloody Irishman and the Brynes bacon Bloody Mary. Wow were they well constructed. Both came with a slice of lemon and slice of lime, two olives and stalk of celery. Everything you need for a wholesome meal. The biggest difference is that the Bloody Irishman has a hint of Guinness and no bacon. Both drinks went down easy and were sufficiently strong that you know you had a well constructed drink. And you know what goes well with Bloody Mary??? Pastrami! We then ordered pastrami poutine and the Brooklyn pastrami sandwich with a side of ginger coleslaw. It was served on marble rye with a single pickle Speer. The pickle was as good as any New York deli so we asked for two more. The pastrami was lean and very tasty, both dishes were a hit. The ginger sesame coleslaw was refreshing and surprisingly crisp. The only thing left to do was sample the dessert. We ordered the bread pudding. It was on the dry side with overly crisp bread. The only downside was the dessert. It was surprisingly just like someone else’s mom used to make and I didn’t eat that one either. It’s a five star “hole in the wall” with great music on Wednesday. The musicians are all unpaid and so I am sure the quality varies but today it was great. This bar food is certainly the best I have ever had and for the meal components, they compare favorably with some fine dining I have had. If you are in town or passing through you have to stop in and put this review to the test. It was fairly priced a lot of food and two drinks for $70.

Nice Irish pub in Bath - definitely worth stopping in. Good selection of beers, delicious salmon sandwich with a side of mash and gravy; my wife had the burger and enjoyed it. Will definitely return to try more of the food and beer.

This is the premiere Irish Pub in Midcoast Maine. The selection of beer (15++) and traditional fare makes this a must visit when you’re here. Music Wednesdays. Trivia Thursdays. Sunday brunch. *Take a moment to look at all the wall art. A fun place for wings, a burger, some camaraderie and beer.

A MUST stop when we are in town. The Destroyer with an extra piece of bread to make it a full sandwich (normally served open face) is my favorite with a mug of the freshest Guinness (properly poured EVERY TIME! If you know, you know). I've had just about everything on their menu and there is not a single thing I don't like. The Guinness gravy is TO DIE FOR! The Reuben omelet (when it's on special) is heavenly paired with a mimosa or irish coffee during Sunday Brunch! You will absolutely love the authentic cozy, warm pub atmosphere complete with the best local regulars that know how to have a great time. The service is TOP NOTCH! You definitely won't regret visiting Byrnes in Bath.
