Nature & Parks
Acadia National Park is a vast 47,000-acre nature reserve characterized by forests, towering granite peaks, and rugged coastlines. It offers a range of activities such as camping, hiking, and more. While visitors typically spend around three days exploring the park and its nearby town Bar Harbor, it's still possible to make the most of a single day by driving along the scenic 27-mile Park Loop Road.
My mom just moved to ME which makes it easy to explore Acadia. It’s now one of my favorites. The views are breathtaking. Sometimes it’s foggy, which gives it this spooky and mysterious vibe. The beehive’s summit is my favorite trail so far. It overlooks sand beach. I would love to explore when it’s fall and the leaves are different colors.

The "summer getaway" location in Maine (and the rest of New England). This national park has options for all. From short strolls and horseback riding to photograph and water activities. Recommendation: Plan in advance to secure accommodations outside the park and your "must do" activities. A little bit of preparation will be worth the journey.
Tony Smith — Google review
This is a lovely place to hike and get spectacular ocean views. Don’t expect to see much wildlife, and avoid the heavily trafficked loop road during peak tourist season - unless you want to spend time on a parking lot or walk shoulder to shoulder with thousands of visitors. We especially loved the hike to Sargent mountain from Jordan’s pool and also the less crowded loop around the schoodick peninsula
Venkatesh Kini — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place! Was only able to spend a few hours exploring, but we will definitely be returning for an extended stay. Very peaceful. Only one other couple were at the beach we stopped at to explore. It was drizzling, but I think it only added to the charm.
Kate Harvey — Google review
A seemingly endless number of hiking trails to choose from that range from easy to difficult, with each offering unique and beautiful views of Mount Desert Island and the surrounding seas and lands. A must-visit national park for hikers, bikers, naturalists, and adventurers.
Craig Young — Google review
Although the mountain-river sceneries are most concentrated in western or center of United States, but Acadia National Park makes an exception. There is rarely good Mountain View at east coast of United States, people can hiking, mountain climbing, biking, etc. Also there have beautiful rock coast, and enjoy the colorful rock with blue ocean. According to the rank, Acadia National Park is the only national park located at eastern coast which in the top 10 most beautiful national parks of United States.

Great experience. Very beautiful and serene. Lots of different trails with varying levels of difficulty. Beehive trail and Jordan pond loop were highlights. Bar harbor and bass harbor are also worth a visit.
Abdul Ekiyoyo — Google review
One of the prettiest National Parks I've visited. I loved being able to climb Cadillac Mountain and greet the sunrise. Otter cliffs were stunning. Jordan Pond was picture perfect. The trails offered varied in length and intensity. So glad to cross Acadia off my bucket list. My young son thoroughly enjoyed the trip too. Would love to visit again in the Springtime or Summer.
Elana Goldstein — Google review
Such diverse landscape from mountains to the sea. We particularly liked exploring tide pools at low tide. The flowers looked and smelled amazing in July. Some of the more popular areas were very crowded and parking was difficult.
Barbara V. — Google review
Great experience. Cadillac Mountain was scenic. Lots of hiking opportunities for all levels. Bubble Rock is a great hike, no matter what path you take. Thunder Hole had impressive waves but wouldn't THUNDER for us (need surge and winds to be just right)
Jason Kennedy — Google review
Beautiful National park in Maine. So many sites to see and things to do inside the park. Tons of hiking trails and carriage roads. We were lucky enough to visit during peak fall foliage and the park did not disappoint. Lots of different areas to explore so be sure to map out your day and have other options available as some areas get very crowded and parking can be limited!
Aimee — Google review
My husband and I have been to many of the National Parks, and Acadia is up there among our favorites! We spent a couple of days hiking around in mid-October, and it. was. breathtaking!!! The air smells and feels so fresh, the landscape is dramatic, and the wildlife is incredible. We saw bald eagles, seals, and deer. If you head to Acadia, I’d definitely recommend taking some time to walk down to the sand beach! If you walk all the way to the left, there are some tidal pools and grassy spots. We spent a lot of our afternoon laying in the sunshine and looking in the tidal pools. We also loved hiking around Otter Point! Gosh, I can’t put into words how stunningly beautiful the landscape is… if you’re thinking of planning a trip to Mount Desert Island, think no more!! Do it! It’s amazing.
Jenny Parkison — Google review
Though winter is not the hot season of Acadia, it is also special and beautiful. I will definitely go there again and explore more of this amazing island. We climbed the Door Mountain, it’s not difficult and has a good view on the top.
Kaiyu Wang — Google review
One of the best hiking and sightseeing destinations in the country and world. Even right after peak season it’s very very very busy. But if you plan accordingly with alternatives/backups for traffic and/or weather situations you can have a fantastic time. Make sure to take in account for the heavy foot traffic and longer wait time at restaurants because it’s often visited by families and older folks as well.
Miguelina Diaz — Google review
We have traveled our 48 states and Acadia National Park is in the top 10 attractions. Plan enough time to see and experience all routes. We chose to drive ourselves instead of the buses and found it pleasurable and not difficult. Bar Harbor is very busy and parking was difficult to find.
Richard Klepper — Google review
We could say so much about Acadia! But I’ll keep this short: - Amazing hikes, they are short, some are exposed with ladders and narrow ledges. They offer incredible views on the ocean and they are very very scenic. Jordan Pond, beachcroft path, precipice trail, beehive, good classics! - The park is so clean, campgrounds are nice if you can book a spot, you can either go hike in the mountains or hang out on the coast. - If you can bring bikes, the carriage road is so much fun, gravel road with scenic views, no cars. One of the best park I’ve been too. They don’t have the big and tall mountains, but they don’t miss it!
Jean-Christophe Drolet — Google review
Incredible National Park. Went in November traffic was light which made everything easy to get around. Downside many restaurants and amenities were not open. Did not need a reservation for Cadillac Mountain. I'd go back in an instant.
Nicholas Seiter — Google review
I went on a drizzly day in March in the off season but everything was still so stunning. I wish I'd had more than 1 day to look and hike around. Definitely coming back for longer in the summer. Gorgeous spot
Dr Nicole Hellessey — Google review
I have traveled over the entire United States and Acadia is by far one of the most magical places I have had the pleasure experiencing. You could explore this place over and over, and I would be willing to bet its beauty would forever be shocking, inspiring, and uplifting. You will not regret traveling here and you will definitely want to stay. I would recommend staying in bar harbor, if you can afford it, and hiking every trail you can. The Bee Hive Trail was my favorite and looked beautiful with the fall leaves. I went the second week of October and I think one more week would have been perfect to allow for more transition.
Cody Prevatt — Google review
Acadia National Park is like that chill friend who's always down for a good time outdoors. It's got everything from rocky beaches to lush forests, making it the ultimate hangout spot. You can take it easy and just chill by Jordan Pond with a picnic, or if you're feeling adventurous, hit up Cadillac Mountain for some killer views. if hiking's not your thing, no worries! There are plenty of scenic drives and easy trails to explore. Whether you're into kayaking on Eagle Lake or just soaking in the scenery, Acadia's got something for everyone. It's the kind of place where you can kick back, relax, and let nature do its thing. So, next time you're in Maine and looking for a casual outdoor escape, Acadia National Park is where it's at. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
Nook Hanklang — Google review
My family and I stayed in the area for a month exploring this great national park. There was so much to see and we still did not have enough time to get to everything. With that being said, the things we did see were magnificent and the wonder that surrounds the trail in this park is amazing. If you look close enough in nature you find so many little things working together that makes the landscape what it is. Highly recommend this park if you are ever in the area and the people there are so nice. Thanks for the hospitality.
Matty Thrash — Google review
Took a 2 hikes: beachcroft trail up most of Chamberlain mountain, sandy beach. What an amazing beach! The geology is super interesting compared to the south's beaches. Lots of triangle rocks, as well as some sea glass. Also visited thunder hole at low tide. It was still amazing. You can see how the tide booms in at high tide.
Rion Caughman — Google review
Beautiful. The landscape is breathtaking. I have been here at various times of the year and I am never disappointed. Just make sure you bring appropriate clothes. Get here early. It will take you all day to see all the sights that are here. While you can DRIVE everywhere, you WILL want to get out and walk around and become involved in this remarkable piece of nature. Just breathing the air alone will make you come back.
P C — Google review
Acadia is one of my favorite Maine places to visit over and over. I hike here year round in every type of New England weather. This park is loaded with endless options for hiking the trails and carriage roads. A daily, weekly, or annual park pass is required to enter this Park. The Jordan Pond House is the only cafe inside the Park (that I am aware of) that serves food and drink. Bodies of water here range ponds, streams, lakes, and countless access points to the Atlantic Ocean. Be sure to check the official Acadia NP website to catch any road or trail closures. The autumn foliage here is absolutely stunning during October. The scenic drive on Park Loop Road within the Park (on Mount Desert Island, aka MDI) is approximately 25 miles long.

Mountains
Cadillac Mountain is a 1,530-foot peak that offers a well-marked trail with informative plaques and expansive vistas at its summit. It stands as the highest point within a 35-mile radius of the North American Atlantic coastline and was initially known as Green Mountain before being renamed in honor of French explorer Antoine de La Mothe Cadillac in 1918. This mountain provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, making it a popular destination to witness sunrise.
Well worth the early rise and the ride up to see the sunrise. We beat the crowd and the need to make parking reservation by going in early May. Beautiful few minutes that you would not want to trade for extra snooze time or coffee in the morning.
S Lee — Google review
Nice drive up to one of the best views in the park. Getting sunrise tickets is extremely difficult. Sunset tickets are easier to grab. Really hard to hike to the top but it’s some great hiking on the way up! Definitely worth doing!
Nathan Bantle — Google review
We missed the sunrise but that didn’t matter much! The first sunrise on eastern side of the U.S. from here is only a few months out of the year. The views from here are incredible! It’s breathtaking! You have to climb a bit on rocks to really get the full impact, be adventurous. There are walkways too for those afraid of heights. It’s best to have sneakers with some great grip, bring sunglasses and pack up the sunblock. The parking is kinda tight. There’s also restrooms and a store for drinks and goodies. Enjoy it!
Frank B — Google review
This was the best hike during my 10 days in Acadia. I recommend submitting at golden hour and watching the sunset from such a great vantage point. I look forward to heading here again in future trips. Definitely recommend.
christopher paprocki — Google review
It’s truly a beautiful view from here! We visited off season so didn’t need reservations, but during the season (usually end of May through October) you need a separate permit to drive up to the summit. Seeing the sunrise from the top of Cadillac mountain is a beautiful (albeit cold) experience. In my opinion it was totally worth getting up at 4am for. If you end up doing that, bring a blanket and then head over into town for some great Maine breakfast.
Iliana Radneva — Google review
The highest peak on the eastern seaboard of the United States was beautiful. I am more and more afraid of heights as I get older and this was a very doable experience. We drove to the top which required a $6 reservation in advance. We were able to book it the day before once we knew the weather was going to be good. The top of the mountain is relatively flat which allowed me to walk on most of the walkways and enjoy the views. There is a gift shop at the top of the mountain that has a special stamp for your National Park Passport but make sure they are open before you head up to the top so you are not disappointed if you miss it.
Andrew Kassouf — Google review
We got up early to view the sunrise. Very cold and windy but worth it. We went during the off season and had not problems and didn’t have to make a reservation. During the season you need to make a reservation. Great view of the area.

Cadillac Mountain: Breathtaking Acadia Cadillac Mountain, located in Acadia National Park in Maine, is a stunning destination that offers breathtaking views and a memorable outdoor experience. As the tallest peak on the East Coast of the United States, Cadillac Mountain attracts visitors from all over the world. Here's an amazing review of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia: Visiting Cadillac Mountain was an absolute highlight of my trip to Acadia National Park. The journey to the summit was an adventure in itself, with winding roads and scenic overlooks along the way. Once I reached the top, I was greeted with the most magnificent panoramic views I have ever witnessed. The sunrise from Cadillac Mountain is legendary, and it's easy to understand why. As the sun slowly rose above the horizon, the entire landscape was bathed in a golden hue, casting a magical glow over the mountains, forests, and lakes below. It was a truly awe-inspiring sight that words fail to capture adequately. The observation deck at the summit provided ample space for visitors to enjoy the view comfortably. I found myself lost in the beauty of the surrounding islands, the vast Atlantic Ocean, and the charming town of Bar Harbor in the distance. It was a serene and peaceful experience, and I felt like I was on top of the world. Three things that you should do on this mountain are 1. Watch a Sun Rise 2. Watch a Sun set 3. Stargaze
Viswa Bharath — Google review
The weather was cloudy during our visit and the mountain top was crowded as can be expected for a popular destination. Online reservations are required in advance to enter the road to the summit to reduce overcrowding. Total cost per car is $6. Recommend booking at least 3 days in advance.
ericmtnbiker — Google review
A mountain formed by a volcanic eruption in bar harbor, maine. A great spot to do star gazing, in the late evening you may see a few people with telescopes to explore planets. You can drive your car up there. It is windy and open are, be careful if you have kids along with you. You will also see people running the trail. Being at such elevation gives you a beautiful view of the areas around from top
SRG — Google review
Absolutely stunning! And a must do. Get up early and plan accordingly!! We were unable to make the appointment to drive up…all good. Set out alarms for Early and started the hike to the summit at 3am. Gave ourselves 2 hours of hiking in the pitch black! Take flash lights for everyone. And dress warm as when you reach the summit it will be early and cool and breezy! Such an amazing experience that I will never forget!
J-Kube — Google review
This is a great location and the 1st place sunlight hits the US in the morning. The mountain isn't all that high and there are numerous hiking trails to the summit and a road/parking area. Anyway the view is just amazing at the top. I will say that with the road it gets extremely busy and you need an Acadia National Park pass to access. Note that during the 'season', which starts May 25th through September you have to go online to reserve a day to drive to the summit to see the sunrise and there is an additional fee. It's very much worth the hassle to make the online reservation and the cost to see the sunrise if you can't or do not like hiking. I've done this twice (hiked once and drove once) so posted pictures of good i.e. clear skies and a rather disappointing cloudy day.
Rick Adkins — Google review
I love to drive up here in any weather. Been here 3 times just this year experiencing different weather. The 1st time i went was to watch the sunset, the second time was summer we went for a sunrise watch and in fall, 😅😅 we had zero visibility due to the incoming storm that day. But a must visit when in Acadia National Park.
Rhea Tulio — Google review
Very beautiful panoramic view. We had reservations and went early in the morning. Very windy and it was cold but the views were lovely.
Jen Smith — Google review
Lovely drive. Once you get to the summit there's ample room to explore. Walk the paths or explore the bedrock - just stay clear of the other areas. If you go during peak season make sure you have reservations!
Jennifer Nolen — Google review
Definitely worth the effort and time to get up to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. The views were absolutely incredible. There are several trails that you can take moderate intensity hikes. When we reached the summit, it was fogged in, but the fog cleared within 30 minutes and the results were fabulous revealing Beautiful views of Bar Harbor and the surrounding area of Acadia National Park. Don’t let bad weather slow you down. Remember reservations are mandatory, you pay six dollars per car regardless of how many people are inside.
Jason Amiama — Google review
A must-visit gem within Acadia National Park, Cadillac Mountain comes highly recommended. To secure your visit, make an advanced reservation through the NPS website, especially if you're planning to witness the sunrise, as these slots fill up quickly. We opted for a sunset view, which was truly spectacular. Regardless of the season, don't forget to bring a jacket as it can get quite chilly and windy at the summit. Parking is plentiful, and the panoramic views, encompassing Bar Harbor and the surrounding islands, are nothing short of spectacular. Be sure to add this to your itinerary and book your spot in advance for an unforgettable experience. IG: journey_man16

It is beautiful here, but don't go before May. The bathroom is not on the mountain. We searched for a long time to find a bathroom when we were hiking, but it was a bit difficult to describe. There is a small town about 20 minutes away from the scenic area, but because it's not the tourist season, many stores are not open for business. Many of them will only open for business on May 11th. If you go before this time, you need to prepare some snacks and enough hand sanitizer.
Kavya L — Google review
Cadillac Mountain, located in the Acadia National Park and probably one of the highest points of the east coast, is an incredible place to visit. There are many hiking trails to go up to the summit however we decided to drive and we weren't disappointed when we got there. The spectacular views are breathtaking. Wow!!! We had a beautiful sunny but windy day. I presume it's always windy at that height. There are also restrooms and a small gift shop at the top of the mountain. The air up there is so fresh and pure!! We really had a great time and I highly recommend it. Really worth the drive!!
Luce Morin — Google review
You have to pre-purchase the ticket online. It is by vehicle size. The drive is amazing with several stops to view and take pics. The parking at the top is ample, and the views are worth it. You can walk out on the rock ledges for grea pics. The walks are fairly easy. The top is set up for people of all physical abilities. Great place to stay for hours. It's first place to see the sunrise on the east coast.
Bobby — Google review
What a spectacular place, can be reached both by hiking and driving. Drive to the summit is of around 4 miles. Go for booking a slot for sunrise but if you can’t make it, plan the summit so that you can spend some time till sunset. Sunset on other side of the mountain is as beautiful as sunrise. Don’t miss if you’re visiting Acadia National Park
Samiran Mondal — Google review
Nice views. It's unfortunate that there is a field of wind turbines in view from the overlook. Parking is limited, so make sure you reserve a spot online.
Ed Conley — Google review
Awesome views, no crowds, & reservations not needed out of peak season. But cold, windy, & still some snow in the ditches at the end of April. We are definitely going to go back to explore more of it in a warmer summer month, probably next year.
Fonzzworthy — Google review
Watching the Cadillac Mountain sunrise is a bucket list activity that does not disappoint! The view from the summit for the sunrise is jaw dropping and is by far the best place to see the sunrise on the East Coast! Make sure to book the Cadillac Mountain sunrise tickets months in advance and when you are up there find a private spot to be the first people to witness the sunset in America!
Andre McMahon — Google review
I've visited 27 National Parks. This one is closest to me. Sunrise at Cadillac Mountain is a bucket list item. It DID NOT disappoint. It'll move you. Passes to see sunrise from this location book out months to even a year out. BUT, from October 15 to December 1, weather permitted, the sunrise is open to ALL. No pass is needed. We took advantage of our close proximity to cash in on this one in a million sunrise. I can't recommend enough if you have the opportunity to get up there and see it. Just dress warmly. I can not stress that enough.
Cherri Glidden — Google review
Great excursion! Make sure you make a reservation online ahead of time, but it is so worth it. Restrooms at the top, and little gift shop, and a variety of trails for all skill levels.

The sandy beach located in a quiet cove on the eastern side of Mount Desert Island is easy to access off the Park Loop Road via the Island Explorer Shuttle Bus. It's great for wading, swimming, hikes and scenic views.
What an absolutely BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL place to go!!!! The beach maybe small but she sure does pack a punch! At times it can be really crowded but it’s worth finding you a place to sit down and just enjoy the beauty of Maine! It’s a small walk down some stairs from the parking lot so everyone should be able to go! If you somehow get tired of the beach there are some beautiful scenic views on a trail on the other side of the beach! The hiking trail isn’t the easiest but well worth the effort to make it to the top!

Best combination of white sand, beautiful rock formations and pine trees!! ❤️ we went in August and it’s crowded and water is freezzziinnggg! We enjoyed it nevertheless! The parking lot is full so we have to find parking in the side of the street, even the street is so full we have to park like a mile away, the views were beautiful and not so bad of a trek. So you can combine nature hike then end in the beach 🏖

Raw beauty. This is how nature should be. Here inside Acadia you'll get to stick your toes inside one of the most gorgeous beaches. Gorgeous blue waves of the Atlantic in front of you and the rolling deep pines of Acadia all around you are a sight you'll never forget. While standing on the beach you'll be surrounded by sea, mountains, and sky- feel small yet? Just wait...you haven't even reached the summit of Cadillac yet

Absolutely gorgeous spot and so worth visiting in the off season. It’s so pleasant walking on the sand listening to the waves and there’s tons of hiking trails that you can explore. Definitely one of the highlights of the park.

Only beach in acadia national forest. Great place to enjoy the warm sun and cold waters of the atlantic. The sand here is unique because 70% of it is ground sea shells. Small beach and usually pretty crowded. It has a overlookpoint on the right for which you need to get through some rocks. Getting a place to park can be a challenge during busy weekends. The parking lot is usually full and people park along the park loop road as well and walk down to the beach. There are restrooms and changing rooms here as well. Must visit spot in acadia.

Sand Beach is a picturesque gem nestled within the stunning Acadia National Park in Maine. This beautiful coastal destination offers a unique and refreshing beach experience that stands out from other beaches in the region. Here's a review of Sand Beach in Acadia: My visit to Sand Beach in Acadia National Park was an absolute delight. As soon as I set foot on the beach, I was captivated by its natural beauty. The contrast between the vibrant blue ocean, the smooth white sand, and the lush greenery surrounding the area was simply breathtaking. What sets Sand Beach apart from other beaches is its distinctive location. Enclosed by rocky cliffs on either side, the beach creates a tranquil and intimate atmosphere that makes you feel like you've discovered a hidden paradise. The towering cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop, adding to the overall charm and uniqueness of the beach. One of the aspects that I appreciated about Sand Beach was its cleanliness and well-maintained condition. The National Park Service does an excellent job of keeping the beach pristine and ensuring that visitors have a pleasant experience. The sand was soft and inviting, and the water was crystal clear, inviting me to take a dip and cool off.
Viswa Bharath — Google review
It was a beautiful sandy beach. Water was clear with some seaweed but it was really cold. I stayed in the water for less than 5 minutes. Even my kids swam in it for less than 10 minutes. They enjoyed playing in the sand instead. There are a few stalls for changing, and on the side of these stalls, there is a faucet to rinse the sand.
Cristine Guiomar — Google review
Pretty nice “sandy” beach created by crushed shells. If it wasn’t for the freezing water temps you’d think you were in Florida on a hot sunny day. Stopped here a couple times during our week in Acadia. There’s changing stations, bathrooms, and water spigot to wash off when you’re done. The beach is usually packed meaning no parking is available nearby.
Ryan Lewandowski — Google review
We started our exploration of the park here. Be aware, many others do too! So we set out shortly after sunrise and were the first at the beach. As we left, many cars began arriving allowing us to always be a step ahead of the crowd this day. Got to stay a while and enjoy the Maine fog before the sun burned it off. Colors in the fall are absolutely mind blowing. Plenty of parking and dog friendly!
SmileyGnome — Google review
A nice sandy beach with great views of the ocean as well as Beehive Mountain. Even though there's a decent amount of foot traffic, the beach is big enough that there's a spot for everyone. There's a good amount of parking, but the parking lot was full by 9:30 am so make sure you get there sooner rather than later!

The beach is beautiful. Less crowded and clean. We visited the beach when hiking the Great Head Trail Loop. The hike was great too with amazing views.
Vrushali Kharbas — Google review
We started our park loop road at 830 in the morning to avoid crowds and it was our first stop. Sand Beach is one of the first major stops along Park Loop Road. This is a scenic beach that is known for its white-sand shoreline and turquoise water. what a clean, soothing, and beautiful beach it is. fall color, hills in the backdrop of turquoise water making it so photogenic. there are 10-20 stairs to go to the beach, I did not see a wheelchair ramp though. there are some walking trails (Which we did not go to). Walk the Great Head Trail or cross Park Loop Road and hike the thrilling Beehive Trail. There are also restrooms and water fill-up stations in the parking lot for visitors. Parking: as it was morning time, we easily got parking. or you can park here and walk to Thunder hole and Otter Cliff but its 2 miles up and down.

Like the sign said water is wicked cold even in July / August but the beach is splendid and beautiful. The sand is golden and the water is clear. Our kids loved the beach to play and to swim. There is a little shower outside which was very helpful. Restrooms are also available in the parking lots.

Jordan Pond House Restaurant is a historic eatery that offers a delightful assortment of tea and delectable meals. Guests can enjoy picturesque views of the pond and mountains while indulging in their famous popovers with jam or opting for heartier dishes. This establishment is a must-visit spot when exploring Acadia National Park, as it provides an opportunity to savor delicious food after engaging in outdoor activities like biking on the carriage roads or embarking on a scenic hike around Jordan Pond.
It's a little bit like the "Hunger Games" trying to get a parking spot at Jordan Pond House. Definitely take the free Island Explorer if you can or get there early. We got a spot at Jordan Pond House around 8:30am but we first went on a hike up to Bubbles and were back in the line around 11:15am. It took about 45 minutes but the waiting system is efficient. They gave us a buzzer and we waited 15 minutes or so before getting a table. They seat parties together so if someone decides to go for a walk to the pond, there is also no cell phone reception so you will have to go find them or hope they come back soon! We definitely saw people hollering from the observation deck for their friends who had gone down to the pond (also, don't do that.. it's annoying for everyone sitting outside). We sat by the lawn and there are bees so do *bee* careful if you are allergic. They are known for their popovers and definitely get one with butter and jam. I wouldn't share - they are delicious. The seafood chowder was a little more watery than I thought it would be though it was full of fish, shrimp, clams, etc. The meatloaf sandwich was really good as well though as you can see, we were so hungry after our hike that we nearly forgot to take pictures.

This experience was worth the wait! Our server was amazing being attentive to our needs without swarming our table. He was super busy but when he was with us he made us feel as if we were the only table that mattered. Now, most reviews will probably tell you that the popovers are amazing, and they are, but so was everything else. The food was delicious! We also enjoyed the herbal iced blueberry tea more than the hot blueberry black tea. The herbal was much more flavorful than the black tea.

Get there early so you can get a seat at the restaurant. Popovers were good. I had the bison meatloaf sandwich and it was so crunchy and charred in a good way, I'd have it again (and again). If you have to wait to be seated there's a nice patio to enjoy the view of Jordan Pond. There's also a take out to get quick snacks while you wait. Blueberry lemonade is pretty good there

First things first - Get there early. Way early. They open at 11 and immediately fill up (the list to wait got to over 2 hours when we left) and parking is a nightmare. I feel like they should build an additional parking area, for the restaurant alone. Once you get past that…the sites are wonderful, the food is delicious, the service is tentative and quick, and it is a neat spot to enjoy the first half of your day. There’s a gift shop (masks required) and a great spot for souviners.

Convenient but just okay food after a hike at Jordan Pond. This spot is right by the pond with parking that gets crowded. Their outdoor space with a gorgeous lake view has a good set up for outdoor wedding ceremonies and events while their indoor space has several tables with an open wall and outdoor view. Though it was quite busy around lunchtime, we were seated right away. Service was excellent but the food was just alright. My Lobster Bisque was barely warm and had a skimpy amount of meat. Then though they boast about their popovers, they were just okay and at room temperature. I've made better and have had better elsewhere. NOTES/TIPS: **It's the only food spot near the pond but there are other ones about 15 minutes driving (5 miles away). **Nice gift shop attached with rustic and nature-themed items. **Zero to very spotty cellphone service. **Bees are aplenty!!! Buzz buzz buzz!

We came to try the popovers in the afternoon! Reservation is only required for dinner. In less that half and hour we had a table! The popovers are really good! We ended up buying the popovers mix and recipient from the store next door. It has a unique texture! I also loved the blueberry lemonade! Great spot for an afternoon tea! Highly recommended!

Nice place. Had to wait 10 - 15 minutes but they have nice grounds and a store to kill the time. Pop-overs were great. Were served with fresh butter and strawberry jam. Also the baked Brie was fantastic!! Don't miss the walk to the Jordan pond behind the restaurant. Absolutely gorgeous!!

This is my second visit to Jordan Pond House. Expect to wrestle for parking. Expect a long wait. But if you get through both of those tests, you’ll be rewarded with popovers, which are simply amazing. That’s all I really came for but decided to splurge on a bowl of lobster stew. I’m not a huge lobster fan… until now. It was so tender and just amazing!
Fadra Nally — Google review
You really should make this a priority because the food was amazing and the views of Jordan Pond were incredible. They don't take reservations so be prepared for a wait unless you go before or after prime lunch time. Also, the food was a little expensive but it was delicious and you're literally paying for the location too! You have to try their popovers (they are famous for them)! We ordered the chicken salad sandwich, lobster roll, crab cakes, and blueberry sorbet. When we come back, we will definitely come back!
Kt Roberts — Google review
The popovers are amazing and there’s no better place to have it other than in this restaurant. Service was excellent - Mart, our waiters are so friendly, attentive, and patient. He deserves a raise! Waiting can be quite long (for us, it was about half an hour) - so come before you’re hungry.

One of the worst dining experiences of our lives. If you go here, walk the grounds and skip the house. Stayed in Bar Harbor and spent the week at Acaida, friends suggested a visit to Jordan Pond House. Beautiful grounds with views of the mountains and lake. Arrived at noon during peak season in August. They have about 25 picnic tables with pole umbrellas out back. We asked for first available table as we ran through the gift shop. A redhead with septum nose ring seated us outside, it was 92F with direct sun and no shade outside. I reached out to untie the umbrella cord and asked if I could raise it up so my kids could get some shade - was cut off with "We're NOT opening the UMBRELLAS today --- SIR." Like wow, I'm not sure who hurt you, but if you want to pick a fight with a customer, that's how to do it. We planned to snack and run, got popovers and lemonades. The popovers were well made and arrived with ramekins of strawberry preserves. We were immediately swarmed by angry yellow jackets, a well known problem if you read the other reviews. Our server smiled and said "careful of the bees!". Two tables over, a family of four was picking up their plates and silverware to head inside with the angry redhead. I pointed to our table and then inside to indicate 'can we go inside too?' and received a scowl and angry head shaking. We stood 3 tables away from where we were seated to avoid getting stung, pay our check and leave. I'm genuinely confused about what this establishment wants to accomplish in terms of customer experience. If it's to make your guests and children suffer and punish them for coming to your site, mission accomplished! Truly bizarre experience. I'm confident anyone reading this can do better elsewhere.

What a beautiful experience. Our meal was delicious and perfect in every way. The pop-overs are wonderful and uniquely their own. We had the pleasure of dining with wonderful folks surrounding us, and the opportunity to share some great conversations that carried onto the trail. Most definitely, I highly recommend this experience for all.(PSA: there are bees, stay calm and they will move on♡♡♡).

Lunch is served on a first come basis and there can be a long wait. We walked in for dinner just before 6pm with a party of 6 and were seated immediately maybe because the weather was nice and we sat outside with our 2 dogs. The blueberry lemonade was wonderful and 5 of us ordered it. The popovers are terrific and highly recommended. The atmosphere is beautiful, set out on a flagstone patio looking out on Jordan Pond with the Bubbles on the horizon. Service was excellent and the food was OK. The Bar Harbor Stew was more soup than stew, the gnocchi was delicious. The crabcakes were small and needed more of the sauce. Overall, we were very happy to dine there.

The wait can be very long, but the setting is idyllic and it's an experience that's worth it while you're experiencing Acadia. Popovers, popovers, popovers. You can't come here without getting at least a couple. Other good stuff on the menu too, but it's the popovers and the views that make the experience.
Tyler Cini — Google review
After our hike along the Jordan Pond trail, we decided to grab lunch at this spot. It's incredibly convenient, serving as the sole dining option in the park, but be prepared for potential delays—wait times can stretch to an hour or more depending on the day. This place is renowned for its popovers, and they absolutely lived up to their reputation. Even if you hadn't planned on dining here, I highly recommend indulging in their popovers if you get the chance. For those seeking a more casual option, they offer takeout upstairs, which is quite convenient. In addition to the delightful popovers, we also sampled the Organic chicken salad and the Louie salad with lobster and shrimp, both of which were satisfactory. The service was commendable, with our server consistently checking in on us. Without a doubt, the highlight of our meal was the popovers. Given the Jordan Pond House restaurant's rich history, we wholeheartedly suggest making a stop here during your visit. IG: journey_man16

We enjoyed a nice family dinner here after a full day of hiking. Tel he views and atmosphere were spectacular. Once we were seated it took about 10 minutes for anyone to come over and take our drinks. However, once we were waited on we had fantastic service the rest of the meal. The food was lacking and overpriced for what you get. The food was ok and not great. The popovers were the best part of the meal. I gave it 4 stars because it really has great views and the service was great. If they could focus on improving the quality of their food it would be 5 stars.

We planned a lunch stop here during our first day exploring Acadia. I would recommend arriving early. Parking is a major issue. Thankfully we were able to snag a spot as someone else left during out second attempt at circling the three parking lots. We didn't have reservations, so we put our name in and waited about 45 minutes. Thankfully, it's a beautiful area, so we walked some of the trails and explored the gift shop. We grabbed a popover kit to try to recreate the experience at home. It was mid-July, so we sat outside. The inside looked as if it could use some updating and the AC had trouble keeping it cool. Thankfully, the servers did a great job making sure we had plenty of ice water. The food was good, though as others have commented, overpriced. You are definitely paying for the location. The popovers are definitely the star of the show. Next time, we would just opt for a round of those. One major pain point was our server. The kid looked annoyed to be working. My two kids ordered from the kids menu, which is supposed to come with drinks. The ordered Dr. Pepper, which they don't have. He recommended Root Beer instead. One of them went with that, the other chose lemonade. The Root Beer came in a bottle, which told me not to expect refills like with a normal soda. When the bill came, it was almost $12 for both of their drinks. When questioned, he said those weren't part of the kids meal and they should have ordered something else. I asked why he didn't let us know this when we ordered to which he replied he assumed we knew. It's clearly a historic and long-standing establishment. As such, I expected more. We can cross it off our bucket-list, but probably wouldn't go back.

Side Street Cafe is a local favorite in Bar Harbor for its burgers, lobster dishes, and friendly staff. The restaurant offers regular happy hour specials as well as unique items on their menu.
Really great food! We loved everything. My burger was a touch overcooked ( wanted it to be medium rare, but it was more medium well but it was still really tasty!) Clam chowder was really rich, and had some good amount of seafood in there! The crab dip was SO GOOD! It was more than enough for the 4 of us. Really rich and would absolutely get it again. We also had the grilled haddock, the haddock reuben, the full rack and mac, and the Our servers were lovely and attentive and everything came out quickly! Portions were big, and we had enough even for dinner that night. The mac and cheese and ribs were amazing. it's like a mountain! Perfect for sharing in my opinion if you do the full rack especially. I loved that they had ways to customize your meal with sides and loads of variety on the menu. I'd love to stop by again! If you're in the area I would recommend you stop in!

Great little stop in Bar Harbor! We split a pitcher of margaritas for two, a roasted veggie salad, haddock Reuben, and the build your own Mac with onions and red peppers (post-hiking meal!!) The pitcher was a bit small but we got around 2 small margaritas each. The salad came out first and was absolutely delicious. The Reuben had a wonderful piece of haddock on it. The fries we upgraded for and the Mac n cheese were both extremely under-seasoned. We added our own salt, but would have preferred a bit more seasoning when served. Only reason for the 4 and not 5 stars. Our waitress was super friendly and the online reservation system was great. All over a great spot for dinner. Oh

I tried Side Street on the suggestion of the crew working at Acadia GEMS. Best choice for a quick dinner after a day of hiking! I enjoyed it so much that I went back the next day with a friend for dinner and then the retreat group that we met up with selected Side Street as our lunch stop on Sunday. So yes, I ate at Side Street 3 times in 4 days! No regrets!! The happy hour menu is on point! But also, the Cadillac Fries and Lost Lobster platter were both first class! 12 out of 10 stars!

We stopped by here to have our brunch. We ordered Lean burger, Shrimps with Pita and Lobster roll. The shrimp dish was really good, with pieces of crispy fried bread and grilled shrimps. The lobster roll was fresh but little bland and could have used some seasonings. The lean burger dish was definitely unexpected, it was a mush without a patty, fell apart, and was super bland, wouldn’t recommend it. The staff were friendly and service was pretty quick. Overall, I would recommend this spot if you are in Bar Harbor and looking for a nice lunch hangout place!

Day 2: Review update: yesterday, I came and left tree stars (review below). Today, I came back because there was nearly nothing else open on Easter Sunday eve in Bar Harbor. My $20 lobster stew was actually quite good, tasty, and there was a decent portion of lobster meat in it (more than what there seems to be on the pic). Service was still very good. I have to say, my experience today was different and, according to it, I’d come back and recommend it to friends. Day 1: Not impressed but service is good. $25 for a lobster Caesar salad with very little lobster, a couple of spoonfuls at best, far less than what you get in a roll. Also, it was drowning in Caesar’s salad sauce, which made the dish quite salty. Food is not inedible but I wouldn’t be back in a hurry.

Great spot for dinner and drinks. The lobsters rolls are full of luscious meat and served chilled. Their margaritas are good and they offer a variety of flavors; mango, blueberry and more. They have plenty of seating indoor and out. The bar is also a great place to pull up a seat and have some drinks/food. Checkout their happy hour specials!

A pretty good spot in Acadia National Park to eat. We visited twice. I had the Nomad burger the first time and the grilled chicken Diablo sandwich the second time. Wife had the lobster cesar salad, the salad could have had a bigger lobster portion. Burger was great. We also had the clam chowder, that was good also. One of the best spots in the area. Most places around only sale fried food which is not our preference. If we are in the area again we would come back. Customer service is pretty good.

First timer looking to try the clam chowder that was stated to be the best in Bar Harbor. Fast and friendly service. Clean location. Kid friendly beyond the norm. They gave out little packets of colored clay for the kids to create with and then can be left on display in the cafe. The clam chowder was excellent. They were out of oyster crackers so they gave us fresh, hot baked bread instead. Lightly covered with butter, the bread was very tasty! Kids had the Mac & Cheese and it was very good. The blueberry beer was good and the addition of a handful of wild maine blueberry's in the glass was great. Tried the blueberry pie and it was excellent. Had it "warm" without a scoop of ice cream and regret not adding a scoop of vanilla. My wife had a margarita with sugar instead of salt and she LOVED it. If you are in bar Harbor give this place a try.

Came to downtown harbor to grab dinner. The atmosphere looked good so we stopped in, we also had a dog so we were looking for outdoor dining restaurants. The place was super busy as we came here on Holiday weekend. But we got table pretty quickly. The food was pretty tasty, we had non-alcoholic beverages which were refreshing. It was the perfect spot to grab dinner after a long day of hiking and sightseeing!

Wanted so badly to love you, Side Street. Sadly the food was average and the service was below average. With all the options available in Bar Harbor, sorry to say, the official recommendation here is: SKIP it. Probably more like a 4.2. THE GOOD: -the shrimp salad was excellent with really tasty dressing. -The lobster bisque base was also outstanding (and gluten free!), though the lobster chunks tasted fishy. -The BLT wrap was okay. THE BAD - The lobster here was just okay. Feels like a bit of a tourist trap. The lobster mac was very average, but a little bland. You need to cook the noodles with salty water. THE UGLY: -Our server never refilled our waters. - One of our salads came without the dressing and we had to wait to get it. -Our chocolate cake with berry compote came sans compote. And when we asked for the berries he simply said they were out, but then still charged us full price. - After our dinner we waited 20 mins before the check.

Had my 1st Lobster roll here and I got hooked (fisherman humor). What a great find. Do yourself a favor and get off the main drag and go to the Side Street Cafe. Nice wait staff, good amount of seating, and excellent food. Crab dip was so good that I forgot to take a pic before eating half of it..

Excellent and quick service. The waitress even mentioned the price of the specials. I got the chicken caprese salad and substituted it with shrimp they did not even charge me extra for the shrimp! The fries were well seasoned and the calm chowder was thick and delicious. The blueberry margarita was strong and tasty. My husband got the burger it came with chips and a lot of avocado. The burger was okay but the rest was very good.

This was our first time here. Bar Harbor was a hopping place and we did the online wait list, started at #44 and our wait ended up being 40 minutes. The process was easy, and now the food part.... wait for it.... food was awesome. The service was also exceptional, from the hist, to our waitress to the food runners. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

After a long day of hiking at Acadia National Park, we found this wonderful spot to unwind and relax. It had come highly recommended, and we decided to have dinner here. What impressed us right away was their user-friendly website, offering online reservations and a wait-list feature that kept us informed. We only had to wait about 20-25 minutes before our table was ready. For our main courses, we opted for the Lobster Feast and Lost Lobster, which included clam chowder and lobster bisque. While the food was good, it didn't quite reach the level of excellence. However, what truly stole the show was the blueberry pie with ice cream. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next day solely for another slice of pie. Without a doubt, this place serves the best blueberry pie in Bar Harbor, having tried a few others. We wholeheartedly recommend indulging in their delectable blueberry pie. IG: journey_man16

We got the sweet potatoes fries which were hot, crispy and salted well, although cut way too small. The honey mustard served with the fries was seriously incredible! My boyfriend got the Cowboy Mac and he said it was good. I got the lobster roll with a side salad instead of chips. I think $40 for a lobster roll was extremely expensive for what it was. It was served on a thin slice of plain white grocery store bread. It would have been nice if it was on a brioche bun for that price. It has butter on it but no mayo. It was slightly soggy and falling apart by the end. I will say though, they do put a GENEROUS amount of lobster meat in there, so that contributes to the price. Overall, I’ve had a better lobster price at a better price in Boston, but this place is pretty good.

I took my family to Side Street Cafe in Bar Harbor. We had an awesome time there. This place is great for kids. They gave my girls Play-Doh to play with while we waited for our food. It kept them entertained while we enjoyed the atmosphere. The food at Side Street Cafe was fantastic! We tried the haddock tacos. The fish was soft and tasted great. I also tried a spicy margarita. It was the best one I've ever had! It was spicy but not too hot, and it tasted great with the tacos. So, if you're in Bar Harbor, you should visit Side Street Cafe. It's a fun place for families, and the food is great. Try the tacos and the spicy margarita!

We loved blueberry infused lemonade. My shrimp taco was flavorful, shrimp was juicy and delicious. My husband loved his haddock sandwich. As so many people recommended blueberry pie, we ordered one with ice cream. That was our downhill for this meal, it was just too sweet for us. All in all, we enjoyed our food, but we would stay away from blueberry pie next time.

Located in Bar Harbor, the Thirsty Whale Tavern is a favorite hangout for locals looking for fantastic seafood dishes at fair prices. The tavern features a warm and welcoming atmosphere, alongside a fully-stocked bar. The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the lobster roll, which is served traditionally and delicious.
Went here a week before memorial day so it wasn’t so busy. We also came in at soon as they open, server was very friendly and attentive. We just ordered a quick bite before we drive home. Lobster roll was great, a lot of meat and tasted very fresh! One of the best I’ve had. Shrimp was also fresh and perfectly cooked. Loved our quick lunch

Stopped in while visiting from Delaware. Really cool setup inside. Lots of tin and wood. The food was good. The lobster roll had large pieces of lump lobster. It was the best thing we had. The beer list was a diverse set of local choices. They weren't great but we appreciated the choice. The staff was very friendly. Definetly stop in.

Went on a road trip to Maine and our last stop was Bar Harbor. After a full day at the Acadia Mountains, we came to the Thirsty Whale Tavern and were not disappointment. -The lobster roll was stuffed and tasted very fresh. -The fries were nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. - Coleslaw 7/10 - Pasta salad was on the sour side due to too much vinegar. The service was very great. I asked for hot drink options and the server brought me lemon tea and gave me honey as well and made good suggestions for my partner too. She was very attentive and kept checking in on us, made suggestions for good and takeout options. The atmosphere was nice, it was busy and everyone seemed to be having a great time. All the locals in the area were very welcoming. Definitely a great place to stop by if you’re in town! They may stay open late but their kitchen does close couple hours earlier so do make sure to call and check that.

Thirsty Whale offered a cozy snug on a rainy night. Clam chowder was fantastic! The blackened fish and chips were good, but the fried whole belly clams were perfect—crispy and flavorful. The front desk check-in staffer was curt, but the friendly waitress made up for it. Overall, a delightful seafood experience in a cozy setting.

We had the chowder which was delicious and we’ve had chowder several places; blackened fish and chips and blackened ceaser salad I started eating and 1/2 way through realized I should have taken a picture. Food was one of the best places we’ve eaten sat far prices were very reasonable compared to others in the area. We were very pleased.

Wow! Everything was amazingly cooked and our server went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and were happy! He made great suggestions as well! I had the lobster roll which was a little smaller than expected but excellent! Their whale salad is really flavorful almost sort of a play on a greek salad! The marsh island IPA was so good, I got 2 and I usually never have more than 2 beer with dinner. We also tried the fish and chips, the blacked fish sandwhich and the fried haddock sandwhich, a bowl of clam chowder as well as the seafood sampler. We loved the clam chowder is even rivals a spot in Boston that has my heart. For dessert we all shared the blueberry white chocolate cheesecake which was delicious but the little blueberry sauce on the side was so dang good. I would've eaten that off a shoe. Everything was hot, tasty and fresh! We would love to come in again. 10000% recommend this place. We also picked up some cute merch as well! This place wasnt too packed since they just opened yesterday but in so happy it was open so we could stop by!

This was our favorite local spot when my friend and I were visiting Bar Harbor. The prices are fairly reasonable in comparison to a lot of the places serving lobster dishes in town. My friend got the clam chowder, which was good, but not the best. My Caesar salad was also good, but not great. The service was a little slow and the table felt a little sticky when we sat down. I had a good experience here but it could have been better.

Thurston's Lobster Pound is a family-run seafood restaurant that serves local lobster and crab dishes in wonderful harbor views. The meat in their lobster roll is wonderfully plump and tender, making it a must-try for any fan of lobster.
Did a family trip through Maine and went to so many lobster restaurants but this one is a MUST go! The line can be a bit long but worth every minute. Get the boiled lobster for sure! We had a lobster melt, jumbo lobster rolls, crab roll, lobster dip and lobster stew. I wish I could go back and get even more stew. So amazing. Everything!! Customer service is amazing. They accidently oversold us on crab cakes and asked what we wanted instead. Anything! We got another boiled lobster! Don't miss this place! It's the best.

Lunch with a view! Thurston lobster pound was a prefect place for us to grab lunch when visiting the Seawall area of Acadia National Park. Located right on the water, we got a seat on the deck and was able to enjoy the beautiful Maine sun with feasting on fresh lobsters. We ordered one soft shell lobster to share, an appetizer crab cake, and a pound of mussels. The lobster was so fresh and had a nice sweet taste to it. The crab cakes were to die for. Highly recommend visiting this lobster pound!

My wife and I had a wonderful meal at Thurston's Lobster Pound. Everything was very fresh and the views were fantastic. Definitely worth the trip out to Bass Harbor and was one of the top two meals we had on Mount Desert Island.

I was here back in June of 2023, and I’m still thinking about the meal I ate there 6 months later. The lobster was the best. Just the best I’ve ever had. Cooked fresh and delivered right to my table. Everyone working here is super nice and takes pride in what they do. The environment is really cool, as the restaurant sits right over the water with the tables jutting out over the bay. Absolutely worth stopping at if you’re visiting the area. There’s also a local cat that hangs out in front of the place and says hi to everyone.

Jumbo lobster roll worth. Blueberry cake was good. Everything else mediocre Was hungry and excited after the lighthouse. Waited around an hour to order at 7pm on a summer weekday Ordered a 2.1lb jumbo lobster, clam dinner, jumbo lobster roll and an alcoholic drink. Total $110 + gratuity Pro tip: if you go jumbo (1.8+ lbs, go big or pick a smaller size). The price differential for a 2-3 lb lobster is not worth it. Biggest regret of the night Works similar to other new england restaurants: wait on a long line, order, receive a number, seat yourself and server brings food The goods: Jumbo lobster roll is double the size of bar harbor restaurants and cheaper. Hands down best value here The not so goods: Lobster was fresh and picked out right before you. Tasted slightly better than average. Butter was standard Clams full of sand and not worth $15+ per lb Hour wait to order + food preparation time for above average priced lobster not worth

Worth the wait! Husband had the soft shell lobster and was thrilled with it. I had the big lobster roll and it was great. Sides of Cole slaw and corn were just as good and their mussels were deliciously fresh and clean, I enjoyed them and I don't usually enjoy mussels. Outdoor seating was so serene and relaxing, watching the boats come and go.

Counter service. They bring food to your table. Out of the way but worth the trip. About 30 mins outside Bar Harbor. Great views of bay. We had the crab rolls ($26 regular, $34 jumbo) which was on the specials board as a variation from the many lobster rolls we'd eaten. Local crab has very mild flavor, nothing special. I'd opt for a lobster roll on a do-over.

Our visit to Thurston’s Lobster Pound was an impressive seafood journey. Despite arriving just prior to opening and being met with a line, we found that the wait was minimal. Thanks to the efficient service, we placed our order within a mere 10 minutes. At Thurston’s, you order your food and initial round of drinks at a window, which is a unique, streamlined process. If you’ve ordered drinks, you’re subsequently seated close to the bar, an arrangement that conveniently allows for easy refills. A handy tip for those who might not be in the mood for steamed lobster: you can bypass the line, settle in at the bar, and order any other item from their delectable menu. As for the food, the lobsters were nothing short of amazing—among the best we savored on our entire trip. Perfectly prepared and brimming with flavor, they were a highlight that underscored the reputation of Thurston’s. On top of the delicious lobsters, we treated ourselves to their signature blueberry mojitos—a must-try for anyone visiting! The unique, locally-inspired cocktail was the perfect companion to our seafood feast and added a refreshing twist. In summary, Thurston’s Lobster Pound is a stellar choice for its quick and efficient service, outstanding lobsters, and irresistible blueberry mojitos. For anyone seeking a high-quality seafood experience, this place is a must-visit. I look forward to my next dining adventure here.

Loved this place! Would drive up again here for sure! Counter staff were a pleasant group to chat with along with scrumptious seafood. The beer and alcohol selection is great along with non seafood items. I had the lobster dip along with the haddock chowder which was on fire! The lobster meal I selected was a warm filling portion on a dreary day. Would recommend it here and make sure you get a spot due to limited parking. I definitely would recommend coming here!

Excellent friendly staff. Seafood is extremely fresh. Wish they had more options for the lobsters. I love lobster tail but not the rest of the lobster so much. Also the butter was good but would like a few more options. The menu is complicated to read for someone not familiar with New England.

Quiet side of the island not-so-quiet but exceptional all-in-one Maine seafood experience! Solid lobster roll, even if I don’t prefer Mayo on there, lobster stew was very intense and rich. You order and then sit down, we continued to ‘upgrade’ till we were dock side. And if you happen to fly a drone, it’s a great harbor at sunset to lift off from and then eat at.

Got a jumbo lobster roll, jumbo crab roll, and crab cakes. It was so so good we had to get a second lobster roll. Finished off with a small size whole steamed lobster. What a meal. One of the best seafood meals we’ve had. The location is cute and outside seating is warm when the sun is shining on you. If you go to bar harbor this place is a must try.

We sat on the upper level in the new area next to the bar. The service was outstanding. The food was outstanding, our party of four enjoyed the lobster stew the haddock chowder and a black bean burger, and also a few draft beers. We really enjoyed the view out over the bay and in general had a wonderful time. Well worth the drive will definitely come back again.

We had a lot of lobster on our vacation to Maine, but we had the best lobster here! The atmosphere was fun and casual. If you get a whole lobster, they pull it out of a tank right there as you are ordering! The service was friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Good grief this place was delicious. Found where the locals go to get their fix with lobster. Everything we tried was outstanding including the corn on a cob. Lobster by the pound with butter dipping sauce was money. So fresh. I literally picked my lobster off the dock. Their instruction guide for helping rookies like us was so helpful. Lobster BLT was huge! So much bigger than a lobster roll. The Lobster cheese dip was insane. Salute the staff for that little genius appetizer Blueberry crisp was also excellent. Only complaint: you need gluten free bread. Everywhere else offers a lobster roll on GF.

Was recommended that this may have the best Lobster around. Tough to disagree. Only stopped in for a drink and a couple apps! The Lobster Roll and Lobster Stew.. Were absolutely amazing! The chunks of Lobster tasted so Fresh! The atmosphere was great as we could look out over the bay! The service was top notch and would say this place is worth going out of your way for.

Excellent place to get a classic Maine lobster dinner. My wife and I both had a two pound lobster meal and split a pound of steam clams. Blue Berry crisp for desert ordered after we ate. It came out warm with vanilla ice cream. Worthwhile upgrade from the blue Berry cake included with the meal. Been there many times and will definitely be back!

Can’t get any fresher! We watched them unload the boats and the lobsters came right up and into the restaurant! Has the lobster roll! So good! Must stop. Seemed to us it was on the less traveled side of the area. Outstanding views.

Latin American restaurant
Located conveniently near beautiful Acadia National Park, Havana is an elegant and vibrant restaurant known for its fusion of Latin and American cuisine. For over two decades, this upscale dining destination has been serving up delicious meals made with the freshest locally-sourced ingredients from a variety of regional suppliers such as Mandala Farm. With delectable options like seafood paellas, filet mignons, and flank steaks, diners can indulge in a contemporary blend of flavors.
Great spot to grab dinner in Bar Harbor. Located at one end of the shore path, Havana has a mixture of various Latin American foods. The black bean soup was a great starter, and we followed it up with paella (with seafood on the side). Be aware that it can get pretty busy, so if you don't have a reservation be prepared to wait. There is outdoor seating available as well. We sat at the bar, which was a fine experience and was available immediately. There are many places in town to eat, but Havana is one of the best!

I wasn't intending on reviewing this place, but as soon as I dug into this lamb I just knew I had to. My wife had made reservations ahead of time as we were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary. I figured I would indulge myself and get the lamb chops. This lamb was so delicate and tasty. Whatever they were crusted in was delightful. I didn't grab a picture before i started eating, but once I realized I wanted to review the place I gathered what was left. This was enough to get a 5 star review from me. Then desert came we opted for the Tres Leches. The staff was so nice to use since the moment we walked in congratulating us. Then they wrote this in chocolate on our desert. Really superb. I will hands down visit this place whenever I am back in town.

We spent 5 days in Bar Harbor and loved Havana so much we went here for dinner twice. The Paella was excellent, the Solomillo and Grilled Peach Salad were phenomenal. It’s a fun environment and very efficient. We had the same waitress both times and she was great. We ate a lot of food, but this is the place I will wish I could come back to.

I live in Miami most of the year so when my wife told me we were going to a Cuban restaurant in Bar Harbor, Maine I honestly thought she was joking. But my wife doesn’t kid around…not when it comes to food. Havana is the nicest, finest restaurant in this lovely harbor town. The paella and farm salad are to die for. Really.

Top tier restaurant on MDE. Restaurant overall is bold, classic, and has excellent service staff. I found the lobster moqueca to be my favorite lobster dish while on the island. The complexity of flavors in the entree were wonderful. Warm, buttery, tender, and perfectly balanced. Jasmine rice, cilantro, pineapples, and lobster all in perfect harmony. The Cuban rum was extremely aromatic and balanced. Havana is a gem.

Wow! This is an incredible restaurant and all around was such a nice dinner experience. I wrote on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and they had a birthday card sitting on the table for us. We also started with an aperitif that was a small, delicious bite! They brought bread for the table both gluten free and regular. They have dips for the bread that were amazing as well. We got the mushroom egg rolls as a starter which was fantastic. They were super hot but delicious and the sauce complemented really nicely. We tried the vegetable dish, lamb, paella, and lobster moqueca. Every dish was so amazing and flavorful. The paella was my favorite and is one of the best I’ve had (probably the best). They even brought over a small dessert at the end of the night which was a nice touch. The server was very friendly, helpful and nice. All around a really wonderful time at Havana and we’ll definitely go back any time we are in the area! I love that they change their menu with the different months so I would love to come back and try new items.

Everything was incredible, from food to the service and atmosphere. We came for our anniversary and the host made sure to congratulate us, there was a card on the table, and they brought us a complimentary truffle/fruit dessert. Service was great, lamb chops and lobster moqueca were amazing, wine was fantastic. We couldn’t stop staring at the paella at other tables. Don’t second guess, just go!

If you are visiting Bar Harbor you HAVE to eat at Havana. My husband and I always make sure to get a reservation before our trip as they are always busy, but you cannot pass up this restaurant. The service was excellent and professional and the food was absolutely mouth watering! We loved the steak, farm salad, and shrimp and scallops. We also had the velvet chocolate cake for dessert. Thank you Havana for a wonderful meal and experience!

Great atmosphere. Outstanding food. The farm salad was Cobb salad’s hotter cousin. I scraped every plate I was served. The dessert menu was very creative and the cheesecake was delicious. Cocktails were spirit forward.

Wonderful imaginative food in a beautiful setting. Make certain you schedule reservations as this location is extremely popular with both locals and tourists. We secured a 5:45 time and people were already waiting for a table. By the time we departed the restaurant was packed. Staff handled the big crowd with professional service. We were very impressed.

Best meal I have had all vacation and in quite a long time. Everything I had (Buratta salad and mixed grill) was prepared perfectly and tasted amazing... the sauces with each grill item were especially good... the "Maine Mule" was great as well. Loved the outdoor bar and seating area. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in a non-lobster meal in Bar Harbor...

This place is a must when visiting Bar Harbor. It was by far our favorite meal during our stay. The food is fresh and imaginative. It is all organic and sourced locally. The roasted chicken was so juicy and flavorful. It was hard to not want to eat here for every dinner during our stay. If you’re looking for creative flavors and something different than diner food or seafood, make sure to visit Havana. It was such a different experience than the typical food in town.

Amazing dinner, top 5 favorite stops on our trip. Excellent alcohol / cocktail / wine list to start off, they went the extra mile to give us a card when we said it was our anniversary and brought a glass bottle (Mexican) come for my rum and coke. Oysters to start was a great choice, homemade a accoutrements. Salads were fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.
