What a cute little store in this town. Never been to Ontonagon before. It sure is cute. Very nice owners. Great selection of guitars, gifts. You can even get a cup.of coffee. This town gets tons of snow in the winter which is just not for me but according to the owners, It stays open year round. Give it a try.

Syl's Cafe is a welcoming and comfortable eatery with delicious food. The menu features pizza, cheese curds, grilled chicken salad and pasties. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
The food was good. Wife said the fish sandwich was good, I had a burger, it was good. The big stars were the buns. But the service was a little lackluster. It wasn’t the busiest but took awhile for the waitstaff to round back after dropping the food off. A nice bakery counter with a nice selection inside. We got an assortment of muffins and donuts. They were tasty as well. A small cozy vibe inside. Pictures of local nature spots available for sale off the walls.

Ever since getting to the UP I've been on a quest for the best pasty I could find, and syl's Cafe wasn't it. Don't get me wrong, while certainly not the worst, it was somewhere in the middle of the many I've tried. As with the others that I've tried they all seem to have really wonderful pastry exteriors but the filling is very boiled potato, this one was no different although I will say it came with a nice side of gravy that wasn't too bad. The desserts all looked wonderful I even tried a bear claw which was very tasty. The service was friendly and outstanding, it's a cute little diner set up, I'm sure they must do a great breakfast.
Burton Fleisher — Google review
We arrived at the diner around 6pm..eastern time...had to drive around for an available parking space. The staff were very friendly..along with other customers...I ordered a BLT which was not shy in bacon or tomatoes...very delicious...My husband ordered a Patty Melt with beer- battered fries..great tasting.....because it was our anniversary the waitress sent us back to our room with on-the-house pastries..what generosity..the staff was busy with plates and orders, manning the bakery, and preparing to-go bags..no slouching here!!!! It was a thrilling place....only one urp ..I didn't use the ladies' room because the door knob was loose...otherwise it's a 5*** establishment!!!!

Great food, service and prices. Stopped in for lunch while traveling for work.had the Chicken BLT salad and a chocolate chip cookie. (Ya eat salads to shorten the cookie guilt trip😉) The salad was huge with a lot if chicken and BLT fixins'. Homemade ranch. Yummy. The cookie was excellent... large, soft, choc chippy and only 75 cents. In my area cookies like cost much more. If in the area stop in. You won't be disappointed.

Loved our experience at Syl’s. Caught a last minute dinner prior to closing for our first visit. Atmosphere was so pleasant and inviting with such an “updated feeling” inside that we went back for breakfast. Fresh goodies in the bakery counter topped is off and gave fattening fuel for later on our rock hunting excursions.

Very friendly service. Love the pictures hanging up from local artists (pics are for sale as well) and the cozy feel of the place. It was only 19 degrees outside, but nice and warm inside. The doughnuts were fresh and the turtle cheesecake was amazing... it was different because it had a fudge layer over the bottom crust, covered by creamy cheesecake, and topped with caramel and pecans. Topped it off with hot cocoa.

The Squeeze on Main is a family-owned establishment in Ontonagon, opened by Kathy Wardynski and her daughters Julie Roe and Lori Wardynski. It's a cozy spot with a cool patio that welcomes dogs. The place offers healthy food options, including salads and killer paninis served with local potato chips. They also provide catering services for events like weddings, offering delicious meals, homemade pies, and coordinating with local bakers for desserts.
DOG FRIENDLY/COOL PATIO ENTER FROM BACK Stumbled upon this place purely by luck. My relative was looking for something healthy since she had been travelling with me and we had hit every bakery and every brewery in the UP. This place is a cool small grocery/food ordering/small bar. My cousin got a salad. I got this killer panini which came with some local potato chips that instantly rocketed up to #1 in best chip ever. Service was quick and efficient. Relative got a margarita and loved it. Lots of locals picking up lunch while we were there. Whoever did the interior has a great eye for design. Really cool spot!

This was the perfect little place to get a refreshing lunch - I got a sandwich and a smoothie, both were delicious. I appreciated all the smoothie options! There is also a little corner market area with a few grocery staples such as fresh meats and vegetables.

Came for the John Amos pancakes of my youth. I was not disappointed. First rate! There was also Margie’s Belgian waffles. Somehow I don’t remember those being served as a kid. My wife loved them though and they looked delicious. The Squeeze is great place to eat anytime of the day.

Best salads in the northwoods (besides Wild Berry in Minocqua of course). There are also tons of healthy food options such as low carb bowls, fruit and veggie smoothies, fresh juice, etc. Do not pass the Squeeze On Main!

The rehearsal and reception for our wedding were catered by Kathy and her family/staff and they did an amazing job! Both meals were wonderful and they also acquired the kegs/taps for us, supplied all the cutlery and serving materials, made homemade pies for dessert after the rehearsal dinner, came back after the meals to clean up/pack to-go boxes, and also coordinated with a local gal to make cupcakes for after our reception. Our guests raved about every aspect of the meals and many people went up for seconds, if not thirds! If you want simple, no-nonsense, delicious food, this is definitely the place to go! We are so happy that it worked out as they were already really busy with a lot of events in town! Make sure you book with plenty of notice as I am sure this they will only continue to get more busy at both locations and with catering! Kathy is a true professional, and she and her entire family work with her to make amazing food and to provide a wonderful experience. Do not hesitate to book them for your catering needs! As an aside, the food served at the Squeeze/Syl's is also amazing! Fresh, local ingredients and really tasty food! Our guests ended up at one of the restaurants during the day throughout the weekend and loved it. We are so happy that we were able to support such an amazing business and we will hopefully be back up soon!

Bar
Roxey's Bar & Grill offers excellent cuisine and efficient, friendly service. The waitstaff go above and beyond, ensuring a pleasant dining experience while continuously displaying their sense of humor and always wearing a smile. Although the back area may be cluttered, and the bathrooms and ceilings could use some upgrading, this establishment is still worth checking out for any visitor. Even for takeout orders, the staff remains accommodating and engaging with customers at their tables.
Stopped in for lunch after a cold snowmobile ride. Waitress was alone... But she did a great job handling our large group! Her friend jumped in to help as well... Very friendly and the food was good too!

Place smelled of booze when we walked in, worse than a normal bar. Atmosphere was friendly to some degree and met some nice people. The fries were really good, all the other food we got, the bbq pork; and Italian sandwiches were… sub par at best. We still enjoyed our meal but only chose this place because it was the only one in town still open.

While I did get my food to go, the person who took my order was SO nice and I even chatted with a few people sitting and having dinner at a table. I got a bacon cheeseburger and it was one of the Best burgers I've ever had!!! So delicious, I ate the whole thing!

Very good food. Our waitress was fast, efficient, friendly...while running her hiney off! Never lost her sense of humor or smile once! Only took off one star for the jumble of stuff at back where we sat, and need of upgraded bathrooms and ceilings... But for someplace for a stranger to swing in to.... DEFINITELY worth the checking out....

Mark Tangen — Google review
My family and I just stopped by Roxey's for the first time ever to grab a bite to eat after a day of picking blueberries and I must say that it was a fantastic little dive. The best burgers in town, hands-down, and the owners were just as friendly as can be. I can't believe that I've never been in there before. One of the downsides of local gems such as Roxey's these days is that nobody wants to work anymore since Michigan is quickly becoming a welfare state like California or New York. As soon as we walked in, the owners were up front and told us that they're understaffed and have been working open to close for who knows how many days/weeks/years now, and asked for patience as they might not be able to get to us as quickly as we'd like. We weren't in a hurry, and there was an open table large enough for our part of seven, so that wasn't a problem. With that being said, we still had our orders taken and food on the table faster than we anticipated, so zero complaints there. Unfortunately, the couple that came in after us wasn't so forgiving, decided that waiting wasn't worth it, and got up and left after sitting for five or ten minutes. You could tell the owners took it pretty hard. They're goal is to make the experience the best that they possibly can for all of their customers, but when you're holding down the fort from open to close without any help, you can only spread yourself so thin. Keep that in mind if the place is hopping, and don't take it personally if you're waiting for a few minutes. Instead of waiting and being impatient or rude, just stand up, walk three feet to the bar, and get yourself some drinks while you're waiting for someone to take your order. If your legs ain't broken, there's no excuse not to use them.
Ryan Lewis — Google review
You have to understand what you're stepping into when you walk into this place - it's not a fast food restaurant, nor is it a grab and go. The food and drink is made and served by a limited number of hard working folk - who do their best even with a frequent overload of patrons. While it did take a little while to get our food, it came out piping hot and fresh off the grill. This place is a great experience of a small hometown bar and grill.

I wasn't sure about this place, but my sister and niece talked me into it. Waitress/bartender was very busy taking drink and food orders. Then trying to get the food out, once done, out in a timely manner. I would go there maybe during the week and not when it's so busy on a football Sunday.

I ordered the Lumber Jack chicken breast. Description read succulent chicken breast smothered in mushrooms and sauteed onions. I was given a previously frozen, child's size portion (4-6 ounces) had 3 slices of mushrooms and a few slices of sauteed onions = maybe a tablespoon of toppings. My side of onion rings were burnt to a crisp..they would have been perfect to sprinkle over Green bean casserole! Our server was very attentive, and we knew it was not his fault. He replaced my burnt onion rings with a cup of soup..the soup was the best part of our meal. It's very sad when you pay just shy of $50 for a meal and leave the table hungry!!😩 We had to eat food in our room so we didn't go to bed hungry!! The Continental breakfast was descent, NO hand sanitizer, NO Sink in sight! We used napkins to hold,/handle tongs, spoons etc. Thinking this place is going to be identified as a Super Spreader! Absolutely NO precautions in place!!

Ever go to a restaurant and be told the dining room is closed till the cooks catch up? It happened to us. Paul's Restaurant has a dining room the size of a banquet hall with only 6 tables, 3 of which had people at it. We walk in at 6:30, sit down and the waitress comes over and tells us the dining room is closed till the cooks catch up. The really strange thing was at least 2 of the 3 occupied tables already had their food. So, us and one other table would have been ordering.

Our burritos were just ok. Service was just ok. We ate in the bar. Inattentive bartender during our meal. But once I paid and asked, “which way to the lake?”, he said he’d escort us there. Weird. Glad we got a meal in tho after a long day of hiking. I think I could’ve eaten my shoe and it would’ve tasted good. Also, styrofoam plates are a huge turn off.

We love the fish fry at this restaurant. It's very reasonably priced and the portions are huge!

I absolutely loved the burger I had there. 10/10 would recommend. The sweet potato fries was so good too. The waitress was new, but still did a really good job. The view of the lake was perfect.. It looks like the dining area was supposed to be very formal and to that extend I would suggest nicer silverware and maybe some light music. Nevertheless, I would definitely eat there again.

Service is always really good here. Very friendly staff in the restaurant and bar. Food is good. Could spend a little more attention to detail. Our soup was not hot, chicken breast was a little anemic. Everything tasted good.

Good food, the bartender/server was excellent but he really needed help. They didn't have a full menu maybe a staffing thing.
