American restaurant
The Copper Grill in Copperhill is a popular spot known for its accommodating staff, quick service, and delicious food. They are famous for their burgers and salads but also offer special menu items on occasion. The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere with a walk-up order counter, making it convenient for grabbing lunch or snacks during your Copperhill adventure. Visitors have praised the reasonably priced food and quick service, recommending dishes like the bourbon burger and Philly cheesesteak as must-tries.
Oh my goodness, this was such a fantastic meal! The menu offered a lot of standard foods, like varieties of hamburgers and sandwiches. But any thing that we ordered in my family was delicious. My black and bleu burger was absolutely great, my son's Buffalo chicken tenders were delicious, and even the mozzarella sticks (which I normally don't like) were fresh made and deep fried and gigantic. I can't say enough how was only surprised I was over such a delicious meal and we will definitely be back there

Dad ordered the catfish, I had the chicken & shrimp & my hubby ordered the copper chicken. Also ordered a cheeseburger to go since I heard how good they are and it did NOT disappoint. Very reasonable prices also. I highly recommend

Visited here by train riding. Nice place to have a quick and qualified lunch. Strong recommendation is the Club Panini, soooo delicious, also the price is reasonable.

We stopped in this little joint on a family getaway and had the best experience! The walk-up order counter introduces the restaurant’s friendly and family-centric, laid back atmosphere. Food was reasonably priced, and ordering/receiving our food was quick. Everything we ordered was awesome . . . only crumbs left. The bourbon burger was recommended to us, and it did not disappoint. My husband and I considered the Philly cheesesteak better than those we’ve ordered in Philadelphia! Their signature catfish nuggets were lightly fried and delicious (we were told they usually run out quickly). For gluten-sensitive diners, the chopped steak received an “A++” from my sister-in-law! Seasoned fries with homemade ranch rounded off the meals. This place is perfect for a quick stop and casual enough to visit after rafting or tubing in the Ocoee River!

My mom and I visited The Copper Grill last month while riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. When the train emptied there was a sea of people rushing to different restaurants to try to have time to eat & shop before getting back on the train. We rushed down the street to The Copper Grill & patiently waited outside to go in & place our order. A waitress came out & made a loud & angry sounding announcement for everyone to keep the door to the restaurant closed while waiting so as not to let the cool air out & flies in (smart thinking but maybe could have said it nicer). Once I made it inside to order the cashier was very nice and answered all my questions while ordering. I sent my mom to scope us out a table since you must seat yourself. We ended up sitting outside since the entire restaurant was packed. During lunch I witnessed a waitress come outside and move a younger woman’s drink & car keys from an empty table and informed the young girl that she could not sit at an entire table by herself since they had a family with small children waiting inside to sit down. The young girl got upset and she left with the group of guys she was with (who had already finished eating at the table next to hers & were literally just taking up space at that point). I was both shocked and impressed by this waitress for making sure the family with children who actually ordered food already had a place to sit. The food came out FAST and was HOT and delicious. These hard working folks definitely know how to run a business during a lunch rush. We had the fried catfish with fries, coleslaw and fried onion petals. I would definitely stop by again if in the area.

Delicious, well-priced food. Friendly staff and great service. Highly recommend. I got the soup and salad and both were delicious!

Awesome fast service. Reubens were great, burgers were well made and the fried shrimp was very good. Great place to stop and get a bite to eat. It can get very busy but the service was quick and efficient. Large selection of beers.

We were on a local rafting tour and our guide told us about Copper Grill. That is where all the guide crews go on Thursdays (after 4pm) because they run wing specials, bones for $.50/wing and bone-in for $.75/wing. I wasn't expecting much because sometimes restaurants serve the second rate wings when they run specials. Boy was I wrong! The wings were huge and fried to perfection. And the French fries were seasoned really well. Definitely recommend Copper Grill if you are just finishing up on the rapids and have a hearty appetite.

If you want food that doesn’t take long and is affordable, this is your spot. Everyone was nice and food tasted good. The bathrooms had a long line with only two single use bathrooms. Would definitely eat here again if I’m town. It was super busy and crowded but food came out fast and tables turned quickly. Porch area is about usable still if raining.

The food is really good and the service and staff are kind! I got the cheeseburger with Swiss. It was delicious. My girlfriends and I came here to eat and luckily got to see a Christmas parade while eating our lunch.
Nancy Saint-Fort — Google review
You may notice that I rarely give five stars to any place on here. This place is a good restaurant if you want good sandwiches, burgers, soup, chicken nuggets, or fish nuggets. The portions are big and the prices are reasonable. They have the best cole slaw I have ever had!
Leslie W — Google review
Has potential to be an amazing food stop. Bathrooms weren't very clean at all. We got there around 11:15am on a Sunday. Not a lot of seating at all. The most interaction we got from staff was to tell us to stand outside with the door closed while waiting in line so it doesn't get hot inside...😏 understandable since the heat index that day was 100+ but.... Maybe try suggesting the line wrap around the inside of the store so your customers don't fall out waiting on the 1 register that's open? Didn't even get a thank you from the cashier. So it really wouldn't have mattered how good the food was. It's not worth the cranky atmosphere in my opinion.
Heather Satterfield — Google review
Really delicious food at a great value! Little known locals place. Don't pass this little place by. Not the biggest or fanciest place. Don't judge this book by its cover. The burgers are outta this world good. The fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks are also very delicious. I ordered the catfish and oh my how good it was. This will become a favorite little spot.

Superb! Diamond in the rough, we got takeout on our way through and they kill it! The Cuban sandwich had some amazing bread along with flavor , the pastries were on point!! The black beans and rice were cool we and seasoned perfectly. Let’s talk about the coffee….. get in there and get some!!

Nice little Cuban restaurant and it’s mostly busy. Had chicken bowl, veggies meal sandwich and turkey sandwich. Veggie meal sandwich was the best outta all three items. I found turkey sandwich but dry without flavors. The chicken bowl was good. My father loved their rum cake crackers(no sugar and no gluten) and we also had their regular rum cake which was good.
Madhuri Mehta — Google review
Outstanding Cuban Food and great prices! The rice and black beans were great but the Yuca Fries were the best we've ever had! The rum cake is not the be missed. These folks are super friendly so give it a try!

The Rum Cake Lady Cuban Cafe has the most delicious food and coffee! Their sandwiches are amazing, as well as their empanadas, Cuban food bowls, sweet guava and cream cheese pastelitos, and more! Eat your way through the menu!
Lisa Dobbs — Google review
Very delicious and authentic Cuban sandwiches with a variety of beverages to choose from. Very friendly staff accompanied by quick service. This brick and mortar is in a prime location at a T-intersection in town. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, but be aware of the train schedule, as they will get extremely busy on the weekends, and there is limited seating. Your best option for parking is across the street at the IGA grocery store.

I wish this place was in my town! We had the best Cuban sandwiches ever! Everything was fresh, seasoned well, and so good. I had the cheese pastry, and my husband had the mini rum bundt cake. Everything tasted great. We did takeout. They had the order ready in ten minutes. I hope we vacation nearby again soon!

My wife and I stopped by this locally owned authentic Cuban restaurant in McKaysville Georgia. We had empenadas, chicken with yellow rice and black beans/Cuban sandwich. The owner was very attentive and even brought dessert to us on the house. We bought a loaf of Cuban bread hot from the oven. I need to mention that they do catering and she makes a killer rum cake that can be ordered online and shipped to you. RUM CAKE LADY.COM.

Finally made it to try the food here and we were beyond impressed! As a Cuban I can put a seal of “Approved” 😁 The employees are very welcoming and friendly. The coffee was perfect! The pastries amazing! Everything was just what I needed as a reminder of mom’s home cooked meals I missed so much.

Best food I've had in a long time!! This is a must stop!! ❤️ Very cute seating indoors and out. The staff was very helpful and had great food suggestions! We tried the bowls (great seasoned ingredients), tamales (fluffy and not dry), empanadas (flaky, fresh pastry and great tasting meats), rum cake (super fresh and moist), and tiramisu (best I've ever had!). Everything we tried we were very impressed with! Will definitely be back!

Located right between the tennnessee and Georgia state line this little place is a gem of a gold mine. Who would have thought you would get amazing authentic Cuban food in this little town. The service is beyond exceptional and you can tell the people behind the counter care about their customers and their products. We stop here every single time we pass by.

Authentic! Hidden gem. Food is amazing, coffee is perfect! We drove an hour and a half to have lunch, brought back sandwiches for my wife's father (who is from Cuba). Rum cakes are amazing!

Increible cuban food, they have many many selections to buy and eat, different desserts, plattes, drinks and souvenirs too. I'm glad to eat there the last weekend bc the papa rellena and the empanadas was so FANTASTIC, btw it's a few expensive if you buy more things than you can do, be safe and be sure the kind of plates and desserts than u would like to eat, i recommended all the sandwiches and bowls are really good, they have an amazing atmosphere with all the cuban decoration and souvenirs, i did my train tour trip to there and i left really pleasant, i recommend this place for the variety, relative faster to attend and good customer service 👍🇨🇺

Rum Cake Lady was a great place to get a meal after riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. We thought it’d be good with the long line but it was actually delicious. The Run Cake was also way more moist than we thought which was great. The vegan Cuban was fantastic as well!
Justin Nguyen (JNguyen20) — Google review
Being from the Tampa area, I've had a few Cubans over the past 15 years. This restaurant does the Cuban and espresso very well. The guava pastry was top 3 I've ever had and the Yuca fries were perfectly cooked.
P. Muldowney — Google review
We LOVE the rum cake lady! The location in McCaysville is much larger & nicer than the Blue Ridge location. Staff is friendly, but we come for the food!!! The Tampa Cuban sandwich, pork bowl, chicken bowl, picadillo bowl & beef empanadas were our choices this time. Plus we grabbed a loaf of Cuban bread & some pork tamales to bring home. TRY THE GREEN SAUCE. It’s DELICIOUS. We can’t wait to come back & try some more amazing Cuban food.
Patricia Shirley — Google review
This place was so cool to visit! Very clean, organized, and beautifully decorated inside and out. My wife and I stopped by to grab it Togo and got a Cuban sandwich, a guava cheesecake, and lemon bar to share and it was all beyond our expectations! The sandwich could use a touch more garlicky flavor in our opinion but overall one of the best I’ve had in the state of Ga. The bread was amazing and the rest of sandwich was beautifully toasted and well balanced. The deserts both were also, very balanced and not overly sweet. Definitely worth a visit!
Jose — Google review
The service is nice, but ordering at the counter isn't 5 stars. But the empanadas and tamales were very nice, which is more important. I loved the chimichurri, wished there was more. I've eaten at their place in Blue Ridge and now this one in McCaysville. I would recommend it to anyone looking for good Cuban food.
Richard MacCrea — Google review
I stopped by the Rum Cake Lady Cuban Cafe with my wife while staying in McCaysville. The atmosphere is simple and charming, with Cuban memorabilia decorating the walls. But the real highlight is the authentic Cuban food. We ordered two Cuban sandwiches, yucca fries and plantains. The portions were large and we took plenty of leftovers back to the AirBNB cabin with us. The Cuban sandwiches were some of the best I've ever had, rivaling those in Miami. The roast pork was tender and flavorful, and the bread was grilled to perfection. The yucca fries and plantains were also delicious, with the right balance of spices and seasoning. The cafe lives up to its reputation of serving up authentic Cuban food made with love, and we will definitely stop by again the next time we are here.

Super impressed with the overall vibe at this lovely downtown coffee shop in… Copper Hill or Mckaysville… apparently we were on the state line when we ordered so I’ll let you decide which state/ city they’re in 😂 Anyway, so friendly and helpful and great coffees tailored to our various tastes. We’ll definitely be back on our way through town. Their mugs are the best! Buy one!! Highly recommended!

The cinnamon bun was very unique. The first I've ever had made quite like that. Large, yummy, full of cinnamon and sugar-rific! The coffee on the other hand was watery and had almost no taste whatsoever. I didnt drink it. Perhaps it was the time of morning we arrived, perhaps that's just the way coffee is done in those parts. But that cinnamon bun?! I would come back for that alone. ☺️

It might be the best coffee I have ever had!!! The coffee was AMAZING! I had Iced Sassy Snowman Latte I think!

A lovely experience! This coffee shop has a whimsical, retro aesthetic that is enhanced by its proximity to the river. They offer many flavor add-ins for drinks and a special, seasonal menu! The walk in and drive-thru options make it a must-go whether visiting or driving through town!

El Rio's, situated in a historic edifice in downtown Copperhill, offers an extensive array of Genuine Mexican Cuisine prepared to order. With the utilization of high-quality ingredients and exclusive use of vegetable oils for healthier and more flavorful meals, El Rio's delivers an authentic dining experience. The charming eatery boasts ample seating and is adorned with a captivating fountain, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy their delectable fare.
Lucky for us, our first dinner choice was closed. That sent us wandering and we stumbled upon El Rio. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Mexican food in North Georgia felt very sketchy to me, but paint me shocked; it’s was pretty darn good. Our server was hustling. She was worth 5 stars on her own. Food was good, plates were smoking hot, but the food wasn’t too spicy. We enjoyed a taco salad and a veggie burrito, both we quite tasty. We’d definitely return next time we are up. We topped the dinner off with a walk around the block and over the river. Ducks were quacking and live music just around the corner filled the air. It was an awesome evening fueled by El Rio.

Do not trust there prices on the online menu. I just placed an order and it was half again as much as what was on their menu. No complaints about the food. Ask the price if you call in an order their actual prices are much higher than what is on the menu online, and it’s been that way for sometime now
Ron Laf — Google review
The call them self authentic but they don’t have traditional drinks in the Mexican cuisine. I order some tacos i because it was in the lunch special I couldn’t change the beef for chicken. Same for the side, I couldn’t change the fried beans for black beans. Food, service and restaurant was overall ok. I wouldn’t call them authentic or flexible.

Good food for good prices. A local favorite. Owner is pretty cool. Food isn’t too spicy. We love their cheese dip. My favorite’s get there are the Chicken El Rio, the Veggie El Rio, and the Chicken Spinach. The chicken is usually pretty thin so a little tough but has good taste and never underdone.

We shared the steak fajitas. They were alright. The salsa is pretty good, not hot. They have an upstairs section, which is where we were seated. It's a different kind of set up.

Salsa, cheese dip, and guacamole are good. Entrées are subpar. Rice and beans do not taste good. Service needs improvement. No liquor options.

Charming place in Copper Hill, TN. We ordered Pollo Tropical, a grilled chicken dish and Nachos Supreme. The nachos have both shredded chicken and beef, along with beans, lettuce and tomato and topped with a melted cheese sauce. They were both great! I actually went back the next day to get more nachos before leaving town! Nice atmosphere too with plenty of seating. Charmingly decorated with a fountain.

Love this place! Always a great meal and fast service! I had the steak fajitas and my wife had the Polo Loco. Both we're delicious and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good Mexican food!

This place has a huge crowd during the lunch hours of the scenic railway ride. So you might find waiting here cos of that. However they manage to make you sit depending on the number of people. Food is good and fajitas can be improved. There are two sitting levels and ambience is okay. They can focus on restroom cleaning. Rest was good and staff was also nice and welcoming.

Waited several minutes for a seat, although there were few patrons in the restaurant, and no one else waiting to be seated. Waitress took order promptly, but after serving the food she disappeared. Had to ask someone cleaning up to inorder to get a drink refill. Ticket was not brought to table.

DO NOT visit on a Sunday!! If you are looking for confections they have zero! Only a few brownies and cheesecake. We drove over 2 hours to visit this location...what a disappointment! The young lady up front wasn't very customer service friendly! Young girl and older woman kept saying we are out we only make them on Monday then let them run out...maybe make a little more for the folks who travel to visit the location or put note on website to come earlier in the week if you want any confectionery items. Very disappointment with this visit and we will NEVER visit again!

We were visiting Copperhill, TN for my daughter's birthday weekend and we happened to be coming through McCaysville and seen this spot and it had a beautiful location on the river, so we stopped in for the kids to get ice cream. The ice cream was good BUT the girl waiting on us made us feel so rushed and was so ansty when the kids were looking at the cookies and brownies trying to decide which one they wanted. She was too concerned about the people out on the deck from the restaurant then the customers in getting ice cream. Products were good but the customer service was not them best.
Kathy Peacock — Google review
Delicious ice cream. I got a scoop of chocolate raspberry and a scoop of brown butter something that was out of this world tasty. The service was friendly too. Slightly higher price than I expected, but it's not unreasonable, and you get a good sized scoop.

Happy Bear Ice Cream was a life saver today as the sun was blazing around 85F outside and we were in the mood for some ice cream. Surprisingly, Happy Bear had great and unique choices and flavors. I got Coffee mixed with cookies and cream and Brown Butter Bourbon flavors. The prices are good and the place was clean.

We had an amazing breakfast! I had the French toast, which is delicious! And my husband had an old timer, cooked to perfection! We had plenty of food to share and it’s a good deal for the price! We will come back for sure!

I have to say Happy Bear is my go to place to treat myself for dessert, and the flavors of ice cream are amazing. When I first went to check it out, it was jam packed, and I remembered this one server, her name was Sara. She had taken everyone’s order and it was just her, I was impressed. And I was also in love with this one ice cream flavor, I would have to recommend. It’s called the Grand Central Station, and I’ll be visiting as many times as I can over the summer.

My husband and I get ice cream cones at Happy Bear every weekend, and love that they always have new and fun flavors for us to try. If you're more of a baked goods lover, the peanut butter cookies are PERFECTION. I had one today, and it was perfectly soft and chewy. I'm picky about baked goods, but so far everything I've tried here has been great. The staff is awesome, too. I genuinely look forward to seeing their smiling faces each week. Highly recommend checking this place out!
