Lava Lava Beach Club is a resort hotel on the oceanfront with cottages set in lush, white sand beaches. The resort offers casual dining with an open-air restaurant and live entertainment, as well as bungalows on the beach for guests who want to get closer to the waves.
Best meal on the island! Service is superb. Graham was the best waiter - he suggested the sizzling shrimp as an appetizer & it lived up to its reputation. I had the Caesar salad and my husband and I were going to split the fish and chips It was so crunchy & melted in your mouth that we had to order another one. The chipotle tarter sauce topped off the flavor. Excellent atmosphere & friendly staff. A must visit!

Beautiful spot on the beach for a cocktail and sunset. They're currently undergoing a remodel to portions but enough complete to serve patrons! Drinks were pretty weak unfortunately but the med plate was really good and decent portion. Service nice. Remodel well done. Live music started around 5, great atmosphere. Prepare for a line to form starting >15 minutes depending on night if you want table in the sand. Quite popular with all walks of life and ages. Enjoy!

Our favorite restaurant on our 10 day Hawaiian vacation! Food, drinks, setting is perfect!!! You are greeted in a waiting area with a big lush lawn with plenty of games and activities for the kids. So many great photo opportunities on the beach and around the restaurant itself. Some nice Adirondack chairs to relax in while having a cocktail and listening to live music. Food was excellent once we were seated and more live music and dancing near the beach.

I do not understand the negative reviews. We LOVED this restaurant. Our server was awesome. (Noah) The drinks were so good and the same price as every other restaurant in the area. The food was delicious. We had the burger, fries, pineapple chicken, ceasar salad, and the chips with mango salsa. Every entree was delicious. Not one complaint. Our table was on the beach so we sat and watched the sunset which was breathtaking. It was actually a perfect evening. I highly recommend dining here. Arrive early so you can get a table in the sand and order the lava flow cocktail. My husband and I agree. The menu prices are consistent with the other restaurants in the area and the atmosphere is awesome.

I did not have a room so this review is only for the restaurant. Imagine this, Friday night, ocean front, 82 degrees on the Big Island. The atmosphere was like no other and the fun and energy was addicting. While waiting there were games to play, drinks to be had, and people to mingle with. The food looked good and tasted good. They had only 2 gluten free options for me which was fine. This is a must go to restaurant.

Lava lava was recommended to us by the hertz rental car agent. Staying at the Waikoloa Marriott Resort and Spa & this place is 5 min or less to the hotel by car. The food wasn’t the best I’ve had. It was tasty but not the best. The fried rice presentation was great but the flavor was bland. Had to ask for some soy sauce and hot sauce to add some flavor. The location was top notch. Can’t see much at night, but they do have cute lighting around the grounds. Overall, would visit again if I’m in the area.

Visited the restaurant on Jan 29. Food was good. Location was good. Bartenders were enjoyable. The hostess was not pleasant, actually quite the opposite. She did not bother to give us her name, but did share that she had been there all day, working too many hours, tired and ready to go home. This was 6pm. Lighter hair person in a small bob. She needs to be retrained or placed in a different position. Should not be the person that greets guests. When it did came time for her to leave, she did walk around to all the wait people and tell them she’s leaving, and soooo ready to go. Even though our waitperson was at our table at the time. My inclination is that she’s the owners daughter and feels too good to be in service industry. So very rude!

Really good place. Service was top-notch. The food was good. Beers were nice and cold. Nice beach and ocean view. Sun can be a bit bright if you're not shielded by an umbrella. I'd definitely go back here. No happy hour, though.

Was recommended by a fellow tourist as a romantic eatery. My wife and I arrived at about 4:00pm on a Thursday. We were seated immediately, and ordered in about 5 minutes. Friendly and attentive staff. Medium-sized menu of drinks and food items on par with other local, family establishments. Prices comparable, as well, and the food was fresh and tasty. Best part was sitting on the beach with a great view of the ocean. Due to the amount of patrons I'm not sure I'd go with "romantic," but that's a personal opinion (place is obviously popular). Others may find the view is all they need. Wait times after 5:00pm were about an hour, so come early or be prepared for a bit of a kickback and chill.

Lava Lava beach restaurant is a perfect place where you can enjoy delicious seafood, vibrant ambience, live music and gorgeous ocean view and sunset. Make sure to go at non-peak hours to avoid the rush as it’s one of the most sought after restaurant on the big island, understandably. The restaurant was closed from last 4-5 months (not sure why). It recently got reopened and it was running at full capacity. We went for dinner around 5.30 pm and managed to grab great seats overlooking the beautiful ocean and very talented band performing the live music. Around 6.30 pm, people started pouring in. Food was delicious, little on the pricier side. I ordered coconut shrimp and pineapple chicken fried rice bowl. Rice quantity was super tiny, delicious but came in a tiny bowl. Shrimp was deep fried (I am not a fan of deep fried) but surprisingly it tasted good. With this breathtaking view and ambience, the price is justified. There was a large selection of drinks. Parking is huge and designated for the restaurant, it’s free and it takes a minute to walk to the restaurant. I added some gorgeous pictures, enjoy! :)

We had dinner here - party of 8 half kids half adults. It was good. The menu was just very limited and the food was fine. The poke tasted old. The location was amazing though. Your in the beach for sunset and almost guaranteed to see turtles.

Spent the afternoon on the beach next door and then came here for dinner! They don’t take reservations but we played the yard games they had while we waited for our table. The wait wasn’t too long. Loved the coconut shrimp! The waitress easily split the bill for our group too. Perfect spot to watch the sunset!

We went to the beach after we had such a delicious breakfast. You can't find any other "better atmosphere " in my book! While the menu is small for breakfast, there is definitely something for everyone! If you want a relaxing day on the beach and a wonderful breakfast to start the day, THIS is where you need to go! Then go down on the beach and rest a bit, while that beautiful ocean is calling to your soul!!!

The service was exceptional! Everyone from the hostess to the service staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. We ordered quite a few dishes to eat family style (a Caesar salad, the ribs, pineapple chicken fried rice, a burger, and a few other items) and everything was fantastic! The views were amazing and the live band was good. This was my second time visiting the Lava Lava Beach Club and will definitely be back again in the future.

Perfect sunset early dinner for families with kids. It fills up quickly so get there before 5pm to secure a table on the sand with a great view of the sunset. We were there on a Friday night and there was live music and our kids loved it. The food was delicious. Coconut curry with coconut shrimp. Amazing!
Silva Skenderi — Google review
It's a nice little drive to get to the restaurant. The restaurant itself is beautiful and they have seating on the beach. Beautiful views all around. The food was amazing. Hot and fresh. Even had complimentary muffins as well. As an added bonus, you have a chance to see sea turtles from the beach that the restaurant is on.
Chris Edwards — Google review
Worst dining experience of the trip. Food very expensive as were the drinks. The food was lukewarm at best, and the portion size small. My sister ordered the coconut shrimp and got 3. Everyone at the table were served except me and was told they forgot to put in my order the waitress only came back to check on us once. Had to ask 3 servers for utensils. The beach itself was lovely but the restaurant was a huge disappointment.
Lorie Phelan — Google review
Our family loves this restaurant. Got a kid friendly setting and Menu. The kids like to cruise around and play in the sand while we're here. We're actually never surprised if a kid or two end up in the water. The ocean is right there. If you're on a date night, girls' night out or looking for a calm place to kick it. Lava Lava is the place. It can get cold some evenings as it's an outdoor seating so be prepared for that as well.

Fabulous experience. Food was fantastic. Service was exceptional. Beach was beautiful. What more could you ask for. Great gluten free options that tasted great. Only thing that would wave been great is if they had a Gluten free dessert options. My husband got the key lime it was awesome he said and in-law had the coffee carmel cheesecake they said it was fantastic.
Kim Murphy — Google review
The view is amazing. If you time it to come at like 3:30 or earlier you miss the longer waits. They do have a fun social area with a bar for the wait. I have come here twice for my birthday and love the food. The hook, line and sinker is always amazing. I also love the coconut shrimp! The pineapple fried rice and mango tacos are good but I wouldn’t get them again with how much I enjoyed the other two dishes. The cheesecake is a good dessert!
Caitlyn B. — Google review
Overall a amazing experience the two times my family went on our trip. The burgers were all right but the ribs are what I would really recommend with extremely tender meat and a good BBQ sauce on top the portion size is not too small but also not too large. The location is one of the best things about this place with the outdoor seating allowing for sunset views along a delicious meal. The only thing that was annoying would be flies that attacked your food and the seating on the high tables is very uncomfortable after a period of time. Would highly recommend on your vacation to Hawaii.

This review makes me a bit sad, as Lava Lava used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Hawaii. However, as they have expanded in size and popularity, every aspect (except the view) has suffered. While the food used to be elevated Hawaiian eats for fair prices, we now payed fine dining prices for average (at best) food. The steak was cooked correctly to order and fine, but the poke did not taste fresh and the chips were burnt. The place is quite busy leaving the service staff little time to attend to each table. All in all, what used to be an intimate dinner spot right on A bay has become an average and corporate experience with big dollar signs attached. The one positive is when we went back for brunch, it had a much more similar feel to what we remembered from trips past.

Love this place! Right next to the Marriott so you can hang on their beautiful beach. Can also walk the opposite direction from Marriott and discover secluded beaches and sea turtles. Warm banana muffins start off your breakfast with a spectacular view. The pancakes are ginormous!

I went for my B day lunch but its particularly lovely at night with the tiki torches on the beach and often live music. This def gives the tropical vacation vibe. The menu is limited, but the fish and chips was amazing! It's right on the beach and has parking. You have to walk up to where it feels like you are coming in the back ( non beach side) and stop at hostess hut on the right before entering. Mostly outside dining. Touristy and a vacation vibe and the food/service I had was great.

Stopped by for an evening drink and to watch the sunset. We had nice seats in the bar. Our server was great. Even though the place was packed, Erin did not forget about us and made sure our drinks and dinner arrived quickly. The setting and music were great and a nice way to end a day of exploring the island. Thanks to Nicki for greeting us with a friendly and happy smile and starting off our evening pleasantly.

This was our first time visiting Lava Lava Beach Club. The ambiance is spectacular! It is on the beach and all tables have open air access, which is absolutely lovely. Our server was Noah. He was incredibly polite, charismatic, and very attentive. He made thoughtful recommendations for our family. We tried all the fish entries. The presentation of the food was beautiful. The entries we chose were all seafood options and they were so delicious!

So here’s the thing, the restaurant atmosphere was incredible. Party of 2 got seated right on the beach with a 30 minute wait during sunset hours. While waiting, there’s a fun play area with corn hole and table tennis. The location is awesome and there was live music as well. Food was decent. Poke nachos were great. Unfortunately, the pineapple fried rice was not very good. Little flavor, chicken was boring, rice was unexciting. It looks great but tasted subpar. Especially considering the price, we were underwhelmed. Overall 4/5 for great atmosphere and decent food.

Had a great sunset dinner. Service and food were both very good. It is on the more expensive side of Hawaii. Amazing location on the beach with live music and sunset views. Starts filling up around 5:00pm. No reservations. Great energy. Also, a great spot for lunch.

I recently visited Lava Lava for dinner. I was very excited to visit because I had read all the great reviews. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with my experience. We were sat in an area that was outside the main resturant near the entrance. I could see open tables, so the resturant was not full. We ordered a Mai Tai each. Our entrees arrived before our drinks. I had fish, my friend had the ribs. We spit the poke appetizer which was ok. My fish was drowning in a orange/yellow sauce that was very sweet. The fish was not very flavorful. My friend said the ribs were not good either. Our total bill was around 200.00. I don't mind spending money for good food and good atmosphere but we just didn't get that during our visit. Very disappointing experience.

I visited this place in February 2023 and I can say in all sincerity that it was one of the most beautiful nights of my life. When we showed up, we were informed that there was approximately a 45 minute wait. We enjoyed a beautiful walk along the bay while awaiting our notification that a table was ready. We were then escorted to a table on the beach with incredible views. All of the torches and lights added to the ambience. The food was excellent with several vegan options. Service was friendly and diligent. There was live music by a very talented trio performing lots of love songs. As we finished eating, my partner and I took the opportunity to slow dance together near our table. It was absolutely perfect from start to finish.

We came here on a week night for an early dinner. There was no wait and we were seated promptly. However, it took forever to be greeted. When our server came, we were ready to order everything. We had to ask for water several times. After the food came, we didn't see our server again. I struggled to find anyone to take our payment. Our server was nice when present but she was never around and never followed up on us. We would have ordered a second drink and dessert had she been around more. The atmosphere was great and parking easy.

Got there at 11:30am for breakfast but they were only serving lunch. It was delicious and fun. I had my 16 month old and we took multiple walks along the beach while waiting for the food. Server was great and atmosphere is breathtaking

We had a chance to dine here twice during our visit to the Big Island in February 2024. On our first visit, we had great food, drinks and service. To top it all off, they even provided a wonderful sunset! Although, the depth of the menu was rather small, we all found something on the menu we liked. The food was well portioned. Our second meal was just as good as our first, although without the sunset. On a side note, I was very disappointed that the clothing did not come 3XL..

Hawaiian restaurant
Roy Yamaguchi's Hawaiian-fusion restaurant Roys Waikoloa Bar & Grill is a popular destination for diners looking for something special. Offering cuisine inspired by the Pacific Rim, the restaurant offers an upscale experience in a shopping mall setting. Specializing in Szechuan-style baby back ribs, a kiawe-grilled rib-eye, and curry seared ahi tuna, Roys is sure to impress even the most discriminating palate.
LUX + UNINHIBITED + FRIENDLY + PERFECT MEDIUM RARE 🥩 Eating at Roy's was unexpected, which was wonderful because it unexpectedness is what creates an exceptional meal. Definitely the best dinner experience on the island. It's no Tommy Bahamas, and to be honest, Tommy Bahamas couldn't compare. We came in playful, excited, and in a tip top mood. The staff could definitely sense our carefree mood. Not only could they sense it, but they nurtured it. They have QR codes on the table, but I did request a paper menu, which I prefer because I like to look at my choices, and think about them, without the added distraction of managing a cell phone. We did NOT order appetizers, although I'm sure they would have been lovely. We went straight for entrees, and cocktails. Everything we ordered was made with personal care. The staff made sure to bring the same energy we arrived with, which was wonderful. That being said, many of the people who served us went to culinary school. They are not just servers, but passionate about food, customer service, and the island. This is a great spot for couples, business meetings, and best friends. I definitely plan to come again. 😌

Good place altogether. Atmosphere wise I was expecting something a bit more interesting. There's nothing eye-catching or interesting in the decor to make you wonder off or set you in a cultural mood. Service was super friendly. Greeted us right away, made suggestions and were extremely fast and efficient. We had ordered 5 appetizers to share amongst 2 and we were told it's a good amount, but honestly 3 would have been enough. And given they were 5, I was expecting them to come.out slowly one at a time or in pairs. NOPE! all at once!! Maybe if you choose to do that, ask them to bring them out in courses. They seem very accommodating. Food wise, we got their ribs, ahi tuna, poke nachos, spring rolls and crab cakes. I highly recommend you get the poke nachos, carb cakes and ribs for 2 ppl.
Giannis Tsambalieros — Google review
Definitely not the Roy's that it used to be. The place looked so run down. The seats had all sorts of cracks and were peeling and so old and uncomfortable. The food has not changed much in 20 years and it wasn't really all that good. The surf and turf had chewy lobster and super bland corn. The ahi was ok but they now only give you overcooked sticky rice, used to be delicious black rice. The molten cake had no molten middle, it was burnt and overcooked. This place used to be amazing. A fresh set of furniture and a revamp to the menu (or maybe better cooks) and it would be better.
Channing McCabe — Google review
Food at Roy's is excellent especially the fish dishes. I had an almond crusted whitefish which was perfectly cooked and served with a wonderful sauce that complemented the fish. Service was friendly, warm and accommodating. While they don't have vegetarian options on the formal menu, they're able to accommodate beautifully. For example, they can prepare tofu in the style of the fish on the menu (also delicious and presented beautifully). When I come back to Kona, I'll definitely come back to Roy's.
Stephanie Scott — Google review
$53 for a little bit of short ribs and 3 shrimp (see picture). Not a good value at all, quality of food overall was average, the potatoes were the only saving grace. I would not come back here based on the prices and quality of food. There are other options around this area that are better.

On a whim we went to Roy’s. Sat at the bar and had a fabulous time. The food was awesome. Our favorite items were the scallops and the lava cake. I hadn’t been to a Roy’s in years and have many fond memories of it so it was great to go to this location. My partner had never been and he loved the food and said it was the best meal he’s ever had. 🎉
lisa h — Google review
We’ve been going to various Roy’s locations for the last 10 years, but this was our first time here. The food did not disappoint, as always. The ambiance was fine, although not terribly fancy considering the price tag. Overall we had a lovely dinner here with a large group of folks. Appetizers: We ordered the blackened ahi, wild boar wontons, Szechuan ribs, crab cakes, and Brussels sprouts. Of these, the crab cakes, wontons, and Brussels sprouts were the favorites. The crab cake was thick and flavorful; the wontons had a tasty juxtaposition between the savoriness of the boar and sweetness of the chutney, and the Brussels sprouts were crispy and had a nice charred flavor. The ahi was the most disappointing — it was fine, but nothing special. Meals: The group ordered several meals, including the misoyaki butterfish (a favorite!), mekajiki, and the mixed grill. The butterfish was flavorful, tender, and utterly delicious. The mekajiki was also nice, albeit a bit heavier and less flavorful than the butterfish. The best thing about the mixed grill was the potato gratin — otherwise the fish and meat that came with this entree were fine but nothing spectacular. Dessert: The group ordered several chocolate cakes and pineapple cakes. The chocolate cake never disappoints in delivering thick, gooey decadence with zing from the raspberry sauce. The pineapple cake was also delicious, just not my preference. Overall, this restaurant is consistent with the quality of other Roy’s locations and would be a solid place to have a nicer meal!
Deborah S — Google review
The food was excellent, and the service was point. The space is drab, I agree with another reviewer that it feels like a cafeteria. They bank on the large windows to provide ambiance. No one cleaned the place before they opened. We had reservations right at open. The front door was smudged up with greasey hand prints. The window next to our table also had a large smudge on it. Both of the menus we were given had crumbs in the pages. The restroom had a few dirty spots (nothing gross or filthy) - it looked like a farmer washed his hands and touched stuff. We had a great meal and were treated very well. I would go again.

Lovely service and tasty dishes! The view from our table was waterfront. Super nice! We celebrated birthdays and they made us feel very special.

Our family of four enjoyed a sunset meal at this wonderful restaurant. We made reservations on a Wednesday evening. The atmosphere was intentional with a nice mix of energy and sophistication. Our server, Braxton, provided thoughtful service being attentive to the gluten sensitivity. We chose the Mixed Grill, Blackened Ahi, Miso Butterfish and Opakapaka. The food was well prepared, plates visually appealing and portions were satisfying. The signature dishes held up to their fame. Pricing set the stage for a celebratory dinner. Certainly, would return when in the area again.

This was overall a good mean. The food was tasty and we had a great view looking out over the water. The Edamame was a nice starter. Tasty! We had the Farmer salad which was terrible. Just some lettuce with a drizzle of dressing. Skip this one for sure. The mixed grill was good. Flavorful and filling. The butterfish was the highlight of the night for sure. SO GOOD! This is a must if you eat here. You won’t be disappointed. We had the pineapple upside down cake for dessert. It was just ok. This is an expensive restaurant, and there’s better around for the price, but we had a nice meal overall.

This is heartbreaking because I have eaten at Roy’s for years. We were seated with a pole directly in front of us. I asked the hostess if we could please move as the restaurant was pretty empty and she was rude and short and refused. The majority of the restaurant remained empty as we stared at a pole. My husbands steak was complete fat and my butter fish was not anything like I’ve ever had there. It tasted fishy and was just not good. Very disappointing in the hostesses attitude and the food in general. Missing how this place used to be.

We had really attentive service at Roy’s and really amazingly prepared and tasting food. I would recommend the pork chop and the “Mix Girl” which is Charbroiled Beef Short Ribs and Firecracker Shrimp.

Delicious, reliable Roy’s. Excellent service and food. The facility looks dated but otherwise it is a top notch meal. I had the butter fish and it was perfect.
Adam Ruggles — Google review
Beautiful atmosphere, good food, fair portions, but terribly slow service. Really enjoyed the food itself, even with the prices a little inflated (seems to be the theme in this entire area though) the server seemed nice but practically disappeared towards the end. The meatloaf was something you don't see every day, and good. Side dishes were either not seasoned or overly salty, but nothing that was worth sending back for. Four stars for the food, two stars for the service.
Daniel Hooven — Google review
My wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon when we ate at Roy's. Our server's name was Lurch, and he was absolutely amazing. He kindly answered all of our questions about the local food and drinks since we are unfamiliar with the local cuisine. We got the Poke nachos as an appetizer and they were delicious. I ended up getting the macadamia nut crusted fish and my wife got the scallops. Both were absolutely fantastic. The presentation and taste of both plates was undescribably delicious. Then our server, Lurch, brought out a surprise desert to help us celebrate. The desert was a molten lava cake with fresh vanilla ice-cream. We cannot even begin to describe how amazing the desert was. All in all our experience at Roy's was one of a kind and we will look back on it for years to come and remember how great it was.

Kamuela Provision Company is an upscale surf 'n' turf restaurant located at Hilton Waikoloa Village, offering a romantic patio with stunning views of the coastline. The restaurant focuses on Pacific Rim flavors and locally sourced ingredients, offering a three-course set menu and optional wine pairings. Diners can enjoy refined yet unpretentious Pacific Rim-influenced cuisine while taking in sweeping ocean views and dramatic island sunsets.
We had a great evening here! Book early as the sunset times are in high demand. The tasting menu was great as we were seated outdoors, come hungry otherwise feel free to ask for to go boxes. Drinks were super tasty, and the food was great.

Absolutely stunning place to have dinner. We did the three course meal on the waterfront and it did not disappoint. Our meal was at sunset, a perfect way to end our stay in Hawaii. The food I had was good, not as good as some other three course meals I've had, especially in Vegas but it was the best meal we've had on the island and the view was more than enough. I ordered a Lava flow in addition to my meal which was super good. The onion rings were very greasy but honestly that's my fault all onion rings are greasy I was just crazy hungry when I ordered and went a little overboard. They give you bread at the table so learn from me and just munch the bread, the meal itself is more than enough.

OMG! This place was so delicious. What made it even better was Georgia. She was the employee refilling our waters and resetting the tables but she was much more than that! She made us feel so welcomed! She has the best personality and is very friendly! The ladies that were next to us even got up and made a point to say goodbye! She really cares about the guests and making sure you have the best experience! Until next time Georgia! The food was amazing. The pre-fixed menu is so worth it with all the wine tasting you get with the food. So worth it! If you want to get a good view show up early and wait in the bar area for the perfect table! Enjoy!

Kamuela Provision Company is one of the most scenic dining experiences to be found on the island. In the evenings you can watch the sun set on the horizon, followed by gorgeous skies. With our reservation, seating was immediate and the service was pleasant and friendly. The servers were happy to help us with our menu questions and guide us with our choices. We received our drinks quickly. The servers were very attentive. Our dinner was served in a short amount of time. The dinner had the perfect amount of portions and everything was cooked to perfection. The lobster with the asparagus and mashed potatoes was delicious. I highly recommend Kamuela for that special night out on the Big Island.

We made a reservation yesterday for this evening at 6:00pm which was right as the sun was setting. Beautiful location right on the water. We did the 3course set meal and ate on the patio listening to the waves and taking in the magnificent views. I had the Short Ribs- Fantastic! The Brussel sprouts tasted great and were sweet it was caramelized- however they were made us Pecans (and I’m allergic- we put it is special instructions). Other than that the atmosphere was amazing, peaceful, organized, and the views are spectacular.

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Kamuela Provision Company recently. Our waiter Ariel was awesome and very attentive, the food was great and how can you beat sitting Oceanside ant sunset? My only negative was hearing the luau that was taking near us, sloths took away from the atmosphere.

This is the place for a special occasion. We celebrated our anniversary and couldn’t have been happier with the delicious food choices. Our server Alfredo went out of his way to take our photo and did not rush us out. We got to absorb every bit of the sunset and food. They offer a three course meals with great options for $120 per person. The food and ambiance was worth the price. Live music and excellent service was appreciated. PS - make a reservation

Amazing meal! We were here on Saturday night in March 2024 and we had a great time. Our waiter was Alfredo and made the experience special. They have a full bar and a good selection of wine by the glass. They also offer 5 and 8 ounce pours so you can get a glass & a half! The outdoor area is setup with 2 person tables across the front for romantic dining while watching the sunset. When we were seated Alfredo informed us of the estimated time of sunset so we could watch the event. We look forward to eating here again. Just be aware that this is not a cheap meal but well worth the price in my opinion.

Excellent service by Jesse and our waiter, Jordan. We had the Wahoo, steamed, great food, no complaints. A litte pricey, but 5 stars for service and quality.

If you want Great food go to Tropics Ale House right down the road... Unfortunately the service for us was not very good. The view is beautiful and the food we ordered was good, but for a location that considers it's dining upscale and charges $60 a plate it did not meet the mark. Dirty plates sat in front of us for quite a while, no one clearing the table, filling water or offering a dessert menu until asked. I talked to the manger because I thought maybe there was a staff shortage but he said they were over staffed. Thankfully, Jesse showed up to offer water after our meal and I asked for a dessert menu & to clear our plates. We then sat there for some time before our waitor even took our dessert order. We frequent upscale restaurants and our experience was not anything close to "upscale". Better off getting food to go somewhere, saving a few hundred bucks and eating at a lookout area around the property. I appreciate the kindness of the manager and the fact he planned to address the matter. I personally do not recommend this restaurant based on service.

Outstanding location overlooking the Pacific Ocean for sunset. Meal was delicious. Service was as expected (good). Prices are not for the faint of heart but not outrageous either. Have been 3x over the past decade now and the experience has been consistent each time. Am looking forward to my next visit!

Best place we went to during our vacation. Our service was amazing, our food was superb, and we had a beautiful night ocean view. This restaurant is in a perfect location right by the beach. Food is a bit expensive but well worth the price.

Had a very impromptu day at the Hilton as we needed to kill some time before our evening flight. That lead to an even more impromptu dinner at KPC and wow - what a great call that was. We were warmly greeted and situated right along the waterfront just in time for sunset. Our server Owen was stellar with his recommendations and overall service. The food was excellent. Overall, a very amazing way to spend our final hours of our vacation.

Drinks were amazing, broiled oysters were really good. The Hawaii lilikoi vegan curry was a bit too strong flavored in terms of sourness for me and there was no carb pairing with it which made it hard for me to complete the curry. Wedge salad was decent. We felt for the food this place is inappropriately priced.

Good was OK to good but very overpriced. Vegetarian curry needed better assortment of vegetables. Bread was good and more reasonable. Desserts were sparse for the price. Salad and scallops were very well prepared. No ambience.

Despite being initially sat right next to the kitchen, after some polite coercing we were all set. Great atmosphere, and phenomenal food. It’s pretty high priced but the food and service was good.

Really liked this place. Ate there 3 or 4 times. We had all inclusive package and reall y enjoyed this restraunt. Dinnes is 2 hours and around sunset it is nicely packed. Not to loud not to quite. Drink list is great. After dinner drink menu is great. Staff is wonderfull. I had steak each night and coojed wonderfully. My wife had a different fish each time and loved them all. We never get desert but we dud there. Worth going to even if your not staying at property. Book about 20 mins before sunset. The chef came over after dinner and chatted as well.

Disappointed and offended. As Hilton guests, we entered the restaurant from the ocean side path. After reaching the host stand, I was scolded because “that is not an entrance”. I then proceeded to witness the host treat every other guest very differently than she did me using a very friendly and high pitched tone. This woman needs additional training in customer service and an attitude adjustment. We were seated at a waterfront table and the view was spectacular. Our service, unfortunately, left a lot to be desired. Linda was overwhelmingly talkative. After denying her offer three times to take our photo, her demeanor changed and she mostly disappeared. After waiting 25m for our server to return, we informed another server that we were ready to order dessert and he returned to take our order because Linda “was busy”. The tables we were surrounded by all received exceptional service but unfortunately we did not. Thanks to Mayk for his friendly and prompt dessert and coffee service. We will definitely not be returning after being treated so poorly.

We had a fantastic evening watching the sunset while enjoying a fabulous meal with impeccable service. We were seated by Head Chef Robert and served by Jolie and Owen. My wife and I really enjoyed every aspect of the dining experience! We started off with the smoked shrimp appetizer which, while in modest size, was very delicious. My wife had the scallops which were perfectly prepared and some of the largest scallops we’ve had. I had the dinner special which was Hamachi over garlic rice with Swiss chard and pea shoots. And finish the evening, a decadent gluten-free chocolate and macadamia nut dessert.

Pueo's Osteria is a charming Italian restaurant located in Waikoloa Village, offering a cozy atmosphere and traditional-style dishes. The menu features a delightful mix of locally sourced and imported ingredients, ensuring an authentic Italian dining experience. Guests can indulge in delectable cocktails that perfectly complement the flavorful plates. Notable menu items include the mouthwatering short rib pizza and the exquisite squid ink linguine.
Recommended by a local person. The menu had many choices and the specials of the day fantastic and creative. I had a starter of thin pounded ahi with spices, olives and a delicious semi-spicy sauce. My main meal was perfectly cooked and tender swordfish. I never order swordfish because it is always tough. But this was fall-apart tender and delicious. We will come back again with our friends!

This food was incredible! We had the short rib pizza and caprese salad and they were both amazing. Probably the best pizza my husband and I have ever had. We didn’t have a reservation and we were seated indoors, but it was SO cool being able to see inside the kitchen. I also highly recommend the espresso martini. Our waitress was very fast, attentive and friendly.

Mushroom pizza was the best! My husband enjoyed his seafood pasta dish. Tiramisu was excellent. They were good about creating vegan options for the vegan. Cozy Italian-style atmosphere.

My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant whenever we are in the Big Island because the food is outstanding. However this time we had the most amazing experience ever. We were fortunate to be seated at the chef's table. That allowed us to speak with owner and Chef James as he went about making various dishes and other items. He couldn't have been more warm and engaging. I admit to being a foodie and the opportunity to ask Chef James questions about the dishes and him and staff was just remarkable. But above all the food is outstanding. I'm a bit of an Italian food snob having made Italian food for over 40 years and having gone to Italy several times, I can tell you his food is extremely authentic, fresh tasting, and really delicious. We had an appetizer of beef carpacio, the best grilled octopus..so tender, the special of the day a fish with 2 types of pesto and a squid ink pasta arrabbiatta with shrimp, followed by lemon panna cotta and limoncello. It was a lot of food but we were celebrating a birthday. Our server was so attentive and contributed to our extraordinary dining. Likewise the hostess who made it all possible was so warm. We even got to meet the line chef's and staff who make the magic happen in the kitchen. All so very nice. Truly an amazing experience. We will be back!

I'm a little conflicted about this review. The good. Good and inviting decor. Rapid service. Pasta cooked perfectly. Dishes were very good with fresh local ingredients. The no so good. The menu specifically asks guests not to stay more than 90 minutes. Definitely a demerit. Then the server asked us if we were ready to order at least 4 times. So we felt rushed. The dishes were explained rapidly with no real depth. There only beer on the menu is Kona Brewing which is not a local beer, they were split up between AB Inbev and an investment group. There are outstanding local brews including Hawaiian Ola, but the manager said that the Budweiser brand was cheaper. Hmm. Since this is supposed to be a fine dining experience, I really don't think I should be on the clock.

Food was delicious, my friend had the Black bean linguine with local shrimp. I had gluten free pizza, both were amazing. We had flourless chocolate cake for dessert with sorbet. Yummy Our waitress was Courtney who was very helpful and knowledgeable.

This place is really amazing! I was recommended to come here by a friend because I don't usually go to Waikoloa. I got to-go because they're very busy and I wanted to leave to go back to Hilo. I didn't know what to expect. This place was beyond my expectations entirely. Definitely a fine dining restaurant. It was the best pasta dish and canoli I've ever tasted! I don't know what they use in the food but man it's some really good ingredients. The price definitely reflects the quality. Seems like a good place to go every once in a while or if you got money to blow. The staff was very friendly and helpful, because the menu was confusing to me. They helped me pick one of the best dishes on the menu. I really want to try everything now! Thank you for being so awesome!

We booked dinner at Pueo’s Osteria for our 20th anniversary. Our server Toni was top notch, and the food from start to finish was Ah-MAZING! Octopus sooo tender; lemony dressing on kale salad should be bottled & sold; lasagna had depth but their house-made noodles made it a surprisingly light dish, veal parmesan was crisp & delicious, and the cannoli… I try cannoli at EVERY Italian restaurant I visit & yet it falls short everytime- until THIS time. The addition of candied orange adds a layer of flavor that makes their version of cannoli a hands down WINNER! There were many other menu items I wanted to try, so we’ll definitely be coming back SOON! *The Cherry on Top: the staff gave us a card they all signed wishing us Happy Anniversary.

All around good. The food was well prepared. They use a nice thick balsamico. My wife thoroughly enjoyed here Caccio e pepe. The lasagna is a classical recipe, but the flavor was flat and I felt very heavy after eating only half. Inside and bar seating are available but most seating is outdoors. If you're an early diner like we are bring your shades. The canoli was very good.

We love, love, love Pueo's. It's the best Italian food this side of Italy itself. From the housemade pastas to the hand-tossed, oven-fired pizzas to the tasty meat courses (the veal and chicken are to die for!), this is an essential stop on any restaurant tour of the area north of Kona, equal to any of the famed eateries in nearby Waimea. We make it a point to stop here every time we're on the Big Island -- you should, too. Reservations recommended. Only quibble: The noise. In our most recent stop in the new digs across the highway, the noise level in the scenic and otherwise wonderful patio was deafening -- literally. I unplugged my hearing aids, and while my partner went out to the car to retrieve earplugs, I measured the volume level in the patio. It averaged in the mid-80 decibel range, occasionally topping out at 90 decibels. Folks: That's equivalent to operating a leaf blower or attending a rock concert. The patio is not a place for a romantic or quiet dinner. I've been to Italy, often. I have Italian friends. I guarantee you: There is nowhere in Italy as noisy as this. It just doesn't happen. It's a shame.

Best Italian restaurant on the island. I took my girlfriend for a date. Beautiful ambience, service is top notch.(Makana was awesome) We ordered Shortrib pizza, it was amazing. Special was good too. Hazelnut torte was out of the world. It stole the show. Highly recommend trying this place out.

Great restaurant. The restaurant is located in a shopping center, parking was easy and there was plenty of it. My husband and I went around 7pm. We had made a reservation which I recommend as it was pretty busy when we got there. We got the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer, so good. For dinner I got the veal Parmesan which tasted amazing. Everything came out in a timely manner. Staff was friendly.

Had 3 GOATS (greatest of all time) in one meal here: Octopus, Brussels Sprouts, and house Limoncello. Do not miss this experience. Jason and the staff are amazing as well, and will do anything they can to make your experience as memorable as ours was.

For $26 I expect edible pizza. What I got was a soggy oily mess that I couldnt really eat. Pizza is one of my favorite foods and I will usually devour it no matter what, but this I was only able to eat a few bites off of 2 pieces. When the pizza arrived at my table made a comment to me like I was a kid or something which was off putting. When I separated the pieces, a large pool of oil ammassed at the center of the plate. The way they serve the pizza on top of a paper sheet it totally absorbes the oil and gels to the bottom of the pizza. When I tried to slice off edible bits of pizza the paper shreds and comes apart. All 3 pizzas at our table were like this except mine was probably the worst. The center of the pizza was totally flabby when trying to pick up and everything fell off. Its like the inner part of the pizza wasnt fully cooked. The outside crust was ok but also had black overcooked spots. After they picked up our plates they did comp my pizza which was nice. But left unsatisfied. Also when we walked in they told us the table they were going to seat us in they needed in 1 hour. When we were done with pizza there was no time to even consider desert and so we left and went somewhere else for desert. Dont get the pizza. Update: we went here on the last night of our trip to give it another shot... I had high hopes for the lasagna but sadly was disappointed again. The outer half of the food was hot. The center was cold! This place suffers from serious execution problems with getting food cooked properly. The next day my wife and I both had stomach issues. 4 visits to the bathroom before 10am! 💩👎👎👎👎 service was better this visit. Sitting outside was nice but its very loud. Next time I am on the Big Island I wont be going back. 2 strikes

What a fine dining experience at a very fine restaurant. Our server, Jessica was friendly, helpful, and informative. The teamwork of all staff is great. They all work together on taking care of all patrons. The manager, JT was so cool: poured our 2nd bottle of wine and was very appreciative of us being there. Great interaction. All of our entrees were excellent, and I daresay no matter what you might order, it will be fantastic. Highly recommend!

December 2023: still love the food, but I really wish that the restaurant would add some sound reduction to the new location. The last few times I've been there (once sitting at the table by the kitchen, once outside) it has been so loud that I left with a splitting headache. Great food, great service, but I find myself less and less anxious to return. 2021: Absolutely fantastic food and great service. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner here and will definitely be back. The short rib pizza was surprisingly good, and the boar with handmade pasta was also amazing. Canoli... Veal Milanese... All so good. Well worth it

Lovely Italian restaurant on a hillside that our Airbnb renter recommended to us. If you find yourself in Waikoloa Village, this is a great place to swing by for dinner. We walked in without reservation right at open (6pm) and got a table right away but it got packed shortly after so plan to either make a reservation, get there early, or be ok with a slight wait. The short rib pizza was absolutely phenomenal. The caccio e pepe was pretty simple and a bit too much of one flavour but if it's your favorite pasta you'll be sure to appreciate it as it's made fresh in house. Even caught a lovely glimpse of the sunset while finishing our meal. Our waiter was lovely, very attentive and did a good job explaining the menu. Definitely would go back!

The award-winning Brown's Beach House offers farm-to-table meals in a romantic setting. With fresh seafood, elegant beachfront surroundings, and nightly entertainment from Nino, the restaurant is a luxurious open air beach destination serving sophisticated Hawaiian cuisine.
The restaurant is situated in a very beautiful spot to view the beach and sunset. Reservations are recommended. Food is excellent, I especially loved the bread! Great staff, food come out in a timely manner. Live music is also great, not too loud so you can still carry a conversation. It can be slightly dark depending on where you're sitting. Bring a scarf in case the ocean breeze gets a little windy.

I wanted to take my husband somewhere nice for his birthday. Looking at the reviews and prices for the dishes, I was excited to bring him here. It had been awhile since we were somewhere truly nice. We unfortunately didn’t make time to see the sunset but we were still able to hear the water in the background. Our waiter and other staff members were on top of everything. Our drinks never got below halfway full. Our meals were absolutely delicious. Compliments to the chef and the entire restaurant. Thank you for a wonderful birthday dinner, Brown’s Beach House!

Disappointing is the main way to describe the meal, especially with the price tag. The food was nothing special, but not terrible. The highlight of the night were the purple sweet potato rolls, but that should be telling giving the $125+ bill. The filet was cooked perfect, but was at the most 4 ounces and the accompaniments were bland and broccolini clearly undercooked. Also all the breaded items seemed stale, but that could've just been the tempura style. The service was slow, but friendly. It was clear the server has two sections, with one being inside and one being outside, she was nice, but the wait for drinks, refills and food was longer than normal, but if she had two stations that's not on her. Overall, just a disappointment - beautiful atmosphere, friendly albeit slow service and overpriced food. Plenty of other options locally that give you a true fine dining experience or a local flavor at an affordable price. The hotel itself was great.

You can’t beat the stunning sunset views and resort atmosphere. Live music during dinner with an idyllic view of the ocean. Service was great but the food was not spectacular. The filet was underwhelming with an unusually large portion of broccolini and mashed potatoes which seemed unrefined for such an upscale restaurant. Our dessert, so sort of candy bar, was tasty but comically very hard to cut. A truly spectacular location and you can’t beat the relaxing beachside atmosphere.

My personal favorite restaurant on the big island. The patio for dining is unparalleled and makes you feel as if you are eating on the beach. The sunsets we have enjoyed form this restaurant have been some of my favorites and the meals are consistently delicious and some of the highlights of the trip. There are often turtles on the beach at this resort which is always fun to see and Brown’s seems to always have live music which adds amazing ambiance to your dinner. I’m getting hungry just thinking about Browns beach house. Enjoy!

This place is fantastic! Best dinner ever and I am a foodie. Each dish is an explosion of flavor. Each bite is a chance to combine ingredients in a different way and have an experience of rich taste. The chef definitely planned the flavors to create a nuanced delight for diners. Even if you don't approach food this way, you will not be disappointed. We ordered the Ahi, Venison and Duck entrees along with pork belly appetizer. Meats cooked to perfection, service and views are unsurpassed. It is worth every penny. They accommodate dietary restrictions and have gf options. JUST GO!!! I will return without a doubt.

Perfect spot for the most stunning sunsets. Very delicious food, good wine list and very helpful & friendly service. I loved the local fish main dish and the mud pie as a desert. The ahi starter wasn’t amazing (that‘s why 4 stars not 5). They also offer S‘Mores kits for children for the fire pits. Live music was very pleasant, not too loud. We really enjoyed our evening at Brown‘s.

My husband and I came here to celebrate a belated anniversary. As other reviews mentioned, we got the first seating at 5:30, which meant we had a prime spot. It was a bit overcast when we went, but on a sunny day, the sunset view would be priceless. Even so, the palm trees, impeccable staff, and Hawaiian sky made for a lovely dinner. At the recommendation of our server, we had the shrimp appetizer. It came with three shrimp in a butter and onion sauce and was the perfect serving size for a sharing plate, especially since we both ordered a main dish and planned to share dessert. We had the Opa (the fish special) and surf and turf, and I highly recommend the latter! We debated between the crème brûlée for dessert but got the OK mud pie. As others mentioned, save some room for the sweet potato dinner roll with honey butter, they are incredible with bits of sweet potato in the middle.

Fantastic food at a Big Island classic. The menu has changed in the last few years with paired down choices but amazingly, the same choices are often quite different from time to time if you're a regular, which is nice. I love the focus on farm-to-table, fresh, quality ingredients. You can't beat the setting with seaside eats and live music. My biggest suggestion is more of a convenience. It's very frustrating to not have years on the wine list. The list itself is already fairly overpriced which makes it difficult to make a selection to begin with. On top of that, you have to ask the staff about every single wine year rather than having the details right there in front of you. It's such an easy fix and really an unnecessary process.

If I could give 6 stars I would. We specifically booked an early seating to watch the sunset and we were blown away! Iokua was our server and he was amazing. He's very attentive and entertaining! We lucked out getting a great sunset and a great server! I ordered the fillet mignon. The food was delicious, they even prepared a special meal for my partner who couldn't order anything off the menu! Very special evening!!!

Food was delicious and the ambiance was equally phenomenal. I had a 5:30 reservation and got yo sit right on the “front row” to watch the sunset. Server was awesome with good recommendations. I got the strawberry and goat cheese arugula salad, which was fresh and tasty. I got the special that night and I can’t remember the name of the fish! But it was light, flaky and so fresh. Would recommend splurging here for dinner!

Recommended by a friend and did not disappoint. Terrific service, food, and atmosphere. Did a 5:30 reservation which was perfect for enjoying the sunset right around main course. Obviously little more costly dining option but I think worth it.

Atmosphere, top notch, as the sunset and seaside were perfect. Service was attentive and exquisite as the staff payed particular attention to “celebrating anything special tonight?”. The venison dish ( I suggest medium rare ad venison is so easily overcooked) is certainly the absolute must for anyone coming to Brown’s Beach House . That all being said I have but one criticism: the tempura ahi tuna. The tempura distracted from the ahi tuna hiding inside. A clash of flavors ad opposed to a marriage.

This is our third trip to the island and we always make sure we eat here. The service from everyone involved was outstanding. Tremaine (so) our server, was absolutely exceptional. The atmosphere and music very romantic. Pear salad was tasty and refreshing. Fish, very fresh and cooked perfectly. We are never disappointed at Browns Beach.
