Lancaster County Dutch Market

Mentioned on
Market
Shopping
Lancaster County Dutch Market is a bustling marketplace offering a wide variety of fresh prepared foods, groceries, produce, fine chocolates, and home furnishings. The market also features fresh-made donuts and pizza. While Saturdays can get busy, the lines move smoothly. Visitors love the mouth-watering hot pretzels and appreciate having access to the Amish community through the market's offerings.
Hands down the best fried chicken around the area. Their BBQ wings and potato wedges are also phenomenal. Make sure to get amish macaroni salad and deviled eggs too. Lines can be really long during the weekend lunch time, but it tends to move pretty quick. Super friendly staffs.

The market is amazing! There's a very different type of variety to find inside. Baked goods, meats, flowers, furniture and even a little Cafe. I personally was disappointed in the Cafe. They call it Dutch in the name, but it's just regular Cafe type food. It was, hower, good food. We never got refills on our drinks, and the waitress didn't return to our table. They decided to give all waitresses their breaks except 1. So she had to run the counter, the window, and tables. 🙄 Also,it's worth noting that if you're not a local person, this restaurant is literally inside the market, but GPS doesn't tell you that. So we drove around the entire shopping plaza looking until I called them directly. 😐

I am utterly disappointed with the constant price hike on the once-affordable, good quality food at Lancaster County Dutch Market. It is disheartening to witness a blatant disregard for the loyal customers who have supported this establishment for years. Unfortunately, the inflated prices have completely soured my experience, and I feel compelled to share my negative review. First and foremost, what drew me to Dutch Market initially was their commitment to providing high-quality food at reasonable prices. Their fresh produce, dairy products, and meats were once an absolute delight. I believed I had found a reliable source for nutritious, affordable groceries. However, the past 5 years continues price increase has shattered this illusion, leaving me disillusioned and frustrated. For example, cooked chicken wings price went from $5.99 per pound in 2018 to $12.99 in 2023.

I love this place and folks who work it! It’s always an adventure because I never know what I want before I arrive yet always bring home something good in food or home decor. There’s a nice variety of fresh prepared foods, groceries, produce, fine chocolates, fresh made donuts, pizza, and a section for home furnishings and decor. Saturdays are insanely busy so avoid if crowds bother you. Lunchtime gets busy too but manages to keep lines moving pretty smoothly. This location has a smaller representation of goods than the Laurel location if I recall correctly but it’s also less hectic.

The pretzels are the best but the pies and fried chicken are so good too. Pies of all kinds, I love the potato spinach ones as well as the apple and berry pies. Also have cheesecakes, donuts, cinnamon buns, and everything else sweet and sticky.

Best food ever. The hot pretzels are mouth watering amazing. Love having access to the Amish community. If I ever get back to this place I'll be back.

Here you can get fresh vegetables and meat. The restaurant's sandwiches are large and tasty. Most of all, we love pretzels.

Everything is always fresh and tasty. The homemade salads place has great pickles too. Many people love the fried chicken spot and the pretzel spot. I've visited almost every place (except maybe three) and I've been satisfied with the customer service and products each time!

A little bit of everything! Amazing friendly staff! Some of the freshest baked goods and meats I've ever seen!

I must admit that I have to give props to the Dutch Farmer Market for offering a wide variety of freshly made goods at reasonable prices. Plus, the quality of them are almost unbeatable no matter what you plan on buying. I can’t think of anywhere else in the Germantown area where you can get freshly made bacon, pickled beets, bread, and so much more! Come to think of it, other than a few confused kids, I don’t think that I recall seeing any grownups truly act unhappy at the market. Though fair warning, it can get crowded there during lunchtime especially. Still, the visit is quite worth it, no matter what your needs are. Also, shoutout to Mary Belle for making beautiful ikebana inspired flower arrangements! My mother really liked hers and ours lasted for almost two weeks courtesy of the fact that we used a bed of rocks and water to make it last. :D

If you’re a person who loves food this would be a treat for family and friends or just have a private experience 🤣 Everything is fresh and the service is fabulous. They have a dining room as well as walk around shopping. Great experience always. Fabulous!

FABTASTIC SPOT 👍 👍 Good lord, where do I begin?! EVERYTHING is delicious! Best doughnuts, bread and pies in town 💯 Fresh baked. Daily. The fried chicken is so good, we call it "Crack chicken" lol. The chicken wings are 🔥 (they have breaded or non). They have an amazing butcher, with fresh cuts of beef, pork, chicken, etc. They even have a small Cafe inside that I'd quaint and cozy to eat at. Couldn't recommend this place enough! 👏 👏 👏

I'm telling you, the fried chicken and potato, strawberry delight, strawberry glazed donut are so so good and delicious! This place must be visited!

Butler's Orchard is a family-oriented farm that offers various activities, including pick-your-own patches, hayrides, and a kids' play area. They also have a market and cafe where you can purchase their delicious produce and products. One of the main attractions is the pumpkin festival where you can enjoy hot cider and yummy donuts. The corn maze and other stations are enjoyable for both kids and adults alike.
Amazing and kid-friendly orchard! I come here in the Summer, Fall & Winter. They have festivals filled with great things to eat, amazing produce and pick-your-own fruits! You can also get Christmas Trees and the animals are so cute! The admission isn’t that expensive and this is a must-do if you have young children. Also has an amazing market where you can get pies, fruit and even sauces that are locally made! This is the best orchard in the DC-Baltimore Area!

I came to Butlers Orchard with my grandchildren to visit the bunnyland ranch for Easter. They had a great time. I always visit the country store to get local honey during allergy season.

What an awesome and wonderful place! So well maintained and managed by the staff and their produce and products are great and delicious. Go for the pumpkin festival and stay for the yummy hot cider and donuts!!! Mmmm those donuts are so tasty. They had plenty of activities for kids and adults. It started raining but it was worth it. The corn maze was super fun and the rest of the stations were fun too. I got our tickets online and it was quick and convenient. Updating the time on our tickets was also simple.

Fall fun for the entire family! This orchard has several playgrounds and activities for children (ex: bouncing pad, face painting, mini-digging site.) And there are other activities for teens and adults, such as corn mazes, hayrides, and extra long sliding tubes. You can also get a taste of the farm by getting some pumpkins, caramel apples, hot cider, and fast food. And, the Orchard is also available for large group events; you can reserve a private tent and get a separate area and portable potty :)

Great fresh fruits for picking! Also has a fantastic market with fresh veggies and all sorts of other delicious sauces and foods. Great place for kids and adults alike.

What a country gem right next door to our growing city! We have visited Butler’s orchard several times to pick strawberries or apples and for some of their kid friendly outdoor fairs. We’ve also visited their country store to buy local produce, crafts and baked goods. In the fall, it’s a great place for pumpkins. If you go strawberry picking, you can bring your own containers to save a few dollars. They will weigh the containers and deduct that weight from the produce cost. Pick a lot and freeze the rest! You’ll be making strawberry pancakes and smoothies all year long.
Anup Kulkarni — Google review
Great place for different types of activities throughout the seasons. I’ve visited during the summer for berry picking which was great. We also had the opportunity to pick flowers. In the fall, I’ve attended the fall festival during the weekends and enjoyed barbecue, kettle corn, walking through the corn maze, picking my own pumpkins and buying apple cider donuts. Great place for kids, for a date, and for a time with friends. I recommend buying the tickets for the fall festival online before the event.

Fun experience for the entire family. I went there with my 3 yr old and 10 month old. We enjoyed the hay ride, slides, jump pad, food and the environment. The staff were friendly and parking wasn't bad on the day we went. The Apple Cider and Apple Cuder donuts are definitely worth the drive.
Sylvetta — Google review
One of Maryland secrets in my eyes. This place was great and a wonderful place for kids. I enjoyed the Kettle corn. That is a big hit. I believe I ended up with 4 bags then at closing. I went down to the store to express and purchase a few more snacks. The place is well set up. The festival area was safe and organized in my eyes. I arrived around 2pm. That is not enough time to get to everything at the festival. I didn't even make it.to the pumpkin and apple area so yeah...get there early or plan for a two day trip.

Great place to visit for strawberry picking, we did buy 25$ box and were able to fill that up very quickly. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Moment you reach destination based on GPS that's not the location for strawberry picking, you ll see sign from there saying which way to go for it and it's almost half mile. We did book 9am slot so we were able to pick good ones, I would suggest earlier the better. We also bought goat feeding online, which is again 0.1 miles from strawberry farm and very big play area for kids. Overall, it's a fun place to visit with kids.

My kids and I were there today for the first time. It was an amazing day. I had a lot of fun. Enjoyed self picking Raspberries and pumpkins as we came from Saudi Arabia, which no such farms. Didn't buy anything from the market as we were in a hurry to go back home, but I'm definitely planning to come back here, I really loved this experience!

Great farm with a huge variety of picking throughout the year. We love picking berries here but our all time favorite is flower picking. For $12 you get to fill a quart size containers with as many flowers as you can. Shears are provided and in august there’s an incredible selection of flowers. They’ve got a great market where they sell produce, home goods, and an assortment of prepared jams, sauces, foods, etc. don’t miss their Apple cider donuts during pumpkin season

Following last year, we visited this place again with my family this year. Most of it was similar to last year, but it was even better with new activities, including the corn pool. However, we felt that the food prices were a bit higher. I think we can enjoy the visit even more if they pay a little more attention to that.

Went for the sunflower harvest in August but I have also been apple picking! Such a beautiful bounty of fresh produce with plenty of play space and snacks for young kids! Highly recommend for families wanting a fun afternoon with great photo opportunities!

We went to Butler's in June for strawberry picking and had a great time. Freshly picked strawberries taste amazing, especially compared to berries in the grocery store. In addition to the pick-your-own fruits and veggies, they have a fun play area that the kids loved.

I love BlackRock Theater For The Arts they give you so much from artwork, music, theater, movies, and so much more. If you live in the area, you must come see what's going on there. It's a place for young and old. The play Dream Girls was out of this world. Thank you, Kelly, the art director, for bringing new and exciting events to BlackRock.👏🏾🎉🎊❤️🙏

I love the community atmosphere of BlackRock! Always something going on - from classes to performances by Grammy award winning artists... drag shows... outdoor trick-or-treating... the food distribution HUB... a lot! It's pretty cool that we have something like this in Germantown. I just wish more people know about it :) Definitely worth the trip up from DC or down from Frederick :)

Love this place! I haven't gone to any theatre events here but a friend had a quincera here and it was the perfect space. I now take swing classes here through gotta swing and love it. The same space works for the bday / events and dance. There's a lovely outdoor space with a lovely view. And it makes the place warm and inviting. There's plenty of parking and every time I talk to staff, they are lovely and helpful. So i highly recommend checking this place out. I plan to come for a show soon!

Everything shut down at midnight...no food, barely any drinks. Also saw someone wearing jeans...not what I expected for the price. Next time tell people the occasions attire so that there is not such a mixed crowd. Wish I could get my money back! Definitely not the way I wanted to ring in the new year/decade!
V LK — Google review
It's a small place, but offers some great culture and arts for a very affordable place. We're lucky to have something like this right here in Germantown. It's not the Kennedy Center, but offers great culture close to home
Marco James — Google review
I've been to a few of BlackRock's programs for kids. I went one of their summer camps last summer and been to quite a few of the Saturday morning musical theater programs such as Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, Broadway in Revue, and Suessical, Jr., and attended a hip-hop class. Overall I love BlackRock. The teachers are very kind and helpful, and there is no one there that will criticize you or critique you. BlackRock is a great place to go for theater, dance, musical, and art experiences.

Dropped by for the Artisans & Farmers Market which runs every Saturday 10-2. Looks like it will continue through August. Only a handful of vendors, all local. Worth coming by and supporting them.

Pretty decent trail. I would like to go back and see more of it but it was pretty muddy with the melting snow.

It's a fun trail with a lot of secret paths and variations and great views. You can actually get lost here, so make sure to pay attention to blue tree markings.
Huylo — Google review
Nice trail, only parking for about 7-10 cars, but access is easy. Well covered by foliage for a nice shaded walk. Slightly strenuous ups and downs, just enough to get the heart pumping, but nothing requiring pre-planning...you could walk in sneakers and jeans if you want. Recommend for an easy 1 hr walk.

Great trail for hiking and biking (probably don't want to attempt the trail on a bike if you're a novice though) with lots a hills and winding paths! Not very busy which is a plus for me and I always see some sort of wildlife.

Went here with our puppy on Saturday. It was a great walk/hike with nice views. Lots of trees kept of shaded from the sun. Puppy loved the water streams. It's not overly crowded like scenca Creek state park would be.

There were very few hikers during my hike. It made a difference because I took plenty of silly photos. The path is well maintained.

What a great nature walk! This is one of our favorites! The tree cover is great on very hot or sunny days, my 3 year old LOVES the little side paths where he gets to pick the direction, and it's never too hard for the kids to do. This is our go-to local nature walk!

A small but nice parking area at the trailhead to a wonderful meandering trail that goes through the woods all the way to Damascus. I found this interesting stick with a knot that someone left on the trail.
