Sights & Landmarks
The Tower Station & U-Drop Inn Cafe is a historical landmark dating back to 1936, featuring an art deco design. It has been prominently featured in the animated film Cars. The site currently functions as a museum and gift shop where visitors can find unique souvenirs. Ozzie's cafe, located on-site, offers homemade pie and other tasty food options for visitors to enjoy. Additionally, the adjacent museum and shop are highly recommended for those seeking an authentic Route 66 experience.
Was so excited to see this landmark that ended up in the movie Cars. Hazel came out to greet us when we pulled in! She's such a nice lady! She took our picture and then told us another SSR had come through several years ago... She still had the picture of it! Browse the gift shop .. You're sure to find that special little sovenier!!!

The cafe is open but has limited lunch only hours. The food was very good and the service was wonderful. Remember that your visiting a small rural town, a little patience and kindness will get you everywhere. The Museum and gift shop is a nice walk threw with lots of local information. The site itself is worth stopping for. Thank goodness the town of Shamrock had the vision to preserve this piece of Route 66. The public bathrooms are clean and well stocked even in the middle of the night. The overall look and feel of this piece of history is amazing day or especially at night. If your looking for big city polish and fake shine this may not be your favorite stop but if you are looking for authenticity and small town heart then this will be your favorite stop too!

What a gorgeous piece of Route 66 history. The ladies at the gift shop were so helpful and nice. We loved getting old-fashioned milkshakes at the attached care as well. This place was the highlight of our day on Route 66!

Food was good, but the best part is seeing Americana. The authentic Diner, gas pumps....what an amazing gem on rt 66. Service was good too, and the people are so nice, in the diner as well as the gift shop...again, a must see destination!

What a cute little place to stop! We got lots of pictures. They have a gift shop with souvenirs in it. They also have a bathroom. The ladies there were so sweet and kind to my littlest daughter and they were great to talk to...we could've spent the whole afternoon visiting with them!!! Highly recommend visiting!

Wonderful Route 66 stop full of history. It’s got a Tesla supercharger which is why we stopped. But a fun stop for kids and adults, the gift shop has got some neat little things and the nicest people work there. Only gripe is the outside bathroom could really use some updating. It’s in pretty rough condition.

A stunning iconic service station of a bygone era. Nicely preserved, maintained and clean. We pulled right up to the pumps for some memorable photos, had the whole place to ourselves. The small souvenir shop was closed but it didn't matter. I'm sure the locals take it for granted, but a don't-miss stop for old cars guys and Rt 66 fans.

Conoco Tower Station And U Drop Inn Route 66 Shamrock, Texas When we first arrived in Shamrock, Texas, we knew we wanted to visit The Conoco Tower Station and the U-Drop Inn Café. We met both Olita and Hazel at the station, and we talked about the history of the station. They also were kind enough to show us the U Drop Inn Café even though it was closed for the day. The interior and decor were beautiful and made you feel as if you were stepping back in the past. We also met the owner of the U Drop Inn Cafe. His name is Ozzy. We spoke for a bit about the cafe, its history, and his menu items. He was great and always had a smile on his face. We also talked about how we would like to promote his business to our Route 66 groups. We told him that we would be back the next day to have lunch before leaving Shamrock for Oklahoma. The following day, we had lunch at the cafe. The menu is limited and offers different sandwiches, paninis, salads, shakes, and homemade pies. We ordered several items from the menu. I had the Green Chile Chicken Panini, which came with a side of fries. The Panini was delicious and had lots of flavor. Chuck had Voilas Classic Chicken Salad Sandwich, and he stated that it was one of the best he has had. We also both ordered a couple of milk shakes, and they were both great they were flavorful, creamy, and smooth. Of course, we wanted to try some homemade pie. I can't remember what kind of pie it was, but I know the crust was flaky, and the filling was delicious. We later found out from Ozzy that his mother made the pies. I'm sure she makes other delicious pies because what we had was great. We also found out that Ozzy's parents own another restaurant, which we will try on our next visit. Overall, we had a great experience with wonderful food and excellent customer service from Ozzy.

Must take time in your trip to stop by and have lunch or homemade pie at Ozzie's cafe there at the U drop inn. My daughter and I shared a shake sitting at the counter. The museum and shop next door is also a must see, as the ladies there made a memorable visit for us. This is the quintessential Route 66 experience.

Great restoration of this iconic gas station. The visitors center is stocked with Route 66 apparel and souvenirs as well as some vintage items, old photographs, painting of the station and other interesting items. Staff is friendly and there is one small bathroom inside and a 24 hour bathroom in the front of the building. Bathrooms are vintage also. Great place to take photos of the vintage gas station and the Cafe.

We found this adorable & historic town by accident traveling West . We stayed at a cute hotel down the street , history and nostalgia in this area . Worth your time to stop , or call it a day and have dinner at a delicious place close by and stay in one of the several motels . Little step back in time. I loved it!

It's an iconic place, if you know you know. Not that far away, is a really nice piece of art with the city/hometown name. One of the benefits of road Trip across the country from LA, couldn't stop to explore more due to lots of driving & arriving early but one for the books.

Interesting historical spot right next to Tesla Supercharger; wasn’t open but there was plenty to see and photograph.

Loved this place! We are road tripping to Bring the South Paulding High School equipment in for the Hollywood Christmas Parade that SPHS will be Marching in. I took advantage of the photo opportunity while I was there.

What a gem this is! So much effort has been put into restoring it, and the man running the Cafe has been continually improving the interior and exterior and expanding the hours and menu since reopening it several years ago. The gift and tourism shop in the old gas station part of the building is very nice. We found this because those in charge were wise enough to accept the installation of a Tesla Supercharger array that is part of Tesla's nationwide network that allows electric vehicles to travel x-country. We have stopped here twice a year for the last three years, and we would stop even if we were not driving an EV.

Great little stop at night only downfalls is not really open. If you or your kids love the movie cars definitely stop to see this part of Americana.

They were closed when we got there a little before 5. Disappointed. Would have loved to go inside. The need to up their hours to 6:30

Fantastic piece of nostalgia for Route 66 explorers. Unfortunately, the Cafe and visitors center were closed, but the grounds are well kept. The gas station itself was used in the Disney movie "Cars".

Interesting history of the area around Shamrock. This is a small museum but it has a lot of information. They also had clippings about Bonnie and Clyde and their demise around this town. We enjoyed it and the docent was very friendly and knowledgeable.

They packed a lot into a pretty tight space. It's very well done and the lady managing it was very patient with my daughter and I playing one of their old organs.
